Playing in the Snow
Another little poem. <3
Tumblr media
Transcription:
“A snowball fight is a serious matter,
No time to stop for idle chatter.
I’ll make the ammo, you’ll fire away—”
“Mate, this isn’t work, it’s play.”
“There’s a wintry war here to be won!”
“The girls dragged us out here to have some fun!”
“There are plans to draw, terrain to map,
Charles! That’s the wrong direction!”
WHAP!!

In Another Timeline [a jayvik poem]
Here I kneel on a rooftop
To await the end of the world,
As the static pressure of your presence
Descends.
You touch me–
In another timeline,
We sit together on a rooftop and
You tell me about all the stars,
I hold your shoulders the way
That I mean to
The way I always meant to,
Because in that timeline we kiss
Before we die.
In another timeline,
You tell me of all your pains,
Endless, you tell me,
And I stay with you when the night falls,
when the dawn breaks,
I hold your failing lungs,
I regret nothing,
No absence from your deathbed.
I make your favorite tea,
And you hold my hand,
Oh, just to hold your hand–
In another timeline,
You only ever see me at the bottom of a pit.
Brokenhearted, brokenlegged,
Starving for hallucinations and sanity,
You haunt me as a phantom from my childhood,
From every timeline, it’s you in all timelines,
I flirt with death, pit-eyes; I lay with oblivion.
I crawl my way out and I think
of how little I must have thought of you,
Back before I knew what it was like–
I crawl my way out,
I supplicate at the nexus of your solitude,
And in this other timeline,
you spend every timeline
Finding me.
In another timeline,
Somewhere,
I am not a coward.
You are imperfect as you always were
I love you, as I always did,
And in this timeline, I tell it to you.
But Here,
Here I learned your name standing on the edge.
You pulled me back by the syllables,
Handed me a piece of myself in outstretched palm,
Sowed our own destruction.
A half maligned gear thrown across time and space,
We consume, subsume–
All this, just to hold your face to mine and think
How lucky I am that Here,
We can die as one

I see the hurt in your eyes when I tell you to get lost.
Get lost.
You stare at me with wide eyes.
(Wide eyes, trembling hands, blood on your clothes and mine.)
Why are you still here?
Do you enjoy watching me suffer?
You are supposed to hate me.
Get lost.
(Glaring golden eyes, the glint of your sword in the sun, ink on paper.)
A lifetime ago.
You know who I am, what I have become.
This useless shell of a body, worthless, worthless, a burden.
A waste of time, a parasite, a pest.
(Dogs barking at an orphan in the streets, two figures walking away, a clarity bell tolling in the dark.)
I was the one who should have died.
You are still staring at me, tears pooling in your golden eyes, hand still wrapped around my wrist.
You say my name, a reverent gasp in the stillness, much more than I deserve.
Get lost.
(The sweet scent of spilt wine, moonlight on crossed blades, cool night air streaming through Gusu.)
Get lost, get lost.
Your eyes are so soft, you look so hurt, why won't you go away?
Why are you helping this one, who has only ever caused harm?
Why are you still here, looking at me with your soft eyes, telling me you'd do anything for me?
Get lost, get lost.
(A familiar song, a burning brand against my skin — if it had burned through, would I have died?)
Get lost, get lost, get lost.
Why hurt yourself, when you can leave and turn on me like the others did?
Why stay, when I've done nothing but wrong everyone?
Why are you still here, Lan Zhan?
(Paper butterflies, the laughter of a child, your smile, your golden eyes.)
My name falls from your lips again, a reverent gasp, a word loved too much, a prayer.
I say your name, you look at me with hopeful eyes.
Come back with me, you say, I'll keep you safe.
I yank my bloody wrist from your hand, your face crumbles.
Oh, Lan Zhan.
I turn away with teary eyes, I can never bear to see you cry.
Get lost, get lost, get lost.
Please, get lost.

