any hcs about felix when he was a kid? i'm curious lol
Hmm... See the problem is I don't know how much of my fics, you've read, anon, so I feel like I'm danger of repeating things you might already know. I feel like a lot of my headcanons get sprinkled across all my fics lol. Some of this might be familiar if you're familiar with my fics.
Thanks for the ask! (HCs below cut)
He was orphaned during the the beginning of the war at age 4 (going on 5)
He's raised in the Presidential Palace by President Ravinstill (whose pretty distant because that man has baggage)
He has two living cousins who are over 10 years older than him, Marius and Gnaeus. He isn't particularly close with either of them.
He doesn't remember much of his parents (or the rest of the large, dead extended family I gave him) as he grows older which is part of what reinforces the distance between him, his cousins, and his great-uncle.
To grieve with Felix would require them to remind him of what he's lost which would rip open wounds for the rest of them that are just beginning to try and heal. In the middle of a war, those three don't have the emotional energy. Once the war's ended, they all feel like it's too late.
He was homeschooled for the duration of the war, and doesn't join the rest of the kids until he's 8 going on 9 (around the time the war ends)
Being a Ravinstill offers him amount of confidence in social interactions. He believes that he's owed a certain amount of respect from his peers
He also offers a certain amount of respect back, but he can come across as rather patronizing
He doesn't actually pull rank (saying his great-uncle is the president or that his family is more prestigious). He expects people to to treat him that well without a reminder, and when they don't, he believes he's failing to fall into his idealized view of what a Ravinstill should be.(I weirdly think about John Locke's social contract when I think about Felix's views of his interpersonal relationships. Ravinstills are great, and everyone should want to be our friends! If they don't want to be mine, maybe I'm not doing it right? Maybe, I should be overthrown I'm not a worthy Ravinstill?)
For most of his childhood, he isn't really able to tell the difference from doing what he thinks he should and doing what he actually wants to do
Felix is jealous that Gaul can get his great-uncle's full attention so easily, and he develops a bit of a grudge against her from a young age. Plenty of other officials can get the president's attention more than Felix, but he's sensitive to how his distant father figure interacts with others and can see the president will pull his attention away from other matters if Gaul speaks.

Also Suzanne Collins said the books started off with the idea of the myth of Theseus where he participated in the lottery in Athens and went and had to go into the Labyrinth fight the Minotaur.
But Theseus was actually an immigrant not from Athens. The bastard of the king but now the crown prince. And he was like wtf this is a terrible plan and volunteered himself to go but he was like also probably the son of Poseidon don't worry about it too much. Either way he was an adult and super strong and good at killing. So he went and saved all the kids from having to go in and killed the Minotaur and went back to Athens with all the kids safe and sound. So that could have been Coriolanus Snow but he Chose to be evil on purpose. Where as Theseus decided to give up his kingship and invent democracy or whatever
So I like that she decided to go for the Gladiator- Roman Triumph angle instead. The bread and circuses used to appease the citizens. Because Rome of course one of the largest longest lasting empires in the world operated entirely on slave labor almost the whole empire was enslaved. the rest freemen. very few real citizens.

Hiya mamas, love love love your work!! Thank you for the time and effort you put into everything 🩵 quick request if you’re up for it; reader interacting with kids (as a job, nieces/nephews/family babies, et.) and the boys getting baby fever 👀👀
ooh I love the idea of the boys getting baby fever ~~ I also ranked these like - most to least likely to get baby fever over you with a child so this is just a quick Drabble before I shower n check out for the night but I hope you like it !!
OT8 SKZ + Baby Fever
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: 18+ content in most of them, MDNI !! - Hyunjin's also mentions having sex at work, so. Take that as you will.
Chris is absolutely the most likely to get baby fever from seeing you with a kid. You'd offered to babysit your friends six month old for the week while she was gone on a work trip and Chris was completely fine with it - but he didn't realize how much he'd love seeing you with the baby. Cuddled up with the chunky little thing on your chest in the evening when he got home, feeding her from the bottles of breast milk provided by the bestie -- he couldn't help but imagine you breastfeeding your baby one day, and his mouth started to water at the idea of your chest swollen with milk --
Jeongin dates to marry - and he marries to have a family. So when he sees you with your bosses son on 'bring your child to work day' (though for you it was 'bring your boyfriend to work day') running around the office, he couldn't help it when his heart began to swell and his pants tented at the image of you with a bump because of him. What? He's still young! Of course he gets horny at the idea of you pregnant with his child.
Hyunjin - breeding kink, no doubt. And quite the romantic - loves seeing you with kids. And it's something he sees often due to your job as an elementary teacher. He gets to visit your class sometimes and watch as you hand out snacks and put on cartoons, sitting with the kids who have a hard time napping by themselves or helping them put on their jackets as they head out for the afternoon. And he thinks it's so cute, of course. But it also makes him really, really want a little one of his own - and with you, no doubt - so there's been a few times he's visited later in the day after the school day is over just so he can bend you over your desk and start on getting you filled up sooner rather than later.
Jisung is another who dates to marry and he's pretty sure he's never been so in love with you up until now - seeing you sitting with the few toddlers in your room at the daycare when he came to pick you up from work. Yeah, you were a little covered in suspicious substances and food from lunch time, but you still looked so gorgeous holding their hands and telling them not to hit each other. You'd be a perfect mother, in his mind.
Felix has never wanted to fill you so bad. Walking into the apartment after recording all day, he was met with the sight of you and your brother - your niece settled in your lap as she chewed on your fingers and drooled all over you while watching a cartoon. You'd barely noticed, talking to your brother and naturally adjusting your niece as you saw fit - but Felix couldn't help but notice just how much the baby looked like you. Yes, she was your niece, it was fair she shared some similarities, and he knew that -- but it plagued his mind with the idea of you having a baby of your own; your hair, your eyes, his soft skin tone and freckles. Yeah, he was definitely coming inside you tonight - and then plugging you up so he was sure it would take.
Seungmin wants a son, nuff said. He'd be happy with a daughter but he wants a little boy to play baseball with and teach how to pitch. And he's even further set on the idea of having a boy after witnessing you help a little boy up at the field; Seungmin had gone with Jeongin and Minho just for fun, a few other families there as well to play ball or sit in the stands and chat together. You'd helped up the little boy after he'd tripped over his feet, running but unsure of where to go even as his dad laughed and told him to keep running. You pointed to the base, cheering him on off to the side as he ran - and all three of the boys had to stop and watch. But Seungmin - oh. He needed to take a small break after that.
Minho is definitely set on having a family some day. One kid - maybe two. Maybe three... Hell, he'd give you as many as you wanted after seeing you cradling your newborn sister earlier that morning. He'd gone with to the hospital, even held the little girl (which you'd gotten the CUTEST photo wallpaper of) and rocked her until she fell back asleep. But you with the baby? Especially when she looked almost identical to you? He was weak in the knees, I say!! Weak in the knees !! As if his joints aren't bad enough already.
Changbin knows he wants a little girl in the future; a little princess to spoil and give the biggest room in the house and dress up with. But he really, really wants a daughter with you after you'd invited your friend over - her three year old coming along and toddling around the house all day. He was enamored with the little sweetheart from the moment he set his eyes on her, but he was even more in love with the idea of the two of you having your own family after that. As soon as your friend leaves, he wraps his arms around your waist tight from behind and whispers out about how he thinks maybe you two should work on starting a family soon. AKA in ten minutes.

