But all he said was, “Right.” Then, again, two seconds later. “Right.” “Get it over with, then,” Harry said tiredly. “Get what over with?” Malfoy asked nastily, already back in fine form. “Look, you may be many things, Malfoy, but you’re not an idiot. Say whatever you want to say about me liking blokes so I can forget this whole conversation ever happened.” Malfoy blinked at him. Slowly, the nasty expression softened slightly, replaced once more by something Harry couldn’t read. “Well, they’re better looking, aren’t they?” Malfoy said finally, each word offered very deliberately, and very neutrally, into the space between them. Harry stared at him.

"quick—give me a crazy tidbit. this writer's block is kicking my ass. i'm on the verge of doing something crazy—something impulsive—something unthinkable—just to jumpstart whatever motivation or muse i have hiding . . . maybe a spooky fact would be good." hiyori looks at luna with pleading eyes and a quivering pout, hoping that luna, with all of their creativity and knowledge on the occult and strange, would say something wise, or interesting—or bat shit wild—that would give her exactly what she needed to work on her next piece. "or this is impossible and i should just get a balloon tattooed on my ass just because . . . would you get one with me?"

A blanket of white noise had settled over the tower, snow listlessly fell from above, a fresh blanket which would send them off on the next stop within their journey. Lothar hadn't been able to sleep well since the genesis of their journey; whether it was the biting cold, the rats they now cohabited the Keep with, or the wailing cries of orphans muffled in the night - the berserker and mercenary often paced in the room he'd been allotted. It was true that silence was a danger, something many found comforting was something he often found unnerving; he'd been used to the mindless stretch of small talk, hushed stories meant to comfort children prattled out in the late hours of the night. Monsters could not strike if warriors and protectors stayed up to slay the dragon - it was a false hope, a prayed wanton that would ultimately crumble before his eyes.

Chaos erupted in the courtyard below, a stampeding ogre charging those who had quietly rested within the enclosed court. Lothar had heard the cries, the snarling wails, that animal ferocity when once was faced with the pivotal breaking point of life or death. Shrieks and genlocks seemed to come forth from the darkness that shrouded the halls inside as Lothar stepped out of his quarters, his ax wielded and ready to strike.

Darkspawn garnered a certain strength that left mere mortals helpless to their lethality, but Lothat would not go down without a fight, his ax striking the shriek that lay in wait just outside his door. A lucky hit as it surrendered to the shadows and pulled away for an easier target, but Lothar was not willing to let it slip by so easily for it's next mark. Others stirred from their rooms as darkspawn littered the halls, chaos and disorder at the cynosure of Lothar's gaze. Enemy, friend, or foe; it was nearly impossible to tell as darkspawn cut through more innocents than Lothar could even count.

He yanked the closest recognizable person behind him, a quiet blonde, one he'd barely exchanged several words to but now felt vehement to protect. "The stairs are not far off," the corridor was mirrored, there'd be dozens more to face on their descent, but the only way out was through. Black ichor had already stained his face, the spattering of a hurlock who'd attempted to charge him as he flanked the wall with...- Luna, was it? - behind him. "How are you in a fight?" A clumsy hand yanked a sheathed dagger off his thigh to blindly give to her.

it wasn't like raquel was expecting for romie to tackle her and pin her to the ground — though she certainly wouldn't have minded. it seemed obvious, locking the door to the dean's office and keeping the key to herself, effectively cutting off the one clear escape route. she wasn't going to be jumping from the window or climbing through an air duct any time soon, so that put them at a stalemate. "i think you're forgetting something." she said in a sing-songy voice. "i mean, let's run through the hypothetical here, right? we both end up staying here until morning or until some security guard kicks the door down, who do you think gets out of that one unscathed? because, i don't even think i'd need to blame you. the way you talk about your life they'd probably pin it on you by default." it wasn't like raquel took particular pleasure in playing dirty, but she wasn't about to pretend her advantages in life didn't exist. she'd been lucky enough to be born to a father who provided for his daughters with every wicked deed he performed. "now, on the other hand, let's say you maim or murder me for it. well, i don't know how much faith i have in your ability to get out of that one either. so what's it gonna be, romie? secret option c?" now she was doing her own goading, stepping into her space just because she could. her heart raced with the adrenaline of the closeness, of the game between them, though it was more of a game for her than she supposed it was for the other girl.
