I like to think that Gorou would meet his bunny darling while out on patrol. Of course, Watatsumi Island is peaceful now, but there's still some bandits and the like lurking about. When he sees them shivering in a cage, knees tucked to their chest and crying, it does something to him that he doesn't understand himself. You just look so...delicious.

You, seeing this dog towering over you with this crazed look in his eyes, makes you thankful that there's a cage separating the two of you. Even when he "kindly" asks if you know where the key is, you adamantly shake your head no. It's obvious he wants to eat you! He's even drooling! Staying in the cage is definitely safer than trusting this deranged predator looking as if he's finally found the prey of his dreams.

Gorou is strong anyway. He doesn't need something like a key to free you. It only helps in scaring you more when he rips the cage open with a smile on his face. Having you clinging onto the bars was a bit of a problem, though. Gorou just wants to help you out! Usually, bunny hybrids are grateful creatures from what he's heard, but it seems like you're the opposite of that. And stubborn to boot. Don't worry. He offers coming with him the easy way or the hard way.

The easy way is a much better option, as the other would be leaving you out here alone, cage open, for anyone to just kidnap. Of course, he'd warn the soldiers to keep an eye out for you. "They got injured because of my carelessness, so I want to make it up to them!" People would think a bandit or a monster got to you while he was distracted. There's no way someone as nice and dependable as Gorou would harm such an innocent creature like you!

Unfortunately, people forget that Gorou is a dog hybrid. And dogs are technically domesticated wolves no matter how you see them. If another hybrid like Sucrose (whatever animal she may be) were to witness this, she'd immediately find you herself and bring you back to the safety of her hometown. Well, it probably wouldn't be safe, but it's better than the possibility of being eaten, right? Too bad Albedo only visited Inazuma with Klee, and the two of them stayed on Narukami Island.

Thinking on it more, though, he feels like a run will do him some good. "You could always head back to where you came from. There's boats on the lower part of the island, I could take you there!" No thanks. Even with your limited vocabulary, your instincts were screaming at you to get away. To Gorou, it was a relief that you took the bait. Watching your little cotton tail bob behind you as you tried to escape was adorable. You probably thought you could get away from him and go back to your homeland, but what are the chances you even knew how to use a boat?

It didn't take long for him to find you, and even less time to pin you onto the sand below. You could cry out all you want, but nobody would be able to help you. "Don't cry... I'll make sure it won't hurt too badly~" Confused and scared, the thought of another hybrid, a predator to your kind, would even attempt to mate with you was worse than being eaten by one. And escaping was impossible. He was just so big and you so little! That doesn't stop Gorou. And despite what he promised, it hurt a lot because your body wasn't built to handle someone of his nature.

He did clean you up as best as he could, but seeing his love escape you so easily almost made him rearing to go again if you hadn't passed out from exhaustion. Poor thing, you must be so tired after allowing him to pour out all of his love into you. Don't worry, he doesn't mind carrying you to his home. Ah, but he should probably lock you up so you won't escape...

Maybe he'll tire you out with a couple more rounds in the morning, too. Just to be safe.

Tighnari:

I think Tighnari wouldn't necessarily succumb to his instincts, but he's tempted to. How could he not? Seeing such a cute bunny make themselves at home in his territory, eating the vegetables and herbs that he grew,

It's like you thought that because he was chummy with the humans, he wouldn't possibly think of harming you.

And that's exactly what you thought. That fennec fox hybrid seems to eat plants just like you, so he must've been dropped as a child or raised by herbivores. If it were the latter, then that's great! Herbivores usually don't mind sharing food, so you made a nice little burrow right next to Tighnari's field. It was far away from the other humans, and there was a water source nearby, too, so it was absolutely perfect! Any hybrid would kill to be in your place. Having such a convenient food supply and water next to your den.

However, Tighnari was considering hunting you down because you were prey in his territory. Ah, he shouldn't succumb to his instincts. He should be the bigger person and try to scare you off. He grows dangerous things, too, and he would not like you eating (ruining) his research.

But the cute floppy ears... how would it feel between his teeth? How soft is your little tail? How delicious would you taste if he took a bite out of you? Just a little nibble. It won't hurt. Probably.

