"Little Heaven" - Encore Performance
So you all may have noticed my absence from the Internet since late last year. I think since we're coming up close to the show dates, I'd like to share more about the (now award-winning) local stage musical my brother and I are a part of called "LITTLE HEAVEN." Not only are we in it, but also the director asked me if I would be willing to record a number of the songs she wrote for the musical to put up online to drum up hype for our Encore Performance at the end of this coming August.
"LITTLE HEAVEN is set amidst the backdrop of post-World War II Poland and weaves together the stories of those most affected by the horrors of the past as they grapple to rebuild their lives."
01) - Dance Of Life
This song's one of my favourites that I helped record for Piper and Lori Distel. "Dance Of Life" is originally sung by "The Peddler," LITTLE HEAVEN's nameless narrator. He lives around Maél Niebo, an apartment complex that refugees, the lower class, and the disparaged call their home. He is their witness and takes an interest in the ever-changing events in their small Polish town.
"Told through song, scene and monologue, the stories of Maél Niebo's residents are intertwined, exploring themes of grief, hereditary bias and the power of community.
02) - Part Of The Plan
The song "Part Of The Plan" was originally sung by the co-writer and director herself, Lori Distel in the role of Tovah Hoffson, mother of Rachel and wife of Solomon Hoffson. After the horrific tragedy that displaced many of Maél Niebo's residents, Tovah tries to remind the community that there must be a blessing hidden in their tragedy. Sadly, her message is not welcomed by everyone.
Big thanks to my brother JERO (aka John Michael Kelly) for providing the voice for Tovah's opposition in the recording.
03) Justice For All
Justice For All paints the conflicting worldviews of the German father Leo Meier, and the Romani Maestro Marik Covali, who had been hired to teach music to the Meier daughters. JERO in this recording plays the voice of Leo while I provide the voice of the Maestro.
"Leo Meier, a newspaper reporter from Berlin, wrestles with the guilt he harbours for the small part he played in perpetuating the Reich's hateful message. Romani violin virtuoso, Maestro Covali, attempts to start anew following the tragic deaths of his wife and young daughters."
04) - Land Of Broken Dreams
"The Hoffson Family; father, mother, daughter. There were sons, too, in the days before. Twins. Then, there were thousands of sons. Thousands of daughters. Not anymore..."
And at last we come to one of the songs that I actually sing in the live production of the play, "Land Of Broken Dreams." Together, JERO and I play as David and Daniel Hoffson, the only of Solomon's children to die in the Holocaust. Twins were subjected to inhumane science experiments in the camps. In this song, Solomon wrestles with the guilt he feels over doing what he had to to save his children from a fate worse than death.
The play also touches on topics of queerness, love separated by religion and tradition, and hope - even when the world is at its darkest.
Other songs recorded by and mixed by Alexander W. Halma-Reed are also up wherever you listen to music. Click here to hear some more!
LITTLE HEAVEN Music and Lyrics by Lori Robinson Distel and Book by Piper J. Distel. Orchestrations by Alexander W. Halma-Reed. The show goes live August 29-September 2, 2024 at The Guelph Little Theatre in Guelph, Ontario Canada.

hello hello !! this is me inviting you talk about your titan army ocs (if you want to ofc) !!!!
i always want to talk abouy my titan army ocs. i love them so much i plucked them out of pjo and now i'm writing an entire original work with them as the main characters. but that's a conversation for my main blog @encrucijada
the ocs are part of an ongoing au/rp between me, @on-the-river-lethe and a friend of ours who's not on tumblr. we each created an oc to play as and things unravelled from there. this is going under a read more because boy there's a lot
piedad narváez (my oc). daughter of urania, muse of astronomy. they/she. claimed soon after arriving to camp, has an okay relationship with her mum but only because she's an only daughter lol powers are orpheus-like in that whenever she plays music they can entrance people, can also navigate using the stars. then while doing research i realised urania had a prophetic aspect and now piedad sometimes receives premonitions when looking at the stars. weapon of choice are knives and has a violin as a support item for the music stuff, the bow of which turns into a stiletto knife.
hudson moretti (fluffy's oc). son of hypnos, god of sleep. he/him. big guy but a huge softy, a sleepy jock if that's a thing. less than having a bad relationship with hypnos he just doesn't have a relationship with him at all lmao because hypnos is bad at checking in on his kids. has the standard kid of hypnos powers like inducing sleep and also dreamwalking and dream discarding. uses a sword as weapon. him and piedad obviously stayed at the hermes cabin and they were sort of the de-facto counsellors of the claimed kids with no cabin. everyone uses him as a pillow because he makes sleeping safe and cosy.
ericka mulligan (oc of our other friend). daughter of demeter, goddess of harvest. she/her. starts out as the counsellor of cabin 4 until deserting before som. demeter favoured her for being the counsellor but everyone in cabin 4 knows mum will never love you as much as she loves persephone. the "manager" of the team, in a way, she has a schedule and a list for everything. standard demeter kid powers like plant growing, etc. i actually have no idea what her weapon is?? gotta look it up. one-sided crush on luke rip. would have put her hands on the fire for him.
adam rubio (another oc of mine). son of apollo, god of music. he/him. i specify god of music because adam got the music aspect of his dad's attributes, if he sings or plays an instrument he can do all sorts of things ranging from inducing sleep to inducing pain. has no opinion of apollo one way or another. not actually part of the titan army! he stays behind and it's a huge conflict with the others. main weapon is the recurve bow but knows how to use a sword for survival reasons.
allegra anders (npc). daughter of tyche, goddess of fortune. she/her. she and her twin sister rachel were staples in cabin 11, until rachel joined the titan army and left allegra behind. haven't really explored her character in depth but i know she has a special coin she fidgets with a lot.
robin holloway (npc). daughter of hebe, goddess of youth. she/her. another staple of cabin 11, doesn't join the titan army just like allegra. hudson's ex-girlfriend lmao probably the nicest girl you will ever meet. we wanted conflict and also to populate camp with more "older" demigods, that's why these two girls are here.
and we also did stuff like ageing up malcolm pace to be luke's age and now he is the counsellor of cabin 6 because annabeth was literally 12 in tlt. she's co-counsellor due to being a lot more proactive than malcolm. and we also aged up alabaster torrington to be one or two years younger than luke, just because i doubt a bunch of demigods in their 20s would have been like "yeah let that 15yo participate in meetings". we always saw the titan army as more a congregation of young adults than teenagers, basically the demigods who've been here too long and are tired. not featured here are some "name only" background characters like counsellors for other cabins, because we stuck to what annabeth says in tlt about all counsellors except her being of college age. in our take of pjo these counsellors would leave for the army and leave their teenage siblings at the head of the cabins, which would be the counsellors we see throughout pjo
okay with the stage set now let me Actually talk about these guys
@on-the-river-lethe (aka fluffy) and i have done most of the work here. our other friend isn't as insane about pjo lmao. on top of the changes to some ages and whatnot we also did a crucial change regarding luke's quest mates not dying in the garden of the hesperides, instead he is accompanied by piedad and hudson who are both brutally injured by ladon. luke gives up the chance to take the golden apple while ladon is distracted more or less killing his friends to help them. piedad does lowkey die and while passed out receives a premonition of luke with golden eyes. we have an overview of how the quest goes and to add insult to injury hermes sent luke on a fetch quest just to keep him from getting antsy, it wasn't for anything heroic.
things go back to business as usual with all three of them baring the scars of the failed quest, it hits luke the worst. when kronos starts stirring things up in his brain ericka, hudson and piedad don't follow because of kronos but because they believe in luke. luke is their friend, luke is the best of them, luke is the poster-child hero, if anyone can bring change it's luke. ericka and hudson abandon camp before the events of som, piedad sticks around. the premonition is worrying and they're not sure what to do about it. but life at camp without her friends becomes unbearable. she's just another cabin-less demigod in cabin 11, she's a low risk cabin-less demigod in cabin 11. before the events of ttc she makes the switch fully.
because we discovery write a lot of the details i can't say exactly what happens while they are all in the titan army proper. i know piedad doesn't desert camp until the battle in camp at the end of botl, they'd gone back in the summer to be a spy. we know that when luke suggests bailing on everything once he realises kronos used him hudson in particular gets on his case about it (slams luke against a wall) and yells at him about how they risked everything for him, he can't run now, they won't leave every demigod that believes in them to die. we know they go with luke to see may castellan and she grabs piedad by the shoulders and yells about luke's fate to her face. piedad had kept the premonition to themself this whole time and luke, obviously fed up about his fate being kept from him, snaps.
i have written a couple of one-shots for this. i have one about piedad having a conversation with kronos where she bluffs about him getting to the throne room in olympus and luke dying (she was right) and probably has some of my favourite quotes. one of the immediate aftermath of the garden of the hesperides where apollo warns her against telling luke. this monstrosity about adam, the son of apollo mentioned above, who took over my brain and is set after the events of tlo.
(we call the group of luke, ericka, hudson and piedad the "generals" btw.)
the aftermath of everything is a little clearer than the actual events within pjo. ericka, hudson and piedad move to chicago where hudson is from. they stay with hudson's mum for a while before getting their own place. they are pretty much war criminals now, son of magic style, and the olympian council wants them out of the picture. they may not be children of the big 3 dangerous but they did grow in power while being generals of the army. they did not stay to receive any possible pardons or sentence, following the battle of manhattan they simply fled. apollo offers piedad a position as a sibyl, due to her prophetic abilities, it's not a pardon of any kind but it is a bit of protection as harming an oracle is strictly forbidden. they never set foot in camp again.
i like to picture them as a possible pit-stop during tlh. jason, piper and leo would be running from a monster and see this neon sign advertising a sibyl of all things and offering card readings. they go inside and what they find are former titan army soldiers. a guy drinking a large cup of coffee. lots of plants everywhere. and the sibyl is a short scarred enby.
not everything is set in stone and we have much to explore still, like morpheus (hudson's brother) siding with kronos. ericka probably never spoke to demeter ever again, or more like demeter never spoke to her again after she disappointed her so. and just because this is our au and we can do whatever, the generals meet nico and form a bit of a relationship with him. not that we need an excuse apart from "fluffy and i really like nico and we want our ocs to interact with him", but it does fit nico's tendency to just be in on everyone's business. and i think it would be hilarious if he knew about the generals, was friends with them, stayed at their place sometimes, and just never mentioned it at chb.
uh. what else. um... piedad/adam is a thing because i wanted my daughter of a muse oc to have a thing going with a son of apollo. we made malcolm/hudson a thing and it's amazing. i could talk for hours about adam, but right now i'll say he becomes head counsellor of cabin 7 after lee fletcher dies in botl (lee in our version would have been a veteran camper, older than luke).
man this ran long oops. sorry for mostly talking about my oc, it's because they're my oc. i talk even more over on my main blog, about the pjo versions but also the original versions (the worldbuilding is based on dreams).
so, yeah!
thank you for asking <3 sorry you released the flood
#if there are spelling or grammar errors i will deal with them later#these guys take up too much real estate in my brain send help#answered#fic: titan generals#my fic

