also the rayllum scene is once again at the lodge and with different lighting so it either takes place before or after and i pray it's after

okay since I'm running a PG-13 Curse of Strahd game in which my players specifically asked for it to not be too scary, and this party of ex-burglars and thieves responded really well to their old boss being the one who sent them to Barovia, I'm gonna go full-speed ahead on a pretty big tone change

which is that instead of this campaign being a horror crawl

I'm gonna try to frame Curse of Strahd as a giant heist mission

THEIR MISSION (should they choose to accept it):

Steal three magic artifacts out from under the noses of Strahd's associates. The first is in a hidden safe in the Abbey, the second they'll have to sneak out past Baba Lysaga, and the third is in a high-security treasure vault deep in the Amber Temple.

Assemble a crew. They'll meet many people in Barovia but there are two fated companions who'll be of the most help: Pidlwick II has intimate knowledge of the layout of the castle. Ez has experience dealing with supernatural bullshit and can advise on how to get past all of Strahd's goons.

Case the joint. Somehow they need to get invited into Strahd's castle so that they can poke around, learn about his defenses, plan their entry and exit, and figure out how to best dismantle his entire operation from the inside without him catching wise to their plan.

Then, once the final plan is in place, they strike.

And then idk they kick his ass, take over his castle, take all his money, steal his carriage, and ride off into the sunset.

listen, as a timebomb shipper of course i am sad about how arcane ended. however as an ezko shipper i'm pretty excited by the potential for ezreal to be the one to heal ekko's broken heart and help him move on to something new and exciting.

i am still going by nebulous canon that they meet while ezreal is researching oshra va'zaun. (which i will never give up no matter what arcane says, how else would a temple to janna, a shuriman goddess, have ended up in the depths of zaun-)

just imagine. ekko all prickly and unhelpful until ezreal proves that he has no intent to exploit zaun for anything and is genuinely just in it for the thrill of the adventure and to prove his uncle's theories correct. ekko would be loathe to admit it at first but it would be pretty cool to dig up an important piece of zaun's heritage and to retain complete control over it. yes, ez wants to bring at least one artefact home to prove a point to the academy, but that still leaves the entire vault of resplendent hollies and everything in it with zaun. and let's be real, with the barest amount of suggestion ezreal would absolutely be down to rob zaunite artefacts from piltovan museums and give them to ekko. he has no loyalty to piltover whatsoever.

ez and ekko pulling late nights pouring over ezreal's notes, half of which are in ancient shuriman, and ekko's maps and insider knowledge of the layout of zaun... the eureka moment when they realize together that they might have found an entrance... ekko realizing that despite everything he suddenly feels a little anxious about letting ezreal go off by himself to maybe get killed because he accidentally got a bit attached to this birdbrain's wellbeing... 🥰

Warnings: a child?

Summary: Tamlin rushes out when he hears his son screaming from his office. He finds the young heir in a predicament.

A/N: This can be read as a standalone. A case study on Daddy!Tamlin if you will.

There were very few things that terrified Tamlin anymore. Not after the ordeal under the mountain and the years after. The day Lucien and subsequently Elain, was abducted by Koschei was one. He would never forget the panic of Rhysand’s in his head explaining what happened. And the help he needed. That day was so long ago, Tamlin no longer had nightmares about it, thank the mother.

When he married Flora was another. He still didn’t understand for months how she could agree to be his wife. He buried his fears but he also waited on bated breath for her to change her mind. It took a lot of healing to move past it. Watching his son being born was also terrifying but in the best way possible.

But he had to admit, out of all of it, hearing his three year old son screaming like he was being murdered was the worst of them all.

Tamlin could hear him outside from his office. He nearly threw the door off the hinges, frantically trying to get to him. He paused for a second, listening for which end to go, forgetting the layout of his own home. He went right, sprinting down the hall and following it around the corner. He kept running, the halls shockingly empty. Did everyone go to his son? He finally found the door that led out to the gardens. As he flung open the door he almost ran into Elain.

