Well hello there, Stardust! I feel like I'm in a bit of a predicament and something tells me it's your fault｡:✧˚*:･｡

-Releases another dragon(adjacent) Loop into the wild-

I commissioned the lovely @nycroshears to draw Loop as a Rukemi; one of my OC species that I'm shoving in an AU I've been working on! An AU that started out as a scene that popped in my head when I was falling asleep of a rukemi grabbing Siffrin by the scruff and making them confess to their family...which turned into a massive AU I've been outlining for weeks now.

Rukemis as a species idea are nearing 20 years old at this point! I think it's past time I debut them in more than a few commissions thrown into the uncaring void of tumblr every few years. I'm not going to talk too much about them now; that'll be revealed in the AU itself!

Fun facts about rukemis!

They're from a parallel Earth where the meteor that killed the dinosaurs glided past harmlessly.

They're descended from troodonts about 67-68mya who had a whack mutation that caused their front limbs to duplicate. They were very useless at first but others of the species found them SO ATTRACTIVE they ended up thriving and the wings over time evolved to be functional. So they are theropod dinosaurs, like t-rexes, velociraptors, and modern birds.

They evolved sapience not long before humans did after a smaller extinction event wiped out biodiversity in habitats adjacent to their native range.

Before they were relatively unassuming small tree-dwelling creatures similar to primates but with the bonus ability to fly. But with the new free real estate some of them branched out and rapidly evolved much larger sizes and intelligence comparable to our own. Now, they're roughly the size of small horses and stand about as tall as us when they're standing on all fours.

Now, parallel to our Earths, they exist a few hundred years more technologically "advanced" than us.

Their societal development was similar to ours at the start, including the destruction of their Earth's ecosystem, wars, oppression, and other fun things. But after ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ and ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ they mana▮ed to ▮▮▮▮ from the ▮▮▮s and bu▮▮d a ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮.

It was after they got their collective ▮▮▮▮ together that they gained the power to ▮▮▮▮▮▮ to other ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮▮, ma▮▮▮▮▮▮▮e ▮▮▮▮▮nts, h▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮ds, and ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ their ▮▮▮▮▮ into ▮▮▮▮▮ sop▮▮▮▮s upon ▮▮▮▮▮.

Now, many rukemis spend their lives trying to ▮▮▮▮ other ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ not ▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮ up like ▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮.

Their designs were based on ▮▮▮▮ from ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮ and originally looked like your standard middle-schooler's white wolf rainbow wings + horns OC that you can see (here), but after 20ish years of workshopping they're now their own dragon dinosaur species (and are much, much gayer). This design is the most accurate and all others in the link are older versions.

They have three main sexes that are impossible to tell apart at a glance and have a much looser and queerer relationship to "gender" and family.

They generally live in family units of 3-8 adults + their children (now, often including humans and other sophonts) and have a much more relaxed & shifting hierarchy than humans generally do.

They are nice, and soft and warm.

Enter Loop, just a normal rukemi who just wanted to live a normal life as an astronomer working to discover extraterrestrial life on other planets (because finding life on parallel Earths just wasn't cool enough for them). After an ▮▮▮▮▮▮ by a ▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮▮▮, they were thrown into the world of SASASAAP and eventually runs into Loop Siffrin struggling through their time loops all alone.

Originally, I created a random rukemi to aid ISAT Siffrin through the loops and join the family after they broke free of them. But after developing it for a while I realized I had no idea what to do with Loop so I just fused the two into one and tossed them into the Start Again world to help OG Siffrin instead.

(Sorry y'all, this Loop doesn't sparkle as they are made up of flesh and blood and not pure craft energy. They did get some cool "tattoos" some time before coming to SASASA:AP world looking like a celestial being, though! They look like the 2nd image to Siffrin. If they had more time they might found some glitter to make a more theatrical entrance.)

I tried my best here to replicate the splatoon art style, I'm not sure if that really shows but I tried! Either way this was really fun, especially doing the shading on Deis hacker jacket. The tentacles were also very fun!!! I love drawing splatoon tentacles :3

When I had this idea I thought it woulldd be a good idea to have like image things AND IT HELPED A LOT!!! I tried making their outfits and stuff match them, this process took 2 hours,,, although I am VERY set on the weapon choices. They would all use these no doubt in my mind. 2B charger main canon and you cannot convince me otherwise!!!!

