Such Colorful Lives Legacy Challenge

Hi everyone! I've been working on this legacy challenge for a while, and it's finally done! I'm going to be posting my gameplay, so if you want to get a feel for the challenge, follow along. Or, if you want to play it yourself, please do so! I'd LOVE to see how it goes, so tag me if you do! ❤

General Rules

Play on Normal lifespan

Occult sims are optional!

Feel free to give sims corresponding hair, clothes, and house color schemes, but this is completely optional!

No cheats that will give you an advantage over other players

Generation 1: Red

Even before you achieve fame, you’re the most feared intern in the office. You are confident, sassy, and will do whatever it takes to succeed. You rise through the ranks of the staff at the San Myshuno Times, making enemies and forging alliances along the way. You’re an acquired taste, but your stamp of approval is desired by up-and-coming and professional artists alike.

Your lack of money growing up also caused a fairly materialistic mindset in you. You desperately want to be wealthy, and save nearly every penny you make.

Generation 7: Pink

Your parents were paranoid beyond belief, and spent more time inventing devices to protect themselves from the “aliens” than they did spending time with you. So, your bestest friend growing up was your dog/cat. Animals are your main focus, things such as romance and friendships falling to the wayside. As an adult, you move out with the desire to open and run your own veterinary clinic. You treat every patient and pet owner with the utmost respect and class, and your clinic quickly reaches 5 stars. You don’t have any plans to fall in love or get married, but when a client catches your eye, you know it’s fate. You only have one child together, and it’s quite late in your life, but you don’t regret it. Well, that’s a lie. You do regret dying while your child is so young. They needed you, but you couldn't be there.

You and a fellow coworker have an on-and-off romance, but when you both discover there’s a baby on the way, you decide to make it official. But after your child is born, you know it isn’t working out, and you call it quits. Your kid sees their other parent on the weekends, but mostly live with you in your messy apartment. Suffice to say, you are not a stellar parent, but you try. Your child just seems miserable all the time…

You might be asking; Becca, what the hell is this? Well... It's a rags to riches style mini "BC" I suppose.. though also, not really 🤔 The idea being that Curty here builds up a container community with seven other sims, since he's the jade generation of the NSB2 challenge... Maybe he finds love, maybe not? I guess you could consider it a rough take on a BC since he could fall in love with one of em? But obviously there's no roses, challenges, dates or eliminations and some sims may leave due to.. idk, not being able to cope, falling out with members of the community, whatever else?? We're wingin' it here as per, so we'll see what happens.

Hadrian’s Perfect Fit

Hadrian is ready to look for love again after having his heart broken on Ada's Bachelorette. The 33 year old stylist admits that the Bachelorette was not his finest moment, and has come to accept that he wasn’t being true to himself. Our newest bachelor is bringing a twist to the traditional challenge - Hadrian is bi with a preference for masc partners. So there may be fewer glamorous dresses this season, but Hadrian assures us there will be plenty of romance. The Bachelor and contestants will spend quite a bit of time traveling to exotic locales as Hadrian is looking for someone to go on adventures with.

Submission Guidelines

YA preferred (for the purpose of this BC that means under 40), Adult submissions will be considered and entered at Hadrian’s discretion

Gay/Bi/Pan/Queer men, nonbinary individuals, and trans masc sims accepted. 

Please fill free to give them careers and skills (and cheat them a reasonable amount - don’t max everything). No romantic or unfairly traits please.

Your sim will need an entry introduction and a backstory/profile that gives me more information to go off of. Please feel free to dm me more information if you want there to be surprises or if you just think of something. Sims eliminated from other bcs will be allowed as long as their bio addresses what happened.

This BC is a bit of storytelling and gameplay so decisions will not be made purely from results. Eliminated sims may be used as side characters in potential post bc story (but if you want them back feel free to let me know). Also please let me know on the form if your sim is okay with getting pregnant or getting others pregnant (or neither or both) since mpreg is an option in my saves. I will do my best to properly interpret your sim’s personality, but this is going to be my best guess based on what you give me.

Please provide at least 1 outfit for each category preferably 2-3 for everyday and formal

Maxis Match CC allowed within limits (hair below 7mbs, skin details, tattoos welcome) CC can if be used for the first everyday outfit, but not the rest unless it is repeated (ex. Cc glasses or jewelry from the first outfit can be added to the other outfits since it’s not adding additional files). I have default replacement eyes and about a half dozen Sorbet Remix, Academia, and Jewl eyes so I will be using ones I already have, but I will try to get close if you specify a color. No Alpha cc, sliders, or custom traits (they will show up blank and I will fill them in based on their story).

