Everybody shut up, Tsuyu is speaking!

I always pay attention when Tsu chips in because everything she says is smart and honest. Love a blunt queen who speaks her mind.

I ended up disagreeing with everything she says here, ha. Breaking rules does not make you the same as a villain, some rules should be broken in order to do the right thing.

At this point, cut them off and boot up the super powered prosthetics. Edward Elric it up.

The comedy in this show takes me tf out sometimes. The letter is so sweet and genuine too, and then it swerves to 'sorry about your balls'.

Iida is in his feelings. He is right that they barely got away with the Stain situation basically 2 seconds ago. These kids never rest.

It is not exactly the same though. Iida went on a personal vendetta quest and got his butt saved. Going on a rescue mission to save Bakugo is different.

I wonder if Momo and Kirishima are confused since they were never told the truth of what happened with Stain right?

Ouch. Seeing his brother become paralyzed has made seeing Deku break his bones over and over so much worse for Iida. To see Deku lose his ability to do hero work the same way his brother did would be crushing.

Ed takes really good care of you. He has been since you both were kids. 

No one would ever mess with you when Ed was around. No one would ever take advantage of you when Ed was around. Because he was always there to swoop in and save you just before things would go wrong. He’d keep you from tripping and falling into some big mess. He’d keep you from believing in some stupid fib that one of the other kids in town had spun just to mess with you. He’d keep you out of trouble. He’d keep you safe. But you barely even knew to what extent.

It wasn’t until he and Al had left town that you realized how much he took care of you. So much had happened in such a short time. Their mother had died. Al had lost his body. While Ed had to give up an arm and a leg and replaced them with automail. Then Rehab. And Rest. And Recovery. And then their house burnt down.

And just like that, they were gone. Like ghost. Like boys who never existed. And suddenly, it’s startling to even you how you found almost everybody around you trustworthy. Even when it was so obvious to everyone else that they just weren’t. What followed an embarrassingly long string of times where you found yourself getting cheated out of your change, pushed around, and all sorts of things despite your best effort not to fall victim to each and every scheme. But it was hard. It was hard without Ed. It was hard without the boy you grew so used to looking over your shoulder at every corner. It was hard having to do the vetting and screening for yourself when you never had to do it before. But that was then. That was when Ed had left town to train. That was when Ed had gone to Central City to become a State Alchemist. That was when he was gone. But now?

He’s home.

“And when we get to Central Station, what are you going to do?”

And he’s taking you with him.

“Hold your hand and stay close,” You parrot the words you recall him saying to you almost a thousand times while growing up. For good measure, you reach for his left hand and close your fingers around it, mimicking what you plan to do when the two of you arrive at your destination. At this, you’re met with a familiar smile, causing you to brighten up yourself. Even after all this time, you still remember. And he’s still worries about you.

You never thought you’d end up here. You never saw yourself getting on a train or traveling outside of your hometown. And yet, here you were. Being pressed into Ed’s side as you look out of the train window, waiting for the train to start moving. Your hand tucked into his hand as his glove-covered fingers absently stroked the back of your hand while he explained how things would work when you two arrived. And two large trunks stored underneath your seat. More than enough things to get you settled. 

More than enough things to help you move into his place in the city. 

It was his idea, of course. You would have never thought to ask to move in with him. Especially not while he was busy with his job as a State Alchemist. But apparently, he grew too weary of hearing all the…not-so-good things that would happen to you in your letter to him. Whatever you must have written must have been his last straw. Because not even days after your letter was set to arrive in his mailbox, you found him at your doorstep with a determined look on his face. Ready to convince your parents that he needed you to be closer to him. For your safety and his own peace of mind.

And he helped you pack your bags, he promised that you would be safe in Central. He had friends and allies there. The military was there and knew of your existence. They knew of your importance to him. And of course, he’d be there too. You would have people to protect you. People to look out for you. And people who were either very intimidated by the Fullmetal Alchemist or indebted to him. Meaning that there were a lot less people there who would be willing to mess with you. But you didn’t need all of that convincing. You didn’t need any of that. You just wanted to go with him.

