Edit: I don’t know how old my husband is.

Edit: We got remarried again since I made the first post.

I (48M) called my ex husband (77M) by his great grandfather’s (deceased M) name while in bed together and I don’t want him to bring it up.

He doesn’t usually tend to pry into my private life, but this definitely threw him. I’ve been thinking of proposing to him for a while, and it might work as a distraction. Would it be too obvious a tactic? If I do it in a public enough place, it might make him uncomfortable to leave for a few months, but I don’t want to give him time to think about it.

Edit: I had a pleasant working relationship with his great grandfather, and in fact my ex husband and I first got engaged at his funeral, which are usually family affairs. There’s no chance he misheard, and his great grandfather had a rather old fashioned name, so I doubt he’ll think it a coincidence. 

Edit 2: No, he’d never see this. He hates talking to people, and barely knows how to use a computer.

I (48M) called my husband (77M) by his great grandfather’s (deceased M) name while in bed together and I don’t want him to bring it up. UPDATE

As I mentioned in the comments of my previous post, I proposed and he accepted. He hasn’t brought the incident up, but the annual fundraising party for my business is coming up and his family is one of my biggest financial supporters. Another benefactor of mine, and our mutual friend, will be there, and he’s a shameless gossip. My husband isn’t prone to oversharing, but I’m worried if they talk our friend will mention something incriminating. My husband’s great grandfather provided the funds I needed to start my business, and I have a portrait of him in the room I always hold the party in. Moving to a different location would raise suspicions, as would taking down the portrait. I do not under any circumstances want the incident to come up at this party. My business relies very heavily on donations, and if any of my benefactors pull their support it could greatly inconvenience me.

Edit 1: Yes, my husband does closely resemble his great grandfather, in appearance if not personality.

Edit 2: No, I’m not worried about him wanting another divorce. He rarely goes through with them, and even if he does, the alimony makes up for it.

Edit 3: Please stop speculating on the nature of my business, or my relationships with my benefactors.

this is now apparently a HUGE problem in my household?? and I really don’t see the reason why?

when I (17M) was 9 I was left to my own devices a lot so of course I took up photography, and specifically taking pictures of the cities nightlife

and idk why but one night i saw my neighbors out and about and it caught my interest and I started taking photos of them and just idk following them around?

anyways because a bunch of stuff happened with family and the neighbors ended up taking me in, and it’s been like five years since I’ve stopped and I guess I thought they knew?

like I was literally nine following them how did they NOT see me? thought it was the whole reason they took me in tbh

so when I joked about it, they were like ‘what do you mean’ and i explained it and they were horrified, especially when i brought OUT some photos of them like tripping on curbs and stuff like that

apparently that’s ‘really wrong’ and ‘no sane person would do that’ and one that kept popping up ‘why do you still have these’

woah crazy story

AITA for killing my boss even though he asked (before anyone comes for me he’s fine now)

so i (33M, green) got hired by this guy (45M, green now red) running an enchanting business because i accidentally used his things when i saw his stuff laying around as he was still working on his shop. i was just in it to sort of repay the service i used but then we became friends. thing is he also had these really sketchy guys from the desert that wanted to undercut him hard by taking over the business and all his enchants, and they would keep perstering him about it, breaking and entering, etc etc (my boss wasn't the type of guy to stick up for himself very much so it kind of happened a lot).

but the big thing was when they planted a bomb at the entrance to the building where the shop was. this pissed my boss off a lot because they made him go from green to yellow, and he said he had a plan, but he wouldn't tell me what it was.

and then one day he comes out with a really nice axe that he gifts me (i thought it was cool) but then it turns out he'd basically built a sacrificial altar in the patio outside the shop (not cool). then he turns to me, and asks me to kill him. i didn't want to do it because i'm green and he's yellow but he's also my boss and im supposed to listen, and then he's also my friend so i decided to trust him on this and so i just went along and cut off his head.

and now EVERY friend of my boss is blowing up my messages asking why i did that. i tried to say that i had no choice because he literally told me to do it and he's just on red now, not permadead, but nobody wants to believe me and i think there's someone already coming over. they're my boss' friends but also if they try to get at me i will fight back. but also it would make my boss upset and he trusts me a lot. i feel bad for killing my boss but he told me to do it so i don't think it's wrong?

AITA: I (6000+ M) took a long distance job offer after my (6000+ M) kissed me, now he thinks I don’t love him

Hey Reddit, throwaway because I have quite nosy coworkers that know my other account. I have been at this heavenly company for a really long time but a couple years ago they fired me for being involved with someone from a rival company. Now he’s my best friend. He also got fired but he never really like his company anyway and doesn’t seem that upset about it. He lost his apartment though so he’s been coming over a lot more often so he doesn’t have to sleep in his car.

The problem is that the company I used to work for offered me a senior position out of the blue, which has basically been my dream since I can remember. I knew it would mean being away from my best friend though so I worked out a deal to have him come with me, and the company actually offered to hire us both. When I went to tell him the good news he blew up at me and said this isn’t what he wanted and he’d rather start over somewhere new. When I told him this is better for both of us he kissed me and stormed off. We’ve been companions, friends, whatever you would call it for ages but we’ve never kissed before.

After he stormed out he waited by his car but I didn’t go after him. I don’t know if it was the anger or the fear of what he might say but I couldn’t face him. I still took the job and left him because I can’t miss this opportunity even if it means losing him, and this is where I think I might be TA. I’m really frustrated that I stuck my neck out and got both of us jobs again, and he won’t even consider it. Especially after he’s been at my place so much and clearly wants to be more than friends I feel like it only makes sense for us to both work together again. We are such a good team and I don’t understand why he think abandoning our lives makes more sense then trying to repair the ones we’ve got. I really love him and don’t want to hurt his feelings but now he’s not talking to me. Was it wrong to take the job even though I know I can fix things and make it better for him?

Edit: for everyone asking why he wouldn’t want to work it’s because he’s worked for this company before and they fired him and a bunch of coworkers for trying to unionize/question higher management.

Edit 2: Okay I’m trying to respond to as many of these as I can but I get it I’m the asshole. I am going to go after him and try to make things right as soon as I get off work. Will post update soon.

They should make a second AITA subreddit that is purely for creative writing, cause the fake stories, especially the ones that describe, like, a movie villain's pov of events, are genuinely some of the funnest posts on reddit and writing AITA posts for characters is a really fun writing excersize. There could be a tag to indicate its a known character so people could guess who alongside their rating, and it'd get at least some of that stuff out of the actual subreddit.