🎃Happy Simblreen! 🎃

This is technically my 4th but my first in actually participating (the others I was simblreen adjacent). I’ve done vampire and werewolf-themed poses seperately, but now... it’s time to bring them together. I don’t exactly know when it was a thing to be always pitted against each other, but I feel like it’s dumb considering the amount of commonality they have as occults.

Bit of lore stuff: this is a half-AU in that in this AU, Brian is a vampire (canonically, he is not) and John is a werewolf (actually canon, but kind of situational and, y’know not A Thing in TS4 yet). They’re also happily married! I wanted to do something chill this year, so I decided to make a themed couple pose set. I feel like these can be treated as engagement photo, some nice formal pics to put in the living room, maybe something a little sexy after party, etc.

It’s also my first time rendering anything in blender to make things look a little nicer, so, if you’ll excuse the basicnessl ^^;.

Note/Suggestions: I made these with male rigs and this time it’s closer to my sims’ shapes to avoid any floaty hand business. I suggest that the smaller sim is the Bat in this case to avoid clipping (but it’s up to you, really). If you’re gonna use this for m/f sims or f/f, there may be clipping with a certain standing pose (unless they have small boobs, then it’s okay). I’d also suggest something form fitting for the Bat too.

The furniture poses are specific to what I listed, so, if you use a low couch, it’s gonna look weird bc a few of them have the arm resting on the back. Chairs... well, they look okay with others but they sit a little high/low.

Because this is a special pack, the pics that are shown here are rendered, but I also made in-game pics too to show ya’ll how it looks like honestly.

how to enable cc for spellcasters

so i thought this was a me problem but i figure that i should pass this knowledge along for anyone that is suffering from the same issue as me

cc eyes/skin/other things i haven’t found made prior (i want to think just prior) to realm of magic coming out have a habit of breaking and not showing up for spellcasters leaving the unchangeable brown swatch and no eye color swatches present in the case of eyes or just don’t show up in the case for other things

after searching for forever i found a way to fix it! please reblog to save a witch loving friend!

what you’ll need:

sims4studio

the cc you want to show up 

if fixing skin: sims 4 skininator

this first part is for cc like eyes, hairs etc skins will be after that

i haven’t tried out fixing enabling presets yet but it should be as straight forward as fixing skintones

***UPDATE 11/17/20: Brand new tutorial covering changes to how you can enable cc, it’s more general for all occults but all of this applies for spellcasters as well! All other updates (especially for when the December skin update comes out) will be handled over there from now on. this tutorial still applies and much of the information is the same but any future updates will be there. again a link if you missed it

1. you want to open up sims 4 studio and open the cc you want to fix via “my projects”

2. i’m showing this with some nondefault eyes but the process is the same for default eyes. click on the warehouse tab and in the search bar

3. you want to click on edit items and you’ll get this new menu

4. you want to press the add on the bottom and add an occult tag like so 

tip: click on the drop down and type “OC” to quickly get to the occult sections

5. you then hit save on the tags menu and save again once you’re back in sims 4 studio and your eyes (or whatever cc) should show up in game!

disclaimer: usually i find doing this for one swatch enables them all (particularly with default eyes) if that isn’t the case then you’ll have to go to each cas part and individually add the occult tag which is a pain if there are loads of swatchs so i recommend trying it with one swatch first and testing before biting the bullet and doing a lot of swatches.

for skintones

1. you need sims 4 skininator for this open your skin under cloned package editor

2. under the tone manager hit select all

3. click on Add/Remove Tag under the selected skintones

4. add the witch tag like so and click add to selected skintones in package

5. you can see that the occult witch tag has been added. i like to save my package as a new package as the same name as it was and then add “ROM” and keep the original file saved somewhere else in case i need the original again. then close the package.

An Eeveelution (Japanese: ブイズ Vuis) is a term used for the current group of eight Pokémon that evolve from Eevee. It is a portmanteau of the words "Eevee" and "evolution". Its definition may be extended to include Eevee itself.

this “challenge” started off as me just wanting a chill gameplay save. so the rules are really just guidelines in case you might not know what to do, if you think eevee should be a jungle explorer, then make them do that! if you have career mods that fit their types better, use those! it’s all up for interpretation. this is just meant to be a fun little legacy.

by people demand here it is! this is obviously my first time making a challenge up on my own so it might be a little....weird but it’s really about your own interpretation of eeveelutions and having fun. (also shoutout to @tainoodles for helping me with some ideas). if you want to do this tag it as #eevee legacy so i can see it!! i’d love to see other people’s eeveelution sims :)

these are based on how i’ve played my save so far and what i plan on doing in the future. there may be alternatives to aspirations or traits, but feel free to do whatever you like. just have fun with it! if people want this for ts3 i can do that too! Eevee (Japanese: イーブイ Eievui) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

Eevee has a friendly aura about it that just makes everyone love it. They are cheerful and caring, their smile is infectious making everyone around them happy too. Family is very important to Eevee and they make sure that they’re partner and children are well cared for. Food is an Eevee’s kryptonite, from berries to sweets to leafy greens, they will eat it all. But above all else, Eevee is just about the cutest patoot there is.

