“I don’t know, would it be bad to name him after Zeke?” Which Mythra clearly meant to be rhetorical in a particular direction, but -

Rex scratched at his chin. “I mean, d’you want me to be honest with you?”

Mythra grabbed blindly at the bedside table, coming away with an empty baby’s bottle. She reeled back. Rex threw his hands up.

“He’s taught me a lot, love! C’mon, I’m not an idea guy, I’m the brawn-and-smiles guy!”

Mythra continued to glare, but she also continued to hold onto the bottle. Rex kept smiling and holding his hands in the air. Slowly, she lowered the bottle, looking back at the bundle in her other arm.

“So it’s either Adam, or we rip off one of Zeke’s names?”

“Seems so.” Rex dared to come up alongside the bed and look with her. “You got a preference?”

“Could be funny to see Zeke’s face.” Mythra’s face was doing a complicated thing - the face of ‘I wish I could hide behind Pyra right now’ with a smile slapped on top. Rex squeezed her shoulder.

“Yeah, he probably thought his other options sounded lame, huh? Ozzie von Genbu, bringer of boredom?”

Mythra snorted, and he soared inside. She tilted her head, her eyes flickering as she presumably mulled over the rest of his name.

“I’m thinking…Bruno.”

“Ah, the middle bit, that’s nice! I was still stuck on Ozychlyrus. Was gonna suggest Clyde.”

“Nope. Too late. You snooze, you lose. I’m attached, now. Bruno.” She said the last part soft and certain, like it was more for the baby’s sake than Rex’s. He melted, curling in close around them. It was easy to forget, for a moment, that he’d lined himself up for two more rounds of this within the month.

(I will answer this one for you, but it's the last time, I will not do so a third time; it honestly feels a bit too forward and kinda rude for you to PM me out of the blue, only to ask about an AU- it's usually a done thing to use the blog messaging system for that)

Anyway, as for Branch using the Strings, technically as long as they are part of his hair, he cannot?

He would need to pluck them all and put them in an instrument like the Pop Harp or the Rock Guitar- instruments specifically crafted to tune the Strings to a one genre only- and even then I headcanon that using the String is bit of a double-edged sword.

Barb didn't use them long enough to feel it, but using all the Strings to overwhelm with one genre of music comes at a cost; and that is one's Life Source and Talent.

I imagine this was one of the reasons why Pop Royal Ancestors worked to keep the not only the existence of the Strings hidden from their people, but also the details how it came that the rising Pop Empire was suddenly stopped out of sudden- after all, it's not like if they controlled everything, that just anyone would be able to get close to the Pop Emperor and steal the Strings from him

His greed simply caused him to stretch too far- until the usage of the String simply killed him. The following chaos was a perfect timing for the suddenly awakened other Tribes to snatch their String back and book it, never knowing what actually caused the Pop Emperor's death- only perhaps thinking he has been assassinated by a rebel faction

A narrative, while untrue, not contested by the Pop Trolls- especially the now new crowned Queen (Queen Poppy the First? XD), younger Sister to the late Emperor She deemed the knowledge of the power of the Strings too dangerous to know and ordered all mentions to be erased.

(Of course, there might still be some banned copies flying around- and secretly passed from Troll to Troll, under the guise of a 'Sad Book Club' -nudge-nudge-wink-wink- ;-D )

(Am I making Clay a bit of a rebel against the Crown? Why yes, yes I am)

But I digress XD

The Point is, Branch cannot use the String- they are giving him power passivelly as of now, boosting his talent, giving him the power of harmony, and make him immune towards any malicious effect of music (I'd imagine Chaz's Jazz does literaly nothing, much to Chaz's disbelief)

And even if he chose to pluck them out of his head and use them in an instrument- and instrument that would have to be custom made to contain all 7 of the strings- since he has no desire to rule over any particular Genre, I think it would be similar to the first Musical Harp, where all the Strings were equally powerful and helped all the Troll tribes to Harmonize- and perhaps inspire them in music creation

Kim’s Redemption : A Rant

I think one of the things that I tend to question and kinda struggle with at times being a KP enjoyer is the fandom’s general tendency to soften certain aspects of Kim’s personality and his actions as a way of redeeming him, either due to the influence of Jeff Satur’s media personality and/or when he’s compared to Vegas and Kinn.

And before I say anything else, this is not a jab towards anyone in particular, it’s just me ranting about my favorite character, so you can go on about your day if you don’t wanna read what I gotta say. 😆

I think part of my struggle comes from the fact that since Kim barely has any scenes in the show that lasts longer than 2-3 mins, I’m also somewhat constricted from the few assumptions I can make in how I interpret him, especially when I’m writing fic (which I am doing atm). Which in and of itself isn’t totally a bad thing, at least I don’t think so; if anything, I think that makes it a lot more fun as a challenge.

For example, if you were to ask me how do I think Porsche would react to finding out Kim had used and manipulated his little brother, I honestly couldn’t tell you. Kim and Chay’s storyline was so cut off from everything else in the beginning that ngl, it was a bit of a whiplash once their narrative finally began to intersect with the main plot, lol I can't really see Porsche getting angry, if nothing else due to his ignorance of Kimchay's situation (which also imo, isn't really a bad thing), but I also don't know if I can see him being lenient towards Kim, because he's also overprotective of Chay.

So in the end, I just choose not to think about it, and work within that framework instead~

But anyway, I digress!

Jeff's media personality and its influence on how Kim is interpreted as a character, that one is pretty much unavoidable, since the two men share the same face and body. XD Some can differentiate between the two much more than others, some tend to meld them as a sort of hybrid and use Kim as the container of a Jeff-esque fantasy, and all in all, that sort of thing is entirely dependent on preference and said fantasy, yknow? So it's just one of those things that I tend to scroll past or move on.

