Noelle's birthday was yesterday so I added an extra bit to her birthday post here!

Atalanta checks in at the business for a few hours then heads right back to the apartment to retrieve you. Obviously, the Montclair businesses are very profitable at Christmastime, so she's been appearing at work every day, even weekends, much to your disgruntlement. But she promises, uninterrupted family time from Christmas until her birthday. It's finally Christmas Eve, time to leave the busy city for the stately Montclair estate in the countryside.

Asteria and Jamie are overjoyed to see their children. You and Ata are met with hugs and kisses and love. Jamie's been baking and his gingerbread cake is on the horizon; you even offer to help! After some rest in your rooms, you all gather to eat. The Christmas Eve feast is light, but filling. As tradition, tonight is all about the sweets. The drawing room is set up with cookies, fruits, and hot chocolate, and the family all gathers for some family time. You play games and watch Christmas movies, talking and laughing and enjoying being together. You can feel the love in everyone's eyes as they look at you.

Christmas morning is deliciously lazy. Everyone sleeps in and you wake up in your girlfriend's warm arms, her messy brown hair tickling the back of your neck. No presents end up being opened until late morning. Your presents are meticulously chosen, thoughtful, and expensive, as one would expect from the Montclairs, and you love them. Asteria and Jamie gift you and Ata a luxury cruise, and you thank them profusely in shocked pleasure. You all lie about on couches, drinking hot chocolates and warm cider as you binge-watch movies. At one point, all four of you end up asleep. It's so warm and comfortable and loving, the perfect Christmas, and you love Ata's parents even more.

Vivien spends November/December GRINDING. The flower shop is busier than ever getting shipments in and out, and his own side-hustle is also busy. He spends weekends stirring giant pots of syrups and salves, packaging herbal teas, and distilling pure essential oils. He makes a lot of his extra money with this work, selling over his website and at the farmers market and at the small stand in the corner of the shop, so he really has to work hard to get it all done. He might be a tad bit distant during this time but just because he's so busy and tired.

He stashes away some of the money for a future rainy day, but most of it will be for your presents. Any spare time is spent ordering things online for you. Throughout the year he keeps a note on his phone of things you'd mentioned in passing, and now he's getting as much as he can to spoil you. In the days up until Christmas, he starts work on a big batch of sancocho or whatever else delicious Caribbean food you both decide on. He bakes sweet after sweet, perfecting his recipes for you and giving the others out as gifts.

Christmas morning, you and he open presents while he makes breakfast and hot chocolate. He is perfectly happy to spend the late morning/afternoon with your family, as long as you both visit the old lady who runs the flower shop later in the day. Vivien might as well be her son for all they love each other, and he's been her only Christmas guest since he was 15. After dinner made by Vivien, you both go home and have some more hot chocolate, falling into bed so Vivien can finally sleep off the holiday season.

TGI Tournament

A/N: HAPPY BDAY FABIIII @lovelynim !!! Busy day so a little late, but it's still your birthday hoho. I combined some of your fav pairings into this random fic, hope you enjooooy :3

Summary: Aether launches his first own international Genius Invokation TCG tournament and is surprised when things get a different turn than expected. (Also on AO3)

Genius Invokation TCG wasn't just a game. The more time Aether spent traveling around Teyvat, the more he discovered about it. He had come to the realization that this special card game was actually what connected all nations to each other the most.

Not visions, archons, beliefs, cultures or customs: it was one single card game they all had in common. The rules were the same across all of Teyvat.

Sure one person owned better cards than the other and some players were more invested, skilful and passionate, but in the end, the game was also all about chance.

With this game, a young boy like Timmie could beat the mightiest archon if the odds were in his favor. An everyday farmer could beat the smartest Akademiya scholar if he believed in himself. A beginner, like Aether himself not long ago, could beat someone as obsessed and skilled as Cyno.

