Thinking about being a demigod as a metaphor for neurodivergency
Thinking about demigods fighting monsters no one else can see, thinking about the mist, how mortals just can’t see it. Thinking about Mrs Dodds, and how everyone told Percy he was crazy for remembering her. How ableism and insults are just so typical in places like a high school and yet if you’re neurodivergent and remember it years after school, you’re called crazy and obsessed because “it wasn’t that bad” and “you need to move on”. How Nancy Bobofit called Percy special. How Chiron (a centaur) was the only teacher to be actually nice and understanding of Percy, since he too wasn’t a mortal. How mortals can’t see the monsters and swords, how they can’t see the struggles we face and our defense mechanisms/ways to cope. How demigods just trying to defense themselves against monsters are seen as “evil” or a threat by mortals, because they can’t see than the reason they made that thing explode was to survive, than the bump on their car wasn’t actually made on purpose, but by a monster throwing them against it. How the world is dangerous to demigods, how they always have to stay alert, how there was always something off about them growing up. How they might have known they were demigods since a young age, or if not demigods, they knew something was different about them. Like Annabeth, who kept attracting monsters and decided to run away at just 8. She knew, her father knew, her family knew. There was no point in hiding it, no point in pretending it wasn’t there, everyone could see it. Thinking about Percy, how his mom knew, and how she made sure to help Percy no matter what, how she never cared. Thinking about Leo, who didn’t know until he was a teenager, who figured out on his own, who’s childhood was traumatized by his powers, how being a demigod completely ruined what would have been a lovely childhood. Thinking about Percy’s time in school, thinking about the demigods having adhd and dyslexia, thinking about how “their brains are trained for ancient greek/latin” and how they have trouble understanding what everyone else can easily read. Sure, it’s dyslexia, but it can also be something else. Their brains are not trained for neurotypical social cues, that’s not a language their fluent in, they have their own language, which neurotypicals can’t understand. How if they tell someone they’re a demigod, they won’t believe them, and think they’re weird. How it’s not something they can mention unless around the right people (other demigods, gods, mythological creatures, or parents of demigods kids, which in this scenario, is anyone with a connection to neurodiversity). How the parents sometimes are aware their kid is a demigod (like Sally), because they know the other parent was a god, in this scenario, they’re aware of the possibility of a neurodivergent kid because they slept with a neurodivergent person. Except sometimes they don’t know the other parent is a god, they don’t know their kid is a demigod. How someone can have neurodivergent kids, who’s neurodivergency is passed down from their other parent, except the other parent is not diagnosed. How, even still the neurodiversity community, there’s still stigma and stereotypes. How they treated Nico, even if he was just like them, simply because he didn’t fit. How the more visibly demigod you are, if you’re the child of one of the big three, the more monsters you attract, the more dangerous life becomes, how the moment a demigod realizes they're a demigod, they can't hide it, they attract more monsters, there’s no turning back.
Thinking about being a demigod as a metaphor for neurodivergency

DRDT X DESPAIR DISEASE
what if the danganronpa despair time cast had the motive of despair disease? well, i’ve made diseases for everyone! (i may write a oneshot for this but to be determined..)
╔═════ஓ๑♡๑ஓ═════╗
Teruko Tawaki - Childish Disease. Since her childhood is..probably not the best, considering what information we have about her thus far—it causes her to act childishly and to make up for what had once lost! (And makes her an easier target.)
Xander Matthews - Lazy Disease. This disease is exactly how it sounds. This makes it so that Xander is no longer the energetic and determined person that he is, but rather someone who doesn’t put much effort into things, or sees the reason to care about others too much.
Min Jeung - Confidence Disease. This disease makes it so that Min is completely confident in her abilities and whatever she does. This makes it so that she is much less anti-social towards others, and not afraid to prove anyone wrong.
Arei Nageishi - Cowardice Disease. Because Arei has this disease, she will act meekly due to pretty much everything. Often times another student will see her shaking or on the verge of tears. She can be comforted, but many things can set her off again.
Ace Markey - Truth Disease. This strain of disease makes it so that Ace can only say the truth. While, yes, he can simply change the subject by saying random but true stuff like “It’s cold right now”, but it’s harder to fight the more he does it—and it’s especially hard whenever somebody directs a question towards him.
Levi Fontana - Empathetic Disease. This gives Levi what he’s always been lacking—empathy! And not just any old empathy. His empathy is seriously high, like off the charts.
J Rosales - Villain Disease. While, yes, making it so that J had some ‘murder’ disease would’ve been funny, considering how she hates murder—that would’ve been too easy. And so, we’ve resorted to making her act like a really bad cartoon villain. Why? Comedy. Makes the show go up in ratings.
Rose Lacroix - Forgetfulness Disease. Pretty self explanatory, Rose simply is unable to keep long-term memories. (..Actually, change that to memories in general, as she seems to forget a lot that happened in a short time-span as well. Such as—half an hour.)
Arturo Giles - Kindness Disease. This disease makes it so that Arturo doesn’t see the ugliness in people, but rather the good qualities about them. He’s rather vocal about this too.
Hu Jing - Antagonist Disease. This causes her to act rudely to everyone, as if she is above them, and cause troubles just so that her classmates struggle. She doesn’t seem to have any want to cooperate with everyone like this.
Nico Hakobyan - Aggressive Disease. This makes it so that Nico is more easily aggravated, and will lash out more. He’s becoming Ace-core
Whit Young - Stoic Disease. This disease makes it so that Whit can no longer use the humor and carelessness that he so desperately loves. In fact, he acts the opposite of how he typically does.
Eden Tobisa - Jester Disease. This is different to Charles’ disease. While he makes jokes and acts somewhat childishly, Eden does so somewhat maliciously. Her jokes always seem to hit hard in someone’s core (and definitely not in a pleasant way). Her way of making others laugh seems to be by putting others down. On the outside, she may look the same—but there is a certain evil aura around her.
