How does one get followers who actually talk to them?

I have soooooo much I want to write about Doctor Odyssey and if I keep waiting for the perfect moment to write something PROPERLY GOOD AND COMPREHENSIVE then I’m simply going to explode. So instead I’m going to write a messy little post on my phone when half asleep and try to keep it to one main topic.

Yeah yeah the throuple had a threesome (and I’m foaming at the mouth over it) but can we talk about the THEMES!!!!

This show is for crazy people (me specifically). Once again, I have a lot to say, but for now let me just focus on the wedding episode itself. That threesome is informed by the context of the rest of the episode in a way I simply CANNOT get over.

Let’s look at our passengers: the bride, groom, and best man. We find out all of them are being unfaithful to each other in various ways, miserable in their silence and unhealthy relationship dynamics. They all went to school together and were once close, but things went wrong somewhere along the way. The best man’s speech implies he has feelings for the groom, the groom is a sex addict who’s had multiple partners (possibly the best man included) because he feels trapped in a lie, and the bride and best man are having sex with each other. And none of them are communicating about it, and the groom who had preexisting mental health struggles commits suicide.

What happens to the three of them is a tragedy and it is absolutely a result of heteronormative monogamous culture. That culture was passed down from the bride’s mother to her too by example and societal influence.

I’m not exaggerating. It’s not subtle!!! At all!!! Everything explodes for those passengers because monogamy and repressing bisexuality wasn’t working for them.

They’re a dark mirror and cautionary tale. (Bonus points for how Avery’s sad backstory is that she was betrayed by her longtime friend / brief husband who cheated on her with a mutual friend as well, which is why she’s definitely hesitant about love now.)

By comparison, Avery and Max and Tristan have been avoiding some similar big pitfalls: they know they’re into each other and it’s not a secret, rivalries keep being squashed with effort, and no one is pressuring anyone to choose (so far).

This is what our beloved main characters have on their minds before what follows. And again, let’s not even get to the sex part yet… THE BUCKET LISTS!!! I’m losing my Goddamn marbles!!! The way all 3 of their lists intersect? Holy shit. Off the top of my head: Max and Tristan want to fall in love and have kids, Avery and Max want to see the world, Tristan and Avery have niche interests outside of medicine that they want to explore more… We were given itemized lists to show how the 3 of them balance and round each other out perfectly.

It’s not about any 2 of them because it won’t work with just any 2. It’s ALL THREE — just like all the framing and blocking of shots is consistently all 3, they walked down the wedding aisle all 3 together, the first sex scene for any of them that WE as the audience see on screen is all 3 of them together, a “bad threesome” is defined as 2 people getting too wrapped up in each other and the 3rd being an accidental outsider, we often see that if one duo gets a couple-y moment then the other duos get similar moments later as well, etc etc. Sorry. Let me not continue the summary list here and now so I don’t get too sidetracked but there’s A LOT.

But like, my current point? That wedding episode is a goldmine and the threesome explicitly happening doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Far from it. The themes are themeing in the whole show, of course, which is part of what I want to write about elsewhere at some point too: this show is repeatedly very deliberate about making sure heterosexuality or monogamy aren’t framed as the default or only correct options, and queerness is sprinkled everywhere. But this wedding episode specifically… the themes were nearly the ONLY PLOT. Nothing else — it’s basically only that, and it’s very focused. The failures of monogamy are on full display. And that’s why and how we get an explicit threesome right after it, which will lead us into how things will continue to develop for our trio.

Now, as for why the threesome happens so relatively quickly? My hot take on that is that general audiences can be stupid and so the creators wanted to put the throuple explicitly on screen fairly early to get people to start Noticing. Show them how the characters need to be together… and that sets us up for the possible angst and tension to follow as they have to accept it emotionally for themselves too. Now, as an audience member, you’ll more strongly know what to root for. You’ll know what’s right because you’ve seen it and you’ll want them to get back to that place, come what may. (If you’re not a puritan.)

It’s so fucking good. Insane silly show for insane people. Are we seeing the vision??? I need everyone to lock in.

This ramble is probably a disaster and I apologize for that but ohhhh man I had to put SOME words down so I wouldn’t explode. Suffice it to say I’m having a ball up in this bitch and I cannot believe this show exists. I couldn’t believe my eyes and my brain cells in the pilot, and I REALLY can’t believe them now.

like i'm gonna touch your hand as i say this. it's okay if you hate her! just don't pretend that you weren't thriving in the 2016 era of silm fandom where everyone pushed all their male fave's negative traits onto any other woman in a 5 mile radius to grab Poor Little Meow Meow status for war criminal #1 #2 and #3 to then turn around and spout the exact same (factually untrue) sexist rhetoric concealed under seven layers of buzzwords just because it's the year of "unlikable and complicated female characters" like buddy who are we talking about here. have you perhaps considered making an oc?

and i'm NOT saying i want the whole fandom to mimic my exact opinions and thoughts about elwing i realise that one of the best parts of the silm is how divisive it is and how you have so much wiggle room to come to your own interpretations because of how VAGUE the source material is but i'm genuinely convinced everyone's just parroting shit they saw in ao3 fanfics where maglor is secretly lindir and the premise is elrond sneaking him into valinor and elwing yells at him for slaughtering her people. TWICE. and this is framed as a category 5 Woman Moment so elrond disowns her and calls maglor his real dad

5) Share one of your strengths.