He smiled proudly. Aether admired all that, and so thanks to his growing love for the game, the day had officially come: the first 'Traveler's Genius Invokation TCG Tournament', hosted by him, with assistance of Paimon, Diona and Amber, right here in Mondstadt at the Cat's Tail!

They equipped the place with smaller tables to fit in more, and decorated it with flags and decorations from all nations. Because, it wasn't just a Mondstadt event. It was international!

Aether had used his own network to invite various friends, not only from Mondstadt but also from other nations, to play in this international tournament. And he felt so gleeful to have gathered such a nice group of people who valued their friendship and also loved playing the game!

"I can't believe so many came from all over the world!" Paimon squeaked, watching how crowded the Cat's Tail was. Aether was truly surprised too. When he sent the invitation, he didn't expect them to travel all the way to Mondstadt.

"Mondstadt economy is booming thanks to us. Next time we should ask them to pay ー" Aether's reaction to Paimon's sassy comment was blowing into her face, and she whined in response.

"Welcome, everyone! To the first edition of the Traveler's Genius Invokation TCG Tournament, in short, TGI Tournament, " he called out to the crowd. Sadly not everyone could come, but there sure were some surprising faces!

Most surprising were Wriothesley and Alhaitham. How were they able to drop their busy work to come all this way? Glancing at Lyney and Kaveh next to them, grinning triumphantly, he vaguely got a clue...

"We made a tournament chart, you can view it on the board. We will start the first round shortly!" Paimon announced next. The crowd gathered around the board, and excited and also enthusiastic yells could be heard.

And so, after a few more minutes of excited discussions and preparations, the tournament started, with quite the interesting first round, which resulted in even more interesting winners, and various words were exchanged.

"Eula, did you let Mika win on purpose?"

"I did no such thing."

"Hey.. Is it me or did Mondstadt get owned pretty hard?"

"Maybe a little."

"Guys, do you know why no ladies are left in the next round? Because after all, it's a tourna-MEN-t."

"Cyno!!!!"

Aether chuckled to see all the reactions to the first tournament round, and he walked over to Amber and Diona who were busy working on the chart and scores.

"So I guess it's time for round two soon, then?" Aether said, and he glanced at the new pairs.

"Oh. This is interesting," Aether said, seeing the pairs they made especially since Amber and Diona didn't know everyone that well which actually contributed to the fairness. It needed to be completely random.

Diona nodded and misunderstood what Aether meant with interesting: "Ah yes I know. It's bad for Mondstadt we put the only two left on one table. But you see, Bennett said that-"

Amber interrupted Diona and quickly waved her hands. "I-it's just better this way!"

Aether grinned and nodded. Either one of the two, probably Bennett, was too shy to play against people they weren't too familiar with, or they just wanted to play together. Which was fine of course.

Either way, the next line-up was mostly interesting because for some magical reason they happened to put at least 4 couples together, and not many people knew about their relationship, let alone Amber and Diona!

"That must be a coincidence," Paimon whispered the obvious as she looked over Aether's shoulder, and he nodded.

Amused, he watched how the pairs sat at a table together. Bennett and Mika started playing their game quite cheerfully. Kazuha and Xiao were the ultimate combination for a quiet, calculated and intelligent game of cards without many works spoken.

But those other pairs....

"If I win this, you'll have to listen to at least ten of my jokes without running," Cyno said as he rolled the dice.

"You're going to claim such a big prize after just the second round?" was Tighnari's sassy response.

"Finally. I thought you were never going to play against me again after that last massacre~" Childe sang.

Zhongli did not seem amused. "Stop talking. It's your turn."

"Look at us, traveling all this way for me to beat your ass like I can do at home."

"Don't be so confident, jail guy. I have polished my skills since our last game."

Aether gulped to hear this remark from Wriothesley towards Lyney, but then giggled to hear Lyney's new nickname for the confident Duke.

Alhaitham and Kaveh were having a hilarious staring contest, barely looking away from each other as they played card after card.

