With the amount of Clones created, there was always going to be an overlap of names.
Marshall Commander Cody of the 212th was not the only Cody.
Jesse of the 501st shared a name with many soldiers across many battalions.
There were so many Foxes, younger Clones naming themselves after the Marshall Commander of the Coruscant Guards in a bout of hero worship.
But there was a set of Clones on each Venator that, after passing their normal tests and combat training, went into specialized training before their assignments. A majority of them didn’t have names before the specialized training, and those that did, weren’t really attached to their names and chose their new names amongst the others they worked with.
Obi-Wan met them on the flight deck, the group disembarking from the drop ship and saluting the Jedi.
All of them would join in on the battles and train with the others during hyperspace flight, but it was fairly quick to see that these soldiers worked together in a specific way.
“May I know your names?” Obi-Wan asked. He was still hesitant in asking, knowing names could be a private thing amongst the soldiers.
“My name is Spoon, sir!”
“Cup, sir!”
“I’m called Whisk!”
Eyebrows rose, and a glance to Cody told Obi-Wan that this group was a bit of a surprise to him.
“Are all of you working in the mess hall?” Obi-Wan, not bothering to hide his amusement.
“Of course, sir,” Whisk answered. “We’re all trained in ways to make the nutripaste more appealing, and not to give the soldiers food poisoning. We also know how and what to hunt and forage in case we run low on supplies during a campaign.”
“I see,” Obi-Wan said. And it did make sense. Many Padawans got the same training, especially if their missions took them to the more remote planets.
Obi-Wan continued to smile as he got the names of Fork, Lid, Pan, Pot, and Kettle, but he paused when he heard a second Spoon. He glanced back at the first one for a moment before looking at the second one.
“It’s not often that squad mates share a name,” he offered.
The second Spoon shrugged. “You can call me little Spoon if it helps, sir, but it’s silly if a kitchen only has one Spoon in it.”
The snort of amusement from Cody was more surprising than anything, and Obi-Wan accepted the explanation with a nod and chuckle of his own.

The Organas and the Lars family are all well aware that the children they’re raising each have a sibling somewhere in the far reaches of the galaxy. They can never say anything, since Luke and Leia would be in grave danger if the truth of their heritage were to get out, but sometimes the twins’ adoptive families can’t help but think about the other child that they will never know.
Breha notices her daughter’s title causes her to struggle with finding companions her own age and wonders if that loneliness might have been lessened had the twins never been separated. Sometimes, she imagines taking Leia’s brother by the hand and introducing him to the people of Alderaan as a beloved member of the Organa family just like his sister.
Beru starts stitching a family tree -a tradition among slaves and former slaves on Tatooine, meant to bring together families that were separated by slavery- but struggles to finish it when she realizes it’s too dangerous to include her niece. After the war, Luke and Leia create their own, and Leia displays her connection to the Lars family line like a badge of honour.
Bail is always concerned about Luke’s wellbeing somewhere in the back of his mind. The Lars family are supposed to be good, hardworking people, but even under Obi-Wan’s protection, Tatooine is a hostile place to live: especially compared to a temperate core world planet like Alderaan. Since he is unable to directly intervene so far out in Hutt Space, his contacts within the rebellion are occasionally tasked with checking in on the state of things in and around Tatooine’s settlements. On the occasions where Owen and Beru found themselves struggling to put food on the table, an off-world traveller would soon arrive offering to pay handsomely for something like mechanical help or a ride to Anchorhead.
Owen tries not to dwell on what-if scenarios and focus on keeping his nephew safe, but raising a force sensitive child -much less a force sensitive child of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala- is stressful on the best of days. When people in town murmur under their breath about how odd the Lars boy is, he worries. Both that the empire will take the whispering about Luke being odd seriously, and that the little girl Obi-Wan told them about when he arrived with baby Luke hidden under his cloak might be put in danger by those same whispers.

Snippet #1 - Aftermath
Obi-Wan and Dragon!Anakin escape, with the main casualty being Anakin’s arm. This is the late-night, unedited, rambling edition of a conversation that comes later- after the reveal that Dragon!Anakin is In Fact Vader The Sith.