okay in order to not be too obnoxious (or break post limit) i am putting all my thoughts about unreal unearth here. so album spoilers if u care about that go listen to it its incredible!!!! n e ways here are my thoughts on each song :)
de selby (part 1) - okay im so excited to have lyrics for this album because What is he saying...still such a beautiful song. i missed softer/acoustic hozier so i adored that but the like part where it gets louder at the end?? AMAZING!! i also think some lyrics weren't in English so i'm very intrigued to see the translations.
also THE TRANSITION BETWEEN THIS AND PART 2??? CHEF'S KISS PERFECTION
de selby (part 2) - of course i've already heard this as it was a single but hearing it paired with part 1 actually made me love it more, like the instrumentals are the ones in part 1 but its more upbeat and it's great!! i have no clue what he's talking about but that's what genius.com and smarter tumblrinas are for <3
first time - OH. MY. GOSH. easily a new favorite of hozier's that was fucking incredible. he sounds BEAUTIFUL and the lyrics??? oh my gosh??? so amazing. and like it's so danceable but i got teary at the end. oh my gosh. cannot say that enough. actually breathtaking.
francesca - already listened to it but it just cannot be overstated how amazing this song is. i truly think its one of hozier's best. his voice sounds insanely good and the instrumentals KILL but the lyrics are really what do it for me. they're so fucking beautiful.
i, carrion (icarian) - that was so beautiful. such a pretty song, i adore the guitar and violins (?? i'm not musically talented i'm guessing that's what they are dsjdsfk) and i'm actually in love with the lyrics. like. oh my gosh top tier love song (if i interpreted right lol). also the title is like a 3-way plan on words (i, carrion, icarian, and i carry on im guessing?) and i am very excited to figure out what they mean fjdsdk. so good.
eat your young - another one we've already heard! tbh i'm enjoying this pattern of non-single to single bc i need a break after how good the nonsingles are LMAO. this song is so fucking good! like as the first single it needed to prove how good this album is and MAN it did. the lyrics are so great, he sounds amazing and the instrumentals are so good. not much to say but i love this song so much.
damage gets done (feat. brandi carlile) - okay i had incredibly high hopes for this and i still like it, but not as much as the others so far sskjd brandi & andrew's voices blend beautifully though there's no denying that. i just wasn't vibing as much. but it's still a great song!! not bad at all just not as good as the others!
who we are - WOW. not as like life-changing as some of the others but that was beautiful. like. WOW. those lyrics are so incredible. like the opening lyric already had me in a puddle of my own tears. so good.
son of nyx - okay i wasn't expecting a (mostly) instrumental track but maybe i should've been! i liked it a lot!! the like ambience had me hooked from the beginning and i really like it. it belongs in a fantasy movie soundtrack i think.
all things end - back to a single! i totally expected this to be the last song on the album but i got no problems with it being here. this is such a beautiful song with such potent (big words!) lyrics, and all of the voices harmonizing is so gorgeous. i adore this song so much, it's so underrated and that better change!!
to someone from a warm climate (uiscefhuaraithe) - WOW. that was so insanely beautiful. while i love the more produced songs of his i am a firm believer that hozier sounds better acoustically because his voice is just flawless. i need lyrics & a meaning for this song STAT because i kind of gathered it but i need more!! so in love with this one.
butchered tongue - i expected this one to be my favorite and i don't think it is but MAN it's so good. you can hear his voice and his accent so well which makes me feel so many things. also another softer song which are my favs. i just adore this, the lyrics are beautiful and just <33 i'm in love with it!!
(okay in between here i took a big break bc i felt sick and came back much more sleepy so if that impacts the writing i apologize lmfao
anything but - the lyrics are probably gutwrenching but i didn't hear them so i'm taking this from what i heard which is WHIMSICAL!!! not my favorite but i liked it a lot, was smiling and bopping my head. great time. loved the backing vocals.
abstract (psychopomp) - OH MY GOSHHHH HELLO!!!!! this is an absolute banger. displays hozier's vocals so so well but it has a BEAT! so in love with it. and those lyrics...i need to lay down
unknown / nth - another single!! i could write essays about this song. everyone and their grandma needs to listen to this song. it's fucking perfection. best song on the album. i cried the first time i heard the bridge just because of the emotion in his voice and the build of the instrumentals. it's seriously so good. the lyrics are incredible and it just makes me feel so much. 10000/10 perfect song
first light - I THINK I JUST ASCENDED. God that was SUCH a beautiful song and such a great closer. all of the backing vocals were so (i can't think of another word sorry) beautiful, but tbh my favorite part oddly enough were the last like 10 seconds where it just ended with guitar. it's such a like ethereal song and then it does that to end the album. and i adored it.
okay overall that was a fucking EXPERIENCE. literally everything i could hope for and more. thanks for reading all my musings if u did i love u forever. hozier the man that you are. i will rank it eventually but for now i need to sleep and think about how these songs are so aziracrow coded (look at me only mentioning them once! it was very hard lmfaoo) i love this album 0 skips i love hozier okay GOODNIGHT