"I win. I win again. Oh, I win." Alhaitham was clearly winning and liked to rub it in with live commentary.

"If you say it once again I will kick your ass," Kaveh grunted.

"Are those guys close?" Diona asked as she noticed the interesting dynamics, and she cocked her head.

"They... They are all from the same nations," Aether explained with a stiff smile.

"Eep! Did we mess up?" Amber squeaked.

"No that's fine. I like it this way," Aether said, smirking to see more funny situations unfold.

He was just gazing at the quiet game between Kazuha and Xiao when a funny noise could be heard from another table.

"Childe, stop."

Aether stared. What was... "Hmm, why?" Childe said, followed by the same funny sound.

"Dohohon't!" Seeing Childe reach under the table, there was no doubt he was tickling Zhongli's leg.

"Do nohohot distrahahact mehehe!"

"So you admit. This is distracting you."

Aether smirked. How childish. "Chihilde!"

Not many people present seemed to know how rare it was to hear Zhongli's laughter, and as it was getting louder, he could see Venti walk over there. He had been spectating the game between Kazuha and Xiao, but now joined in with teasing Zhongli.

"What's going on here?" he chirped.

"Hehe's c-cheheating!"

"How's this cheating, then? Old man?" Zhongli's laughter increased when Venti tickled his sides, and the concentration and focus that had been very strong in the first round, now crumbled.

"I'll tell them to stop," Diona said, walking over there, but the moment she was gone, Aether heard another laugh. He turned his head and saw the one laughing was... Cyno!

"Huh?" Paimon had been too busy serving drinks to the participants who lost the first round, so she hadn't noticed the funny mess at Zhongli's table. However she came to look the moment Cyno could be heard barking near them.

"Nahaahahari! Don't dohoho thahat! Thihihighn-aahaha!"

"That's right. I'm tickling your thigh."

"Nohohot fuhuhunny!"

"You dare tell me my joke isn't funny?"

Whatever the reason, Tighnari must've been inspired by the tickly mess at the other table. Right at that moment, Aether heard a loud noise. Lyney just banged his head against the table from underneath. Huh?

"WRIAh- nohoho! Don't you dahahare- why ahahare you- gahhh!"

"For a magician, that was petty and embarrassing. You dropped the dice on purpose when they didn't give you the result you wanted. You know I won't let you get away with cheats, kitten."

Aether blushed when he overheard the exchange. These two weren't subtle at all. He watched how Wriothesley tickled Lyney who had crawled under the table to pick up the dice, but Wriothesley was tickling his sides and ribs relentlessly, trapping him under the table and punishing him for his apparent attempt to cheat.

"Why did it turn out like this?" Amber sighed when Diona returned to their side as well.

"They're not stopping," she complained, hehe, poor girl. Only Aether seemed to be amused by the little chaos. Childe had even jumped up and teased and tickled Zhongli with the help of Venti.

Aether noticed Bennett and Mika had stopped playing for a moment and watched the tickly chaos with smiles on their faces.

Kazuha and Xiao were still playing as if nothing was happening.

Ah, he then remembered he hadn't checked on Kaveh and Alhaitham who were tucked away with their table in the corner, surrounded by various Mondstadt people who were watching their game. He could hardly see them, but sounded like they didn't let the others bother them.

A loud cry made him look away from the busy table again to see Wriothesley throw his head back as he laughed loudly.

"Ahahalright! Alrihihight alreheheady! L-lehehet's continuehehe!" he laughed, and Lyney was still under the table but there was no doubt he was tickling Wriothesley's knees and thighs from under there.

"You started it, Wrio. Besides, I wouldn't have dropped the dice if you weren't distracting me on purpose. And then you accuse me of cheating?"

Aether had no idea who was in the right, but he decided to not interrupt them and walked around, ending up at Zhongli's table.

He tapped Venti's shoulder who was still tickling him together with Childe. "Let's not disturb their game," he said. Venti whined.

