[9-10-2022] Possibly an unpopular opinion but "posing for pictures is weird to me." I already feel awkward just being in pictures to begin with but if I had to be in a photo, I like those "caught in the moment" shots because it has a level of "rawness/authenticity" to it (but I get it can be difficult to capture because blurry movement and stuff without proper parameters). The idea of "posing in the moment" feels manufactured to me. That isn't to say that there's anything wrong with it; you want to put the best version of yourself out there. I want to ask my old GoGo/Model friends about it. I think it might be a different perspective. But also, I don't know how to pose or what to do with my hands. But anywho, here's some photos from Thursday night. There should be more (maybe) coming out later but not sure when. To whoever took these, thank you. Today I challenged the ladies in my accountability group to strike a pose that makes them feel the most confident. . . This is what I call the "superman stance". When I was in graduate school we had these huge cumulative practical exams that were super stressful. One woman in my class and I would always play our pump up playlist before we went in and last minute strike this pose. It gave us the confidence to walk in and crush the test! . . Other than sticking a pose, having my nails done, my legs shaved, makeup on and dressing nice all increase my confidence in whatever I'm doing. What gives you confidence? Do you do these things for yourself often? Could you do them more? . . I challenge you today to do whatever you need to to be the most confident person you can be. Start your week off strong. I was supposed to work on heavy singles last Thursday, but my back was being a dick and we went and had fun seeing @theoutlawmariachi instead. That being said, I have a comp this Saturday and wanted to get an idea where I was since axel deadlifts can be a little tricky for me, what with my bitty hands and obvious issues with finding the damn center of the bar, as I so gracefully demonstrated here. I made about four attempts at 315lbs, these are my best two. Also, a successful lift at 285lbs, just to make myself look at least kinda cool. There's nothing wrong with tricking yourself into feeling good, especially on a Monday. Here's how: Smile even if you don't feel like it. Say something nice to yourself. Say something nice to someone else. Choose to notice and take in something good in your environment (like a sunny window, nature, a photograph of loved ones) Note: I'm not suggesting that we stuff or ignore feelings.