Father Dearest - Takashi Utsui x Reader
Summary: Ushijima makes it clear that he’s not interested in you but you find something better. (~1.1k words)
Warnings: age gap but consensual adults, sorta vanilla nsfw i guess it’s all about the mind games
A/N: this could be better and smuttier but I have to go to sleep lmfao. This is my first old man smut. Shocking.
---
Being friend-zoned was hard enough after pining as intensely as you did but damn, you had really outdone yourself this time.
For starters, you had only unintentionally meandered your way into Ushijma’s tight circle, a feat that was already remarkable enough on its own. The athlete’s resting facial expression was always intimidating and he kept the number of people he engaged with emotionally low, even if over time you realized he was a lot softer and sweeter than he let on.
Yours was an odd sort of friendship that had begun after being paired together for a school project. You’d been irritated enough that you were still doing group work in the second half of your junior year of college, and terrified once you realized you’d be doing it with him of all people, but a small camaraderie had bloomed after you’d gotten to know him for what he truly was - a kind, sweet, and unfortunately for you, very attractive soul.
But then you’d gotten too comfortable and furthermore, just a bit too bold, and you made the mistake of developing a crush. Even worse - you had actually told him how you felt.
Polite yet direct as he was, he let you down gently but to you, it was possibly the harshest thing you’d ever heard in your life.
“I’m just not interested in dating right now, and we are certainly better suited as friends.”
You were shocked that you’d managed to not burst in tears, and somehow you’d remained stone-faced. It was even more shocking that in those few words, that was the end of that conversation. In fact, once the words had settled in the air between you, he gave you a sympathetic but un-invested look and immediately thereafter, he’d flipped the page in his textbook in an inadvertently symbolic fashion to return promptly back to his work.
A singular focus - you’d admired that about him, but the rejection was harsh, especially when he acted as though nothing had happened on that day and days afterwards.
But could you really fault him?
You’d still agreed to meet him at his dorm for another studying session - or rather a tutoring session, since you were the only one who knew what was going on in class at this point and Ushijima wouldn’t risk his athletic scholarship in a million years.
So here you were, making your way through the hallway at the end of which was Ushijima’s suite which you had visited quite a few times but never as the kind of guest you had hoped to be. A frown came to your face as you dwelled on this thought as you waited after a text and a knock on the door.
Maybe after today you’d put some appropriate distance between you just for your mental health, you considered as you rocked on your heels idly.
He was taking longer than usual to get to the door, you thought, only to hear the door whisk open and reveal someone who was in no way Ushijima, and yet…
“And who do we have here?”
There was now a much older gentleman standing before you, one that looked vaguely like Ushijima, but slightly scaled down and noticeably more approachable. Warm even. His smile was wide and reached his eyes, similar to Ushijima’s own smile, but more accessible.
Ushijima eventually appeared behind his father while you tried to piece two and two together to the realization that they were likely related.
“One of my friends, ___,” he said, with a smile, and your heart ached.
---
But not for long.
And for a reason far beyond what you’d anticipated.
It sounded almost lecherous if you said Takashi Utsui had taken an interest in you, occupying himself with a book in the corner while you tutored the son he’d come to briefly visit from overseas. You’d thought it odd that he had stopped Ushijima from canceling your meetup, peering with a sort of curiosity at you and him ever so often as you worked quietly together. You wondered if he had been gauging his son’s interest during that time, and when he finally decided his son hadn’t staked a claim (if he cared at all), deciding at that moment to proposition you with a night out.
It sounded even worse that you’d sensed the attraction the older man had to you barely twenty minutes into your review time, and had decided you were equally as interested. After all, you wondered just how much Ushijima had taken after his father, and you had missed being wanted.
You hadn’t been expecting humoring an older man for a date would turn out with you breathing heavily and soaking wet: from perspiration, from arousal, from tears of overstimulation from orgasms wrenched out of you by the end of the night.
You remembered briefly that Wakatoshi had told you superficially about his parents’ divorce on a late night snack run, and now all you could think was, Holy shit, Ushijima’s mother had left this?
Thick, veiny cock burrowed into you repeatedly, splitting you, splaying you, and if there was any sound you could focus on, it was the earthy grunt so close to your ear, timed with every thrust.
The years had clearly treated Takashi well, because you were pleasantly surprised by how firm his body was now pressed against you, and his energy was no joke - in fact, he had already outlasted the other men you had been with and you were already starting to wonder if he was a better fuck than his beast of a son.
When his angle shifted, and he went from fucking you horizontal to fucking you semi-upright, you knew he had to be better.
Experienced hands played your clit like a violin, and neither your nipples nor the sensitive space behind your ears, nor the soft crook of your neck, were neglected as he continued to piston in and out of you.
But his persistent smile, friendly when you’d first met as the cute friend who hung out with his son, was now arrogant, deepening as he drew moans and mewls out of you. It was almost threatening - here you were, barely able to speak, caged in by your crush’s father, and already you knew your feelings would be hard to manage after this night.
How would you proceed?
When your back arched almost violently in your last orgasm of several, dark spots briefly dotting your vision before settling back into Takashi’s mature face, he held you tightly, waiting for you to settle before rubbing your thighs gently to start much-needed aftercare.
“You know… when my son told me someone had a crush on him I couldn’t imagine he’d be silly enough to rebuff someone as beautiful as you.”
His hands were still rubbing your thigh and you were now resting against him, still as a painting, and heart beating softly despite your slightly restless mind.
Your lips curled into a smile despite your mild exhaustion. Takashi was right. He was silly.
And just to prove how silly Wakatoshi was, you would go one step further: if he’d put you in the friend zone, you’d put him in the step-parent zone.
And you’d enjoy every second of it.

