somewhere in the back of your mind, you know this isnāt how things should be.
your living room is dimly lit, illuminated only by the tv in front of you, and the moon is glowing a pearlescent blue. flimsy strings of moonlight spill over your floorboards, reflecting off the windows, and whatever youāre doing isnāt what you should be doing.Ā you shouldnāt be awake this late, shouldnāt be gorging on sweets before bed, shouldnāt be having a rendezvous with an enemy ā shouldnāt be watching movies with your ex of ten years.Ā
most of all, you shouldnāt be feeling nearly this content.
getÅ is seated right beside you, legs comfortably spread, popping a macaron into his mouth. chewing it slowly, savouring the flavour. or lack thereof, you suppose ā heās digested far too many curses for his taste buds to remain intact.
or so he says, anyhow.
this time, he brought pastries with him. expensive ones, you can tell, just from the package alone; a soft pastel pink box, wrapped up in silk, golden letters etched into the front. mont blancs, macarons, two slices of strawberry shortcake. carefully picked, suited to your tastes.
(you arenāt actually too fond of sweets, anymore, but how is he to know? he hasnāt seen you in years.)
āwould you like me to make us some tea?ā
when you turn your gaze towards him, getÅās wearing a smile. laid-back, the slightest upward curl, tilting his head in a manner youāre far too used to. eyes shining with something keen.Ā somehow, it feels difficult to tear your gaze away from his.
but you manage, turning forward, grasping control over your sleepy vocal cords. āno, iām good.ā
a low hum. heās still looking at you.
ācoffee?ā
āthe sweets are more than enough.ā
this time, a smile ā one you canāt see but still somehow sense. a little bit amused. getÅ gazes at you with a knowing look, watches you glance at the box of pastries on your coffee table; studying you under the monochrome flicker of the tv-screen.Ā
āunderstood,ā he finally quips, leaning back into the leather couch. exhaling a little breath. āeat as much as youād like. i bought them for you, you know.ā
you nod, nibbling at a macaron. not glancing his way.
being alone with him still feels a little awkward. a little tense ā to be curled up on the same couch, watching the same movie, just like your old sleepovers in high school. thereās an elephant in the room that neither of you have addressed ā not since he first showed up, just a couple weeks ago, waltzing up to your apartment with a plastic bag of dvds after a decade of estrangement. wearing heavy robes, and a familiar smile. asking to be let in.
and despite every single circumstance telling you not to, you did just that. youāve yet to refuse.Ā
(satoru would hate you, if he knew.)
so heās there, right beside you, and you donāt talk about it. not his choice, not your work, not anything except the movie playing on the screen in front of you. this time, itās one heās seen before. beautiful, he called it, and for once you think it might be a romance ā if the kiss between the main actors is anything to go by.Ā
you wonder if thatās why he says it.
āsay, do you hate me?ā
you still. freezing in place, for a moment, discontent but not surprised. heās always been like this; breaking any illusion of peace before you can find solace in it.Ā
you bite back a groan, and shoot him a glance out of the corner of your eye ā but he isnāt looking at you. only at the tv, at the two men, holding hands and standing on a bridge in the rain, watching the stars twinkle in the sky. and you sigh, turning your head to look at him fully, parting your lips. your voice comes out frustrated.Ā
ādo you really want to have this conversation now?ā
āwhen else?ā he chuckles, meeting your gaze with one brow raised. amber eyes gleaming with mirth, and something else, something less practiced. āyou donāt have to answer. iām just curious.ā
you gulp down the last of the macaron, licking your lips for any leftover crumbs ā unaware of how his eyes follow the movement. āare you?ā
a hum buzzes in the back of his throat, a tiny rasp. you wonder if heās tired. āi hadnāt expected this, you know.ā he taps at his knee with the pads of his fingers, rhythmic and controlled. āi thought it was just wishful thinkingā¦ that youād let me come this close.ā
you feel his gaze on you. itās heavy, heavy like lead, like a loaded gun. you feel it dissect you from afar, and canāt find it in you to reach for another pastry.Ā
āā¦ would you have preferred being kicked out?ā
ānot at all.ā a little grin plays at his lips, something in his voice betraying the face heās making. āare you avoiding the question?āĀ
another sigh. youāre painfully aware of how resigned it sounds, spilling out into the open air, already filling with a sense of dread ā any leftover nostalgia bursting at the seams. you want to tell him so many things, but every thread inside your mind feels all tangled up.
and, as always, getÅ beats you to the punch.Ā
āthatās fine, too.ā a brief pause, a twitch of his pinkie. he closes his eyes and inhales a breath. ābecause iāll keep waiting.ā
for a second, you consider not taking the bait.Ā
then youāre giving in. because thatās what you always do, whenever heās involved.Ā you watch him in the dark, pale skin enveloped by moonlight, raven hair spilling across the headrest. he looks beautiful, like this, just resting his eyes.
āā¦ for what?ā you whisper, and his answer comes without a hitch to his breath.
āfor you to love me again.ā
ā¦
getÅ tilts his head, opening his eyes, a golden brown dragging you into their depths. he looks expectant, selfishly awaiting a response, and youāre tired.Ā
(unbeknownst to you, he resists the urge to intertwine your fingers, to trace every ridge and dip of your knuckles with his thumb. to squeeze your palm like a promise, something concrete.)
when your mind has managed to untangle itself, something in your gaze turns sharp. frustrated, impatient, disappointed, looking at him with a raised brow. āyou really are stupid, arenāt you?ā
as fast as it came, your gaze returns to the screen in front of you. monochrome, flickering, two beautiful men. one of them is holding a gun to the otherās temple, and the victim looks appeased. the movieās almost over.
(how very like him, to find such violence beautiful.)
quietly, you swallow down the bile building up in the back of your throat. a decade of bitter flavours. clenching your teeth, nails digging into the couch beneath you, leather on your cold fingertips. itās a little peeled.
you wonder why you even bother being honest, when he never quite seems to return the favour.
but the room is dimly lit, and the moon is big and bright, and your ex of ten years is sitting right next to you. in your apartment, on your couch, watching a movie on your tv. when he could, should be anywhere else. heās with you, and he pulls the words out of your throat without trying. puppeteering your heartbeat.
āā¦ as if i ever stopped.ā
silence.
you hear a gunshot ring out. low, muffled, a crackle of static. one of the men falls down to the ground, and you canāt tell who's who. the actors are forgettable, but the soundtrack is pretty. it rings in your ears like a lullaby.Ā
getÅ says your name.
it sounds the same as you remember. honeyed syllables, spilling from his parted lips, silky and sweet. he says your name like heās asking to marry you, and you can hear the smile heās struggling to repress.
āwill you look at me?ā
itās less of a question, and more of a demand. you wonder why he even bothers asking ā but youāve never really understood the way his brain works. never understood why a burglar would bother asking the shopkeeper for permission before reaching for the register, when theyāll be leaving with the money either way.Ā
and youāre paralyzed, stuck in place on the couch, gaze glued to the screen in front of you. but you arenāt watching, not really, just looking. and you donāt want to see what kind of face heās making.Ā so you whisper;
ā.. no.ā
āno?ā he mimics, something like a coo on the tip of his tongue. as always, you can feel his gaze, travelling down your face like a trickle of honey. āand why is that, my dear?ā
you bite down on your lip.
a long, long moment passes, and neither of you say a word. heās looking at you, and youāre looking down at your lap, at your clenched fists. a little meek. itās quiet, the calm before the storm, and you know exactly whatās going to happen ā itās already set in stone.
ābecause youāre going to kiss me,ā you exhale, finally, resignation on your breath. āand iām going to let you.ā
ā¦
for a second, you wonder if his silence means he understands. if he can hear the desperate plea in your voice, if he can translate it correctly.Ā
but his fingertips graze the lines of your jaw, his palm sneaks under your chin, and he keeps you in place. turning your head to meet his gaze, his amber eyes, dripping with something hungry; something pleading.Ā
this time, he doesnāt ask for permission. he leans forward until thereās no space between you, tips your head back, and kisses you with bated breath ā as softly as he can manage, which is still too intense for your liking. still brimming with desperation, something carnal, like he wants to pour his everything into the kiss but knows he shouldnāt. he tastes like tobacco.
and itās over.Ā
you know it is, because your senses are flooded with him, him, him. nothing but him, the strands of his raven hair ghosting your skin, his greedy tongue licking along your teeth, large palms resting on your spine and the back of your head. youāre pliant, surrendering yourself to his touch. heās cradling you like he loves you, and you feel like youāve done something awful, because you have.
because youāve let him come so close, again, invited him inside ā inside of your home, your ribcage. and he wonāt bother making a home for himself there, because itās already waiting for him, untouched, between your fourth and fifth ribs.
you never bothered to get rid of it.
(thatās your sin.)
getÅ hums, muffled by your lips. he sounds pleased. he sounds like heās been waiting for this for decades, and you suppose that he has. he murmurs praise that you do nothing but swallow down. everything feels too perfect, too normal, and itās too much, too much, too much. your lips pressed together, your chests pressed together, your noses meeting in a tender touch. you choke down the noise that threatens to push past your lips, and he kisses you like a starved man. like heās trying to drown in you.
he only pulls away once he realizes that youāre crying, and by then itās too late. his widening eyes donāt matter, your cold hands donāt matter, the tremble of your erratic heartbeat has never mattered less. he looks at you with remorse, and it doesnāt matter.Ā
(heās yours, again. and youāre his.
you canāt stop crying.)
āā¦ iām sorry.ā
in the background, you hear the sound of gentle whispers, an ending scene. the men are talking to each other, speaking softly, and your eyes burn with tears. geto catches one of them with his forefinger, and leans forward to plant a kiss against your nose. chaste, this time. still mumbling apologies.
it doesnāt matter, because a tiny sob still breaks past your throat ā and you know the sound must hurt him.Ā
you hate that. you hate that you always hurt him, hate that you care, hate that you feel nothing but guilt when heās around. you hate the movie still playing to your left, hate that he doesnāt hate it, hate that he loves you. hate that you love him, that you probably always will.
you hate that you blink up at him with glassy eyes, swallow down a shaky breath, and kiss him again. hate that itās still the only thing you know how to do well.
he doesnāt pull away, only biting back a noise of surprise ā but he makes sure to kiss you gently, as if youāre made of porcelain, slow and tender, cradling you closer still. he wipes away your tears with his thumb, one after another, and you hate yourself because everything feels so deliriously right.
somewhere in the back of your mind, you know that what youāre playing is a losing game.Ā
(heās yours, and youāre his. itās already set in stone.)Ā

