Steve had always wanted a dog. He wanted to cuddle on the couch, tug of war with old socks, and play catch in the yard. Most of all, he wanted a friend that would love him unconditionally.
So when he and Eddie got their first rundown house on the edge of Hawkins, he wanted to get a dog. They had a yard, savings in the bank, and plenty of time to spare between Eddie’s gigs and Steve’s school. He wanted a dog.
Eddie, though, wanted a cat. He was never a huge dog-lover. He didn’t really like the way dogs seemed so attached to their humans, they were too needy. He wanted a cat that kept to itself 23 hours of the day before finding its favorite person for minimal scritches and pets before disappearing once again to be a cat.
They were at an impasse. Neither one was backing down and after a two day silence streak, they reached a compromise. They would get a dog. Eddie could be reasoned with on the condition that they got a golden retriever because if he got a dog, you better believe it was going to be Steve’s twin.
With his acceptance, Steve brought home a puppy and named her Cinnamon. In a need to wreak havoc however, Eddie called her Van Halen and she only ever answered to that.
Years later when Van Halen was fully trained, Steve got his revenge. Eddie brought home a cat named Ozzy and Steve saw his chance. He called her exclusively Cuddlebug and from then on, she only answered to that.
It was so much worth it, seeing the grimace and full-body sigh Eddie took whenever he called her name. He learned the hard way that Steve holds a mean grudge (and usually gets payback in unexpected ways).
#Steve is a dog person and I will fight you on that#Eddie is very wary of getting on Steve’s bad side#He once forgot to unload the dishwasher so Steve took all of the dishes from the cabinets and put them on the table and counters#then watched Eddie put all of those AND the dishwasher dishes away while reading a magazine on Tom Cruise#Steve is the passive-aggressive type that you don’t know he’s mad until it’s too fucked up to fix it#stranger things#steddie#headcanon#steve harrington#eddie munson

What I think the Creeps would listen to
Jeff - Black Metal, but he’d be fucking annoying about it with a huge superiority complex and very gatekeepy. Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor, Immortal. Also artists like Marilyn Manson and Black Sabbath too, Cannibal Corpse, Mortician
Nina - 2000s pop like Kesha, Katy Perry, Pitbull, with some scene music thrown in like Falling In Reverse, Hollywood Undead, S3RL. She also listens to Melanie Martinez
BEN - Exclusively old internet music like Raining Tacos, Chocolate Rain, Caramelldansen, The Duck Song. Would probably dip into EDM, Dubstep, and video game soundtracks
Jane - R&B and Hip Hop. Destinys Child, Mariah Carey, Usher, Nelly, Rhianna, Ashanti and also some rock like Evanescence
EJ - Linkin Park, Nirvana, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Rage Against The Machine, and bands like Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies
Toby - Wide range of music, from gangster rap to punk rock. Green Day, NWA, Harley Poe, ACDC, Three Days Grace, Motley Crue, Modern Baseball, Blink182, Thousand Foot Krutch
Clockwork - Rock, country, grunge. She would listen to mostly female artists. In This Moment, Jack Off Jill, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kittie, The Pretty Reckless, Destroy Boys, Hole, Three Days Grace, Seether
Tim - Old class rock, he thinks anything else is garbage. Motley Crue, ACDC, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, KISS, Guns N Roses
Brian - White guy music. Backstreet Boys, The Offspring, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, probably throws some Michael Jackson into the mix for spice

Gathered a few recs for the Shadowheart playlist, if that’s still a thing. It’s a little lengthy because I’ve put thought into each one, and could simply go on for hours about this character:
Bring me to Life - Evanescence. Just a really perfect summary of Shadowheart’s Selûnite arc. Her journey from Shar’s darkness into the light, and how the player helps her to see the truth of Shar’s manipulations. With lyrics like ‘call my name and save me from the dark’, ‘Save me from the nothing I’ve become’, ‘I’ve been living a lie, There’s nothing inside’.