Klaine Advent 2021
Day 9: Fan
AO3
Notes: as you can see by the amount of text, I had a ton of fun with this prompt today. Will proofread tomorrow.
They were a cover band mostly. Honestly, it was a feat they were a band at all. In high school, they all barely had a grasp on instruments. Blaine was a pro on violin but that wasn’t exactly the vibe they were going for. Through sheer determination, Blaine got better at the piano and learned guitar, Sam went for bass, and Tina as it turns out was a rockstar on drums. Over the years, they all tried to learn each other’s but only Tina had managed to nail all three. However, she wasn’t the only member of the band who knew three instruments, as Blaine loved to remind them.
He took his violin playing very seriously and kept up with it even if it had begun as something to please his parents growing up. Really backfired on them, didn’t it? Instead of the discipline they thought it would bestow on their son, Blaine fell in love with music and never stopped chasing the high he felt on the night of his first recital. Ten-year-old Blaine thought he was The ShitTM that night.
Tonight, he was getting pretty close to the heat of walking to center stage, sheet music in front of him, and violin in hand. The silence of the audience, just waiting to see what those strings, bow, and hands could do. Except, the bar they were playing tonight was extremely loud with customers shouting orders to the bartender, a DJ blaring music suggested by the audience, and plenty of people bumping into each other as they moved throughout the place. Still, Blaine felt butterflies and warmth consume him the moment the DJ stopped and The Trio took their places on stage.
They all took turns singing lead and tonight Blaine was up. The Trio played their hits, ones everyone knows. A mix of oldies and top 40s. At some point in their set, they tried to drop in a few lesser-known songs. Blaine had chosen an up-and-coming UK singer-songwriter.
He adjusted the microphone and began to sing.
Oh I, have a hobby of pickin' myself apart
Leavin' people I love waitin' in the dark
And sometimes when I want to cry, I laugh
It's kind of funny
When Blaine sang, he felt it in his bones and the audience could see it as his eyes closed and his body began to act out the lyrics. Especially when he felt as connected to the song he was singing as he did right now.
Right before the chorus repeated, he opened his eyes instantly spotting a shiny pair of blue eyes in the audience. The man was sitting at the corner of the bar, his whole body turned towards the stage, and his tongue playing with the black paper straw of his dark drink. With the lights, Blaine couldn’t fully appreciate the ensemble he had on but he did rake his eyes over the tightness the skinny jeans gave the length of this man’s legs. This was not the time to wonder how the denim likely clung to his ass but still, the thought crossed his mind.
I need to stop my excuses and have a real conversation
Need to look in the mirror, stop findin' things that need changin'
Need to stop gettin' drunk, to avoid this situation
I need to stop, lettin' myself down
Luckily, Blaine didn’t botch the lyrics. He knew this song so well despite it only coming out this past year, the lyrics were ingrained in his brain. He didn’t need Spotify Wrapped to tell him his number one song of the year.
He tried to forget the beautiful man was watching him and let the music wash over him again. This was a performance for more than just the blue-eyed beauty at the bar. Blaine shut his eyes again and blocked out the bar, the man too, and just let Tina’s drums, Sam’s bass, and his guitar fuel him.
When their set ended, the world around them came back to life. The loudness of the bar and the rush of applause. Performances hadn’t felt like this in a long time. Suddenly, Blaine felt like that little boy with a violin again. After packing up their supplies, The Trio made their way to the bar.
To Blaine’s delight, the man with blue eyes was still in the same spot. He found a space, directly next to him, to try and grab the bartender's attention, just begging for the universe to do him this one favor. After placing an order for 3 beers, Blaine tried to look casual letting his eyes drift around the bar. Purposefully avoiding the man beside him until he spoke to Blaine directly, which he did.
“You’re very good,” he said, “all of you.”
Blaine hoped his expression resemble ‘oh, who me? You’re talking to me,’ and not ‘oh thank god, you noticed me.’
“Thanks. It helps to have a good crowd listening.”
He took this opportunity to appreciate the outfit he couldn’t see earlier. Regular denim skinny jeans made Blaine think no one else should wear them cause it is no way to compete with this man. A simply light gray tee-shirt underneath an equally tight-fitting green and blue flannel, which only emphasized the ocean of colors in this man’s irises.
“Even better if they sing along.”
“Exactly,” Blaine agreed, pleasantly surprised by the man.
“I’m Kurt.”
“Blaine.”
I'll try something that I've not before
And like myself a little more now
Maybe it was time to take some advice from his top artist of the year. Wasn’t it time he let himself stumble in love?
“I know,” Kurt replied, taking Blaine way off guard. “I’m a bit of a fan.”
Wait, what? Blaine was sure he would’ve remember this man if he had seen him at other gigs before.
The bartended delivered Blaine beers then, cutting them off for a minute.
“You planning to drink those yourself?” Kurt joked.
“No,” Blaine blushed, “my bandmates are over there.”
He pointed to the tables on the other side of the stage.
“Just let me deliver these.” Blaine picked up two of the beers.
“Need a hand for the third?” Kurt offered.
“Just watch it for me, I’ll be back,” Blaine said, leaving Kurt with his beer and a wink.
Wow, what a dork he was. Blaine wouldn’t be surprised if he found his beer poured out on the floor and the corner seat occupied by someone else when he returned.
Tina and Sam were in deep conversation and barely noticed his approach until the pints were in front of them.
“You’re the best!” Sam exclaimed before instantly chugging half of his.
Tina took a reasonable sip and asked, “where’s yours?”
“Um, left it at the bar.”
“Someone could drug it, you know,” Sam said, helpfully, “you should’ve texted me I would’ve grabbed one for you.”
“No, it’s not just sitting there,” Blaine said, tripping over his words.
Maybe he didn’t need the beer. He was already making a fool of himself without the added alcohol.
“Oh, I see,” Tina teased, “go on, lover boy, make yourself a date.”
Took Sam a little longer to get their meaning but when he did he jumped right in beside Tina with the teasing.
“Or a one-night-stand whatever floats your boat.”
“Who’s the lucky guy?” Tina asked, batting her eyelashes.
“Shut up, you’re both awful friends. I’m leaving now,” Blaine said, “Enjoy your beers.”
“We will!” Tina said.
At the same time, Sam shouted, “Enjoy your man!”
With a red face, Blaine walked back to the bar where Kurt was still sitting, waiting just for him with a smile.