I have a hard time doing this since I’m not always the most confident writer in the world, but I think I’m really good at mixing philosophy with writing. One of my favorite things to do is explore characters’ belief systems and their morals, what they view as right and good and natural, and I think I’ve gotten good at portraying that through writing. Specifically I think I’ve gotten really good at writing about Mulder’s self-sacrificial complex, and I’m also proud of how I wrote Scully’s relationship with miracles in Caught on Tape and her views on the symbiotic nature of her and Mulder’s partnership in Piece Me Together.

28) Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Only three?!?! This fandom has so so many talented writers! But I’ll try.

@california-112 just finished their October ficlet series, and I highly recommend checking it out. They’re fantastic at all genres, but I especially love all of their hurt/comfort oneshots and there are PLENTY to be found! They’re so multitalented, you’ll find something in the series for everyone. I’ll link it here.

@baronessblixen is a staple in this fandom, so I’m sure I don’t need to explain, but I call her the queen of fluff for a reason. I cannot write fluff at all, so every time I read her work I am in awe of how she’s able to make me feel so good and floaty without being over the top or saccharine. She’s also hilarious! And though she dabbles less in angst, the few fics I’ve read where she has have been fantastic!

Here’s two of my favorites by her.

Finally we have @thursdayinspace who needs no introduction. From angst to fluff, there’s nothing they can’t write, and reading one of their fics is a guaranteed good experience. These are the fics I will remember for weeks to come and reread over and over again. I can’t speak to any of their explicit stuff bc that’s not my thing personally, but I know it’s pretty beloved in the fandom, so do check it out if it’s your thing!

Here’s a few of my favorites but I recommend all of their stuff!

And even though she’s on a TXF hiatus right now, shout-out to @theswisscheeserag ! My favorite mutual beta reader who never fails to make me laugh. She is actually the funniest writer ever but her stuff is also deeply poignant. All of her stuff is fantastic, but Redial will always be one of my favorites.

ALWAYS! What I do NOT accept are time-sensitive prompts because I am a busy college student and will not make promises I don’t know I can keep. HOWEVER I absolutely adore getting prompts and if you send me a prompt it will absolutely make my day always and forever.

Every review makes my day! The fact that people are actually reading my work shocks me daily (in the best way).

But @emmiebea left a comment on Raise Your Voices that really made my day, because they said that they actually follow the folk music links I include with each chapter and have been enjoying them. hey, darlings.

a lot of you would have heard today that liam payne has passed away in argentina. i have plenty of strong opinions about what happened, but i'm not inclined to share them. tbh the social climate about this has been far from its best, and i'm really struggling with being online right now. we all know, especially those of us that are significantly younger than our idols, that we are somewhat likely to outlive the celebrities and artists that we love. i have been painfully aware of that fact since bob saget passed nearly three years ago now, and i knew somewhere in me that the odds are, i would outlive many of the people that i currently look up to. but the last thing i expected, with this knowledge, was to wake up on a random thursday to news that liam payne had fallen to his death. that someone who i have loved for so long, who's art i have grown up with, who's music made a considerable difference in my life. my relationship with my sister is built on the foundation of our shared love for the six albums liam created both in the band and solo, and his story of addiction and sobriety is something that was really important to my own mental health and my ongoing recovery. i don't think it's fair for me to say that i loved him like i knew him. i didn't know him. he wasn't a tourist attraction for me to just admire. i love his art, and i love the person he was publicly. i'm grieving the loss of his life. i'm grieving for all the people he should've had the opportunity to become. i'm grieving for all of the art he will never get to make. i'm grieving for the millions of young people who have lost someone they valued and looked up to, and i'm grieving for his loved ones who now have to live with this, and his son especially. ultimately, i think this death has brought on grief that i have been repressing for the last few weeks. i've really struggled with allowing myself the luxury of feeling certain recent losses of relationships and loved ones, and this was kind of... the last straw, in a way. enough weight to finally tip the scales. as i said; i'm really struggling with the climate online at the moment. the way people were treating liam was disgusting beforehand, and it's worse now. i truthfully just want to shut off all my electronics, curl under the sheets and cry. but i can't do that right now; life goes on. what i can do, for my own peace of mind and my own grief right now, is take a step back. i'll be withdrawing from some upcoming ficfests, and i'll be pulling away from the fandom a little bit. my beloved mutuals, i will still be around and talking to you all. but i won't be creating or consuming anything related to the boys and especially liam for a little while. i just... i need some space. it's too much for me right now. i'm burnt out, i'm exhausted, i'm grieving. i dont know if i'll be able to exist in that fandom space again any time soon, or at all. i'll be pulling out of fandom events and i'll be working out what my limits are for existing in this space. and i'll be praying for not only liam, his girlfriend, and his friends, but especially for bear. i implore you all to keep them, if not in your prayers, in your thoughts.