Like a Prayer - Madonna. For the religious themes and sexual innuendo of a woman who loves God like she might a person, compared to Shadowheart’s relationship with both the player and her love for Shar (Shadowheart a-likens her love for Shar with Gale’s love for Mystra). More appropriate for Dark Justiciar Shadowheart, where the player is effectively Shadowheart’s side piece/ Mistress to her real relationship with Shar. Bonus points for actually being able to pray to Shadowheart during a sex scene in the game.
Numb - Linkin Park. If you consider the song to be from Shadowheart’s perspective, directed towards Viconia/ Shar. ‘I’m tired of being what you want me to be, feeling so faithless, lost under the surface, I don’t know what you’re expecting of me, Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes’, ‘Cause everything that you thought I would be, Has fallen apart right in front of you’, ‘all I want to do, Is be more like me and be less like you’.
Somewhere I belong - Linkin Park. A song about someone trying to escape their pain, and find a place they can belong and be happy. For Shadowheart’s greatest shame; “She doesn’t know who she is, or where she belongs.” She spends the game trying to find a place for herself, whether that be with Shar, with her family, or by Tav’s side. If she ends up travelling alone, then she’s still trying to find it, come the epilogue party.
On the Beach - Chris Rea. Makes me think of the skinny dipping scene. ‘Between the eyes of love I call your name, Behind the guarded walls I used to go’, ‘No-one but you and I, Underneath that moonlit sky, Take me back to the place that I know, On the beach’.
The Housebuilding Song from Red Dead Redemption 2, because Tav and Shadowheart ‘build a little house together’. The song plays during a scene in the game where you build a house and a barn on a country farmstead for your family, which is what Tav and Shadowheart do post-game.
Why can’t this be love - Van Halen. Always makes me think of the mutual pining during Act 1 and Act 2, where Shadowheart refuses to act on her feelings for the player for the sake of Shar and her mission. Carries on into Act 3 on the Shar path, with Shadowheart explicitly saying “I can’t truly love you.”
Sunshine of your love - Cream. Makes me think of the Shar romance ending, with how Shadowheart and Tav have secret trysts whenever Shadowheart slips away from her duties. In particular, it makes me think of the original Shar romance epilogue slide, “By the Night Orchids bloom, her mind doth wander to old friends and an old flame. The one light she is never sad to see, when it doth cast itself upon the steps of the House of Grief.”
Girl - The Beatles. This one’s here exclusively for the line ‘When you say she’s looking good, She acts as if it’s understood’, since Shadowheart responds with “I know” to a player saying “You’re beautiful.”
My Love, My Life - Abba. Shadowheart’s writer did a QnA on one of Jen & Aliona’s streams where he said this would be Shadowheart’s favourite Abba song.
Omg!!! What an incredible addition to the Shadowheart Playlist tag!!!! 😍
I love your picks!! And I love hearing the explanation for why you chose each one! They tie into her story and themes so well! They’re all so fitting (besides being great songs), I can’t wait to listen to them with a fresh perspective! 😄
Thank you so much for sharing your compilation! I’ll be stealing these for my master Shadowheart playlist if you don’t mind! 🥹
#shadowheart playlist#I want to add the little notes about each song too 🥲#I’ll be coming back to this!! 👀#shadowheart#ask#knightdelt

KUMA: Never Ending Bond, Chapter 2, Part 1 & 2 (Translation)
Preface & Prologue Chapter 1, Part 1 & 2 Chapter 1, Part 3 Chapter 1, Part 4 Chapter 1, Part 5 Chapter 1, Part 6
Chapter 2: When I Met X Bratty little KUMA finds a place to love and cherish
How a pro-wrestling boy became fascinated with the rock scene
I was a boy who loved martial arts and pro-wrestling.
The family environment I was raised in set me up for it.