You just wanted him.

And now, you’re seeing those golden eyes of him slide over and watch over you carefully for the first time in who knows how long. You’re sitting next to him, swinging your legs, holding his hand, and chatting excitedly about what the immediate future holds for the first time in what feels like forever. And he’s responding back in real-time. Not in letters that take forever to make it to your mailbox. But in real time.

“And try not to talk to anyone on Merchant Street. Especially not alone,” He continues to advise you sagely about the problems you could run into in Central. He explained to you that nowhere is safe from all tricks and trouble. And it’s better that you start learning now from him when he can answer all your questions instead of finding out the hard way. “If they come to you first, it’s usually because they’re trying to pull one over on you.”

You think about what he’s saying for a moment, and you find yourself nodding along instantly before the words start to register fully. After a bit, your face starts to sour and your nose scrunches up as you instantly pick up on a caveat it seems even Ed forgot about! But as you turn your head to look at him and share your findings, you find that he’s already looking at you with narrowed eyes, and his lips set in a straight line as his unimpressed look bores into you. 

The look makes you feel a little small. Especially because every time you look at him, you have to remember that you’re just looking at the boy who was born only a little bit before you- you’re looking at a State Alchemist. A boy who’s been traveling all over, researching crazy complicated things, and learning so much about any and everything. Still, what if he didn’t think of what you thought of. You could be helping him out here! And he did say you could ask him all the questions you want, after all. It’s best to be prepared!

“But what if I do want what they’re selling?” You end up asking him, puffing out your chest as you start to feel a little proud of yourself for coming up with this idea on your own. You may not be the best at reading people’s intentions, but you’re sure that there are tons of good people out there, just looking to help! Ed should be reminded of that too! And it’s a shame not to take advantage of a good opportunity. “I heard from Granny that I’m very readable. So they really could know!”

For a second, Ed’s eye twitches. A sure sign that whatever you said was far too trusting, far too naive, and the exact opposite of what Ed has been trying to teach you since the moment the two of you became friends. And somehow, not even your sheepish apology and timid look is enough to save you his wrath. Well, completely anyway.

“That’s cause you are. And that’s not a good thing,” He groans at you, dropping your hand and flicking your nose in a small fit of frustration. You couldn’t hold in your small exclamation of surprise and pain, though you do count yourself lucky that he decided not to use his automail arm. While you know he would never do something to hurt, the two of you did grow up together. So a little roughhousing here and there is still on the cards for you both. Even so… “And just let me handle that stuff.”

Ed takes care of you.

So when he doesn’t elaborate more on why your grand ole idea isn’t exactly the brightest, you don’t push him. When he sighs deeply and makes you promise to him again that you’ll think carefully about whatever you do when he has to leave your side for a bit in the city, you do so earnestly. And when he takes your hand in his again and brings it up to his lips he can kiss it once, twice, three times while murmuring how much he missed you? You just lean in a little closer to him and tell him how you missed him more. 

But you’re happy now. You’re safe now. You’re here with him now. And to you, that’s all that matters. That is all that you need. Just him. Just the boy who always looked out for you. The boy who always took care of you. And judge by the way he had just tucked his arm around your waist to pull you impossibly closer to him as the train started to depart from Resembol and move towards your new life together?

You think there was a part of him that must have needed you too.

I feel like when it comes to my voice headcanons for the Links, it gets a little weird because I literally ALWAYS imagine higher pitched voices for EVERYBODY

It doesn't matter if they'd 100% have a deeper voice, I'll still imagine high pitched voices. Always. I think it may be because I'm female so my actual voice is a bit high (and also I voice the characters under my breath and while I do have a deeper, stronger voice, it'll go high under my breath)

Anyways, my voice headcanons for male characters can get weird. Point and case, every single Link.