My French music Masterpost
So since half of the population is in quarantine right now I thought I could make a list of some french/ french speaking artists and songs that I listen to and that you could also discover since we all have time to kill.
Obviously I cannot put every single artist and song I know and listen to so it’ll be a bit of mix of my favorite albums/ artists of the past few years but also what i’m listening at the moment !
Pop/ R&B
Angèle
She’s a 23 year old Belgian singer. Her first album was a HUGE hit last year and she got 5 news songs out in November too. She’s also been dating a woman for a few months.
I would recommend to listen to her whole album Brol , it’s quite a bop. Also there are two songs about wlw relationship called « Ta Reine » and « Tu me regardes ». That last song was a kind of coming out song btw, we were all freaking out when we listened to it the first time lmao.
Favorite songs: Les matins, Flemme, Flou, Nombreux, Ta reine, Tu me regardes, J’entends
Clara Luciani
She’s a 27 year old French artist. 2019 was truly her year. She’s has an incredible voice and I just love her energy. She’s an amazing songwriter too. Her first album is called Sainte Victoire.
Favorite songs: La grenade, Les fleurs, On ne meurt pas d’amour, Drôle d’époque, Nue, Dors, Ma Soeur, Bovary.
Christine and the Queens
I think a lot of you know her already. She’s also a queer and pansexual artist. I have to say I really LOVED her first album Chaleur Humaine, one of the best albums of the past decade, but I didn’t love as much her second album (Chris) or her new EP (La vita nuova). I mean they’re good, but her first album was really something else. And it’s also just my opinion !
Favorite songs : iT (it’s in English though), Saint Claude, Science Fiction, Half Ladies, Paradis Perdus, Chaleur Humaine, Nuit 17 à 52, Intranquilité, Amazoniaque, Jonathan, La marcheuse, L’étranger
Therapie TAXI
This is a pretty fun band, their first album has been quite popular. They’re pretty unique and sometimes their songs and lyrics are let’s say... bold lmao. I haven’t listen to all their songs though, there’s like 25 songs in their first album and 15 in their second aha. But they also have so many bops.
Favorite songs: Hit Sale, J’en ai marre, Salop(e), Avec ta zouz
Aya Nakamura
Aya is now a r&b/pop superstar here in France and even in other countries in Europe. She’s 25 and you can hear her songs in every night club and party here. Can’t say her lyrics are very elaborated but her songs are real bops and the best to dance to in your room lmao
Favorite songs: Djadja, La dot, Pompom, Copines, Pookie, Sucette, 40%, Comportement
Lous and the Yakuza
She’s a 23 year old belgian artist. She only has 3 songs out for now, but i’ve been pretty obsessed with them. Her lyrics are pretty great too (and she’s SO beautiful omg).
Favorite songs : Dilemme, Tout est gore, Solo
Yseult
Yseult is a 24 year old french singer/songwriter. She’s has a beautiful voice and the beats are also great. I haven’t listened to all her songs though, I only heard her new EP Noir which is great.
Favorite songs: Corps, Nos souvenirs, Noir, 5H
Indie/electro rock/folk :
Pomme
Pomme is very famous in the LGBTQ community in France, but i haven’t listened much to her songs (yet). She’s a 24 year old french and lesbian singer songwriter. Her songs talk about love, anxiety, and even death. She has a such beautiful voice too.
Favorite songs: On brûlera, A peu près, Anxiété, Je sais pas danser
The Dø
The Dø are a finnish/french duo and also one of my favorite band (they sing in english though). They made of of my favorite albums of the last decade, Shake Shook Shaken, which came out in 2014. Their first albums sounded more folk/indie rock, but their third album is much more electro. And the album is about the break up of the lead singer, Olivia Merilahti, and the musician, Dan Levy. One of my favorite song of all time is in their second album Both Ways Open Jaws and is called Too Insistent.
Favorite songs: On my shoulders, Too Insistent, Sparks, Despair Hangover & Ecstasy, Opposite Ways, Anita No!, Nature Will Remain.
Izia
Izia is a singer but also an actress, you may know her from La Belle Saison, Samba, or Un peuple et son roi. I listened a lot to her third album La vague, that was released in 2015. it’s much more electro that what she used to do before. Her two first albums were much more rock albums. She’s got a new album out but i haven’t listen to it yet.
Favorite songs: Hey, La vague, You, Les ennuis, Bridges, Tomber
Mansfield.YTA
The band is composed of 2 women, Julia Lanoë et Carla Pallone. Julia is in other bands/ projects such as Sexy Sushi and Kompromat. Unlike those two last bands that are very electro, Mansfield is something more nuanced. It sounds more like indie folk and mixes different style. You can hear electric instruments but also violin, harmonium, piano etc. And it’s pretty melodramatic. They sing in french and english.
Favorite songs: Et demain déja, Pour oublier je dors, Mon amoureuse, Gilbert De Clerc
Electro :
Stromae
You might have heard of that Belgian guy. His album Racine Carré (released in 2013) is too me the best of the decade and his song “Papaoutai” was a huge hit in Europe. He’s a pure genius. His lyrics are super deep and usually quite dark but he makes incredible beats that are very electro. If his second album is definitely his most popular album, his first one Cheese, was also so so great and his first single “Alors on Danse” was a huge hit (Kanye West did a remix of it). He also directed Billie Eilish’s “Hostage” music video. That dude is just incredible. But after his huge success his did a burn out and his mental health got very bad. He stopped making music since then.
Favorite songs: Peace or Violence, Alors on danse, Dodo, Je Cours, House’llelujah, papaoutai, bâtard, ave cesaria, tous les mêmes, formidable humain à l’eau, sommeil
Rap :
I have to say i’ve been listening to a lot of french rap this past couple of years so i won’t list all the rappers i listen to, especially since i’m pretty sure most of you aren’t interested in rap. But I still have to list some of them that have been very popular recently. France has a huge and very diverse rap culture.
Fauve
Actually that collective is actually not a rap band at all. They do more like spoken word songs but didn’t where also to put them lol. The band broke up 5 years but I still listen to them a lot today. It’s one of my fav band too. Their lyrics are really well written and beautiful. It usually talks about the “youth malaise” and their frustrations, heartbreaks and anger etc. They made 1 EP et 2 LP.
Favorite songs: Blizzard, Cock Music Smart Music, Nuits Fauves, Haut les Coeurs, Rub a Dub, Voyous, Infirmière, Vieux frères, Lettre à Zoé, Paraffine, Tallulah, T.R.W, Les Hautes Lumières
Meryl
Meryl is a 24 year old french martinican rapper. Before making her own music she used to write and compose melodies for other famous french rappers. She’s very influenced by her roots and and she also sings some of her songs in creole. I love how different and diverse her music is.
Favorite songs: Coucou, AH LALA, Béni, Désolé, La brume
Aloïse Sauvage
Aloïse is a multi talented french singer/ actress/ dancer. She released her first EP in 2019 called Jimy and her very first album Dévorantes was released in February 2020. She’s definitely a queer artist (99% sure she’s lesbian but she’s never confirmed it so anyway + her little sister is 100% a lesbian aha) and she talks about lgbtq issues in some of her songs, but also about her own issues and all. Her lyrics are beautifully written. And she’s also a ray of sunshine so there’s nothing to dislike about her haha.
Favorite songs: Dévorantes, Si on s’aime, A l’horizontale, Et cette tristesse, Jimy, Présentement, L’orage
Roméo Elvis
Roméo isn’t french but belgian. He’s the big brother of Angèle. I actually knew about her because of him. He’s less known than her now obviously but he’s still quite popular. His rap is pretty soft and chill. I preferred his collaborations with Le Motel (who was his producer) more than his “solo” album but he still got some good songs on his last album.
Favorite songs: Morale, Nappeux, Drôle de question, Bébé aime la drogue, J’ai vu (feat. Angèle), Lenita, Chocolat, Normal, Dis-moi
Lomepal
Lomepal is a french rapper. He’s known for writing songs that are pretty elaborated with chill and melodic beats. I also call is rap “soft”. He usually talks about his loneliness and insecurities
Favorite songs: 70, Yeux disent, Club, Trop beaux, 1000°C, X-Men, Plus de larmes
PNL
PNL is the most popular cloud rap band of the past few of years. They’re two brothers NOS and Ademo and they’re famous for using vocoder when they rap. Like a lot of vocoder lol. But they’re also very known for working with some of the best beat makers in the industry. If the way they rap is sometimes pretty hard, their beats are very chill and cool. In their songs they talk a lot of their life as dealers in the french banlieue, their struggles, how tough their lives were but also how their lives today isn’t set and how they’re not necessarily happier today. Their third album “Dans la légende” was a huuuuge hit in France, and their latest album “Deux frères” just as much if not more.
Favorite songs: Recherche du bonheur, DA, Dans la légende, Luz de Luna, Humain, Bené, Jusqu’au dernier gramme, Blanka, A l’ammoniaque, Shenmue, Menace, Déconnecté, La misère est si belle
Other songs that I listen to at the moment :
“Le temps est bon” - Bon Entendeur (electro)
“De mon âme à ton âme” - Kompromat (electro)
“Reste” - Maitre Gims feat Sting (pop)
“Les méchants” - Heuss l’enfoiré (rap)
“C’est plus l’heure” - Franglish feat Dadju, Vegeta (r&b)
“De l’autre côté”- Ninho feat Nekfeu (rap)
“Blanche” - Maes (rap)
“La complainte du soleil” - Laura Cahen (from I Lost My Body OST)
Some french speaking “classic” songs that I listen to and that you probably don’t know (from the 50′s to 00′s) :
“Une valse à mille temps” - Jacques Brel
“La foule” - Edith Piaf
“Chanson pour l’auvergnat” - Georges Brassens
“Je t’aimais, je t’aime et je t’aimerai” - Francis Cabrel
“Ma préférence” - Julien Clerc
“La nuit je mens” - Alain Bashung
“Foule sentimentale” - Alain Souchon
“Mistral gagnant” - Renaud
“Sensualité” - Axelle Red
“Manhattan Kaboul” - Renaud feat. Axelle Red
“Onde sensuelle” - M
“Et dans 150 ans” - Raphaël
“A la faveur de l’automne” - Tété
“L’aventurier” - Indochine
French LGBTQ+ artists
This past few years a few lgbtq artists have blown up here and like 4 lesbian artists have been nominated for best new artist this year at the french grammy award called Victoire de la musique (and one of them one the award, Pomme). Unfortunately i’m not very good at discovering new artists so i’m quite late and i haven’t been able to listen to a lot of them. But if you want to discover them yourself here are few lgbtq artists:
Already mentioned: Angèle, Pomme, Julia Lanoë/ Rebekka Warrior (Sexy Sushi, Kompromat, Mansfield.YTA), Christine and the Queens, Aloïse Sauvage
More : Hoshi, Suzane, Eddy de Pretto, Safia Nolin (she’s from Quebec)
#this is a big ass post i'm so sorry omg#but you should have enough artists to discover for the next 45 days lmao#be aware : some songs on here are very bad lmao#but i love listening to bad music sometimes#aimee listens to music#up the baguette#french music#music#music masterpost