Apologies if this has already been addressed (I couldn't find anything), but who has Adrien's amoks in the dad villain au? I would assume Gabe and Emelie, but I haven't seen any reason to think they've been controlling him with them. Unless becoming more like Chat Noir has made him more 'human'?
I haven't drawn it yet, but for clarity, when Felix visits he steals it from Emelie - because this is a new timeline, she would never suspect her beloved nephew would snatch anything from her, and Gabriel can't audibly warn her about Felix's potential antics without sounding insane.
honestly, stealing the amok was the easy part. the hard part will be felix and kagami having to explain to Adrien exactly what he is. oof.

I presented Pres. Ravinstill two buttons to press in order to dictate what befell his family. It's not my fault that he didn't have his reading glasses on when he pressed "nepoticide" instead of "nepotism"

you walked up to the grand entrance of farleigh's estate. you were nervous, but also severely curious. before you could even knock, the big mahogany door opened to reveal a farleigh start in a half-done suit. his shirt was half buttoned and his tie was undone. he looked even more attractive in tousled clothing and you had to stop your mind from wandering anywhere else but the present. farleigh smiled welcomingly towards you and stepped to the side for you to step in.
"good afternoon, [y/n]." he greeted tenderly. you walked in with a smile, chuckling. you could feel your face gain color at the sight of him.
"good afternoon, sir." you replied. farleigh scoffed playfully, waving a hand in the air.
"farleigh is just fine [y/n], we aren't at work." you didn't know how to respond, only nodding bashfully. you made a mental note to try your best to remember to call him by his first name outside of work. your eyes finally ripped away from your boss who was leading you through the main open room, the sight of the home's interior nearly taking your breath away. the marbled, checkered tiles complimented the rest of the renaissance aged home, decorated with velvet tufted chairs and couches. throughout the hallways you walked with your boss, some had beautifully trimmed pieces of wall tables edged with baroque, golden-plated trims, along with nearly all the furniture in the rooms.
"i take it you're a bit starstruck, [y/n]." the brunette chuckled softly as you could only stare in awe at everything. you nodded, following closely as he continued to give you the tour. as he showed you rooms such as the common area, guest rooms, the kitchen, the library and even his room. you made sure to take a mental snapshot of his room. you didn't know why, but it was a gorgeous room with elegant pieces of furniture.
"not to be stereotypical sir, but how does one like you, inherit such a company?" you inquired, almost immediately regret asking after hearing your words aloud.
"as in how does an american like me take over a british estate?" farleigh corrected you. it made you mentally cringe. you felt like a slight bigot for such a question. farleigh smiled at you again, buttoning his shirt as he walked.
"don't worry, i'm not offended, heh." you didn't know how he knew the topic made you tense, maybe your poker face wasn't as good as you think. "i am related to the family. my mother is the sister of sir james catton, and so i am nephew to lady elspeth and cousin to sir felix. after mr. and mrs. catton passed, venetia did not want it and felix left to pursue his own dreams in life, i was the closest to the family. therefore, it was passed down to me.”
you 'ohh'ed' and nodded understandably. you didn't know he was so close with the catton's. of course you could have done research, but it is always more interesting to hear from the source itself.
"if your mum is related to sir james, does that mean your dad is from the states?" you asked, half knowing the answer. farleigh turns and nods to you, tieing his black tie swiftly as he walked.
"yes, my father is american and my mother is british. the life of a mutt." farleigh grinned playfully. you playfully rolled your eyes at the cheeky brunette, loving that he always has a refreshing sense of humor.
"we are headed to the tv room, where my son is. are you nervous to meet him?" mr.start asked, glancing at you.
a shot of anxiety filled your chest like a small heart attack. you were very curious to meet the son of your boss, but what if he didnt like you? anything could happen, and you didn't want to jeopardize your job in any way.
"i must say i am a bit nervous, sir." you laughed sheepishly, farleigh stopped treading only a couple steps from a cracked open door. you could hear faint sounds from the room, sounding like a tv. farleigh placed his hands on your shoulders, the action not helping your fast heart rate in any way.
"i promise, you will do great. he's a good kid so don't worry." farleigh flashed another reassuring smile before heading into the room. "benji? i'd like you to meet someone bud." you followed farleigh into the room, seeing a nearly much smaller miniature version of your boss. the kid was a near spitting image of his father and had turned to you from the tv, giving you a big toothy smile.
"hello miss! i’m benjamin." he greeted. you nearly gushed at the sight of him. he had his father's skin tone and tight curls, along with prominent features such as his nose and eye shape. though his eyes were a shade of a lighter, honey brown.
"well hello benjamin. i am [y/n]. i'm going to be your babysitter today." you greeted, smiling sweetly. farleigh smiled at your interaction with his son. he checked the time, wincing audibly before kneeling in front of benjamin.
"now benji, i do have to leave. but i will be back tonight to put you to bed. please be good for the maids and for miss [y/n], alright bud?" the miniature brunette nodded vigorously, giggling as farleigh kissed his forehead. farleigh stood and turned to you, clasping his hands together.
"thank you so much for doing this [y/n], you have no idea how much this means to me. i will see you two tonight, alright?" you nodded at him, waving him off as he exited the room.
°°°
within the first two hours, you and benjamin sat in the tv room simply chatting about whatever a 6 year old boy likes to chat about. from dinosaurs, to race cars, to kid shows and even academics, benjamin was quite the intelligent kid. you weren't as nervous as before, and enjoyed the little runt's company. he was very well reserved for a child his age and was not as overstimulating as you thought he would be. one quirk you noticed was that he knew a lot about dinosaurs, and it was the most adorable thing in the world.
"did you know the name triceratops is greek for three-horned face miss [y/n]?" benji asked, playing with his dinosaur figurines on the low wooden table.
"no i did not. isn't that kind of crazy? imagine having three huge horns on your face." you grinned and poked both of benji's cheeks before poking his nose last. the boy giggled at the pokes, retracting from your hands from most likely being ticklish.
"they also weight like, 13 tons! thats like how much a building weighs or something!" the small brunette exclaimed while holding his arms out wide to demonstrate the 'size of a building.' you couldn't help but giggle at his actions, finding it too cute. he had more of a british accent than farleigh did, most likely from school.
getting a bit bored from the tv, benjamin asked the maid in the room for his coloring books. he had asked you if you wanted to color with him, of course not denying the request. he had 3 different books; a dinosaur one, a racecar one, and an overall educational one. benji colored in the dinosaur book while you colored a page in the racecar one.
"miss [y/n], are you my new mommy?" the boy quieres. you nearly choked on the crisps you were snacking on, having to clear your throat for a handful of seconds before answering.
"uhm– no sweetheart," your face had gathered warmth quickly, glancing at the maid who clearly held back a smile. "i actually work with your father. i am a secretary, someone who helps him with things like lunch and scheduling meetings."
"ohhhhh ..like a maid?" benji continues. you pause for a moment and think about his words. he wasn't technically wrong. it sometimes felt like that but you never minded it. it was quite literally your job.