What truly gets me so befuddled though is when Kim is compared to Vegas and Kinn, and between the three of them, somehow Kim is taken to be the least problematic of the three, in terms of how they treated their romantic interest. And I'm not really sure how that conclusion came about, lol. In fact, I even remember reading a meta on here somewhere saying something along the lines of, compared to Vegas and Kinn's actions towards Pete and Porsche respectively, what Kim did to Chay was somewhat lenient and doesn't warrant that much groveling.

And I agree with that, at least in regards to the technical details, because OP was right. Kim never blackmailed Chay, nor assaulted or threatened him; in regards to physical intimacy, Kim never touched Chay in a way that was non-consensual.

But be that as it may, that way of thinking comes from the audience's POV, not Chay as a character.

And it really doesn't, right?

Chay doesn't know--or at the very least, we have no confirmation he's aware--the extent of what Porsche suffered through during the beginnings of his relationship with Kinn; he knows they're together, but I highly doubt Porsche told Chay he was pretty much sexually assaulted that first time. He REALLY doesn't know what's involved in VegasPete's relationship, much less their BDSM proclivities. Lol XD

In other words, Chay's actions and feelings post break-up with Kim (as well as the subsequent reconciliation) are and would be entirely based on his own experience, as they should, not based on the assumption that, when compared to Porsche and Pete's experiences with their respective Theerapanyakul, he got off lightly.

I think personally, something that often tends to be forgotten when Kim is made a lot more soft uWu babygirl than (imo) he really is is the fact that what Chay went through emotionally is, in and of itself, also a form of trauma. Sure, Chay was never physically hurt by Kim, but I don't think the emotional damage Kim dealt him is something that should be taken just for granted either.

There's a reason why this boy spiraled right after that devastating break up, and why he cried out the way he did. So how you interpret and imagine what Chay's next course of action would be if/when forgiving Kim is entirely up to you, including how he would respond and deal with the emotional trauma of that break-up. That scenario would come about based on your own interpretation of the show, your own preferences, and frankly, your own beliefs and life experience. If you think Chay is the type that needs some groveling/begging from Kim in order to heal, go for it, that's completely valid; if you think he can get over it easily enough, that's valid too.

It goes without saying, but just in case~

I stand by what I said before that although Kim has not physically harmed Chay in the way Kinn and Vegas has with Porsche and Pete, he's just as capable of doing that as his brother and cousin. And honestly, that's what makes Kim and the rest of the characters such an awesome bunch to me; a character doesn't have to be morally good in order to be a good character, yknow? Besides, I think that's what makes all three love stories strong enough to stand on their own: these Theerapanyakul men can love fiercely, but they can and have hurt and manipulated the people they love just as fiercely.

The physical and emotional wounds Porsche, Porchay, and Pete have suffered in varying degrees is incomparable, because by doing that in the first place, the characters' agency in turn is taken away.

And don't get me wrong, if you genuinely see Kim as a soft, uWu babygirl because that's how you HC him, go for it and more power to you! XD But if you HC him as being soft, uWu babygirl because he never physically assaulted Chay when you compare his actions to the shit Vegas and Kinn did, well...more power to you too, although I imagine this rant probably feels like a personal attack. Sorry about that~

But for my own interpretation (and limitation I admit, as well as it not being my preference in general; Kim can be soft for Chay and his family, but otherwise, there's a reason Korn doesn't trust him and in the books, is secretly made the true heir), I guess the reason I'm not inclined to see Kim as having a lot of the softer edges fanon!Kim has to the point that it's made part of his overall personality, is because, for me, it almost feels like I would be trivializing Chay's emotional trauma, just so they can quickly get together again and share in the fluff and puff, yknow? Almost like trying to resist the urge to think, "in order for Chay to be able to handle Kim, you gotta soften him up a little bit."

Because then I would be doing a disservice to Chay's character, who imo is more than capable of handling Kim's problematic tendencies. This boy had no problem blocking Kim's ass and pulling away from him, he can handle himself~

And just so we're clear, I'm not saying those fans who do see Kim as a soft, uWu boy with stunted emotions is doing just that, not at all. Just that for me personally, that's kinda the mental block in my noggin. XD Besides that, I'm just a sucker for angst, man.

But meh, at the end of the day, to each their own, yknow? XD That's what makes fandom so much fun, you can pick and choose what you want to engage with.

As an artist / fic writer, I'm just grateful I can feed myself the food I want to see~ Hehe!

If the Drac Fam got corrupted by Bendy's Ink:

Dracula: Bendy or Tom-like Boris.

I know there's a thing about Jewish characters and horns/Devil imagery, but personality and Aesthetic-wise Drac has ALOT in common with Bendy/The Ink Demon: Tall, thin, associated with darkness and the color black, wrongfully seen as nothing but dangerous murderous beast, a signature toothy smile, kind of a butt monkey, both having been persecuted by humans, both have a mischievious streak, vampires being thought of as soulless demons, try to act tougher and scarier than they are etc. (Plus, there are alot of Jewish coded characters here sorted as things without horns and goyish characters WITH horns.) However, Drac also has alot in common with Tom too: a loveable wolfy damaged grump who's suspicious of strangers. However, I DO have 3 other Borises.

Bonus: He also has some similarities to a more competent, good-leaning Joey Drew as well, who at least one point was thought to be the soul at the heart of Bendy/The Ink Demon.

Ericka: ALICE ANGEL. Specifically, Twisted Alice.

Ok, this one's probably one of the clearest of the lot. Not only does Ericka ALREADY have a strong Fleisher vibe, but she has the duality of angelic charm, friendliness, cheeriness and elegance with a feral murderous and mischievious gremlin side and somewhat unhinged dramaticism. She's unconventionally attractive, knows it, and is more than willing to use this to her advantage - and is something of a soft dom in the bargain who loves to toy with people's heads even if it's not malicious. She also has Allison Angel's athleticism, pragmaticism, and optimism and has a similar taste in love interests. XD She also, like both Alice's, never had parents and delt with abuse/neglect in some ways by their "creators."