You might be thinking where my drawing of 2B and Hank are since I have references of them, so here it is in an unfinished state. I didn't have the energy to finish it as the first drawing took 5 FUCKING HOURS,,,

I had SO much issue with Hanks tentacles. I mentally debated giving him tentacles for over 30 minutes. Ultimately deciding to give him them but it didn't look right,,, I might not even finish the second drawing anyway though

actually genuinely sad about how both awoiaf shows we have both dont choose to do interesting bold things with their fashion (GOT a lot more than HOTD, but still). they both seem so focused on being serious HBO television that they seem afraid of having any whimsical aspects to their costuming, or little effort to create and diversify the fashion shown. Like what are the differences between fashion in different regions of Westeros? How does the fashion develop over the years? It often feels toned down, and in HOTD's case like they are too afraid of retconning anything GOT established or didn't establish to properly build something to make this world feel fuller and less monotone. It's like they are afraid of getting too creative just in case someone might remember that they are watching a fantasy show, as if being a fantasy show is something it should be embarrassed about

I hope everyone's had a Great week and been able to work towards some of their overall goals and been able to get in their garden.

Lettuce regrow update~

6 days ago I posted dabout a lettuce regrow (9 days old at time of picture) they've gotten some growth in that time.

I did add to the lettuce bowl, a carrot top. Just to see if I can get it to sprout a flower stalk and maybe some seeds. (Added 3.13. 2023)

The celery has not much for movement, some spreading on the stalks. But haven't really seen any tangible rooting.

I had to pinch some flowers off the peppers, but their still a lil small for fruiting.

The Nasturtium is getting massive! I've gotta trim it up this week. I may even get around to trying a recipe with some of the leaves now. If not, the chickens will get the trimmings.

Last week's goals I managed a batch of bagels and pretzels! Unfortunatly I think I got far too ambitious because they did not come out as delicious as I hoped.

But I'm gonna give at least bagels a go again this week! If I make a good batch I'll be freezing half of them for use throughout the month.

Also something not too awesome happened, something got into my seed starts and destroyed them, so I will not be showing seed starts yet. Friday I plan on redoing them (well what I can. Since some of the variety I no longer have. Well, I guess it means a different variety was desired is all lol.

This week I hope to get new seed starts going and the start of my flower patch in the back going.

I also want to make a sourdough dessert and try to get a rough idea of a month's worth of meal planning so I can make some bulk purchases of what I consider staples for the kitchen. (Flour, rice, yeast, sugar, noodles, some sauces and seasonings)

I would like to get some sewing and craft done this week. But we'll see how that goes lol.

just got told by my mother that all of us have "incredibly gourmet" tastes because she saw me putting three pads of butter and a single cube of dill cheddar on a microwaved potato

she then went into a rant about how when she was my age we didn't have all these "fancy things like cocoa powder" (i was not using any cocoa powder)

this is the woman who constantly complains about how she shouldn't be eating every single goddamned thing under the sun and how we don't care about her and are trying to kill her (the fact that there is literally not a single place that sells anything but pizza and burgers around here for more than an hour in every direction and WE don't exactly like that state of affairs either seems lost on her), and every time i've ever attempted to come up with a list of things she might be able to have i've just gotten screamed at and accused of being selfish(????). she also has absolutely zero respect for our diabetes and once even told me i'm a spoiled princess that expects the world to kowtow to my will because i told her i can't eat a hypothetical dinner comprising entirely of a pile of cooked sweet potatoes) and functionally refuses to eat basically anything at all other than lobster, ice cream, and homemade rare steak, because everything else is "killing her" and she "shouldn't be eating that on doctor's orders" (she hasn't spoken to a doctor in years for anything other than covid). meanwhile she genuinely expects us to live on plain cooked noodles with a can of cold unseasoned tomato sauce on top and consistently gets pissy about gluttony if we so much as add cheese, and the only reason she isn't forcing us to eat that every damn day anymore is because we started refusing to eat it. she acts like she's deathly allergic(or more accurately she insists her ibs is so bad everything short of plain chicken will make her shit herself to death) to every single spice and the concept of flavor itself to the point that she literally acts like she'll die if a single flake of paprika, which she thinks is spicy, gets on her food and lately has been getting iffy even about garlic powder, and genuinely expects all of the rest of us to live like that too because she thinks quite literally more than about three leaves of oregano and two pads of butter per entire batch of chicken breasts is Wasteful Excess And Gluttony
