It was like being ordered around by a chill running down his spine. He gave a blind, swatting wave into the space around him. "Piss off."

"Ha! You sure must be regretting studying resurrections instead of banishments, hm?" the ghostly voice echoed at the edge of his hearing. "I have aaall the time in the world."

It was absolutely killing him that turning off his hearing aids didn't work against ghosts. He opened his eyes, staring blankly up at the by now familiar shape floating above him. The look in the spectral eyes was infuriatingly soft.

"Come on. One little walk. And I won't give you any grief about your meal choices tonight."

"It's still light out," he gritted, too tired to even raise his voice. "And you can't make me."

The shining eyes narrowed. "Not yet I can't, but I'll learn. And I bet I'll be able to start chucking bottles of vitamin D at your head long before I'm strong enough to move your sorry ass."

"I did you a favour, you wanted this. And this is the thanks I get?"

Somehow the chill turned warm for a second while the ghost smiled with his whole face. "Yeah. I'm paying it forward."

He pulled the couch pillow over his head. "Go haunt somewhere else."

"Or, you could leave and go for a-"

"Fine, I'll go for a damn walk."

The ghostly laughter followed him all the way to the door and for a second it felt like the grey sludge gave way—

He paused with his hand on the key in the lock. "...are you coming or what?"

continuing on dreamers being a metaphor for chronic illnesses & disabilities: it’s horrifically fitting that both hennessy and ronan were the ones to find their dreamer parents’ bodies. it’s gruesome, and an excellent metaphor for the generational trauma created by heritable chronic conditions, especially those that weren’t/aren’t properly diagnosed and treated, be it due to stigma, lack of understanding, lack of access, etc.

(i say this as a late-diagnosed and late-treated person with an undiagnosed and untreated father.)

bryde suggests that ronan reach his arm out to hennessy to help her, that he open his own world up in order to learn more about his powers. yes, it will be scary and painful at times (as was matthew learning about his own origin) but ultimately, there’s power in solidarity, in community, and in understanding yourself.

Through force hijinks Mace Windu turned into tooka, through accident and misfortune immediately picked up by Qui-Gon: this cat is important I can sense it.

Obi-Wan: ... (Waiting for the shoe to-)

Qui-Gon: you'll be in charge of his care.

Obi-Wan: I don't think--

Mace: (shared Padawan dorms with Qui-Gon and more willing to put his life in the hands of a teenage Padawan) mrr. 🥺

Obi-Wan: another pathetic lifeform (sigh)

Mace: (batting at braid to reprimand)

Quinlan: I don't think I've ever seen such a disgruntled tooka. He's so grumpy. Look at him! (Holds Mace in undignified manner)

Mace: mrrrrrrwr.

Obi-Wan: he's not grumpy! He just has little patience for foolishness.

Mace: (whaps both Obi-Wan and Quinlan)

Luminara: hmm I see your point.

Obi-Wan: traitor. He's actually very smart and helpful. He's not grumpy.

Quinlan: (takes a holopic) I'll prove it.

And thus grumpy tooka meme was born.

Mace changed back two weeks later with only minor embarrassment to all parties.
