If you're an adult...

You are allowed to enjoy fandom

You are allowed to write fanfiction.

You are allowed to collect Funko Pops, stuffed animals, strands of your favorite content creator’s hair etc

You are allowed to have a comfort show, even if it's not popular, or is just video footage you recorded of your favorite creator sleeping without their permission

You are allowed to pursue hobbies, even if you can't monetize them or they’re being blocked by a restraining order

You are allowed to write your own life script, instead of following the one your parole officer gave you after the restraining order

You are allowed to decide you don't want to have children, or don't want to get married, or don’t want to leave your favorite creator’s house until they agree to a canon marriage of your comfort characters

And most importantly, you're allowed to have fun, for example organizing your stolen hair collection by strand length!

People who think that adults should stop being in fandoms act like we arent allowed to like things. Yes I'm 20, I'll be 21 in a few months, and I like anime and MCYT, just like I did when I was 14.

The only difference between 14 year old me and 20 year old me is that I'm allowed to drink in my country and that I have 4 tattoos.

I do find it amusing that people give adults so much flack for being on Tumblr or in a fandom, as if we didn't build the foundations of this hellsite by hand. We've EARNED our place here. Plus like...who said you have to grow out of being a nerd?

I like to define being an adult as being able to CHOOSE to do the fun things, not having to stop when you're a certain age. You don't have to stop drinking Capri Suns once you hit 18. The only difference is, now you get to buy them yourself, so you're no longer limited by the buying habits of your parents or guardians.

(Also who do you think writes most of the best fanfiction? And who do you think writes the YA novels y'all get hooked on in the first place? Oh, and those top-tier cosplayers you idolize at con? ALSO MOSTLY ADULTS!)