“Thank goodness, I was coming to get you-“

“Where is he?” The words came out harsher than intended.

“With Flora.” She pointed to the right. “He shifted and-“

He didn’t give her time to finish. He ran around the house and found them near the fountain. His son's incoherent screams turned into a chant.

“Papa!” His son wailed through loud tears. “Papa please!”

Tamlin froze at the sight before him. His poor wife, kneeling and holding their son against her while he cried. Flora was obviously doing her best to soothe him. But that wasn’t what had Tamlin frozen in place. His son looked up at him with his red rimmed green eyes.

“Papa- won’t- go!” was all he could understand.

His poor boy had grown antlers out of his head. Tamlin also could see the end of a tail coming out his pants, the tip poofy with fur. In a blink, Tamlin closed the distance, kneeling beside Flora. He pulled the back of his son's trousers down, just enough to free the tail.

“Oh Ez,” Tamlin muttered, still a little shocked.

His boy’s sobs turned to sniffles as, squirmed out of his mother’s grasp and went to Tamlin. He lifted him up against his chest holding him tight.

“I don’t like it,” Ez buried his face against his fathers chest. “I don’t like it papa!”

Tamlin made eye contact with Flora. She looked worse for wear, hair frizzled and the top of her dress soaked in their baby boy’s tears.

“He was playing with the other children and- I don’t know what happened.” Flora explained. “He can’t make them disappear. I told him you could fix it but he wouldn’t budge.”

Tamlin rubbed his hand along Ez’s back trying to comfort him. Flora gestured to the stones- the they had crushed, little claw marks embedded in them. He nodded in understanding.

“Ez,” he whispered gently. “I’m going to put you down alright?”

“No!” He screamed and clung tighter. Claws Tamlin didn’t know were present on his hands dug into his shoulders.

“Sunshine,” Tamlin whispered. “You’re going to have to stand so I can help you. I need to see to make them go away.”

His son whimpered into his chest. It took a few more minutes of coaxing but he finally let go. Now standing, Tamlin assessed the damage. Claws on his hands, his shoes were destroyed with paws and more claws coming out of them. Thankfully other than the antlers and tail, he looked normal.

“You’re so brave Ez. I’m going to make them go away but you have to be still. Do you need mama to help?”

“No papa.”

Tamlin reached out and hovered his hands over the horns. Using his shapeshifting magic, he shrunk them. Ez ended up squirming, Flora moved behind him just in case she needed to hold him. Tamlin moved to the tail next since he knew how uncomfortable that was from experience. He straightened the pants on him once it was gone. Finally, he retracted the claws and fixed his feet.

“Let’s get these off, hm?” He said and gently pulled off the ruined shoes.

“Can you fix it?” Ez said through little gasps.

“I’m not sure.” That made Ez let out a screaming wail. “We can try. Ez, look at me.” He said gently. He still cried but looked at his father. “I will do my best. If I can’t fix it, I will get you a new pair.”

Ez nodded solemnly. Flora moved back around beside Tamlin and pulled out a handkerchief.

“Can mama wipe your face?” She asked. Ez nodded and she gently wiped up the tears and snot. “All better. You did so good for papa. Do you want to go back and play?”

“My shoes,” he whimpered, pointing at them.

“I think you can play in the dirt with your bare feet just this once,” Tamlin smiled at him. “But you can’t fight your mama or Lainy during bath time.”

“Okay papa.”

It was as if nothing had happened, the giddiness returned and he ran off to join the other children again a few yards away. Flora let out a heavy sigh and leaned against her husband.

“How often did this happen when you were a youngling?” She asked, taking his hand in her own.

Tamlin slumped back onto his feet, unable to reply. Too often. He wanted to say. The Blessing of Spring was a curse for him as an Heir. Too often and each time was met with punishment or disdain. His brothers alone tormented him into shifting on purpose. Then when he was older, his own father would force him to shift just to prove himself. Flora seemed to realize he was in his head; she squeezed his hand.