Diabolik Lovers GRAND EDITION for Switch ;; More, Blood ー Reiji Dark [Epilogue]
Monologue
ーー Is there a point in doing this?
When asked said question, I can only reply with
‘I have no answer.’
This dance party is nothing but a manisfestation of all ridiculous things
in this world, put together in one.
Everything is a lie, yet everything is reality.
Exactly. In short, in this world deceit and truth,
exist as two sides of the same coin.
That might sound like a contradiction,
but it is in fact the case.
If you fail to comprehend this,
you shal lose your composure, and resort to displaying
shameful behavior, I suppose.
Those who have witnessed the truth of this world,
should have realized this long ago,
or so I thought.
ー The scene starts with a flashback at the ballroom
Reiji: ( Ridiculous...A birthday party? Why are we holding this farce...? )
( A birthday is nothing but the start of a tragedy...Especially, to Vampires such as ourselves... )
♫♫♫♫
Female aristocrat B: ...Wonderful...Shuu-sama...~
Female aristocrat C: What a stunning melody...
Female aristocrat B: Somehow it’s so very touching...It is making me emotional... (1)
Reiji: ( ...So what exactly is so beautiful about that tune...? I can’t comprehend in the slightest. )
Beatrix: Reiji.
Reiji: ...Mother. Is something the matter?
Beatrix: I heard you were gifted something wonderful by your Father?
Reiji: Aah...Although it does not compare to the violin given to Shuu.
Beatrix: Fufu. Please don’t sulk like that.
Reiji: Sulk?
Beatrix: Shuu was born before you, making him the eldest son of the family after all.
Reiji: ( Gee. (2) Is she implying I’m sulking because I did not receive as nice of a gift as Shuu did? )
I am already aware of that. Well then, mother, if you’d excuse me now.
Beatrix: Oh dear. Are you leaving so soon?
Reiji: The star of the party being here is plenty, right? ...Well then.
ー Reiji steps away
Beatrix: Reiji...
ー The scene shifts to the balcony
Reiji: Haah, good grief...I might be able to act in a way which is fit for the occasion, I just can’t bring myself to like this sort of thing.
Why does Father insist on continuing to play pretend and hold these human-like events...?
Someone of Father’s caliber...Why...?
*Cling*
Reiji: A watch which counts down the remaining time in this world, huh...? Why did Father decide to gift me such a thing...?
( Father’s decisions always puzzle me. Although I am certain he is always thinking several steps ahead... )
( Yet, I fail to understand him. Am I just too shallow-minded? Or perhaps...? )
( The Great Vampire gazed too long into the abyss (3)...and became an ordinary person, or something...? )
I simply cannot feel joy from someone with the potential to become extranordinary...choosing to lower himself to the level of a commoner...
( Who cares about this family or inheriting the throne. You have to dream big...Fulfilling all ambitions and desires. )
( It would be such an easy feat...So Father’s decision to refrain from doing so seems incredibly foolish to me... )
*Cling*
*Tick tick*
♫♫♫♫
Reiji: ...Oh dear...Is that guy still playing the violin?
( Not thinking is very sly way of living since it allows you to burn a blind eye to everything... )
( Simply laying the blame on someone else... )
...This melody makes me want to gag.
ー The flashback ends
Yui: Haah...In the end, I can’t sleep even after returning to the manor.
As to be expected, my mind feels foggy...
ー She gazes up at the moon
Reiji: Tonight’s moon is remarkable, don’t you think? So very big...It makes me tingle with excitement.
Yui: Reiji-san.
Reiji: Are you not resting? You look rather exhausted.
Yui: I just can’t seem to fall asleep...How about you?
Reiji: Me neither. I was...recalling several things from the past.
Yui: The past? Now that’s new.
Reiji: Hmph. Coming here, I finally realized that this moon must be to blame.
Yui: Reiji-san?
Reiji: Whether we want it or not, Vampires are extremely sensitive to the moon, you see.
We are different from you foolish, lowly animals. (4)
Yui: Animals, you say...?
Reiji: Ah, my apologies. I suppose beasts are actually more sensitive to these kind of natural phenomena, are they not?
In that case, I suppose we can conclude that you humans are below animals in that regard.
Yui: Haah...
Reiji: Fufu...A sigh, huh?
Yui: ...Just like you said, it is true that animals and insects are more in touch with nature...
Reiji: Hmph. So you admit it.
Well, to prove my point, you did not seen to sense anything about the people we met this afternoon...
Yui: Eh?
Reiji: For Vampires, did you not feel like something was slightly off about them?
Yui: When you mention it...They did seem somewhat odd.
Their aura seemed different from the people living in this house...
Reiji: I finally realized after getting the chance to talk to them for a while but...I am almost certain that they are former humans.
Yui: Eh!? Human!?
( I have heard about humans slowly turning into Vampires as a side effect of having their blood sucked by one... )
...Is that the ‘awakening’ you told me about before?
Reiji: I wonder? However, I believe those people became Vampires all at the same time.
Usually, an awakening proceeds progressively, with the moment of completion happening very suddenly, which makes it very difficult to pinpoint exactly.
Yui: In that case...
Reiji: Most likely, someone intentionally turned them into Vampires...
On top of that, all four simultaneously, get it?
Yui: ...Who would do such a thing?
Reiji: Hm...It has been rather tricky to deduct the answer to said question.
Although I am certain it has to be a Vampire who holds a certain amount of power...
*Cling*
Yui: Reiji-san...?
( He’s looking at a pocket watch, that’s a sight you don’t see very often... )
Reiji: ーー Well, either way...The fact we found something which can serve as a clue is something worth rejoicing over.
Now, your hand, please.
Yui: Eh?
ー Music starts playing in the background
Reiji: Please do not make me wait. It’s a wonderful night...Somehow I’m in the mood to dance.
Yui: Y-Yes...
Reiji: Exactly...You are doing great.
Yui: ...What happened? Reiji-san...
Reiji: The fact I’m dancing like this?
Yui: That is part of it as well but...You seem rather cheerful.
Reiji: Hmph. Of course I am?
Yui: ...?
Reiji: You see, Vampires are creatures who live in boredom by default.
Yui: ...
Reiji: Amidst all of that, those guys suddenly showed themselves...This feeling that something might be about to happen...Fufu...
Yui: I-I think it would be better if this all passes peacefully though...
Reiji: I am sure hypocrites such as yourself are the only ones who would feel that way.
It is only normal for all living things to fight amongst, devour or even bring ruin upon one another.
Yui: ...I simply don’t understand...
Reiji: I would assume so. Which is why you only ever get devoured.
Yui: ...
Reiji: Oh well. In that regard, you could say that the existence of someone such as yourself...is exactly what gives us a thrill.
Yui: Is that so...?
Reiji: Don’t you think it is only natural for us to get excited if after days and days of boredom, a delicious feast suddenly comes waltzing in?
Yui: Feast...Are you referring to me?
Reiji: Oh? You will admit it yourself?
Yui: Yes...I keep on being told I’m a prey after all...
Even if I were to deny it, I still would not be able to fight back against you and the others...
Reiji: Makes sense. There is an overwhelming difference in power after all.
Yui: That’s a given but, mentally as well...I simply can’t stay that strong.
Reiji: However, if you do not like being overpowered by the strong...You have no other choice but to become stronger yourself, don’t you think?
If there’s a logic of the weak, there is a logic of the strong as well.
It is simply unthinkable that all living beings in this world live by the same logic.
After all, someone such as yourself who can find satisfaction with being devoured, looks very silly from my point of view.
Yui: That’s...
Reiji: It seems like you are not aware of this yet yourself, but there are also those who fail to awaken as a Vampire and drop to the lowest pits of hell (5) instead.
Yui: ...Is that so?
Reiji: Fufu...A little late but have you perhaps become scared?
Oh well, I suppose all you can do is pray that will not happen to you.
Or rather, show me some determination. It is exactly that attitude of yours which grinds my gears.
Always trying to rely on others for something to happen. It is very impudent, you know?
You are gravely mistaken if you believe things will turn out as you wish, without you having to make any sacrifices yourself.
If you do wish to sacrifice anything, you have no other choice but to keep quiet and...continue to have your blood sucked by me.
ー Reiji steps closer
Reiji: See, like this...
ー He bites her
Yui: ...! Reiji-san, sto...
Reiji: ...Nn...
Yui: Kuh...
Reiji: Fufu...Like this, step-by-step, you should just come closer to becoming one of us...
That might be your true path in life after all...
To make up for the overwhelming difference in power...You have no other choice but to awaken.
Yui: ( ...Kuh...At this rate, I’ll...become a Vampire? )
( However, there’s a possibility I can’t even do that... )
( What should I do...? I hate how I’m always so indecisive... )
( While I don’t like being toyed with as they please, part of me still wants to be accepted by them... )
( My feelings, wishes and desires are all mixing together, I just don’t know anymore... )
ーー TO BE CONTINUED ーー
Translation notes
(1) She refers to 胸騒ぎ or ‘mune-sawagi’ here, which means ‘an uneasy feeling’ in your chest.
(2) In current-day Japanese, まいったな or ‘maittana’ is a very casual way to express surprise, or to admit defeat depending on the context. As is the case with many expressions, I assume that in the past, it was actually a very formal and common, which is why Reiji uses it here.
(3) I had to look up this expression as well, but it basically means that you worry too much about the past, or feel burdened by your demons from the past.
(4) The word 畜生 or ‘chikushou’ is most commonly used as a curse word nowadays, meaning something like ‘damn it!’. However, it’s original meaning is ‘beast’ or ‘brute’.
(5) The term 外道 or ‘gedou’ literally means you have ‘strayed away from/been removed from the path’ and originates from Buddhist teachings, where it refers to someone who failed to reach enlightenment.