"Why? We're having fun."

"At least keep it in between them," Aether disagreed, dragging Venti away, but it didn't stop Childe from simply abandoning his own seat and wriggling himself onto Zhongli's lap, just to tickle him uncontrollably. There was no game to speak of anymore, except a tickle game.

Looked like their duel of Genius Invokation TCG was already abandoned.

"Disqualified," Diona said as she stood next to them, but the Harbinger merely responded with a cheerful peace sign.

"Did you hear that Zhongli? We're disqualified."

"Stohohop thihihis instahahant!" Poor Zhongli. Luckily he didn't need to be too embarrassed since by now, the duos not having a silly tickle fight at their table were in the minority.

"Disqualified."

Wriothesley and Lyney were next, but there wasn't much left of their game anyway. Besides the dice, also some cards had fallen off due to the struggle under the table.

"I think they are still trying to play," Amber said, pointing at Cyno and Tighnari. Despite getting tickled, Cyno was playing card after card, and Tighnari was laughing too, so it looked like they were having a tickle fight under the table while playing the game.

"Stop that, or, disqualified," Diona told them. It seemed to work at first, but the moment she left, Aether could see they started again. Hehe, how cute and silly.

At this point everyone was just laughing and messing around. "There goes our tournament!" Amber whined.

"You'll pay for that!" Cyno and Tighnari had now left their table as Cyno chased Tighnari to the other side of the room. Aether saw that their game was totally messed up, cards and dice scattered over the table and floor.

"Disqualified after all," Diona muttered next to him, shaking her head in disappointment. Tighnari fled into the crowd around Alhaitham and Kaveh's table, trying to hide behind the usually cool and aloof Alhaitham, but it didn't stop Cyno from chasing after him, hands formed into claws.

"Guhuhuys hehehelp!"

"I'll get you for ruining our game!" Everyone backed away and squealed and cheered in surprise when Tighnari was thrown over Kaveh and Alhaitham's table, sending cards falling and flying, and Aether covered his own face in defeat.

"Game over," he said, trying to hide his smile while Diona fumed angrily.

"Such bad manners!" she cried. Tighnari was laughing and flailing as he was tickled by Cyno, and Kaveh and Alhaitham merely got up and went to get a drink, giving up without a complaint.

"You must be glad about this. I was winning," Kaveh said proudly. Alhaitham rolled his eyes.

"How can you say that when I was about to obliterate your final card?"

"I had a strategy."

"A strategy for loss, indeed."

Aether finally stood on top of a table in the middle and clapped. "Alright you guys! That's enough!" His voice wasn't loud enough to interrupt the tickle chaos, so Paimon took her megaphone and yelled instead.

"STOOOOOOOP!" All laughter stopped abruptly. Diona also climbed on the table and crossed her arms.

"Is there anyone who is still playing?!" she yelled. Bennett shyly raised a single finger.

"I won..." he said shyly. Mika scratched the back of his head and shrugged.

"Bennett is really lucky today," he said.

"Anyone else?" Amber asked kindly, looking around. Kazuha also raised his hand.

"I won," he announced sweetly. Woah. Aether saw the indifferent look on Xiao's face and giggled. He felt sorry for him. Xiao was the only one who didn't get a proper invitation, but he simply summoned him by calling his name and dragged him into this.

"Sorry," he mouthed in his direction, to apologize for the chaos, and he was pleased to see a gentle nod in response. Xiao didn't seem to blame him for losing control over the tournament.

"Good! Well then," Paimon said, and she pointed towards the board where Diona made the final adjustments. Exactly two people were left for the finale which ended up taking place sooner than planned.

While the final table was prepared for Kazuha and Bennett's duel, Paimon passed by the other duos to scold them.

"I can't believe all of you just turned it into a tickle fight! YOU started it!" she yelled at Childe, poking his chest and making him giggle.

