You don’t understand, I NEED to see how Adrien would pretend to be Félix for something. I need some sort of situation where Félix needs Adrien to pretend to be him for a few hours so he can get away for a while and for Adrien to at first be like, “You sure? I’m kinda rusty but I think I can pull it off!” And then for Adrien to immediately dial up the dramatics the second he’s in Félix’s clothes.
I need Adrien to exaggerate all of his cousin’s traits, being over the top cryptic, cold, and snarky one moment then a dramatic showman the next. I need Adrien to visibly be having so much fun because he’s helping his cousin by making fun of him a little. I need Félix to witness Adrien’s performance and be like, “Oh no, he’s terrible, this was a mistake—” but then be absolutely wrecked by the knowledge that NOBODY is noticing a difference aside from like, Kagami and have a mini crisis of “Is this how I act?? That’s not how I act?? How are they falling for this??”
And by the end of it Adrien is like, “Y’know, that was really fun! We should do this more often, I see why you do it all the time! :D” And Félix is just sitting there. Head in hands. Grappling with this new information.
Also just:
Adrien, pulling out an absurd amount of stolen rings out of his pockets: Also what do you do with these once you’ve got them? I might’ve committed to the role a little too much.
Kagami, nodding along very seriously: Your method acting is incredible.
Félix, staring in horror: I’m not a kleptomaniac… Am I?
#miraculous ladybug#felix graham de vanily#felix fathom#adrien agreste#senticousins#listen. I love Felix so I gotta make fun of him a little bit#and I NEED Adrien to get to the point where he can make fun of him more often#if Felix puts on a sad wet cat routine when pretending to be Adrien#and it WORKS#then I neeeeed to see the reverse#they’re just silly guys your honor#their dynamic is fantastic and I need more of it

yes the peacock miraculous obviously needs to be felix's and is extremely significant to him and there's so much poetry about the fact that he is the holder of the very miraculous that created him and him being the holder of it is deeply entrenched into the plot. HOWEVER.
sometimes i miss the cat!adrien vs dog!felix dynamic. because it was really fucking funny
#also like. if you listed out the personalities of adrien and felix to an unbiased third party#and asked them to assign one as dog and the other as cat#it would absolutely be dog!adrien and cat!felix. right? like it would.#adrien is like a little golden retriever who follows you around. felix knocks shit off your counters just to get a reaction out of you.#but no. cat!adrien dog!felix. like what the fuck is up with that. bring it back it was so weird#ladybug: aw darn :/ i gave the dog miraculous to the cat-coded guy by accident! i meant to give it to adrien. HE'S the dog guy#chat noir: excuse me?#also the fact they were fucking pet-coded?????? AND THEYRE SENTIMONSTERS??? FUCKED UP TBH. BRING IT BACK#buggachatter

as much as i love that scene where carolina has hooked felix and he’s holding wash and he’s like “if you drop me you drop him” and wash is like “DO! NOT! DROP! HIM!” it does make me emo bc like
yes it’s so silly goofy and it really makes it clear that wash like being gullible and silly like he was in pfl is just his normal personality when he’s not busy being traumatized
but also the fact that he /does/ feel the need to beg carolina to not drop him, that he’s not 100% that she’ll chose to save him if it means also keeping felix alive bc he KNOWS she gets so caught up in finishing the mission and succeeding and in pfl she wouldn’t have even given him the time to say that before dropping the both of them and so he prob has a real genuine fear for at least a moment that he made a mistake trusting her again and that she’s about to drop him so that she can handle locus on her own
#look the show just loves to forget that wash should have the worlds worst trust issues and i refuse to#plus him prob being scared that he’s being looked at like the rookie who screws everything up again#my poor little guy#rvb#red vs blue#agent carolina#agent washington#felix rvb

