this isn't a vastlakukkel and I'm even counting the vastlacroissant to be more of a vastlakukkel than this.

last year these were 13 euro and gave me a chemical burn. They have actually changed the recipe so that they're actually edible without 2 hours of numb mouth and car exhaust aftertaste. They'll still set you back 10 euro for the pair.

As they're one of the very few vegan + gluten free things in existence, it feels unfair to compare them to anything else, but actually the jam is good? the cream is good? the bun is soft and fluffy and bready in the best way possible??? Shocking. They're also only 3% sugar so you know they're full of artificial/alternative sweeteners, and you know what? Might as well.

You know what? These are good. Like I do want to dislike them because they're not uber fancy and not uber expensive and they haven't done anything special and they aren't hand made and they don't have any cool raw hand-picked, grandma-made jam, but they're aggressively satisfying.

The bun is soft and good and stays soft the next day. (Rumors say that vastlakukkel actually lasts 2 days in a fridge but I don't think that's realistic. Couldn't be me.) The cream is sweet and on the thick side (but not too fatty/heavy), the jam is clearly one of those ultraprocessed ones that you'd buy in a 10kg vat, but. It. Just. Works. And I don't mean "it just works" like Skyrim does. I mean it actually all works and it completely fulfills the purpose of being a good vastlakukkel.

I can't believe i'm saying it but 9/10?

As a finnswede, I like the concept of the Mandoa the clones are speaking evolving in the same way. The pronounciation gets a little different. Sometimes there just aren't words specific enough for the clones' needs so they come up with a new one. Sometimes they just literally translate words from basic to Mandoa word for word. It is eligible to rest of the Mandos but just words they haven't used before. Sometimes a words meaning gets a little mixed up and now the clones call a bread roll with the same word Mandos use for a sweet roll.