My father, who was also a composer, promoted various acts in our home region of Kumamoto. Because of that, it often happened that singers and other talents came to our house to greet us.
Among those, it was the pro-wrestlers who came for those shows that I came to follow around… I went to play with them and they adored me. As far as I can remember, I spend a lot of my childhood among adults.
But when I was in forth grade of elementary school, my parents got divorced.
It felt just like a manga, or a tv show. My mother and I moved out of the large house we had lived in until then and started living together in a run-down apartment. Then we moved to a multi-unit apartment complex, but by then, the older boy next door who loved western music had already let me listen to western rock from the era of Van Halen.
This oniichan [“older brother”, used also to address unrelated older boys/young men] influenced me in a number of ways.
I had loved music ever since I was little, but had listened exclusively to Japanese pop music. And now this oniichan let me listen to plenty of western rock. The only Japanese rock band this western-music-loving oniichan liked was BOØWY. As he let me listen to a number of songs, I, too, came to like BOØWY more and more… From there on, I came to think, “There ought to be a lot of other cool bands who wear make-up and put their heir up like BOØWY.”
And like that, I started to have an interest in the Japanese indies rock scene.
The meeting with X that changed my fate
The first time I learned about X was through a variety show I watched on tv during my second year of middle school.
With HIDE-san, who had joined in February 1987, YOSHIKI-san, TOSHI-san, PATA-san, and TAIJI-san, X consisted of five people… At that time, they were already giving one-man lives at places like Meguro Rokumeikan. After that, they made their first full album, “VANISHING VISION” (released 14 April 1988), but I came across them just when they were in the process of recording that album…
Already, they moved all of my heart.
Completely charmed, I started following X wherever they went. My mother, whom I was living with, understood and didn’t say anything about me acting this way.
Living with my mother, we frankly did not have enough money. I was lonely at this time, while my mother was gone to work from morning until evening. But no matter what happened, my mother always understood me.
She understood when I went to hang out at the places of the pro-wrestlers I had come to be friends with as a child, and when it was time to take the entrance exam for high school, she respected my reasons for only taking the exam for this one school I was set on without a backup plan, even though we were told by my middle school teachers that I definitely wouldn’t be accepted into that one.
To me, my mother was my greatest supporter and the person who understood me the best.
She had that understanding, even if she didn’t have any money.
Thus, with my mother’s understanding, I was getting more and more addicted to X.
Chapter 2, Part 3 & 4
#hide#translation#x japan#kuma#owaranai kizuna#i do admit this happened a lot faster than expected#which does not mean the next parts will be up just as quickly#I was lucky and had the time for translating#and the chapter did not give me much trouble so far#anyway#I decided that#kuma's mom#deserves her own tag now

KING OF WRATH SPIN OFF IDEA: Daughter of Wrath
I've read King Of Wrath by Ana Huang, and this is a fan idea of a spinoff if Vivian and Dante had a daughter. It is a long one!
Tatum Russo is the only child of the exclusive couple, and while she grew up in wealth and luxury, she was surrounded by true familial love and joy. She has her own band, Halen Moon, after her favorite band Van Halen. They are becoming popular, and they have a chance at a signature record deal.
Tatum works hard for this because the press only know her as the daughter of Vivian and Dante Russo. During a demo recording with their intended label, it turns out that the studio is being handed over to new management, and SURPRISE! Her ex-boyfriend is the new one.
The band is in shock, and Isaac Paxton is the new head figure. He worked his way to the top, and notices Tatum is the lead singer. She hadn't changed her image, but she has blue highlights in her midnight black hair, bangs, and a tattoo sleeve consisting of her favorite singers Rob Zombie, David Lee Roth, and Johnathan Davis on her left arm. On her right is a half-sleeve of her favorite movie director George Romero and horror icons Bub The Zombie and Captain Spaulding. To him, though, she was the same girl years ago.