Vaporeon can be very shy and wary of people not in their family or immediate circle. It may take a while to build up trust but in the end it’s totally worth it. It’s also said that Vaporeon can detect when it will rain...

It’s electric! Boogey-woogey! Jolteon can be quite excitable and will often burnout after a long day of excitement. They love to tinker with electricity and can typically be found around TVs, computers, and even refrigerators. Jolteon may seem intimidating but friends and family come first and they will protect them at all costs. Just be careful when hugging one, you may get a little shock.

Flareon (Japanese: ブースター Booster) is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

Is it hot in here? Or is it just me? Flareon puts up a literal firewall between itself and others, once they open up you’ve earned their trust. Flareon will flare up if intimidated and pounce without a second thought if they feel threatened. They will protect those close to them with utmost priority and often put others before themselves. Flareon can be selfless but they have a strong moral compass and will heed to that before all else. Be careful, you wouldn’t want to feel their wrath.

Perhaps the most mysterious of them all. Espeon is as dangerous as it is beautiful. They can predict other people’s movements and actions with ease and often use this to their advantage. Appearances are important to Espeon and they will do anything to maintain it. They can seem frigid but will protect their family with their life. Be aware of what you think around an Espeon, because they can and will find out.

A creature of the night. Umbreon lurks in the shadows, waiting for unsuspecting prey. They aren’t purely evil per say but they always seem to have ulterior motives. Umbreon is a force to be reckoned with and being on their bad side is not recommended. That being said they do have a heart that glows as bright as the rings on it’s body. Just try not to trip over one at night.

Aspiration: Public Enemy &/or Master Vampire (Vampire pack)

Career: Criminal

Leafeon (Japanese: リーフィア Leafia) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

Remember to eat your greens kids! Leafeon is just here to relax. They don’t like altercations and prefer the pacifist route. Just because they don’t like to fight doesn’t mean they can’t. Leafeon’s sharp leaves will make short work of enemies letting them continue on their day in peace. Surrounded by plants is where Leafeon is happiest. Some people say they smell like freshly cut grass.

Traits: Loves Outdoors ★ Good ★ Vegetarian (if you don’t have CL, you can use a random trait)

Aspiration: Freelance Botanist

Career: Gardener (can only earn money from selling plants)

Glaceon (Japanese: グレイシア Glacia) is an Ice-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

Don’t forget a jacket! Glaceon comes off as cold but like it’s counterparts, they are very loyal and loving towards family and friends. They have a creative eye and love to surround themselves with beautiful paintings and sculptures (preferably ice although crystals do quite nicely). The cold never bothered me anyway.

They will try to resolve any problem with kind words and a smile, if that fails (which it rarely does) they will pounce. Sylveon believes there is still good in everyone and hopes that others see it too. They also love to dance.

Hadrian’s Perfect Fit

Hadrian is ready to look for love again after having his heart broken on Ada's Bachelorette. The 33 year old stylist admits that the Bachelorette was not his finest moment, and has come to accept that he wasn’t being true to himself. Our newest bachelor is bringing a twist to the traditional challenge - Hadrian is bi with a preference for masc partners. So there may be fewer glamorous dresses this season, but Hadrian assures us there will be plenty of romance. The Bachelor and contestants will spend quite a bit of time traveling to exotic locales as Hadrian is looking for someone to go on adventures with.

The show is currently searching for contestants, and will be accepting applications until June 22nd.

Submission Guidelines

YA preferred (for the purpose of this BC that means under 40), Adult submissions will be considered and entered at Hadrian’s discretion

Gay/Bi/Pan/Queer men, nonbinary individuals, and trans masc sims accepted.

Please fill free to give them careers and skills (and cheat them a reasonable amount - don’t max everything). No romantic or unfairly traits please.

Your sim will need an entry introduction and a backstory/profile that gives me more information to go off of. Please feel free to dm me more information if you want there to be surprises or if you just think of something. Sims eliminated from other bcs will be allowed as long as their bio addresses what happened.