Sky has a melodic, almost early Disney Princess sounding voice. I'd say he's a mix between Snow and Aurora (but British)

Warriors is literally just Epic!Athena but British

Legend changes a lot but his is like an Amy Rose who has more nasel in the voice

i dont have like. super specific people to compare all their voices to, they all just sound differently in my head but I hc Sky and Time have the deepest voices, with Sky’s having more of a full, melodic quality to it and Time’s just being very quiet and solid, and Legend and Wind having the highest voices, with Legend’s having a raspy almost hollow (?) sound to it (similar to the english dub for fma edward elric. bot necessarily the PITCH but the sound if it) and Wind just being 13 years old alsdkkkdld

It's kinda different than what you might think. The idea is that something went wrong during the Promised Day in Fullmetal Alchemist, and that just kinda left everybody as, well, souls. (I call them Sols, very, very creative name...)

Anyways, it becomes typical in the Battle Network world for people to sometimes receive a Solmate. Somebody who existed in Amestris (Which exists in the Battle Network world for whatever reason) will connect to a living person, guiding them, hanging out with them, and just being there for them. I actually wrote down the rules when I started this WIP:

-Every human has the potential to have a Solmate. NetNavis are not guaranteed to have one -Solmates can be driven off and not return -Only those with Solmates that can use Alchemy or have extensive knowledge of alchemy can use alchemy itself -Solmates 'manifest,' something between Cross Fusion and a Stand, I don't know how else to describe it -Nobody but the person the Solmate is connected to can see them unless they are manifested entirely -As always, the rules don't apply to Lan Hikari and Megaman

The reason that the rules don't apply to Lan and Megaman is because the rules also don't apply to Edward and Alphonse. Edward is Lan's Solmate, and tries to teach him alchemy, and Alphonse is Megaman's Solmate. Since Alphonse was already a soul, he connected immediately to Megaman when he was still human. Connecting that early is not normal. The Elric brothers can see and hear each other without manifesting, which is good for them, but when they do Manifest, Lan and Megaman don't have any control over their shared body. That is not supposed to happen. Turns out, it's because of Gate knowledge, and the Hikari twins have not paid the price for that knowledge, so the weird manifesting kinda protects them.

Also, Chaud has Mustang and Protoman has Hawkeye. and since Solmates, and their identity, is very personal, neither of them know the other has the other Solmate (if that makes any sense).

3. traveling by train or by plane?

Train, if at all possible. I've been in far too many planes for my taste, and trains tend to be more comfortable. You don't even have to wear a seatbelt! It stays level, it's reasonably safe because it's not like there's tons of chaotic traffic every which-way, and depending on the train, there might even be a dining car! Sleeping in a train isn't much better than trying to sleep in a plane, even if you get a sleeper car, but pretty much everything else is superior other than the travel time.

4. have a scenario: you have to break someone out of prison, and you are allowed a squad of four people. they can be real or fictional. who are you picking?

Hmm...Yelena Belova, Victor Sullivan, Eilonwy, and Edward Elric. Because they all have experience related to getting someone out of prison, and because I think it would be hilarious to see them all interacting XD Eilonwy and Ed would be bickering the whole time, Sully would keep trying to hit on Yelena, and she would be the one reminding them all they have a job to do, while throwing plenty of shade herself.

8. themes and/or character dynamics in media that you are a sucker for?

BROTHERS BROTHERS BROTHERS BROTHERS. But you know this already! Brothers who are also best friends, best friends who are basically brothers, brothers who would die for each other, especially when they say something along the lines of "we're all we've got..." ooof, I'm gone! x.x

I'm also a sucker for father-son relationships, and older brother-younger sister relationships, which for some reason are much rarer to see.

9. favorite ship? doesn’t have to be specific, could just be favorite kind of water/spacecraft.

I have zero opinions about water/spacecraft, sorry.

But for characters, my OTP is and has always been Royai <3

(Okay, just to narrow it down, I'm going to have to go with the classical definition of "song" as one with words. That...doesn't narrow it down terribly well, but whatever.)

Ohhhh, there are so many to pick from, but one that just popped into my head and made me gasp just to think about it is "Kaze no Machi he" from Tsubasa Chronicle. When the music picks up around 2:30 and the other voices join in...chills. Every time.

12. favorite book sequel?