“You were so good with him,” she added. “He knew you’d take care of him, Tam. You're a good father.”

He watched his son chase another youngling in the distance, carefree and giggling. A stark contrast to his own childhood. He squeezed her back, a silent agreement that she was right.

The biggest renovation was definitely the kitchen.

While most of the furniture and decor remained the same as the cabin, the location and layout was completely changed. Alyse also crafted a new table and some matching stools, thus officially retiring the outdoor eating area.

“So what are you two gonna do today?” the handywoman asked the newlyweds. They were the only three up.

“I need to go harvest the garden and take care of the animals,” Kallie said. “Then I might make some more flour and butter.”

“I might go fishing,” Eze replied. “Being by the sea makes me feel better sometimes when I’m… riled up,” he added.

Kallie looked at her husband carefully.

“Are you feeling a transformation coming on?” she asked him. “It’s not the full moon, is it? I’m usually better at remembering the phases…”

“No, it’s not… it’s still days away… It’s just me, and all of these stupid feelings. Even being happy triggers me,” he chuckled. “And I’ve never been happier.”

“Aw,” Kallie smiled.

“Blergh,” Alyse made a face of pure disgust. “Some of us are trying to eat here.”

I got really stressed because I want my grades to be good and for that I need to study

I love you guys!! I started writing to share my silly little ideas and didn't expect so many people to like them, especially some people that made me write in the first place and my idols (Ciel, Eros, literally all of my silly mooties). You've all made my silly little journey so much better and trust me if I didn't have any mutuals at all I would be so scared to interact with anyone </3.

Now, I'm gonna go make my layout as pretty as possible so that I don't have a random urge to change it.

Whoops I died for a bit there. It is, unfortunately, not quite over. Deets under the cut if you're inclined, and if not I'll be back properly in a couple weeks.

Short version: Ow. Ow ow ow ow ow.

Long version: I am incredibly prone to repetitive stress injuries. This means I have to be very focused on ergonomics and keeping my wrists in particular happy with me since I'm a gamer and also work in the IT industry. So I had a fun split keyboard (the Ergodox EZ, if you're curious) and it kept me from being in pain all the time significantly more effectively than anything else I'd tried since the initial injury that has been haunting me for just shy of 7 years.

And that keyboard, after nearly 5 years of use, finally bit it in a way that I couldn't just fix on my own. So I have my backup keyboard, which is a traditional layout, and the pain returned instantly. I've got a replacement ordered but because it's not an off-the-shelf thing, but rather custom built by ZSA, I have about two weeks until it gets here, if I'm lucky. Which means about two weeks of minimal gaming and typing.

Took me thirty minutes to write this :( So just silence and the occasional like from me until it gets here and set up the way I need it. Then I'll be back to my usual analysis-posting :)

The Werewolf Cave

Here there be spoilers.

Truly, I don’t think anything compares to the bullshit that we pulled there. The details of the plan are fuzzy, probably because there was no plan. That was the first use in our campaign of “fuck it, we ball” and probably the one that could’ve backfired the most.

Essentially, my dhampir ranger got herself captured and shoved into the cave so she could relay the layout of it to the cleric via Sending. I tried to convince the children to revolt against their captors while our Warlock invisibly moved around the cave, taking stock of how many people we’d have to fight through. We got Zuleika on our side by going “oh, hey, we met Emil in Ravenloft!” So we had her.

We ended up just abandoning that plan in favor of the Warlock picking up things and running invisibly towards the entrance to get some of the guards around the kids away. It was SUCH a stupidly close call.

We ended up getting the kids out through one of the ways out Zuleika told us about.

We have Ez and our druid hiding out near the cave. We have Leo fucking Dilisnya (who is FREAKING out at the stupidity of it all), our cleric, and our bloodhunter a little ways off.

