For me, the best way to come up with an interesting Beauty and Beast retelling is to focus on the character dynamic between the main couple, especially if it's one you don't often see in retellings of this fairy tale, and especially if it gives Beauty traits that are often given to Beast, and vice versa.

Some of the dynamics I've found interesting are:

Beast is cheerful and talkative and Beauty is serious and introverted and cranky and can't stand him.

Beauty is a feral gremlin street urchin, and Beast is an extremely refined upper-crust gentleman who is worried that his curse might have to be broken by a woman who eats with her hands.

Beauty would marry Beast in a heartbeat just for his money, but Beast can't bring himself to propose to someone so disgustingly mercenary.

Beast is afraid of Beauty (while she doesn't fear him at all) because he thinks she's somehow in league with the enchantress who cursed him.

Thinking about de-aged Bruce via magical shenanigans being a bit of a menace. He will bite you if given the chance, and will draw blood. Slippery as an eel to catch. Don't even think you can corner him in his own home, he knows every single secret room and deep tunnel in the manor. Your eyes are scratch-able to him. Try telling he's the future and he's demanding you tell him who killed his parents. Can't tell him? Alright then, you're lying. He would've found out by now if this really the future.

yes they are both boys and therefore boyfriends. but also based on the society in which he lives i don’t think naruto would have a real understanding of being gay besides “some boys look like girls. and i like sasuke so much that it makes everyone uncomfortable”.

i think he would probably initially try to cast sasuke in the role of “my girlfriend” despite also finding sasuke very traditionally masculine in many ways. and i don’t think sasuke would especially mind because sasuke does not care about gender or what people think of him

I hc that Westalis and Ostania speak different dialects or mutually intelligible different languages, and my feeling is that post reveal Yor would love it when Loid slips up to his native Westalis dialect so he starts doing it on purpose. I'd imagine at first Loid would be apologetic (and maybe even be like "No I'm getting too comfortable >:(" if this is pre Twiyor getting together as a real couple), but Yor is like. Totally obsessed with it. I'd like to think that to her it is just another a piece of him she wants to learn about and love. It's this precious thing she has the privilege of hearing...

If it's an entirely different language I would also love for Yor to work to learn it so she can communicate with him in a way that's more natural for him...which is so like. special to me because Loid has had to change to fit in with everyone around him all the time and. I feel like that would be so surreal to him...someone working to do something to connect to him, the real him, instead of him working to be what people want...

tonight has been such a great show of how the fans see c!Dream. the language surrounding him is dehumanizing, in the story, he is the book, he is kept in a vault, he is a monster - c!Q and c!Sam are seconds from calling him it, and the fandom reflects so many of these views. he is not a person with feelings, he is a monster, a predator stalking its prey, an obssessed beast. not human, never human with his very own motivations and goals and dreams who plans for something more. he never wans things for a reason that could not be seen as selfish desire, he is evil personified.

but the moment the language around him, by others in the story, the people who hold power over him reflect the lack of humanity that he should be granted, suddenly it is impossible to strip him of this human side. no, he cannot be in a vault, vault is for objects (like the revive book that everyone sees him as).

he is granted only as much humanity as people think he deserves to be punished further