Dw tho. I’m sure things go fine later. Mace is gonna be thrilled.
•Snippet Below!•
“Vader… your arm needs treatment. This ship’s kit barely has a decent strip of bacta, you need professional medical treatment-“
“Then drop me off at the next spaceport, and go home, Obi-wan.”
The Jedi seemed torn, and at that he could only growl through clenched teeth. The room swayed, another flash of pain left him almost breathless, clouding his senses and adding to the fog coating his thoughts.
Obi-Wan was shaking his head. Why was Obi-Wan shaking his head?
“I’m not going to abandon you.”
“Why not?!”
“Because you are injured! Severely!”
“That has never stopped anyone before!” Anakin’s growl turned thunderous, eyes flashing sickly golden-yellow. Obi-Wan faltered, before setting his jaw and staring back just as fiercely.
“Jedi do not just discard their allies- their friends- so easily.”
“Good, because I am neither-“ Anakin hissed, irritation and pain fueling his ire against this stubborn, stupid old man. “- I am a Monster, Jedi Knight. Worse even- a Sith Monster.” He spat, teeth sharpening into fangs even as a white-hot pounding in his bones warned against any further shift.
“I don't need your mercy or your help.”
The sad look he got from Obi-Wan in response only stoked the flames. With a bitter curse he moved to stand- only to try and brace himself with his missing hand. A guttural cry ripped from his throat as the roughly-bandaged remains of his forearm failed him, sending him to the floor in a rather inelegant heap.
Or well- he would’ve ended up there had Obi-Wan not caught him. He fell limp against the Jedi, his remaining hand clutching the other’s robes as he let himself be guided down to their knees. The gentleness and care that Obi-Wan took startled him, so abruptly different from his usual existence. It felt utterly surreal, like this was all merely a fever dream.
“No monster would’ve saved my young padawan like you did- no sith would’ve taken the care to ensure safe escape for all those slaves at the camp.”
“…” Anakin shivered, falling into the warmth of the Jedi holding him up, breathing ragged and broken. His arm burned, his senses felt muddled- the force was muted in a way it never had been before and instinctively, he knew it was associated with the loss of his arm. It would never be the same again.
“I- I am no friend of the Jedi.” His voice felt hoarse, and his words lost their bite. He was pretty sure he’d reopened something and was bleeding all over Obi-Wan. “You and Ahsoka don’t count. You’re both crazy.”
He got a quiet chuckle at that.
“But I’m serious. What do you think will happen when you bring me back to that fancy temple of yours on Coruscant?”
“You’ll get medical treatment, and proper care afterwards. You have valuable information- a deal could be struck for your safety. A sort of witness protection.”
Anakin could only blink up at the man owlishly, his sheer naivety astounding. “Obi-Wan…. I’ll be put in suppressing cuffs and thrown in the brig. They’ll torture whatever information they want out of me and then kill me if they know what’s good for them.”
Even before he was done talking, the other’s head was shaking ‘no’. Again. Damn him.
“Please- trust me. If you can’t trust the Jedi, trust in me. I won’t let your wounds go untreated- you lost your arm saving us, Vader. If you don’t get treatment now you may lose your life-“ his voice cracked, and to Anakin’s flagging consciousness, the emotion over something so trivial made absolutely no sense.
But… Obi-Wan believed it. The truth of his promise chimed out into the force, even muted as it was. He was so, so tired…..
“Fine.” He huffed, “do as you see fit.” Black spots flitted in and out of his vision- making his head hurt something fierce. He thought he may have heard his name being called as his eyes slid shut and he slumped against the warmth at his side- but he was unconscious again before it could matter.
Obi-wan was left holding his new charge- hoping desperately that he wasn’t making some horrible, horrible mistake.

RexObi Week Part 2/7 - Previous / Next
Day 2: Cave Exploration Track: 'Sun' - Sleeping At Last (Spotify / YouTube)
"Do you really know where we are going Kenobi?"
"Faith my dear, have faith."
"I do, but I also have a perfectly good beach behind me that we completely bypassed to wander around these caves for something you still won't tell me about."