Charles Cuevas - Jokester Disease. This disease makes it so that Charles can easily find humour in situations. (He uses so many puns it is ridiculous.) It’s almost as if Whit and Charles switched personalities.
Veronika Grebenschikova - Considerate Disease. Veronika will act respectful towards others, always trying to help and never breaking any boundaries. (Think Ibuki’s disease except she actually has a personality.)
David Chiem - Naivety Disease. This disease makes it so that David believes everything that others are saying—or at least makes it easier to. Because of this trust that he’s putting into others, it’s also much easier to get the truth out of him about matters important and unimportant.

Day 1 of @hadesxpercy-events
“Ask me for sanctuary. I’ll protect you.”
Everything was in ruins. After all these years, after all these quests and battles in the name of the gods, they betrayed them. Their children. Their faithful soldiers.
They mercilessly killed all those, who stood up against the god's enemies, who slayed Kronos’ and Gaia’s armies. In the end, Luke had been right.
The younger kids were killed at first; those deaths seemed like accidents. Injuries too severe from the fights against monsters, car crashes, parental abuse… they all seemed - ordinary, for the lack of better word. Normal, for demigods. Then, the Stolls died. People could say anything about them, but they were no idiots. They were taught by Luke, they were battle-hardened and crafty. There was no way a mere boar could defeat them.
Chiron closed off the borders, trusting the gods, who said that there was a great evil working against them - greater than any previous enemy. Dionysus stayed, drinking himself into stupor. But he stayed, even when Zeus called him back to the Olympus. Percy had to admit - in the end, the old drunk was better than any other god.
Annabeth had been staying with her family - Percy was visiting Nico at the Underworld. They didn't hear about the devastation, only after it happened.
Then, the Romans were the next. They had more time to prepare against the gods. Percy was with them; the Huntresses too. Yet, not all gods could be defeated, and in the end, the demigods failed.
They said, the Roman and Greek demigods brought their demise on their heads. They said, it would have always ended like this. It was just the way the world worked.
Not all gods were like that. Triton - not Poseidon. Not that god - had died to protect his, their, baby sister. A baby sister Percy never even knew about, and now, he would have no opportunity to get to know her. Apollo and Artemis were a terrifying duo, but then they disappeared. Nobody knew what happened to them, and their group. They just disappeared.
Hades didn't fight against them either - but he didn't do anything at all. He just closed off the Underworld, not allowing anybody in, nor out. Not Nico, nor Hazel - nobody could leave, no contact was allowed. Percy didn't know what had happened to them.
One would have thought that the demigods, especially with the Roman's strategies and preparedness, could win. But, they didn't count that the other gods outside of the Olympians would join. That they, too, felt threatened by the demigods, they wanted to protect the status quo. With more gods and goddesses - many of whom were once demigods themselves - on one side, and the currently alive demigods and a small handful of gods at their sides, the defeat was unavoidable.
Betrayed by their own kin, they had fallen one by one. Desperation and exhaustion weighted heavily on them, on Percy especially who had been tasked to shield the remaining group, and before he could stop himself, he prayed. Not to anybody - those who could aid him were the ones he was fighting against -, but it was a desperate prayer nonetheless.
“Anyone… anyone who can help me… help…” he sighed. He didn't offer anything, he didn't pray to any of the gods, yet-
From the shadows, a figure emerged, familiar in its danger. He approached Percy with a predatory grace, looking every inch the godliest god Percy had always thought him to be, a smirk playing on his lips.
“Ask me for sanctuary,” Hades’ voice was a silken whisper, dark and seductive, wrapping around Percy like a velvet shroud. “I’ll protect you.”
Trusting a god was always a mistake. Always.
But…
Percy didn't see any other choice. His eyes met with the god's gaze, determination meeting with intensiveness. A shiver ran through his spine, the predator in Hades had always thrilled Percy, ever since the first time he had seen the god. He was afraid of him, but he was attracted to him - a dangerous combination, especially at that time. Trusting a god…
“Why?” He asked, standing tall and proud. If it was only to keep him as a trophy, he'd rather die. His still living brothers and sisters counted on him. He couldn't fail them like he'd failed many.
Hades’ fingers brushed lightly against Percy's cheek, leaving a trail of cold fire in their wake. “Because it's you. Because now you can finally be mine. Because what my siblings are doing is madness.”
“Why didn't you help us?!” he demanded. It would be one thing that the god wanted him - but another that he was against the “cleansing”.
Hades' eyes darkened, his voice hardened. “Don't presume you know everything. If you wish to know, my annoying little nephew and his smarter sister and their group of ducklings accepted the sanctuary. We keep safe those we can. Openly turning against my siblings now would be suicide, but in my domain, I can hold them back. After all, people will always believe in Death. So, come, and you and yours will be safe.”
Percy hesitated. Trusting a god was foolish. But he couldn't help it. He'd always been impulsive; he nodded.
“You must ask for my protection, Perseus. Will you?” A cool finger traced his lips, burning Percy's skin.
“Yes. I'm asking for Hades, the Lord of the Underworld to provide me and my people sanctuary.”
Hades' eyes darkened, a flicker of something possessive appeared in their depths. “Good boy,” he purred, his voice dripping with satisfaction. “You're mine now.”
A shadowy mist swirled around them, and before Percy could assume betrayal, he found himself, and his group of demigod in the familiar halls of the Underworld palace.
“Perseus Jackson,” Hades stepped closer to the young man, tracing a finger down on his spine. “You are bound to me now. In return of keeping you and all of those who need it, safe, I only need you to become mine.”