"Sorry not sorry. Maybe next time we can have a tickle tournament instead," he said, probing Zhongli's side playfully.

"Don't give the Traveler ideas," Paimon sighed. Aether was already smirking. Don't, indeed. The idea of a tickle tournament sounded quite interesting.

"Well then! Last round!" Diona and Amber looked exhausted as the final round finally started. This time everyone was gathered around Bennett and Kazuha's table, with some people getting drinks and giggling at the funny turn of events.

Walking around the room to check on everyone and clean up some of the mess, Aether then saw an interesting display, and shuffled closer to watch and listen.

"D-dohohon't! You bohohoth ahaahare-eepp!" To his surprise, Kaveh had cornered Alhaitham in an abandoned spot behind the crowd and was tickling him now.

Alhaitham was also a rare one to witness laughing, so Aether couldn't help but chuckle at the remarkable sight.

"Y-you g-gaahha q-quihihit ihihit! Y-you're suhuhuch a sohohore loseheher!" Despite laughing, Alhaitham didn't seem amused, but Kaveh wouldn't let him go.

"Sore loser, me? I wasn't losing though." Kaveh looked smug, and Alhaitham appeared very flustered to get tickled in public like this. Not that anyone except Aether was noticing them now. And- woah.

He gulped to see Alhaitham lose his cool. He managed to break free from Kaveh's grasp, grabbed his collar and dragged him outside. Oh. Aether had a feeling that they were returning to their hotel room and that Kaveh was going to get a taste of Alhaitham's revenge in private.

"What are you spacing out for? The finale is almost ending! Come, quick!" Paimon suddenly squeaked, making him jump. Aether quickly returned to the table, making his way through the crowd, and was just in time to witness a unique sight.

Bennett won.

"Congratulations," Kazuha said, shaking his hand formally. Before Aether could say anything, Kaeya already dashed forward and lifted Bennett up.

"We have a winner! Woohoo!" Amber and Diona cheered as everyone applauded. Who would have thought. Bennett, the unlucky guy, but lucky today.

Aether nodded proudly and stepped forward. "Bennett! This is for you." He handed him the trophy he had crafted specially for this event, and Bennett took it with sparkling eyes.

Seeing him so happy, Aether thought that the fact that many other pairs ended up getting disqualified, shortening the tournament enormously, might have contributed to Bennett's luck. He absolutely deserved the win.

Seeing the smiles on Diona and Amber's faces, and the proud Mondstadt people, Aether was glad they also weren't too upset that their tournament turned into a little chaos.

"Let's do this again next year!"

Aether nodded proudly. "We will," he said, although he had to admit the thought of a Tickle Tournament was now paving its way into his mind first. He wondered if he could get anyone to participate...

Thinking about Fischl, specifically in reference to The Wizard of Oz

I used to think that that was what she was primarily referencing, but there were some very well-written dissections connecting her more to Norse mythology and stuff

But why don't I just do it anyway? It's just for fun either way

But before I get to Fischl, I want to connect some other relevant characters to Oz as well. Mostly people that are paired with Fischl often: Noelle, Bennett, and Barbara. Unfortunately, no Razor. I don't know where to fit him in, so I figured keeping him out would be more respectful than making him fuckin Toto.

NOELLE as The Scarecrow

The Scarecrow's issue is that he wants to be wise, but he, quite literally, lacks the brains to be so. Of course, the twist is that, even without a brain, he had wisdom all along. I feel like that encapsulates Noelle very well. Her deal is that she wants to be a Knight of Favonius, but she never makes the cut. So she constantly studies and helps others, trying to gain a "brain," if you will. Of course, my reading (/headcanon) is that she was always capable enough to be a Knight, and it was an external issue that stopped her. A bonus point is that, in the book, the Scarecrow is a stand-in for the common farmer, looked down upon for not being "educated," but has the valuable skill of common sense. And I think we can extend that metaphor to low ranking jobs, like maids. You see where I'm going with this.

