Thanks for the ask!! Bob’s basically the CEO of Daniel’s Miis having a bigger lore than just being props for a Mario Kart game and I think he NEEDS more respect for that alone lol

How I Feel About This Character

I LOVE HIM!!!! There’s so much I wanna know about him,, especially his past with Punnyatta!! Dude’s gone through a similar thing to Erica and I think that should be explored more… I love you Demon Hunters/Mario Kart Mii Making it’s a shame that only like 5 people are aware of its existence (and its status as Failtopia’s Prequel)

His whole arc in S1 where he learns to become less simple and develops a personality of his own is just. I love it. it’s so good!!! (S2 post game ruins it but S2 Post Game Doesn’t Exist) also shoutouts to Bob canonically being a flirt fr, looking at S1 he’s got a surprising amount of charisma :0

All The People I Ship Romantically With This Character

I ship him with both Smuk and Rose!! Their dynamic is so healthy to me and they’re all just cute together ngl,, I have more thoughts on them but it’s nothing I can really put to words rn lol

My Non-Romantic OTP For This Character

Erica and Bob, in S1 at least. I like the idea that before Erica’s multiclass Bob gave her a tip or two for how to use a sword! I think that especially after S2 they would be close! I also think that Bob and Punnyatta’s dynamic would be SO FUN to see in Miitopia’s style!! I’d kill for more lore on Bob’s life before TFFM, I hope someday we can get some more info on his first party…

and while this isn’t really an OTP, but I think Bob’s dynamic with C!Fail is so interesting, they were the original duo, but by the end of the series Bob seemed more than willing to leave him under the bus when C!Fail needed his help!

My Unpopular Opinion About This Character

I don’t really have any unpopular opinion on him, unless not liking his return in post game counts! He could’ve worked! Just… not like that

One Thing I Wished Would Happen/Had Happened With This Character In Canon

BOB HATING MAR!! The very few times we’ve seen them interact in Post Game they seemed cool with each other, and that feels wrong to me! With the lore we have now, we know that Mar was the one who killed Punnyatta instead of Hank. He’d hate both Mar and Floop I think, and probably held a bit of resentment towards C!Fail, Chi, and Erica for being so willing to be on a party like this while knowing and experiencing first hand all the awful things Mar did to the world!

The Failtopia High School AU

I think it's high time I actually posted about this au!

It's exactly what it sounds like: I put everyone in high school!

The grades are as follows:

Freshmen (9th Grade): Shrimp, Chat

Sophomores (10th Grade): Chi, Lanc, Deko, Joker, Big Bill

Juniors (11th Grade): Erica, Failboat, Friend, Rose, Pirahnyawn, Bo

Seniors (12th Grade): Orion, Mar, Simple Bob, Smuk

Bonus: Petunyawn and Slapo are both in middle school (7th grade, to be precise)

The AU still takes place in Miitopia, so everyone is still whatever variety of nonhuman they originally are, but Chat and Friend look a lot more humanoid.

Most of them are band kids (and I will post what sections they're in eventually, or sooner if someone asks about them!). Kronkui is the band director, because I think that's the closest think high school has to a god (trust me, I'm a band kid, I would know).

Relationships: Lee in this AU is Friend's ex who goes to a different school, Rose and Pirahnyawn have the most superficial and strained relationship you've ever seen, Chi and Lanc are in that limbo of are-we-friends-or-are-we-dating, and Erica and Bo definitely like each other but nobody has made a move yet.

Other trivia: The school is called Greenhorn High and the mascot is the Banshees!

Honestly, this the perfect Failtopia hot take. Hurts the soul to read, but there's a very good and correct argument for it.

I think the specific phrasing is here is correct, there was zero need for her to come back. There are only five or so characters in Failtopia with any actual plot relevance, and she is not one of them.

But the same could be said about literally any S1 character who isn't named Failboat or Erica. Even characters with a lot of depth to them, like Simple Bob or Rose, are not important to the overarching story at all, and while I'd be very interested in seeing how they'd be handled for S2, they would inevitably fall into the same position of being sidelined for the other two as Chi was. Not because they're insignificant, or simple comic relief, but because the other two are just too important.

So, with all that in mind, I think Daniel Failboat made the right choice in bringing Chi back. He didn't need another narrative-driven character when he already had the big two, he just wanted a fan-favourite who had interesting dynamics with the first two, and who's the only character other than Failboat who had a significant dynamic with Erica? Chi, who's also someone the fans really liked.

It wasn't a necessity, but almost nothing in Failtopia is a necessity. It's just good to have her here.

Any headcanons you have regarding the season one Miis? Smuk, Simple Bob, etc.?

I'll do one for every S1-exclusive party member.

Simple Bob got his nickname from exclusively using the basic warrior techniques in his demon hunts, which he had mastered, but would not be very efficient in an RPG combat system, hence why he starts out at Level 1 at the beginning of the adventure.

Smuk is half-ogre, and lived in a swamp house with his parents until he was eighteen. Once he learned how, he did most of the cooking for his family, which propelled him into becoming a chef, and having a childlike curiosity about exploring the culinary arts in battle.

Deko was born with the name Izuku Midoriya, but due to his whole "not having a Quirk" thing, he tossed out that name as soon as he signed up for the lab experiment that turned him into an imp. He chose his new name based on his project name: DEK-0.

Lanc barely ever wore the wigs that came with their outfits, because they felt unnecessarily limiting, and since they're free from their dad's castle for once in their life, the last thing they want to feel like, is limited. They still used one for the finale, to "look professional".

Rose, after fully embracing her theft of Rosalina's identity post-S1, mothered the Lumas for about a year, until the real Rosalina won custody back. She did not enjoy the experience, and is terrified upon finding out her ex-boyfriend apparently has a daughter.

Pirahnyawn did, in fact, list Rose as Petunyawn's godmother on his will, but since he didn't remember her surname, "Rose" is all it reads, which isn't too helpful. He mainly did it to spite her for the breakup, but also because he knows no-one else with parenting experience.

Joker isn't actually Joker from Persona 5. He is a completely different guy named Ren Amamiya, who happens to look similar to Joker, so when he decided to infiltrate the party to make sure they continued buying from his family's shop, he used Joker as his disguise.

Hi! Hope this ask finds you at a good time.

I was wondering what your favorite members of the Failtopia cast are to write about? From both seasons.

Chi is far and away my favourite character to write, I'll start with that. Whenever I get the opportunity to write her, my fingers type at an insane rate, I'm constantly getting fun ideas on how to characterise her, and what insane situations she can get herself into! I think my writing style really started to form when I started writing her in ITB.

Other than that, Erica and Bo have such good lore surrounding them, I always enjoy delving into that, Chat is a lot like Chi in their insanity, making an effort to actually characterise C!Fail feels rewarding, and Simple Bob's inner monologue comes almost as naturally to me as Chi's does, I'm not even sure why, and I've definitely gotten into the groove of writing Lanc after how long ITF has been going on.