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, but his smile never wavered. They had headed out on a small excursion of sorts, Obi-Wan having read about the caves extensively before arriving on the planet. He had been trying to find things that may satisfy a man who is usually living his life in a much faster pace, and in his reading he had discovered something he really thought would do the trick. Caves that were interspersed with long cervices open to the sky above, threading and swirling over and around the coast. It created the perfect opportunity to explore, and some wonderful treasures hidden amongst the dark stone.
Or, at least, he hoped it was perfect. It was his first real moment of doubt as they came to another junction and there were more markings on the cave wall then he thought there should be. But he was pretty sure the partially written over symbol was the one he was looking for, and tried not to show his wavering as he headed to the right.
"Well then, I ask for your patience. We should almost be there."
"Should?"
"Ahem," Obi-Wan straightened himself, turning back toward Rex who stood taller then him anyhow. "I mean, we are."
Rex raised one lean eyebrow, the corner of his mouth going with it. It was honestly a look Obi-Wan couldn't help but associate with the clone even if it was someone else attempting it. Though no one could do it like Rex; the perfect arch, conveying so much that those on the other side of it never needed the question said. And with that smirk there was the addition of feeling like the punchline in a joke that one could never fully understand. Yet Obi-Wan would continue to tell the joke himself so long as it brought Rex this much joy, simmering beneath the surface of honey brown eyes. That if Obi-Wan was given the opportunity to see that smirk, that side eye of disbelief, the look that said nothing but doubt even though he knew Rex had absolute trust in him, then it was worth all of the laughter at his expense.
And when Obi-Wan's only response was to hold out his hand and Rex took it as easily as breathing, Obi-Wan felt that even if he did get them lost, as least they had gotten lost together.
It was an unnecessary worry though as the next bend showed light shining from below. Stone steps were carefully carved into the stone here, making the steep tunnel much easier to traverse. And Obi-Wan couldn't help the rush of excitement again. He could hear the gentle lap of water at the bottom, could see how it shone from further in as they descended, and happily squeezed Rex's hand without even realizing it until the clone laughed quietly.
"Excited, sir?"
Obi-Wan hoped a bit that the shadow of the caves was still strong enough to cover the blush, but he didn't deny it. He stopped to allow Rex to roll his pants up some, the water curling over the most bottom steps and their mesh covered feet, and then realized there was no chance he could hide as Rex reached out to take his hand again and he couldn't stop the smile from overtaking him.
"Perhaps a bit. From what I read it seems like it will be a beautiful spot."
"For what?" Rex asked innocently, Obi-Wan watching as he stepped into the water with him and the water alone made the clone smile softly.
"For you."
Rex's eyes flickered back up, and Obi-Wan made sure to let the adoration be plainly visible on him. That his thoughts on how much he wished to give Rex, how special he thought the clone was, and how much he loved him, was obvious. Even in the Force he allowed the feelings to reach out and let it swirl around Rex like the water beneath them. For just a moment the waterfalls could wait. For just a breath Obi-Wan let things stand still and his love for Rex be at the forefront of everything.
Then it was another quick squeeze of the hand, and a turn back into the cave. It was only a few more turns before the movement of water around their feet became drowned out by the thundering of falls, and the light finally began to truly pierce the darkness.
"Ready?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Have you ever known me not to be?" Rex responded boldly.
And with another small laugh of utter joy Obi-Wan led Rex around the last corner, to take in a sight that was full of life and light and joy. Greenery managing to grow amongst stone, light danced down the waterfall and sent cascading reflections across the roof of the cave they were in, birds flew and danced about each other, both playfully clumsy and gracefully beautiful in the funnel to the blue skies above. There were even flowers demanding the chance to live even this far down, and there were new endless tunnels sprouting away from them to be explored.
"It's beautiful," Rex breathed next to him. And Obi-Wan couldn't help but turn toward him, take in once again how the light around Rex made him look so bright and full of life. How it sparkled in his eyes and the water reflected across him.
"Yeah, beautiful."
And if the clone caught the horribly cheesy attempt at flirting, and then kicked water at the near lovesick Master Jedi, only for said Jedi to return the the water with raucous laughter and the start a near juvenile splashing match, then that is only for them and the parrots squawking happily above to know about.

