Chapter 2: Delulu

Summary

Peter, the Duke of Petit-Gru, is NOT having the time of his life. That's before he meets a severe, sniffy genie and Quiet Hires her...

The Duke of Petit-Gru had been experiencing excessive amounts of stress over the past two weeks. Specifically, and in no particular order, this involved the following:

Overhearing the King and Queen of Gyffindoria discussing Prince James’s curse and mentioning the fact it was due to last one hundred years (bro, dude, sis, Your Majesties –W the actual F??) before autocorrecting that to three years, which was clearly a big, huge lie. Did his cheerful friend know this??! What half-assed, salty Wix would do that?? (TL; DR Jimbo was cooked)

He had overheard the perpetually longwinded Albus Dumbledore, Head of the Privy Council, tell the Queen that troops had caught sight of a band of ne’er-do-wells slipping over the mountainous frontier between Slytherin and Gryffindoria, dressed in camo but oddly sporting King Orion’s gaudy insignia (a Portcullis, in silver, crowned; with motto Altera Securitas*) – it was giving assassins vibes, and not in a good way. He missed hanging out with Prince James on his own, but his friend Sirius was lit, and the time where he destroyed Sir Hugo Avery - aka the guy who had bullied Peter since he was five years old - lived rent free in his head. (Anyhoo, TL; DR Sirius was going to be unalived – oof!)

The reason he kept overhearing insanely scary af information was that he could change into a rat at will. He really needed to get a vibe check

Fairytale

Sirius pulls his red hood over his eyes, fingers straining at the grip he has on his basket. When his mother had sent him out into the forest on the full moon, he knew he couldn’t refuse her. He also knew that it could potentially end in his death. Sirius knows why he’s being punished so harshly of course, sneaking into the ball had been an incredibly impulsive decision. It wasn’t even really his sneaking around that had her fuming, but the way he danced with the prince all night, giggling at his jokes and draping himself over the prince’s chest—taking the attention away from Regulus, the chosen target for the prince’s affections. No matter that Regulus had his own thing going on with the shoemaker’s son.

Sirius’ eyes dart around watchfully, making sure not to stray off the path as he rushes to his grandmother Irma’s house, when suddenly his eyes latch on to a canine figure peering at him through the dense bushes. He freezes when it approaches him, shaking off the leaves as it pads slowly forward. The wolf is huge, each clawed paw sinking into the soft dirt of the forest floor, with glowing gold eyes; the same gold of the prince’s crown, Sirius thinks with a pang. From its monstrous mouth are two curved fangs, thorn-sharp and ivory white.

“Um, okay then,” Sirius whispers to himself, sounding half-choked even to himself. The beast wanders to his side and then, startlingly, sits at his feet, looking up at him with puppy-dog eyes. “Well,” he tells it, “if you’re not going to attack me then I suppose you can accompany me to my grandmother’s house.” Strangely, it seems to nod.

They continue the journey, side-by-side, the wolf growling in warning at any threats that watch from the shadows, which Sirius really appreciates. He wasn’t looking forward to dying. “You’re just a cute, protective puppy, aren’t you?” he says, patting its monstrously large head. When they arrive it’s almost morning, the moon descending under the horizon once more.

His grandmother is quite shocked to see him, not only alive, but with a prince by his side.

Sirius sat down at the Gryffindor table, hair falling into his face, groaning. Remus passed him a hair tie and a plate of buttered toast. Sirius smiled at him before tying his hair back. He reached for James’ cup.

Green tea, disgusting.

Spluttering, he reached for Pete’s. Milky coffee with four sweeteners. Even more disgusting.

With a weary sigh, Remus held out his cup, which Sirius took eagerly. He smiled as he took a long sip. Tea, two sugars, not too much milk. Just right.

“Thanks, Moons.” He moved to pass the cup back to him but Remus shook his head.

“You can have it. It’s got your mouth all over it now.” Sirius avoided James’ gaze and took another sip of the tea.

Sirius was pissed off. James and Pete had decided to spell his bed to be wet somehow and he was tired and not in the mood. He crossed the room to Pete’s bed and pushed back the blanket. Before he lay down, he was already sinking into the mattress. Nope. There’s no way he could sleep on this, he’d suffocate.

