I’ve been looking forward to my work Christmas party for two months, and the party is tomorrow. I prepared little goody bags and spent a lot of money on them. I made extra because my Boss’ family was going to be there too and I didn’t want anyone to feel left out.

I feel horrendous and full of catholic guilt. And when I conjure up images of being snatched in an unmarked van, my hands bound behind my back painfully, and someone grabbing a fist full of my hair to rip my head back, exposing my neck to demonstrate how helpless I am, I can't tell if this is a manifestation of that feeling or me trying to absolve myself of it.

People need to stop blaming 'parasocial relationships' when it's revealed to the public that a famous person has done something controversial (or even a crime) and the public is upset. 'I can't believe xxx did that!' doesn't always mean that the person who said it has a parasocial relationship with xxx. Usually it's just our faith in humanity, we want to believe that everyone has some basic human decency (especially someone we might admire) and it's only natural to be disappointed when we learn they're a bad person.

I’ve already said it, I’ll say it again, Mal du Pays is such a visceral and clever word to describe Siffrin’s Sadness. When I first saw it in game it genuinely made me pause like. Yes, it translates to homesickness. But it has the literal word for country in it. “Country sickness”. For a guy whose core problem is that his childhood, his culture, his country is missing. One could argue it’s a twisted pun. I’m obsessed with it.