Filthy COD squad fucktoy thoughts
@ravensmadreads / @feedthemadness-sweetie
This was written in 10 min. I've never played or seen much COD before but she's dragged me into this and then told me to post this here.
SMUT. MDNI.
----
Imagine being the squad's little fucktoy.
It starts with Ghost. Just a quick fuck when you need to but Gaz walks in and instead of stopping like you expected, Ghost tells him that either he joins or he fucks off and closes the door.
He joins.
After that Gaz takes you whenever sometimes with Ghost, sometimes by himself. Soap's next. Gaz mentions him and Ghost are using you for stress relief and one day he has a real bad day and bends you over the nearest surface and fucks you til you can't talk.
Except you can scream. And Price hears it. He thinks you're hurt, that something bad's happening but then he hears the moans, and the way you chant Soap's name and he gets jealous. He offhandedly mentions something about what he heard to the other guys, trying to fish for information, and they all look at each other weirdly, like they're hiding something. And you do the same when he asks you. Price feels kind of offended, he knows he's being kept out of something but he doesn't know what
Price opens the door with more force than he needs to. He's pissed. He's fuming. He's been pushed to the side on this for much too long.
He's hurt. Actually.
Gaz, Soap, Ghost and you are his squad. His family. And there's something going on that you're not letting him be a part of.
He sees the glances the boys throw at each other when he asks about you and Soap. And then, a week later, when you're holed up somewhere south of Porter Canal in a place where shit absolutely should not have gone south, he catches a glimpse of Gaz fucking you raw, fingers rubbing frantic circles on your clit.
He figures it out then, and it's somehow worse now he knows you're letting everyone have a go but him. It feels more personal. What about him doesn't do it for you?
He knows he's a good looking man. He's older, yes, but it doesn't bother him, and it's never bothered anyone else before. He's a high ranking officer, which proves he's trustworthy, responsible and a born leader, all things he's always been led to believe makes him a good choice for a mate.
And he always thought you liked him. You squirm when he flirts, you blush when he touches you... you masturbate in the shower when you think he can't hear, softly moaning his name. His first name.
It's not fair.
It's so unfair that when you land back at base, he calls you to his office, determined that if you won't give him what he wants, he'll just have to fucking take it.
---
He bottoms out into you, filling you to the brim. It's almost painful, the way he stretches you out and fucks you without letting you adjust.
"Letting everyone else have a go at you?" He grunts, "Singling me out?"
"Why's that?" He asks, pulling your hair back by the pigtail, "C'mon, love."
"I didn't --" you start, sentence cut in half by a loud, pornographic moan.
"Tell me."
"Rank," you spit out between screams. He's too deep and not enough. It hurts but not enough. He's everything and you want more, "Captain," you add, trying to make a coherent sentence with whatever words thoughts bump into your brain like a dvd pause screen.
Price scoffs, "Thought your captain wouldn't want you, pet?"
"Couldn't."
"Let me make something clear," he growls, "I decide what I can and can't do. I can, and I will, fuck you."
He slams into you.
"I will fuck you until I damn well decide I've caught up with the boys," he says, "And then I will keep going."
You don't respond, you're too far gone. There's only Price in the world now, jjst the feel of his cock hitting your g-spot over and over again. You've lost count of how many time you've soaked his cock with your come but you're sure it must be in the double digits now. And there's another one building up, slowly and differently, it feels stronger and there's a brand new pressure that travels down from your pussy until eventually, Price pulls out and you squirt, soaking his trousers in the process.
He chuckles, half in disbelief and half in mockery, "Any of the boys make you do this?"
"Never," you manage to say, "Only you."
"Make sure they know," he groans, turning you around on the desk by your hair so he can look you in the eyes, "Next time they fuck you. You tell them Price made you squirt."
"Yessir," you slur.
"Good girl," he says.
Price slinks down on his office chair, still holding your ponytail with a firm hand, and guides you down to kneel in front of him. You obey, eyes glued to his cock, slick with your juices.
"Clean me up, pet."
You don't react, his voice taking a second to reach whatever's left of your brain.
"I said clean me up," he orders, "You made the mess. You lick it clean."
He pulls your hair, practically forcing your mouth on his dick and finally you kick into gear, sucking, licking and nibling on and around his cock. He turns more vocal, allowing himself to moan every now and then when the back of your throat hits his tip.
There's a knock on the door and you still, Price's hand pushing you up and down his member at the same speed.
"Come in," he orders, making no attempt at hiding you, or disguising what's happening. Like he knows who's behind the door.
Ghost walks in, soft footed as always.
"You wanted to see me Captain?"
"No," Price says, "Wanted you to see her. My pet now. But I'll be nice... I'll let you share her still."
Ghost stays silent for a beat, the sound of you slobbering on Price's cock filling the silence in the room.
And then, quietly and filled with jealousy, Ghost replies, "Thank you, Captain."
"Make sure my property returns to me," Price says

It's home cinema manufacturing time! š“āā ļø Gonna put my pirate show on my shelf! (I'm doing an Arts and Crafts Project and I'm making it everyone's problem.)
After seeing how much they cost, I abandoned the idea of getting a Blu-ray writer for now. For the time being, good old DVDs is what it's going to be! My TV is old and not very big, so DVD resolution is gonna be fine.
It's been ages since I last burned a DVD. For the full experience, I'm gonna create nice menus and pretty sleeves for the boxes. Graphic design is my passion! Um.
Well. First needed to find a program to do stuff with. I'm a Linux guy, so I'm using Devede. (Which is free, btw. In case someone else wants to do a low cost spot of putting pirate show on the shelf.)
DVDs fit a maximum of 120 minutes of video. So, four episodes, I thought. But after a quick attempt, the program refused to do more than three (maybe because of the menu also taking up space, and four episodes cutting pretty close to the 120 min mark?). Anyway, three episodes per disc it is. It's a pretty nice runtime for watching the entire disc, IMO. An hour and a half, and then you can return to reality to realise you should probably eat something, or go to bed because it's midnight.
OFMD with its current two seasons has a total of eighteen episodes, which is divisible by three. You get the following setup:
Disc 1: Pilot, A Damned Man, The Gentleman Pirate - That's pretty good, Stede's introduction to piracy all on one disc!
Disc 2: Discomfort in a Married State, The Best Revenge is Dressing Well, The Art of Fuckery - All bangers. Great to watch together, our boys meet and shenanigans happen!
Disc 3: This is Happening, We Gull Way Back, Act of Grace - Many romantic moments, lots of great scenes, shit hits the fan at the end there. Alright!
Disc 4: Wherever you go, there you are, Impossible Birds, Red Flags - ... Pain and angst! What have I done!?! The disc of horrors. Gotta make sure to have tissues at hand when I watch this. But hey, it also has messy bun Ed! Small mercies.
Disc 5: The Innkeeper, Fun and Games, The Curse of the Seafaring Life. - Another disc with all winners. I love all these episodes so much! (You can watch this disc to recover from the trauma of the previous one!) But seriously, this one slaps.
Disc 6: Calypso's Birthday, Man on Fire, Mermen - Great combination again. Season finale! Love and excitement!
... Honestly, except for the psychological damage of putting all the most painful episodes together, this is coming out pretty cool. Says a lot about how good the show is. I actually really love all the episodes (yes even the painful angsty episodes of massive depression). Thinking about this little project really reminded me how much I love this entire show.
So, we got a tracklist, now menus, then we can burn this stuff!
I did the menu backgrounds in GIMP. Realised I have a big folder full of screenshots I took myself, screenshots someone else took and posted on Tumblr, official promo pics for the show, and I have no idea anymore where most of them are from, because I named the files according to what's on them. Which is useful for when you want to find pics (Need a picture of cursed suit Stede? I have files named that, easy peasy!), but not so great if you wanted to give credit to whoever took a given pic you used. (It's probably @sherlockig or @ofmd-ann or @blakbonnet. Please feel credited, your beautiful screens and gifs brighten my day, and some of them are now probably part of my DVD menus. Shrunk down and cropped, but, yeah.)
I originally wanted to structure my menus as having the title of an episode, then some pics from it, then the next episode, then pics from that, and so forth, but I couldn't convince the program to give me the necessary padding between the menu items, so I ended up just putting the episode images below the menu. Still like it.
Anyway, DVD menus can also play sound! Behold a crappy video of my beautiful creation (provided entirely for sound):
It plays Gnossienne NĀ°5!
More crappy pics of my other disc menus:
Gonna make them some nice sleeves next. Some day. Gotta make sure they all work properly first. So. I'll be on my sofa, watching my DVDs. With menus! (Edit: here are!)

Do you think the recording of TIT (bc it has to be getting recorded at some point tbh) will be a dvd release or a youtube upload this time around? I forget if Dan said any specific reason why WAD ended up being free on YT, but I feel like after setting that precedent, there's almost no going back. Ofc, there is the precedent of the two actual dnp tours being dvd or YT Red/Premium releases, but do you have any thoughts?
oh anon i'm so happy you asked. bc i did so much research for this about WAD before we knew what would happen with it.
so. the problem with dvds is storage capacity. with TIT being 2 hours, that is a lot of footage to put on a singular dvd at the resolution that they'd currently want to. dvds come in 2 sizes: 4.7 gb and 8.5 gb. you can fit a 2 hr movie onto a single layer (4.7) but any longer, and you need the double layer (8.5). thus, TIT would have to be on a double layer, unless they don't plan on including anything else except the 2 hr recording. a dvd can't play high resolution footage, only standard definition (480p). so there'd be a picture quality difference.
this is where blu-rays come in. they can store and play 1080p footage. they also hold significantly more space (a single layer blu-ray can hold 25 gb, a double 50 gb). part of the trade-off here though is that higher resolution footage takes up more space. a single layer can store 2.25 hr of HD video; a double 3 hrs. they could get away with a single layer, and that includes room for 2 hours of standard definition BTS video.
problem is, not everyone has a blu-ray player (not like everyone has dvd players either). but the main issue is that DVD players won't play blu-rays--and this includes disc drives for laptops and PC's. you need a special external driver to do it.
we'd be wading into contracts and companies being interested in selling physical copies, and given how discs in general are sort of becoming obsolete, i would be surprised if they put it on disc.
our next option would be streaming. i don't really see them wanting to attach it to any larger corporation--especially given they're physical media guys. the thought of just losing something simply because a streaming service doesn't want it anymore, or the company goes under, would be enough to keep them away from that.
people pitched the idea of nebula or dropout, but i don't see them posting a single video on nebula and then nothing else. and since i don't see them as patreon guys, i don't think they'd want to do incentives for subscription style stuff. dropout would be more of a possibility, but they'd probably want to do more with dropout in terms of guest starring before entirely handing their baby over, y'know? like hank did a whole d20 season before he did his special there.
i do think they might just upload it to dapg. genuinely. because of what happened with WAD--both rights wise and precedent wise. but also, could be extremely good for them if they can actually monetize it. their longer videos on dapg do very well, and since WAD happened before TIT was fully ironed out, i bet they've included the prospect of doing so into their scripting, so it has the ability to be monetized on their channel. plus, the desire to make it accessible for everyone (even though they are trying to tour in more countries). depending on how that goes, it may be delayed in being released online.
a lot of technical talk but i am so glad you asked anon, i love logistics discussion!

