Anon, I don't know why you randomly decided to send this to me, so I have to tell you something I've been thinking a lot about lately, since I've been watching a dub of homestuck with a friend (currently at act 5 act 1, when they introduce pink fish troll) who wanted me to watch it with them.

Knowing that Toby Fox was living in Andrew Hussie's basement while he was working on undertale has really clarified to me why proto-Papyrus (Fedora Papyrus) was Like That.

Deltarune: Fool's Fate - Feather Forest

Alright! Time for the second area, aka the Feather Forest! A forest of pink, feathery trees decorated with ribbons and streamers. Somewhere in the middle of this area, there are some Ssnekmer and Buttonmitt selling healing items. This area is mostly traversed with Broadway after the party split before right before entering. I think this area also holds a familiar easter egg too... Though that's for the NPC section, before we get to the enemies though, here's a riddle.

31. What crawls on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?

The enemies. The only unique enemies to this are are Snazzalotl and Buttonmitt, as Ssnekmer can be found in the Dusty Plains as well. Snazzalotl is a snazzy quetzal, and based on a feather boa. Buttonmitt are snowmen comprised of buttons. Also I mentioned earlier that some Ssnekmer and Buttonmitt can sell you healing in a section towards the middle of the forest, similar to the Bakesale in Chapter 1 of Deltarune proper. Ssnekmer sells you Gummy Snakes, which vary healing depending on party member. and Buttonmitt sells you Button Drops, which also vary healing depending on party member.

32. What does greed always make you want, no matter how much you have?

Now the NPCs. DrumRboys are also found in a few puzzles (same with Pirolette) but can also be found just standing around. They're always seen next to Keysee. Chim-Chime are also multiple and found around, while Bulboid and Puzzle Jones are individual characters. Bulboid is found in one room where one of the trees has been decorated with ribbons, bells, and Christmas lights, and will comment on it. Puzzle Jones can be found near some of the puzzles and will either comment on how tricky the puzzle seems, or how impressed he is that you solved it.

33. You mistake want for me, yet it is not. If someone is me, you find them annoying though they require you. What am I?

DrumRboys and Keysees are little wind-up drumming toys and their wind-up keys, Chim-Chimes are little bells, Bulboid is a box of Christmas decorations, and Puzzle Jones is either a, an old puzzle of Papyrus's, or b, an old trenchcoat and fedora, also belonging to Papyrus. Thus why Puzzle Jones bears striking resemblance to Papyrus from what can be seen under his hat and coat. No one has seen the lower part of his face or the top of his head.

34. I'm not from the future and not from the past. Once the moment is gone, I no longer last. What am I?

And finally the minibosses. SsnekKing is fought near the middle of the area, and is a supergraded Ssnekmer. It's based on ribbons, snakes, and a rat king. To spare it, you have to find the right music genre to charm all three heads with the help of Broadway.

35. Add a T and I am not, backwards I turn to on, E and N you have none and you’ll often find me paired with E, S, and Y. What am I?

FashiRat is fought at the end of the area, pretty much before you go into Choral Chapel. They are a ferret who's made out of old socks and stuff. A very dramatic individual, FashiRat fights you to try to prove to Magician that they should be let into the Upper Choir, and you spare them by calling for an encore of their attacks before applauding them. At the end it's revealed that Magician never had any intention of letting them into the Upper Choir, but still encourages their performances to inspire the rest of the attic world citizens.

36. Poor people have it. Rich people need it. If you eat it you die. What is it?

Alrighty! Next up is the Choral Chapel characters! I'll post again once I'm done coloring those but in the meantime, have more riddles, Creative Creators!

This is TECHNICALLY my first post on Tumblr, and it is definitely fanart LOL. Okay so like idk I thought this was funny after but also wholesome. Like Lune just randomly shows up where Fell is, so I'm imagine like Crust and Fell are just (idk feeding ducks?-) And Lune just like slowly pops out of the water and nobody has told Crust that lunes just been following Fell sometimes

ANYWAYS enough of that—Like I wanna know if there's any random canons (he's your character so they wouldn't be headcanons?) About Crust? Like just ones you like? /genq/nf!!