As I said with movie sequels, the best book sequels are the ones that I like even better than the first installment. And there are several of those I can think of, but one that comes to mind is Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones. Everybody talks about Howl's Moving Castle, and rightly so; it's amazing. But my favorite is the second book, not least because it does such a good job of capturing that Middle Eastern, Arabian Nights/Aladdin feel that I so love.

14. describe your current dream house.

I'd want the outside to be blue or brick. Bonus if there's ivy or other vines climbing up. Pretty flowers, maybe some fruit trees, outside. There will be mourning doves roosting in the trees. Preferably a tower room, or at least a window seat. The inside will have interesting colors on the walls, not just white or that drab neutral beige/tan everybody paints new houses these days. There won't be any major issues with plumbing or mold or vermin. I'd have my own room with purple walls, and there would also be a wood-paneled library with floor-to-ceiling bookcases, maybe with those sliding ladders even? Comfy chairs and a chaise lounge for reading, and one bookcase doubles as a door to a secret room - either for the extra-special library, or maybe that's where the video games would be. The other thing I would love would be for the house to not be...regular, exactly. There would be all these steps going up and down and weird little hallways, so you never know quite how far off the ground you are at any given time unless you look out a window. (Basically, if you've ever read a description of Bleak House, I want a modernized version of that.)

20. if you had to pick a country to live in outside of your own, which would it be?

There's a range of countries I feel reasonably confident I could learn to live in without too much trouble if I had enough of a reason to move there. There's all the English-speaking countries, of course, like Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand.... I also feel like I could live in [redacted country I grew up in], Belgium, or Japan. There would be a bigger adjustment, and again I'd want to have, like...a job in place ahead of time before moving there, and the culture shock would probably be more severe, but I think I could do it.

But if I have to pick just one? Canada, where I will be getting a house to live with @rainintheevening - at least until she meets her cowboy in shining armor truck :D

22. favorite ice cream flavor?

Bride's Cake. The only brand I know that has it is Blue Bell, and they don't always have it in the stores, so I always pounce on it when I do see it. It's vanilla ice cream with chunks of white cake, and it all has this angelfood flavoring that elevates it even beyond the various chocolate flavors I like.

23. say you are taking a trip to the zoo, which exhibit do you visit first?

Realistically, I start with whatever's closest. But I always like watching the primates. I don't believe that we're descended from apes, but it's easy to see why some people do, because monkeys look so much like people, a little to the left.

Movie— Deadpool and Wolverine

TV Show— Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Drake Fujimoto fairs pretty well, considering he has alien tech that essentially makes him Generator Rex or Astro Boy.

He'd have a lot of fun on Deadpool and Wolverine, and would jump at the opportunity to let his inner comic book fanboy out.

As for FMAB, he'd have just as much fun there. He would screw around with everybody as he shows off his alien technology. This is one of his favorite anime/manga, and he'd love to interact with some of his favorite characters in fiction.

He'd also love to mess with Edward Elric and blow his mind with everything he knows about aliens, new tech, and the universe.

Oh boy. Let me think. I have a lot of muses who have a lot of regrets in life.

Edward Elric: "Listen, I wouldn't change this for the world, but I dunno. I kinda wish mun could have warned me about mom passin' away. It woulda made some stuff easier. Can't tell ya what, because I haven't really thought it through, but... I dunno. Maybe it'd make dealin' with the loss easier. Kinda stupid, I guess."

Owen Grady: "If she could have warned me about the Indominus getting out, I coulda prepared better for Vic deciding to use inGen as a scapegoat so he could put his program into action and use my Raptor Squad as weapons. That way they wouldn't have died. Woulda been nice to know the Indom was made of Raptor and Rex DNA."

Jimmy Kudo: "I want my mun to warn past me about that stupid moment in Tropical Land. You know, when I got hit over the head by Melkior. If I'd known that was coming, I could have done something about it. Ugh... I don't know how to explain it any better than that!"

Derek: "Saying what I did to offend Odette. It made her and her father leave and Odette's father died for it. And Odette was trapped as a swan for years and years after the fact in Rothbart's captivity. I would do anything to save her from that. I wish that she could tell me what to say so that Odette wouldn't have left."