Percy faced the god, their eyes locking in a heavily charged moment. Ultimately, Hades was a god.
Trusting him might have been a mistake, but-
For now, if the only thing he had to do to save as many demigods as he could, to become the cherished possession of the God of the Underworld, there was nothing he would do more gladly.
And so, Percy did. He surrounded himself to the dark, alluring god, who had offered them safety.

hii happy stbh anniversary almost!!!! I love ur stories sm forever and wanted to cheer for you BUT I also have a question I Hope is interesting: In stbh or in mvf as a whole, what is the worst thing they think they've done (and potentially why), either as a general action or maybe specifically to another person, for potential spoiler-dodging?
thank u bestie !!
the worst thing each one THINKS they've done... oh man
this one will be tvm spoilers soo
Félix: it shifts depending on his mood at the time. sometimes he thinks the worst thing he's ever done is let anyone treat him like a doormat (anyone = literally any person he knows at any given point), you know the whole "i was TOO NICE to them!" schtick from a person who has never been nice at all. but mostly he acknowledges that the worst thing he ever did was sell out Bowman to Helena. He knew it was a mistake as soon as he realised what type of person she was and spent most of his twenties trying to make himself a shield between her and his friends, constantly self-sacrificing until he wore his own goodwill out and the respect of all his friends with it
Bowman: he has actually killed people but he still thinks the worst thing he ever did was not try harder to keep the peace between Félix and Islin. there was nothing he could have done, but he still sometimes thinks that if he'd just said the right thing then none of That (gestures at stbh) would have happened, and the three of them would be living peacefully somewhere, without five years of bad blood between them.
Islin: where to even begin. He thinks the worst thing he ever did was experiment on innocent patients at the knights' bidding - no, wait, the worst thing he ever did was bring captain torben back to life - no, wait, the worst thing he ever did was let félix back into his life - no, the worst thing he did was leave félix in the first place - or was it when he first used evil magic and got arrested - no it was definitely choosing to become a surgeon at all, nothing bad would have happened - no, it was when he forced Félix to deal with faeries to help him survive, just because he wasn't good enough to stand on his own two feet - no, it was when his father died and he was just another drain on his family's resources - actually, the worst thing he ever did was be born in the first place. everyone's lives would have been easier if he hadn't.
Léa: she genuinely thinks that choosing to leave Félix to die that one time was one of the worst things she ever did. She made a cold calculation, knew that with his bad leg he would never outrun their pursuers, and she threw him under the bus. It stuck with her for a long time - whether or not he lived wasn't the point. She didn't like that she had become someone who would make a choice like that with so little internal resistance, or that it had felt so normal for her.
Jean: he invented fantasy nukes and handed them to the worst person he knew, irreversibly altering the course of history, so
Erica: he's done something bad and he knows it. but we'll have to find out later what that was
Macha: has never done anything wrong in their life
and then just for fun the non mvf characters
Nico: if you meet a strange and extremely suspicious guy who claims he can help you with an ongoing case as a key witness, do NOT fuck him
Pascal in 2017: he desecrated a grave and it haunts him. quite literally. the guilty feeling persists

PJO Heroes DemiGods Vs Villains Demigods AU but different-
Percy and Annabeth are a ‘famous’ duo, but they are still focusing on trying to find their niche and balance. Percy never wanted to be a hero so he is struggling to adapt to his position. While Annabeth only wants to make her mother proud of her, but she is still struggling.
Luke is still a Villain, but instead it more like he is working in a Villian company type thing. Like: Kronos is the CEO while Luke is under him but trying to rise to overthrow him.
Jason is a hero ‘that gone bad’. Octavian managed to find out that Thaila is related to Jason and saw her talking to Luke, which was actually her trying to either bring him back to her side or refusing to work with Luke, and ran with the story. So Jason kind of joins Luke’s side because he thinks his sister is there and Luke doesn’t say otherwise.
Leo is a Villain- BECAUSE!! Gaia doesn’t give him a choice and forces him to be her project/minion, he doesn’t want to be and is always trying to get out of doing jobs for her. But he gets into some shady places with gangs and in a lot of trouble and has to work under Luke as Kronos got him out of this ‘trouble’.
Piper is a Villain, mainly because of her father. She wanted his attention, as well as promised safety, so she works under Kronos/Gaia.
Nico and Hazel are Heroes, although Nico is still really angry because of his sister dying from being a Hero before him.
Will is a Villain! HEAR ME OUT- It was a bad decision, but in a moment of weakness and promised safety for his family and lover, he joined Luke and Kronos. He refuses to do any jobs other then healing the innocent that were injured or being the ‘Villain’ DayBringer around his friends and family to keep them safe from actual harm.
Frank is a Hero, I honestly don’t believe he could ever bring himself to harm anyone unless they hurt Hazel or threaten his family and friends.
Reyna is a Hero, who was destroyed when Jason turned ‘evil’.
The lost hero follows Jason, Leo and Piper trying to remember their past and correct their mistakes.
The son of Neptune follows Percy, Hazel and Frank trying to find the missing ‘Villains’ before they cause havoc while Percy tries to get his memories back.
Mark of Athen is Annabeth trying to prove herself as a hero and fighting personally against Luke to defeat him and turn him into a hero.
House of Hades is Annbeth and Percy in Tartarus while Leo, Jason and Piper are left trying to help them out and prove they have changed into Heroes.
Idk what I’m writing tbh- But yeah-

Episode 44
In short, I am unwell 🥴 spoilers below.
First thought while listening: Omfg is this Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles all over again with "the price" of granting a wish resulting into "the wisher has to never stay in the same place and always continue the journey across the worlds"? WHO on the team is a CLAMP fan? I don't want Silas and Cass to be doomed by the narrative :')
But THEN congratulations, TSP team, you made a BIG fan of specifically clones, doubles and shapeshifters reeeeeally uncomfortable with them for the first time ever :D even DW's Flesh episodes failed to freak me out this much - I mean yeah the long neck Japanese horror inspired Jennifer was terrifying but part of me was still very sad for her.
