about simon’s social media plotline
instead of deleting it, why didn’t simon just temporarily deactivate his instagram/make a private account?
all season, simon has been trying to find workarounds to his worsening situation when it comes to outside pressures and an increasingly stifling environment. he tries to find ways to still be himself and have some sense of freedom, even with all the criticism and negativity being hurled his way.
he’s hit with a barrage of hate comments everywhere? fine. he’ll reply to some of them, just to make sure that everyone gets a sense of who he really is. but he soon finds that when he does so, he’s only met with even more hatred and people coming for his throat. and wille himself tells him replying will only make things worse, so he should try to refrain from doing so.
okay, then. he might not be able to directly comment and tell the world who he is and how all of this is making him feel, but he can show them. so he uploads the video of him singing, the thing he loves most in the world, and he expresses himself through that original song. but that doesn’t work either, and wille tells that simon shouldn’t be posting those things on social media because they can easily be misinterpreted and cause harmful speculations and media attention. and to make things worse, there’s a whole new barrage of hate comments, this time leaning into more sinister territory.
but simon is not going to give up so easily— even if tons of people online are telling him that he’s a golddigger and pathetic and chasing fame, he knows that those aren’t his intentions. he’s with wille because he loves him, and he’s not looking for fame or wealth out of it. and all simon wants out of life is to make some positive change in the world. so of course he can’t help himself when he adds himself to the post of the picture he took with the younger boy who looks up to him. he’s hopeful and a little giddy about it all, because he is making a change. he is helping and inspiring others. he wants to share that with others.
and then simon goes home to find that an anonymous stranger has thrown a rock through his window, into his house.
simon loves his family dearly. he would do anything for them. and someone he likely doesn’t even know hated him enough to threaten his family’s safety, his mother’s safety, by finding his house and breaking the window with the rock. being harassed on social media and in person by reporters fucking sucks, but in simon’s mind, at least that’s only affecting him. but this? this is too far. this is his family, and they’re unintentional targets now, too. they aren’t even safe in their own home anymore, where they’ve lived in the last fourteen years.
so when jan olof and farima come by and tell simon to delete his social media accounts for his own safety— not temporarily deactivate, not make private, specifically delete— simon does it. because private accounts and deactivations are workarounds, and to simon, workarounds have only made things worse. it’s not just him on the line anymore, it’s his family and safety and his relationship with wille altogether, so he does exactly what the royal court says and deletes his accounts. workarounds just aren’t worth it.
okay, but why is deleting his instagram account such a big deal? he can always make a new one, so why does it matter?
one of the first times that we get a deeper look into who simon is, not coincidentally, through the contents of his instagram account! when wille is lurking on simon’s profile, we get a solid introduction into the key aspects and people in simon’s life. he he has two best friends who he adores, he loves his sister and his mother, and even his bio says “music makes my world go round”.
but looking past that aspect for now, we also get to see who simon is outside of social media and these close relationships: he’s very outspoken, doesn’t let others silence him (even in his very first scene, he sings louder when vincent makes fun of him), is unafraid to call others out on their bullshit and has strong values that he’s quick to share.
but throughout season three, as simon is faced with more and more pressure and cruelty on behalf of the public and royal court, he starts losing himself. he finds that singing isn’t as enjoyable anymore, he becomes quieter and quieter. he initially fights back when he feels that the royal court is being unreasonable, like when he was first told by wille about being careful on social media, but eventually just reaches a point where he stops and just takes it. he ends up going against his own values just for the sake of not fighting with wille during the sit-in, despite clearly being bothered by it. and of course, this isn’t helped by the fact that he’s not on speaking terms with sara again until much later and his relationship with his mom is strained until mid-season, so a integral part of his support system isn’t able to help him until he was a little too deep into all this.
so looking back at the social media aspect, simon deleting his instagram accounts is the nail in the coffin. he publicly displays his unabashed love for his family, friends, and music through his posts, all of which are essential to his sense of self and who he is as a person, and we see him literally delete it all. this drives home the point that simon is deleting himself, and marks one of his lowest points in terms of losing and changing himself to try and fit into a space that will never be made for someone like him. square peg in a circular hole.
so yes, realistically, simon deleting instagram is a sad thing to see, although not necessarily earth-shattering. but metaphorically? it’s everything.
why were there only hate comments? sweden is very progressive in terms of queer rights and social acceptance, so it couldn’t have been that bad.
of course, i can’t speak for lisa and the rest of the team, but i feel that this was an intentional detail. because the truth is, there probably weren’t only hate comments! we even see the initial response after simon posts the clip of him singing, and it’s positive.
but as an overall society, we tend to take criticism harder than we do compliments. you likely don’t remember that one time last week where a stranger complimented your hair or outfit or handwriting, whatever it may be, but you probably do remember the last time someone told you that your efforts weren’t enough. you probably remember the last time you got a bad review or a bad grade on something you tried hard on, or when someone made fun of your interests. and speaking as a teenager, i can confirm that this is a huge thing to us as well— we want to be accepted and complimented, we want to be wanted, and when we aren’t, it feels like it’s the end of the world.
so of course simon would take all those disgusting comments to heart. anyone would, especially when they haven’t had any time to prepare for it. so as more and more hate comments roll in, it’s harder to pay attention to the positivity that may also be there. from simon’s point of view, the hate is everywhere and too much to ignore, so that’s what we get to see. we see criticism and threats and people being mean, because those are the responses and the view that affect simon the most.
tldr; simon deleted his instagram because he felt that using another workaround in deactivation/private acc would be a risk, it’s a big deal because by literally deleting his social media the writers show that simon is deleting himself, and there’s mostly hate comments because through simon’s pov those are the ones that are the most impactful.