Barely three weeks have passed since your first impromptu dance with Silco before you find yourself happily in his arms once more.

It had all begun one evening, the two of you sitting opposite one another in a booth dubbed the ‘quiet’ corner, planning upcoming missions with your heads close together to hear over the music and chatter of the bar. 

And although you’d started with business, as it always seemed to happen with you two, the conversation had easily devolved onto other topics, including recent mission successes and failures, the events of the week you'd yet to fill each other in on, bets on which of the new recruits were secretly dating, and your personal favourite: funny memories from your time growing up together.

The one that had been laughed over tonight was the time that you and Silco had decided to play The Floor is Lava as young children growing up in Zaun. Of course, the game had ended rather quickly when Silco had nearly given Vander a concussion, deciding to jump onto the tall boy’s back without any warning to avoid falling into the ‘Lava’, causing them both to fall and slam sideways into the nearest dumpster.

Vander still had a little scar on his arm from where he’d caught it on the corner of the metal. 

In fact, you were so caught up in your conversation, completely oblivious to the rest of the world around you, neither of you had noticed the other core members of the group returning home for the evening. Or when the customers had slowly started to filter out as the night wore on. Or even when Vander had shouted for last orders in his great, booming voice. 

At some point, Silco had challenged you to a game of darts, which had soon devolved into you both trying to cheat; you trying to get closer and closer to the board without him noticing, and him coughing loudly every time you tried to throw. 

Late into the evening, neither of you had really acknowledged Vander when he’d called over to you both, now the only people left on the bar floor, telling you that he was locking up for the night. 

And now, in the quiet, early hours of the morning, you find yourself lying on top of the bar, your head hanging off the edge of one side and your feet dangling off the other. Beside you, Silco is perched on the closest bar stool, his back against the wood as he faces the empty seats. 

"You shouldn't hang upside down like that,” he says with a hint of concern underneath his smooth voice. “You're going to give yourself a headache.”

You bat the observation away before it can run in circles around your mind for the rest of the week.  

"What would you do if you were rich?" you ask, feeling the blood rush to your head. 

The bar looks different from upside down, you decide. You’d never really noticed the ceiling before, or how tall the booths were. 

"I'd pay for a restraining order so I wouldn't have to listen to your ridiculous questions anymore," Silco answers sardonically. 

You try to slap his arm but the fact that you’re upside down means you miss completely, swiping through the air futilely. The rapid movement makes you feel dizzy.

"Shut up," you say as you sit up on the bar, waiting a few moments for your vision to right itself before swinging around so you’re next to Silco, your legs dangling beside him. 

You knock his arm with the side of your leg, jostling his thin body to the side. 

"You'd miss me far too much." 

"I wouldn't miss the headache I get from your constant talking," he retorts, massaging his temples like he hasn’t willingly been talking to you for the last six hours straight. 

A huff of air through your nose at his, quite frankly, terrible manners before you continue your previous train of thought.

"If I was rich, I'd buy us a mansion and I'd build you a whole room filled with fish tanks and then you could have your own personal aquarium," you tell him, glancing up at the ceiling of the bar like you’re gazing into the starry night sky. 

Of course, you expect a snarky comment in return, or at the very least, a signature roll of his eyes, but when you turn to look at him you find him staring at you, his expression intense and difficult to read. 

It feels incredibly raw and vulnerable to have those seafoam eyes peering into your soul like that, so you carry on speaking, if only to break the odd tension. 

"Oh! And we could have a massive ballroom with chandeliers where we could hold grand parties every night." 

Finally, the eye roll makes its appearance. 

"Please don't tell me you're still thinking about that-"

You jump down off the bar and place yourself right in front of him. 

"Let's see if we can remember that dance we learned when we were Topside!" you say, your face lighting up at your own brilliant idea. 

Silco groans, dramatically tipping his head back to look at the ceiling. 

You know it’s all for show; you remember the gentle way he’d held you as you’d danced, the way his eyes had darted to your lips, and the adorable pink of his cheeks that had followed it. Of course you remember it, you re-play it in your mind every single night while you’re trying to fall asleep. 

"Come on, it'll be fun!" you try to persuade him. 

He drops his head back down to meet your gaze, his brows furrowed and lips pushed into a huffy little pout. 

It’s entirely too cute and without thinking, you step forward so you’re standing right between his legs, your hands resting on his shoulders. 

As if you’ve flicked a switch, his exaggerated expression immediately sobers, fingers clutching the glass in his hands so tightly, the skin on his knuckles turns white. 

Those captivating eyes stare at you intensely, waiting for your next move. 

"Pretty please? I'll even buy the first round tomorrow," you say, putting on your best puppy dog eyes. 

You watch in fascination as his eyes flicker across your face, taking in your expression as a flush of red lines his neck. 

And just as you think he’s going to lean forward and bring you even closer, Silco breaks eye contact and runs a hand through the dark waves of his hair.

"We own the bar, you don't even pay for drinks in the first place," he grumbles, but turns to put his drink on the bar behind him as if in acquiescence. 