These guys though... my mind is rooting for them because they are trying to do a good thing (by their words, anyway), but I can't trust them? It's just another group of people who are convinced the aim justifies any means, which I believe has already lead them into a bit of a wrong direction at the very least. And I didn't feel much for them before because we don't know enough to compile an image? Ok Finley is extra charming, but that's beside the point. But now I'm terrified of them and the idea of "oh gods, you can't trust anyone now".
This is a very interesting effect. It's not like I've never seen this trope playing out. It still didn't affect me - at most it made me more intrigued, never so unsettled. I was really rooting for the doppelgangers in The Flesh, clones were one of my favourite characters in Tsubasa and Tales of Abyss (and I like the question their nature raised there), I support the Echo's rights but more importantly the Echo's wrongs (despite her/them? being an antagonist) in The Sheridan Tapes, same as Ned's from the same podcast, and a shifter is basically what I'd like to be if I could be anything but a human. Oh, and I LOVE the Stranger in TMA.
But here? Ohhh boy. They are very likable characters on their own, but this demonstration of power was INTENSE. Podcasts have an interesting effect with horror on me: I'm not scared at all or at least not as much as I would of any movie because there are no visuals. But having only an audio as a source also amplifies the emotional effect if the acting is right, I suppose. I think Silas is just a very good choice for a viewpoint character. Any listener who's got to this point has to sympathize with him by now, so the listener feels the impact from his emotions. But there has to be another component, too.
Because the uneasiness is not about WHAT they are or their abilities, but the way they choose to use those. Say, in The Flesh the characters have just found out they are/have doppelgangers, so for one team the drastic measures were a matter of survival while for another it was fear of the unknown, and both teams acted on emotions because they didn't have much time to calm down and process everything properly. Extreme situations make people do things they wouldn't do in their sane mind, so there's no evil there. In ToA the clones were treated basically as expendable slaves or objects and suffered a lot, so while they participated in organized violent action, it was still easy enough to understand and sympathize with them. For Echo from TST it was a question of survival, too, and while I was uneasy at times about what she could do, most of her "crimes" stayed off the screen and we the listeners don't even know much about them. Were there any?.. Anyway, I couldn't bring myself not to have sympathy for her and was VERY pleased with her ending. And so on.
But Nico and the others had a looot of time to prepare for whatever. They don't tell what the danger is, exactly, which doesn't help trusting them at all. They act in cold blood. They attacked the base while getting the info about Alpha - could they just talk to Silas and co?The team could very well listen. Instead a lot of lives were lost, and they went specifically after Silas who wasn't even THAT thrilled with going down the Breaches in the first place and was already having second thoughts about this whole thing. So they seem very "rational" and bold but this, again, doesn't help their case.
So they hurt people who don't actually have to be hurt despite the fact that they have all the time to prepare. They don't care - or it seems so. And, again, they don't tell what exactly the danger of the final world is, so it's hard to judge if their actions are justified.
And the way they lead the demonstration. There wasn't even mocking, I think? Some sarcasm, sure, but it didn't feel like mocking. No one was supposed to laugh. It was a very casual and that's why all the more horrifying show of what they are not only capable of but actually do and will do. J was a low blow, but impersonating Silas to the point of "I become Silas Caldwell"? And Cass as the final and the most painful nail in the coffin? This isn't driving the point home, it's intentionally hurting another person for nothing. And part of why I felt so unsettled is because of how good they are at this. And how they just mercilessly shoved that into Silas' face. Like... The Echo in TST did that too, and it did feel a bit unsettling, but it was very different in every regard.
So doppelgangers/shifters? Great! Merciless other species who plan ahead and really just don't care who they hurt and use their abilities to a full potential? Honestly terrifying.
The remaining team Alpha seems to be in a very unfavorable position between three forces which don't see them as people, only the pawns.
I mean. Maybe Nico and co are going to be not only reluctant allies but actually value the team's lives and sanity. They seem to get along in present timeline, after all. I just don't see the point of psychologically torturing a person who has been complying with every word so far and showed to be nothing but willing to help, not faltering even when being held at the gunpoint. It seems to go overboard for just Nico freaking out because Cass made another deal.
All this is not a critique, by the way. I'm very impressed! It's so interesting!
#syntax podcast#I'm very emotional rn oh wow oh gods#this isn't even analyzing the episode#I'm just rambling trying to sort out why it's last part made such an impact on me#never happened before#very curious#I love doppelgangers and shifters and this whole topic AND Syntax#but never expected them all to have so much in common#like sure add all of my favourite tropes but WITH A TWIST :'DDD#I also love ghosts and “magic is actually technology and gods are people”#this may check out too in the future I believe? :D

Oh Twitter definitely is evil and crucified anyone who isn’t a s*langelo but I restrict my tweets to my 21 mutuals when I want to talk about Jasico! All the good stuffs in the private tweets since I’m a little too shy to share stuff and have people come at me unprompted.
I love love love a good Jason retrieval story like Nico can bring him back but it’s all dependent on Jason realizing and accepting that he’s worth bringing back he can want to keep living and be happy. Like, The Lost Hero opens with “Even before he got electrocuted, Jason was having a rotten day.”
I have one plotted about Nico petitioning his father and the other Olympians to go through a series of tasks to prove his seriousness in bringing Jason back and all of their friends help him in little ways throughout his ordeals so Jason gets to see that everyone misses him and are at least going to put up a fight. (It’s all kicked off by Nico realizing Jason’s kind of miserable in death and asking him if he’d come back given the chance.)
