Rec #45: when the stars came falling - battybatzgirl Fandom: Tangled the Series/Varian and the 7 Kingdoms Rating: T Pairing: Varian/Hugo Word count: 56,062 (9 chapters) Summary (copied from fic): The name is on the tip of Varian's tongue. The syllables press against the back of his teeth, itching to be let out but never taking shape. It's like dust falling softly on a Sunday morning; it's a thousand tons of iron slamming behind his ribs; it's a virus buried in his blood and sinew. He can't explain why he feels so empty without it, like a piece of his soul is missing. He can't help but think he's lost something -- or someone -- very, very important. Or, Varian wakes up in the body of a boy he's never met in a kingdom he's never visited. He learns to adapt to Hugo's strange lifestyle, clumsily navigating a sense of normalcy with no memory of what happened the day before. Until the day he can't. Other notes: apparently it's inspired by Kimi no na Wa (which I don't know and didn't look up bc I didn't want spoilers lol), but all you really need to know is explained in the tags and by reading the story :D

Rec #11: Frea the Huts O' Your Tenant Folk - SiryyGray Fandom: Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure Rating: T Pairings: none Word count: 65,809 (11 chapters) Summary (copied from fic): Things between Varian and Eugene are… tense. They have been for a little while now. Varian says it wasn’t his fault; Eugene knows that it was. And of course the kid just had to insist on joining him to establish foreign trade routes. Because it’s not like that could make the situation worse or anything. Why not throw some life-threatening espionage into the mix too. Sure. Blood, death, and coercion. What’s not to love? Other notes: super fun and high-stakes mystery with the existing tension only revealed in the penultimate chapter. I would highly recommend decoding the ciphers after each chapter to add to the experience!