#it’s okay to not like the storyline ofc but it’s getting annoying to see people use it against simon over and over again#simon is trying his best in a crappy situation that no one should have to handle in the first place and you’re here coming for his throat??#young royals#simon eriksson#simon young royals#young royals analysis#lisa ambjörn#avi rambles#wilmon#long post#long text post

What made Death become so popular?
If you are a bit of a tumblr nerd like me, you probably have noticed that Puss In Boots: The Last Wish has been trending in 3-1# place the last few days. You probably have also noticed that there is quite a lot of fanart from the one of the main antagonists of the film: ¨Wolf¨ or Death.
But why is this character suddenly is getting so much attention? Why there are tons of people talking about him? Well, here are a few reasons i can think of why:
(Warning! Puss in Boots: The Last Wish spoilers)
First, Death is a antagonist that is terrifying in comparison to antagonists from other animated films. Yes, there has been villains with scary moments in the past. However, i think few can compare to how scary Death is in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
When we first are introduced to him, it is easy to think he is just a powerful bounty hunter who wants Puss’s head. Then, moments later, we see how quickly he takes control of the battle and beats up Puss, who was able to defeat a giant at the start of the film. He makes Puss feel what would be real terror for the first time in his life.
In addition to this, he is capable of following the main characters everywhere and he is, as he put it, ¨always watching¨. This is why Puss is always on alert because he knows that somewhere Death is observing him and he doesn’t know when he will strike.
And the thing is that Wolf rarely acts aggressively or looses his cool throughout the film. He always looks sure about his actions. He knows that he can’t be defeated easily. He whistles in a slowy yet chilling way when he appears on screen.
Another reason that explains his popularity is that he doesn’t have your typical evil villain motive. He isn’t obsessed with world conquest, fame or having power. In fact, he already has all this being the death himself. He doesn’t need any special artifact when he is able to go anywhere he wants without any issue.
He taunts and messes with Puss because he finds it fun. He finds it entertaining to play with someone who always laughed at the face of death because Puss had multiple lives. It could also be seen as him trying to give Puss a ¨lesson¨ for wasting his previous lives so recklessly.
Near the end of the film, when he notices that Puss isn’t any longer afraid of him the way he used to, he stops fighting since he doesn’t find fun in chasing someone who isn’t scared of him. Death calmly leaves the place, seeing that Puss finally appreciates the one life he has left.
What’s more, someone who worked in the film said that he likes the idea of Death being the one that saved Perrito from drowning when he was a puppy. While i’m not sure something like this was intended to be in story originally, this hints that Wolf wasn’t intended to be completely evil.
On last point, having a character that represents death itself in a film about appreciating the life you have and the things you take for granted is simply genius. It fits very well with the rest of the story thematically.
I haven’t seen many animated films having death as the main antagonist. It gives Wolf a unique touch since there is always this reminder that he isn’t your average antagonist. He is the Grim Reaper. He is some kind of semi-god entity that has control whenever a person dies.
He serves as this force that is constantly challenging Puss and pushes him out of his comfort zone. It leads the protagonist to change and to revaluate what things truly make him happy. He also embodies the whole theme of the film.
Overall, he is an antagonist that feels fresh, unique, who is scary and his role in the film goes well with the themes. It isn’t surprising he gained so much popularity.

Hi c:
Are you planning on making a backstory for cc?
C.C.- “they want to know my “Backstory” now? How peculiar..”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About backstory’s, I actually already made one! >:)
Alright so it normally goes like this. “There’s an old cartoon animation company, set in the 1940s. There was this young man, known as [REDACTED] made this humorous Cartoon cat drawing. He absolutely adored this idea of this “Cartoon Cat.” He wanted to show the world his ideas. but the world didn’t care. His boss, disapproved the idea, therefor the reason Cartoon cats name is unknown. The young artist didn’t give up there, he wanted to prove his boss wrong.
He went into a downwards spiral. He needed fame, badly. He tried many different ideas, but one idea stuck out.
He called up a “magic man” who was secretly a satanist, who would create rituals for satan. The man agreed to help the young artist get his fame. He gave him a list of items to collect in order to get his fame.
once the artist arrived at the place, he did the things in order just like he said.”
-place old TV in the center of the pentagram.
-light the 5 candles surrounding the circle.
-smash the screen of the TV. use the glass to cut your skin. And drip the blood inside of the TV.
-place the drawings of the Cartoon cat in the center. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“The Man started chanting in tounges, he was in his black robe, that was when the artist realized that, the Man was a ritualist. A satanist.
He watched as the flames grew bigger, and something arise out from the TV. A tall Cartoon-like cat. Disgusting devilish smile with disturbing jet black eyes. Red hues could be seen in the ground and sky, surrounding the Cat.”
“Once summoned, the Cat would follow the young artist around. Everywhere he went. The cat would mention disturbing actions, like murdering and eating the boss.
later on, the cartoon cat was found. Eating a coworker in the art studio. He chased around everyone in the studio, screaming in what some people would say agony. Sooner or later, the young artist was killed and eaten by the Cat. The monster left, unseen. Until reporters found in 2018 the Cartoon cat still alive at the Dirt Mall.”
yeah That basically settles it.
"Your Entourage: For Vinces Part I" by David Pailin Jr.
Based loosely on the life and experiences of Mark Wahlberg, The Entourage is the ultimate story of brotherhood, success, and struggle. Outside of the outlandish lifestyle and hilarious situations, there are critical lessons that The Entourage speaks to that it’s important that men everywhere internalize. We’ve developed this series called “Your Entourage” to share some of these gems.
