Decided to make my contribution to @cuppajj Neo Beast AU by making a haetae for Frigid Cacao Cookie. I would like to clarify that this isn’t canon to the AU’s storyline, nor is this Haetae the same as Cloud (think of it as the dragon cookies where there’s multiple of them). But anyways, this is Frosty Haetae Cookie, guardian of the Frigid Cacao Kingdom! Despite being a sentient fluffball, Frosty Haetae’s personality is anything but soft! Much like their Lord, Frosty is a stern haetae who takes their job as the kingdom’s judge and executioner very seriously and can be ruthless during punishments. After all, hearing about crimes against the Cacao Kingdom isn’t something to take light on, the suspect might even get a stab from Frosty’s horn if they’re guilty. Word of advice: if you’re being judged by Frosty Haetae Cookie, never lie to them, they HATE liars.

I think Lily Orchard leans toward more the Green Party. Whether or not they have great intentions, their acts are either questionable at best or harmful at worst.

Uh. No. Definitely not. Lily is far too violent and advocates for rural rot and indigenous assimilation. She thinks because she's a good person that her and people that agree with her should be judge jury and executioner. Also taking a listen to her opinions on addicts and drug use should make it really clear what she is: Lily is a a Neo-Liberal which is right of center, sitting somewhere between the Progressive Consercative party and the Liberal party. Green Party is the furthest left party we have in Canada that has any seats in parliament. NDP is our only left wing party with any amount of power. A lot of Halifax, the county she lives in, is NDP, including in her riding. (5 of the 6 NDP Members of the Legislative Assembly are in Halifax, 1 is in Cape Breton. There are 15 in the Liberal Party, 33 in the Progressive Conservatives, and 1 independent.)

Lily has the same politics as Reagan and Thatcher tbh. Comparing her to the Green Party means you're either really uneducated on politics, especially Canadian politics, or you've fallen for Lily's grift to some capacity. Except when they arrived, to their dismay, other staff were jealous saboteurs, back-stabbers, rumour mills who did all they could to drag others under no matter how low they stoop.It was even implicitly encouraged.Boss did not want X bc of age, manager later also did not want X bc of “ability” despite prior promises, but they do not get dirt on their own hands, so they “borrow other's knife to k!ll” so to speak,which is why some staff turn on X as if they get paid… they do, though reward may not be money.

X decided to quit when they found out just how shady they operated:

identity fraud & faked marriage for immigration, debt entrapment, money laundry, tax evasion, exploit staff by tip confiscation, gambles are on the tables & obligatory, prostitute to the top, join cult for promotion

Their method:

financial & social entrapment, back scenes manipulation,subtle coercion

At the end X went back to prior org …at least they had rigid management who know how to run an operation on the table… all hands visible.

Some Ozpin and Oscar related thoughts:

Neo's take on Ozpin is so ooc it hurts more than everyone else bc his first interaction with Ruby is giving her cookies. What he does with broken children is FEED THEM BC FOOD MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER. But. We have seen him pissed off to the point of shouting and it was against Hazel in vol 5. I think the surefire way to make Ozpin this royally pissed off would be using him against his students, which is what hazel did in vol 5 and what neo is doing here, so she's VERY lucky that Oscar didn't fall along with all the others.

Anyway i also happen to think that the only person he would actually be this violent in action and words is himself. I bet this very image of being gruesomely beaten down and berated by him happens regularly in his mind, except he's both the executioner and the victim. And maybe, in his darkest thoughts, Oscar accidentally dies because of him, same as Ruby's fears.

Or maybe Ozma imagines all the reincarnates taking turns beating and insulting him for what he did to them and their families. Point is, Neo may have accidentally performed a perfectly characterized Ozpin, but not against the correct person.

It's also!!! Delicious!!! That he's not just someone Ruby cares about and feels responsible for his death!!! And also someone she resents, but not bc OH OZPIN'S SO EVIL SHE HATES HIM BC HE'S EVIL, but because... The entire volume... Has been very subtly implying she's as afraid of Oscar experiencing ego death in the merge than he himself is (and then she CHOOSES to experience ego death herself at the end. "I don't want to be me anymore"). Holy cow. If you had told me that before vol 9, i would have replied "look rosegarden is my otp too but that feels a bit like reaching" and IT'S NOT. And Neo has used him against Ruby TWICE. And accidentally killing him after slashing at Ozpin can be read in so many fucked up levels and it's what finally break her????

This episode was just so brutal but in a way that i personally found exceptionally intriguing. I love this kind of horror. This couldn't have been possible if not in the ever after. I got to see my oz Bois again and Ozpin's maya model finally being put to use, and Shannon actually shouting in his voice, but at what cost, but it was perfect.

Also glad they finally gave the man his lips back. I was wondering where they went after vol 2. Thank you Neo. Also, for giving Oscar his melanin back.

Luco Notes

He/They - 30s - Semi-Aquatic alien that has similarities to earth fauna

Their name is based on the scientific name of the Sea Krait, an anagram of the first half Colubrina > Luco.

i stared at that for so long trying to figure out a name for this guy LMFAO AGHH

His home is on the land area of his planet, but spends most hours of the day in the ocean if he’s not doing a job.

Luco collects their poison in many vials; not needing a lot to paralyze or kill a person. Sea Krait venom is one of the most potent of venoms. His bite is usually painless . Prefers injecting targets with the vials by needle or putting it in their food or drink.