Something I noticed about I Saw the TV Glow that I haven't seen anybody mention yet
I saw this movie in theaters back in early may when it was released (Twice!), and it's been lingering in my head ever since then. Something I noticed on my second watch through: When Owen (and the audience) first see the Pink Opaque, we see Tara and Isabel in this sort of 90s nostalgia light, and I always thought they looked quite similar to Maddy and Owen. For example: Here is Owen and Isabel next to each other for reference.
While it's not entirely the same (Owen has softer features and is warmer toned, Isabel is more sharp and cool toned), they do look like they'd at least be related, cousins at least?
Same with Maddy and Tara, though not as much. (They looked more similar after Maddy's haircut, but I'm too lazy to change the photo)
But then, at the end when Owen is rewatching Pink Opaque? It's completely different. That nostalgic effect is gone and all of a sudden Tara is nowhere to be seen (Since Maddy left the world they were trapped in), and Isabel is completely different. Instead of being the confident, strong, WOC we see her as originally, she's just the same boring white protagonist of every little girl's show we grew up on.
And of course Owen is panicking, realizing that he lost his chance: He buried Isabel; she's dead underground, without her heart and instead of being who he truly is where he truly belongs, he's just... Owen. Stuck in suburbia, living the hell of being a queer kid growing up in the suburbs. Except now, he's an adult living a lie, knowing what he could have had is gone and he's stuck.
And another thing: I think the choice of the fun zone being where Owen works is deliberate. Sure, they could have kept him at the theater, but the theater shutting down is not only accurate (sad but true- please support your local movie theaters!) but shows how everyone is moving on from that experience of going to see a movie (and also from the joy of childhood and into adulthood while Owen is still stuck that awkward teenager!) in person- choosing streaming instead.
And we also notice this change in the Pink Opaque when Owen is watching it streaming. This is a reflection of how media felt more special growing up when it was in a physical form. Cds, vinyl, Dvds, casettes, film reels, even game cartridges, we've always had some physical object that bonds us to the worlds of creativity in which artists express themselves. And whether you've noticed or not, it's a special sort of feeling that just... Dies with streaming. Its like you own a piece of the media. Like saying: "This is mine, it's my personal piece of media that belongs to me and only me." and that's always made it feel special. Sure, there may be multiple copies, but this one belongs just to you. Not to mention the ritual of actually putting in cds, dvds, casettes into a player, or playing vinyl on a record player. There's this action you have to take to consume this media that's familiar and sort of gets you to anticipate what you're about to watch (much like Owen and Maddy's ritual of Maddy taping the show then leaving them around school for Owen to find) whereas now, you're just on a streaming service that lots of people own, and you're just mindlessly scrolling through hundreds of options.
Another thing: What do we see when Owen cuts his chest open in the final few minutes? TV static. Like when a tape finishes and you don't take it out of the player. His tape is over, Isabel is dead, and all that's left is the static of his fake life as he slowly rots in this husk. Now with streaming, you don't get that static. His connection with the Pink Opaque stems from his friendship with Maddy, the nostalgia of his favorite childhood show, and of course: his own queerness.
It's no secret this movie is about growing up queer and feeling like something is wrong. Like some part of you missing, the part that makes you normal. I've seen many reviews on IMDB that clearly missed the point, so I really want to spell it out here: THIS IS A MOVIE ABOUT QUEER PEOPLE FOR QUEER PEOPLE. And I've never seen a movie so perfectly encapsulate that feeling more than this one.
From my experience as a queer POC growing up with little to no representation I know this feeling all too well of seeing someone and realizing: "Wow, that's me." And projecting who I wanted to be onto that person. Even though they're not queer, they're not a poc, they're just a character. We try so hard to make them into who we want to be that the image of this character becomes so distorted you barely recognize them. Then, later revisiting that media to realize that a: you've become them, your true self, or b, in Owen's case: that you've buried that person alive and barely recognize yourself now.
It's really such a unique experience that I've never been able to put into words before. These scenes gave me such a visceral feeling and I almost cried in the theater. The scene of Owen in Isabel's dress is just the cherry on top. I myself am lucky enough to not need to transition and growing up I didn't feel as much dysphoria as my other trans friends, but this reminds me of a good friend of mine who used to dress in heels, makeup, skirts, and dresses to try and lessen the dysphoria she felt growing up in the wrong body.
I also love how the movie shows being queer in school.
Like how Maddy asks Owen if he likes girls or boys, and he replies with: "I think I like TV shows."
Avoiding the question because you either don't know the answer, or are so afraid you're gonna get bullied even more for being who you are.
Growing up, there weren't many queer kids in my school. So when we found each other, we stuck together. But for most of school, we were alone. No groups, not many friends, no space at the lunch table for us.
And seeing Owen, I just felt this connection to him almost immediately. Alone, not part of any group, until he finally finds Maddy. They don't have anything in common except the show, which is really the only reason they're friends, but it keeps them together, They're bonded.
For me, I see this as finding another queer kid in a mostly straight school. You may not have much in common, but that identity means you two will stick together, no matter what.
TLDR: I love isttvg, it makes me cry, everyone is gay and fuck imdb.
#i saw the tv glow#isttvg#pink opaque#i'm obsessed#These theories have been bouncing around in my mind forever and now I finally get to share them yippeee

this is a random thought I had in the shower actually well over a month ago, but I've been gnawing at it in my brain...and perhaps this is going to sound pathetic and a bit esoteric.
So, it suddenly dawned on me very randomly while I was showering that I have been paying for netflix for my own account since I was a freshman in college. Back in the dvd days, I remember having Firefly sent to me disk by disk my fall semester. This is 2009. It was an important part of college because I let my friends use it on their console and we'd all go to their dorm and watch streaming, and I passed out my log in to a ton of friends. I basically provided free Netflix to more or less 10 or so people over the course of four years for not even $7 a month I think.
What hit me though was that means, this year - that will be 15 years. That's what stopped me in my shower to stare off in the abyss for like 10 minutes and what's been on my mind for the past several weeks. I've been paying netflix for 15 years, which is the longest I've ever done anything. There is no other company I've so consistently paid for like this either, not for that many of years not even close. Quite possibly my longest relationship outside of my family and 2-3 other people. Netflix, the ever constant, of all forsaken things.
And what really bothers me about it is that, uhm, not to be an American consumer but like...I don't feel appreciated by netflix. For the past few years, I've barely used it, except for a few titles I've wanted to watch. I haven't passed out my log in since I changed it not long after college to keep an ex using it for free. I've remained loyal, despite the fact that I don't feel like some sort of loyal consumerist. I don't give a fuck about brands, I try to shop as little as possible, thrift what I can. And yet, what can I say? I actually am a loyal consumerist, to netflix that is.
What a shock to realize this, and what a shock to realize netflix does not acknowledge this, no email saying thanks, no surveys, no swag, no pizza party, no invite no perk no discount no nothing. Instead they raise prices, cut services, lose licenses, and cancel barely finished products. I'm 15 years loyal to this company for this?
And I think about the days of yore, but really not long ago. The preferred shopper's catalogues of department stores, the longtime shopper promotions of industry giants, the award systems for the loyal consumerists of chains and malls. The specialty Christmas items that are today vintage and worth money for their rarity. The thank yous, the special events. The mailers that say "Come to our store loyal customer and receive a free $20 coupon for that day!" And I'm not saying this is good, and of course it's all just marketing and advertisement, and I'm not saying this is the life I want to live...
But I am saying this would be easy for netflix to do, for someone like me. Someone who went from $7 to stream and receive DVDs, who got customers onboard when the model was new and the company was pioneering, to $20 to sit unused but for a month or two out of the year. It would be easy to pull the data. It would be easy to say which accounts have been opened the longest, to actually verify who has given 180 months worth of payments to them. It would be easy to give me a year's discount to say thank you. It would be easy for them to send an email to verify my address to send me merch. Do I want the merch? No, not really. But have they tried?
Have they even sent me an email saying "We appreciate your 15 years of support! We value you!" with little confetti animation? They didn't do it at 10 years. They didn't do it at 5 years. I don't recall ever receiving emails from netflix besides "Unfortunately, our payment model is changing."
As of today, I haven't pulled my account yet. I want to finish Bridgerton, even if this season is a snoozefest. But I think I will. I feel had and used, as pathetic as that sounds. Has Hulu done anything different? I can't remember when I signed up for them but it's been many years. No, but I frankly use it more, so I'm less angry. And with netflix...it's been fifteen years. They have really banked on us being passive in our payments, and accustomed to the freedom of endless choice, and it just feels gleeful that they never even once acknowledged I've been here this whole time. Actually, act like Sears and Bloomingdales 60 years ago, or we quit I think we should say. Ask me my address to send me a glass netflix mug or I'll fuck off, because who do you think you are to think so little of me, the only reason you exist for?