Characters
Vincent "Vince" Chase played by Adrian Grenier
The Main focus of the show, Vince is effectively Mark who has moved from Queens, NY with his buddies to LA to pursue his acting career.
Eric "E" Murphy played by Kevin Connolly
E is Vince’s childhood best friend who goes on to be Vince’s manager
Ari Gold played by Jeremy Piven
Ari is a Hollywood heavyweight that joins on to be Vince’s agent
Johnny "Drama" Chase played by Kevin Dillon
Drama is Vince’s older brother who has had some success as a child actor.
Turtle played by Jerry Ferrara
Turtle is another close friend of Vince who is basically his assistant, taking care of the small and large requests that he has.
Know Your Role
One of the recurring themes in The Entourage is everyone’s struggle to understand and make peace with their role within the group, and this is probably best done by Vince.
Vince is literally the star of the show and the main source of income, so he is constantly making judgment calls between friends and paid professionals. He’s a genuinely humble and generous guy, but as he gains more fame he has to come to the sobering reality that he is the main attraction and will need to move accordingly.
Vince is a fictional character but Drake and Lebron are real-life examples of Vince’s who understand they are in a unique situation to bring their friends and family to another level of stardom and success, but it all depends on their ability to execute on the main thing.
For anyone in Vince’s shoes, it’s important that your decisions and behavior don’t jeopardize the career that brought everyone to the big stage in the first place. It’s equally important that you embrace your role with confidence and don’t feel guilty about your position in the entourage. Your leadership is needed in times of success and failure, as any confusion on your top priority will lead to conflict, missed opportunity, and resentment.
In one particular episode, another childhood friend of Vince pops up out of nowhere and invites himself to join the entourage. He’s fresh out of jail and aggressively stepping on the toes of all of the other entourage members, but it’s not until he steals the personal belongings of a very important studio exec that Vince is forced to make the decision to cut him off. Throughout the episode, there were signals of problematic behavior, but it wasn’t until his livelihood was threatened did Vince act. Unfortunately, we don’t always get the second chance to make things right like Vince, so it’s critical to assess how your role extends into the company you keep and introduce to mixed audiences.
Knowing your role goes beyond the limitations of your entourage. Regardless of the group dynamic, you are the star of your life and at any time that you don’t like the story that is being written, you can change scenes, settings, and the story arc. Keep this in mind as you sign up for any roles
hi, i saw your post about Dan Heng with a Female! Idol! Reader and i really loved it! <3
if you could, can you do a second part to that Dan Heng post? he’s one of my favourite characters and it would make me really happy! only again, because i loved it!!!
what i would like to request is…
Dan Heng gets nagged by March 7th to get her one of these sweets in Penacony because they’re ‘limited’ so he goes for her, with the location of the place in his phone. he pays attention to his phone to not realize in time that somebody crashed into him, he looks to see his favourite idol and he gets flustered. not only expecting him to see her, but to gain slight physical touch out of her and he finds out she’s been chased by a bunch of fans. he acts unconsciously and takes her to a nearby alleyway, hiding her close to hide her with a bunch of fans running around, looking for her and once its clear. in exchange, she takes him around Penacony to the nicest places since she is a VIP basically everywhere due to her fame and Dan Heng may have accidentally forgotten to get March 7th her ‘limited’ sweets, in which she blows up his phone but he doesn’t bother to respond.
please and thank you! <3
-> of course! The first part was so fun to write and I’m glad you enjoyed it so much!! I’d be happy to write Dan Heng as long as somebody requests it! This is the link to part one if anybody wants to read it! - Part 1!
March 7th. The girl he was cursing now, but the one who he would soon learn was a blessing. She had a tendency to be scrolling on any sort of social media when they were just relaxing on the expressing but never did he think he would all of a sudden be pulled out of his research and be dragged out into Penacony trying to find some limited edition sweet that she "needed". It was even worse since they had no idea where they were going since she had only seen a promo online about it, but it didn't have an address or anything on the page. Luckily with the little knowledge they had, they soon had an idea where they were supposed to be going and thank god for Google maps (or any sort of name you wanna use lol). Too bad he was so busy looking down at the directions not only did he lose March who ran off somewhere, but he had bumped into somebody. Great, now he actually had to speak to somebody. Just as he looked up to apologize to the person, he stopped. There she was. That Idol he's been researching and almost fainted when he realized that Caelus had gotten tickets to her concert, The (Name). He's never apologized faster in his life, of course a blush growing on his face, I mean he just made physical contact with the girl of his dreams!! She seemed a little fractic, looking around as she told him all was fine and that she was in a rush, and that's when he noticed all the people who were also looking around frantically. That's when he put it together, they were looking for (Name). Ignoring the buzzing of his phone he quickly pocketed it and took her hand, trying to blush any harder, and pulled her into a small little alley. He tried to explain that, no, he wasn't trying to do anything bad but make sure those people didn't see her, with a quick laugh from her end she thanked him before waiting out a while, both ignoring the obnoxious buzzing from his pocket. It was about 15-20 minutes before Dan Heng poked his head out and looked around before he gave a thumbs up, and just as he was about to pull out his phone and text March and ask where she was you spoke up. "Hey.. um, so I wanted to thank you, and I know you haven't explored all of penacony with all the issues and stuff happening so how about I take you on a little tour? I can get you into all the VIP areas too!" You asked with a smile, which in response he also slightly smiled back before leaving his phone in his pocket and following behind you as you walk out of the alley and start pointing things out. It definitely didn't feel like only a couple hours before you two were done and just strolling around the city as the sunset was slowly turning into the dark blue of the night. Eventually the two of you made it back to the alley where you started and since it was already night you both decided that it would be a good idea to go your separate ways, and with a quick kiss to his cheek and another thank you, you hurried off back towards your house. He was lost in his train of thought for a couple seconds with a blush that made him look like a tomato before he was broken out of it with a loud voice calling his name. Right. March.