He crossed to James’ bed and flung himself on it, winding himself slightly. How the fuck did James sleep on this? It was like a slab of concrete. Sirius rolled over to see if it was any better for his back. Nope.

He already suspected where this was going. He approached Remus’ bed, knowing from many chats and nightmares over the past six years, that he could very easily get a good night's sleep in it. He crawled beneath the blankets and before long, he was asleep.

Half an hour later the other three made their way upstairs. Remus saw him first and gestured to the other two to be quiet.

“What did you do to his bed?” He hissed.

Pete covered his mouth, suppressing a giggle as he headed to the bathroom. James looked innocently at Remus, “No idea what you mean. It looks like maybe he spilled something.”

“There’s a puddle underneath it.” Remus cast a drying spell before turning to the other two. “His bed, Prongs. Really?”

“He put doxy eggs in Pete’s pillowcase.” James shrugged as he headed towards his bed, “Just a little brotherly retaliation.”

Remus sighed, “Of course.”

He crossed the room and started changing for bed. He had no issues sharing with Sirius, but it was usually Sirius making the decision to share in a moment of distress and somehow this felt different. He could just sleep in Sirius’ bed now it was dry, but if he was honest with himself he didn’t want to. Sirius smiled in his sleep and Remus climbed in next to him, forcing himself to shoot a mutinous look at James before closing the curtains.

i mean she really has everything. stolen child married to a capricious faerie lord. obedient daughter to her family’s murderer. mistress, wife, and courtier. her twin sister is nothing like her (deep down they are exactly the same). killer of her monster bridegroom -> thus retroactively fulfilling what her mother could not. she wears a gown of gossamer and glass. nobody ever knows what she’s really thinking. she lies and cheats and eats faerie fruit for fun.

(i think the duarte twins are both defined by their powerlessness, and their innate discomfort with it. jude has a pathological need for power, to shield herself against feeling weak. taryn copes with feeling weak by making a life out of it, reveling in it, doing everything to make herself seem as powerless as possible. she cannot be discomforted by it, if it’s what she chooses. <- twin girls who eventually snap)

Remus woke to a crash. 

Living in a shitty London flat in the bad side of town, it wasn’t particularly uncommon. It was, however, the first time the crash had come from his own flat. 

He dragged a hand over his eyes and sighed. If the world could just stop for a few goddamn hours so Remus could sleep for once, that would be great. Actually, that would be better than great. It would be fucking amazing.

There was another crash, and Remus debated whether screaming at whatever was in his flat would make it go away. At the third crash, though, he decided it probably wasn’t human and mentally patted himself on the back for having the forethought to lock Ziggy in his bedroom with him. (It had been because he was afraid the cat would accidentally turn on the tap and flood the kitchen again, but he could pretend it was because of the possibility of an intruder.)

By the time the fourth crash came, Remus was already up and opening his bedroom door, lightly shoving Ziggy back with his foot, even as the damn cat ran out anyway. 

Following the black and white blur, Remus reluctantly made his way to the kitchen and stopped in his tracks. 

A tall man with black waves falling down to his waist was rummaging through the cupboards over the stove, but what really drew Remus’ attention were the bow and arrows strapped to his back and the tight black pants hugging his legs as if from straight out of a fairytale. 

So not an animal, Remus thought, though the way he was searching through Remus’ kitchen said otherwise. 

Another crash sounded as the man dropped a metal mixing bowl behind him, rolling to a stop next to a pot where it seemed Ziggy had made himself comfortable, two overturned chairs, and what looked like all the silverware. 

The next thing the man grabbed forced Remus back to his senses. “No! That’s my only mug!”

His shout only served to startle the man, and the mug fell to the floor with a clatter. Remus looked down in grief at the shatters. 

“I see you’re finally up,” the man said, allowing Remus to finally get a look at his face. He was beautiful, all angles and elegant lines, grey eyes piercing and full of mischief. “You have quite the reputation.”

“With who?” Remus asked. Clearly, he was in shock or he would have sorted out his priorities, such as who was this man, why was he in Remus’ flat, and why had he thrown half his kitchen to the floor. 

“With Fairy, obviously,” he answered, as if Remus were stupid. “We’ve been looking for you for a long time, you see, and now it’s time for you to come home.”