You, on the other hand, are starting to feel a bit nervous about your housing arrangement. Your neighbor seems to be staring at you from afar and breathing heavily. Sometimes, he looks at you with a dazed expression, and you can see the saliva creep from his mouth. It's impossible, you think. You've seen him eat mushrooms! On several occasions! It gets creepy when he looks in your den while you're out getting water. You hide from him, but he doesn't make an effort to even chase you. He smells you nearby, but he can smell something even sweeter in your home.

He knows you're going into heat soon.

It doesn't matter what you have between the legs, to Tighnari, you're something meant to be eaten. You're at the bottom of the food chain with the other small and weak animals. If he wanted to mate with you, you'd be taking his knot. Would you give birth to pups or kits? Would some be a mixture? Or maybe there's a possibility of a fennec being an herbivore or a bunny being a carnivore? The researcher part of him wants to know so bad...

But it depends if you could give birth at all. It'd be a shame if you didn't, but if you take his knot nicely, he may reconsider eating you.

hi mao! ok so… i’m afraid i’m still too horny and in love with this fic. what if i just say that i don’t know what else i can say about your writing — speechless because i’m in awe. (in ave—)

i honestly have never read omegaverse fic before, knowing only the basics, mostly from memes lol so it was really interesting to get in detail into your take on their biology and how nicely you entwined it with existing hsr lore. morphing known issues to match the omegaverse world. i especially liked when you mentioned cutting the other scent gland from the necks, because wow, it’s so barbaric, but makes so much sense to describe it. i’m a big fan of how you organise the story around the main characters — like i’m reading news or just following canon events, because everything just fits so well that i’m not even questioning if you came up with all these names by yourself or if they were mentioned somewhere in the game. there are just things that must happen (arriving at the desert planet) no matter what, and we’re following the narrative, but oh! suddenly something unexpected happens (the heat) and what now?!

i’m also surprised because this fic wasn’t deranged at all? or i’m just clueless lol sure, the setting wasn’t cotton candy sweet at all, but the story itself was rather soft and slow, and loving. i love love love the reader there — they’re so respectful and understanding, and how they view aventurine is so special. they seem so pure despite all the awful things they have gone through. i just can’t wait to read how their relationship develops.

i feel like aventurine is slightly different here. but i enjoy it! i guess it’s because in this fic he’s forced into a vulnerability he cannot control — something that probably didn’t happen to his canon version. so he’s more… pathetic? it adds the edge because the risk seems even greater, and i completely understand the reader to worry about his luck and confidence when his heats are still the biggest threat. their dynamic is so interesting. that aventurine, despite being an omega, has the reader wrapped around his finger because they’re so down bad for him. their instinct turned into love :(

and i was supposed to say nothing yet i yapped. i thought i wouldn’t have the attention span or the strength to read through this entire fic in one sitting, but i got so invested!!! like i was watching a tv show, not reading!!! thank you for the amazing fic, mao 🙇

listen man. listen. jason and reyna have the potential for the most interesting dynamic in the entire rrverse and i stand by that ok. like imagine. two people who were best friends are suddenly torn apart and when they reunite through no fault of either of them one cares a lot more than the other now. losing jason was the worst thing reyna ever felt and then he came home and looked her dead in the eyes and treated her like a stranger. god i am so unwell about them anyway. im mad that this never gets explored in canon it has so much potential. the fucking tragedy of it all. they avoid each other now because one will inevitably end up saying something a little too familiar and its miserably awkward for just. everyone tbh. they cared so deeply for each other amd then it was just gone. she spent months searching for him overworked and unable to even grieve properly and he just didnt care anymore. its unclear how much memory he got back but its obviously not as clear as percy’s and thats so interestingg?? knowing you cared for this place, for this person, so much it was a part of you, and just. having no emotional attachment to it anymore. not knowing how to get back to that even if you want to. oughhhh. not knowing how to tell them the person they knew is dead or at least unrecognizable. if you take every moment and memory that makes up a person away and put newones in their place is it still the same person? she loved him more than anything. he doesnt know how to be the person she loved anymore. he doesnt know if he wants to. he avoids her, and she lets him, because really what is there to say? she still cares. he doesn’t. i dont even know how to articulate this okay just. they were best friends. and now everything has changed. and how do you cope with that. what do you do, when your best friend looks you in the eyes and treats you like a stranger? what do you do, looking a stranger in the eyes and knowing she was your best friend?