BENNETT as the Tin Woodsman

The Woodsman, while kind and gentle, desires a heart, so he can feel love. Bennett, because of his bad luck, feels like he drives everyone away, and he is in search of friends and connections. He wants people to like him, and just like the Woodsman, they both always had it from the very beginning.

BARBARA as the Cowardly Lion

This one's a doozy. The Cowardly Lion wishes to have courage like how lions are commonly portrayed. Barbara is of the Gunnhildr clan, (also associated with lions) but she was never able to display the strength necessary to satisfy her mother. So she always felt like she came short of the expectation of what she should have been. But even now, as a Pegg and a pacifist, she has always been worthy. She displays her noble nature through her kindness and compassion for helping others.

FISCHL as Dorothy AND The Wizard of Oz

Fischl is complicated because I feel like she is able to embody both Dorothy and the titular Wizard, Oz. In Oz, Fischl likes to portray herself as the great and powerful Prinzessin, but in reality, she is acting out that role. Now, the book paints Oz out as a conman, the adult who tells lies, but I'd rather not say that's what Fischl is. What she is doing is harmless, and she should be allowed to do it. Where you might put the conman part is in people's reactions to her. Her parents most certainly don't support her Fischl side, feeling like "the lie" has gone on too long. And that brings us to Dorothy, the young girl from Kansas, swept up by a tornado, who just wants to go home. "Home," in Fischl's case, isn't literal (one would sure hope not), but rather a place where she can be herself and be respected for what she chooses to do with her life. The Found Family, mwah 🤌 And the way home had been by her side all along.

Looking at this, I'm wondering how much of this is intentional, because it hasn't escaped me that a tornado was the inciting incident that lead Dorothy to The Land of Oz. And... well... Mondstadt. The place associated with wind. Yeah.

Anyway, not sure if you can connect other characters to the book, but I'll always encourage others to try.

For the headcanon game: How about Yuno?

seeing a headcanon you disagree with and it kinda pisses you off

alright let's talk about The Boys.

Asta:

- that he's dumb or dense or unwise or whatever, I've already made my point clear in this post

- that his feelings for sister lily are genuine, as in romantic, as in he's really in love with her, which... listen he's grown up with lily raising him and he immediately thought of her when he saw a mother with her children so I can only see his feelings as childish crush that was dragged for years because he's stubborn and nobody talked to him properly about it

- now for my favorite NO moment: "Asta Silva" - I don't really care if taking after his wife (noelle)'s surname makes sense, is appropriate, or just sounds nice, black clover is supposed to be a story about the magicless boy who fights against classism and proves himself as a peasant from forsaken realm, SO WHY, all of sudden, we're making him take after a royal's surname which will for sure make nobles and royals accept him for the wrong reasons which will eventually lead him to be known publicly as a royal and has his legend told in what sounds like "here's the story of the magicless peasant who befriends the devil, fights the evil, becomes the wizard king, marries the beautiful royal princess, and becomes a royal prince himself :)"

- LIKE. that's not... it's not what asta's story about, okay? I know in many people's cases they didn't think too hard about it, asta has no surname so he's going to take after noelle's surname, easy as that, but once you think about it more you just realize how much this will screw up with the story's main narrative, so I personally like to give him no surnames "Asta of Hage" since neither licita did and I find a poetic beauty in that (having him & noelle create a new surname such as "silvahage" is an option I like, though)

- imma add this one, but any future headcanon that has asta living with noelle in the silva grounds and not freaking hage is a big no in my book, sometimes being a couple of farmers who are also wizard king and clover princess is sexy and neat and fun, sometimes yuno pass by to babysit their ten or so kids because yuno, too, decides to live in hage because his home is where hage is

Yuno:

- that he's happy in the golden dawn

- that he thinks of the golden dawn as a family

- that he gets any meaningful support in the golden dawn

- . . .yeah, I just don't fuck with most headcanons that include yuno with the golden dawn, something I talked about in a previous post too so I'll link it here for those who are curious, it's a 2022 post tho not everything written represents my thoughts now

- outside of them, all these headcanon that mischaracterizes his relationship with asta by turning their rivalry into something more toxic deserves a place in hell

-Floga's dad is a poet who writes screenplays and books and he is divorced to Floga's mom

I'm writing this post really late because Evan and Noelle are here and we have been having such a nice time hanging out. It's been a really fun evening. I didn't feel amazing at points. But I powered through and emotionally I am in a great place.