You squeal and clap your hands in delight, moving across the bar to push the chairs to the side of the room. Silco even helps you carry some of the tables out of the way until you have a big enough space to dance in. 

With a make-shift dance floor now ready, Silco saunters back over to the bar to take a swig of his drink, but just before he can lift it to his lips, you grab his hand and pull him back to the empty space.

"Hey!" he protests, managing to safely put his drink back on the bar and narrowly avoiding letting it drop to the floor.

"I just wanna practise the steps a few times before we put on the music, you can have a drink after," you tell him, quite graciously if you were to say so yourself. 

"I swear to Janna, you're going to be the death of me," he groans dramatically and you childishly stick your tongue out at him in retort. 

To your surprise, as you begin to run over the steps you’d learnt all those weeks ago on that Topside roof, you find it all comes back to you in a matter of minutes. The arm hold instantly feels natural as Silco makes you feel safe in his strong arms. And the movements come back to you fairly easily as well.

Back, side, close. Forward, side, close. Back, side, close. Forward, side, close. 

When you’re happy enough, you break free of Silco’s gentle grip and practically skip over to the jukebox. And although it takes a few minutes to find a song that would fit the steps, you manage to spot one, fishing out a coin you’d stolen from Silco earlier in the evening, pressing play and making sure to jam the button so that the song will loop.

You spot Silco nursing his drink at the bar again, his eyes darting away from you when you turn back around, so of course, you march over to him and drag him back to the centre of the room, hiding your smirk at catching him watching you. 

Back once again in the warmth of his arms, you try to match the steps to the music. In truth, it’s a little bit stilted to begin with as you work together to find a rhythm, but you soon get the hang of it again, waltzing around the rugged bar as if you were in your very own enchanted ballroom. 

In fact, once you’re completely in the flow of it, the two of you even manage to turn in a circle together, lightly angling each step so you face a different corner of the room until you’re slowly completing full turns.

Your legs continually chase after one another, a grown-up version of the way you and Silco used to chase each other as children, one always following the other. Never truly apart for long. 

Now that you no longer have to focus so much on the steps, your attention easily becomes fixated on every single place where Silco’s body brushes against your own. Even the slightest graze sets your nerves alight as you become hyper-aware of just how good it feels to have him touching you like this. 

Of course, you’re used to touching Silco by now, given how long you’ve known each other and how close you’ve gotten over the years. But, gods, does this feel different. 

You’d never have thought that his arms could be so strong, yet so gentle all at once. You can feel the muscles of his back and shoulder rolling with each step, his fingers carefully entwined with yours as if you’re something precious, something to be treasured and held onto forever. 

As the dance progresses, you soon become aware of Silco’s hand tracing shapes on your back. Long, curious fingers perform a dance of their own, getting lower and lower and lower, until he catches himself and suddenly jerks them back up to your waist. 

Wide, seafoam eyes snap to yours before scarred lips blurt out a question, as if to distract you from what he just did. 

"Why are you so obsessed with these Piltie dances?" he asks, clearing his throat when his voice comes out as a deep rumble. 

You look up at him, feeling a sudden bout of bashfulness at the light blush on the top of his cheeks. Your breath catches for a moment. 

Has he always been this beautiful?

Of course, you can’t tell him the truth. There’s no way you can tell him that it’s not the dance you’re in love with. 

It’s him. 

You wouldn’t care about the dance one single iota if you were sharing it with someone else. 

"I don't know…" you mumble shyly, looking down at your feet to avoid his penetrating gaze. "I just think they're fun." 

Silco lets go of your hand and you momentarily panic that you’ve upset him, but it quickly joins the other around your lower back as he pulls you almost fully against him. Your now free hand unconsciously moves to loop up and around his neck, clasping your fingers together to rest on the nape, just below his hairline. 

By now, you’re no longer doing the proper steps despite the same music looping on the jukebox. Instead, you find yourself gently swaying from side to side, still turning slowly in a circle. It feels incredibly natural. As if you were born to be in each other’s arms like this, dancing together until the end of time. 

Perhaps you were. 

You only realise that you’ve been staring at the little peek of his chest you can see under the very top of his shirt when his fingers come to lightly rest on the underneath of your chin, tilting your head up to meet his gaze. 

His searching expression sends your heart into overdrive. 

"Do you really want to live Topside?” he asks quietly, too intensely for your liking. As if your answer rests upon the fate of the world. “Is that what you would do if you had enough money?"

Your voice comes out as a shaky whisper, despite your absolute certainty in the answer. 

"No.”

Silco leans down closer so your noses are nearly touching, his breath on your cheek as his voice drops to a low, aching rumble. 

"Then what do you want to do?"

It comes to you completely unbidden, in one rushed intake of breath. I don't care, as long as it's with you. 

He looks down at you with hope swimming in his seafoam eyes and you find yourself trembling at the thought of telling him how much your feelings have deepend these past few weeks. How easily you’ve fallen for your best friend. 

"I… I want to…" 

The loud slam of a door upstairs makes you jump in surprise. You jerk forward, accidentally stepping on Silco’s foot which causes you to lose balance and tip forward into him.