"i guess you could say that, only i don’t clean and cook. i hope you behave for the butlers and maids here, benji." benji nods with another big grin while giggling.
"yes i do! i promise! but i was just wondering. i haven't seen my mom in ...i dunno, whats 3 years? a thousand days?" your heart dropped at the sudden turn in topic, forcing a small smile as you watched him continue to color.
"something like that," you responded more gently. "do you remember her?" benjamin hummed. he was thinking of an answer but clearly was more focused on the t-rex on the piece of paper he was coloring. he shrugs and picks up a green colored crayon. "brown hair, brown eyeballs, uhh thats all i sort of know hehe.." you nod, feeling a sudden wave of melancholy gently wash over you as your mind wanders to your own family.
"i get that, i can't remember my dad much." you shrugged. you picked up a green crayon and began making it the accent color of your red racecar, making sure to stay in the lines.
"i love my dad!" benji suddenly exclaimed, causing you to smile again. you gently rubbed his head full of curls. they reminded you of his fathers. you always wanted to touch farleigh's curls.
"mommy left after a big loud argument with daddy. they were using words i can't say until i graduate college, that's what daddy said at least," you paused your coloring, looking at the boy who still seemed bothered at speaking about such a topic while drawing on some dinosaurs.
"they were yelling about things like daddy's job and how mommy was always sad all the time and uh...doing lines on tables?" your breath hitched, trying not to look shocked in front of the housekeeper. you did sneak a glance to her, who averted her gaze.
"i also draw lines on tables but only with my fingers hehe. then one day mommy kissed my head and left with a suitcase. she told me to grow up big and strong aaaand look at me! big and strong!!" benji smiled, holding up his arms. your smile was slowly turned into a sad one. you couldn't help it. hearing such an innocent kid talk about a topic only you can fully comprehend sets an achy feeling in your chest. you decided it was time to change the atmosphere.
"hey, i'm feeling some homemade pizza. what about i go start in the kitchen while you finish up here with your drawing okay?" benjamin's eyes lit up like a starry night in the sky as the mention of pizza.
"okay!! i want to cut out this after im done and miss margaret will walk me into the kitchen!" you give a thumbs up to the boy and a silent agreeing smile to margaret before exiting the room. you admit you did slightly wander the halls for a minute or two and took the longer way to the kitchen just to adore the home itself. you loved the old yet elegant feeling of the entire place. you felt like sort of royalty, wondering how it would be like to even live in a place like this.
eventually you made it to the kitchen and noticed how it looked untouched. you turn to the butler who was dusting off a painting on the wall, hoping to not seem like a bother.
"sir? are there ingredients to make a homemade pizza in this kitchen?" you asked in a more polite tone than usual. the man stops what he is doing to turn to you. he wore an almost neutral expression but even then, you felt your presence was merely enough to annoy him.
"there are two kitchens, madam. this is the front kitchen, where they keep beverages, sweets and snacks in the cabinets and refrigerator. the back kitchen is where the chef and cooks keep most of the ingredients when they cook for sir farleigh and sir benjamin." you nodded, thanking him for the information given before leaving him alone quickly. you wandered to the back of the kitchen where many cooks were prepping food, probably for the following days. you spoke to the chef and told him how you wanted to simply make homemade pizza using the front kitchen stove, and he happily helped you. he brought out the ingredients and placed them on the granite island in the front kitchen. the finest kneaded dough, marinara sauce, 3 varieties of cheeses and several fresh pizza toppings.
while finishing up, you heard a noise from the hallway. it was a brief noise, but what it had sounded like alarmed you. you briskly shuffled into the hallway to see margaret coming to you with benjamin, who has tears running down his face. you immediately ran to his aid, kneeling down toward the boy's height.
"margaret what happened?" you gasped out. there was blood on his small hands along with margaret’s who was holding a wet gray cloth to his hand to stop the bleeding.
"i-im sorry madam. i had looked away for just a moment while he was cutting his drawing out and he nicked himself. there is first aid in the library." the women spoke frantically. you immediately picked up benji and rushed to the library. when the three of you arrived, margaret immediately grabbed the first aid from the shelf. you sat benji down in one of the chairs, speaking to him reassuringly to calm the scared boy down.
"i-it hurts [y/n]." he cried. you continued to press the wet rag to his wound and cupped his small face.
"i know sweetheart. it's okay, you're going to be alright. c'mere." you hushed and cooed the boy reassuringly, holding him in your lap as you rocked him. you silently told margaret to hold off for a moment, just to get him to calm down. you knew hand cuts tend to bleed for a bit before the wound would clot itself and so to distract benjamin, you hummed a small lullaby to soothe him. as you held the rag securely to his hand, your other hand held his head to your chest as you hummed quietly into his ears. within a matter of minutes his cries slowed to small sniffles and hiccups.
the tension in the room lifted and you finally let margaret treat his wound while he sat in your lap. when you finally removed the rag, the cut was as expected a small nick on his thumb. benji sat calmly as margaret gingerly cleaned his cut with a q-tip, placed a then layer or ointment over it and wrapped a blue bandaid around his finger.
"you did so good benji. i think you deserve a treat." you praised. benji looked up at you with his glassy hazel eyes, finally showing a cheeky grin.
"like pizza?" he questioned. you laughed at the unexpected guess but simply nodded. your eyes glanced over at margaret who mouthed a small 'thank you.' your chest warmed and you accepted it, finally taking benjamin to the kitchen to make pizza.
°°°
"[y/n]? benji? im home!" farleigh yelled through out the home whilst walking through the door.
"daddy!!" benji yelled, running towards his father across the main common room. farleigh immediately smile and picked up his son, kissing his head.
"hey buddy, were you good for miss [y/n]?" benjamin nodded excitedly, giggling as his father tickled him. you arrived seconds later after benjamin and beamed at the sight of your boss.
"hello sir. i hope the event was nice." you started. farleigh sighed deeply, painting on a smile. past the smile you could see he needed a lending ear.
"it was surely eventful. let's get this little kiddo to bed first." you agreed and followed farleigh to benjamin's room. the tall brunette helped his miniature copy into his pajamas and laid him down in bed. you sat farther to the end of the bed to let them have their moment.
"daddy i had a really good day. i watched tv, drew dinosaurs, talked about dinosaurs, and i made pizza!" benji exclaimed.
"oh you made pizza?" farleigh questioned, a hint of genuine surprise lacing his tone as he briefly turned to you. benji confirmed again and suddenly showed his blue bandaid, making your heart drop.
"yes. i also hurt myself while trying to cut out my drawing. but miss [y/n] helped me calm down as miss margaret placed the bandaid on it hehe." farleigh held up his sons hand, gently kissing the wounded finger with a smaller smile as he glanced over at you.
"i was wondering what happened when i walked in. but i am glad youre okay, bub. get some sleep, okay?" just as farleigh was about to tuck him in, benjamin protested and sat up quickly. suddenly he crawled over to the end of his bed where you were and gave you a big hug. as you were slightly taken aback, you wrapped your arms around the child, blushing as he kissed your cheek before he climbed right back into bed. farleigh kissed him goodnight before the two of you left his room quietly.
the air seemed to thicken as you walked just seconds short behind farleigh. he walked back into the kitchen, where he had seen the wrapped leftover pizza on the island. you had made sure to clean up as you cooked, so there was minimal mess in the end. you didn't have time to put leftovers up since farleigh was pulling up to the estate at the time. farleigh opened the aluminum foil and took a slice of pizza, humming in approval at the taste.