He had a name before he was assigned to a battalion, even though everyone called him Shiny until he proved himself in battle. Though once he did earn the right, he decided to stick with the name given to him by the other cadets.
“I’m called Two Tone,” he told his Captain, who raised an eyebrow. To the silent question, he shrugged. “No one told me why.”
And that was the truth. He wasn’t inclined to whistle or sing. He got the name long before he reached the age of his voice cracking in forced puberty. Just one day in class, one of his batchmates laughed and called him Two Tone, and it stuck.
Somehow, he never figured out why he was called that until after a joint battle with General Unduli and General Kenobi, fighting to take back a planet from the Separatists, at the request of the local government. Everyone was giving him weird looks ever since he had painted his armor, and he just told himself it was probably because of the design. He always had problems getting it correct on his armor, and he didn’t want to ask someone for help, so he was stuck with his own quality.
Cleaning up after the fight was normal, trudging around the battlefield to find any fallen comrades and equipment, seeing the medic if hurt, packing things away again. Two Tone thought it was weird when he didn’t bump into anyone from the 212th, but figured it was because they might have been on the other side of the battlefield. He did his best sticking to his brothers as things began to get loaded into the LAAT/is, tired and quiet as he road the drop ship up to the Venator.
He assisted with unloading things, feeling the ship shudder faintly as it transitioned into hyperspace, though his movements came to a halt as he saw General Kenobi walking by the area. Frowning, he turned to the Clone beside him.
“Why isn’t General Kenobi with the 212th?”
The Clone frowned at him. “This is the 212th…”
Two Tone prided himself on being levelheaded, so when he started to panic so hard that General Kenobi came to an abrupt stop and looked at him, he was proud that he didn’t run away or collapse or simply imploded.
“Are you all right, dear one?” General Kenobi asked and a part of Two Tone’s mind was amused to learn that the rumors were correct about the endearing terms the man used.
“I apologize, sir,” Two Tone managed to squeak out. “But… I was assigned to General Unduli… I’m on the wrong ship.”
General Kenobi’s head tilted to the side curiously, glancing over Two Tone’s armor.
“Have you been tested for colorblindness?” the General asked curiously.
***
“Deuteranopia colorblindness,” Obi-Wan said, giving Luminara a faint smile. “The poor man was so embarrassed. Evac tested him and decided to do a ship wide test. Apparently colorblindness isn’t too uncommon among the Clones.”
The holo of the Jedi Master shook her head, a fond sigh escaping her. “When he painted his armor orange and green, I thought he was living up to his name. I am glad to hear that we hadn’t lost him in battle.”
“No, just temporarily misplaced,” Obi-Wan said with a chuckle.
“Joint custody then, until you can return him to me?”
“Well keep him safe, I promise you.”

See it’s so weird like I want ewan to come back as obi-wan even more than ever now since Hayden is back as anakin (and is doing *amazing* as him) but also like I don’t trust obi-wan’s character with filoni and I really don’t think we’re gonna see him next week which is totally fine and probably better for it imo.
But also the part of my braincell that is starved for obi-wan and Ahsoka content really wants to see them reunite post-order 66 (and this is something I’ve wanted for a LONG time) and I think it would be so interesting to see post-kenobi series or something but the thing is
If they do something like that then filoni will have to be involved which would just. well then it would just be another example of obi-wan’s character being pushed aside for the sake of ahsoka’s.
Which is exactly why I don’t foresee it happening. Even though I want it but I also don’t want it. My brain is confused.
Also it’s 3am and I can’t sleep. I seem to make these posts when this happens so here we are.
Anyways what I realistically want is either a smaller-scale kenobi season 2 where obi-wan hangs out on tatooine and vibes with force ghost qui-gon, *or* a spin-off focused on the path where obi-wan can have some sort of part in the network, setting up a part of it on tatooine or something? I feel like it would be a good follow-up to what he sees happen to Nari, like making sure that any other Jedi who find him on tatooine have somewhere safe to go and he can help them get there.
