"all girls are bad at math" <- not okay to say, because it is a gross generalization*

"all women are bad at driving" <- not okay to say, because it is a gross generalization*

"all men are trash/evil/abusers" <- somehow okay to say even though it's a gross generalization??? even often applauded???

EDIT: The below comment is what this post is trying to say. I know about the abuse statistics, I know about our society, I know. I'm not saying anything about how none of that is real. I am trying to say how unhelpful and often hurtful the above words can be to anyone.

According to Salt Lake City’s Fox 13, arresting documents describe a child climbing out of a window and running to a neighbor’s home to ask for food and water. The neighbor noticed that the child had duct tape on their wrists and ankles and called the police. Another child was found at the home the first one escaped from, which belongs to Franke’s business partner and therapist Jodi Hildebrandt.

Viewers of “8 Passengers” and investigative vloggers have flagged Franke’s concerning behavior around feeding and withholding food from her children for a long time. In one video, Franke brags about not feeding her kids breakfast until they do their chores, despite them being “literally starving.” In another, Franke explains the reasoning behind not bringing her hungry 6-year-old lunch at school, because it’s actually the kid’s responsibility to pack her own lunch. It’s all deranged.

Why do people that hate kids ever have kids? And why do they have such strong urges to share their evil with others? I guess it’s...ATTENTION and MONEY.

One can’t help but notice the unfortunate pattern of Youtubers or parenting influencers on any platform who’ve compromised their children’s wellbeing. Remember Myka Stauffer, who “rehomed” her adopted child with special needs in 2020? Or the “FamilyofFive” parents, who were convicted of child abuse in 2017 for the elaborate and cruel “pranks” they pulled on their children? The parenting choices these people made are upsetting enough, but their incessant need to capitalize off of them for content at their children’s expense is horrific.

Homicidal Ideation

homicidal ideation is the term for having active thoughts about murdering others. these thoughts can be intrusive, however they can also often be voluntary.

misconceptions:

‘people who have these thoughts either have killed someone or will kill someone in the future’ - this is false. most people who have these thoughts usually have disordered behaviours (most commonly as a result of personality disorders) and struggle to find healthy ways to cope with their emotions, therefore provocation and stress can easily cause thoughts of inflicting harm onto others. this doesn’t inherently mean these people are dangerous, nor does it mean that they’re going to act upon these thoughts. most people who experience homicidal ideation never act on it and use it more as a way to process their distress/frustration internally.

‘having these thoughts about people in your life means you can’t possibly care for them’ - also false. caring for someone doesn’t make them an exception to mental illness and it doesn’t stop your mental illnesses from existing. to think that someone’s love for you is only valid as long as they’re not displaying traits of mental illness is unfair and is hugely misinformed. to love and be loved by someone who is mentally ill is to accept that they will display symptoms of their mental illness. you are not the exception and they do not love you any less by showing traits of being unwell.

‘so you endorse murder’ - no. that’s not at all what this means and if you seriously think this then your grasp of severe mental health issues is too limited to be commenting on such topics.

‘you’re evil’ - for being unwell? don’t be a cunt. if you seriously think that having a disordered manner of processing emotions internally makes someone ‘evil’ then that sounds more like an issue with you being too sensitive and having a lack of understanding, not an issue with the mentally ill person experiencing these thoughts. don’t make your inability to understand mental illness into someone else’s problem.

as someone who does experience homicidal ideation, it’s also important to not make the mistake of assuming everyone who is mentally ill experiences these thoughts either. i had an anonymous ask earlier today that directly associated the fact i’m mentally unwell with murder and homicidal thoughts, to immediately make this assumption just because someone is mentally ill is disgusting.

watching Leverage for the first time and it's funny cuz like

through fandom osmosis, I was aware of The Trio. folks I follow (and Red from OSP) would not shut up about the Trio. Spy, tech guy, the muscle. Polyshipping out the wazoo; very fun, a nice twist on usual fandom shipping dynamics.

I was vaguely aware there was another guy. Older white dude. Sure. Probably the more protagonist-y protagonist, the leader, and kinda generic for it. That's all born out.

Somehow the fandom entirely failed to mention the other woman in the party. Which would make sense; she's kiiiind of a generic femme fatale spy lady. Except for the absolutely hilarious concept where she's a terrible actor unless she's conning someone.

i DETEST seeing "hehe what if sy ~wifebeamed~ qjl or wyz" bc not only has the wifebeam thing gone from a funny fandom in-joke to something just. Taken as textually canon to the point people get mad at you if you point out it isn't. but there's something so gross to me about taking two characters who canonically used and abused shen jiu (and were heavily implied to be sexually abusive to him esp in the case of qjl) and going "oh, if it were SHEN YUAN they'd obviously fall in love and be nice to him! if shen jiu were this other, more lovable guy his abuse would never have happened, skill issue" like. idk. it squicks me out a lot, esp because shen jiu was a child and a slave. qjl was obsessed with shen jiu bc sj was feisty and beautiful, but he didn't see slaves as human and wanted to beat him down. i don't even think he'd be interested in shen yuan. likewise wu yanzi, who noticed sj's natural talents and was implied to be using him/setting up to use him as a cauldron.

So, in PIDW, there was obviously wife plots that could bring back the dead (mushroom body being one of them), and since we know Airplane is a hack that reuses concepts over and over, there’s probably multiple wife plots that could work, so like, where’s the PIDW fics where Liu Qingge somehow comes back to life, memories of Shen Jiu trying to save him intact, and goes to hunt the asshole down so he can repay his life debt, and along the way accidentally clears Shen Jiu’s name of all his crimes and now everyone is convinced Shen Qingqiu is a saint.

I’ve said this before, but I always found stories that frame heaven as “evil” and hell as “good” (or less bad) to be genuinely boring. I like more nuanced approaches to each realm.

I understand that for a lot of people, Christianity is a religion they like to criticize and mock, but I feel like if you don’t even understand the fundamentals of the religion, why even attempt to critique it?

Military dogs, while cool to look at, inherently make me a little sad. Obviously a lot of them live full lives and are happy to work, and a lot of them don’t have bad handlers and owners- they’re still stuck in an expectation of violence and stress that can get them killed, and the tactics used for training many of them sometimes makes me upset. Not gonna just yap about stories I’ve heard though, my own GSD is just a pet I do my best to keep safe, and she hates cops LMAO. She’s a BEAST.

AND, Stone dog will be happy and healthy very soon, don’t worry 💕