"so," he started. "what happened?" you swallowed thickly. you couldn't read him. anyone knows if a parent came home to their child wounded they would be livid.
"i went to set up the ingredients for making the pizzas while margaret watched him for a handful of minutes and– and i heard the noise of a cry of some sort and i had seen margaret with a cloth to his hand.." you pause your words, watching as farleigh's fingers undid his tie silently. he rolled up his sleeves before opening the fridge to grab a chilled bottle of red wine. the bottle read 'la ruine. pinot noir.'
"we took him to the library where first aid was and as i calmed him, margaret treated his cut. im really sorry sir it was an honest mistake and i shouldnt of left him alone when he was usin–" you cut yourself short when farleigh suddenly walked up to you and placed his hands on both your shoulders.
"[y/n], sweetheart, its okay. he is a big boy, things happen. i'm not mad at you and its clear it was just an accident. benjamim was clearly fine also, yeah?" you stare up at your boss, nodding slowly at his words.
did he just call me sweetheart?
"y-yes ...sir." you stuttered out. your body temperature increased at his voice calling you a pet name and his touch. you didn't know how to react. farleigh felt your tense arms relax under his touch and he smiled. he opened a higher cabinet, grabbing two crystal glasses and placed them on the island.
"have a glass of wine with me. i think it will ease both of our nerves." the brunette suggested, pouring you both half a glass. you thanked him and sipped the red, the taste immediately making you smile. you looked at farleigh, who had already down his glass with a slight groan at the end. work must of stressed him out today, because he filled his glass halfway again and downed it quickly once more. this time in 2 gulps instead of one.
"heavy day, sir?" you hummed, chuckling sheepishly. farleigh sighed in response, nodding as he poured his third glass. instead of downing it, he kept it on the granite island and placed the bottle to the side.
"i apologize for downing those glasses in front of you like that, wasn't very gentlemen-like of me. but yes today was simply, very overstimulating." farleigh groaned, rubbing his temples at the mere thought of the business event. he went into the pantry and grabbed a half opened bar of chocolate, breaking off a piece to eat. he sipped his glass after with a hum of content.
"may i ask just a summary of your day?" you continued. you took a larger sip of your glass to catch up with farleigh, who was already 2 drinks in.
"it was a beautiful venue and all. some men had their secretaries doing their bidding which made me wish i had you there. not to do everything for me, like you normally do, but to have company. thank you again for babysitting benjamin for me." farleigh tipped his glass to you before drinking from it again.
"it was merely just a lot of conversing about business, laughing at– excuse me but –shitty jokes and poorly made horderves. the live music was beautiful though." you chuckled at hearing farleigh swear. you had never heard him use such language besides the less stronger phrases like 'damn' or 'pain in the ass.' it was nice to see him loosen up.
"i would have loved to have joined you. but i must say, benjamin and i did have fun making pizza and coloring together. i think i can say i definitely had more fun than you, sir." you stated with a cheeky tone. you giggled as farleigh attempted to protest but clearly couldn't, agreeing with you.
"i would choose my son over rich old white men any day. here, try this. dark chocolate is good with red wine." farleigh handed you a small piece of dark chocolate broken off the bar, coaxing you to eat it. you rose a brow but did not question the man, popping the candy in your mouth. the chocolate almost immediately melted against your tongue and you followed the candy with a swing of red, not holding back your pleased expression from the taste. the fruity and spiced flavoring of the wine complimented the savory and slightly sweet piece of chocolate. you made a mental note to try it at home.
"good yeah?" mr.start teased, chuckling as he knew you were doing to enjoy it. you nodded at his words, pointing to the bottle for a refill.
"may i?" you queried. farleigh waved a hand, signaling for you to grab the bottle and you poured yourself another glass. farleigh felt his body becoming warmer, his first 2 glasses finally catching up to him. he casually leaned against the island while you were up against the counter directly across from him. there was maybe a space of about a yard between the two of you as you sipped your glasses, speaking of miscellaneous topics now. but there was no denying the tension in the room. you weren't going to acknowledge it and farleigh seemingly didn't mind it.
"yes i think tony's cafe has better coffee than the cafe on 63rd. it's also less busy and their mocha is much more, well, chocolate-y." farleigh hummed, scratching his scruffy jaw as he finished off his 3rd and final glass.
"tony's black coffee also isn't as bitter. it has that hint of floral notes, like hawaiian coffee. and– oh, hold on.." farleigh paused his words and leaned off the counter to enter your space. your breath hitched as he loomed over you, his hand raising towards your face. the pad of his thumb gently swiped over your cheek a couple of times and farleighs eyes never left your face.
"you had a little bit of flour on your face.." he murmured, making you laugh under your breath.
"probably from the pizza dough." you replied, the volume of your voice automatically decreasing at the close proximity. farleigh, who seemed to be in a daze, was finishing wiping the flour off but didnt move. his fingers simply stayed gently on your face. you didn't know how tipsy you were till you had subconsciously leaned into farleigh's hand, allowing him to cup the side of your face. though when you opened your eyes to see farleigh gazing at you with such eyes, you had realized the alcohol had gotten to you both, and it was time to leave. you swiftly cleared your throat which brought farleigh out of his daze, the man taking a step back for you to breathe.
"ah– ahem ..its getting late farleigh. i should get going–" you started.
"i can take you home." he suggested quickly. you laughed awkwardly, shaking your head at his request.
"sir, you are 3 drinks in. i don't think that's best." you mentioned. farleigh mentally slapped himself for the suggestion. he would never put your life in danger like that. he didn't push any further and simply nodded.
"i will tell margaret to let the chauffeur know. you have a nice evening, [y/n]. i'll see you tomorrow, and thank you again." farleigh flashed one last smile at you, grabbing the bottle and the chocolate to put them up.
"have a goodnight, sir." and with that, you turned your heel and made your way to the front door, not daring to sneak one last look. because you already felt his eyes watching you leave.

The Journey Ahead AU Part 1 of 2
(This is a thought I've been chewing on, and some details might pop up in the Bewitched By Yuletide AU)
A!Eddie gets out of Hawkins w his band, and they make it. They tour the world selling out stadiums, they record 12 albums together & 5 of those albums win a Grammy for Album of the Year, the rest win Grammys for the lead single or the music videos, basically every album wins "a" Grammy,
then they go radio silent after finishing the tour of their 12th album "Defeating The Dragon" until one day nearly 3 months later their official accounts across the internet announce the band is going their separate ways, tht they all saw different futures ahead of them, tht they loved their fans & the opportunities they got to have thanks to their fans & as a farewell they released a re-recording of the lead single tht got them to where they are titled "The Journey Ahead" (it was the first track on their first album)
Life goes on, the industry moves on, and the band do too. A!Jeff becomes a successful movie star, A!Gareth hosts a radio show listened to across the nation, B!Felix (unnamed freak) has a wildly successful solo career no one saw coming, and Eddie... the press & the fans don't rlly know where Eddie went. The last ppl heard concerning him was the sale of his mansion in LA. Life still goes on, and the mystery of what happened to Eddie Munson fades into the background noise.