god dammit I knew there was a plot hole. guys chris is supposed to have no idea who felix is. I completely forgot that isaac mentioned him at the beginning of the season when he got hurt. I've been living in a universe where isaac and chris don't talk to each other for long enough that I figured chris was completely ostracized from that part of the plot and it never occurred to me that this happened.
I think I have to change ch2 to isaac failing to mention felix by name (he only does offhandedly, so it's not a huge change, but…). it bothers me, but to match the state of the story, I think I have to. arrrrrgh
edit:
this is the adjusted version from s2ch2. rather than mentioning felix wolfe by name, isaac doesn't specify who he is, so chris has no idea. hopefully this doesn't happen anywhere else :')
#side note wow? I'm so used to drew I'm sitting here like. why didn't chris immediately say he was sorry isaac got hurt#that aside. I am a little horrified that this mistake slipped through#that scene where felix gets chris's help is meant to just be funny. it's not really supposed to make chris seem like a terrible person#he hasn't talked to edward in like a month. he thinks of edward as the guy who beat up his friend multiple times (nevin)#ibvs

saltburn and privilege; an investigative tangent
god, where to begin.
i've seen a lot of people discussing this moving and specifically using the word "privilege," along with power, dominance, desire, control, greed, etc. me included. these are all very essential aspects of this movie. what i want to focus on is emerald fennell's nuanced portrayal of how different types of privilege interact. which one trumps the other? which types of privilege are more visible, while others are more subtle? what differentiates different levels and layers of privilege?
when emerald fennell describes the core of this movie, her inspiration for this script, she talks about desire versus untouchability. she chose the most absurd type of wealth to represent untouchability: the british aristocracy. old wealth, generational wealth, so far removed from the majority of their ancestors' sins that they can arguably ignore that the money they're standing on is dirty. and they live in fucking castles. this is one of the most unbelievable, gaudy, visible types of privilege you can imagine. everyone is entirely aware and feels entirely justified to call attention to this type of privilege.
oliver, being the main character, might be considered the least privileged within this movie. i'd like to take a critical look at this. this movie is not a straightforward class commentary; there is no traditional "the poor eat the rich" dynamic. because although some people perceive oliver as the least privileged character in this movie, he is incredibly privileged. oliver comes from a comfortable upper-middle-class home in the suburbs. oliver has two loving parents and two sisters. oliver is white. oliver is a man. interestingly, from oliver's perspective, he's not privileged at all. he hates the cattons because they are more wealthy, more comfortable, more untouchable. this extends to venetia and farleigh, even though oliver has applicable layers of privilege stacked above even them. he knows he has a certain type of power over them... yet he still hates them because they have one type of power he doesn't have.
that brings me to my next point. the existence of one type of privilege does not negate the effects of another, entirely different, type of privilege (or marginalization) [quote]. this is what venetia and farleigh's characters draw attention to. venetia experiences some of the same struggles as many women; she is ignored in her own household, perpetually existing within her brother's shadow (rosamund pike once lovingly pointed out that venetia does not have a single conversation with elspeth in this movie). she's insecure about her body and her worth, so she takes what little opportunity she has to use felix's friends as a form of self-fulfillment. farleigh is not only half black, but he's also queer, non-immediate family, and unaccustomed to english culture (specifically this type of english culture). farleigh is, in some ways, more financially unstable than oliver's family because his mom was too sheltered to understand money and his dad is, apparently, "a lunatic." (that's not to say farleigh isn't economically privileged because oh boy, he absolutely is).
this movie doesn't intend to incite pity from the viewers for any of these characters, and it generally doesn't. oliver is pathetically greedy, ungrateful, and desperate for a chance to lick the boots (or bathtubs) of those above him. venetia is pathetically bored of the privilege she does have yet is still so entrenched in emotional turmoil due to other areas in which she is marginalized. farleigh is pathetically attached to uninterrupted comfort and arbitrary white-centric expectations, constantly running from or attacking any threat of struggle. none of these people understand, comparatively, what the less fortunate experience. they are so ignorant to the bubble they exist in and just how grateful they should be for what monumental privileges they do have. but... felix.
felix is the epitome of privilege. oliver is specifically obsessed with felix. just like oliver, felix is a white man. but felix is more wealthy, more comfortable, more untouchable than oliver. oliver isn't as infatuated with farleigh and venetia because he's fully aware of the privilege they lack. he's fully aware of the privilege he holds above them, and he enthusiastically uses this power he has against them. to be in the position of oliver is to be consumed by jealousy and greed so bottomless that you will assert your dominance over any group that you're able to. felix doesn't need to do this. he's been handed every privilege under the sun and therefor welcomes the less fortunate with childlike interest and an equally childlike attention span. there's an aspect of farleigh and venetia's marginalization that is so invisible, so quiet and unassuming, that felix doesn't even notice it. he can't possibly be confronted by it. to be in the position of oliver is to understand what power you hold over others, because there is always more power to have.
racism, sexism, wealth, power, control, desire. there are so many facets of this movie that come into play. it may seem overwhelming, but this is... how things work. commentary on wealth is, and should be, equally a commentary on other areas of privilege. to be black and wealthy means different things than to be white and wealthy. to be a wealthy woman means different things than to be a wealthy man. to be rich to some also means you're much less rich than others, unless you're the richest person in the world. and, as this movie so beautifully portrays, to be richer than most doesn't make you less messy. the catton family is an ugly one, but also a complexly human one. each catton (or start) is jealous of someone else for another reason. each catton is emotionally damaged or incompetent for another reason. each catton has a different layer of privilege over the other. and each catton loves everyone in saltburn, because this is still a family, albeit a terrible one.
#saltburn#saltburn 2023#oliver quick#felix catton#venetia catton#farleigh start#elspeth catton#sir james catton#ahhh to be a rich white man#felix is portrayed as some godlike mythic creature for a reason#he's literally just a guy#oliver is also a rich white man#yet he sees someone more rich than him and starts frothing at the mouth#i know i said all the characters r pathetic but venetia and farleigh are a special kind of pathetic#i could genuinely see those two popping their little bubble and getting a grip#well vee is dead as hell#farleigh though.#or maybe hilton als was fully correct and farleigh will keep being the token non-white LMFAO#als was so real for that#i like to stay hopeful though