It’s such a good song… like we are truly accessing untapped Jasico potential at this point in the fandom.
(I also have Pat Benatar’s cover of Wuthering Heights in my Jasico playlist because “ooh, it gets dark, it gets lonely on the other side of you / I pine a lot, I find the lot falls through without you” and “too long I roam in the night / I’m coming back to his side to put it right” the entire song but… specifically thinking of ToA era.)
- 💀
AS YOU SHOULD !!! twitter is for the mutuals and the mutuals only.
no because jason for real never catches a break. :(. "Jason realizing and accepting that he’s worth bringing back" IJNFD the idea of him not thinking that he is, is so :(((( as if piper didn’t sob and pleaded for him to be brought back and if apollo himself didn’t pray for the gods to at least carry him to safety. jason </3 i’m taking him to therapy
OH OH THAT SOUNDS SO COOL. all of his friends banding together and showing him that they want him back? ohhhh i will cry. idk if jason is part of the quests or not but if he is and he can’t help in multiple points for a reason or another and at some he’s down about it and his friends are like “jason, we quite literally Dont Care. i/we can do it. you don’t have to do anything, all of this is for you”. actually this works even if he’s not part of the tasks because he’s literally just having to watch them doing shit for him.
OOOOH OH. that song. ok ok ok. i’ll offer my current jasico song which is wish that you were here by florence + the machine bc of that quote from ts*ts (actually multiple quotes from that book but this one in particular) “now, staring at that unnerving bust of diocletian, nico wished for nothing more than to feel jason grace’s protective arms around him. but jason wasn’t here.” !!! there’s so much from that song I’m actually. got i’m going to connect dots
#i never minded being on my own —> that’s so NICO#but then something broke in me and i wanted to go home to be where u are -> wanted to feel Jason’s arms around him#but even closer to you u feel so very far —> just him being in the underworld but jason still not being there. will jason be there?#i can keep going omg

Can I add something to the 'kids' ask you answered earlier?
Why I understand the appeal of 'continuing legacy'or whatever I agree 100% that there should be no pressure on the children, they are just kids and need to find their own way in life, without strangers pushing the helmets on their heads so quickly.
Just look what happened with Mick - he got into the worst team on the grid at the time (sorry Haas) and the expectations were that he will drag that tractor beyond its performance every single time. And he was just a rookie, he had no time to grow and the pressure was just too high.
I won't say that the current drivers were forced to be in F1 by their parents or anyone, it's clear that they love it and it would be ridiculous to say they had no choice. But I think that drivers of F1 usually don't want their kids anywhere that sport (especially if they went through some troubles) - aside from the few who either had a good experience in the sport or had something to prove.
Let's say it like this - we had Nico Rosberg: we all know Keke was beloved in his team and his time in F1 as far as I know was unproblematic and quite epic (F1 was different back then too, less media showy) and it was clear that he wanted his son to have the same experience, there wasn't a pressure but when Nico wanted to drive there was full support.
Then we have Jos, who wanted his last name and his flag in the hall of fame, so when Max expressed interest in karts the plan went in motion and there was no backing down - I think that was the most extreme case but yeah.
With Carlos it was quite tragically funny, we know his dad supports him all the way and even helps with the contracts to make sure his son is okay but we also know he asked him many times to maybe reconsider and go to rally. Some see it as just father wanting his son to follow in his footsteps but I think it's more of 'i was close to F1, Fernando is my friend and is in F1 - the sport is messy and I want to protect my son' kind of situation. Also the "you bite or you get bitten" moment because Carlos was 'too nice' in go-karts lives rent free in my head.
Then we have Sebastian who successfully made sure his kid's life was private and never answered any of the 'is there a racing driver in the making' questions, not putting any pressure on the future of his children, saying that they will choose and he will suport.
We also have Kimi who is supporting his kids in go-karts but I would love to see a journalist come up to him with questions about the future. That would be funny.
Nico, the other Nico and Kevin don't talk about their children in the context of F1 and that's great, let the little ones live.
With Checo I think there is additional layer of knowing how horrible the sport can be and just wanting to shield his kids from the racism and discrimination he went through. I know he said he's trying to get them interested but I love how he always says he will support them no matter what. I still can't understand how people can say he is evil. He's just a guy!
What I wanted to say is - I agree with you, we should not get involved and ask about the kids' future because it has nothing to do with the fans and we should just back off and focus on the sport, not the private lives of the drivers.
Also I guess I wanted to show that the 'continuing legacy' isn't exactly as good as some might think.
Thank you for your ask anon! I must admit it's a big pet peeve of mine when people assume things involving kids, particularly those who have famous parents like singers, actors, sports and such.
It's hard to grow up with a famous parent, imagine if everyone keeps expecting to follow that path; I feel for Mick, he enjoys racing but people pushed him so hard and then were far too cruel when he was still growing into the sport.
Max and Checo have shared their concerns if their kids choose being drivers. It's a ruthless sport and obviously people will have expectations, the kids don't need others planning their future. I mean, fans are already putting Max's kid against Kimi's child, like... what? Why?
With Checo, his kids are far too funny because nothing goes how he wants to. He tried to interest Chequito in F1, but the kid wasn't exactly open to that, so he then tried to interest him in soccer... just for Chequito to be bored with it and now be interested in karting and racing. Checo has said that if Chequito really wants to race, he will support him, but he will have to start really young in Europe. Fortunately Checo has the means to have him with a support network that he didn't have when he moved to Germany at 15.
Still, kids shouldn't be involved in whatever narrative the fans have, there's a reason why Nico, Kevin and Checo are so private with their kids. Just leave kids being kids and stop pushing the agenda of having to surpass the father.
And with Max's kid, boy, people are going wild.