3 years later the 20th anniversary of their first album approaches & Felix feels they should do something all together again. A true final hurrah.
Meanwhile Eddie is living a fairly normal life in a small college town in Oregon, he owns & operates a book store, spends all day Sunday w the ppl he's come to know as family since leaving fame behind, has 2 successful books written under a pseudonym, and his mate is pregnant w their first child.
O!Steve inherited a lot of money from his grandparents & he decided to pour tht money into opening a no kill shelter & animal sanctuary, he bought a farmhouse not far from the town, his best friend A!Robin lives w him on the farm & coordinates much of the nitty gritty business details, & he focuses on caring for the animals. Eddie blows into town after a successful stint in rehab & moves into the neighboring farmhouse w the old alpha who stobin have Sunday breakfast w every week. They don't think much of it till Wayne calls postponing the Sunday breakfast till next week, explaining tht his nephew is in town. The next week arrives & stobin have an unholy habit of being morning ppl. They go abt morning chores before they walk to Wayne's for breakfast, Steve & Robin r greeted first by the two dogs Wayne adopted from them, then Wayne himself, & when they step inside Steve lays eyes on Eddie. It's like the world stops but Steve's been hurt by alphas before so he's cautious of the attention Eddie gives him, even if Steve feels like something clicks into place whenever they're together. Robin tests Eddie's determination to court her best friend properly for nearly a year & only let's up when Eddie gifts Steve an enclosed patio for the cats of the shelter.
Steddie court for abt 3 more months before taking the leap & mating with official courthouse papers & a small reception tht the band attend (bc they never stopped talking or dropped contact) Eddie moves into the farmhouse & Robin moves out. She doesn't go far though bc that's her platonic soulmate & Eddie built her a cottage on the sanctuary property (it is a big piece of land) so she's always nearby but now there's an illusion of privacy for all 3 of them.
Then the 20th anniversary approaches & the rest of the band want to do something. Gareth thinks it'd b fun to record a limited podcast series, Jeff wants to curate a documentary, and Felix wants to give recording a new album a try. Eddie's the one who settles the arguments by proposing they do all 3. They've all been writing since separating as a band, they've got more than enough to talk abt for a podcast, & a documentary might b fun especially because Jeff wants it to b his directorial debut.
i know some people hate rockstar eddie, but i will always be a fan and i love when he uses his money/resources to woo his stevie🥰

every time i see someone say that something is cannon when it isn't a piece of my soul dies so here are some things that are constantly stated as being cannon but aren't
Barty Crouch Jr being a Ravenclaw
No where in cannon is this stated. He did get 12 owls and was very smart but his Hogwarts House is never said. People say this is cannon because if you google what house Barty was from a wikipedia page comes up stating that he was in Ravenclaw. Again, it is never said on any cannon piece of text
Evan Rosier has a younger brother called Felix
Felix Rosier is a cannon character and appears in the Hogwarts Mystery game, but nowhere in the game does it say what his relation to Evan is. He could've been a cousin or nephew
Barty Crouch Jr was abused by his father
All we know about Barty Jr relationship with his father is that Barty didn't like him and according to Sirius that Barty Sr should've spent more time with his son. This is like neglect at the very very worst but even that is stretching it a little. In reality it's much more likely that the reason why Barty Jr hates his father so much is because his father is part of the justice system and works at the ministry and Barty Jr is a war criminal
The Order of the Phoenix was manipulated by Dumbledore into joining and full of children
The only cannon ages we have from the Order members are The Marauders and they were at least 19 when they joined. Young? yes but not children and not too young to not understand what joining a war entails. Also Dumbledore did not manipulate anyone into joining. Every member joined because they wanted to
Remus Lupin was the smartest Marauders
Remus was the best behaved and possibly most mature Marauder. Not the smartest. There's a difference.
Regulus Black was born in June
He doesn't have a cannon birthday. The website that appears when you google when his birthday was is a fan made one that also says he married Hestia Jones
Regulus Black figured out the Horcruxes all on his own
He didn't. He had Kreacher, who told him about the cave and the locket and what Voldemort made Kreacher do to hide the locket. Kreacher was also the one who helped Regulus get to the cave and get as far as he did. Give Kreacher the credit he deserves. All Regulus did was figure out what the locket really was and swapped them.
Evan Rosier was the one who took Mad Eye Moodys eye
This one is depending on what you consider to be cannon. In the books Evan is said to had taken part of Mad Eyes nose. In the films it's his eye.
that's all i can think of for now. i'll probably have more in a day or two

I was a child before the day that I met Eleanor [Tyler x fem!Reader] [part 1 of 2]
Tumblr media
Upon the birth of Kay's baby, your boyfriend comes to the realisation that he wants one of his own with you.
A/N: I'M A TYLER GIRLLLY it's ab time I did a fic for him 🫶 fluff ahead!!!! Title is from A Father's First Spring by the Avett Brothers! V sweet song ab fatherhood:) this chapter is mostly just build up, next chapter will be actual pregnancy stuff!!
Series warnings: childbirth, pregnancy, cousin incest (Kay x Bjorn), fertility issues
Kay's son is born on one of the coldest nights on Yvaga.
You, Rain, Andy and Navarro sit outside in the waiting room, wincing at every scream, every curse from your dear friend as she brings her baby into the world.
Tyler couldn't be pulled from his sister's side, and... interestingly enough, neither could Bjorn. He'd damn near throttled the doctor who'd tried to remove him.
You don't know how long you all sit there before Tyler comes back out. His eyes are tired, his hair sticking to his forehead, but his smile is beaming, proud.
"It's a boy," he grins, glancing back behind him to the door. "Kay and the baby are doing great. You guys can come through in a little bit but... she wanted a minute alone, first."
None of you bring up the fact that Bjorn is still in the room with her, so technically it's not alone... but you move past that, moving over to your boyfriend with a gentle smile, rubbing a hand up and down his back.
"How's unclehood feel, Ty?" you grin, leaning your chin against his arm as you peer up at him. He laughs softly, pressing a kiss to your head.
"Insane. Surreal, actually, he's here, now. Kay's a mum. My little sister..." he blows out a sigh, shaking his head. "Bizarre, but like, in a good way, I guess."
You grin wider, leaning up and pecking his cheek, giving his arm a squeeze as you bask in his warmth, his joy.
It isn't long before you're all let into the room. Kay is still abed, naturally, her skin slick with sweat, her bangs plastered to her forehead. She's dressed in the standard issue hospital gown, her hair tied back into a lazy plait, her face exhausted.
But she's glowing with happiness, rivalling the warm glow of Yvaga's sun.
Bjorn is half perched beside her on the bed, eyes red rimmed and glued to the bundle in Kay's arms, as if he's afraid it will disappear.
"Guys," she begins, finally breaking her gaze away from the baby in her arms. "This is Felix," she whispers, beaming back down at her son, who coos and wiggles against her chest, letting out a squeaky yawn.