I slept. Fine. Last night. I would wake up a few times. Had weird dreams. But I woke up alright.

I got washed and dressed and me and James gathered ourselves to go to the market. And today was going to be a surprisingly stressful and chaotic day.

We all knew there was multiple things happening. Besides the farmers market, there was a clothing sale on the pier, and then later in the day the funk festival was happening.

But everything, very quickly, became a bit of a mess.

When we got there we were confused as to why there was a tent set up in the parking lot. Not with the farmers market. And we found out from Ginny that some people had come by to start setting things up at 630am. What?? The funk festival wasn't supposed to start setting up until noon. But that apparently didn't matter. Because they all started showing up and causing a huge mess.

The organizer started caution taping off huge section of the parking lot. And we are like what are you doing?? Meril had to step in and forced him to take it down, only for him to do it somewhere else. Then dozens of vendors are loading in during our market. Turning out vendors and customers away from the parking lot. They were mad at us and we were like you are hours early!! The organizer also just was the type of person that doesn't take no for an answer and will keep asking until he gets what he wants and it was just. So stressful. I was really glad I wasn't in charge today.

I had my table going, and I had a table with BMI information. And while it wad very busy I was not getting many sales. That was alright. I was getting paid to be there today and I was enjoying talking to people about the museum.

I would also get a ton of knitting done. Which was great because I accidentally left my pick tool at home. James brought me a letter opener and that worked well enough until right before I finished my 6th square and I broke it. Disappointing. But I appreciated them helping me out.

They were very stressed. Vendors had been coming in from the music festival and demanding their money back but the event hadn't paid the museum yet, plus it also wouldn't be out responsibly??? Talk to the event coordinator?

It ended up getting so bad that Paul and Beth had to come in and Jesse had to leave his vacation to come back to town to help. Like the stress was so bad on Meril she cried! That's not fair! She's so strong!!

So it was really bad at times. Thankfully I was able to mainly stay out of it. I was having a good day beyond all the craziness.

Ann would have to leave a little early to go to a baby shower. So I became in charge for the last hour or so. I would have to coordinate moving some cars that parked in loading zones. And smooth out some stress with our vendors. I tried to make some connections and traded out business cards. Honestly I was having a pretty good time. And thankfully my car was not blocked in at all. I was starting to not feel good so I was very happy when everyone else was able to get out and I could leave too.

I went to say goodbye to James. They told me more of the nonsense they had been dealing with. And I was off.

I went to the grocery store and got a few things. Stuck to my list. Spent $25. But I felt like I got a lot for my money. And then I went home.

Not a moment to spin. I was falling apart slowly.

When I got back here I would put my food away. I had queso and guacamole and chips. I sat on the floor of our bedroom and cleaned up my cuticles. And eventually would lay down. I took my medicine early because I was already feeling so bad.

I would fall asleep eventually. But I didn't feel better when I woke up. So I kept resting.

James would get home and would be very frazzled because a car cut them off and caused them to snap their bike chain and really scared them. But they would cool off and calm down.

I would sip water and try to gather myself. Because Evan and Noelle would be here soon!

And then they were here. I was so happy to see them. And show them our house. We finally exchanged Christmas gifts. Only 8 months late. And it was so fun giving them the tour. We would all sit in the backyard and talk and it is always just so comfortable with them. I hate that we barely get to hang out and I really hope we can do it more often because they are just really fun.