I think ‘She is not perfect’ might be understatement
If Luna wasn’t heartbroken right now she would probably tell him he is being stupid
Luna is like ‘When you say you’re fine but you’re not really fine’
Good to hear that because my driver licence photo (...that I don’t get to use because I couldn’t pass exam) is scary
Ambar is ashamed she was ever friends with Jazmin
I don’t like Jazmin’s performance. It should be only songs
...Is Sharon flirting with Rey?
Jazmin Luna has no idea why you are supposedly so big star she didn’t hear you at all
Oh I saw this in youtube few times but only now I noticed Ramiro looked for a moment at Yam’s direction when he was still sitting
Oh he also looked while going
Simon enjoyed Red Sharks performance till Ramiro got up now he is reaching his hand as if trying to stop him
Also I wonder what people who are not part of conflict think. Like why that guy wasn’t on scene and suddenly is?
Luna got here perfect moment she is probably like ‘It got worse? Again?’
Did Gaston even know Ramiro joined Red Sharks or is that how he found out
Delfi you got unlucky you touched sensitive subject for two people and two are aware of it being sensitive so it’s awkward
Gaston to break awkwardness started subject annoying for Delfi. Though he is us unaware of it being annoying for her as she about previous subject being sensitive for anyone
Seems only boys here are eager to sing that
I agree with Delfi here
Lmao ‘To change from good to evil’. He just sang a song AmbarXD
I know she said ‘talented’ but it’s still kinda funny to me she didn’t specifically said ‘he is good skater’ about Matteo while later saying it about Ramiro
Ambar ‘I see evil in him!’ Emilia’s eyes ‘Sure’
‘I’m gonna have fun with each of them’...I hope Ambar just meant Benicio and Simon here
Bad news Nina they already almost kissed before Open
‘But I don’t think about Gaston’ lmao Luna
Nina ‘...But...That wasn’t my idea?’
‘We already did this’ ...When?
Won’t Pedro and Nico tell Nina about that?
‘As that dictator’ ...wow that’s...Seriously he outright say he has pseudonym ‘as that dictator’ not ‘as that ruler’
Oh Ambar at trying to get Simon to join Red Sharks again
‘That could change quickly’ ‘That’s true’ Simon is so sure Gary would accept him? Okay well I guess he did want him to help with training so
‘I never lie’ Pretty sure I can find contradictions to that statement in previous epsiodes but not gonna do that
‘Are you afraid of me?’ does she mean that like ‘Are you afraid to be close to me?’?
‘What do you want?’ ‘I can’t believe you don’t know limits’ ...what was that implying? It looked like they might have been going for kiss but they already almost kissed previous episode so would he comment that way...Was that about limits of children television
...But if it still exchange when he will still get back before Nina end studies there? Even if she got for exchange herself so it still would be same amount of time apart?
What do you mean you don’t know how long how that exchange work
That break up doesn’t make sense
Good that Gaston is in Oxford not Cambridge cause main thing I remember hearing about Cambridge on trip there is that is very high suicide rate so I would think Gaston is a goner
Nico, Delfi, Simon and Pedro had very shocked expression at first when Matteo said he left rose.
‘Band need something like this, or maybe however exactly him’ rhymed. Also that’s weird sentence
Delfi ‘OH! I got hot news before Jazmin!’
Luna if you want something to be a secret you shouldn’t talk about that in locker room. You should realise that after Jazmin overheard you and Nina lately

it just--- rereading it makes me so much more frustrated w the fandom of this series
so many people ( especially when this got popular on tiktok) ruined like so much enjoyment of this series for themselves but more importantly others bc if the "shipping war" that happened w the libby/nico/gideon love triangle and like i just dont get what they want
spoilers from the atlas complex beloww
we literally get confirmation from nico that he loves libby AND WE ALL KNEW THAT there is clear love between them, it makes sense why people ship them THEY ARE THE EASY OPTION. BUTTT people who still want them to get together are like ignoring the character journey libby went on and like with libby like "self actualized" and evil lowkey THEY ARE IN DIFFERENT PLACES.
i so desperately want to look for ( and its my lil theory) libby using nico as a comfort or way to ignore/manage/justify her murder of atlas. I always found the jealousy of gideon n nicos relationship odd from her ( i.e i dont picture it of first book libby) but the idea that she sees gideon as like a threat to her safe space to the person who she knows knows her better than anyone else and who could prob help her make sense or peace w what she did WOULD MAKE SENSE bc she ALSO literally avoids talking abt it to tristan WHO KNOWS the whole time ( baseddd on my memory at least) but if she were dating nico then..idk
and like i think people who dont see this series as an 6 ( more like 8 or 9) person love story are not reading the same text that i am or maybe looking for the different things in the series than i was like, this whole series has love pouring out of it, they are all so horribly intertwined w each other, so incredibly connected and it was never gonna be enough ( for me anyway) for everyone to end up happy and in a relationship and all of their stories tied in a little bow
it was always gonna end like this -> all of their fates were set when they agreed to join the society -> their fates were set the moment atlas n ezra decided to go against the society and not pick someone for the sacrifice during their year. Everything about this series was going to end tragically they weren't all ever going to be happy.
started reading the atlas six again, and just reading about these characters again and knowing exactly where they all end up is so so jarring. its so like clear i think when reading from the beginning just how large of a transformation they all go through. CALLUM LITERALLY THIS IS ABOUT CALLUM!!! . every single line feels so heavy handed as if there is foreshadowing in every word AND I JUST LOVE OLIVIE BLAKE SEND TWEET
#OHHH THE ATLAS SIX#im back to rant#fandom has soured so much of the like enjoyment online i get out of this series#but i could never not love her yk#the atlas six#the atlas complex#em bitches abt books#olivie blake#THE ATLAS SIX REREAD 2024

A queer Mexican girl’s take on Rick Riordan *if you don’t want to read the entire thing, the important bits are in bold*
I’m not in the habit of engaging with with disrespectful people. If you want to yell/name-call/whatever, do so to your heart’s content. I won’t reply. Otherwise, I’d really love to have a discussion with you!