This BC is a bit of storytelling and gameplay so decisions will not be made purely from results. Eliminated sims may be used as side characters in potential post bc story (but if you want them back feel free to let me know). Also please let me know on the form if your sim is okay with getting pregnant or getting others pregnant (or neither or both) since mpreg is an option in my saves. I will do my best to properly interpret your sim’s personality, but this is going to be my best guess based on what you give me.

Please provide at least 1 outfit for each category preferably 2-3 for everyday and formal

Maxis Match CC allowed within limits (hair below 7mbs, skin details, tattoos welcome) CC can if be used for the first everyday outfit, but not the rest unless it is repeated (ex. Cc glasses or jewelry from the first outfit can be added to the other outfits since it’s not adding additional files). I have default replacement eyes and about a half dozen Sorbet Remix, Academia, and Jewl eyes so I will be using ones I already have, but I will try to get close if you specify a color. No Alpha cc, sliders, or custom traits (they will show up blank and I will fill them in based on their story).

No occults, vanilla sims preferred.

1. which season are you going to play with first?

Good ol’ spring. Just seems right for beginnings.

2. from what you’ve seen in the trailer, what are you most excited about?

All the gardening stuff, beekeeping, flower arrangements etc. But the skating rinks also seem great

3. what’s your favourite season irl?

Autumn!

4. what’s your favourite flower/plant?

Lily of the valley

5. are you going to create a new sim/family or are you going to keep your current household?

I always open the game without CC first and make a vanilla family to try out the new features. Once I’m sure everything works again I’ll continue my current household

6. what would you like to see in this new add-on that we haven’t seen yet?

Some things that add a little personality to sims. Favourite/least favourite seasons etc

7. how do you feel about not having a new neighbourhood?

Would’ve loved a new one, but if they put more work into the rest of the pack instead then I’m fine with it.

8. snow, rain, sun or wind?

Ehm, rain, I guess. I prefer mild days with a slight breeze tbh.

9. favourite refreshing drink in summer?

Iced tea

10. favourite hot drink in winter?

Hot chocolate. Except in November, cause in November there’s Kirmes in my hometown and there you can buy some really good mead and hot cinnamon apple rum.

11. walk through the forest or by the beach?

Forest! Just because there isn’t much to see at a beach besides half-naked people.

12. swimming pool or ocean?

Swimming pool. I love the ocean, but it also scares me a little.

13. where would you like to travel if you could leave right now for a week?

Hawaii probably. It’s so expensive that it’s a far away dream

13. how is the weather today?

It would be fine if it chose one state. But it was far too hot all morning at 31°C, then there was a storm, after which it cooled down. Now it’s back to warmer. 20 degrees at 11 pm

14. what new traits would you like to see in the new add-on?

I feel like traits don’t mean much. Maybe some that make a sim love certain weather states.

15. do you like to play with supernatural creatures like vampires and aliens? and if so, would you like to have witches/fairies/elves?

I love them, I play with them all the time in ts3. Haven’t really brought them into my current households. Witches/fairies/elves in ts4 would make me so happy

16. what is your favourite thing to do during winter?

Have movie/game nights, and just enjoy friend’s company all bundled up with nice hot drinks.

17. …during spring?

Never go outside and wash my eyes every two hours cause otherwise I’d get tortured by my allergies.

18. …during summer?

Generally stay in the shade, but for swimming I do risk turning into a lobster.

19. …during autumn?

Finally be able to do things outside. Meet up with friends to go to cafes etc. and sit outside.

Windenburg probably cause it reminds me of my hometown, but Brindleton Bay after.

I usually don’t listen to music and watch Youtube or Netflix instead, but when I do listen to music the playlist is pretty much 80% Jonathan Young covers.

23. what’s your favourite thing to do in the sims? creating sims, building, etc?

I spend a lot of my time in sims just letting the game run. I guess I do the most in CAS.

Get to Work? City Living is also nice

I desperately need some more occult lifestates. University would also be nice. Also packs that the other sim games haven’t had yet.

Striker and Stunner Dresses

The crop top from the Bowling Night stuff pack was screaming to become a dress. I heard and answered its call...

👍1-24-20: Fixed random dark spots/shadows on Striker. Tweaked the specular on Stunner to add a subtle silky sheen. Tweaked bump maps and added shadow maps for both dresses. Disabled both dresses for Situation but tagged them under Hot Weather as well as fix the color tags. Also updated CAS thumbnails to reflect changes. See last two pictures for updated version. Oh, yeah, I’ve added a OneDrive link. Don’t forget to delete the old packages you already have before installing the updated ones.