To his credit, Silco attempts to right you, but your legs get tangled together and you cry out as the two of you begin to fall. Instinctively, your eyes snap shut until you both hit the floor with a thud.

As quickly as they had shut, your eyes are once again open, only to find Silco examining you with clear concern. 

"Shit, are you okay?" he asks, looking you up and down as if searching for any noticeable injuries, before methodically ticking over your face for any sign of pain. 

It’s at this point you realise that the way you fell forward into Silco means you’re now pretty much sitting in his lap, clutching onto each other as if you’re the other’s lifeline.

You’re sitting in Silco’s lap. You’re sitting in Silco’s lap. 

A wave of giddiness floods through you and you feel yourself blushing at the position you’ve found yourself in. Suddenly overcome with a rush of feelings, you burst into hysterical laughter, clutching Silco even tighter.

Shit. You must be more tipsy than you thought… (even though you’ve barely had half a glass the whole night and you know it).

Silco looks startled to begin with but your laugh must prove infectious because soon his slight chuckles turn into full blown cackling. 

And that’s how the two of you find yourself sitting on the floor of the bar, clinging to one another, and laughing so hard you’re practically in stitches, even as somebody very loudly stomps down the stairs and onto the bar floor. 

You almost jump out of your skin when Sevika suddenly yells at the top of her voice. 

"Can you two shut the fuck up and go to bed?!” Then, she adds with an irritated huff, “Some of us have to work in the morning." 

Your mouths snap shut instantly, staring at her from across the room with wide eyes as she glares down at you both. Immediately, you’re forced to bite down on your lip as your body threatens to send you into another fit of giggles.

The way Sevika is standing and the way she’d spat her crabby words at you had made her sound like an old man, and your brain automatically conjures up an image of her wearing slippers, and a blanket, and carrying a newspaper.

Beside you, Silco must be picturing the same thought, because his shoulders begin to move against you with silent, held-back laughter. 

The motion makes you involuntarily snort and you slap a hand over your mouth in amused horror.

And that’s the end of your attempt at decorum because both you and Silco instantly burst into loud laughter again, giggling like a pair of children as you watch each other devolve into hysterics. 

Across the bar, Sevika groans loudly, turning to stomp back upstairs, with a grumble that sounds a lot like, “Fucking get a room already.”

But you’re too distracted by Silco letting out his own accidental snort of laughter to pay any attention. 

Once her footsteps have fully receded, you and Silco are left to gradually calm down, your laughter naturally slowing until there’s just the odd giggle, and finally… eventually… you both fall into a comfortable silence, trying to get your breath back. 

And with the way your chest aches from laughing so hard, it takes you a lot longer than normal to realise that Silco’s hand has been tracing tiny, soothing circles on your waist for a little while now. 

Your breath catches at the realisation and you look up at him to find him already looking at you in barely-masked wonder. 

He gives your waist a gentle squeeze. 

“Come on, my little dancer, let’s get you to bed before Sevika tries to knock us both out,” he says with a soft smile. 

You blanch in mock offence, holding one hand flat against your sternum. 

“Uh, excuse you, I could beat Sevika in a fight with my eyes closed.”

Silco huffs an amused breath of air through his nose.

“Yeah, and I’m the King of Zaun,” he retorts sarcastically. 

The mental image of him dressed in full regalia, a crown nestled in his dark locks seems oddly fitting, and you grin up at him with genuine happiness. 

It’s so easy to laugh with him. So easy to talk. To just be yourself…

How can one boy make you this happy?

The thought sends your heart aflutter. 

Unaware of your new revelation, Silco helps you to stand up and leaves you by the bottom of the stairs momentarily to turn off the bar lights. And as you watch him saunter his way over to the light switch, it makes you wonder what you would do if you had enough money to leave Zaun.

Could you really leave your home? The ersatz city you fight for everyday? The eccentric people you’ve come to love?

While it’s all you dreamed of as a child, you’re not certain you could anymore. 

But the one thing you are certain of, is that you’re not going anywhere without Silco.

- I got into the marine ecology lab at my school that I have been pushing for entrance into, despite missing a pre-req. I get to be on a boat for eight hours next quarter! Woohoo!

- I got fanart for a fic I am very proud of but very rarely interact with anybody about, which has boosted my confidence and made me feel really good, and each comment I've gotten since they posted the art has made my heart sing extra loud!