What if Sunjae didnāt die that night? Part 3 (lovely runner au)
[Read Part 1 and Part 2 here.]
Sunjae stood outside Solās apartment, wearing a hat and mask, gazing at the door. His hand momentarily goes up to ring the doorbell but stops a breadth away.
This goes on for at least three times before he decides to turn away and leave, reprimanding himself for giving into his selfishness and choosing to do this. Just as he was about to take a step to leave, the door opens and Solās voice drifts out to him.
āUmma! Iām coming in 10 minutes.ā
Except, Sol sees Sunjae and her eyes widen. There were only a few times Sunjae was able to truly look at Solās face. Each time was of such great magnitude that it forever altered both their lives. But strangely enough, there wasnāt a moment when he could just simply look at Sol - how her face brightens up and her eyes harbour tiny crinkles, how you can practically read every single emotion as it flits across her face, how there was never any holding back from her - no veils.
The door is about to close on her face when Sunjae grabs it. Did she recognise him?
āSunjae-ya!ā
Of course she did. It warmed his heart (even though his brain told him that not many people are built like him and a hat or mask doesnāt alter much).
āWhat are you doing here?ā Sol asks once she got over her initial shock, beaming.
There was some chatter outside that both of them heard at the same time, Sunjae didnāt pay it much attention but Sol pushed the door open with one hand and grabbed him by coat to pull him inside the house. The door closing behind them as Sunjae leans over Sol, his hands on the arms of her wheelchair.
Solās eyes widen even more and she looks away from him, startled.
āI didnāt want anyone to see you and spread gossip about you!ā Sol rushed out.
Sunjae takes a deep breath, a whiff of Solās soft floral scent coming to him. He gives her a slow nod.
Just then Solās mother comes through after spotting a tall man in her entryway.
āOh, youāre here! I hope it wasnāt difficult finding the apartment. Come in, come in!ā
Sol looks at her mom quizzically, her brows furrowed. But she couldnāt ask her mom much without offending Sunjae so she turns to him and gesture for him to go in - a big smile on her face.
As Sunjae goes ahead, Sol hurriedly asks her mom whatās up by frantic hand motions and expressions. She was blatantly ignored as her mom focuses on Sunjae and making him comfortable.
āI know you said you only have a short time so Iāve set up dinner already! Thank you for coming,ā Bok-soon says to Sunjae as he bows.
Sol goes to help her mom out (and to ask questions) but she never gets the opportunity between back and forth from the kitchen and Sunjae being right there. When they finally settle down, it was a tad bit awkward because no one was really sure what to say. Sol couldnāt outright ask him about things as his fan - she didnāt want to make him uncomfortable. Sunjae was second guessing himself about every single thing anyway so he kept his mouth shut.
āThank you for inviting me,ā Sunjae bows to her.
āEat well!ā Bok-soon says before helping him to dishes.
As enthusiastic as Sol was about Ryu Sunjae literally being in her living room, she was a bit out of her mind. In her heart, she wanted to give everything to him and fatten him up before he leaves. In reality, she was trying to not stare at him and not make him feel like an alien. She wasnāt sure if that was working despite her best tries.
At last, Sunjae says, āI know your mom from way back.ā
āHuh?ā
Bok-soon joins in, āCorrect, we were neighbours, Sol-a! They lived right across us when we had the dvd store. Itās a wonder that you didnāt know.ā
Sol was flabbergasted.
āI know we moved from there soon enough but even then itās strange that you never saw him!ā
Sol refuses to believe it - how could Sunjae be right across her? It felt like a joke.
āUmma, it must be someone else. How could we be neighbours?ā Sol insists.
Solās mom moves to hit her, āare you doubting my memory?! Ask him yourself since youāll believe him.ā
Sol makes a face at her mom but doesnāt ask Sunjae.
āSheās right, we lived across each other before your family moved,ā Sunjae says softly, focusing on his food.
Sol goes silent at that. Today was full of surprises: first it was Sunjae at her home then she finds out they were neighbours. Was she dreaming? This couldnāt be real. She shakes her head with a small laugh. Both her mom and Sunjae look at her and she quickly shakes her head at them.
This was getting worse by the minute. All that confusion wouldnāt even let her enjoy Sunjae having dinner with her.
But she was inquisitive by nature so Sol continues, āwhere did you two meet again?ā
āOh, just down-ā
Sunjae interrupts, a bit of panic in his voice, āI was in the neighbourhood with my manager since he had to pick something up from someone and your mom saw me when I stepped out to get some air.ā
Solās eyes narrow, she puts her finger on her chin doubting every single thing in that moment. But how could she call her Sunjae a liar? So she gives him a big, wide smile and nodded at him to continue eating.
*
The sheer panic that gripped Sunjae when Sol was about to find out that he was there that night - that he had followed her friendās car to her home - a chill went through him. Yeah, he didnāt want her to know many things but especially that. Heād rather be a stranger to her than considered stalker.
But was he a stranger to her? The amount of bright, wide smiles he had received from Solā¦. his heart expanded and expanded. Every. Single. Time. His regular, slowed heartbeat felt like it was in a constant marathon in her presence. For a second, he felt tempted to hold his heart and physically calm it down somehow. But he was sure Sol would think something was wrong with him so he abandoned that feeling. It was the first time he knew Sol in an ordinary, mundane setting. And he realised one sure thing about her: she had a penchant for dramatics. He chuckled, much to the surprise of his manager who stared at him through rare view mirror.
It went better than he thought. There wasnāt boisterous conversation or anything but it felt light and comfortable - Sunjae hadnāt felt that in ages. He thought back to Solās sweet goodbye.
*
āAt this time, there shouldnāt be anyone so youāll be fine! Have you called your manager?ā Sol asked as Sunjae wore his shoes.
He nodded at her.
āOkay then it shouldnāt be a problem. Iāll come with you so you get to the car safe and sound, donāt worry!ā Sol nodded to herself, decisiveness in her tone.
Sunjae wanted to laugh - it wasnāt as if he couldnāt go down by himself. But it was endearing to see her like that. He smiled to himself before turning around.
Only to see Sol beaming up at him, yet again. There was no other word for it. He wished he could pocket that smile forever.
Solās mother comes to the entryway, āThank you for coming, Sunjae. It was so nice having you here. Thank you for letting me do this little thing.ā
Unbeknownst to Sol, Sunjae and her mother were on a different tangent. Despite her suspicion, Sol didnāt pry too much about the story - not that there were any lies, they were just half-truths.
āThank you for hosting me, everything was great. You didnāt have to do this,ā Sunjae bowed to her.
Bok-soon shrugged, ānonsense! It was just a meal. Feel free to come again whenever you feel like.ā
Sunjae bowed to her again before turning to the door.
Just as he was about to go out, Sol went, āoh no, wait! I had to give you something. Let me go grab it!ā
She quickly circled and wheeled to her room. Sunjaeās heart prickled and he looked down. He didnāt even want to see her mother lest he sees her sadness. But when Sol came back, there was a bouquet of sunflowers on her lap and her mother smiling at Sol.
He looked down at Sol who held out the bouquet to him, āthese are from my plants so they are extra special and very important to me and I want to give them to you.ā
She looked down shyly, still holding out the flowers.
Solās mother laughed, āYouāre lucky, Sunjae, because she doesnāt give her sunflowers to anyone!ā
Sunjae took the flowers from Sol, his heart felt like it was about to burst out from his chest.
āThank you,ā he knew that those two words would never be able to encapsulate even 1/4th of his feelings, forget all of them.
āYouāre welcome, Sunjae!ā
āIām going to head in and check in on Umma, get home safe,ā Solās mother said before leaving.
Sunjae was about to say bye and leave before Sol went, āokay, letās go. Iāll drop you to your car.ā
She opened the door, checked both sides, and then gestured for Sunjae to come out.
With his mask and hat on, he looked comical next to Sol. Their height difference extra stark with her sitting.
āYou know you donāt have to come with me. I can go by myself just the way I came up,ā he said as they moved towards one end of the floor.
āYeah but what if someone recognises you? Oh no, we canāt have that!ā She kept looking around as if someone would fly in from the sky on 3rd floor.
āAnd then Iāll have to come and drop you back to your home,ā he teased, surprised at himself.
Sol scrunched her nose before looking at him, āwhy would you do that?ā
He shrugged, ābecause you were my neighbour. I need to make sure youāre home safe.ā
Sol shook her head, āit doesnāt make sense. How could I have never seen you?ā
He shrugged, not getting into details.
They had reached the stairs and accessibility ramp.
Sunjae stopped and turned to fully face Sol before kneeling down, āthank you for having me for dinner and thank you for these flowers from your plants. Iāll treasure them for a long, long time.ā
Sol chuckled, āflowers only last for a short while. You donāt have to be extra sweet and say that.ā
āWhat if I prove you wrong?ā
Sol doesnāt reply, just shakes her head as if he was silly.
Gaining whatever little courage he could muster, he went ahead, āhow about I give you my number and you can check in on updates about these flowers if you like?ā
Solās eyes widened, she shook her head. āNo, no, what if it gets accidentally released?ā
He raised his eyebrows, āyouāll release it?ā
She almost smacks him before realising he was Ryu Sunjae, āI would NEVER do that but still you should be careful with your number and not give it to anyone.ā
āAre you anyone?ā
She nodded. Sunjae almost laughed out loud.
āHow about I give you my number and you can just text me about these flowers when youāve figured out the magical solution to keep them alive, okay?ā Sol pressed her hands together, biting her lip, unsure.
Sunjae handed his phone to her to add in her number.
āThank you for trusting me with your number,ā he comments, putting the phone back.
āWell, you arenāt a stranger to me. Now letās go!ā
Sol made a move to go down the ramp but Sunjae stopped her.
āYou really donāt need to come drop me off. Iām a grown man, I can go down by myself. You should go back home, Iāll feel much better.ā
She shook her head, ānope, Iāll come. What if something happens?ā
Sunjae put a hand on her arm to stop her, āand then Iāll come back up to send you home. This will keep going on the entire night. Plus the longer we argue here, the more chances of someone seeing us.ā
Sol looked around again, she was about to say something but then saw Sunjaeās face and gave in, āokay, can you text me when youāre in your car?ā
He nodded. But to tease her, he couldnāt help but add, āthen youāll have my number.ā
She shrugged, āthen text me from your managerās number. I won't bother him, I promise."
He turned away from her to lowly chuckle, "okay, I'll do that. Now you go home."
āOkay, goodnight, Sunjae! Get home safe, eat well!ā She bowed a bit to him before waving and going back to her apartment, turning around once to urge him to leave.
Back in the car, Sunjae texts her from his number and receives a thumbs up on his update. No more, no less. Still, he smiles to himself.

