To cover one of history’s greatest jazz works in its entirety is bold, but to do what Otomo Yoshihide did here – to attempt (and arguably succeed in) building a record of equal stature, to use one tectonic record to inspire another - doesn’t just take bravery. It takes genius.

#YES THEM BEING THERE IS EXACTLY WHY I TOLD MY BROTHER TO GO THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE ('there' being tower records in japan)#but i find it so funny that the cashier actually remarked on that fact too#anyway. you need to know that i'm feeling so very AAAAHHHH right now. all of these are such a big deal to me#i didn't think i'd actually own KMH ON VINYL at any point#also utterly shocked about the guerilla toss CD. very exciting to have that one too#they're one of my fav bands and i implore everyone who likes unhinged and very experimental and cacophonic rock to check them out#this album (eraser stargazer) isn't the most accessible thing there is out there but i really love it#(i don't even know how to describe it properly. it's just really something to behold anyway)#the plushie is also a gift from my brother!! i'll gladly take any name suggestions for him#oh and also sparks debut album. first album that i own both on CD and vinyl as of today#it's not even that it's my fav sparks album or anything (i do really love it though and it's definitely somewhere in my top ten)#it's just that some albums feel more like they 'fit' with the vinyl format than CD in sound. to me at least#one other example of that besides this one being gratsax#ok i think that's all i have to say about this. one of the most epic hauls of my life that's for sure#OH WAIT one more thing. somewhat unfortunate actually#which is that my brother said he's pretty sure he saw a latte vinyl#but when he passed by that section again like 10 minutes later he already couldn't find it. oh latte.......#it's ok i'll have it one day. i'm really curious what went down there though. did someone really snag it in those 10 minutes???#and yes in case you're worried i did thank my brother profusely for getting me all this#and now i'm going to force him to listen to the TMBG vinyl with me so that he's PREPARED FOR THE CONCERT#that's in 3 months and that he's know about for a year and a half. ok i'm done now#goosepost

This feels obvious but maybe it's not so. The silence in Paladin Strait is. The strait. That's the crossing. He can't sing because he's schwimming. Right
#and obviously it'll be a big scene in the MV im sure but he said they wanted it to be a sonic experience first#because you're supposed to be in the paladin strait and you cross and get rewarded with the secret track#this doesnt even feel like it warrents a post im assuming everyone knows this i just think its NEAT#so i want to talk about it#twenty one pilots#clancy#tyler joseph#josh dun#there's some really interesting sound design stuff on this album that theyve never done before#like the silent break & then also the intro to vignette with the strings and the vulture cry callback#and how they crafted the album as a loop that enhances itself by Being looped#i wish they got more experimental more often in terms of song structure like i would love an ambient / field recording mixtape by tyler#or loooooong instrumental breaks#i genuinely believe tyler is on a trent reznor level of production diversity but tøp is almost strictly a verse chorus 3-5 min song band#even if they play with structure and genre within that#like i wish tyler would make some fuckin merzbow type shit im so serious i think he could. he never will though wah

#lol i finally made a reference list of movies/shows/books/bands ive wanted to check out instead of letting them rot in my ignored tabs#+ bookmarked a few academic-ish articles/interviews ive been meaning to read/listen to#unrelated#im so sad abt my old laptop dying before i was able to put all my pdfs on a drive#i had soooo so so many interesting works on there that my professors gave us for free..#plus i do wish i could reread some of the papers i wrote for my nonmajor classes#i took a few anthropology courses n they were always so interesting#perhaps ill grab the physical books i have outta the basement n give 'em a read since im not stressed for time on trying to rly understand#another sidenote#in my experimental documentary course my professor gave us this film resource where u basically had access to any film ever with a valid#school library. i kick myself all the time for not taking advantage of that#big sigh. i miss filmmaking. i miss intentionally making art. i miss feeling creative#okay goodbye !#rAMbles