Mavis: Alice Angel or Audrey

Mavis has a similar optimism and relative sanity to both Allison and Audrey, and seems to serve very similar roles for Drac that they did for Henry and Audrey: the hopeful innocent that serves as something of a moral compass to the more damaged morally grey Drac. She also has a similar nievite to Audrey and a similar mischievious streak and emotionality, but lacks Audrey's dryness and trauma. Like both Audrey and Allison, Mavis didn't grow up with a mother and was favored by her "father" and is oddly chill with weirdness. Not to mention: Glowing eyes, zipping around, and the ability to drain her enemies and oddly unsettling/secret badass power despite her friendly nature.

Johnny: BORIS

Loves food, a cheerful-yet-easily-scared good boi, oddly chill with weirdness, loyal as bleep, clashes with his opposite Drac but genuinely likes him as a friend/father-in-law, a surprisingly brave risk taker despite being the least powerful and scary of the group, loves dancing and plays an instrument, something of a slacker, possible Jewish coding... it's perfect.

Dennis: Also Boris.

Taking more after his father and nearly ending up humany, the shy quiet and sensitive yet adorably loveable Dennis strikes me as another Boris. Lile Buddy, both he and Johnny are also chronologically 2 of the youngest here and are both Jewish coded.

Abraham: Bendy, Alice, Dudley, or Bertrum

Dunno if this is a bit on the nose, but him ending up as something with horns would be hilariously appropriate. Bendy kinda comes from his horns and his status as Drac's rival and evil counterpart, Alice is because of his thought he was doing something good for humanity, Dudley for his mechanical aspects, sea association, and similarity in personality and motive to Wilson. And Bertrum...well, he is mostly head and machine XD

Vlad: BENDY

A surprisingly easy one, but with his mischievious/scary somewhat irresponsible nature and secret soft side, not to mention technical villain status for a bit there, I feel Bendy works pretty well for him.

Simon: Boris or Swollen Searcher

I mainly see Simon as a Boris, perhaps with something of a Brute Boris bent. He's a big strong guy and secretly quite dangerous, but most of the time he's a shy sweetheart. He's much like a tougher, more pragmatic and less sheltered version of Dennis. However, his large size also works well for Swollen Searchers.

Lucy: Bendy, Alice, or in @lovelylivelyv 's AU: Jack Nephalem

Being Ericka and Drac's daughter, Lucy has aspects of both Bendy and Alice. She's a mischievious chaos gremlin who takes pride in her monstrosity and power, but is also charming and elegant and generally both braver and not as ruthless as her parents and something of a rebel. Kind of similar in personality and concept to @lovelylivelyv 's chaotic good Bent Halos ship child oc Jack Nephalem - who in Original canon, was an unused character born from the ink machine and the soul of Wally Franks. In canon, Lucy would probably be closest to Bendy, but I like the idea of the mischievious Dhampirica being a Jack in the universe this is possible.

Let’s say in this scenario Shui and Yeva probably met via Redson dragging her along to his lessons with Arthur because uh yeah he is kinda his teacher-

And in that case congrats she is now part of the family and no rejecting this is not an option.

Of course a friend of redson is a friend of hers! But for Yeva specifically I can see Shui would probably mother hen after her a lot, I feel like her more quiet nature and lack of emotion remind her a lot of one of her own daughters.

And a bonus for if she would have known her in her younger years, while Shui was a lot less terrifying than she was in her celestial warrior years she was still not the most approachable person however when Yeva decided to become her problem she would probably become the unpaid babysitter because „I guess I won’t let you die from stupidity.“ meant affectionately of course XD

Shui: One of her favorite pastimes is researching marine biology and the underwater world in general, as an aquatic type demon it is pretty easy for her to just dive into a body of water and explore to her hearts content after all. On these trips she also looks for shiny knickknacks for her ever growing collection but besides that she also works out.

Arthur: Honestly if you were to just ask him then he would probably just answer "work." And to be fair almost blowing the roof of your house is a fun pass time but what he also likes doing is cooking which he is quite good at. Does adopting everything that breaths in your general direction also count as a hobby?-

Adrien: He's pretty into books but Adrien doesn't just like reading he also likes to write them himself. (definitely wrote a lot of fanfic in his teen years)

Klara: Oh she definitely is the type of kid that would do millions of activities and hobbies all the time and would leave nothing untouched, does everything from sports to researching physics for fun-

Katie: She likes to draw and dabbles in fashion design, really wants to learn how to actually make clothes, also a pretty big theater kid.

Jú: Dancing and singing were her main ones but she definitely doesn't do those a lot anymore, another one where the answer would just be "work." If asked. Volunteers at animal shelter's in her free time.

Băoshí: Also pretty big into working out but also likes to craft, everything from cute little bird houses to full on furniture if bro can make it himself then he won't buy it. He to has a collection of shiny things stashed somewhere and it's only growing. He does some gardening on the side.

Yúnlü: Her passion lies in music, she is on a mission to try and learn as many instruments as possible. Besides that I picture her to be really into video games, definitely gets way too competitive when playing Mario party.

Ming: I guess the closest thing he had to a hobby after his death was etching a line into his gravestone to keep track of the days, though eventually he couldn't even do that.

Baí: Sleeping, he doesn't need it anymore but it's a nice break from reality. Other than that he isn't exactly allowed to do anything that isn't serving or training.

Okay so first straight off the bat, the twins are not human. That’s canon and that’s been established. So in my eyes, that means they aren’t going to have the same kind of bodies.

I’m not going to go into their appearances in this post as that’s a completely different thing. I may draw them but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Anywho bodies! So. The twins have very specific functions to do with their bodies to make it easier for them to travel around space from universe to universe. Starting of with this - they do not have stomachs.