and nobody ever talks about their relationship??? like they either get ignored or treated like weird exes which is just so not what this is. anyway the implication that reyna had a crush on him was stupid thats called *amatonormativity* reyna is arocoded thank you goodnight. i am so utterly deranged about them <3

About the kid of a bard: Tavern music-esque stuff in terms of genre. Shanties, folk, just stuff you'd hear a tavern bard perform. Though he also likes actual dance music such as waltzes. He can't play an instrument to save his life though, the strings hurt his poor little fingers (which is valid). He is acrobatic however and knows how to handle his body, so he enjoys dancing. Did work as a dancer for a while in Calimshan in-between the urge awakening and entering the cult.

As for class he's a Sorcadin. Divine sorcery turned Shadow sorcery and an oath of Conquest. Thought he's primarily using his spells and his oath is 9/10 times broken. The crushing hope bit unfortunately requires granting hope first, such a shame.

He kept the sword with him but he never attuned to it nor used it a lot, he much prefers daggers or short swords. He could use it since he never attuned, so he wouldn't be driven mad immediately, but he's mainly just afraid of damaging the few possessions he has left from better times. Also he's mad already anyway soooooo

He very much goes by the philosophy of 'Bhaal allows you to choose your battles, as long as you pick them.' He does enjoy killing and he has an incredibly twisted sense of mercy. My guy considers death to be a blessing (thanks to his surroundings) and he personally loves to gift people 'hope' before ending their lives prematurely, kind of gets a deranged kick out of ending people when they're the happiest since that way its a mercy cuz they'll never feel sad again. His assasin gig is rly just a job though, the sacrifices for Bhaal is where the fun's at. And since he does abide by the rules of Bhaalspawn the urge doesn't impact his relationships a lot, but there was an instance where daddy dearest had a shitty day and Gortash nearly got gutted.

As for relationships, besides Gortash he's only really ""close"" (very loose usage of that word) with Orin, Ketheric, Sarevok, Scel and his dog hound of ill omen. Pretty much everyone else he's ever had a noteworthy relationship with is either dead or missing.

and for dialogue my biggest piece of advice is watch the anime, read the manga, and listen to dub to get a feel for how a character talks. how do they shift tone towards the end of a sentence? how long do they talk? are they word or concise? do they use big and complicated words or are they clear but simple? etc etc.

and once you get a feel for their speech patters, READ YOUR DIALOGUE OUT LOUD LIKE YOU WERE ACTING IT!! i think a lot of dialogue that sounds stiff is just bc it sounds Written but dialogue should sound like it's inteded to be Voiced. i hope that helps

Nice ♥️ I haven’t seen Maxxine yet (no spoilers please & thank u!) but I loooved X & Pearl, especially Pearl it was such a fantastic sympathetic villain character introspective.

I’m sure if you’re a horror fan you’ll have seen the OG Texas Chainsaw, the aesthetic for which served clear inspiration for X. If not that’s a must see of course.

Hopefully slightly less obvious recommendations though here we go - I think American Mary is another pretty good exploration of a complex & occasionally awful but very sympathetic violent young woman as the protagonist. Katherine Isabelle is also a goddess. Trigger warnings for graphic onscreen sexual assault & drugging & lots of body horror & medical horror.

Another good one that’s more basic & campy & comedic than X Pearl or American Mary but still super fun is Superhost. This is more of a horror comedy. I was trying to think of my favorite leading lady slasher girlies that shine though & the villainess in this movie is just super super fun & I love her. I just feel like if you love onscreen crazy deranged women this movie is gonna be a good time.

If you haven’t seen the Hostel trilogy I highly recommend it. And I think the second one specifically will cater to you if you like strong female leads. The protagonist, Beth, & the villain she has a kinda homoerotic thing going with, Axelle, give a very Killing Eve vibe. The first movie is lacking compelling leading ladies but it’s still really good & offers an interesting discussion on class & exploitation that appeals to me while still also just being a very fun gory time. The third movie is forgettable nothing special about it I like it just fine as an expansion of the lore because the lore of these movies & the evil secret society at the center is compelling. Anyway I bring up the discussion on class because I think X & Pearl & I imagine Maxxine too are in constant discussion with the audience. It’s fun when movies are more than just a basic slasher although they can be that too, it’s just fun if a movie’s got a self aware analytical meaningful lens you can enjoy too if you like me enjoy being pretentious about slashers.

