On Luffy's birthday, I wanna remind all of you that one of the things that makes him one of the most influential and ground-breaking shonen protagonists is that he makes things happen. No fate or prophecy or destiny leads his path. He's the one choosing, freely, what he wants to do and he will do it. And in consequence, he makes things happen in the manga that affect everybody around him. The story doesn't tell him what to do and instead, he is the one telling how the story should go. That and the fact that his whole character is meant to spread the message of following your dreams and living with laughter and joy are the reasons why celebrating his existence is so important to so many.

I did think about giving him a Nickit, but I wanted everyone to have unique ones, and. well. there is another character who fits Nickit even more.

Ace WOULD also have a Nickit on his team though! I also really liked someone's suggestion of Zorua for him (I think it would be like...a very sarcastic Zorua though) (actually that's amazing, hold on). he gets all the sneaky pokemon. although I kinda want to give him a Pidgey or something, because 1) wind magic and 2) Ace is the closest thing NRC has to a normal person, he should have the most painfully normal pokemon there is.

to everyone in my notes on the decked out trophies post going "scar won????" incredulously, i am delighted to inform you that scar is actually one of the most competent decked out players. like he also got really lucky in several of his runs and was focusing on winning the phase to an extent no one else was this early on, both of which contributed to his victory. but like. all statistics indicate that he's an extremely solid player, despite every goofy reaction, scar-ism, and predicted ridiculous death. and it's beautiful.

Amidst all this talk about what kind of/"level" of abusive Gabe is in the show compared to the book, I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention the exchange where Percy says he got kicked out for assaulting a girl, and Gabe says “Okay” in an almost impressed and approving tone, and all he has to say about that is, “but while you’re under my roof, you follow my rules.” And as he says this, the camera cuts to a close up on Percy, who looks confused and somewhat suspicious about Gabe’s reaction to Percy (allegedly) hitting a girl.

They packed a LOT of red flags into that scene, but this one really stood out to me.