Kagome: "Not killing Naraku when I had a chance to. A lot of people say that it wasn't my fault and that I tried my hardest, but if I could have fired another arrow quicker... well, maybe I could have killed him and he would have been out of our hair sooner. So I wish mun could have told me about killing Naraku sooner."

Jack: "Guess my only regret would be letting things come so down to the wire. If I coulda helped beat Pitch sooner, then maybe Sandy wouldn't have had to 'die'. He came back, but still. He was gone for a while. Nobody woulda had to suffer so much if I'd been quicker on the draw. If I hadn't been so obsessed with my past. I dunno. Guess I needed my past to beat him, so it was the only way things could have gone down, but it still seems like if I had known more things beforehand from mun, then maybe I coulda gotten it all taken care of sooner."

FMA AU; The Small Difference

I have this FMA AU where Ed saves a town from this whole big conspiracy that involved the town’s local church-- think the whole “Leto” situation except escalated times 100 and with a mini-civil war breaking out across this no-name area that the military has been neglecting. The whole area is kind of barren: food shortages, unreliable water source, crackpot doctors giving incorrect prescriptions, the whole shebang.

Anywhoot, when he’s done Saving Lives he gets up on this stone-pedestal type thing and stands before the crowd of people waiting for answers, and tells them what was happening and things he did/could do to help. Like he has a very basic knowledge of medicine/medical alchemy (he has automail and knows how to do basic maintenance on that, he and his brother had to do some pretty serious research on the human body to do the transmutation, and Ed healed himself after being impaled-- no matter how poorly or enhanced, he still had that basic knowledge.) and changed the acidity of the soil so things could grow better/ grew some of the crops faster, fixed the water filter, etc.

But while he’s giving this speech and telling people what he did and now what they should do, he inadvertently positioned himself so that the statue of their Goddess/messenger of their Goddess is directly behind him, so it looks like he has these huge stone wings. Their Goddess is one of truth and healing, and what has this boy done? He has healed their people from greed and illness and starvation, and he has unveiled the lies that were being fed to them. It helps that their religion has this well-known story of the Sword and his Shield, believed to be two parts of their Godess’ whole: Edward is more abrasive and blunt and honest but also caring and passionate (just like the truth should be); meanwhile, Alphonse is sweet and hopeful and determined (his mere presence can be healing at times). They see Al’s armor and it reminds them of this story: the person made of armor and the person that was completely made of metal/gold aside from his piercing eyes (Fullmetal, anybody?) and how the two were borne from man’s transgressions but the Goddess whispered to them and they became the most human of all. (Sorry for going into a bit of a rant here I am super interested in my made up religion lol)

So it doesn’t change anything. At first.

When Ed is on the run with Greedling they don’t do nothing. Greed does primarily want friends, and he knows Ed has to stay under the radar, but he is still Greed: he still wants power and fuck does he want to thrive after he beats down Father and his so-called siblings. So first they get disguised: Greed just wears his tacky clothes and, when not in their more animal forms, Heinkel and Darius just look like very confused and gruff dads. Ed needs to change: he gets some sort of haircut but Ed is Ed so he gets it in a bob or pixie cut or something super edgy. He disguises his automail by adding unnecessary flourishes to it: snakes or vines with flowers and skulls-- people associate him with the sleekest, newest models, now it looks like his arms are art pieces. Without the cloak and the hair and the different automail, most people don’t recognize him. Greedling’s group ends up saving a few towns and recruiting some more people: Ishvallans from slums, human chimera that are in hiding, hungry children without a home. As much as the entirety of the group try to pretend otherwise, the four and-a-half (does Greed-Ling count as two people??) original members are huge softies. 