Crust would definitely be surprised and amused of Lune popping out of the water lol

And here's my fav things about Crust:

• He loves messing with everyone. He especially love people's reactions of them seeing him eat ONLY the crust of everything (like bread, pizzas, etc.) for the first time.

• He usually keeps a pillow and a blanket in his inventory. Both are somehow always clean.

• He wears what he sees or what's available. He doesn't give a crap of what he wears. Though his brother constantly reminds him to dress properly. If Crust refuses to dress properly, his brother will force him.

• And remember the art where Crust is wearing a hat? Yeah, I'm finally giving context to that. A Mobfell Papyrus actually bought him that hat. He usually sees his brother with a hat on, and seeing a version of his brother (Crust) not wearing a hat weirded him out. So he quickly bought a fedora and placed it on Crust's head and walked away without elaborating.

• He actually has the exact same jacket of Canonfell Sans in his wardrobe. He's been wearing a lot because Canon #3.

• Kinda related but Nugget is usually sitting on Crust's shoulder or on his skull (like in the 200 followers art).

"Don't judge a book by its cover" is such a nothing phrase. We all know it means "the cover doesn't necessarily represent the contents," but so often it does. This is not to say that one should outright toss aside a book--or a person--simply because the cover does not fit our ideal book/people. But in a sea of content, a cover helps draw the eye to books that appeal to you.

I like books about necromancy, so looking at the cover of Gideon the Ninth, with its bones all over, I might be drawn to that masterpiece of a novel. I am not a fan of genre romance, so when I see the new hallmarks of such works (two people that look like they were hacked out in illustrator in a Location TM together), I will avoid it.

Red Tower, as a publisher, is intent on churning out "beautiful" covers with lazily edited fantasy/romantasy inside them. The moment I see sprayed edges, I check the bottom of the spine to see if it has the RT logo. (It often does). Honestly, RT has adjusted what I find beautiful on books, as sprayed edges (that once seemed so special) no appear cheap and careless to me.

AI on the cover might say that a publisher (or, in some cases, an author) does not care about the creatives they employ (or, in this case, don't employ).

As someone with a passion for graphic design (unironically) and as someone who loves to analyze media in all its forms (including fashion), there is so much that a cover will tell you, that an outfit will tell you. If someone wears a fedora, do you trust them? If a book title is in comic sans (or, god forbid, papyrus), does that not affect your first impression?

The phrase has a good message behind its literal meaning. A girl dressed like a bimbo might be ditzy or they might just enjoy the camp aesthetic. Someone in a fedora might be toxic, or maybe they're just unaware of the implications and enjoy the style. Someone in baggy, unkept clothes might be unfashionable or simply unable to afford better clothes. But that does not mean that what they wore had no meaning, simply that an initial impression might be wrong.

Also, it's important to note that in a racial context, "judging a book by their cover" can mean actual prejudice. However, the problem there is a flawed judgement. Colorblindness is, similarly, a flawed ideal that ignores the cultural ties of ethnicity and minimizes the real issues of racism in our society. The solution to internalized prejudice is not perpetuating the fallacy of "colorblindness," but checking one's own biases once greeted with them. In a society that is so heavily seeped in racism, it is necessary for all members, but especially those in the privileged group, to evaluate their judgements and adjust their actions accordingly. This is absolutely a simplification of the issue, but I do not mean to write a dissertation here.

The point is, the cover always says something. Whether that something is correctly interpreted by the reader is irrelevant to the fact that it will be interpreted. The goal should not be to pretend we live in a world where covers have no meaning, but to be careful that our interpretations match reality and do not harm the people that might be affected by them. Humans are creatures of pattern, for better or worse. For better or worse, we must understand that we do judge a book by its cover before we can unpack what that means for the book, and for ourselves.