I imagine that since they are travelling around space a lot when they aren’t in a world, they don’t really have much to eat up there. So the food that they do eat when they are in a world actually gets absorbed into their bodies and converted into energy rather than just being digested. This means that they don’t need the bathroom, don’t gain or lose weight or anything like that.

When travelling space they can’t really take food since on average the food will probably disintegrate into a dust and undergo chemical changes in the vacuum. So, to be able to have the energy to travel for a long time, they have to eat a lot of food before leaving. Like tons. The amount that would make even Paimon nervous.

The both feel pretty sick afterwards but it works!

Another thing kinda cool about their bodies is that the twins are able to change certain aspects about their body.

An example of this is that they could technically change their physical genders if they really want to.

I imagine both of them are comfortable in their genders (Lumine a girl, Aether a guy) but they weren’t really born as such. These two were created from an explosion and a lot of things happening at the same time which just so correlated to them being made. They were both kind of one being that split into two. Basically, shooting stars in the vessel as humans.

Neither were raised on a gender or had any concept of that until they started travelling to other worlds, which is when they technically ‘chose’ what to be.

This can be physically changed. It would take a lot of their energy but if they had the will and want, they could do it.

This doesn’t really happen though as it takes way too much of their energy and they are both happy as they are.

This is kind of relating to the last one about being able to change things about their body

This is a bit of an odd one so bare with me. Kinda inappropriate but in the biology class inappropriate way.

Right, they have stuff like sperm, egg, normal stuff like that though like ✨yassified✨cause these mfs ain’t human. Maybe Aethers cum is glittery or something I don’t fucking know.

Whatever so the cool thing about them is they are able to literally turn their fertility on and off like a switch. Neither want kids. They are planning on travelling forever why would either want to settle down and start a family with someone they meet in one of the worlds. I’m gonna use Lumine as an example of this in the least graphic terms possible.

So as I’ve said, Lumines a sexual being. Nothing wrong with that. When she has sex, she doesn’t have to use any form of protection as she can just turn her fertility off pretty much. If she ever wanted a child she could pretty much just turn her eggs or whatever back on and then bam. It does take a few days for her body to adjust so she would have to do it a few days prior. This is the same for Aether.

This one’s just weird to be honest. I say as if the last three haven’t been just as weird.

The two are able to grown back their limbs like lizards can crow back their tails.

I don’t say that lightly. They can’t just go “oh haha I’m gonna cut off my arm and throw it at someone for a funny prank XD” and then immediately grow it back. No it’s an extremely long and painful process. Firstly, losing the limb would be just as painful as it would be for the normal person. Maybe slightly less as they both have incredibly high pain tolerances, but certainly not ideal. To make matters worse, the growing part would be even more painful and cost them a LOT of energy.

It would take a long ass time. It’s not just gonna grow back overnight. And even after it’s back they are going to struggle to move it or do anything with it for a while afterwards so it will just be limp next to them for a while. They will basically have to relearn movements in that limb.

Say for example, Aethers right leg is cut off, poor guy. Once it grows back, if he had any scars or tattoos or anything on it previously it would no longer be there. It will be completely plain. A normal leg.

A rule for this is the brain must still be fully functioning with the rest of the body for this to work. You can’t just cut off one of their heads and expect the body to start growing again. If you cut off the head, they die. Simple.

One thing that was real fun in Tressa romancing Doc, she was able to handwave it away as Not An Attachment in the beginning. It wasn't a Relationship, it was Just Sex bc he's not entirely hard on the eyes and calls her things like beautiful and gorgeous and is v clearly not interested in commitment.

So both of them are happy with this arrangement and they don't talk about defining it or anything, it's Just For Fun and neither one of them realize they're maybe catching feelings. Tressa doesn't even use him as her companion most of the time, she lets him stay on the ship and takes Kira or T7, so there's not any obvious signs of a developing connection. Purely physical relationship, "we can stop at any time"(or can you?) etc etc.

And then, one of the conversations after Hoth, Doc's talking about reading medical journals, there's an opportunity for sex(which Tressa took), but THEN he just very casually drops this

and Tressa just reflexively says Sure and it's not until halfway through eating(she's sideways on the bench with his shoulder digging into her spine) that she realizes this is a very Couple-y Thing to do. The casual intimacy of snacking together is what does her in. xD She has this moment of "oh, shit. does this mean we're a couple?! Do I actually LIKE HIM? Him, DOC, of all people, do I actually like him?!" and it hits her she, uh, can't honestly say no.

Cue an internal mini-crisis bc Jedi aren't supposed to form attachments and REALLY, HIM?!(she can hear that part of her in Kira's voice xD) She doesn't wanna let on that anything's wrong changed, so she keeps up the flirty banter and everything and just wrestles with this privately.

And then she notices the shift in his end of the banter, less sleazy "hit on all the girls" more "hey, you're amazing and gorgeous and so am I don't we make a great team?" and internally goes UHOH but externally says NOTHING bc if things are different for her and things are different for him then this might be about to become a Problem.

And it's kinda scary that the thought doesn't bother her like it should.

AND THEN she gets an I Love You and technically a marriage proposal out of him in the same conversation and listens to her instincts and says yes(even if the part of her that sounds like Kira is questioning her sanity). She can make this work. She can be in love(married!) without getting Too Attached and he's changed and she find the ego a bit endearing tbh and so then this happened last night

(she plans to tease him for a good long while about hiding the droid for WEEKS, how long have you been planning this, handsome?!?!? Awfully confident I'd say yes)

Yes! So I’ve been toying around with Peking/Beijing Opera and I think it was possibly Jia’s gender awakening. Specifically dan characters. Dan are female roles + have a couple specific subsets but historically were played by men! Jia, when she was younger, had the chance to watch a performance of White Snake Legend and was absolutely enamored with the idea of playing Bai Suzhen (the White Snake). Her singing was gorgeous, her dancing was beautiful, and her movements were so elegant that for the first time Jia desperately wished he could just be her. 