Tatum doesn't let emotions get to her and they head into the studio to practice, but when Isaac listens to them perform, he can't help but stop them mid-song. He is impressed with Tatum's vocals, but feels they lack the stage performance through the way their songs are: hard, raw, and gritty.
He makes a deal with them: if they can re-write the records they want to perform, he will see about talking with the label to sign them. This pisses Tatum off, and she tells him that their old manager was impressed with the material they have.
"It's not good enough for me," Isaac frowns. "I need a real band, ones who can show me they're real, raw, and true. My executives are coming in two months, and if you can present your song then to me with true emotion, I will consider."
He tells them to head home, and Tatum stomps toward the exit, flaring with anger. She wants to confront Isaac, but knows doing so will cause her only chance to crumble. So, she begrudgingly decides to come up with options.
She meets up with her best friend, drummer Ivory and Kellan, son of Isabella and Kai Young. She feels like she's in deep because Isaac is her ex and she wrote that music from her heart. Kellan suggests that she shove a drumstick up his ass, but Ivory disagrees and compels Tatum to show him how badass she is.
So for two weeks, with the help of her bandmates, they put together a list of songs Isaac might like.
Meanwhile, Isaac has been reeling over meeting Tatum again. Every time they meet at the studio, he tries to communicate with her, but she shuts him down, reminding him that he broke her heart to pursue his dreams, and she could've understood if he'd have just said GOODBYE.
Isaac does everything he can to show Tatum that he cares, and after awhile, they reconcile their relationship. He helps her with her music, and they start to progress.
However, the record executives show up earlier than expected, seeking Halen Moon's music. When they start to perform, they are surprised at the strength of Tatum's voice. After they finish, they are interested in only signing HER, not her band.
Tatum rejects the offer, telling them that she built her band herself and if they don't sign Halen Moon wholely, then she won't accept. Isaac is shocked, and the executives figure they don't have anything to work with and leave.
Isaac confronts Tatum about her decision, to which they argue about their future. Tatum accuses Isaac about not believing in her enough, and he only saw music as a hobby, not that it was her heart and soul. And, in Ana Huang fashion, Tatum breaks up with him, believing they need to re-evaluate their relationship.
Weeks later, Tatum visits her parents, distraught how her work turned out. She asks Vivian how she reconciled with Dante, and she tells her that it took him to realize their marriage wasn't just a business deal, and making him work for it by taking it slow.
It doesn't cheer Tatum up, as music was her whole life and without that record deal, she feels like it was worth nothing. She curls up in Vivian's arms, and Vivian assures her that she'll work something out.
"And when a Russo loves something," she mentions Luca's words. "They fight for it."
After mulling it over, Tatum goes back to the studio with her bandmates, apologizing and telling them they'll show the world that they can make it on their own. And she has a new song to prove it.
Unbeknownst to them, Isaac watches them perform. He hears her strumming her guitar, and the harmony carrying through the room. He finally understands her ways, and is silent the entire time. When they exit the room, they stare at one another.
Isaac apologizes to Tatum, wishing that he could've gone back and told her goodbye, and he finally sees how much she cares about her music. He tells her that he will talk with the executives again, but Tatum refuses his offer, explaining that she doesn't need a label to tell people she is good. She asks Isaac if he really meant everything, and if he is sincere he has to work for it.
They start out slow, and when Halen Moon gets a chance to play at a downtown metal festival, they are on fire. The crowd loves them, and so does Isaac. After they finish, the band celebrates backstage, and before they know it, Isaac brings a woman to them.
She is Rochelle Mann, and she manages an independent label that signs up and coming artists. She expresses delight to have been at the show, and asks Tatum to come by her Manhattan studio to run original material.
Soon after, Tatum is signed, and she and Isaac reconcile their relationship, going on her band's very first tour.