James would suggest we go to Mathews. And it was such a good call. I was only able to eat a little bit I have leftovers now so that's good. I was enjoying the company and the conversation but I was struggling. My stomach just hurt so bad and I just desperately wanted to be horizontal. We would get our leftovers packed up, and Grace, the waitress that always is so nice to us, gave us a free cannoli which was so sweet of her.

We drove home and I was right. Almost as soon as I was laying on the couch I started feeling better. It took a while but I would be okay.

We sat down and showed them the slideshow of Africa and told them all about the trip. And it was just laughs and questions and storytelling. I was having a great time.

James has made jello eggs last night so we had those. Evan was like. I remember these?? Why?? And texted his mom and his grandma used to make them for Easter! Just like my mom. It was fun sharing that.

We would open gifts and played with sweetp and it was just a really lovely night. They have to leave in the morning. Busy bees. But I am so greatful that they were able to come even just for the evening.

We stayed up talking until 11. But now we are all winding down. James got the guest bed set up and I'm going to go grab a shower now. Tomorrow should be a nice restful day. I hope it is. And I hope I don't feel so poorly.

Florana (Gardevoir, Quirky nature) (Caught with Premier Ball): Grade-A emotional support Pokémon and professional asskicker. She’s wonderfully smart and has a massive sweet tooth, just like me. Terrific at helping get some income, and has been my best friend since middle school.

Gossamer (Sylveon, Gentle nature) (Caught with Friend Ball): Florana’s partner-in-crime in emotional support and expert at getting into food. Sweetest boy you’ve ever met, and regularly demands cuddles when I’m trying to type

Maples (Sprigatito, Impish nature) (Caught with Nest Ball): The most recent member of the family. Picked him up in Hoenn of all places; some kid had a older Sprigatito couple that produced eggs he couldn’t take care of any more Pokémon. Might as well be a Zorua with how much he plays tricks and helps Gossamer break into the Poképuff jar. Arceus has blessed him with cuteness so as to soften the blow, so it seems.

Splishy (Vaporeon, Docile nature) (Caught with Net Ball): Raised and her brother Gossamer together ever since I caught them both as Eevees in the wild (I ran out of luxury balls, and resorted to using a net ball. Ironic that she evolved into a Vaporeon.) Four-time champion of the Brackish Town Cake-Eating Contest, Snorlax division.

Sammi (Luxio, Hasty nature) (Caught with Poké Ball): Ex-show Pokémon and Sinnoh Cute Ribbon winner, Ultra division. Mostly acts like my feral little beastie and zoomie extraordinaire. Very regularly playing with Maples, and is unofficially his big sister at this point. Had the sharpest cuddles learning curve.

Noggin (Galarian Slowpoke, Naive nature) (Caught with Quick Ball): Was given him at an old computer programming gig, and kept the little goober around because he makes me laugh. He’s also found his niche as a berry farmer (mostly because he likes eating them lmao)

I’m hoping to meet some online friends, because the traveler lifestyle isn’t great for making friends IRL. Currently living in Kalos if anyone wants to hang out or make snacks together around there!

Season Of Love

This is my favorite Christmas romance(not even that Christmas-y) and it is just an entertaining book. We follow Miriam Blum as she learns that her beloved great-aunt Cass died, leaving her as a part owner of Carrigan, her Jewish-run Christmas tree farm. But she has closed off that part of her life a long time ago.

And then there's Noelle, the butch tree farmer, wants Miriam gone even if her ingenuous ideas and sensitive soul prove they is more to her than a selfish person who'd abandon their family. But more importantly they need to save the farm. There's drama and trauma. And a third-act break-up that MAKES SENSE. And the side characters are so much fun (Hannah and Tara even get their own books).

I don't think this book is for everyone but I love it. If you want a Christmas romance (and maybe a series) that not all fluff and sugar give a read.