For a period afterwards, Jia was insistent on joining a troupe (with hopes of playing exclusively dan characters) but he honest to goodness hated all the acrobatic she’d have to learn. And it’s one of the first things a performer needs to learn before any singing or dancing. Then puberty kicked in and her voice got too deep for the roles she wanted to play so…

All of them do to various extents! Jia + Fiona go all out, then Rams, and Rin does the least of all. 

Jia + Fiona are going to parades, already have an itinerary that has them at at least one event a day, and special outfits for the month. Expect seeing them out and about everywhere. 

Rams helped organize events really! So you might not see cos a lot of places + be assured co is doing something co loves and celebrating in co’s own special way! 

Rin attends the parades + expect a lot of merch. If there’s any month she spends the most money? It’s pride month 🌈

(shoutout to @saibug1022 for accidentally reminding me I can, in fact, play around with canon characters too xD) Okay, I’ve been rotating Atlas in my head so, here we go!

Atlas is both genderspace + spacegender. I’ve been using cosmo/galaxy pronouns for cosmos for a while now (<- by that I mean the like, three? tops times I’ve talked about galaxy). Spacegender, according to the LGBTQIA+ Wiki entry, is a gender feeling that is void-like and never ending while still feeling full + empty at the same time! Genderspace is a xenogender influenced/related to space <- very very easy to mix the two up, i know 😔. Though, it’s technically two genders, Atlas doesn’t see it like that? They’re way too tied up together in a way that feels like one concrete gender. 

In basic terms: galaxy’s gender is the vastness of space itself with all the cosmos and stars and planetary bodies –all of it. That’s comos.

It’s a little maverine (meaning: outside masculinity, femininity, neutrality, man, woman, and anything in between while still being heavily gendered). I genuinely think it’s hilarious that Rams is agender and Atlas has a loud, atypical gender (<- this is also the reason I’ve been trying out new names for cosmos which is going, uh, not well). Wanna know the numero uno problem that comes with it??

Atlas has done this to me. I cannot know peace anymore. Do you want to know how much I’ve searched around for something that really fits Atlas? Because it’s been so long. It’s no secret that I do a fair amount of clothing stuff for my ocs. And I’ve really wanted to do one for Atlas. 

But I can’t

Cuz nothing WORKS. After searching weeks, i have landed on the shiny material (if you know the name please tell me) prominently featured in retrofuturism and that’s it. <- I’ve started going through older, kinda dead styles and deciding on frankensteining Atlas’ style from the corpse of other styles. (I am enjoying myself, let me be clear). 

I don’t. I don’t know how I got here but the only way out is through and I will find Atlas cool and nice clothes. I wILL.

I'm actually going to start making more of an effort to keep some of the big spoilery things under the cut of my liveblog posts because we're getting to the point where some of the Big Reveals and Twists are happening and I don't want to ruin that for anyone who happens to just wander by. (Obviously also please feel free to block "#bjk plays baldur's gate 3" which this stuff is always tagged as. :) )

So anyway yeah uh. Second half of this fight against uh. Large Boy. is decidedly not what I expected. XD

Unsurprisingly (I guess) this isn't technically Myrkul himself, but an "Apostle of Myrkul", a big floaty bone boy with a scythe and "Myrkul's Presence":

This is more than a little scary because Bone Chill prevents healing from any source, and Karlach (and Shadowheart's spiritual weapon, less significantly) are right in the thick of it as the fight starts.

On the bright side, it has a lower AC than Thorm did. XD According to its stats it is considered only a medium size creature, also, which seems strange given that he is, shall we say, imposing.

I actually ended up resetting the whole fight back to the beginning of the part with Ketheric, and focusing a little on taking out more of the adds before Myrkul even came out. That actually went pretty well (as Ketheric doesn't try to leave the platform, so a lot of his really devastating attacks waited until we were ready to deal with him). Aylin, however, did not do so hot; for as much of a badass as she seems in cutscenes, she's kinda struggling and spent most of the fight in downstate.

On the bright side she seems to be able to revive herself with one hit point when she goes down, which is convenient and saved me from spending rez actions on her. Counterpoint to this is that it takes her whole action, so she kept getting up, shouting things like "STAND AND FIGHT!" and then doing nothing else before getting downed again.

Pls don't tell Selune I said her daughter was weaksauce on the battlefield. o.o;

One thing that was interesting was that at one point, the apostle called out:

And it was definitely Ketheric's voice. So I suppose this is supposed to be his ascension at Myrkul's hands in return for his service.

Hector's bludgeoning damage and Karlach's reckless attacks were the big MVPs on this fight; Wyll was mostly cleanup duty on all the necromites and Shadowheart was kept busy trying to keep everyone from falling over. As I mentioned before, I'm really starting to discover the importance of support buffs in this game; in the past I've taken a very damage-heavy approach (this is also my strategy in Pokemon XD ) and it is starting to be considerably less effective.

Very long process of a fight (and then I had to redo a chunk of it because Karlach rather than Hector got the spotlight for the cutscene >:| ). But we got there in the end!

KBHs Random Rant: Spectrobes

Just remembered I do not have a post about one of my favorite childhood game series which is Spectrobes.

It never took off as an actual monster-catching game since its last release was in 2011, however, we do have three strong entries.

Most people probably have never heard of this game but trust me if you're one of those people you were missing out.

I cannot tell you what my fascination was with this game but I just found the gameplay so refreshing considering Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Ranger were the only DS games I really played before and this game made me realize there were other interesting games out there.