someone mentioned on one of the dvds for marble hornets (posted on youtube) that it feels very isolated because you never really see anyone else unless they're a part of it
and i think that marble hornets, despite starting it, not being a real part of the slenderverse adds to this
hoodie and masky r kind of separate from it all
they're not the same as the creepypastas (you know, murder obsessed teens) and don't really know about anyone else in their situation (the rest of the slenderverse). not to mention slenderman just straight up traps them, and they can't really go around normal people because they don't fit in there anymore either
can imagine this doesn't really help
like pov u live with an eldritch forest thing who royally fucks up any device if its around it for too long. you've been living with it for like 10 years. you rarely go around real people anymore if not to kill them. you don't have anyone else around you, except for maybe one person, whom you still have a strained relationship with because of, you know, them stalking you, letting your friends die (even though that's your fault isn't it) and then they died (that's your fault too). you were friends at some point but the relationship won't be nearly the same. there's a barrier up that wasn't there before.
you hate the having to do what you do to survive now, but you have no other choice. still raining under the awning whatever
you couldnt really pay the phone bill because you couldnt really get a job, so youre relying on what little it gives you to keep you happy enough to stay. you step out, finally, and check the internet, because it actually *works* now,
and find out there's so many other people who were in the exact same position as you, were fighting as hard as they could to get through it. and didn't make it
but you did, because you joined it and play house with it and a bunch of serial killers to survive
so now there's nothing out there for you and you somehow feel lonelier than before
#mmmreposting this from discord bc i havent posted it here#marble hornets#creepypasta#mostlyyyy...#raviart#blurry

well ! if I'm posting about my other interests ! have a little how-to guide for getting into marble hornets:
firstly, what is it.
that's an answer in two parts! it's a foundational indie horror web series on youtube that was beloved in its time for its mystery, atmosphere, and editing (pioneering or popularizing many of the techniques that you'll see more commonly now in the analogue horror genre, just with the budget of college students in 2009).
and it's remembered fondly Now for its fascinating representation of mental health (in how it subverts the harmful ways that horror tends to depict more stigmatized disorders, but Also in how it depicts mental and physical health in general), and the underlying queer themes that While subtext at the time have ultimately been confirmed as intentional as one co creators (and actor for the main character) has come out as bisexual!
it is Also a wildly creative and beautiful comic series. written solely by troy wagner (the aforementioned co-creator) and illustrated by jackie reynolds (a long time fan of the series and insanely talented illustrator). taking place after the events of the webseries, the comics take full advantage of this new visual medium to express the horror, atmosphere, and emotions of the series in a more visceral way. and being self published they're free to make whatever they'd like
done entirely in water color and ink, it builds beautifully on what was laid down with the original series and carves out its own identity and legacy.
it's also just very lovely seeing queer creators who were once writing subtext be able to just. Be Open about it. both about themselves and their characters. it's a horror story that happens to have queer characters mind, but it's just ! nice.
.
now ! being internet horror that's sat in that weird space between args and analogue horror (nightmind would call it Unfiction, but unfortunately that term hasn't caught on as much as I'd have liked) it's not as simple to get into as just like, Watching A Show.
that's not to say you Can't just watch it, but rather I have ways to help you get more out of it :>
1: The full chronological playlist for the marble hornets web series, including the totheark replies: [Link]
this is exactly what it says on the tin ! the entire series in order, I've even included the dvd extras at the end of each season !
two notes: firstly, the full series is captioned, and I think they're very nice captions! and secondly, there's a lot of loud noises in the series, which the captions help mitigate a bit. this is due in part to the nature of the kind of horror it is (though it doesn't have straight up jumpscares), but Also because troy wagner was HoH at the time he was doing the audio editing for the series.
there's significantly fewer issues with the audio as the series goes on (troy actually got surgery for his hearing!) but for the most part it's fine just keeping it Somewhat lower. except entry five. entry five is so very loud <3
.
2: The in-character twitter for jay merrick (the main character of marble hornets): [Link]
much like the youtube channel is presented as being ran by the main character/pov character of the series (jay merrick), the twitter was created to run along-side the main series! it mostly exists to give us further insight into jay's mental state and personal life that you don't get in the main series, especially early on!
it's a little cumbersome nowadays, especially since twitter doesn't Like being archival. but you kind of just have to scroll all the way to the bottom to when the twitter was created and scroll up to follow along jlkfasdjlkfdas
this is made a Little more difficult because the account got hacked in 2020 and reinstated 2021, so all of the dates are wrong now. but the account always posted when new entries were uploaded so it's easy to watch an entry, check what was posted after it was uploaded, and then see the link for the next entry and know to stop until you've watched.
you don't Have to do it this way, but I think it's the way to get the most out of it!
.
3: All of the translated codes for totheark/tta listed in order: [Link]
back in the day, youtube allowed you to make Video Replies, which would be displayed Under whatever video you were responding to! this feature was ultimately removed because of the tendency to do make clickbait in response to whatever was currently popular, but it was Wonderful in this instance !
the youtube channel and twitter were presented as in character, and they took advantage of this by having a second channel created (named totheark) start Replying to the entries as they were uploaded. these videos were highly edited and contained codes and secrets that were meant as messages to the main character (and the audience)!
there was a dedicated community for code breaking throughout the show's entire life, and this list here goes through every one! I like this one in particular because it Also gives us information on How the codes were broken, in a digestible way.
.
4: Nightmind's marble hornets explained series: [Link]
this is definitely Optional. it's obviously not official media, is outdated now that the comics have started, and I'd say was flawed even at its release. (it's not a spoiler if nobody knows what I'm talking about, so I'll say now that I'm not a fan of his theory with masky, and the seth theory is very famously silly).
BUT! I Do think it's a very good resource when it comes to putting certain crucial things together. as the whole point of the series is that it's a Mystery. you see nearly everything out of order and you're intentionally limited in what you know about characters and their motivations. this series works as a good jumping off point in that it helps to put things into Context and change your perspective on certain events and character With the benefit of said context!
like I said, it's not Required, it might just be helpful! a starting point to help chew on things once you've watched the web series in full for the first time.
.
Comics!: [Link]
comics ! they're all available on troy wagner's personal website! (along with other goodies that are periodically available!) you can buy them either physically Or digitally ! personally I'd recommend digital, as it's cheaper, instantly available, and the digital extras are wonderful!
they come with the script for the comics, a commentary version (including comments from troy and jackie on every page), and other extras like backgrounds, behind the scenes sketches, character art, etc!
I would very much so suggest buying the comics if you're interested. this is an indie project being ran and funded by two people (and again! there's other goodies in the store that are worth looking at). buttttttt, my friends may dm me <3
.
Extras! [Extras]
Anniversary streams [Link] on a few different anniversaries for the series several of the creators have done streams rewatching the series and reacting to it live ! this is a playlist where I've collected all of the instances that I could find :>
I Also included the dvd commentary here ! the format is different, but it's a similar concept so, why not ljkfsdajklfasd
.
Interviews, QnA's, and con appearances: [Link] exactly what it sounds like !
I was, at one point, overtaken by some kind of madness and hunted down for every single Person Records Marble Hornets Creators Talking About Marble Hornets thing I could find, and then attempted to put it in order. this is just ! for fun. I do so adore it though, I have one con panel that was recorded on someone's 3ds.
.
My silly posts:
some analysis posts I've main on my main account since having watched the series ! these all contain spoilers so I wouldn't suggest watching them until you've seen the show (though I Would suggest reading them if you do choose to watch the explained series)
this is my post going into what I think masky is supposed to be/represent, and why it's Important [Link] which I think pairs nicely with this post by tim sutton (one of marble hornet's actors) [Link]
my discussions on jay's mental health and behavior and how they're often misunderstood (which won't necessarily be needed if you've read through his twitter jlkfasdlkjafds) [Link 1, Link 2]
confirmation that jay is canonically queer :> [Link]
.
Social Media
Social media for various marble hornets creatives !
Troy wagner (co-creator, actor for jay): Tumblr [Link] Twitter [Link] Instagram [Link]
Jackie Reynolds (main artist for the comics): Tumblr [Link] Twitter [Link] Instagram [Link] Linktree [Link]
Tim Sutton (actor for tim (I know)): Tumblr (inactive): [Link] Twitter: [Link]
Joseph DeLage (co-creator, actor for alex): Twitter [Link]

Hazbin Hotel Sketchbook Tour Part 10
Masterpost
I need to preface this one by saying that Vox(while not my favorite character) is my favorite redesign. I've made him look so wonderfully stupid, and it makes me laugh every time I look at it.
But first, Angel Dust.
Design notes will be under the cut.
Design notes under the cut
Angel Dust: So Angel makes me uncomfortable. The innuendos and raunchy jokes are not my cup of tea. It's part of why I struggled with his redesign so much. But I think I've finally managed to balance it while also alluding to his mobster roots.
I remember reading somewhere(not sure how canonicallt viable this is but I'm running with it) that Angel doesn't dress super provocatively outside of work. He's more inclined to dress comfy. So I gave him some lounge attire.
But I'm sure he would still want to dress up when out and about in town. So I gave him an outfit vaguely reminiscent of a mobster with the pinstripes and pseudo suit jacket, but also diverts away from it by leaning more into the fashion. He may keep up with modern fashions decently, but he's still a product of his time and upbringing. He's still got some mobster in him. I also preferred the look of his shorter gloves from the pilot, at least on his main set of arms. The second set has long ones like in the series, which would help the animators differentiate them. Tbh, I'd scrap the second set of gloves entirely if only it didn't feel in character.
Overall, I like this outfit for him. I think it balances his femininity and masculinity.
Idk if anyone noticed, but I don't like drawing characters with only 4 fingers. Something about it bothers me. So I've been doing everyone with 5. But I make an exception for extra limbs. Angels' second set of arms has 4 fingers, and the third has 3. Also, the extra sets are black and more bug-like than the main set. I do this to others, like Valentino, as well.
I've also noticed a lot of redesigns give him prominent spider fangs, and I just never liked how any of them looked on him. Instead, I gave him normal teeth fangs
Vox: To begin, Vox needed more bulk so his body could concievably support the old TV models. Twink size wasn't cutting it. The change also had the side effect of making him shorter, which just works better proportionately.
I liked the idea that Vox could never get rid of his original bulky 50s TV, but also wanted him to be able to upgrade. So I decided his true body is the 50s TV, and he adds an upgraded monitor as a head as technology improves. He's hates that he's stuck as an old fashioned TV, so he hides that under his suit. Since the monitor is just an addition, it can be swapped out easily. It can be damaged and he's technically unharmed. But he has to reveal his true body in order to see without the monitor. Unless he wants to use surrounding cameras and move via third person view.
Next, I don't like that everyone seems to have sharp teeth. I want more variety. (Similar to the whole bowtie deal) So I gave Vox "regular" teeth, which help him look more trustworthy. It fits the corrupt businessman vibe. Because his head is a screen, his face can change appearance based on both what he wants and what mood he's in. When he's angry, his face may glitch out, become too big for the monitor, and/or his teeth can become sharp. He might have to reboot after a Blue Screen of Death if he gets too worked up. When he's bored or tired a Voxtech logo will bounce around like the DVD logo, or display a screensaver. When hes feeling sheepish his face will get smaller on the screen(not that he'd ever feel ashame about anything, of course), etc. So many possibilities. I really want an excuse to give him a troll face at some point. It may be an old meme, but it feels appropriate.
Anyway, I love how stupid not having a head makes him look. He looks like SpongeBob and it's hilarious.