Extra-Ordinary: My Life as Number Seven
Grace Hargreeves
Grace Hargreeves, our mother. our mother did everything for us. she made us feel loved in a house that didn't allow emotions to grow, made us feel safe in a place full of threats and she made us feel alive in the place that slowly killed all of us.
our mother did everything for us, from making our bed to bandaging our wounds. our mother is very caring, always offering quick hugs and a kiss on our foreheads whenever our father wasn't looking, because i know if our father knew that our mother has been giving us affections our mother will be in a very big trouble. because of this fact, all of us has learnt to treasure every bit of affection that our mother had managed to sneak in, from the cute arrangements of our breakfast food to the tight hugs that she gave whenever anyone of us had managed to see her on the hallway
the kraken was the closest to our mother. the kraken spent almost all of his free times helping our mother with her every task despite our mother telling the kraken that he should've spent his free times playing with all of us. the kraken always listened to our mother and everytime our mother tried to reinforce some rules that we weren't obeying the kraken would threaten us, saying that we should listen to our mother if we didn't want to get stabbed. on nights, our mother had to bid the kraken goodnight the last because the kraken always hogged our mother, pulling every tricks that he had for our mother to give him longer hugs and kiss his forehead twice. our mother would always give the kraken's little request and when our mother noticed that she spent the most time saying goodnight to the kraken they came into a compromise
our mother did a lot of things for the house. she did the cleaning, the cooking and she also helped all of us get ready for the day. until today it still amazes me whenever i think of the fact that she used to do her chores and more in her high heels and not once did she ever lose her balance. our mother is very graceful, her name truly fitting her. our mother always wore her dresses and her high heels that always made the most comforting sound against our floorboards, signalling that she is the one who is checking on all of us and not our father.
our mother is also very smart, she knew a lot of topics and because of this when we were required to learn various topics she started tutoring us. i remember how she would enter our classroom and how a smile would always be placed on her red lips, as if she wont spend the next few hours teaching us even though we don't have the motivation to learn. our mother never got mad at us when we didn't get her lessons quickly and she would always adjust her teaching methods instead of forcing us to learn with the methods that clearly won't work for us.
when the boy ran away, our mother argued with our father and told him that he should call authorities because her son is missing yet no matter how much our mother tried to tell our father to alert people of his missing kid, our father never yielded and i remember how our mother, in the following days, failed to remember that the boy never came back. she used to call the boy for dinners and she used to arrange food for the boy and she only stopped once pogo talked to her. i do not know what they have talked about but after that, our mother stopped calling for the boy
our mother tried to stop the sèance from diving deep into his addiction and there are times where she had managed to coax the sèance into sobriety, a feat that only she had achieved. our mother used to hug the sèance through his withdrawal, never seeming to give up on the sèance despite the fact that everybody else did. our mother always welcomed the sèance with her open arms even when the sèance broke his promise to our mother once again and got high and i think if our mother didn't coddle the sèance maybe he would've eventually stopped using .
our mother taught me how to play violin. we used to spend hours together poring over music sheets and i remember how she would always correct my every mistake and not even once did i feel stupid when she was teaching me. when i got too frustrated with my lessons and i would cry and ask to stop she never told me to stop crying and continue to play, which i know is what my father would've done if he was the one who was teaching me and to this day i am thankful that my mother is patient enough that she never gave up on me.
when the horror got into his accident, our mother and pogo did everything to save him and i remember how our mother pulled us all aside and calmly told us that we deserved to know the truth and told us that the horror has a slim chance of surviving and we should brace ourselves for every possible outcome. i felt thankful for our mother for telling us the truth instead of lying about the horror's condition and making us hope. when the horror died, our mother was the one who had tried to revive him and i remember how our mother tried to process that one of her child died again and i remember how the kraken hugged our mother, seeking for comfort.
our mother couldn't arrange the horror's funeral because she had to console everybody and try to make the sèance sober for the horror's funeral, and sadly no matter how hard my mother tried she hadn't managed to be successful that time. our mother stood on the side when our father turned his eulogy for the horror into another lecture for everybody. and i remember on how she had to usher us inside after we are left alone on our courtyard, all of us receiving a hug from our mother and yet somehow that hug didn't manage to bring warmth into my soul
when the sèance ran away i heard my mother saying that she wish that the sèance would be safe our there. weeks later our mother took one look at the horror's statue and went back into our home, a clear sign of her hate towards the monument that our father built. when i packed my bags and went to our mother to bid my farewell i remember our mother telling me to stay safe and to never return because she fears if i return our father may not let me our of the mansion ever again. i hoped i could've ran away with our mother and lived a normal life with her finally being free from our father but sadly we couldn't because spaceboy stayed and our mother refused to leave him no matter how much the kraken and i begged her to leave.
i have never seen my mother again and her last memory that i have of her was her trying to keep my safe. i wish i can see my mother again, and everyday i hope that she stayed well so that we can meet once more. our mother did everything for us, loved us so badly and it is a shame that she can only do so much to protect us from our father.