I don't want to start shit but the funniest argument you can have against feligami is that felix somehow is manipulating / controlling kagami. You mean the guy whose whole thing is that he hates sentis being controlled. As if he holds any power over her. Ah yes, the same guy who detransformed in front of her willingly because she was about to pummel him with a fucking chair, totally powerful. And the part where he showed her he meant no threat by throwing his fan away so it would get her mother off their trail-- so awful and menacing of him. I'm so scared for Kagami, yall. He might have put himself in harms way by going against Tomoe (who turned into like the size of a skyscraper and multiplied four times at this point) literally just so he could get to know her; but let's not forget that he's COMPLETELY EVIL and wiped out the entire planet with the help of his amok... which he promptly stopped doing after being told that he shouldn't do that by Kagami herself. The fact that Kagami has years of fencing training and could easily defend herself from him-- hell, the fact that she's best friends with Ladybug and could have turned him in to the heroes at any moment in those sewers if she was uncomfortable around him-- no, none of that brings me any solace. i'm quaking in my boots at this 15 year old boy built like a twig. He's a monster guys.
Look at them at the pool together -- she looks so afraid, clearly he forced her to be there. Ignore the part where she's happily sat next to him of her own free will. He's gonna hurt her for sure. Kagami needs to be protected from him, because she cannot take care of herself obviously. The horror.
#Sorry i am the world's biggest felix defender he can do nothing wrong to me#felix graham de vanily#kagami tsurugi#Felix is a sad little puppydog he wouldn't hurt a fly on her head I promise#I'm just saying but if you're going to be afraid of ANYONE you should be afraid of kagami lol#'he kidnapped her!' kidnapping is a strong word she could have easily decked him#i mean she was literally 5 feet away from him with a fucking CHAIR she was ready to fight!!!!!#hell he wouldve returned her happily if she'd asked nicely#Yall dont get him like i do!#indiposts#feligami#felix#kagami#ml#dont ask me about emotion i don't remember it#But like. she was clearly not being manipulated in emotion either. she was fine#Guys you do not need to baby kagami she'll be ok. she can take care of herself.