Rob Zombie isn’t for everyone but the House of 1000 Corpses trilogy while deviating wildly from the above mention of analytical & meaningful discussion - is SUPER fun simply for the lore & characters. I adore the Firefly family & their evil codependent us against the world vibe & there’s something delightful about movies that aren’t trying to do anything other than show you some really fun characters with really fun dynamics. Also again if you enjoy evil violent women you’re under obligation by law to love my best friend Baby Firefly.

If you haven’t seen Abigail yet that’s another super fun violent slasher where the lady leads get to shine. And there’s a ballerina vampire & a heist aspect. Melissa Berera & Katherine Newton are there. You can’t lose.

This is more so simply a brutal gory but also thoughtful & thought provoking movie - Eden Lake. This movie fucked with my head. Watch it for a bad unrelenting bleak & brutal time.

If part of what appeals to you about X is the compelling group dynamic you might really like The Rental. Go into this movie blind if you can because…. It’s just one of those movies that’s so much better if you don’t know in advance where it’s going. What sells this movie is the cast & not even just my best friend Alison Brie, everyone in this movie is sooo good & the chemistry & occasional awkwardness just brings it all so to life. It’s a really really good movie mostly because the characters whether awful or not feel incredibly real so when the plot picks up IT feels incredibly real.

LOVE what you said about maggie like so true. i get being territorial but the fans go past that and get viciously nasty and it negates any real criticisms. she’s my baby but im glad she’s free from the show tbh because they weren’t giving her anything to work with anyway.

and SLC forever! pls go on about puppy amelia if u want lol because on paper she’s exactly the kind of character i should live for but ive never been able to get into her? idky like even knowing her plot of private practice hasn’t helped. and i wanna get the hype i have fomo lmao

& to ur other ask where you outlined ur faves and potential ships, first of all, inspired choices love it. and second, you didn’t ask but i would add tedstina. didn’t see it for the first time but on my second watch they jumped out to me and they’ve been my main non canon ship forever. cannot believe the writers had them arguing over that man when they could’ve ditched him to go eat each other out and then cured heart disease or something. a shame lmao 3/3

i feel the same way, if you asked me to tell you what maggie did in her last 3-4 seasons on the show i would have to plead the fifth or something because i genuinely do not know 😭 but i do remember watching those seasons and being like damn i miss s11-12 maggie (the riggs drama between her and meredith was like contender for top 5 annoying things to happen on this stupid ass show and it pretty much went downhill from there)

no um 😭 like ok idk i just love when characters are all "i love you please let me love you and please love me back" and the other person is like.. cold and lowkey hates them at first but reluctantly grows to love them.. and lets them sleep curled up at the foot of their bed or reaches out to pet their hair when they've had a bad day like OKAY !!!!! will never forgive the writers for forgetting about mermelia after s12 like it was genuinely the most complex, angsty, bordering on sadomasochistic relationship to ever happen on this godforsaken show okay stop I NEED TO SHUT UP NOW but like as i said . it was/is GENUINE brainrot.

(side note whenever i rewatch s12 i get this like. overwhelming instinct to protect and take care of amelia like i literally become a butch lesbian for her. my butch lesbian serve 💅)

(in particular i also think the whole "meredith forgiving amelia for being the wrong sister and the wrong shepherd" is so...... mitski washing machine heart "i know who you pretend i am".... much to consider)

anywayyy 😋 yes you probably didn't see but shortly after posting that i went back to add tedstina because HELLO, how could i forget about tedstina (well i haven't rewatched their main seasons for a long time that's how), i don't know what those two had going on but it was definitely something homosexual. there was a man there for some reason but literallyyy cristina going on and on about how much she loves teddy (esp when you consider that her type is canonically tall and blonde *cough* izzie) and teddy being like wow cristina you're my best student you're so smart and talented and let's make out 🥰