Vince is a fictional character but Drake and Lebron are real-life examples of Vince’s who understand they are in a unique situation to bring their friends and family to another level of stardom and success, but it all depends on their ability to execute on the main thing.
For anyone in Vince’s shoes, it’s important that your decisions and behavior don’t jeopardize the career that brought everyone to the big stage in the first place. It’s equally important that you embrace your role with confidence and don’t feel guilty about your position in the entourage. Your leadership is needed in times of success and failure, as any confusion on your top priority will lead to conflict, missed opportunity, and resentment.
In one particular episode, another childhood friend of Vince pops up out of nowhere and invites himself to join the entourage. He’s fresh out of jail and aggressively stepping on the toes of all of the other entourage members, but it’s not until he steals the personal belongings of a very important studio exec that Vince is forced to make the decision to cut him off. Throughout the episode, there were signals of problematic behavior, but it wasn’t until his livelihood was threatened did Vince act. Unfortunately, we don’t always get the second chance to make things right like Vince, so it’s critical to assess how your role extends into the company you keep and introduce to mixed audiences.
Knowing your role goes beyond the limitations of your entourage. Regardless of the group dynamic, you are the star of your life and at any time that you don’t like the story that is being written, you can change scenes, settings, and the story arc. Keep this in mind as you sign up for any roles
"Your Entourage: For Vinces Part I" by David Pailin Jr.
Based loosely on the life and experiences of Mark Wahlberg, The Entourage is the ultimate story of brotherhood, success, and struggle. Outside of the outlandish lifestyle and hilarious situations, there are critical lessons that The Entourage speaks to that it’s important that men everywhere internalize. We’ve developed this series called “Your Entourage” to share some of these gems.
Characters
Vincent "Vince" Chase played by Adrian Grenier
The Main focus of the show, Vince is effectively Mark who has moved from Queens, NY with his buddies to LA to pursue his acting career.
Eric "E" Murphy played by Kevin Connolly
E is Vince’s childhood best friend who goes on to be Vince’s manager
Ari Gold played by Jeremy Piven
Ari is a Hollywood heavyweight that joins on to be Vince’s agent
Johnny "Drama" Chase played by Kevin Dillon
Drama is Vince’s older brother who has had some success as a child actor.
Turtle played by Jerry Ferrara
Turtle is another close friend of Vince who is basically his assistant, taking care of the small and large requests that he has.
Know Your Role
One of the recurring themes in The Entourage is everyone’s struggle to understand and make peace with their role within the group, and this is probably best done by Vince.
Vince is literally the star of the show and the main source of income, so he is constantly making judgment calls between friends and paid professionals. He’s a genuinely humble and generous guy, but as he gains more fame he has to come to the sobering reality that he is the main attraction and will need to move accordingly.
Why Jack Spicer is evil? - Analysis & Headcanon:
1. PARENTS ATTENTION:
We don't see Jack's parents on the show, only his mom was mentioned a couple of times from which we could assume his relationship with her was kind of strong and we could have even call Jack "mommy's boy".
On the other hand Jack's dad was mentioned once and once only, and it was in the first episode when he got the puzzle box gift from him with Wuya in it. When he felt disappointed that it was just a "mask" he threw it away and didn't seem bothered about the fact.
That led me to thinking there's something wrong with their relationship. Maybe Jack's dad had to work away from home, or he didn't live with Jack and his mother at all due to their divorce or something. Eventually he felt guilty about leaving his son like that so he tried to pay it back by buying him gifts. He didn't understand that it's not really the right way, so Jack thought that maybe if he's gonna get his dad's attention by doing something "disturbing" he's gonna spend more time with him. Eventually his whole family was way more supportive than he would have thought (like when his grandma gave him his flying backpack) and they thought that it's just a "phase" so they didn't do anything with him turning "evil".
2. BEING BULLIED:
I think we can all agree that, unfortunately, Jack is "good material" to be bullied and made fan of in school. He's albino with red hair, he's dressing differently (goth style) than the others and he has "weird" passions like building all of these robots and stuff. Also his silly and unique personality wouldn't help with him trying to fit into any of the "groups" in class and school. So, because he was so bullied he raised hateful feelings for all of the people who ever made fun of him, so he wanted to have his revenge on them one day. He wanted them to be afraid of him and he wanted to be finally admired and RESPECTED.
3. FAME/BEING FAMOUS:
Many people have a desire to be famous and well known for one reason or another. Either it's money or just pure joy from being someone who many people around the world know the name of. But usually people are known for SOMETHING.
Some sort of talent like singing, acting, being good at sports etc. But Jack wasn't good at any of those things! All he was interested in was building robots and different kinds of machines, but you can't get famous for that! I mean you can, but amon! How many famous scientists can average people name? Like what, Einstein, Hawking? Maybe also Tesla (but most of them will think about the car now🙄) So yeah, that is not making the cut! But, who else is well known around the world who doesn't have to have a talent, but is respected and the whole world knows who he is?... A Politician, right?! Yeaa, but you know who is even "better" and well known and famous and RESPECTED than a normal politician? That's right - A dictator. A tiran, like those one's you're thinking about right now. See? U dont need a name, and u already know who I am talking about. And that's what Jack Spicer wants. The power. The respect, the fear of people by only looking at him. Being seen, heard and well known everywhere he goes.