"Cobra" by Megan Thee Stallion
MG:
There’s a lot to be said about turning your trauma into art, and I did say some of it while thinking about Lana Del Rey’s “A&W.” Megan Thee Stallion is about a decade younger (than both Lana and me) and her work is still fiery with recrimination and transformation. If she must suffer, then the suffering can be empowering, she can pry open the eyeballs of the world and force them to look, to see how she was wronged. And not to sound too much like I majored in English here, though I certainly did – it’s, you know, intriguing that she paired all this with killer snake imagery! Generally (but far from exclusively) this is a woman’s artistic domain. It’s Beyoncé’s Lemonade, it’s Fiona Apple’s Tidal, it’s Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors – these albums speak directly to women about their pain and humbling and about how fragile the life we construct really is. Whether you’re born in poverty or you’re the world’s foremost superstar, to exist is to hurt. Megan Thee Stallion is hurting, all her open wounds are documented on “Cobra,” but she’s also very in touch with her anger and that’s what makes this song epic. Beyond what she’s doing, the legacies she’s tapping into, “Cobra” is fantastic and compulsively listenable, winning over popheads, metalheads, and everyone in between. Megan Thee Stallion’s winking self-acceptance of her demons and Van Halen style guitar solo fade out sound like driving off a cliff and taking flight; may she fly free forever.
DV:
Megan making a claim for control of her narrative and "shedding her past" by airing it out in song is a bold move on its own, as MG notes above. Structurally it's even bolder: Megan Thee Stallion would have every reason to turn these experiences into a "serious" track, Grammy bait, something confessional and ballad-esque. It would almost certainly work in that format! This is a dark story, bits of which I've run into on social media and bits of which were new, at least to me. It would require very little to make it into the kind of song that tugs at your heartstrings, and there would be absolutely nothing wrong with taking that path. But instead, stunningly, Megan chose to turn this harrowing story into an unconventional banger, a bop where the chorus hinges on a lyric that's unmistakably "This pussy depressed." There's no escaping either side of this song, no way to embrace the beat and ignore the lyrics or the other way around. "Cobra" has its cake and devours it too: it's unavoidably both things at once, capped off by my personal pick for most unexpected, and best, guitar solo of the year.

What are some goals you hope Måneskin will achieve in the future?
I’m pretty one note. I want them to release a hard rock album with no other writers that’s saturated with the Må sound. Rapping over a rock song, blaring bass, crunchy guitars, poetic Italian lyrics, raspy & pissed off vocals, down and dirty sound. I want cock rock and NO POP PRODUCERS
I want them to collaborate and put out a Gucci x Måneskin collection. Then I want them to leave Gucci and start wearing smaller designers. Double points for Dami subtly shading big designer brands.
I want them to wear clothes that have meaning. Can you imagine Vic in a dress exclusively made from strategically placed fabric scraps to bring attention to fashion waste? Damiano wearing something designed by WOC with the brand name plastered across the front? Ethan in elegant and understated ethically sourced/sustainably produced pieces talking about the environment in red carpet interviews? Thomas only getting styled from the women’s collection of whatever brand he’s wearing and be pretty boy personified
I want every album to have instrumental solo SONGS a lá Van Halen
I want them to use their music or performance or platform to be politically divisive in a way that could compromise profit and loose fans.
I want them to give an award show performance that undermines the whole award show.
I NEED a live concert album. And movie.
I want their team to brief interviewers so they’re not asked the same questions and I want Må to be bitchy about it on air if someone doesnt do their job. I want them to speak about a wider range of topics they feel morally invested in because they’re eloquent and interesting.
I want a conceptual album like American Idiot. I also want an weird af experimental rock album championed by Ethan with lots of collaborations.

Happy to see you are back! Nice new icon. Hope you are doing well. Your dog too! How is the bestest boy?
HELLO!!! Oh babe, you should never ask about my dog because it will be ENDLESS!!!! Fun little story but to begin, let me tell you my dogs name. I got him a few months before season four came out and decided to call him Eddie after eddie van halen/the iron maiden mascot. I wish I was joking but I am not. (Don’t worry though, I exclusively call him bebbie, Bebs, bebbington, long boy or professor long paw). But yes my dog is called eddie out of pure coincidence.