Kiril starts to return early, and so our druid summons a bunch of giant bats(?) and we start loading the kids up onto their backs and flying with them to Krezk. Does that sound dumb? It’s because it was. Our DM had the druid and warlock rolling at disadvantage to keep all the kids on the backs of the bats because it was storming. Somehow.

Somehow.

Somehow they made it to Krezk through using ALL of our inspiration.

The party ended up splitting because Kiril went after the ones that stayed behind, and it all kinda went to shit, but my god, did we save the kids. Granted, Krezk ended up sustaining a MASSIVE attack by Kiril’s pack that killed some NPCs. But uh. Yeah.

I think that’s our wildest? It ties with actually bringing back Leo Dilisnya in my mind.

so, i really like fighting games. always have. i'm not exactly the best at them but i do have a lot of fun playing them with buddies!~

this stick was originally a SSF4 XB360 Chun-Li TES but I've replaced the home panel PCB with JasenCustom's MadCatz TE EZ Mod to keep the home panel functional (except the TURBO button is changed to TouchPad click functionality), swapped to a Brook P5+ board, got printed plexi with commissioned digital art of my Tekken 8 main in my preferred 2P colors for her (art was done by Carlos Martinez, who was a total joy to work with btw). I also changed the panel from a Viewlix layout to a Namco Noir layout, and finally got a new Qanba JOV8S lever and Gravity KS buttons for it. The modwork itself was time consuming but not overly difficult.

I still need to finalize some stuff (test the SJ2 cut, test inputs) AND I have more plans for her in the future (K-levers and potentially leverless panels, and if i wanna be REALLY silly I've been eyeballing installing the Brook retro fight board in it), but for now, I'm really happy with it! Can't wait to host another fightnight once I'm done with it.

I have a second TE that I was going to mod as well but honestly after finishing this one I'd rather just build a Panzer FS4 instead of rehabbing another TE. The Azucena TE is a special one to me with it's clear blue body and numbered release, but the other TE is just a standard RD2 one.

Project Sekai Teams But They're Made of Phantom Thieves (Pt.1)

At this point anything is possible. I've finished VBS and WxS, gotten halfway through nightcord. next part will be Leo/Need and MMJ when I get around to reading more of their stories. I put stamps to rep the characters.

VBS was the easiest to do tbh, the alt makes sense too. I like either layout. Nightcord on the otherhand was actually very difficult to place. Like all the characters in Nightcord make sense to me, they would share an empty sekai, but like the personalities are different (cept for mafuyu that was ez). WxS is wacky and moreso based off personalities because if it was based off of role then Futaba would be Rui and Ren/Akira would be Nene easily. Ren gets in all of these because he's a man of many faces LMAO. Not the last two though, I have a pretty good idea of MMJ and Leo/Need but I want to read more before I post them tbh.

Nova's micro garden railway: interim planning post #1

brief update on the garden railway project, it's still in the planning stage but I've made a few ammendements to the track plan

for the sake of clarity this was the innitial track plan

And this is the new, ammended, plan, it already feels like I have so much more space to work with

Changes include altering the length/geometry of the main circuit in a few places, and completely redoing the branchline to feature a run-round loop. I've also hilighted the areas that will become a trestle bridge (the section in grey) and a stone cutting (I had to use a tunnel in the layout design program but needs must).

I've also found a free-to-use printable model railway trestle, which is perfect for my needs, I can tweak it as needed in tinkercad to conform to the curves

one challenge I need to tackle will be building the trackbed foundation, as it needs to be raised from the bottom of the planter and conform to a gradient on the branchline. I do have a potential solution half ready in the form of some printable roadbeds that I conceived as a way to turn Peco 009 track into a floor-ready system not unlike Bachmann EZ-Track, though it remains untested at this time.

I think what I'll end up doing is add a hidden trestle to the enderside of the roadbed sections so they can be screwed to the bottom of the planter. The longevity of PLA (Poly-Lactic Acid) filament in an outdoors enviroment is a concern, but I'll probably just drown the sections in enamel paint to waterproof them.