Favourite thing? He’s the most some guy ever. Just a little creature. He’s so relatable because who among us hasn’t been in a situation where we feel wildly outclassed and surrounded by people who are cooler and more talented than us? Despite everything he just keeps going, what a legend

Least favourite is people who are wrong about him. How does anyone play that game and say he’s a nothing character? I just don’t get it, stop disrespecting my son

Honestly he’s got way more excellent lines than people give him credit for, but my favourite has to be “I always choose meat over veggies because I’m still in my teens… my meat teens.” Like WHAT are you talking about king I love it

Brotp probably him and Aoi. It’s the positivity besties

Otp is Naegiri. There’s just so much mutual respect between them and the story does a great job of writing them together that I can’t help but love him

Notp is probably just him with anyone that’s not kirigiri, or togami really. Whilst I personally hc Byakuya as aroace I do get why people ship naegami and I do think it’s kinda hilarious

I hc that him and Komaru are besties. Absolutely attached at the hip. They hang out all the time and he loves doing stuff with her, and is so so excited to introduce her to his new friends

To put it as succinctly as possible, he is just my favourite type of guy. He’s such a bitch, he’s so snarky about everything, he’s simultaneously the smartest and dumbest person in any given room, and he actually cares very deeply for things but he won’t readily admit to it. He’s got one of the more interesting arcs to me and in general I find him very relatable. He’s the best, my favourite protagonist probably

Least favourite is maybe less about him and more about Izuru Kamukura, and that is how underused he was. Obviously this is an opinion many people know about me, but it bears repeating because the concept of Kamukura was SO COOL and they barely even touched it and I’m mad about it every single day

Another guy that has so many good lines, but I think my favourite is “I thought I’d finally become someone I could be proud of, not some fucking backup student.” It just hits me so hard every time

Brotp probably him and Fuyuhiko or him and Impostor. I just think those three are the ones in the group with the highest sense of responsibility and they are the tired parents of this silly goofy pack of weirdos

Otp. It’s Komahina. Everyone knows this about me and I will refrain from writing an entire essay about why but suffice it to say. They are prefect

Notp is really anyone who’s not Komaeda, but specifically Nanami and Tsumiki are big on the No list for me

I have so many headcanons that my adhd brain can’t even begin to process them in a cohesive way, so I’ll just say that emo-punk autistic Hinata is my absolute beloved. Also man’s definitely has an anxiety disorder. And nooooo I’m definitely not projecting why do you ask

Unpopular opinion (so far the only character I’ve had one for) is that he’s not bi, he’s just gay. And look I love headcanoning every character ever as bi (again tooooootally not projecting) but whenever I replay/rewatch the game I see him being so gay about the men and being so uninterested in the girls (excepted for the super-forced hinanami stuff that I ignore)

I have sooooo many songs so I had to think about this a lot but I think I’m gonna say the best Hinata song is Life Less Frightening by Rise Against

It’s so hard to pinpoint why I love Saihara so much, but I think part of it is the fact that underneath his anxious exterior, he is actually very snarky. I’m always a slut for the sarcastic characters and I like the he is that as well as being generally polite to his classmates. He cares deeply and has a tendency to overthink things (totally not relatable) and I just need to give this poor man a HUG

Least favourite thing is how he interacts with Ouma in the canon outside of ftes. A good example of this being when he finds Ouma bleeding from the head on the floor and doesn’t seem to show any actual concern for him, which seems very out of character to me. I just think there was a lot more they could’ve done to build a connection between protag and antag that would’ve served to make the story more interesting, much the way the relationship between Hinata and Komaeda does

Short and sweet, my favourite Saihara line is simply “I refuse.” I am a big supporter of the idea that Shuichi should’ve been allowed to go a little crazy in chapter 6, and his whole telling off hope and despair speech was very fun. He really went “fuck you and your stupid game” and I just love it

Brotp has gotta be Kaito and Maki. I love the training trio and I think they have a great dynamic

Otp is saiouma. And yes I know I just raised a complaint about their lacklustre interactions in the game, but hey, canon can’t hurt me if I don’t look. There is a lot of potential for excellent character dynamics and that’s what I’m gonna focus on

Notp is saimatsu. Sorry anyone who likes them but it’s so comphet to me. Again, that is a gay boy and a lesbian, not a romantic couple

I hc that he really likes singing. Not to a professional degree or anything, but he does it while he works and it serves as a calming vocal stim for him. His voice is definitely very soft and sweet, which doesn’t lend itself well to his preferred genre of music (my sweet sweet emo boy) but that doesn’t stop him from trying

Again, so many songs I could choose from, but I will go with Swing Life Away by Rise Against because he’s just my sweet guy, my love, my boy

And once more, every image of Shuichi is my favourite, but I very specifically love his Serious Face sprite

Okay, I went fictional characters with this because I just don't really get obsessed with RL people outside of like a 5 year period between 2005-2010 where I followed select actors around to other shows. Also, there's only three ladies who I can confirm fit both 'obsessed' and 'ever of all time', so I've trudged through my entire childhood for every fictional lady who's helped shape my personality to round out the list.

In Chronological Order (to me not by air date):

Margaret Houlihan (M*A*S*H) -- Oh MASH reruns on the Hallmark channel, my beloved 💚 Now, I'm primarily talking about the juicy middle seasons after Potter took over command and Loretta Swit was able to wrestle some better storylines for Margaret, but there's some gems in the early years too. I've been drawn back to MASH three times as an adult and each time I get sucked deeper and deeper into both the real life history of the Korean War and the fictional character of Margaret. Do I have a thousand and one headcanons for how she handles life after the war? Yes. Am I obsessed with whatever platonic/sexual relationship she's got going on with Hawkeye? Yes. Have I plotted out what her D&D character might look like? YEP! She's a paladin :P I also believe if you examined her character through a queer lens, you'd find a trans man rather than a queer woman, but your mileage may vary.