The basic plot:

So what is this game about? Well, you're playing a young officer named Rallen who is kind of working for a galactical security service (NPP - Nanairo Planet Patrol) in the Nanairo planet system. His partner is a woman called Jeena who usually handles the technical stuff. One day they find an unidentifiable escape pod on one of the planets in their solar system. In it was an old man and a device that appeared to contain monsters they had never seen before. As Rallen tries to understand what he found he gets attacked by a mystical dark force of enemies which he later finds out to be "Krawl". A race of planet-eating creatures that go from solar system to solar system and systematically wipe them out. The only thing that can fight them: Spectrobes. A race of ancient creatures that have the sole purpose of fighting the Krawl since normal weapons don't work on them.

So Rallen and Jeena go on a journey to learn more about Spectrobes which can be awakened from fossils to defend their galaxy.

I know I know it's nothing crazy but the gameplay mechanics are so unique, from digging up fossils and minerals that Spectrobes need to eat to get stronger to the battle system...

There is way too much to talk about but damn these games left an impression on me that can't be replaced.

AND THE DESIGNS ARE CRAZY.

The battle system works like a real-time action RPG where you basically need to mash the right buttons at the right time. They kinda revamped this system a little bit from game to game but the core gameplay stayed the same.

Krawl on the other hand mostly looks like blobs of dark matter xD

As I have never finished the third game (I never had a Wii okay?) the second game Beyond The Portals was definitely much better than the first. It gave the antagonists new characters that were actual characters and not just random black blobs xD

I don't really wanna go into more details but feel free to check out these games, they are really fun!

Oh did I mention I love the characters? Rallen is like a really good fighter and has good instincts but sucks at basically anything that involves technology. Jeena is the one who tends to lecture him when he touches anything that would be better left in her hands xD Then there is the old man Aldous who has an interesting backstory. He is the one they found in that escape pod. The only survivor from the Giorna system that the Krawl already devoured. He takes the place of the mentor role and teaches Rallen anything he knows about Spectrobes and Krawl.

Oh and as the game progresses it gets crazier when you learn how to summon Ultimate Form Spectrobes...

Ah well, I could go on but I think that's enough...

Okay now from the POV of STANNING CHARACTERS… (kfp4 spoilers)

So first off. My condolences to Tigress fans + people who are big fans of the Furious Five. And I mean – the Furious Five are were (?! 😭) core cast members, they’re great and fun characters, so I can absolutely understand the outrage of them just not being there AT ALL. In fact… idk their absence is weird in that it does feel less like kung fu panda without them. I take the view that what Matters is the movie being good, so if you have a movie that’s good, you can get away with certain characters* not being there if they wouldn’t serve an otherwise good plot. You can’t really say that’s the case with this movie though, because its pacing etc had much to be desired. So… yeah. You kicked them out but then the movie still wasn’t even good?? 😭And they didn’t even get a little scene they got nothing!! 😭No speaking scene I mean!

*Certain characters when I’m not completely obsessed with them (LOL). Because I, like anyone, am BIASED, my point here is that’s the “objective” take, but subjectively it absolutely sucks when your personal fave isn’t there so I really do sympathise. If shifu wasn’t in the fourth movie at all, I, too, would be extremely upset and furious. So fans of the Five have every right to be personally unhappy with their absence. For example if Shifu was absent from a Good kfp movie because he wouldn’t contribute to the Good plot, “objectively” that makes sense from a writing pov. Subjectively, I would still be personally unhappy with it.

ANYWAY. So now for analysis/discussion from a more character-focused pov/being biased in terms of my focus!

I mean, Shifu’s my fave, put him onscreen and don’t completely mess it up and there’s a good chance I’m just happy to see him again. And I was pleased to see him again. Ahah… What can I say? I’m a shifu fan… XD

Anyway. He’s SO not having a fun time dhsdjhsdsd I’m. god. Still getting my thoughts together about this. I have sorrrrt of mixed feelings/am of two worlds.

I did really enjoy his scenes. He’s actually kind of a mess honestly omggg. It kinda took me by surprise and I was actually very amused. I can’t help it he’s why I’m here LOL.

So like yes on the one hand I absolutely did accept and enjoy his scenes. On the other hand I was a bit surprised because… Well. Movies 1-3 did seem to have him on a clear trajectory of getting better and becoming more chill. He’s very Not Chill in this. You could make an argument that the whole “Oogway choosing Po as his spiritual successor” is a/the major issue that’s set back his progress in this movie, is why he’s clearly Not Fine (however much he might claim otherwise ckjdjkdsjk), etc. Because he only gets hit with that knowledge/information at the end of movie 3. The whole fact that he’s been kind of “overlooked” by Oogway (or at least, kind of skipped over technically…) and is now technically “surpassed” by Po, etc etc.

However, the above is all Watsonian analysis. From a Doylist point of view, I doooo think he has been Flanderised a bit. Feels like he’s just kind of been stuck/shoved into the box/role of grumpy “least-zen zen master” without much room to move about. It does feel like he had a lot more room/leeway before with his character/characterisation than he seems to have now…? And idk how to feel about it. Because like… I still really enjoyed his scenes in this movie, I loved it. So I don’t actually have any personal issues/complaints with it, I guess I do just feel like it can be “overdone”, if he really is thoroughly boxed-in like this. If his character has been simplified down/exaggerated… There are potential concerns with that but like, again. I loved him in this movie.

I mean I guess it just comes down to some mixed feelings on my end. Because I was getting this sense of “okay this kind of seems like… a bit overdone on the characterisation. But at the same time… I still love this characterisation” dhsdhjas? Hmmm. Still mulling over it. But I had fun! On an analytical level, I recognised that this movie had flaws, and that Shifu’s characterisation can be symptomatic of an overall downgrading of writing quality/handling of the characters in general. On the level of Being A Fan, I am a little baby being mesmerised by car keys being jangled in front of me.

It's also just kind of Funny to learn just how badly he’s doing. I thought he was Fine I really overestimated how well-adjusted he was at this point sdhsajksdakjsad god I. Mixed thoughts but I truly did love his scenes for the most part. Oughhh.