4. HIS IDOLS:
Somehow Jack didn't know anything about Wuya or shen gong wu, but he heard and read something about Chase Young and Hannibal Roy Bean. Ofc he could have dive into the word of "villains" and evil after meeting Wuya, but.... My point is that if he somehow knew about Chase and Hannibal before Wuya then they could be his idols, and people he wanted to be like one day. If he heard about them after Wuya, when his decision about this evil path was made, they could have been one more reason why he stayed in that path and didn't quit - Because he wanted to be like them SO. BAD. They (especially Chase) were his idols, mentors and influence of his. He wanted to be just like them, or even WORSE.
Venti: First Meeting and Friendship HCs
First Meeting HCs
————————————————————
The god of freedom certainly lived up to the title. A truly free spirit who only wished the same for others. He shaped the many hills and cliffs of Mondstadt with his own hand, and graciously bestowed his powers unto those he deemed worthy. And yet…there he sat - teetering on the edge of a barstool, completely and utterly intoxicated.
The red-head manning the bar rolls his eyes at the sorry display the archon was creating, and resumes cleaning the glass in his hand. However as a bell rings out - signaling a new patron - he looks up.
You enter the famed “Angels Share”, the best tavern in Mondstadt - or so you’ve been told. Really, you’ll decide that for yourself - is what you think as you slide into an empty seat at the bar. Eager to unwind after a long day of adventuring, you order your drink and attempt to relax.
But really, your night didn’t end how you’d hoped at all. You ended up with a loud and incredibly clingy bard hanging off of your shoulder spouting barely comprehensible rhymes and poems. You would’ve found amusement in the spectacle if you weren’t so tired. Shrugging him off did no good, as he was surprisingly strong for someone so small.
Thankfully, you got your sweet freedom as the bartender cut him off for the night, presenting the smaller boy with the shockingly large bill. A wave of pity washes over you as his face drops at the number.
He laughs awkwardly, attempting to convince the bartender that he could pay by other means, but the stoic man only sighs, trying to explain to the drop-dead drunk bard that he cannot keep the tavern open with “songs and sonnets”.
Really you were quite done with your failed attempt at relaxation - wanting to go home and just sleep the night away. Sliding a bag of Mora across the counter you state that it should be enough to cover both of your tabs. That was essentially all you’d earned via commission today, though, you can’t really find a reason to be mad about the extra expenditure. Helping people out - that’s just what you do. You don’t look twice as you exit the bar, though you feel a pair of eyes on your hooded figure as the door swings shut.
And that was that - you never saw the drunken bard again. Or so you thought. As the very next day you spotted him out of the corner of your eye while scouting around a Hilichurl camp, but as soon as you looked he was gone. And then that very same evening as you sat down for dinner at Good Hunter. Then several times over the next few days.
It was ticking you off, not just the fact that you had pretty much obtained a stalker, but the extra stress he brought with him as you now had to worry about his well being on top of yours during battle. You even started taking less dangerous commissions to further guarantee his safety. You didn’t really know or like the guy, but you certainly didn’t want him hurt, or worse; dead.
And by that point he wasn’t even trying to hide or disguise himself - trailing a few feet behind you nearly everywhere you went, drawing perplexed gazes from the townsfolk as you wandered from store to store for supplies. You were trying your best to keep your composure - to pretend he wasn’t even there in the first place - but the longer the charade went on the more cracks that appeared in your mask.
You didn’t mean to snap at him, honestly, but you were tired of putting up with a complete stranger following you around for no good reason - so you yelled at him. Right there in the middle of the market, the bard stood stunned - taken aback by your sudden outburst. He recovered quickly of course, smiling up/down at you like he hadn’t just been shouted at in clear view of the publics eye.
He hastily explains his actions, identifying himself as Venti - a travelling bard seeking inspiration for his next story. That night in the bar, he had been there lamenting - drowning his sorrows in wine over his recent pieces. They were all lacking ingenuity - a certain bit of flair that makes a story truly unforgettable. And that’s where you came in. You had caught his attention with your selfless act of generosity, so much so that it had given him that spark he he had been searching for. So naturally, he followed that spark - hoping it would continue to present him with the same creativity as before.
As you listen to his reasoning, the initial anger you felt mellows. You’re more than relieved that he’s not actually a creepy stalker, just a bard looking for inspiration.
Apologizing sheepishly for your actions, you scratch the back of your head. In that moment it was impossible to look into the boys eyes. You felt bad, truly. You had misread the situation entirely - thought it wasn’t all your fault. If the bard had simply approached you in the first place this whole fiasco could’ve all been avoided.
As you voice these thoughts to Venti he hums in understanding. He returns your apology with one of his own - bowing deeply with his beret in hand - shocking you and the few random townsfolk still paying attention to the scene.
Deeply embarrassed by the confused gazes the bard was drawing to them, you hastily accept his apology, tugging your hood further down to hide your hot face. Honestly the idea of just running away from the situation sounded quite appealing, but instead you restrain the urge - opting to walk past the boy as quick as possible.
Just as your shoulders brush, a hand latches onto your wrist - stopping your escape in its tracks. This time it’s Ventis turn to look sheepish, as he officially asks to accompany you on your exploits. He offers you entertainment and conversation, as well as any other skills he may or may not have - the latter only serving to confuse rather than convince you.