SNOOPTALE!! (AKA ANOTHER UTAU)

Back then..like throw back to 2018 or so- I created (imagined) this au which had no name but only had the characters from UNDERTALE in it like Sans, Papyrus, Frisk etc. Etc...

And the au was about detective stuff like you know those noir movies? Ya like those and obviously Sans and Papyrus were detectives and worked for Gaster who was dying on his death bed and Frisk who helped them with their investigation BUT WE HAVE A PARTY POOPER HERE GUYS!! (Well not really I love her) Toriel was always worried for Frisk and never really wanted Frisk to get into detective stuff and Yada Yada the LORE is insane but I will post it about piece by piece

Also I called Sans Fedo because he has a fedora hat..

So why is it called Snooptale?

One day me and my friend went in whiteboard and it was like 3 am and they suddenly asked me if i had a sans oc which i replied with yes but I only imagined him (Fedo!Sans) and she told me to try to draw him and...yeah here we have this masterpiece..and then searched for "synonyms for detective" and ya snoop really stood out the most to me

(OH and Snooptale is a bit inspired by Mafiatale and Mobtale but Frisk was abandoned by their parents because their family was poor and wanted the best for Frisk and was found by Toriel and she adopted them and sans and papyrus are the good guys- and Toriel or Asgore isn't their boss or whatever and flowey is just flowey in my au and the stuff goes on plus I thought it would be more canon yk what I mean aha..)

Combining the 'Deltarune Papyrus uses aspects of Fedora-Papyrus' crack theory, the 'Gaster is Papyrus' theory, and the 'Sans hasn't called Papyrus by name in DR because he uses a different name' theory to create the most cursed Gaster take imaginable.

I've replayed Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 to get ready for Chapter 3 and 4. One of the things I keep wondering is that how is Toby planning to handle Papyrus. He could have the same design/personality like how he did in Undertale, but Toby does seem like the type of guy who would change a beloved character like Papyrus for the fun of it.

If he does change him, I see the two options being his old beta designs.

He could turn Papyrus into his fedora wearing design. But turning Papyrus to an incel would be a too severe of a departure from his personality in Undertale, so here's how I think we can make a funny joke out of it.

You know how in Undertale, Papyrus really wanted to become a member of the Royal Guard? That obiviously does not exist in Deltarune because the overworld is more realistic place, and because of that Undyne is the police chief instead of being the head of the Royal Guard. So if there's no Royal Guard, what would Papyrus want to become? Exactly, Papyrus wears a fedora and a trenchcoat, because he wants to become a detective.

You could have it so that when Kris tries to explain to Papyrus the unfortunate implications of wearing a fedora, he'd respond to them with "IT MAKES ME LOOK LIKE A NICE GUY? I THOUGHT IT WOULD MAKE ME LOOK COOL BUT THAT'S EVEN BETTER! MY BROTHER ALWAYS TOLD ME HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE NICE TO OTHER PEOPLE!"

And if that's how Toby changes up Papyrus, I hope there's a moment in the game where he goes

"IT'S A GOOD THING SKELETONS DON'T HAVE ANY SKIN SO WE DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BODY HEAT! IF WE DID, THEN I'D HAVE TO STOP BEING A DETECTIVE ON HOT DAYS BECAUSE THEN I'D HAVE TO TAKE OFF MY SLEUTHING OUTFIT!"

"I CAN'T DO THAT! CRIME NEVER TAKES A SUMMER VACATION!"

"...OR MAYBE THEY DO? I NEED TO ASK THOSE DOGS"

Or, he could turn Papytus into that stick figure looking skeleton he was designed as once. If that's the route Toby chooses, then it'd be funny if stick figure Papyrus slid into the door frame after you opened the door to the house, just said "...SUP", slid back into the house and closed the door.

And after that, you talk to Sans and he comments on that by saying "i think he took a liking to you. who knows, maybe if you hangout with him more, he'd say more things than just a hello"

But I think that joke would be funnier if the hangout with Papyrus you were promised happened on the last chapter
