Held a very polite bald faced hornet the other day

I dont know why it was on the floor and not bothered by me holding it, but it was an interesting experience

Could've been cold or exhausted, though they're generally not aggressive unless they're near their nest. Very cute either way!

dolichovespula maculata (bald-faced hornet) that took a moment to groom herself as I was taking pictures. <3

Spilomyia fusca, large hoverfly that does an excellent job of mimicking a bald-faced hornet (Dolichovespula maculata). Really neat fly that I’ve wanted to see for a while!

In the second clip, taken just moments after, you can see a real D. maculata butchering a horsefly. Flies are common prey for the hornets, so the mimicry of S. fusca might afford it some protection from its own model as well as other predators.

this sweet angel kept me company this morning after i found him sleeping on the side of the house. i put my finger in front of him and he quickly woke up, then climbed onto my finger almost immediately, which was surprising, and very endearing.

i spent some time in the yard, all the while he was walking between my hands, sipping leftover sugar on my skin from the donut i had for breakfast, or simply resting on my fingertips as i walked around. he flew off after a good half an hour/forty minutes. i was shocked he didn’t leave earlier. definitely one of the longer encounters i’ve had with a wasp, especially a bald faced.

I really hope we get to see Solas when he was ‘-Young, hot-blooded and cocky’ in Veilguard.

BioWare already confirmed the story will be told more visually instead of relying on codex entries. Does this mean flashbacks? Young Solas flashbacks?? I can only dream (…and draw).