“Your journey would be far more enjoyable with a skilled bard such as myself by your side. Perhaps you would even allow me to write a ballad of your conquests?”
It’s not entirely uncommon for a bard to travel with an adventurer for inspiration, you suppose to yourself. Though you’re still more than a bit apprehensive on the matter. It’s not that you don’t want his company - really it does get quite lonely alone out on the road - it’s simply his safety that concerns you. But upon voicing this Venti simply chuckles, exclaiming that he’s much stronger than his appearance lets on.
Now - with no real reason to refuse - you accept his offer, earning a cheer from the bard. And so your joint journey began - you and Venti against whatever tasks or monsters needed tackling.
Friendship HC
————————————————————
It goes without saying that if you didn’t have a vision before, you certainly have one now. Within the first week in fact. Waking up in the early hours of the day to a soft blue glowing vision beside your head was not something you ever thought you’d experience - but of course you’re not complaining.
Upon shaking the bard awake to show him your discovery he only gives a rather tame reaction - as if he already knew you had it.
“Hmm? You woke up to a vision by your side? My, my - what luck you seem to possess! Perhaps now you may go into battle with less distress.”
Travelling with Venti is never dull, as he fills the silence with stories of old - tales of the long deserted original city of Mondstadt, the creation of the seven nations themselves and other obscurities that you don’t remember hearing about in any history book. Often times he interrupts his own story to spill his own hot take on a major historical figure or deity - hearing him call Andrius a “mother hen in denial” had you spit out your drink. His storytimes often end with you wondering how exactly someone so young would have knowledge of times long gone. He always shrugs it off, quickly changing the subject with a smile filled with secrets. For a boy so young he talks as if he’s been around for centuries.
Any looming worries over his well being are quickly dismissed once you see him fight. His nimble fingers and sharp eyes shoot down all matter of foes in rapid succession, and his skills at utilizing anemo are completely unparalleled. Really, you’re left wondering how he’s not the adventurer here.
You will absolutely fall victim to his pranks there’s nothing you can do about it. Whether it’s the wind blowing your cloak around in your face, extra jueyun chilies in your food or a slime condensate down the back of your shirt - you cannot escape the impish bards mischievous side. It’s when he suddenly falls quiet that you have to worry. A silent Venti is a scheming Venti.
However this is not a one-sided deal at all, he welcomes - no, insists - that you prank him back. He doesn’t want you to be left out of the fun after all! So get him back for that frog he put in your pack, or the time he kept pushing air currents in your direction so you couldn’t land your glider. Really; the more creative the better. If you’re able to prank him successfully he’ll laugh with you as you celebrate, praising you for your victory. But be warned that his next scheme will be twice as good as yours.
If you ever need a break from his shenanigans, go hang out with a cat. He won’t approach you while the animal is around, however he will be pouting up a storm from a distance.
You’ve gotten to discover many quirks of the bard clad in green over time, like how the tips of his hair seem to glow brighter when he’s in a good mood - especially when he laughs, and that he’s completely repulsed by cheese. If he ever bothers you too much you can get him back by chasing him while holding the stuff. Some of that nasty, stinky stuff Sara has at Good Hunter should do the trick. Mind you that the boy is incredibly spry - so good luck keeping up.
Eventually, he ends up revealing his true identity to you after the guilt of lying begins to eat away at his heart - making it harder to keep up his persona. Really he’d wanted to tell you for months at that point, but a lingering feeling of apprehension - a worry that you may no longer see him the same way - kept holding him back.
“Y/N, I wish to tell you a truth I’ve been hiding. You see…in reality, I am Lord Barbatos.”
“…”
“That…actually explains so much…”
He’s relieved to find that nothing has changed between the two of you after his revelation. You still treat him like Venti the bard, just as you always have. It’s a weight off his shoulders to be sure, and you can tell his overall mood has improved too.
It’s still kind of shocking when he switches to “Barbatos mode”, as you’ve taken to calling it. Spouting bars of philosophical gibberish at the most random of times leaves you blinking in utter confusion and often times just hurts your brain.
At the end of the day, the God of freedom is incredibly lonely. The best way to describe it is that he’s detached - he’s out of touch with his ever-changing homeland and the people that reside in it. Only ever appearing to handle a major problem or calamity at hand and then sending himself into a deep slumber for hundreds of years.
Waking up each time is like mental whiplash for the poor god, as he sees towns rise and fall, people come and go and things change again just he’s beginning to get used them. It takes a toll on him - though he won’t let anyone see that.
He craves companionship and the feeling of belonging that comes with it more than anything. Placing unconditional trust in someone else, backing them up when the goings get tough and having them do the same in return. Providing a shoulder to lean on in moments of weakness and being so comfortable that breathing easy becomes the simplest thing in the world. That’s what he wants. Barbatos may not be human but his vessel is.
That’s why Barbatos cherishes his friendship with you so much. He knows you - like all other humans - have a finite amount of time in this world. In time, wrinkles will adorn your face, and strands of silvery gray will appear in your hair. You bones will ache as age seeps into your body. And yet he will experience no such afflictions - forever wearing the face of a young boy from another time. Ever ageless, frozen in time.
The dull ache that spreads through his chest at the thought of watching the one who he considers his closest friend wither away in front of him is…crushing. Even though he knows your time alive is brief, and that your death would only cause him more pain - he can’t stop himself.
He’ll spend nearly every day by your side, telling you tales of yore, pulling pranks and practical jokes, covering your back in battle and being there when you need it most. He wants you to experience the land and all its freedoms. He wants you to get the most out of what little time you have in such a vast and expansive world.