The fact that he’s now officially confirmed/clarified In Canon that he’s a red panda is hilarious. It took them four movies to do it. It’s been MANY years. But people having no clue what kind of animal he is over and over again, piggybacking off that… Man I loved it.

Hhhhhh yeah. Gonna keep mulling it over.

& I did feel catered to as a Shifu fan, by virtue of the fact that He Was There (I am the baby looking at the jangling car keys). So like, that would have affected my overall experience of the movie As A Whole in ways too! Because you can’t completely separate subjective from "objective". The movie itself could be lackluster but I could still be like “yesss Shifu” if I enjoy his individual scenes, etc. So tbh I had a great time, if only for that. I wanted to see him again and I did, LOL.

And like idk, if I fine-tooth-comb comparison his characterisation in previous installments vs this one, maybe I will come up with discrepancies or whatnot, and I guess one of my concerns is like, even if I was totally fine with how he was written in this movie, it raises concerns about how he might be portrayed in any future media, etc, so I’m just kinda wary? Idk. But tbh I had fun. That’s what matters.

Ok so.. Still no Legally Blonde professor unfortunately XD buuuut we both love dragons, I've been obsessing over the Dragon AU, and you are having impure thoughts about Dragon!Greasy... :)

(These could technically apply to all dragons, but I'm focusing on the Draon Patrol XD)

Ok, even if some of their equipment is smaller compared to their body, I imagine it's still probably gonna be a struggle to stick it in a human without hurting them. They have to be very careful and take precautions. That's why all the dragon boys will go down on you before the main event. Everytime. It's to stretch your hole out to make it easier on you. And they like it- especially Greasy. And they have long serpent tongues that can reach pretty deep~

Wings are probably gonna take play when you guys fuck. At least for Psycho, Greasy, and Wheezy. Wheezy can wrap his wings around you guys to bring you closer and give you a sense of privacy. Greasy and Psycho have their wing claws that they can use on you however necessary. Especially for Psycho; if he's got the long lithe lizard body, his wings can reach down there better and grip onto you while his other claws dig into the ground. Greasy meanwhile, knows how to put both sets of claws to good use on you ;)

I promise you that no matter who you get with, you will be manhandled. Even if you're with Wheezy or Stupid, the more gentle ones. The sheer size difference alone kinda makes it hard for you not to be XD I think with Wheezy in particular especially; if his huge wing size implicates his dick size, then there's no way it can all fit in. So he has to take extra control of you to make sure you don't get accidently split in half. Or with Greasy are Smartass, they like putting you in positions they want you in themselves.

Heats. It's my headcannon that dragons go into a heat 2-4 weeks annually, depending on the species. You thought Greasy was bad the rest of the year? Honey you ain't seen nothing yet. During this time, you might as well go nude the whole time and stay in the nest. You ain't going anywhere anytime soon, no matter which dragon or how many you're with.

Different positions they have. Cowgirl is gonna be one of the more common positions probably so you don't get accidentally crushed, but they do have their preferences; Wheezy likes this position, both for the veiw and so you're more comfortable. Stupid doesn't care, he's happy to get some. Smartass enjoys the fact that he's actually bigger than someone, so he likes positions that emphasize this. Psycho is a feral beast who probably goes for more animalistic positions, so you'll be beneath him (he'll bend his head down upside down so he can watch you and keep eye contact). Greasy likes positions like the seashell, or any others with your legs up- which I promise you, he's got a hold of in some way.

       ahhhhh anon i ABSOLUTELY WILL elaborate on my Jack is a disney princess agenda, i adore you so much for asking as it gives me the perfect excuse to wax lyrical about this whole topic for a bit. because admittedly disney princess Jack is a sort of crack type thing, if we're being technical he's nothing like a disney princess — however i feel like there is a genuine argument to be made that he is disney princess coded, at least within his own narrative. you are right, he gives off those vibes. ( and we're not the only ones who think this — tumblr will not let me hyperlink the video but https://www.tiktok.com/@some.emmagination.huh/video/6961180862117367045 — the fact that Jack is so often seen with or around the princesses in the disney parks says a lot i think lmao ).

       it's possibly because he's assuredly not your classic white knight disney prince, he's not "bad" enough in own his narrative to be villain-coded, and his effeminate characteristics ( the famous story about disney execs thinking that JD was playing Jack as gay in the first film and absolutely freaking out about it ) play into that whole idea. I also think it's always fun to take a character like Jack, who belongs in a hyper masculine environment but consistently challenges those stereotypes, and consider him occasionally in terms of the feminine. Jack being a trickster archetype also helps with this; gender expression is inherently very fluid to him. plus potc plays with this too — Elizabeth is made the Pirate King, after all.

       but he does also fit some classic disney princess tropes! defining a disney princess is kinda tricky now because over the past twenty years or so that definition has (quite rightly) diversified from the more traditional princesses of older disney movies, but i wanna highlight some of the fun ways in which Jack fits into that vague category.

       he talks to animals! maybe not uhhhh... in the nice way that princesses generally do lmao, but he has his god-tier rivalry with Jack the monkey, openly admits that he'll have Cotton's parrot on board the Black Pearl in AWE because "at least I'll have someone to talk to," and in TPOF starts telling his new horse Caesar sea stories because he gets bored waiting for Ayisha. as a child, I am sure he also had very animated conversations with Tim the dog, too. he also sings, canonically. Elizabeth teaches him the song from the ride in CotBP and Jack continues to sing or hum that on two more occasions in the trilogy. he descends from almost literal pirate royalty, effectively already making him a princess. Jack might be the black sheep of the family but he comes from a familial line of very rich, very influential pirates within the Brethren Court. and calling him a prince just feels wrong, so princess it is. also if he gets together with Elizabeth post-AWE he "marries" into royalty and becomes the queen of the Brethren Court, true facts.

       another is that he has the most fairytale esque, romantic dynamic in the entire franchise with the Black Pearl. I've said it again and again, but if Jack's ship were a human and Jack still talked about her the way he does, he'd be the most romantic bastard in the fucking movies lmao. in TPOF, it was literally love at first sight, Jack stared at her on the dock when he first saw her ( and she didn't look her best, she was a ship that had been neglected for a while and Jack spent weeks sprucing her up and getting her shipshape ) and completely fell head over heels. he gets an entire paragraph in that novel about what it is to finally know what love is after hearing sailors talk about it for so long. he dies for her, gives up his immortal soul for her.... Jack is motivated by love in the trilogy ( no matter how difficult, or twisted, or toxic that love becomes ), I won't accept any arguments.