So now my parents are thinking about getting a dog and obviously were just spit balling ideas. And what name does my mother pick out of all the names in the world? Stevie. My mum wants to call the dog stevie. Please anon, save me from having to shout out the names of my brain rot in public spaces or from having to throws balls at stevie and Eddie.
But also please look at my lamb boy
#WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?????#also I didn’t address this but thank you for even noticing I was semi-gone#it actually really made me feel nice that my presence is somewhat noticed#yes that’s very big headed of me but I meant by one person ie YOU#because you are clearly a very kind and caring person and it’s a#joy and happiness to know people like you are around these parts#how are you? January been manageable so far?#im sorry about the not funny dog story but you got bebbie pics too to balance it out

so i started making an iceman playlist for the correct version of him that lives in my head last night and i need to make it sooo abundantly clear that like. he's the one into girlie pop. okay LIKE. so maverick IS the one who'd be into drag and getting his eyebrows done but he likes old school heavy metal/punk and johnny cash. he thinks he can be eddie van halen if he tries hard enough.
ice is the one listening to madonna and tina turner who's subscribed to better homes and gardens. he also lives exclusively in an old pair of washed out black nike sweats that he stole from slider when he doesn't need to be anywhere for long periods of time. it can get RANK in there ykwm.
they go out w goose and carole and mav and goose go harass the technician at the mechanical bull riding station and carole and ice get mistaken for husband and wife because theyre really into the same daytime soap.
do you see the vision.
#.txt#THEY COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER IS WHAT IM SAYING#i put 'rich girl' by hall and oates on his playlist and my third eye was busted wide open

Album Review: Bruce Springsteen "Born in the U.S.A." 40th Anniversary Edition
Here at Green’s Party, I’ve been lucky enough to review Bruce Springsteen quite a bit: his 2019 album Western Stars, 2020′s Letter to You, the 2021 live album The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts, 2022’s Only the Strong Survive and earlier this year I got to review Best of Bruce Springsteen. But this actually marks the first time I got to review a re-release of one of his legendary albums. Last month marked the 40th anniversary of The Boss's 7th album Born in the U.S.A. and to celebrate, Legacy Recordings just released a 40th anniversary vinyl edition.
album cover
The original album was released on June 4, 1984. Following the 1982 Nebraska album, which was just The Boss alone, this album reunited him with his E Street Band. The Summer of 1984 was a time when I was just learning about music and this album came at a time when you had so many classic albums like Prince and the Revolution's Purple Rain, Van Halen's 1984, The Cars' Heartbeat City, the Footloose soundtrack and more! This was one of the early rock albums I got on cassette tape and it was an intro to his work. Somewhere in my attic is the tape of me singing along to “I’m on Fire” on Star Studio. I even went as Bruce Springsteen for Halloween around 1985.
the new 40th anniversary edition
Whenever you see one of those greatest-albums-of-all-time lists, they usually have Born to Run as the highest-ranking Springsteen album. But for my money, Born in the USA is The Boss at the top of his game. This is easily his best album. Ever! Every single song is solid. The album also took on social issues (vets coming home from Vietnam on “Born in the USA”), as well as topics such as lust (“I’m on fire”), your best days being behind you (“glory days”), and a revisionist take the town you grew up in (“My Hometown”). He also embraced music videos with “Dancing in the Dark” and several hits off the album. In terms of this new 40th anniversary edition, the vinyl is red. It features a gatefold sleeve and exclusive booklet with archival material from the era, new liner notes penned by Erik Flannigan and a four-color lithograph. Bottom line: this album is outstanding and if you don't have it on vinyl yet (like me prior to this review), this version is worth adding to the record collection.
For info on Born in the U.S.A.
5 out of 5 stars