Jorja Smith has unveiled a standout new video for latest track ‘By Any Means’. The powerful video (directed by Otis Dominique and Ellington Hammond) shines a spotlight on communities across the UK, complimenting the track’s vital message around social issues and the civil rights movement. As noted by Jorja about the track: "The inspiration behind 'By Any Means' really came from going to the Black Lives Matter protest and leaving thinking, what can I do to keep this conversation going? It’s not just a post on social media, it's life.” ‘By Any Means’ is the first track to be unveiled from a new project titled ‘Reprise’, curated by the team at Roc Nation with the sole aim of bringing awareness to social justice issues. A portion of proceeds will go to funding organisations that support victims of police brutality, hate crimes, and other violations of civil rights. [via Dork]

Madison, WI-bred and Chicago-based band Slow Pulp recently announced Moveys, their self-produced debut album, and shared its first single 'Idaho.' Now the band shares another song off of the forthcoming record, entitled 'Falling Apart.' The track, featuring Alex G collaborator Molly Gemer on violin, is accompanied by a fantastical music video about feeling lost in a familiar landscape. Director Jake Lazovick, places Emily in a transient world, surrounded by flying objects and missing pieces. The clip features nostalgic animations, body doubles for social distancing purposes, and an homage to Massey's background as a ballet dancer. Read more about the song from Massey below: "As we were finishing up writing the album my parents got into a serious car accident and I came back home to help take care of them. A couple of weeks later COVID-19 started getting worse in the US, and quarantine began. Life felt completely surreal, everything had drastically changed and at such a rapid pace. It was especially strange because everyone was experiencing the same thing at the same time, but couldn’t be physically with each other to support each other. I felt like I couldn’t process any emotions I had about the whole ordeal because I had to keep it together to take care of my family. It became easier to stay numb, and create a facade that I was doing ok, than it was to release any type of healthy emotion for a long time. Luckily I did allow myself to have a full on breakdown induced by a stubbed toe and confusion over taxes, sometimes it’s the littlest things that finally get you."

Soap Detox met a party, and somehow their friendship sustained during the lengthy hangover that followed. A frisky Swedish three-piece with a lust for melody and good times, their raucous garage-pop is already making waves in their homeland. A full EP is incoming, with Soap Detox trailing this with their irresistible new single 'Give Me Gore'. A three minute fuzz pop wonder, it's a clanking, cheeky, subversive statement from a group who thrive on such things. The video features their shorn-headed lead singer in full form, accompanied by her band mates. Directed by Evelyn Del Carmen and Ebba Sylvan, you can check it out above. [via Clash]

It’s been a decade since we’ve heard from multi-hyphenate musician and producer The Angel, who last made a splash as a musician in 2009 with her single 'Ultra Light,' which featured the singer/producer Jhelisa on vocals. Focusing more on her career in film/TV composition and music production in recent years, she’s planning to return to recording her own music later this year with a new LP entitled Xtra Sensory Goodness. Now we’re getting the first taste of this project, which is yet another collaboration with the vocalist Jhelisa. “Jhelisa and I have become close friends over the years,” she explains. “There’s a lot of sisterly love and mutual respect between us, so Jhelisa already understood the mournful weight of the track before I asked to feature her. I’m always grateful that she’s willing to experiment with me because it’s not something she does lightly. Jhelisa beautifully channels the essence of whatever emotion needs to come through in the most evocative and visceral way.” The song arrives beautifully packaged with an entrancing video directed by none other than Mark Pellington (along with co-directors Sergio Pinheiro and Sweeten), known for his concert docs for Pearl Jam, INXS, and The Flaming Lips, as well as an extensive music-videography including iconic visuals for Public Enemy, Nine Inch Nails, and plenty more artists. “I wanted the song to sound like a memory, like you’ve entered someone else’s dream space,” The Angel continues, noting how the video perfectly syncs to the song’s mood. “The emotion is contained, very internal, so I juxtaposed a vocal vulnerability against a driving, incessant rhythm, where you can feel the underlying tension at the same time as experiencing the gentle plea, ‘Where’s my shelter…?’” [via Flood]

A few weeks ago, Ciara gave birth to her son Win. Last night, she shared a video that she evidently recorded while she was very, very pregnant. Ciara’s new song 'Rooted' is a statement of Black pride, a clear statement of solidarity with the protest movement that’s swept across America and the rest of the world these past few months. It’s a hard, kinetic track with vocals from the songwriter Esther Dean. But the song, at least right now, feels more like a vehicle for the video. Like a lot of Ciara videos, the 'Rooted' clip is built around bodies dancing. In this one, though, one of those bodies belongs to Ciara, who dances with her belly exposed and who looks like she’s about to give birth any second. To watch someone dance this hard while that pregnant is an actual marvel, a near-superhuman feat. The 'Rooted' video is full of Black iconography, and it features the faces of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. All throughout, Ciara presents an image of motherly strength. Annie Bercy directs. Hazel English releases the new video for her single ‘Five And Dime’ taken from her debut album Wake UP! which is out now on Marathon Artists. ‘Five and Dime’ is a woozy, idyllic view into Hazel’s world, which is built on timeless-sounding melodies, retro-tinged soundscapes and a knack for resonant lyrics. The mid-tempo number is reminiscent of the playful love songs of ’60s pop, as Hazel frustratedly muses on a love interest who is consuming her thoughts and detracting from her focus, “Gotta get away cause you’re taking up all of my time / You know I need my space so I’m heading to the Five and Dime.” Speaking about the new video, Hazel says: “'Five and Dime' is about longing for escape and freedom so I thought it would be fun to create an idyllic beach vacation, constructed from a set with cardboard cut out waves and fake palm trees. The idea behind it is that while I'm fantasizing about escaping to a tropical place, it's clear I'm just kind of stuck in this pretend version of it. I wanted to evoke the nostalgia of Hollywood musicals from the '50s and '60s, complete with dance choreography and bright colourful costumes.”

Katy Perry has released her second video for 'Smile,' featuring the pop star playing a video game version of herself as she battles giant spiders, circus trapeze acts and more while dressed as a clown. Global superstar, Miley Cyrus has unveiled 'Midnight Sky,' a track that showcases a new direction for the always evolving artist. The song, which was inspired by the past year of her life, is accompanied by a video that Miley self-directed. In creating the song and video, Miley drew from strong female musical icons, like Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, and Debbie Harry, who have always been so generous, and have been her greatest allies and inspiration. The video showcases Miley as her true self: unapologetic, diverse, sexy, confident, experimental, and strong. The video takes viewers through Miley’s creative vision which displays her complete control of the narrative often told through the mouths of the media. Miley is at peace with who she is and has nothing to prove. As a musician she continues to push boundaries and experiment with her sound and look. Miley has proven to be many things, but boring is not one of them.

Chelsea Collins is nonconformist pop singer with a vision. For the captivating new 'Water Run Dry,' a collaboration with rapper, singer and fellow Bay Area-native 24kGoldn, Collins's infectious pop melodies glide over a hypnotic beat. Relatable lyrics about a faltering relationship reveal a depth of experience for the 21-year-old, with a wistful chorus lamenting, "there's no good in goodbye." The Roxana Baldovin-directed visuals for the track are an eyeful — Collins and 24kGoldn play house in an oversized, colorful California dollhouse, interspersed with images of a little girl playing with literal Barbies. The message? "I wanted this song and video to execute the world that's inside of my head — somewhat similar to a weird vintage rom com where at first the drama of love is so toxic, passionate and thrilling but eventually my lover and I have a happy ending," Collins tells NYLON. "Unfortunately reality isn't as fun and it kinda feels like some cranky dude is controlling your path, who's lowkey salty whenever something feels too amazing," she continues. "My intuition will tell me to run, but I'm notorious for acting like a Stepford wife, trying to recreate my past feelings yet they're all super robotic. Maybe one day I'll get lucky and love won't have to be so bittersweet, but until then I'll learn to smile even when things blow up in my face." [via NYLON]

Kali Uchis shared the visuals for her latest single 'Aquí Yo Mando' on Monday. Featuring a verse in Spanglish by Rico Nasty, the single is Kali's first release since her TO FEEL ALIVE EP from earlier this year. The Phillipa Price-directed clip finds the pair on a weapons-filled rampage, dropping bodies in underground parking lots and filming each other along the way. With co-production by reggaeton hitmaker Tainy, the booming track sees Uchis assertively laying some ground rules over trappy 808s. "Haces todo lo que diga (You do everything that I say)," she raps. “Si estás conmigo solo mando yo (If you’re with me, only I call the shots).” [via The FADER]