       Jack is surrounded by loveable sidekick type characters. potc is a great franchise for this anyway just in general, but Jack's crew fit a lot of those archetypes that you find in many disney princess movies. from the mice in Cinderella, to Scuttle/Sebastian/Flounder in the Little Mermaid, to the furniture/servants in Beauty and the Beast, there's a lot of overlap — and while you can also say that Jack, being a side character, also fits that role, as he becomes subject to main character syndrome in the franchise, he gradually becomes more and more at the centre of it instead of being with them on the sidelines. disney princesses, particularly from the older movies, are also frequently in need of rescue, and rescuing Jack from the Locker is the major plot point of the first hour of AWE. he might mockingly call Elizabeth the damsel to Will, but he is in fact the damsel put in distress in that movie.

       then there are the somewhat more angsty ones. disney is renowned for its absent mothers, particularly within its fairytales, and Jack is no different. I may have my well-developed headcanons about Jack's mother but in terms of the strict canon, we know nothing about her ( beside the shrunken head ) and that is on purpose, considering that the house of mouse would not let anyone, including the author of TPOF, write about Jack's mother or even hint as to her existence. Jack is also subject to the controlling influence of his single parental figure, Teague, in his early life, which is a classic plight disney princesses find themselves in, whether the dynamic is outright abusive like Jack and Teague's is, or less so. Jack — at least earlier in his life, less so in the trilogy itself — is easily manipulated by the "villains." the plot of TPOF hinges on Jack being manipulated and betrayed by Christophe, and then the plot of CotBP hinges on Jack being betrayed by Barbossa during the mutiny on the Black Pearl ten years prior.

       lastly and, a bit of an odd one maybe, but something I want to include, is that Jack is often coveted by others. it's most obvious in Jack's dynamic with Beckett which, whether you read into it sexually or not on Beckett's side, I personally think it's entirely up for interpretation, is very driven by Beckett's desire to possess Jack. he wants to control him and use him in the same way that he uses all material things, and is pushed to very extreme lengths when Jack resists that control and tries to assert his autonomy. I think Jack being such a free spirit, as well as the fact that he's a pretty boy and is unapologetically sexual ( the second not being a disney princess trait lmao ) he invites that kind of attitude from other people. he invites people to try to challenge that aspect of his character and put him in a box, or control him, or break him.

- I have fics posted for harry potter, dungeons and daddies, and irondad. my current wips are for hp, irondad, and i have one atla wip that may never see the light of day based on how fast progress on it is (like… 500 words a year? if that? it’s bad)

-Phoenixes are Pests Harry Potter, this one has a comic drawn by @minryll! and the entire idea for it came from her too, 1,541 words

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do my absolute best to!!! The main reason I write fanfic is because I love the community around it! But sometimes I have to choose between responding to comments or working on the fic they commented on and I get the feeling that people would prefer that I write the fic rather than respond to their comments XD

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’m not much of one for angsty endings, I love angsty beginnings/middles, but I like to end on hope. So that being said, I do have an incredibly angsty ending that I might write for worth living for i might also go the sappy happy ending i originally had in mind. i might do both. who knows.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

since I already answered the previous one with a fic that doesn’t have an actual ending, i’ll avoid saying how like home for this one since that technically does not have an ending. instead, i’ll say This Is Our Salvation a real world-ish drarry AU that’s kinda weird but is the second fic that came to mind and not enough people have read it to be able to contradict me so yeehaw baby

8. Do you get hate on fics?

much less now that I moderate comments on how like home! but yeah I do still sometimes get it, and it’s a bummer

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

not often, but like I love the community around fanfic, and people are weird about commenting on and interacting with explicit fics so it’s just not what I gravitate towards with my extremely limited writing time these days

gonna combine these previous two into one because i once had someone use google translate to translate my fic into spanish and then posted it to wattpad (all without notifying me, as i request in my permissions statement on ao3) and what’s hilarious is spanish is the one language i’d be able to tell that it’s google translated rather than earnestly translated. i’ve had other people request to translate hlh to other languages, i gave them the go ahead, but as far as i can tell, nothing ever came of that

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

a couple times! the longest fic I co-wrote is no longer on my ao3 for various reasons, but I also worked with minryll on the aforementioned phoenixes are pests and @yes-i-am-happyaspie have a fic we’re co-writing that i SWEAR i will get back to!!!

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

i don’t like… go that hard for romantic ships.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i will finish all my wips i swear to god. i will be eighty fucking years old chipping away at these bitches if i must, but they WILL be finished.

16. What are your writing strengths?

introspection baby! unfortunately that means my characters are probably way more emotionally intelligent than they should be based on canon but such is life

summarizing. there’s a reason hlh spans like. two weeks of time. that’s because i hate summarizing when i could spell out everything that happens. and i know it’s a problem and i’m working on it!!! but like not as hard as i should because it’s hardddddd 😭

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I haven’t really run into this issue, but hypothetically I’d need to find a confident speaker of the language to give my dialogue a pass before I’d be willing to publish it