Aqua plans to die.
And his death will be necessary to take Kamiki down.
While the full details of Aquaās revenge plan isnāt entirely clear to all of us yet, his intention to place himself in danger as he tries to take Kamiki down is a very clear, and very crucial part of the plot that he anticipates.
Before we can dive into how Aqua is going to achieve his revenge, we need to back up a little bit and understand who he is as a person, how he makes decisions, and what he personally wants.
What is Aquaās Goal?
From a top-level view, Aqua has a singular emotional goal:
Aqua wishes to take responsibility for the deaths of his mothers.
Aqua/Gorou absolutely believes that after two lives of the same thing, that he was the common denominator. He was the fault his mothers both died, because he was useless and helpless. Had he never been conceived, and more crucially, if his mothers did not have to lie about his existence, they would have both stayed alive. If Gorouās mom didnāt have to conceal the pregnancy from her parents, or did not have one at all, she would have lived a long life. He believes that perhaps his second chance at life was to save Ai, but he was paralyzed and helpless during her murder. He blames himself for Aiās death too.
This is a driving force in Aquaās character, and informs all of his decision making, even to the detriment of his own plans most times. It leads us to his supplementary goal:
Aqua wants to keep the people he loves safe.
Whether it was shielding Ruby from entertainment or making sure sheās in a safe agency with good group members, or Akane not going too far in enacting his revenge plot for him, or Kana from steering clear of a career-ending love scandal, Aquaās key traumas has led him to feel compelled to take action and do whatever it takes to save people if he had the power to do so.
Here is a breakdown of Aquaās plans, and some key questions we have to ask about each one.
1. Why make a movie called The 15-Year Lie? And what isĀ āAiās true wishā?
I have reason to believe that Aiās DVD for Aqua would have either been a message about wishing to be loved truly and be hated with full honesty for the person she really was, that she wanted her actual self to be revealed to people. In line with that, I think Aquaās DVD included Gotandaās original documentary for the B-Komachi dome event. Which is why Gotanda tried to defend Aqua's decision to reveal her secret in chapter 112, and why in chapter 108 Gotanda says about the script thatĀ āthis is finally my time to fulfill that promise.ā
2. What does he mean byĀ āusing Arima Kanaā?
There were theories circulating that the person who texted Frill Shiranui could have been Aqua, trying to get her to encourage Ruby to play the role of Ai in the film. However, that couldnāt be any farther from the truth. As we know, Aqua was saying that Gotanda shouldĀ āgrow upā and understand that the most important thing for a movie is to succeed commercially first before we talk about artistic value.Ā
If Aqua had full control over the situation, he would have just straight up casted Akane. After all, that was what he initially proposed, and even contacted her for it despite saying heāll never have anything to do with her again. What he needed, more than anything, was for the film to succeed commercially. And with the headlining actress no longer (a) the most famous celebrity of their generation, or (b) the heralded genius of their generation, Aqua has no other options.
Except: Arima Kana.
I think the aspect of him using her or manipulating her is mainly to encourage her publicity activities. Heāll be encouraging her to do well in her work to garner more star power for the movie to really be a success, and for her to help his sister be the perfect lead for the show. Heās also going to bank on the idea that Kana will do things for him because she has a crush on him, which he only realized in Chapter 102 after Mem-cho points it out, that he can pursuade Kana to get out of the way of his revenge plot if necessary to keep her safe or place her in the spotlight to attract peopleās attention for the movie.
While unlikely, he might even encourage her to stay on a little longer until Ruby gets to the Dome performance.
Or, and maybe this is my shipping delulu talking, but it can also be that heāll try to just be around her frequently to garner media attention about their relationship. In this way, keeping her close without actually dating her could serve a dual purpose: get people talking about them and the movie, but also make sure that Kana stays safe and nobody makes a rumor of pairing her up with anybody else.
Lastly, also not super likely but another option could be to convince her to headline the show, and play Ai in Rubyās stead.
3. Why does Kaburagi say that the film is bordering on illegal?
This is a truly crucial piece to unveiling Aquaās plot. We know Kaburagi likes producing shows that include good-looking young people, and that seems to be his main strategy for raking in young audiences and cashing out.
So why would he have hesitated, even for a second, on a plan to cast the top talent of this young generation, on the biggest news Japan has been talking about, handed to him by a first-hand source--the son of Ai himself?
On all accounts, this would have been the perfect formula for a smash success. So why would Kaburagi say things like,Ā ādo you have enough evidenceā, when everybody already knew about the University student stalker that murdered her? What was so controversial?
Unless, when they said Aqua will play the culprit, they didnāt mean the Ryosuke.
They meant he was playing Hikaru Kamiki.
Hereās what we know about the film, and what I think Aqua is trying to do:
1. Portray Kamiki in the worst possible way and destroy his reputation.
The 15-Year Lie will be a biopic about Aiās life from when she was starting out as an idol.Ā Ai will be portrayed as a poor girl abandoned by her parents, searching for the true meaning of love. We know that this framing will be part of Aiās characterization because of the scenes where Ruby struggled the most:
In the search for love, they will show her falling for a young man and talented actor at Theatre Lalalai--that being Hikaru Kamiki. Once he gets Ai pregnant, he abandons her, and she runs off to the countryside to hide from the press. When Ai asked him to come visit her, Kamiki, in wanting to protect his career, attempted to send out a stalker. A few years later, seeing his kids wotagei on social media, he manages to find them again and kill Ai.
It is a complete and utter character assasination of Hikaru Kamiki, and while revealing Ai as a flawed person, draws for the sympathy of the viewers to love Ai for who she truly is. Which is exactly why Gotanda keeps insisting for Ruby to play the role, even when Aqua and Kaburagi have sensible recommendations for Akane and Frill.
At that moment, when Ai dies, Aqua will reveal his face, and openly declare that it was his father who orchestrated it all.Ā Then he might even portray his father murdering Ryosuke himself, instead of the suicide that was reported in the media.
2. Aqua will use himself to bait his father out, and force Kamikiās hand to kill Aqua.
The main reason why Aqua finds it necessary for the film to be a commercial success is because he needs the general public to be one hundred percent in agreement that Hikaru Kamiki is an evil man that deserves to be jailed. (Whether or not he reveals his name in the film, which he could but doesnāt need to.) This public lynching is his first control.
But hereās the thing: Kamiki didnāt directly murder Himekawa Airi and Hoshino Ai himself. At this point in time, Aqua is not aware of Katayose Yuraās murder either. And there is no evidence that connects Uehara Seijirou and Ryosukeās suicides as murders by Kamikiās hands.
And on top of all that, when these things happened, Kamiki was fully a minor.
Akaneās fears and interpretation was that Aqua would murder his own father because itās the only form of revenge he could enact himself.Ā
But sheās wrong, thereās one more thing Aqua could do: make Kamiki commit murder again. If he kills Aqua, there will now be a murder that the public agrees without a doubt was done by Kamiki himself.
He can go to jail once and for all, or he can also get stabbed by an angry fan--Aqua doesnāt care. All he cares about is that itās a sure win, and itās over forever. He launches his sisterās career into the spotlight, he keeps everybody safe, and he atones for the death of his mothers with his own life.
In summary: Aqua plans to get killed by his father, so that an actual murder has occurred for which he could be jailed or publicly ostracized or even killed.
And hereās why I think Aqua will fail:
Aquaās assumptions about his father are incorrect.
He believes that Kamikiās reason for killing Ai was because her pregnancy would ruin his reputation and career as a rising actor. Thatās why Aqua tries to hit him there. And he believes defaming him might provoke him to get killed.
But I donāt think Kamiki cared about his reputation at all anymore. He left his career as an actor behind after Kindaichi kicked him out of Lalalai, and went on to graduate from Faculty of Science. He never went back in front of the spotlight, instead opening a talent agency around the exact time he believed his kids might be joining the industry.
I have reason to believe that Kamiki thinks murdering Airi and Ai was to protect his childrenĀ or some other great act of justice against his rapist(s). And that even killing Katayose Yura was done because he didnāt want a liar like her to take the spotlight that was supposedly for his daughter Ruby.
I donāt think Kamiki will harm Aqua.
But I do think he will come forward and expose himself and his twisted justification, and he might even openly give interviews to the media.
Instead, I do believe Kamiki might pay attention to Kanaās honest acting--something heās never seen before in a person, and try to get close to her somehow. And if Kamikiās name is not revealed, and if the theories are true that Frill works for Kamikiās agency, he might recruit Kana to join him.
All this is to say, get Kana out of this manga. Somebody, please save her.