AndrAIa (ReBoot) -- Yeah, yeah, yeah it's a cartoon, but bb 11 year old me was absolutely OBSESSED with this show, and AndrAIa was a big part of that. Look at her little capital AI in her name! 😭 25 years before corporate greed ruined the acronym, that AI was adorable!! And very clever given that she was an NPC game sprite who decided to leave her game and live as a real sprite. Her whole existence and vibe was very formative for me. I love her.

Harley Davidson Cooper (Guiding Light) -- Yes, her full name is absolutely necessary, even if no one ever used it. So, I was SUUUCH a CBS soap girlie back around 2000-2002, and I've been very nostalgic for it in the last few years. As the World Turns was my primary soap, so I figured one of my regular blorbos like Rose or Katie or Romana would be the one I miss most. But then Harley's actress Beth Ehlers popped up during my Law & Order SVU watch and I LOST MY MIND!!!!! Her face and voice instantly filled my soul with joy! So Harley gets the trophy. Even if she didn't have any stand out storylines during that era (apart from her and Gus being Very Hot), she was always my favorite character from GL.

Piper Halliwell (Charmed, original flavor) -- Technically, I had Turtle Wexler from the book The Westing Game on this list instead because I didn't remember Piper until after I'd drafted all ten slots :S But listen! That's because health problems have made my memory shitty! It is not because Piper doesn't stand up to the test of time! Ugh, I remember the show never treated Piper like she was the fan favorite and I hadn't discovered online TV forums yet so I felt so alone in my love for her :( But being on lesbian millennial Tumblr makes 14 year old me feel SO validated, because Piper is the only Halliwell sister anyone ever talks about on my dash. 💜 Congrats everyone. We were right all along.

Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) -- Yeeeaaah.. we've hit the Big Three that I alluded to earlier. I was very, very gay for Lorelai (and Lauren Graham) in the latter half of my high school years, and I did not realize that until way later. She taught me how to be quicker with the comebacks and, more importantly, to marry someone who could cook instead of learning how to feed yourself. And I really took that to heart. My spouse is a fantastic cook! :) (Don't get scared for me guys! I do actually know how to cook three (3) entire meals now that I'm in my 30s :P lol)

Rose Tyler/Billie Piper (Doctor Who) -- I will list the actress here, because my love for Rose Tyler is probably split 50/50 between the character herself, and Billie Piper's charisma and hotness. She's gorgeous!!! 😍 That seemingly common question in the mid-2000s of 'Who would you kiss if you were gay?' always left me stumped until New Who aired in the states. Then, I was finally able to answer 'Billie Piper' and actually mean it. Because that's what you were supposed to do with that question, right? Take it seriously and not treat it like hyperbole? #totallystraightbehavior #swearsies Alas, it would take me two more girl crushes and interacting with genuine queer women in a femslash fandom before I recognized my feelings for what they were. But Rose was still a very significant step forward!

Myka Bering (Warehouse 13) -- MY GIRL!!! My Lady of all Ladies. I would die for her. I would kill for her. I would kneel and raise my sword and swear fealty to her. MYKA FUCKING BERING, EVERYONE! 👏👏👏👏 Watching her fall in love with Helena made me realize all my girl crushes were real crushes and that I was bi. Bless her. Bless Joanne Kelly. And bless the incomparable Bering and Wells fandom. *kisses everyone on the mouth, sloppy style*

Erin Gilbert (Ghostbusters 2016) -- Look, I know that I can never get away with pretending that Erin isn't my favorite ghostbuster, but I do usually think about her in the context of her relationships! Like 8 times out of 10, when I'm headcanoning, I'm thinking about her and Abby's relationship. And if I'm not, there's a not-so-small chance I'm thinking about her relationship with Patty instead. (RIP to Holtzy who I virtually never think about outside of the foursome. Her fanbase just ruined it for me :S) But um... yeah, Erin's my favorite. I even have Pokemon parties picked out for them all. And their daemons.

Eve (Lucifer) -- Okay so I know it hasn't even been a full high school (aka 4 years) since I met Eve, so I can't really say she's someone I'll stay obsessed with forever and ever and ever. You probably don't even believe I'm obsessed with her at all given the bulk of my Lucifer talk is about Lucifer/Chloe -- but that's just cause that's where the storyline is! Trust me, Eve is my favorite character, even if she was in the least amount of episodes (RIP me). When she pops up in the background of a Deckerstar fanvid, I'm instantly distracted and have to marathon every Maze/Eve vid in my collection. I decided to use a fandom name in the first time, like, ever, when creating my Lucifer-specific Twitter account and I made it Eve themed. She's my favorite, bestest girl who can do no wrong and -- YES! -- that does include accidentally-definitely-on-purpose starting a demon mutiny that led to newborn Charlie's kidnapping. She had never been dumped before okay? First woman to ever exist and she'd never been dumped. Did you handle your first break-up well? No! I didn't think so :P

Alex Cabot (Law & Order: SVU) -- I've only know Cabot for four months, but if anything happens to her, I'll kill everyone in this room and then myself -- OH WAIT! She already left me. 😭 I am in S17 now, which is like ten seasons past when she went into witness protection and barely ever came back, yet there's not an episode that goes by where I don't think about her. So, I say that counts as longevity and am sticking her on the list. This woman has Issues. Plural. Period. She makes me say shit like 'I want to dig into her brain with a fork' and it's actually an accurate metaphor for what I feel. I love her your honor... now who can I sue for emotional damages?

