what a good day for new(ish) music for exie!

first up, one of my all time fave bands- billy talent- rereleased their 1999 ska album watoosh! originally released under the name pezz

i have been pirating this album for ages, never thought i would ever have an official copy! it’s so so so good and i love that i can listen to it in a way that’s actually going to support the band. nita my beloved you’re mine 😭

next up, bad omens with the concrete jungle ost release. this is probably the coolest version of a deluxe album i’ve ever heard. i love the idea of reimagining the previously released album instead of just rereleasing it with a few bonus tracks. i will say; not every track on this album is my cup of tea. end of the day i prefer the original but there are some pretty cool moments on the ost! and having live recordings fucks too- i love hearing the differences between live vs studio versions

this is like. not a real issue but out of all the ways kevin gets mischaracterized i think my least favorite is when people assume he is a sore loser and, specifically, will be one when the foxes lose against the trojans. 1) kevin has been playing exy for as long as he has been able to pick up a racquet, he is more than used to losing gracefully and probably had to learn it the hard way 2) the foxes lose a whole lot. like a Lot. they’re a bad team. when they first lose to the ravens kevin’s reaction is to say that despite their flaws he was happy with their performance, because he is not stupid and he knows when they are not evenly matched against a better opponent 3) he LOVES the trojans. he knew the trojans would beat the foxes in tkm and he was still just happy to be in their court. he warned jeremy to not throw away their game even if he was certain the foxes were going to lose if jeremy didn’t. if there is one thing kevin doesn’t do in exy it’s underestimate his opponents and, especially for the trojans’ case, there is very little in the world he’d like to see better than jean winning with the trojans. cope. stop fantasizing about kevin day getting humbled like he’s your middle school bully

Not to start drama because I know everyone thinks she's the "good one" out of the foxes, but I swear "Renee" is from my hometown and she was kind of known for hanging around with the wrongs types of people if you catch my drift. Renee isn't her real name and it's a widely known rumor that she actually killed a guy a long time ago. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I've never seen anyone talking about it soo.....

as of right now i have two ideas which are not really that distinct but cause me great amusement... first i thought about established pro era kevthea and jean ending up in the same team as them (possibly the olympics?) while being a trainwreck himself and kevthea immediately taking him under their wing :) this is like the standard aftg poly fic scenario and i fall for it all the time because it's so GOOD. i think at first kevin's the one who's kind of laying it heavy on jean because he's worried he might do something stupid but thea is ultimately the one drawing jean by the back of his neck and being like you're acting ridiculous. live with us. and he does... AND THEN OF COURSE the evergreen offer of a threesome, the unbearable tension, the constant mistaking of jean as either kevin's or thea's boyfriend, being so close it gets inappropriate. the perfect culmination i think would be a night where they actually do sleep together and jean wakes up under kevin and thea like what the fuck just happened

AND I DONT THINK THEY EVER TALK ABOUT IT. or like define terms. or even boundaries. but it happens and its there and jean is just casually added to their every activity like hes always been there in the first place :) i think theres something just so fun about a dynamic like that for poly ships sorry sorry sorry. jean thinks he's a single man until it's christmas 2011 and he's having dinner with thea's family

my Other idea was well of course the nest-era moment. i was thinking thea has a the boy is mine moment with jean until she realizes that jean has a crush on her too and she's Very flustered about it because it's definitely not what she expected would happen out of this situation. i don't know if it'd change much about canon but i think itd make the scene where kevin takes thea to see jean in tkm very tense >:3 and you know how she was like should i come back? to kevin i think they could do something similar for jean like. finish usc. get a little better. and then we'll come back for you. and they do :3

[Foxgloves Notes: ok, so this is omegaverse. But I am SO PICKY when it comes to omegaverse, so please. Please trust me on this one. The writing on this fic takes my breath away. It’s some of the best written work I’ve ever read in my entire life. I teared up reading this. Idk, like I know it can turn people off, but it’s the best one out there truly, and I was changed after reading it. (You can read this one blind, I think it tells you all you need to know about the plot of the game that you’d need to know, so. some of the most amazing prose I’ve ever read, some of the most gut wrenching lines, just. Fuck dude, this fic is so so good.]

I also genuinely love this fic, I’m not just reccing it cause it’s popular, I’m reccing it cause it’s a good read, and I liked the plot. It’s a time travel fix-it fic (my favorite trope).]

Tron (Sam/Tron, of course):

[Foxglove Notes: this is my favorite book of all time. Like, not even my favorite fic, it is genuinely my favorite Book of all time. It is kingdom hearts so it’s got some jarring moments where your like ‘wait, Minney Mouse??’ And you just have to roll with it cause it’s a COMPLETE au, so there’s nothing in the setting that is about kingdom hearts, it’s just the characters. I think about this work at least once a week, it’s so much more than that description, but I feel like I can’t actually talk about what is in the fic, cause it’s one of those stories where part of the story is things getting revealed. (If you read this tho, please know because it’s a complete au, you might want to treat it as its own novel, and not try to get into KH fic cause I can not in good graces tell someone to read none au KH fic without knowing anything about how absolutely bonkers the game series is. I can not even explain the plot, but that’s the point, the point of the games is that they are meant to be experienced, not explained…… sorry I went on a KH rant, it’s one of my longest hyperfixations lmao.)]