NOW PAUSE DONT GET WEIRD- I said we were changing the story bit

They are still brothers. And not lovers. Cool? Ok cool, moving on

The movie starts with regulus in his house with pandora, and they're making a fake "true love" to cheer regulus up. And he sings like Giselle does in the movie, and sirius hears and is like "omg someone looking for true love!!" And he runs to find this person and goes "oh. It's you." Bc he didn't know it was his brother.

Walburga is obviously the evil queen (their mother) and wants to keep them from finding love bc it means she keeps her power

Pandora is a horrible influence and wants regulus to find someone. Peter (bc its funny if yk who plays him) is the one hired by walburga to keep sirius busy and not falling in love

The next day, they go back to the castle to have a meeting with their mother. Sirius tries to get Reggie to go to the old wishing well they went to as kids. And reg is stubborn but they end up going. Sirius wishes for true love. And oops what do you know, the magic of the well sucks him in. Regulus panics and grabs Sirius, and they both fall in.

Reg Giselle, Sirius Edward, pandora is essentially pip, Peter is Nathaniel, walburga is narissa

Now into the real world!!

We have single father James Potter, raising his adventurous son, Harry (Robert and morgan)

James' secretary is none other than Remus Lupin (nancy). Except instead of them dating and stuff, they're sad best friends

And james' ex wife is ofc Lily Evans (hence the pandalily I couldn't help but add. Her and james are still friends that's how we get this)

So now in the real world, james and Harry stumble upon 2 overly dressed idiots stuck outside in the rain one night. Harry is excited bc they're something out of a fairytale. He convinces his dad to take the sad fucks in bc its literally pouring out. (Yes sirius climbed a billboard bc he thought it was a castle). So james gives in thanks to Harry and let's the brothers stay the night bc he's already getting a soft spot for them

So yes it's a decent amount different from the story but you see the vision right?

So from here pandora and Peter are racing against each other to get back the brothers. Peter obviously scared of walburga so he's trying to get them back for that, pandora is the opposite and is trying to beat him to it

Now im considering writing this- like genuinely. I'm planning it rn actually. But. Only if this gets a decent amount of support. I wanna know if anyone actually likes the idea so- lmk

More Childhood Headcannons/AU

I had more thoughts about Peter and Marlene getting married as kids

Peter and Marlene made little rings for each other

Marlene 'proposed' to Peter

Sirius was a little jealous of Marlene and Peter's friendship when he found out about the 'marriage'

Peter was quick to assure him that there was nothing more than friendship between them

Marlene wanted Peter to be her kids godfather

He insisted James or Remus were the better choice

Sirius and her ended up making all three other Marauders godfather because 'you can never have to many'

Peter and Lily were both Marlene's maid of honors because she said it would feel weird not having him at the alter when she got married

Peter happily refers to Marlene as 'his wife' whenever he has the chance

Sirius is the first of Marlene's partners to accept this

James likes to joke that he can't believe Peter got married before he did

When Peter is feeling down about finding it hard to get a date Marlene reminds him that she wanted to be with him forever at seven and someone will come around

She also told him that finding love while married is hard

In a world where Peter wasn't responsible for Marlene's death he is devasted and retreats into himself

Sirius makes a teary eyed joke that they're both widowers now

No one laughs

Peter decides then and there he doesn't want to die

He takes the mark knowing that he is letting his 'wife' down

Marlene cusses him out in the afterlife when he shows up

She then hugs him and cries because love isn't simple and she has loved Peter practically her whole life

She simply tells him that she made a vow of unconditional love all those years ago and though a part of her hates him another part doesn't know how to

Marlene could read Peter better than anyone else and was very protective of him

Peter always felt more confident around Marlene

James refers to Sirius and Peter as 'Marlene's husbands' even before Sirius and Marlene are married

Marlene and Peter got married because they were playing knights with James and Marlene 'saved him'

She then informed him they needed to get married because 'that's how it works in Muggle fairytales'

Peter agreed because he said it would mean they had to be friends forever

Sirius didn't think the traitor could be Peter because of how close him and Marlene were

He fully believed Peter would never do anything to hurt Marlene

Sadly work has been AWFULLY BUSY as has personal life (but: due to SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE at home this summer AND possibly at work from next week TL;DR hurray more writing time soon!) so… very little writing happening in past few months.

If things improve, then what I’m hoping to work on is my one WIP and these ideas which could become WIPs if there is interest:

1. BLAME

A Marauders What If...?