Needless to say, the entire crew's hearts grow three times bigger.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
Felix is a cute kid; chubby cheeks, Kay's dark curls, a beaming smile, and alert blue eyes that look ever so familiar to-
"I'm telling you," Tyler insists, hands on his hips as he beams down at his nephew. Felix beams back at him. "Saw him crawl earlier! Go on, Fel!"
"Fucksake, he'll do it in his own time." Bjorn rolls his eyes, though there is a fond grin on his face. He's sat not too far from Felix, leaning back on his elbows as he keeps an eye on the infant. "Won'tcha, bud? Don't need no one dictactin' whatcha do, hm?"
Felix squeals, reaching over and yanking on Bjorn's nose.
You giggle, setting your datapad aside as you turn to the infant, quite contentedly pulling on Bjorn's nose, the man dramatically crying out and making faces at the baby as he does. "Fel," you coo, crouching down and holding out your hands. "Come to auntie, c'mon, sweetie!"
With another squeal, Felix abandons Bjorn, who collapses onto his back with an overdramatic cry as Felix promptly leaves his side in favour of crawling over to you on wobbly hands and knees.
"Yes!" Tyler cheers, fists in the air. "I knew it! Fuckin' knew it!"
"Don't swear 'round him," Bjorn tuts, shooting his cousin some side eye.
"You've got a bloody cheek."
You ignore them, just grinning wide as Felix stops by your feet, prompting you to scoop him up with a cheer of your own, pressing a smattering of kisses to his cheeks. "Such a clever boy!" you coo, laughing along with his sweet baby giggles.
Bjorn hops to his feet, standing and scooping Felix from your hands, keeping a careful grip of him as he lowers him to the ground, then holds him up high again. Felix shrieks with delight, and Bjorn repeats the motion a few times with a matching beam on his own face. "That's m'boy!" he cheers, holding Felix close and pressing a kiss to his forehead, his little nose. "Such'a clever lad, aren'tcha?"
"Gets it from Kay, clearly." You remark, smirking at him as he pouts at you from over Felix's head, his son's head.
He and Kay haven't officially said anything yet still, but it's obvious. Felix's eyes, his cheeky smile, they're both so completely Bjorn that even Tyler can't look past it.
Add in the fact that Bjorn practically lived with Kay, damn near spent every day with her and Felix... yeah, didn't take a genius to work it out.
You shake your head with a fond grin, turning to look at your boyfriend and gage his thoughts.
Tyler is already staring at you, cheeks a shade darker and eyes so unbelievably soft as they gaze upon you. You cock your head in confusion, smile softening the longer he looks at you. He moves past Bjorn and Felix, coming over to your side as if a magnet is guiding him. He reaches up, gently cupping your cheek in his hand, thumb oh so gently brushing back and forth over your cheek.
"What?" You ask, question in your tone, as your boyfriend's eyes search your face, trailing over your features one by one.
Felix squawks, and Bjorn hums back at him, glancing between you both with raised brows. He looks down at his son, blowing out a little huff of air. "Well, c'mon, then, let's go find'ya mummy, yeah?" and with that he swiftly exits, Felix quite contentedly chewing on the collar of his t-shirt.
Tyler opens his mouth to speak, before closing it with a shaky exhale, sheepish as he ducks his head down. "I really love you, y'know that right?" he asks, voice hoarse.
"Yeah, course I do," you say softly, carding your fingers through his hair. "I love you too. What's on your mind, Ty-"
"Iwannahaveababywithya." he blurts out, before wincing, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Fuck- fuck, I'm sorry- that just- it just hit me, when you were holding Felix and-"
You blink at him, stomach swooshing and heart pounding in your chest.
"I mean, I love you to death, y'know? I'm gonna marry you," he says, oh so matter of factly. "I just... I look at you with Felix, and you're just... fuck, love, you suit it, being a mum. And I think about us, and us havin' a..."
"Tyler," you breathe, lips quirking up again.
"Yeah?"
"Okay." you whisper, and it's his turn to freeze. "I feel the same way, babe-"
You break off into a shriek of laughter as he scoops you into his arms, twirling you into a tight hug as he laughs nervously against your ear. You cling onto each other tight, your face buried in his neck and his in your hair.
"Shit, shit-" he laughs, setting you down and clutching your face in his hands, leaning his forehead against yours. "Fuck we... we're really-?"
"We're trying." You breathe, smile hurting your face with how wide it gets. Tyler's smile matches your own, and he laughs again before leaning down, pressing his lips against yours.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
Months pass. Felix hits his first birthday, Rain and Navarro show up to family dinner holding hands one evening-
("Are you okay with us?" Rain asks Tyler, awkwardly, hesitantly, her eyes wide with fear.
"Hey, why wouldn't I be?" he asks, smiling fondly and giving her shoulder a squeeze. "You make each other happy, that's all that matters, alright?")
-and Bjorn is promptly chased around the block when Tyler finally pieces together just who had fathered his nephew-
(You'd never seen him so mad, as you held onto a sobbing Kay, as you watched Tyler and Bjorn scream at each other. Thank god Felix was out for a day trip with auntie Rain and uncle Andy, honestly.
"You fuckin' prick-" Tyler shouts, shaking his cousin by jacket collar. "Should fuckin' kill you for- fuck, did you even fuckin' THINK about what you'd done to her, huh? You, what, fucked your cousin and LEFT HER-"
"It's not FUCKIN' LIKE THAT-" Bjorn roars back, shoving Tyler away from him. "We've loved each other for years, not my fault your head was shoved way too far up your own arse to fuckin' NOTICE-"
Tyler shouts some more choice words, rearing a fist back to punch his cousin again. Until, that is, Kay breaks away from you and rushes between the cousins, eyes full of tears and chest heaving.
"Stop it, Ty!" Kay shrieks, arms protectively keeping Bjorn behind her and away from her brother's fists. "Stop! Fucking- I love him-"
Your boyfriend laughed, hiding his face in his hands. "It's- It's fuckin' weird-"
"I know, I know," Kay soothes, hiccuping softly. "And I'm sorry we never said anything sooner but- but this? It's exactly why I was so scared to tell you.")
Things had been tense, for a little while. Tyler and Bjorn didn't speak for a while, not until Kay had sheepishly announced her second pregnancy when Felix was nearing three. It was only then that the cousins reconciled, returning to how they used to be (even if Tyler narrowed his eyes every time he caught Bjorn and Kay kissing, or even merely holding hands).
You marry Tyler, shortly after Felix's third birthday. It's a small ceremony, moreso a signing of a document at a small colony office. But you return home, have dinner and drinks with your family, and he even carries you over the threshold, the pair of you giggling like two dumbass teenagers.
One thing, however, is missing.
Your birth control implant had been removed a week after you and Tyler had talked about having a baby. You'd both gotten tests, fearful of Jackson having done something to your fertilities.
According to those tests, you were both damn fertile myrtles.
It was baffling, the fact that three years later you still had no baby, your cycle was as regular as ever.
Until, that is, it wasn't.

The Cattons were nice enough people, but you wouldn't say you were friends with the younger members. Your parents were friends with Sir James and Lady Elspeth, so you were often made to socialize with their kids and nephew. That was the extent of your relationship with them, though. You definitely wouldn't consider Felix, Venetia, or Farleigh to be your friends.
But when you got invited to a massive party at the Catton castle for one of Felix's friend's birthdays, how could you say no?