What's your total AO3 word count? 443,022 words, which is horrifying and likely to hit 500,000 by the end of this year. lord have mercy

What fandoms do you write for? i'm currently very happy in my tfc shaped hole and have been for the last while but i do have some wips floating around for the likes of teen wolf (long live cringe) and mdzs still!

Why/why not? in all honesty once i've written a fic it's out there in the world and i am absent from anything going forward of it. i dearly, dearly appreciate everyone who puts time into commenting because it truly is the thing i stick around fandom for, but i don't have the time or energy a lot of the time to reply effectively and to not just keep repeating thank you's!

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? considering it uses the 'Bad Ending' tag, it'll have to be a room full of knives! it is canon-compliant though, so is the angst really my fault?

What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i feel like most of my fics have a somewhat happy ending, if not just a simple open-ended one, but i might say sunbreak for this because the ending of it is very joyful and there isn't much else left to say to hide the happiness.

Do you get hate on any fics? not really! i did get the worlds most insane comment on NOSTOS a couple years ago that was kind of horrible to read but it was anger at a character and not my fic lmao.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? i'd never written it until this year because it was on my writing goals list for the year! i can't really say what kind because i've only written a couple of scenes so i'm not sure where they sit in the grand scheme of things but i have written some!

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written? not really! i am a big AU fan — the kandreil teen wolf au i wrote this year with the beloved and highly esteemed @dayurno is probably the craziest, but i have a kandrew 'gideon the ninth' au planned too! if we're talking actual crossovers, there was a hilarious in-joke au partially written in a group chat a couple of years ago that was a WOH and MDZS law firm au. xue yang owned jby's soul. wei wuxian had bitcoin. i have a customised t-shirt for it.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? yup! and it's the reason i put writing away for about four years when i was in high school because i was so demotivated to share my stuff.

Have you ever had a fic translated? i think there's two or three of my fics that i've given permission for russian translations! i don't think they've been finished though so it would be cool if that ever ends up happening!

Have you ever co-written a fic before? as stated earlier, i spent eight months in an echo-chamber with @dayurno in which we went into a mutual fugue state and came out with wet-eyed banshee kevin and his high school boyfriends. maybe one day we'll get to the twinyards sequel of it i do also have to shoutout @picturedframes who was half of the mastermind behind sunset, like survival, and has contributed an insane amount to other works like diachronic and all that looking down.

What's your all time favourite ship? don't ask me this,,,, it chops and changes from year to year! i think in favour of being nice to myself i'm going to just say percabeth — they're the OGs from day one and they still hold up in my heart

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? either my 'the old guard' wenzhou au, or the other installments of the nostos 'verse! i loved them dearly at the time and i do think they would be well worth writing still, but my interests have moved on fandom-wise slightly! maybe one day i'll revist them, but not any time soon i don't think.

What are your writing strengths? ohh. digging my teeth into a character, i think. i use fic as a way to kind of just write thesis' and loveletters and stories all at the same time, and i think i'm good at holding up a character and writing out what makes them tick! and maybe a weird one but fleshing out the wider world? i'm very proud of like, my background characters. describing people who take coffee orders and who are studying in the library too and who are one-line classmates.

What are your writing weaknesses? this time last year i would have said dialouge but i think i've gotten better at it this year! probably being too verbose. i think i have a tendency to get carried away with thoughts and descriptions and i think sometimes that means they lose their potency when i really need them! it's a goal for next year i think; learning how to pare back my writing and make it more effective.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? ahhhhhh aha ha ha aha . you're talking to the bitch who's current fic is all about kevin relearning gaeilge/irish so you bet there's a lot of dialogue in other languages in it! also diachronic and sunset, like survival both have a substantial amount of other languages: diachronic uses french, gaeilge, and japanese, while sls throws german into the mix!

First fandom you wrote for? the bible just kidding lmao though i did write stories when i was in catholic school with biblical characters. i think it was fairy tail!

Favourite fic you've written? noooooo don't make me answer this one. there's many different questions inside of that one question (what one i'm most proud of, what one i feel the most for, what one i had the most fun with), and i don't think there's one that works for them all. i think i'll say diachronic, maybe, for now. my first forway into the head of my beloved kevin day and certainly not the last.

Were you named after anyone? kind of yes on three counts? my birth name was chosen by my mum because it was the name of one of her school teacher's daughters and she really liked it. my irl preferred name is shared with a book character although i didn't choose it because of them. and my online name is the name my best friend has called me exclusively for years and is fairly obviously after spn castiel