What if James had been blamed for the Prank?What if he got expelled at the end of Fifth Year?What if there was never a Lily Evans and James Potter? If they parted enemies, if they never got together in their final year in Hogwarts? What if the marauders lost James? What then?

It’s currently been stuck at chapter 6 for months…

2. One Day Jily AU

Okay, the Netflix series was brilliant. And while I usually absolutely do NOT see James as similar to Dex in personality, I’m tempted….

3. Fairytale AU (Jily & Wolfstar)

🧚 Lily Evans lives with her wicked step-sister and wishes she could do normal things girls her age want to do, like go to the ball, have a life, have a fairy godmother etc…

🧚 Everyone thinks Prince James Charming Potter has the best life ever. They seem to have forgotten he was cursed by a wicked witch as a baby and is due to be die in a few weeks (something involving a needle or a spindle thingymajig? Sounds a bit made up tbh). His parents think it’s balderdash, are refusing to believe this, and are determined to throw a giant ball in his honour…

🧚 His friend Prince Sirius is trying to run away from his wicked step-father and his weirdo obsession with him being the Fairest of Them All. He’s thinking that a permanent visit to Prince James is the answer to his problems…

🧚 Lily’s friend Remus has been cursed by a wicked werewolf. He now looks like a beast. It’s complicated…

hi this might sound silly but the cursed ship game you did a while ago on your blog genuinely helped me find motivation to write. I've started just randomly picking a few marauders era characters and a setting and thinking about how I could write a silly one shot out of this and it's so freeing to create fanfiction outside of fandom and simply for your own pleasure, which is something I wasn't really aware of before. Like genuinely 18 yo me would be sent into cardiac arrest if told i would ever write Marlene/Evan fairytale aus

as much as I love the community aspect of fandom, there's definitely something to be said for playing in the sandbox alone, and cursed ships/crackships can be so helpful for encouraging raw creativity! I definitely judge myself/my writing less when I'm writing cursed ships because I'm already starting from a place of absurdity (but also flexing a lot of practical creative muscles when I ask myself 'okay but how do I make this one work?')

Thank you for the ask! Unfortunately, I'm probably not the best person to recommend fics as I haven't read very many Wolfstar fics in the past few years because I'm so picky about how Sirius and Remus are written. I have a hard time finding Wolfstar fics that meet my Sirius-standards! And huge confession... I haven't read tcoptp (yet! it's on my list!) and I didn't like ATYD's. Blasphemous! I know. I tried.

If I haven't completely turned you away at this point and are still interested the best I can think to recommend is down below,

What I am currently reading, The MapMakers by Dizzy_Bird. So far it's lighthearted and enjoyably chaotic.

Fics that have been recommended to me that I haven't read yet but look promising:

Fairytales of Yesterday, by padfootandprongsy

Ripples of Light, by moonlighthowl, this one has Death Eater Sirius.

Fics I have read: Operation Toebeans, a short but funny story. Sirius is hilarious and I appreciate his dedication to the cause. While more lighthearted it does have some serious moments.

Text Talk by merlywhirls is a muggle AU where Sirius goes to boarding school and Remus has a chronic illness, and they meet when Sirius texts the wrong number. I think about this fic a lot and re-read it often. I would probably recommend this one the most if you like ATYD's.

You should also look up the Shoebox Project by Jaida and Rave, if you haven't already. It's the building blocks of the old Wolfstar fandom. Written as a series of letters.

I know you asked for Wolfstar but I also highly recommend The Last Enemy series by CH_Darling. It's slow building Jily centric with even slower building Wolfstar. It's by far my favorite fic and contains my favorite ever characterizations of the Marauder boys, most especially Sirius. He's cool, smart, suave, an arrogant ponce, and a bully. Lily actually reminds me of ATYDs Remus (I think? lol), which you might enjoy. This fic probably matches the vibe of ATYD's most, just with Jily at center stage. I took a chance on it while looking for Wolfstar fics and I am so happy that I did, even if Wolfstar is but crumbs so far.

These probably aren't exactly what you're looking for but like I said I'm kind of picky. Happy fic hunting!

(p.s. highly recommend Leslie Grace on Tik Tok, she makes awesome Wolfstar edits, and I believe she's an ATYD's fan. Her Sirius is very Sirius! I'm obsessed!)
