new project! Rufus Sewell, Louis Partridge, Fiona Shaw, Daryl McCormack Join ‘Pride and Prejudice,’ Netflix Releases First Look

Sewell will play Mr. Bennet with Partridge portraying Mr. Wickham and McCormack Mr Bingley in Dolly Alderton's adaptation of the beloved Jane Austen novel.

Production is now underway in the U.K., the streamer said, with Everything I Know About Love producer-writer Dolly Alderton attached. Directed by Heartstopper‘s Euros Lyn, the series will be a “faithful, classic adaptation” of the novel, Netflix added.

The platform also offered up a first look of the Bennet sisters on Tuesday. Sewell (The Diplomat, Scoop) will star as the beloved Mr Bennet with Partridge (Disclaimer, Enola Holmes) playing Mr Darcy’s nemesis, Mr Wickham. Harry Potter star Shaw will play Lady Catherine de Bourg and McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) has been cast as Mr Bingley. link

Dolly Alderton and director Euros Lyn have started production on their adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

First look at Rufus Sewell in The Sandman Season 2. Vol. 1 - July 3 | Vol. 2 - July 24 "Dont blink." Rufus on IG Season 2 will be split into two volumes. The first six episodes drop on July 3, with the final five coming July 24. A special bonus episode titled Death: The High Cost of Living will close out the series on July 31.

Rufus doesn't appear in Vol 1 as far as I noticed....

"The Sandman" ist eine Adaption der gleichnamigen Comicbuchreihe von Neil Gaiman und erzählt die Geschichte von Morpheus, dem König der Träume, der versucht, seine verlorenen Werkzeuge wiederzubeschaffen und Ordnung in sein Königreich zu bringen. 

update 5. Juli (und auch meine Meinung) Es gibt neue Unsterbliche, aber auch nordische Gottheiten, Feen, Engel und einen Teufel, der keiner mehr sein will. Visuell ist es bombastisch aufbereitet, ein echtes Fest für Fantasy-Nerds. Das kann keiner so wie Gaiman. Gleichzeitig wirkt die finale Staffel von "Sandman" überladen, ziellos, der Twilight-meets-The-Cure-Look von Morpheus/Dream mit seinem dahingehauchten Gemurmel irgendwie zu angestrengt. (Außerdem stellt Mason Alexander Park den guten Morpheus eindeutig in den Schatten:)

Was sagen die Kritiker zur zweiten Staffel von The Sandman?

Jack Seale verriss die Serie in seiner Kritik für den Guardian . Ein Auszug aus der Kritik lautete: „Der Sandmann mangelt es nicht an Ideen, doch er erstickt sie alle in einem Nebel der Anmaßung und verpasst jede Chance, die er sich selbst bietet. Die Tatsache, dass Morpheus die Fähigkeit besitzt, auf menschliche Träume zuzugreifen – sie zu formen und wahr werden zu lassen – kommt kaum zur Sprache.“

Auch Nick Hilton vom Independent äußerte sich negativ : „Das Problem von ‚The Sandman‘ ist insbesondere, dass er weder besonders fesselnd noch besonders lustig ist. Komische Elemente (wie Steve Coogan als sprechender Hund Barnabas oder Mark Hamill in seiner Rolle als vulgärer Hausmeister Mervyn Pumpkinhead) kommen zu selten vor. Außerdem gibt es zehn Sekunden von Lenny Henry, der einen der schlechtesten amerikanischen Akzente aller Zeiten im Fernsehen imitiert.“

Diese sechs neuen Folgen basieren auf „Season of Mists“ und „Brief Lives“ – und leider sind diese sehr unterschiedlichen Geschichten durch einen bestimmten Handlungspunkt lose miteinander verbunden, der mitten im Verlauf einfach abdriftet, als wäre er unbeachtet geblieben. Letztendlich dient diese Folge als Charakterstudie für Morpheus, auch bekannt als Dream, der die Handlung größtenteils schlafwandelt. 

Der ursprüngliche Dream, gezeichnet von den Künstlern Kelley Jones und Jill Thompson, ist von einer aufregenden, unkonventionellen Verrücktheit durchdrungen, die auf der Leinwand fehlt. Stattdessen spielt Sturridge die Rolle, als wäre er ein übernatürlicher Mr. Darcy – oder schlimmer noch, Prinz Charles aus The Crown . Es gibt viel zu viel von dem putzenden Aristokraten und bei weitem nicht genug von dem unergründlichen, ewigen Wesen, und Sturridges Zeilen wirken düster, steif und freudlos. Ein unerbittlich düsterer Dream streift durch Räume, die an Vampir-Nachtclubs erinnern, und spricht mit schwerfälliger, geflüsterter Stimme. Das Ganze wirkt manchmal wie eine Parodie von Key & Peele . Ja, er ist der Herr der Träume, aber seine bloße Anwesenheit sollte die Zuschauer nicht einschläfern lassen.

Mason Alexander Park bleibt als Desire eine echte Offenbarung und verleiht Dreams jüngerem Geschwister eine komplexe Komplexität. Sie sind gleichzeitig verführerisch und unheimlich – und glücklicherweise (angesichts der vorhersehbaren Adaption) sollte Desire in der zweiten Hälfte der zweiten Staffel, die „ The Kindly Ones“ und „Overture “ adaptiert, eine größere Rolle spielen .  link

A Knight's Tale has grown in popularity over the years, particularly as it found its way to streaming. It has been available to rent, purchase or stream on several platforms and most recently joined the Paramount+ library. As a result of its seemingly wide appeal, director Brian Helgeland pitched a sequel to the classic comedy to Netflix in April last year. However, Netflix decided not to move forward with the project after testing the sequel concept through its algorithm and determining that it would not be successful enough to justify the production, leaving audiences with only one chapter in the chivalrous knight's tale to watch.
