rewatched season 2 and hey hey hey while it’s unclear if Belos was even able/aware he could possess people before being splattered by the collector, i noticed something in king’s tide

notice the use of “we” notice the way he leaps with his mouth wide open-

holy shit, it’s possible he was gonna try and possess Luz in a last resort effort to return to the human realm

this combined with Luz’s existing parallels to Belos both in the sibling dynamic with Caleb/Hunter and with that scene in Watching and Dreaming- the potential holy shit.

Dadrius and Sonter Exposure Therapy and 4D chess (aka: family bonding)

Hunter has trauma from Belos/Phillip's gooey form abusing him. He associates imposing figures dripping with goo as "I'm going to be hurt soon" and he switches into fight or flight mode.

That's kind of terrible, considering Darius specializes in fighting with an imposing goo form. Covering himself in Abomination clay just to reach the top shelf is instinct at this point, and seeing Hunter flinch each time is really not good for their relationship.

So to fix this, Hunter will ask Darius to be around him and bury him in Abomination goop so he can "get over his fear". (Hunter is actually testing boundaries and seeing if or when he'll be hurt.)

Darius agreeing to bury Hunter in Abomination goop to "help" because he's got great control over himself and he won't trust anyone else to do it. (Darius using this experience to see what Hunter's tells are when he's scared but lying about it.)

What happens is a stare-down in the mud while Abomination goo slowly climbs up Hunter's body. And shouting.
