Season Of Love
by Helena Greer
5 stars
This is my favorite Christmas romance(not even that Christmas-y) and it is just an entertaining book. We follow Miriam Blum as she learns that her beloved great-aunt Cass died, leaving her as a part owner of Carrigan, her Jewish-run Christmas tree farm. But she has closed off that part of her life a long time ago.
And then there's Noelle, the butch tree farmer, wants Miriam gone even if her ingenuous ideas and sensitive soul prove they is more to her than a selfish person who'd abandon their family. But more importantly they need to save the farm. There's drama and trauma. And a third-act break-up that MAKES SENSE. And the side characters are so much fun (Hannah and Tara even get their own books).
I don't think this book is for everyone but I love it. If you want a Christmas romance (and maybe a series) that not all fluff and sugar give a read.

Bride
by Ali Hazelwood
This was a rollercoaster of feelings. At first I didn't care, I liked the world; I was curious to see how it would progress. I had my doubts about Misery and Lowe relationship though eventually I liked them together (the spicy scenes helped a a lot). Then there was the third act break-up and I despite everything. But the last chapter and epilogue made me fall in love with the story.
If you're curious give it a read; it's not a bad book.

"I’m not flaunting anything. I’m just existing. This is me. I can’t hide myself. I can’t disappear. And even if I could, I don’t fucking want to. I have the same right to be here. I have the same right to exist." - Kacen Callender, Felix Ever After

Felix Ever After & A Scatter Of Light
Both these books are 3-star reads for me. And I've decided to review them together because they have similar themes and I have the same praise and criticism for them.
Brief Summary: Felix Ever After: Felix is going through it, he is struggling with his identity and feels isolated from his classmates and it only gets worse when someone outs him sharing his deadname and pretransition photos. A Scatter Of Light: Aria is forced to spend the summer with her grandmother when explicit photo of her are leaked. But soon she question who she is after meeting Steph.
I could not stand the teenage bullshit but other than that pretty good books. Though I liked how both Felix and Aria used painting to better form their identities
(Felix Ever After actually inspired me to get back into drawing)
I also enjoyed reading about their complex relationship with their mothers.
Really I think I'm growing out of YA.

I'm not keeping "A Scatter Of Light". I tried to reread it but I couldn't keep going. I'm sad I won't have any Malinda Lo books. Then I remember the LIBRARY and it brings a smile to my face.
One of my favorite authors is Malinda Lo. Luckily my local library has a few of her books. I've read Ash, Huntress, Adaptation( they don't have the sequel "Inheritance") and Last Night At The Telegraphic Club. And I own A Scatter of Light though I am considering unhauling it because it is my least favorite only a 5 out of 10.

*panting* I know of a book called “The Pirate and The Porcelain Girl”!
It's a graphic novel that follows an orc-butch pirate captain named Brig and Ferra (the porcelain girl). Now Ferra is not a princess but she is a runaway femme.
I'm so excited to read this book!!!
Butch pirate captain X runaway femme princess