The night was raging on. You could hear the thumping of the music behind you as you walked away from the house. Your head was spinning from the alcohol you had been drinking, combined with the powdery substance Farleigh had offered you. You were feeling claustrophobic inside with all those bodies, so you had come outside for some air. At some point, you had seen the maze that sat behind the house, and your feet started moving towards it before your intoxicated brain could comprehend what you were doing.
You stumbled through the maze. Everything looked the same. You couldn't tell if you were going the right way or walking in circles. You couldn't even tell where the "right way" would lead you at this point.
Eventually, you came to the center of the maze. The statue of a minitour towered over you, and stood at the base of it were two people. You could make out Felix's tall frame and the angel wings of his costume shoved up against the statue. The person in front of him was back to you. You could only see short brown hair with antlers coming from his head. His hands were holding Felix's shirt and their faces were inches apart. You knew you had stumbled onto something you couldn't be seeing, but you couldn't get your body to move back the way you had come.
The unknown boy suddenly stumbled away from Felix. You backed away from the opening before Felix could notice you. You heard the other person retching and gagging before it became quiet. You weren't sure what to do. You were about to creep away when suddenly, the other person appeared.
Through the intoxicated fog in your brain, you were able to put a name to the face: it was Felix's new friend Oliver.
You both looked at each other for a moment, both looking like deer caught in headlights. Oliver almost literally with his antlers. Oliver finally broke away first, brushing past you and walking very quickly away. You stood there, wondering if Felix would be close behind, but when he didn't follow you turned and walked away.
~~~~~~
The next morning, you woke to the sound of a woman shrieking. Your body was aching and you realized it was because you had passed out in the back garden. You pushed yourself to sit up and squinted against the bright sunlight. Your head was pounding from your hangover.
Through your squinted eyelids, you noticed three bodies rushing towards the maze. The Catton servants who were cleaning the mess from the party had stopped and were watching the scene unfold. Something had happened while you were passed out. Something bad.
One of the servants approached you. You could see there was a somber look on his face as he said, "Come with me, ma'am. I'll bring a car around for you."
"What happened?" you asked.
He didn't respond. He just turned away from you, not waiting for you to follow as he walked away.
You slowly got to your feet. Your head was still pounding, but now you were more curious and concerned over what was going on. It was clear the staff wasn't going to tell you, and you didn't want to leave Saltburn without knowing what had happened. Especially if it was something that could've involved you.
You noticed a group emerging from the maze. Your brain had unfogged enough to be able to pick out who it was.
Sir James and Lady Elspeth were first. Elspeth's eyes were watery while James was looking off with a vacant look on his face. Venetia and Farleigh were following behind them. Venetia was leaning against Farleigh in hysterics, while Farleigh's sobs were a little quieter but still heartbreaking.
And trailing behind all of them was Oliver, whose face was just blank.
As if feeling your eyes on him, Oliver's head turned to face you. The two of you locked eyes and it brought forward a memory from your drug addled brain from the night before. One almost exactly like this, except it happened in the maze.
Then that made you realize there was someone missing from this group.
Felix.
All the pieces began falling together in your head. The shriek that woke you was either Elspeth or Venetia finding Felix. The staff was trying to rush you away so the family could mourn and likely so Felix's body could be taken away.
After that was figured out, your brain started putting together other pieces. The last time you had seen Felix was in the maze...with Oliver. If the family was walking away from the maze, that meant that's where his body was. Where he died.
And the last person to see Felix, to be with him when he was alive, was Oliver.
Alarms sounded in your head as you watched the group of mourners walk into the house. You finally managed to get your body to move, following everyone inside. They had all gone their separate ways by the time you walked in. They could've been anywhere in that giant house by now. It would likely take all day to find anyone. But you were determined. You started looking. You would've leave any room unchecked until you found someone.
The first open door you came across, surprisingly, proved to be a success. It was a bedroom, and sat on the floor at the foot of the bed was Oliver. His head was in his hands and his body was wracked with sobs. You would've thought he was faking it if he hadn't been in the room, alone, not expecting anyone to find him.
Before you could stop yourself, you blurted, "You did it, didn't you?"
His head snapped up to look at you. His face was red and tear stained. Was he crying because he was actually in mourning, or because he was guilty?
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said.
"I saw you last night," you admitted. "In the maze with Felix. You were the last person with him before he died."
"That doesn't mean I killed him."
"It doesn't, but it is suspicious."
"You're fucking crazy," he snapped. "I didn't fucking kill him. I loved him. He was my friend."
You didn't believe him. You just had this feeling dep down that Oliver had done this.
"Is that why you did it?" you asked. "Because you loved him, but he didn't love you back?"
He stood suddenly. You took a step back as he drew closer. You were playing with fire. If Oliver really had killed Felix, you probably shouldn't be pushing him. You definitely shouldn't have admitted to his face that you remembered seeing him in the maze with Felix. But you weren't afraid of him. You should've been, but you weren't. You were more curious about him than anything.
"I won't tell anyone," you heard yourself saying. "I just want to know."
This seemed to soften him. His eyes were welling up with tears again as he said, "He was going to kick me out. He wouldn't listen, wouldn't let me explain myself. I...I couldn't let him send me home. I can't go home."
You thought he meant he couldn't go home because of his parental issues that you had heard your mum and Elspeth gossiping about when you had been invited to the party. Imagine the shock you felt when Oliver told you everything; that he lied about his parents being drug addicts, his dad's death, even about the event that introduced him to Felix. It had all been a lie to get close to Felix, because he loved Felix.
At least, he had loved Felix, until he came to Saltburn. Now, he only loved Saltburn.
"He found out, and he told me to leave this morning," he said. "I tried to explain, but he wouldn't listen. He found out I wasn't damaged goods anymore, so he didn't want me. I got angry. I...I drugged the bottle of champagne."
He hung his head in guilt.
This poor boy, you thought to yourself. Poor, sad, crazy boy.
"So, what are you going to do now?"
He looked up at you. "What?"
"You said you didn't want to leave Saltburn. Felix was your ticket to staying, but now he's gone. So, what are you going to do to make sure you stay here?"
He looked at you for a long time, as if you had spoken to him in a foreign language and was trying to understand your words. "I can't stay. They won't let me."
"Listen, I know the Cattons fairly well. They don't do emotions. Anything bad happens, they just ignore it and pretend it didn't. It may be harder now that their son has died, but they will still try. You have to play along with that. Whatever they say or do, you just follow."
"That's not going to work for long. Once the funeral ends, they'll probably send me away. There's no reason for me to be here with Felix gone."
"Elspeth is already enamored by you. I heard the way she talked about you with my mum. With Felix gone, you're the closest she's going to have to him. I mean, Venetia is her literal daughter but she can't replace Elspeth's darling boy, and Farleigh is James' family, not hers. You just have to use that to your advantage. Be Elspeth's anchor during her grieving and she'll never want you to leave here."
He hadn't thought of that, and why would he? He didn't know the Cattons the way you did. He had all summer to study then, but you had your entire life to do so. You knew things about them that no one else did. It was about time to make use of that seemingly useless knowledge.
"Why are you helping me?" he asked. "Shouldn't you run to James and tell him I killed his son?"