You’re the closest friend he’s had since the real Venti - and he sees bits of him in you too. You help fill the gaping hole of loneliness in his chest - one stemming from a millennia of duty and repressed guilt.
He knows you’ll eventually leave him, and one day hopefully he’ll come to terms with that. But for now, he’s content with you by his side, racing off into whatever dangers lie ahead.
When Midoriya first got his hero license, he learnt two things about the Pros Industry: true heroes who have devoted themselves to justice are often black listed by the industry for doing just that, casualties of themselves or of the rules be damned. And second, their marketers are the first ones to know which Pros have beef.
It’s part of the reason why Midoriya, in his grown years, has intentionally let his hero license expire. See, when you get your hero license, they put you on this updated and in-depth registrar. Your name, your Quirk, your family, your family’s Quirks, where you went to school, and when you first got your license. Beginner licenses have to be renewed every year. Professional licenses are to be renewed every five years.
It’s a resolution you have to sort of resign yourself to. Every five years you’re meant to take a test that’s meant to verify that you’re still fit to receive income from the state and be trusted as an individual authority figure outside of a group occupation — such as a police officer might be, or a fire fighter — but as your own individual fighter. Every decade, they’ll make you redo the original test, seeing as you’re able to work well with civilians, fight under proper legal restrictions, and cooperate with others.
All in all, it’s a system Midoriya likes. He likes these check-ins. He likes to know he’s doing good work and being properly affirmed by the right authorities that he’s doing the right thing in the right circumstances. But under those conditions, the registrar gets updated, and the Pros Indus. hounds you for every microscopic detail about your life. They’re at the door to the exam, and they’re right with you after. And you can’t ignore them, at least Midoriya couldn’t even if he tried, because they’re everywhere. Like spiders, a million hundred little spiders crawling on the walls, the ceiling, the floor. They gorge on your insecurities, and promise to make you stronger.
They ask you the important things. How are you doing, Deku? Are you managing to hold it together despite the past-generation’s Pros growing resentful of you and your high rise to fame? How goes your relationships with your former classmates, especially Dynamight? How do you fair to your most common predecessor, All Might? Do you deserve his mantle, to yourself, or to anyone else? We have your prefecture’s poll results here.
And, truth be told to the future, and everyone else inside of that world: It makes Midoriya insufferably angry.
It’s one thing to be listening to rules, after all. Midoriya’s never done that part of heroism well, but he’s tried to listen to the good ones, the justified ones. But this — it’s different, it’s obsession-inducing. Midoriya feels the itch to strain his muscles every time he listens to the Pros Industry, and all their insistent, asinine rules. Don’t chase after that villain, we need a picture of you. You usurped the past-generation, something Endeavor couldn’t do without All Might’s resignation, you need a shoot with him. The press. The flashy. All the rumors and the drills and the ideology that as much as heroes are important, so are their images, god forbid — so are their reputations.
This idea, the Industry of Pro Heroes has made up, that the only people who should be allowed to touch and fabricate Pros’ histories, and their lives, should be them with latex gloves. God forbid someone get angry and do something heroic.
Midoriya is angry. And so he’s let his hero license expire, and he let the updated registration of his Quirk go outdated, as well. He cuts contact with almost all journalism, except for the rare and gritty independent journalists he’s worked with on a very few cases, and he sure as hell cuts contact with the Pros Industry. He deactivates every social media he can think of, and changes the passwords to his emails, his PO box, and his public phone numbers, and then shreds the paper three times.
He contacts someone he knows from the antihero mill underneath the city, and while it’s not legal to be a vigilante, he’s grazed the edges of their breed more than once, and acquires a burner phone with a different number. He sets his old phone on the coffee table in his last-known apartment, and sets it on Do Not Disturb.
Maybe Midoriya was incorrect, when he was small. Maybe he didn’t want to be a hero. Maybe he just wanted to do heroic things.
First Impressions and predictions based on the coven Leaders
After a full first season their fame adorning the banners and walls, who they are being hailed, yet they themselves being kept in the shadows we now get first looks (and throughout 2a will meet) the emperors top dogs: The coven leaders. I will not lie as a group... these guys dissappoint me. Making the majority of them very human in appearance for me is a big no. Compare this group to the many colorful and fantastical creatures that are shown teaching at hexside and the hexside teachers are far more creative, unique, and fun. Maybe the artists decided to make the coven leaders look more like normal people so the audience would have an easier time understanding their expressions and body language. Maybe the more humanoid whitches are a higher class and have a easier time climbing higher than the more beast and demon like residence.? We will have to wait and see.
Seperate this group into individuals (like how we will hopefully meet them) and most of them become far more interesting, So below lets take a look at each coven leader individually, where the artists may have taken inspriation, and what What kind of characters they could maybe turn out to be.
The Beast keeping coven Leader: One of the only two that are not humanoids. What type of animal is he? At first I was sure he was a hedgehog, but maybe he could also be like a chipmunk or a squirrel. I get the feeling he might be partially inspired by Sonic from Sega. I was really into Sonic back in middle school. I liked the cartoons and read through the archie’s old comic series. But I kinda out grew him since then. I know from helping to take care of kids though that he is still popular with the younger generation. That’s kinda how I thin the Beast Keeping Coven leader will be: less interesting for older viewers, but a real fun charcter for kids.
