I know that this blog is for dreamcasts, but given that we are in the overlap on the Venn diagram between musicals and the LGBT+ community, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the loss that both communities share today.
Stephen Sondheim, incredibly prolific, revered, and gay composer and lyricist has died at the age of 91.
91 years is a long time to be alive, and he certainly made the most of it, leaving behind an incredible catalogue of work, including the second movie adaption of his first Broadway show, West Side Story, which is due to come out two weeks from today.
He came out as gay at 40, which is over 50 years ago now. I can’t even imagine the courage it must have taken to come out in the 1970s. I think a lot about the debt that we, the up and coming queer community, owe those who came before us. We very much stand on their shoulders. I was only able to come out at 15 because of the bravery and fight of the older queer community, such as Sondheim, who came out at 40.
I ask that you take a moment to mourn with me both as a fan of Broadway and a member of the LGBT+ community. Both communities have lost something incredibly special today, and those of us in the overlap have that going double.
Thank you, Stephen Sondheim, for everything you leave behind and everything you did for us.

Day of the Dead it's a Mexican celebration (November 1st and 2nd), however, this is a friendly reminder that no matter your culture or nationality, you are welcome to join our tradition to celebrate the dead. If you feel like it, take a moment to remember your lost loved ones. You don't have to put up an altar with all the requiremens, just put together their favorite stuff (like food, books, photos, drinks), put some flowers for them or just light a candle on their name. This tradition, from my point of view and experience, it's about taking a day in your year to remember the ones that are no longer with us, and to honor their memory with joy, being thankful for the times we got to share together.

Top 10 reasons I love Percy Jackson in honor of his birthday!!!
Because of him I found amazing friends and a supportive community during a time in my life I really needed it.
He is one of the few who manages to avoid Main Character Syndrome and continues to be funny, down to earth, and genuinely likeable.
He’s literally just such a good guy? He has flaws that make him feel /real/ while still being a kind and empathetic person. He could have drank the gorgon’s blood in SON and recovered all his memories but chose not to because someone else (he had just entered CJ so everyone was a complete stranger to him mind you) might need it more than him?? Like??
Remember in his Greek Gods/Heroes books when he tells his young impressionable audience that no means no and it’s never your fault if someone takes advantage of you? Yeah. We stan.
He drinks so much respecting women juice. So much.
His fatal flaw is that he’s too loyal😭 c’mon man give someone else a chance😪
That one scene where he goes on national television and tells everyone that Gabe’s giving out free appliances from his store. That’s it that’s the whole reason.
He’s a momma’s boy and proud of it!! Also this all makes so much sense when you realize he was raised by Sally Jackson, of course he’s going to be a sweetheart.
He cares about the environment 😌
He’s hot💀 I’m sorry it’s canon and I’m shallow.