That was the big question. Earlier, you were determined to tell anyone else in the family what you knew about Oliver and Felix's meeting. You hadn't meant to run into Oliver himself, it just happened that he was the first person you found. But when you did find him, and he was actually sad over Felix dying, your other objectives completely vanished from your mind. You were suddenly intrigued by Oliver's motives. You wanted to know more, to pick his brain. And now that you had, you'd be lying if you said you didn't feel sympathy for him.
Your family was wealthy, but they weren't Catton levels of wealthy. You had a big house, went to private school as a kid and then went to a prestigious college once you graduated, all paid for by your parents. But your life wasn't as extravagant as the Cattons were. They had a castle for God's sake! There were long standing rumors about best selling novels and hit songs being written about them. You may not have been friends with the Cattons yourself, but you did enjoy getting the small tastes of their life that you got every time you were invited to their place. You couldn't imagine how much Oliver, who wasn't actually poor or from a bad family but also certainly was not to your or the Catton's level of wealth, was enjoying the taste he got over the summer, and how hard it was going to be for him to be sent back to his regular life.
"You intrigue me," you finally said. "You're very...complex. And, truthfully, I don't blame you for not wanting to leave Saltburn. I'd give anything to own this place."
"Maybe...maybe we can work together," Oliver suggested. "You know a lot more than I do, so I'd really appreciate your help in staying here."
"What will you give me for helping you?"
"What can I give you?"
You thought for a moment. In the literal sense, there wasn't much Oliver could give you for helping him. But, in the figurative sense...
You looked at him again. He was watching you, waiting for an answer. Instead, you leaned towards him and kissed him. It was quick, a peck on the lips just to test the waters. You pulled away just as quickly as your lips had touched his, and watched his face for a reaction.
It took him a moment to process what had happened, and when he did, a small smile tugged at his lips. "Just one?"
You couldn't help but smile back at him. "One for every way I help you stay at Saltburn."
"Well, in that case, you've already given me two pieces of advice."
You giggled as you both leaned in to kiss again.
15 Years Later
You had just entered your and Oliver's apartment, newspaper in hand. You nudged the door closed with your hip as you flicked through the pages. It didn't take you long to find the page you were looking for: the obituaries.
There were a number of them, but they were all overshadowed by the biggest one, both figuratively and literally since it was taking up half the page.
"Lady Elspeth Catton passes away from her sudden illness. She leaves no family after the tragic deaths of her children, Felix and Venetia Catton, and the recent passing of her husband, Sir James Catton. She instead leaves her possessions, including the Catton estate of Saltburn, to her beneficiary, Oliver Quick."
Just as you finished reading the page, your cellphone rang. You pulled it from your pocket and smiled at Oliver's contact photo.
"I've just finished reading the news," you said as you answered the phone. "Poor Elspeth. Finally out of her misery, at least."
"She had a long battle," Oliver agreed. "Took her fuckin' ages to go."
"But it seems she chose a beneficiary for the estate. Some prat named Oliver Quick."
Oliver chuckled. "Get your ass to Saltburn. I've missed you too much."
"I'll be right there."
After Felix's death, you had helped Oliver to stay in Saltburn as long as possible. He had come up with getting rid of Farleigh and Venetia on his own, but you continued to feed him ways to stay in Elspeth's good graces for as long as he could. Eventually, however, Sir James had had enough of Oliver's presence and went as far as to bribe Oliver to leave.
During all that time plotting together, you two had started a relationship. Once James had kicked Oliver out of Saltburn, you had convinced your parents to let him stay with you until you both graduated from college and were ready to be out on your own. It wasn't the Catton castle by any means, but it was still better than going home to his small suburban life.
Many years had passed, but Oliver never forgot Saltburn. He reminisced on those months constantly. You were both hoping to sneak him back in with you if James or Elspeth had ever invited your family over, but it seemed James had an inkling to your plan, as the moment he found out you two had been dating he stopped inviting you specifically over. Your remembered your own father's outrage when James had invited them for dinner one evening, "But your daughter and that boy of hers are not invited."
When you both found out that Sir James had passed, it was like no time had passed at all. Even with a 15 year wrench in your plans, the two of you immediately went back to plotting. Oliver found out where Elspeth had been staying and arranged to "coincidentally" bump into her one day. As to be expected, Elspeth invited Oliver back to Saltburn with her. You stayed in your apartment and continued with your own work, getting occasional calls and texts from Oliver to keep you updated. It didn't take long for Elspeth to suddenly fall mysteriously ill, and when she had, you found yourself watching the papers every day to hear if she had finally passed.
Now that she had, Oliver finally owned Saltburn, and you could finally be with him in the place that you had both dreamed of for so long.
You took a cab to the castle that you had not seen in over a decade. You still couldn't help but marvel at how grand it was, how it hadn't changed a day since the last time you were there.
Oliver was waiting at the steps for you. You went to pay the cab driver, but Oliver stopped you to do it instead.
"No way my lady is paying such a ridiculous cab fare," he said. "Especially not when I've come into a large sum of money recently."
He all but pulled you from the cab and wrapped his arms around you. He kissed you deeply and passionately. If there wasn't the cab driver and one of the estate's butlers watching you, you were sure he would've taken your clothes off and had his way with you right there.
"Welcome home, love," he said against your lips.
He brought you into the house, telling the butler to bring your bags in as you passed him. It wasn't anything new inside, but you still couldn't help but take in the house. It had been so long, and yet you were still entranced by the magic of the house.
"It hasn't changed," you breathed.
"Not yet, anyways. We can fix that, if you want," Oliver said and placed a kiss on your cheek.
"I don't know. It's so old, it's almost like living in a museum. I would hate to ruin any of this history."
He was smiling at you. You couldn't help but smile back. After all these years, it was finally yours.
"You know," Oliver said, stopping in one of the many sitting rooms, "when we started this, we had a deal. You helped me, and in exchange I would give you something."
You giggled at the memory. "I think you already gave me a pretty heated exchange for this one."
"That wasn't the exchange, that was just an 'I missed you' kiss," he said. Your eyes followed him down as he got to one knee and pulled a ring from his pocket. "This is the real exchange."
Your eyes began to water as you looked at the beautiful diamond Oliver was holding out to you.
"Will you marry me?" he asked.
A laugh escaped your lips, but through your tears of happiness it came out more like a sob. "It took you long enough to ask."
Oliver laughed as well. "But is that a yes?"
"Of course it's a yes, you idiot."
He stood and took you into his arms again. This time, he kissed you with so much more passion than before that you felt like your head was going to explode.
Finally, the two of you were getting the lives that you always wanted.
The way Felix makes fun of his abusers is something that can be so personal
In Representation, Colt is portrayed as a ridiculous character, sporting a cowboy hat at all times (even when transformed!) and riding a missile to his own wedding. Yet the following scenes, which depict him verbally and physically abusing his son, remain absolutely terrifying.
Similarly, Gabriel exerted his control over the family in multiple ways, including but not limited to threatening to snap his own nephew out of existence, and yet.
This is Felix experiencing catharsis, because these men can’t punish him for it anymore. It’s so refreshing to see a character process their trauma through art and humour, without it being invalidated in any way.
I just love him so much. 💜🦚