The Healing coven leader: Now this guy looks like fun villain all around. Is some kind of witch docotor? a Dark Priest? The size the purple Grin, he looks like the phantom boss from those horror films where you get trapped in nightmares. Tell me he has scary theme song music and talks in a very high pitched voice. I’ve heard some people wonder if he could be Selena (oracle girl from hexside)’s dad. I don’t thinks so, the macaroni crescent shape n his head looks more like a fancy cowl than part of his actual head. Also him having a daughter in Luz’s class could be used as a reason for him to change sides, I want this guy to stay as a villian/antagonist. We all know that with this size group some will stay with the emperor and some will defect to Luz’s side (possibility a couple will die, we haven’t seen yet just how dark Dana is willing to go). Personally my view with redemption arcs and if a character “deserves them” is it depends on what it will do for the story/character afterwards? IF redeeming them opens more doors for the characters and directions the story can take, do it. IF it closes doors leave them as they are. I absolutely hate when clever and well written bad guys get “redeemed” in to boring, plot useless, weebs. The only reason I could see having this guy change sides is for him to “cure” Eda and Lilith’s curse, and I would much rather see the two of them gain control over their forms than be “cured” of them.
The Illusion coven leader: Another fun looking antagonist. My third favorite of these nine. If the healer guy is horror movie based. This guy is Disney based all around. Looks like one of those Vegas suave showmen styled character. Love it. I guarantee you he does not actually look that young or slicked back, but is using illusion magic to make himself more pretty. Not sure if he will stay with the emperor or not. Illusion is Gus’s track and I could see Dana having the leaders of Luz’s friends tracks be the ones to stand by them. If so I am fine with that (in the case of the abomination leader I will beg for it). Gaining the respect of someone as high up as a coven leader could be really great for Gus’s character. Just as long as I get plenty of laughs from Gus and this guy both along the way.
The Potion coven leader: My second favorite and in my opinion the most creative idea of the whole bunch. A mosquito that works in potions! Does he suck them up with his nose and carry them in.. whatever it is mosquitos store blood in. Also he looks angry. Like everyone else is either amused or board. This guy is fed up and ready to do something about it. Not sure if it is the Emperor, the other leaders, or the owl gang he is mad at, but it should be a worthwhile show down.
The Abomination coven leader: Yes this is my favorite design. Yes it is because he is such a beautiful man. Would never have expected someone who creates mucks (the pokemon) with legs would be so fine. Its more than that though. He looks the most kind. Their is no malice or guise in his smile and his green eyes are bright and relaxed. I wondered what the purpose of the Abomination track was and why it had “more opportunity” all last season. Well slight spoilers if you haven’t seen episode 2x02 it is the industrialist field. When you learn about Industrialization usually the idea is that it is done to help the human race reach its full potential, and it is up to each individual to decide what to do with that potential. Whether you call that the passion of a creative mind or the carelessness of a fool would also be up to you. But I really don’t want this guy to be all bad. If for no other reason that more spoilers for episode 2 * with the interest/caution the emperor is showing the blights I expect this guy to show up to their house, probably meet Amity, and we really do not need another not so nice adult in her life. She has had enough.
The Oracle coven leader: What is this? He’s got nails/caws at the ends of dread thingys like Kikimore, so is this her father? Does he have anything to do with her being in the Emporor’s coven? But this is my least favorite. Like what was the inspiration behind this guy? With so many legendary oracles in mythology and we get this guy who mostly looks saggy, washed out, tierd, and just Blah. Hope thier is more to him, but here is one who I am not holding my breath for an episode on.
The Plant coven leader: based on her banner I was expecting something like the Swamp Giant from ALTA. Instead they went in the direction of a very traditional witch desgine: An old women with a wrinkled face and really messy hair, who probably lives alone in the woods, with maybe the exception of a cat, and dances around a fire at night. Okay. She is definitely going to become an ally of the owl gang. This is the only female of the group,and it is neither in Dana’s message nor would it be popular with her target audience to make a villain or even an antagonist out of a women who managed to climb the later into a male dominated success level. I am actually looking forward to seeing her, because it will probably be in a Willow based episode, and after 2x02 (which I personally feel should not have been a luminaty episode but rather a Willow and Amity one finishing up their reconciliation arc), Willow deserves an episode with potential centered around her. An episode where she goes against the Plant track Leader would be that. This witches Grin isn’t exactly friendly, but its more mischievous than wicked. She gives off vibes as one of those people who like to test the mains, and if you pass her tests than you earn her respect. I have no doubt Willow could win at her little games, and doing so would be a huge boost the confidence she has spent the show building.
The Construction coven leader: Oh joy here’s the other one I am unimpressed with. Unlike with the Oracle guy I know where they got his design. To everyone saying that we first saw him at the convention, your not backing far enough up. If you have ever seen any cartoon ever where the main character wanders past or onto a construction sight you have seen this man. Every trio of workers sitting on a iron frame eating from a lunchbox. Every pig that makes a catcall at a disgusted women. Every exhausted worker who watches as your slapstick mains chase each other past at quitting time... they all looked EXACTLY like this guy. This is really the character leading the track Dana herself has said she would pick to join? They could have done a Golem made of brick an stone that resembles a palace. They could have done some kind of humanoid ant with super strength. They could have done a wizard with shapes and mathematics on his robe who carried a scroll everywhere that he compulsively scribbled blueprints onto. But instead we get Mr. Generic here.
The Bard coven Leader: This is R, Eda’s old friend from her hexside days. Did I save R for last because of this connection? Partially. I am also unsure what R’s pronouns are. To me R looks physically male. I have seen other posters use “she” when posting about R. One person posted that Dana had confirmed R uses “they” and if so awesome, I would really like to see that tweet. What ever R’s pronouns though their appearance in the show will be tied with Eda, er past, and what she had to give up in order to live free. I look forward to this new insight onto her character