Concept: Mouse Holder Félix. He’s everywhere.
His powers allow him not only to multiply himself, but essentially control a hive mind of tiny versions of him? He immediately sees allll the things he can keep an eye on at one time.
Adrien opens his bag and yelps because a tiny Mouse!Félix is there like, “Finally, I’ve been waiting to talk to you for at least half an hour.” and Adrien is like, “You couldn’t have texted??” and Félix replies with, “No, this is more discreet. Also more dramatic. Anyways-”
Kagami is enamored with Mouse!Félix. She can hold him in the palm of her hand. He chills in her pocket. She can sneak him into any place she wants. There are many benefits to Mouse!Félix.
I also just imagine there’s like, a spy network of many Félixs watching the city and tracking down leads. However even if he manages to bypass the timer and not detransform, I do think he probably gets killer migraines from being in Multitude for too long due to needing to process what every version of him is experiencing at once and getting major overstimulation after a while. Do you see my vision.
#miraculous ladybug#haven’t decided on a name yet#names are hard sometimes but maybe I’ll tinker around with it later#I just want you to imagine Mouse!Félix whispering into Kagami’s hear while perched on her shoulder#and she’s giggling and neither will tell anyone else what he said#he’s a little guy. he’s a menace. he needs someone to force him to take a break.#have I convinced you yet?#felix graham de vanily#felix fathom#kagami tsurugi#adrien agreste#does this count as Feligami?#SB Speaks#slowly but surely I’m giving him every miraculous to see what happens

the "argos is part of the superhero team" thing is soooo funny, because it is so ridiculous and he looks so out of place and I'm sure it's super awkward for everyone involved and very difficult to explain. But it DOES make sense. And I totally believe it. It's just a really funny and awkward situation.
(I mean, what else is Ladybug going to do with him? Initiate battle with him (and by extension, Ryuko) to pry his miraculous from him? And then what? She seems to believe none of the miraculouses should be kept in the same place.... so who would she give it to? Whoever wields it will instantly learn that Adrien and Felix and Kagami are sentimonsters from a glance at their rings. Whoever wields it will automatically become privy to the horrors. Whoever wields it has the ability to murder her boyfriend in a split second if they choose to not value his life. Whoever wields it will have to be given a long ethics class on the treatment and value of sentimonsters and life etc etc etc.... a class that can only be meaningfully taught by like... felix himself?)
but yeah it's pretty funny
#also just a side note— I've seen people say that argos will learn chat noir's identity from it but I don't think so?#I think the magic that shields their identities also magically shields the rings#they aren't technically on chat noir's finger. they're in like.... plagg's magical hammerspace where he keeps adrien's schoolbag and shoes#this is also why I think Chat Blanc survived the explosion btw. you can't cataclysm something that isn't physically there#to be fair it is POSSIBLE and it'd be interesting to see fanworks depicting it! but i personally dont expect it from canon tbh#ml spoilers#ml s5 spoilers#ml s5 finale spoilers#re-creation spoilers#ml re-creation#recreation spoilers#ml recreation#everything felix is just so funny to me. what a funny guy. what a little twerp who gets in such weird situations. good for him

for your consideration:
ralph and calhoun holding felix’s hands and lifting him up like this when they walk
#not even necessarily in an ot3 way but I suppose it could be#but just like. that’s their little guy you know#I feel like they would try it with vanellope and she’d be like ‘I’m not a little kid what are you doing’#felix would be unsure if he should be offended at first but then he’d enjoy it