Edit: the point of this post is not to speak over Muslims/Native Americans, only to point out some things I think we all tend to forget.
I try not to deviate from the main focus of my blog too much, because I want this to be a space for sharing a love of learning, books, etc.
However, there are times when I feel it is necessary to speak up, and this is one of those times, because Rick and his books were, and still are, one of the most important parts of my life. So.
First of all, pjo and hoo have had an enormous impact in my life, in two ways. One was Nico Di Angelo. His coming out scene was the first thing that sat my 10-year-old self down and told me that it was okay to be gay, that it wasn’t abnormal, and perhaps most all, that it was also okay to wrestle with it.
The second was Leo Valdez. The amount of times I had seen a Mexican character portrayed in media, let alone children’s media, were very little. I was young when I read the books, so a lot of the things that people are pointing out right now flew over my head. I was too busy being happy finally seeing myself and my culture in my favorite book series. This brings me to my main point:
The representation Rick gave us was not perfect, but it was still really ahead of its time, and it was still well-intentioned. I don’t even think it was bad! Sure, there are many opportunities for improvement, but the characters are still well-rounded and developed. Keep in mind: this is a straight cis white man, living in a society that, at least when pjo and hoo were written, did not encourage that demographic to venture outside their comfort zone and care for minorities (in fact, you could argue it even discouraged it). He was one of the first white cis straight male authors to have that kind of inclusion in their books. The care that he has for his audience is palpable in the stories, starting with the fact that he wrote for his son w/ ADHD. He has always listened to and engaged with readers, on a level that not many authors do. He is not perfect, but he tries and he cares, which at the end of the day, is what being human is all about. I think people tend to forget this-that we’re all human. The world, people, is much more complex than good and evil. We are all in such a rush to spot other people’s mistakes to signal our own virtue that we are holding people-and ourselves-to impossible standards. Whenever an author writes outside of their own voice, there will undoubtedly be flaws. It will never be perfect (which is why Rick actively encourages us to read own-voices authors!!!!!). By pointing fingers and acting “woker than thou” all the goddamn time, all we’re doing is discouraging authors from having diversity in their books by alienating them! Anyone is going to get exhausted and defensive when people are insulting and yelling at them about how what they do is WRONG and how they’re RACIST and whatnot. Rick is human, Rick cares, and Rick wants to learn and be better-so let’s help him do that, let’s cultivate a culture of compassion and learning. He is not a racist. His mistakes don’t invalidate all the good his work has done.
Finally, on a broader point: if we’re constantly attacking and invalidating anyone who makes mistakes, there will be no one left, including yourself. Point that finger at yourself before pointing it at anyone else.

Okok so the villain taught Nico, Matteo, Anne Wallace, Aariz, and Tala and lets just say he was not a nice teacher but this is before the schools are made so there isn’t really anyone stopping him. He has other students and he manages to convince some of them that he’s correct and that they’re all better than the rest of the magical world, and even almost convinces Anne and Nico to join him. The founders eventually are able to turn him to stone and seal him away before founding the main schools so that people like him can be kept away from children and to prevent that kind of abuse from happening again. His followers are still alive though and keep training new followers to await for his return so they can wage a war on the rest of the magic users and exterminate anyone who doesn’t succumb to them and agree with them. They search for where the founders hid him but never find him.
Now im trying to figure out what brings him back. I’m thinking Hadid figures it out first and goes to find him? But not as a follower, because the reason he wasn’t killed was because the founders couldn’t figure out how to do it, so maybe Hadid figured it out and was going to find him and kill him? But she failed? So Ernestina is still alive in Italy and trying to find out what Hadid knew so she can help, and she does find it out, but its after her journal is written so its only in her house which Macario goes to. But why would he be brought back to life?? Because like i had been thinking about tying Aatos to it, and having it be that by keeping his brother alive he’s also resurrecting the villain, but then all they’d have to do is talk to Aatos about it and he’d think of a way around it. I literally have no fucking clue blease help
Okay sorry to like steal from ever after high but I know Apple releases the Evil Queen from her mirror because the queen kinda baits her into throwing something at the mirror and breaking it open, so maybe a student starts to get visions/whispers from him and freaks out, until a follower (who isn’t out as a follower, maybe another student?) tells them a spell that will destroy the stone statue and kill him, when in reality it releases him?

hoo hogwarts house hcs
I have some very hot takes on who’s in what house
And no I’m not taking constructive criticism
So let’s get into it
Percy: hufflepuff
His fatal flaw is loyalty for christ’s sake
He’s 100% a hufflepuff
And he’s a little mad about it
Cares the most about winning house cup out of any other hufflepuffs
Classic “we can win this if we ban together and work hard! Let’s show them!” speeches
Literally anyone: are you sure you’re not supposed to be in gryffindor?
Percy: fuckin TELL ME ABOUT IT
Can never remember which barrel isn’t the vinegar one
Annabeth: slytherin
Her fatal flaw is thinking she can do everything better
It’s almost like she’s very
Ambitious
And i’m sorry
You think Annabeth “my mom is the goddess of battle strategy” “I survived on the streets by myself as a literal child” Chase isn’t at least a little cunning????
Also a little po’ed that she’s not in the “wise” house
“For gods’ sake, my nickname is wise girl!”