I wanted to base his personality somewhat on how sea kraits act in nature; they are actually docile and non-aggressive animals that only attack in self defense or if they’re searching for prey. Luco is easy-going and actually friendly but he uses his personality to ease into people’s walls and strike when they’re most comfortable and when they let their guard down. Their method of betrayal varies, they’re usually loyal to the person who pays the most and pays upfront with consistency.

As for the ‘executioner’ outfit they have; it’s often used and originally made for underwater hunts. Often times it’s used in a method where the target is lured or ‘lost’ in a secluded area and Luco comes from below or along a hidden area in the colorful corals and strikes. The wetsuit is also space-travel safe so he takes care of it very well. Not everyone knows of his special suit because the services rendered in it are more high stakes and also uses a lot of time and planning in order to get it just right.

They don’t seem to be romantically involved with anyone currently and tries not to hang around too long with a person because they fear they may get too attached. Many one-night stands but they DO have their favorites despite trying not to stay in one place. They can be sweet and love to leave little gifts; they give everyone they meet their own special and unique color item. He is especially interested in those who reciprocate. It takes two to tango, baby! Luco also does enjoy teasing and slithering his way into someone’s heart also. His love is a poison that can linger.

Character Relations

Lone Starr knows them from various body guarding jobs, along with seeing Luco on his free time since they seem to get along. They drink whiskey together and have spent the night in a bed with each other before but nothing came of it. Is aware of his actual ‘job’ but turns his cheek to it.

Shuuti has hired Luco as a body guard before, she loves when they give her bouquets of peach-colored carnations. She appreciates his work as a guard but has shown Luco not to mess with her. She is aware of his true character.

Neo has not encountered Luco personally but may have seen them swimming on random planets.

Solare has had Luco reserve a room for themselves at his Inn but does not know much about them.

Luco is sort of unaware that the star siblings are siblings, they do think it’s odd that they have similar colors but are so different from each other. Luco likes to spend long hours watching people here and there at bars, spending time tasting whiskey from planet to planet.. He doesn’t seem to be in a rush to go anywhere and lives modestly.

Through the Looking-Glass and What RWBY Found There

Alice in Wonderland might have been the most theorized fairytale for RWBY, and we are finally getting a Volume that seems entirely based around the Alice books!!!! With Volume 9 coming out tomorrow I thought about what allusions the characters may also play as, sticking strictly to the two Alice books. Hope I explained myself well, but would love to hear your suggestions as well.

Ruby/RWBY/Alyx (The Girl Who Fell Through the World) - Alice

Reason: The main characters, the outsider introduced to the confusing worlds of Wonderland & Looking-Glass World. Alice is affected by these worlds, such as shrinking, growing, thinking she is another girl, forgetting her own name, etc. In both stories, Alice struggles with her own identity. Wonderland marks her end of childhood, as she returns to the real world after maturing. Through the Looking-Glass reflects how she has grown up.

The Ever After - Wonderland & The Looking-Glass World

Little - The Mouse & Stuart Little

Reason: A mouse is among the first characters Alice encounters in Wonderland. The mouse briefly freaks out over the mention of a cat.

Stuart Little should be obvious.

Queen - The Red Queen & Humpty Dumpty

Reason: Not to be confused with the Queen of Hearts, the Red Queen is defined by her chess motif. She invites Alice to participate in her chess game as a pawn of the White Queen. While depicted as an old lady, she is childish and immature in nature. Alice is the winner of this chess game, inadvertently leading to her return to the real world.

Curious Cat - Cheshire Cat & curiouscat

Reason: Popular character and companion of Alice. Tends to speaks in philosophical riddles, but informs Alice of the structure of Wonderland. Has the ability disassemble its body, most notably as separating its head from its body to avoid being beheaded by The Executioner.

What Are You? - The Wood Where Things Have No Names

Reason: A forest Alice briefly travels through, where she slowly forgets not only her name but the names of objects too. She encounters a fawn that has also forgotten its name as well, and they happily travel together, before coming out of the woods and regaining their memories, leading the fawn to run away in fear. The woods represent the idiom, ignorance is bliss.

The Knight - The Executioner

Reason: A servant of the Queen of Hearts, typically in charge of executing whoever the Queen of Hearts has charged. While originally depicted as the Ace of Clubs, the 2010 film depicts him in a heart suit to better suit his allegiance to the Queen of Hearts. Usually wields an axe.

Monster - The Jabberwock

Reason: An ill-defined monster described in Through The Looking-Glass. Typically THE monster portrayed in Alice-based stories.

Fly - The Gnat

Reason: A gnat that Alice encounters before she enters The Woods Where Things Have No Names. Argues with Alice that names have no importance and then vanishes.

The Blacksmith - The Queen of Hearts

Reason: The titular enemy of Alice, defined by her heart of card motif. She is selfish and possessive, and has a penchant for beheading. However, her victims are normally saved by the oafish King of Hearts.

Trash Panda - The Knave of Heart & Rocket Raccoon

Reason: The Knave of Hearts is a thief. He is put on trial to be executed for stealing the Queen' tarts.

MCU Rocket Raccoon likes to steal prosthetics.

Neo - The Mad Hatter

Reason: The Mad Hatter is a character defined from both their famous hat and being insane. The character is based on the phrase "mad as a hatter", an old phrase to describe someone who is crazy and/or unpredictable.