Buddie Poem #1
Inspired by the run of poetry being written by my lovely @disasterbuck, I decided to try my hand at some verse for the first time in years.
Oh, for a love to set you free  Which casts away the doubts for joy  That you should love him, endlessly  For the love you ache, so impossibly  The heart you longed for as a boy Oh, for a love to set you free   Someone from who you’ll never flee  And trust that he with you won’t toy  That you should love him, endlessly  A man whose soul becomes your key  A bond no crisis can destroy Oh, for a love to set you free   Heartfelt gasps breathe your name; “Eddie…” The night you whispered, “alright, cowboy…”  That you should love him, endlessly  A patient heart carved space for you to see  No longer hidden, lost and coy  Oh, for a love to set you free That you should love him, endlessly

"We saved the world" she said
Voice flat
The dread and heartache of years
Creeping
She sees cities burning
She sees sky roil sickly green
No enemy stands
No ally either
Only dirt and silence
And stoneheart thought
It was set from the start
"We saved the world"
A whisper
Tear born
Fate ripped
All new and always there
And in the end
Alone

Dear Hopeless Romantics of the RWRB Fandom.
My darling friend @taste-thewaste requested RWRB poetry inspired by the "I'll break the sound barrier for you" moment. Please enjoy "Hurry" / "Barrier, Broken" and the bonus combined poem panel! Alt text is available, and the poems will be posted as text below the cut. My friend here hopes for a (free) downloadable collection of RWRB poetry and thinks you might be interested. I could be persuaded into creating one. What do you think?
“Hurry”
Beauty stands in the eye of the beholder,  and I, in the eye of the storm. They warn of the retracting winds, the silence creeping through the streets like Death. I cried for salvation when the quiet came, but today I weep no more. Let me sweep away into the sea, for I know it now — the Hurricane is my love.
“Barrier, Broken”
my name is in the waves that pummel land and never have i been brought to my knees i’m not to be beloved for who i am too fierce to let the world remain at ease but you, my love, you walk among the stills where life cannot risk life nor safe depart oh you, my love, cry fierce where fierceness kills a brazen hope, an undefended heart so all for you, i stand now as i am a hurricane, and with no doubt your man

Cage
"Cage" is a Dreams of an Insomniac original poem, dedicated to/made for the character Winfrey
CW for a mention of death and a lot of mentions of captivity
Day after day, Hour after hour, Moment after moment. You sit. You wait. You think. Much to think about, And yet not much at all.
You think about How long you’ve been here. You have no windows to look out of. No way to see the sun. In here, Night is eternal. But how many nights have you spent Behind these walls?
You think about How much has happened. You have no control over it. No way to do anything about it. In here, You are not the master. How many more nights can you go Taking orders?
You think about The ones you love. You have no way to contact them. No way to see them. In here, You are alone. How many more nights can you endure With nothing breaking the silence But screams?
You want to leave. You want to escape. You want to leave the cage. You want to run free. You want to go home.
But you can’t. That man won’t allow it.
You must do what he says. You must follow his commands. He keeps you fed, So you must keep him alive. A fair trade, in his eyes. Or so you presume.
You don’t know his name. They only call him The Doctor. But his word is law. His word is absolute. You cannot disobey. You cannot run. You cannot leave. You are forced to stay.
So all you can do is wait.
Day after day, Hour after hour, Moment after moment. You sit alone. You wait endlessly. You think nonstop. Much to think about…
… And yet who to share your thoughts with But the corpses of those You are forced to kill?