“I know, this whole thing is rigged,” -Percy, probably
Figured out the barrel trick to sneak into the hufflepuff common room to visit percy by smelling the barrels and not touching the ones that smell like vinegar
Jason: gryffindor
Anyone who is/has been a praetor is probably going to be a gryffindor
Real shit
He’s a local superman
The poster child for chivalry
Gets offered the position of head boy/prefect almost immediately
Graciously turns it down
Tries really hard to just fly under the radar and it actually works sometimes
Piper: hufflepuff
This bitch is so loyal
She couldn’t choose between her dad and the friends she made two weeks ago
It would have been so easy for anyone else to be like
Y’all ugly
[sacrifices classmates to free workaholic famous dad from evil kidnappers]
But no
She found a way to save everybody
Also taking down Drew as cabin leader bc she’s a bad leader and becoming a fair cabin head is a very hufflepuff thing to do
Helps give confidence boosts sometimes if someone needs it
Leo: ravenclaw
He has the mind of a mastermind
Fr you think an engineering protoje like that is just not gonna be in the smart house
Huge boost to his self esteem
Literally thinks it’s a mistake
Has a weird bond with Luna as the miscast ravenclaws
Also hello
Wit has entered the chat
No one believes he’s a ravenclaw at first
Then he roasts a teacher so hard and so creatively they take a leave of absence
Immediately accepted
Probably makes a bunch of cool shit for the common room
No one believes him when he says it’s not magic
Hazel: gryffindor
Puts the helping others in gryffindor
Mom friend of the entire house
Also simultaneously baby
Hagrid’s favorite bc she’s so good with magical creatures
Some dick tried to pick on neville in front of her once cause they thought he was an easy target and she verbally annihilated them without a moment’s hesitation
Seconds later she almost cried cause she nearly stepped on a ladybug
It was actually a red mnm
Frank: gryffindor
“Anyone who has been/is a praetor is probably a gryffindor”
Further proof
Immediately gets recruited for the quidditch team
Takes a little practice but ends up as a fucking amazing beater
He already has great aim from archery
And looks very intimidating to people outside his house
Which definitely helps lmao
Nico: ravenclaw
All the shit he’s been through has made him wise beyond his years
Has the least school spirit of literally anyone
Constantly sneaking into Will’s common room
Nothing fazes him ever
Not afraid of anyone there
To the point where some kids are afraid of him
Gets really sick of people assuming he’s a slytherin
“I don’t see it”
Will: slytherin
Ambitious and resourceful
Best healer there
Fixed like three people during a quidditch mishap before madam pomfrey even got there
Great at herbology and potions
Also gets sick of people assuming he’s a hufflepuff
“Cause I’m nice? There’s tons of nice slytherins, what the fuck, man?”
No one even questions him in the ravenclaw common room at this point
Somehow brings out the best in his housemates
Very good influence
Thalia: gryffindor
Does not stop rubbing it in Percy’s face
He’s very salty abt it
Very pro house solidarity
Thinks dividing people into houses is kind of stupid to begin with
Doesn’t realize that’s a very gryffindor thing to say
Practices with Frank a lot
She really just likes beating flying objects with a bat
Who can blame her
Astronomy tower is her favorite place
Tldr:
gryffindor: jason, hazel, frank, thalia
ravenclaw: leo, nico
hufflepuff: percy, piper
slytherin: annabeth, will
#harry potter#percy jackson#heroes of olympus#harry potter percy jackson#hoo hogwarts#idk what the tags for this are lmao#I will defend these till the alleged death

Permission to make this better by reminding you that Nico is canonically the "Ghost King", and if that's not a beautifully fitting name for an obnoxious owner of an ancient artifact then I don't know what is.
Nico's skull ring also has the element of heredity - as it was passed down to him by Bianca, who received it from Hades, and oh isn't that delightful? Does it sound familiar to you - an object kept away securely by members of the supposedly evil family, belonging to the most supreme of all (Ghost King, or just children of Hades in general)?
(Please pretend he never gives it to a boyfriend thank you)
Sounds like that evil weapon a hero needs to destroy before it brings calamity to Earth to me. 🤷♀️
There are also many materials to work with, and therefore many plots and I'm not even kidding (deluding - maybe).
It's almost comically easy to re-enact the PJO - as in, a protagonist destined to either ruin or save the world. How, you ask? Well, if I can just make said protagonist a descendant of Hazel (bc there's no way Nico has a descendant), and maybe Nico's skull rings contain all the sufferings Nico has gone through, condensed into one piece of jewelry (bc let's face it. the ring has watched Nico since the day he went astray after Bianca). It's a reminder that children of Hades never have a good ending - and the protagonist has to bear the burden of it, or go insane and ruin them all.
Or perhaps another scenario? - when Nico dies with the ring and his soul got sucked into it, and now whoever has the ring can call upon his presence, for better or worse is for you to decide. He's a specter, a ghost of ancient times that grants you the immense power of a god, but also comes haunting you every time you step into the darkness. He's lonely, and his loneliness is the black hole crushing you.
We can make this into a sort-of detective thingies, if I'm smart enough - that type of fantasy documentary when you have to solve a case from hundreds, thousands of years ago? This time, it's a lonely boy - powerful yet wronged by the people of his kind - who died without anyone mourning, his ghost is in a ring and his memories are consuming power, so in order to exterminate it, you have to heal his soul - soothe his pains, cure his loneliness, and help him let go.
This can fit so much angst in it and I'm here crying knowing the chances are all lost.
I prefer Nico’s skull ring to be lost into time and then come back 100 years later as an artifact that decides the fortune of the demigod world actually.
#hazel can be that mysterious witch/wizard who is surprisingly insightful ab the villain#who helps the protagonists beat her own brother with a broken heart bc she knows this is the only way to save him#nico di angelo#powerful nico#ghost king nico#prince of the underworld#nico headcanon#yone headcanon#villain nico