Dont talk to me I'm trying to process the latest chapter it was a lotšš everyone made me wanna cry. Jon so fiercely trying to protect his father (and brother), jon confronting the king, the rhea feels!! Him wanting to hate her but feeling guilty a part of him loves her and that redfort jon relished in her love bc he was so deprived of affection!! ššš the cat and Robb parallels! Ghost feels!! The baelon and aemon shadow/ghosts were SO present this chapter. How jon is soooo much like daemon even in his internal thoughts ššš jon noticing the similarities between viserys and daemon and how viserys probably took care of daemon when they were younger and they probably got it from THEIR dad! Uwah gonna cry. And then you've got daemon seeing rhaegar die in aemon's place and that mixing in with his canon death broooooo that's a lot. Daemon scaring and hurting rhaegar šššš dude ik he's thinking about aerys rnššššš and poor caraxes something is messing with their rider and interfering with their bond but he cannot do anything about itttttššš
There was so much cute moments at the start of the chap with jon and rhaegar playing detectives and debriefing and then rhaegar excitedly sharing his dragon discoveries with their dad and their dad reading to them in HV (and then translating after for jon cute) ik he was relishing being able to have a story time with his kidsš„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ
Anyways this chapter made me feel a lot. This is all so very convoluted I hope it makes sense rnwjsjw I just love it sm
This chapter sure was A Lotā¢ļø, wasn't it? I made sure to throw in the sweet moments at the start to offset (enhance?) some of those punches later.
The Rhea feels honestly caught me by surprise when I was writing the Jon+Viserys scene. They sort of just--bubbled up to the surface. Jon's been trying to suppress Jon Redfort's emotions/memories for a while now, and it's hard when so many frightening/painful/awful things have happened to both of them. And Jon is particularly attuned to a child being treated differently/poorly by a mother figure, except he's on the other end of it this time, so there's that added complexity of seeing himself in Raymar, both the loved and the unloved, that he has to deal with.
(Also my heart was breaking in two for little Raymar, who wanted so desperately to love and be loved by Rhea in return. It's not that she didn't, it's that it was much more difficult for her, and when you're a twin, that inequality is so incredibly obvious. It hurts and they had no Ned to give them at least one source of parental affection.)
And then the rest of the breakfast scene...I think Viserys kept going back and forth between seeing Baelon and Daemon in Jon, though more of Baelon in the end, with Jon laying it out so adamantly what his duty as a brother was. And of course we got the inevitable Viserys-Daemon friction in those moments when Jon most reminded him of Daemon. It's a shame that Jon's tough love isn't really what Viserys needs to mend things with Daemon, because the problem isn't that Viserys doesn't love Daemon (though him not protecting his own brother, especially where Otto's insinuations are concerned, is certainly a flaw), it's that he's shit at expressing it and reluctant to trust Daemon enough to explain things.
(It's hard to explain in narrative format where Jon was sitting/where Daemon always sits, but it's basically at the end/"head" of the table, while Viserys usually sits at the end of the side facing the window. And that detail killed me a little when I realized it, because that's where I've always written Daemon sitting in his scenes there with Viserys, and it's so obvious why. Viserys seats him in an inverted version of that during their supper the first night in King's Landing, with Viserys at the head and Daemon to his side. It's the closest Daemon can get to being his brother's Hand.)
...I'm realizing as I'm writing this that I should probably be throwing this in the DVD commentary, but oh well, I can copy-pasta it there later.
I've been calling the Daemon-trance scene a low-grade horror scene for Rhaegar, because imagine that from his POV, especially given his history with Aerys. He's operating at maximum Aerys-mode for a while, reading Daemon at speeds enviable by modern CPUs so that he can figure out how to defuse the situation / "fix" him before any (unintentional) harm is done. And the parallels with Aerys's paranoia is incredibly uncomfortable, even if he understands that Daemon is suffering under an outside influence.
Meanwhile, Caraxes is all: GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF HIM, wishing he could pick Daemon up and cuddle him until the sorcerer scent is completely gone. (He's had to deal with his own version of that before, of having his bond with Daemon tampered with, and it's even more upsetting from the other side!)
And you made perfect sense! There was just so much to process.

Rufus on his performance as an amnesiac in "Dark City": "Obviously he (Murdoch) was going to be the center of the film, but he was going to be a blank pamphlet. I thought, 'Well, that's an interesting thing to play.' Someone who's basically a child, born into the world with an adult's instincts but without any of the experiences to back them up. You wouldn't know what your face looked like, you wouldn't know what face you pulled. You wouldn't know whether your name was John, Jack or Beelzebub. I thought that would be interesting."
On working in the dark all the time making "Dark City": "It was weird. I'd flown all the way from England to Australia to see the land of sun, sea and sand. I arrive and they lock me in this aircraft hangar at 6 in the morning and let me out at 7 at night. Then they lock me up again the next morning. I didn't see the daylight during the week for a very, very long time."
"When Alex first sent me the sketches for that set, I was more excited than I had been when I read the script. The Underworld was truly remarkable -- a little bit scary, very thrilling, and full of hundreds of bald people."Ā buffalo news
To lead the ensemble, Proyas enlisted Rufus Sewell (Carrington, Cold Comfort Farm), whom Andrew Mason discovered during a trip to London when a friend suggested he see Sewell's latest play. "I was told he was the most exciting new actor coming out of England in years," says Mason. "I went to see him and thought he was extraordinary." After meeting with Alex Proyas and reading the script, Sewell accepted the role of John Murdoch, which was a departure from the kinds of film roles he has played to date.
"I never thought about being in a science fiction film before, normally, there's not much for an actor to do in a film like that, except to point at things and say, Ć«Oh, look at the size of that!' or Ć«I've never seen one of those -- they've been extinct for 4,000 years!' But this is part film noir, part science fiction, part fairy tale, and it has really vibrant roles for actors."
"My character is on a quest to find out who he is. I've had experiences in my life when I thought I was on the edge of madness, and I drew on those experiences to play Murdoch."

The Sweater
Part two of my Charlie fic. Currently unnamed
(part one)
A/N: this has not proofread but was edited by a grammar bot. I'm trying my best to keep everything consistent and not giving to many specifics about the reader. I'm experimenting with formating. If anyone has advice or constructive criticism, please share.
(edit: name change. Formerly unnamed)
TW: mentions of stalking (?), Spoilers for the movie Psycho, I think that's it
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I can feel the warmth of the early morning sun. I sit up, rubbing the sleepiness out of my eyes. I slept hard. Looking at the clock, it was only 8:30 a.m. I slowly drag myself out of bed, walking to my bathroom.Ā
It's cold.Ā The window is open. Did I leave that open? I could have sworn I closed it. It's not uncommon for me to. You'd think I'd be more weary considering I live in Woodsboro. The crime rate here is surprisingly low, if you ignore the Ghostface incidents.Ā
I began to analyze myself in the large mirror. I was still in the oversized sweater. My hair is messy, and there's an evident dusting of darkness under my eyes.Ā
I leaned towards the window and pulled the curtains to the side. Charlie is at his window. He's sitting at the desk in front of the window. He's staring at me. I climb into the bench of the window and wave. He doesn't wave back. Instead, he pulls his phone out.
I hear my phone ping, reminding me of the unread texts from last night. Sliding off the bench and walking into my room, I grab my phone off the nightstand. Two texts from Charlie, and two from an unknown contact.
Opening Charlie's texts, they read
3:00 am Can we talk?
9:00 am Can I come over?
Despite being embarrassed at the reminder of last night's events, I quickly texted back. Charlie should know that he's always welcome.Ā
Throwing my phone on the bed, I search for bottoms. Grabbing and slipping on a random pair of pajama bottoms, I hear the bathroom window being slid up. It's been squeaky for a week now. It served as a nice warning that Charlie had entered.Ā
As he walks into my room, I move towards the stack of DVDs.Ā
"What do you want to watch?" I asked Charlie, looking over just in time to see him flop down on my bed, face first, making my phone jump into the air. No answer. Deciding to throw on a classic, I slide a stolen copy of Psycho into the DVD player.
I shuffled over to the bed, sitting next to his head. I softly ran my hands through his hair.
"What's wrong, sweet boy?" I asked in a gentle manner. I wasn't expecting a full, in depth explanation. In fact, I wasn't sure I'd get an answer at all.
"Kirby" was all he said. That's all I needed to know. I continue to silently massage his scalp. In this case, it was best not to say anything. Charlie has had a crush on Kirby for longer than I've known him. Kirby was nice, maybe a little reckless. She was beautiful. I could absolutely understand why he liked her. Still, it hurts. I don't know why it hurts, but it does.
Charlie flipped around to lie on his back. Looking up at me with his light, tired, puppy dog eyes. Charlie is easy to read. You can see his emotions through his eyes.Ā
Except in this case. The emotion in his eyes is unrecognizable. I've never seen this emotion flash through his eyes.Ā
As if he noticed me analyzing his eyes, he quickly looked away. He lays his cheek against my thigh and pulls at my sweater.
"I like when you wear this," he said, softly, yet bluntly.Ā
My face got warm. Quickly, I turned my head to the tv. Watching as Norman stabs Marion while she's showering. Still focused on his comment, I almost don't hear how Charlie mumbles something about how I'm wrong in thinking that Psycho was the first slasher.
Charlie and I are always debating about movies. One of the most common debates is whether Psycho or Peeping Tom was the first slasher. I know he's right. He always is. I can't let him win, though.
Letting out a small giggle, I started flattening out the hair that I had fluffed up. I felt him smile against my thigh. Leaning back against the wall, I looked at my phone.Ā
The unknown texts.
I forgot about those.
Grabbing my phone, I open the texts. There was no contact name.
3:30 am You really shouldn't leave your windows open. Can't put a girl with such good movie taste in danger.
3:30 am VIDEO MESSAGE
That doesn't make any sense. I open the video
It's me.Ā It's a video of me in bed, in just my sweater and underwear.
"What the fuck?"