Ballroom thoughts
Will you be my Belle
For this masqueraded ball
I'll dance away the night with you
Or with none at all
Enchanted by your candy smile
And sharp, observant eyes
Enraptured by your knight's disguise
Your subtle wit and guile
Dressed in lies you tell yourself
With a bright sun shining through
I'll undress you neath the moonlit sky
I've eyes for naught but you
gasp I did not mean to sound so crass
I shouldn't feel like this again
Mortified by my own thoughts
Of such metaphors abstain
Yet I do wish to know you deeper
Help you with old wounds and woes
Protect you from phantasmal foes
I too'll be your soul's keeper
I want to peer into your shell
To see you, to accept you whole
In costume still you shroud your soul
... I'll wait for you, I shall not dwell
So I ask to dance the night with you
'Till the dawn's too early chime
And let me see, in your own time
Your dark side of the moon
(This one's a bit different, in that it's an attempt at fanfiction of sorts. Just what I think might go through Edwin's head if he and Charles had to go to a (masquerade) ball for a case.)

coraweek day 3 ~ identities
corazón would save lives. corazón would save a country. under orders, corazón destroyed towns and killed children, but soon, he'd save lives. it was an investment. rosinante broke by the fourth year. maybe corazón drowned in all that blood. rosinante saved one kid, a sickly thing, with no purpose and a checkered fate. rosinante killed corazón, too, or maybe it was the other way around. law would never remember rosinante, but he'd never forget corazón.

I'm Not a Brave Person
I'm not a brave a person
But I will laugh in the face of danger
I will smile and joke
So as to not let them know their effect
I'm not a brave person
But I will stand in front of others
I will defend everyone
Even if it feels like my heart has dropped through the ground
I'm not a brave person
But I will face the worst of the worst if it means that someday will be better than today
I will scream and fight
With everything that I have even to save just one person
I'm not a brave person
But I will die before telling them that I'm scared

I am forgetting, Would you care for a dance? And remembering, all at once. This piece is my favorite, Innocent memories flash and burn, The one with the lark. Like bones charring. For our anniversary, silly.
I know nothing but this, Please, That a promise must be kept. Everything hurts. Do you hear it too? Remember our promise, Our swan song is playing. I love you.

Putting Up the Decorations
Please enjoy this little poem. <3
I don't have a lot of time to do Christmas stuff this year, but I thought some poetry might be an easy way to participate in all of the festivities. {:
Tumblr media
Transcription:
Up go the stockings of “E” and “C,”
Up go the lights on the Christmas Tree,
Down comes the snow on old London-town,
The skies turn grey, and there’s white on the ground.
Right! There’s the angel up on the bough,
at the top of the tree, looking all around,
Down at the presents wrapped red and green,
Down at the candles, that flicker and gleam.
Over at the lovers in the doorway too,
Under the mistletoe—
SMOOCH!!

I wrote a poem from chuuya's pov!!
(I suck at titling so don't judge this)
O grantors of dark disgrace I feel like I’ve spent my life licking my wounds, ripping open stitches before they get to heal.
Destruction runs through my veins, lifeblood, I unleash it. Maybe one day it’ll kill me. Maybe I don’t care.
You always bring me back from the brink, breathe life back into this body. This trust we have, it’s fickle yet firm, it continues to pulse despite everything.
And you say “humans are hypocrites,” well, then we must be the most humanlike monsters to have ever lived.

Wrote a sad QiJiu poem
Oath of a Broken Brother 11/13/2024
tear trails of green rain pour steam through canopied leaves summer’s low fog lurks
you promise rescue my broken legs can’t follow your flight to freedom
sharp gusts throw dead leaves far from trees where they once grew autumn color fades
knowing you will come I endure through days like stone nights bring whips and chains
beneath frozen earth clumps of nestled fur breathe slow through empty nut shells
do or die limit I strike back to save myself knowing you are lost
black bark yields bright blooms satin petals flush with life stolen from cold earth
dead only to me you flourish on your high peak I return your grief
This is a set of alternating haiku and senryu, 4 of each. The haiku depict the changing of seasons from summer to spring over the course of one year, and the senryu tell the human element of what happened.

Sweet Song
Just a little Wolfstar poem I wrote. Watching Teen Wolf I learned that wolves go for the throat when they kill, adding to my headcannon that Remus is quite protective of his neck, but he trusts Sirius.
The strings of my heart lay in the veins of my neck,
You are so close, I feel your breath
You who could cut, rip, and kill
Choose to play a sweet song instead