šš» Boo Basket Ideas for Littles š»š
If you haven't heard about them before, a Boo Basket (or Boo Bucket or Boo Bag) is a basket filled with Halloween and fall-themed goodies - so, basically, a Halloween-themed Easter basket š
They're intended to be given to people of all ages - from parents to kids, neighbor to neighbor, spouse to spouse - basically, they're for everyone!
The reason I think these Boo Baskets are LITERALLY PERFECT for littles is because, for a lot of them, they either aren't comfortable or can't go out to go trick or treating. If that's not an option, then many are happy to simply pass out candy to trick-or-treaters... except when they can't even get the satisfaction from that because of a lack of trick or treating in their neighborhood.
There are always other available events, from local fairs, fall festivals, trunk-or-treats in random parking lots, theme parks, amusement parks, and other pay-a-fee-to-walk-around-and-get-candy events - but some littles may not be able to attend one of these either.
With no big event or activity to do, then some littles may feel left out or are otherwise let down by the time Halloween Day arrives.
But! Getting a Boo Basket can give them something to look forward to!
The Boo Basket itself can be anything - a trick-or-treat bucket, a woven basket, a cauldron, a paper bag - what matters is that it fits whatever you put inside it! It doesn't have to be big, nor do you have to put lots of items in it, it's the thought that counts!
Some things you can put in a Boo Basket:
Comfy Things! This is a big category that stretches from cozy socks to big, soft blankets! There's also sweaters, hoodies, and/or special Halloween pajamas!
Candles! Scents play a large part in setting a mood - from scents like Pumpkin Pie to a Ghostly Graveyard, there are plenty of aromas for any type of little!
A Mask! Depending on the little, one can tuck in a spooky, rubber monster mask, a fun, shiny plastic mask, or a plain wooden or paper cut-out mask that the little can decorate themselves!
Toys! There are so many possible toys one can throw in, but some ideas are a Halloween stuffie, a themed doll, a horror action figure, a wind-up toy, or a container of slime!
Books! There are plenty of picture books that are appropriately themed, as well as coloring books, but for older littles, some spooky horror books can also be a fun treat!
A Movie! Physical media isn't dead, so putting in a DVD or BluRay can be fun! There are compilations of Halloween episodes for kids shows, family-friendly flicks, and scary horror movies!
Treats! Any treat you think the little in question would like can go right in! From sweets like chocolates, gummies, lollipops, cookies, and marshmallows to more savory things like popcorn, pumpkin seeds, chips, and pastries, there are plenty of food one can throw in! Don't feel limited to food items though, as hot chocolate or coffee can be just as special!
Other Bits and Bobs! Stickers, bookmarks, lotions, bathbombs, glow sticks, puzzles, fidgets, decor, if you think the little in question would like it, toss it in!
If all these items and the variety of items are a bit overwhelming, one can also make a themed Boo Basket!
Some specific themes for a Boo Basket:
A Recipe and its Ingredients! Collecting all the items necessary for a specific recipe can make for a fun activity! You can also throw in new cutlery, flatware, or cups!
Movie Night! A blanket, movie, and popcorn - along with any other treats - can make for a perfect movie night!
Slime! Instead of simply buying some slime, making a slime recipe of choice is another fun activity - especially if themed mix-ins are there!
Glow Party! Halloween night is when festivities tend to start, so why not have a bunch of glow-in-the-dark items to play with when the sun goes down! Light-up items are just as fun, and last longer, so feel free to mix the two!
Sugar Rush! Just fill the basket with as much sugar-filled items as possible :) Your little can handle it responsibly :) It's fine :)
Jack-o'-Lantern! Place a medium to large pumpkin in the basket, along side either a carving kit or painting kit! Placing the ingredients preferred for roasted pumpkin seeds can make the whole affair an event! Toss in some mini pumpkins and markers to make a whole family!
Most of the items listed can be bought at a dollar store or other bargain stores, so they can be made with any budget! Don't stress about the amount of items you're getting, as, again, it's the thought that counts!
I hope if anyone makes or gets a Boo Basket, themed or not, that it brings them some needed Halloween spirit!
š»šHappy Halloween! šš»

SasaMyaa FujiSai Event (afternoon) Report
So! Today I attended the afternoon part of the SasaMyaa "Fujisai" event, a kind of post-Graduation Movie event to look back on it and have fun with the cast, which included the VAs of Sasaki, Miyano, Hirano, Kagiura, and Tashiro and Kuresawa as well. For ease of readers' understanding, I'll use the character names for the VAs throughout this report.
The stage (Yamano Hall, in Yoyogo, Tokyo) was set up to look like an actual festival, with little booths for games around the stage. This will become relevant later XD The audience was overwhelmingly women, but there were a few guys there too (including a few clearly there on their own as fans and not as boyfriends/husbands to their fan-wives).
The event opened with a small video recap of the movie, and then Tashiro and Kuresawa came out to introduce everyone as the MCs for the event. There was a huge monitor over the stage, through which were streamed live feeds of the actors (ostensibly for closeups so that the people in the back could get a good look at the stage, but also probably for future DVD releases).
All the actors introduced themselves, but when it came to Hirano's VA's turn to introduce himself, he shouted "Hirano~!" as a prompt for the audience. Except the audience had no idea what we were supposed to respond with (Taiga???), so he was greeted with DEAD SILENCE. Poor guy XD But then after a brief discussion of why he bombed so hard, Kagi's VA decided to try it too, and "Kagiura~!" was greeted with "Akira~!" from the audience XDDD He then explained that he'd really wanted to do a call-response with a different phrase, so we all let him say, "Hirano-san is soā¦" and then we responded with, "ā¦nice!" He did this several times throughout the event--Kagi's VA is very clearly the biggest KagiHira shipper out there XD
The next segment was spent discussin favorite scenes from the movies, decided in pairs (SasaMyaaand KagiHira, and then Tashiro and Kuresawa chose by themselves). This was made even better because, in MST3K style, the guys would riff on the scene while it was being played on the monitors lol. Sasaki's VA in particular loved lampooning his own performance. The favorite scenes were as follows:
1) SasaMyaa: the opening scene on the train platform 2) Kuresawa: Miyano and Satoko's conversation in the park 3) Tashiro: Sasaki summoning Miyano to the empty classroom after he got his acceptance letter 4) KagiHira: the very last scene with the smooch in the committee room, but SPECIFICALLY the crumbs of Kagi and Hirano you get in that scene
The next segment was UPCOMING NEWS!
Sanrio collab! I know zilch about these characters except that Hello Kitty is paired with Ogasawara, and that feels Correct. (Dec 18 to Jan 8)
Illustration Exhibition for SasaMyaa/KagiHira + Yurukyun BL from gene pixiv (Dec 23 to Jan 15)
The stage play is going to stream on U-next! It'll be a lot easier for people to see it now, and I'm hoping that means a DVD release is right around the corner. It deserves it!!
Then it was TIME FOR SOME GAMES. The object was for each of the four main cast members to play each of the three games for 30 seconds each, 90 seconds total, and whoever got the most points in each game in total would win. The games were:
1) Super Ball Scoop (scooping up as many little rubber bouncy balls from a bucket of water using a scoop made of tissue and ergo prone to breaking after just a few scoops) 2) Ring Toss (toss rings onto a stake) 3) Shooting (use a little cork gun to knock over targets) [one extra challenge here is that the targets were all color-coded in the characters' colors and you were only supposed to knock over your own character's targets--except Miyano's blue and Kagi's teal are VERY SIMILAR COLORS so the VAs were whining about not being able to tell them apart XDDD]
All in all, these were the final totals after everyone's attempts: Miyano: 33 points Kagiura: 65 points Sasaki: 83 points Hirano: 64 points
A clear win for Sasaki's VA XDDDD
The next corner was a weird goofy 'fortune telling' corner where Tashiro and Kuresawa's VAs pretended to be fortune tellers for the two couples, except the VAs weren't playing their characters, they were just randomly improving being some kind of couple, idk XD the KagiHira segment went totally off the rails and resulted in Kagi and Hirano's VAs rushing each other on stage into a passionate hug, which you can understand the audience was THRILLED by XD
And last but not least for the event wasā¦an original short story live reading. This was brand new content, performed live in person. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.
The setting was one month post-graduation (so a bit before current canon, but not too much), and it opened with Miyano and Kuresawa waiting for Tashiro to meet up with them. After Tashiro arrives late from helping an old lady carry some heavy bags home, they recall the previous year's cultural festival (aka their second-year festival, Sasaki and Hirano's third-year festival).
Elsewhere, Sasaki and Hirano are hanging out, having run into each other. Hirano asks what Sasaki is up to, he says he's killing time to meet up with Miyano for a date later--what about Hirano? Hirano is, of course, cagey, but says "something along those lines." They too recall the previous year's cultural festival and how Tashiro had spilled juice on some cardboard boxes, sending Miyano running to them looking for spare cardboard boxes they could use.
Hirano had tried getting in contact with Hanzawa to find out where more boxes were, but he was out of reach, which really ticked Hirano off. Miyano "casually" mentioned reading in a BL manga recently that getting a hug from someone was a great stress-reliever, as it triggered a release of endorphins and made you feel much calmer. Hirano thinks this is bunk and goes off to look for Hanzawa himself.
Left alone, Sasaki brings up all the stuff he's been having to do to prep for this festivalā¦and booooyyy has it really heaped a bunch of stress on him, and does Miyano think that a hug might help? It sure would be niceā¦
Just as he's about to laugh it off as a joke, like usual, Miyano grudgingly agrees, if Sasaki really is that stressed.
Back in the present, Miyano recalls this moment himself and squeaks.
Hirano gets a text (from presumably Kagi) and parts ways with Sasaki, telling him "Say hi to Miyano for me." When he meets up with Kagi, Kagi asks if he's been waiting long, and Hirano brushes him off, saying, "Nah, I was just talking to Sasa--er, an old classmate of mine." Good for you, Hirano; you've finally learned to avoid triggering Kagi's jealousy unnecessarily. Gold star!
Hirano mentions remembering that previous cultural festival, and Kagi recalls it too--especially the part where he'd heard that hugging someone could help reduce their stress and had taken his chance with Hirano then. When Hirano had been confused (but not pushing him away) about why Kagi was hugging him, Kagi had explained that it was part of their 10-second-touching time, doing the countdown and everything (bruh idk why but it did something to me finally hearing actual mention of that rule in the characters' voices! Felt like it's closer to being animated, even though it's definitely going to take some timeā¦)
The main thing I took from this short story was: KAGI AND HIRANO STILL AREN'T DATING IN FUCKING OCTOBER??!?!?! FUCK ME.
Aaaand that was about it! I can't attend the evening show, but I'm excited to hear what happens there! Hope you enjoyed this little peek!