And while they’re doing that? The town that Ed saved have been whispering. They see the wanted posters and frown. Because this boy saves lives. Because they’ve been following his misadventures and he’s helped so many people. Word of mouth lets them know that Ed and Al frequently help homeless people, pay off others’ debts, sit down and talk to someone on the knife’s edge, give thieves money and a stern talking to, help rebuild and feed and protect (without alchemy) in the Ishvallan districts. Edward is good, and they won’t believe this bullshit. They don’t believe that Ed is their Goddess, or even that he’s an angel of some sort, but there is this quiet belief that the Goddess crafted the Elric brothers herself, that she made them to save lives and bring goodness. They start rumbles of discontent. Contact people in towns the brothers had saved. It’s a quiet rebellion, but a rebellion none-the-less. People recognize Edward as the Fullmetal Alchemist and turn a blind eye, don’t call the authorities. They protest against more laws and officers than ever before. Something is stirring.

Ed and co. start a smear campaign against military officials they know are in on the whole “immortality” thing. With alchemy, the right lighting, and a camera, there isn’t a lot Ed can’t do. Scandals about officers sighted being at brothels or hitting a child are reported, mostly in gossip magazines, but the talk has started. Ed pays two little thief girls to cry and make say that this officer pushed them or threw their ice-cream money in the sewer or slapped their mother. He starts rumors about Lab Five and greedy old men that would take the lives of a whole country just for power and about a ruthless dictator who only acts innocent.  He encourages haunted ex-soldiers to talk to newspapers about the atrocities they were forced to commit. Anonymous women speak about how often the old men come to “see” them. Ed is thankful that Ling is part of their group because he never could have done this himself. Mustang is thankful because people in positions of power are weakening and he manages to pass a few laws and get a few people fired and get himself lined up for a promotion.

It all builds up when Greed remembers a base of operations full of fake philosopher's stones and chimeras and weapons. In order to take it out, Greedling needs a distraction. Ed, who has been hiding in slums and hanging out with the outcasts of Amestrian society, knows exactly what to do. He makes a monument. It takes a few days to set it up, but then he’s got it. It’s almost in the center of the city he’s in and it is covered in names. Designs of foreign desert plants line the oddly-rounded building. Ed has been speaking to survivor’s for months. He’s asked them if he could do this. It is the names of all the Ishvallan victims he has read and heard about. A statue of the Rockbells fitting a tired man with a new arm, of a now-dead Ishvallan with his arms and mouth open and beseeching eyes, of the real heroes of Ishval are scattered about. There’s a statue of Wrath, pleasant expression on his face and one hand on his sheathed sword and the other holding a leash. Collared to the leash is Kimblee, sadistic elation on his face and one armed stretched, crackling with alchemic energy. In front of him is an Ishvallan priest, face firm and determined, arms linked with Ishvallans that are faceless aside from piercing red eyes. Signs are in front of names and statues, giving estimated death tolls and heroic acts and anti-military sentiment. Of course the place is stormed. But people are already gathered around and inside. Ishvallans link arms just like in the statue around the monument because this is theirs, because they’ve given up so much but to finally see an acknowledgment? To see real stories and real names and the blunt, harsh truth? They won’t give in. They didn’t before and they won’t now. Guns are pointed at them, and the hesitation to shoot isn’t even there. Hate crimes done by the military are a constant, no one will even look twice at this. But then, a woman runs in front of them, eyes hard and mouth thin. She’s Amestrian. “My mother,” she begins, “died for something she didn’t believe in. She died in your dumb war so that my little brother wouldn’t be drafted. I won’t let you kill anyone else. Not again.” And she’s crying, but her arms are spread and she means it.  “Move.” One Amestrian woman could be a scandal, but swept under the rug. The soldiers stand firm. “No.” says one of her friends, standing besides her and linking arms like the Ishvallans behind them. “We let this happen once. We will not let history repeat.” And her friends join. The crowd thins as Amestrians stand in front of Ishvallans, arms linked, a silent but loud promise: You have to go through us to get to them. They use their privilege to protect, this once. They are all scared, terrified, but seeing the names and reading the stories somehow makes it all real: genocide. Not a war, genocide.  One soldier points his gun, finger on the trigger, and Ed decides he’s done hiding. “Instead of killing innocent civilians, why not pick on someone who can fight back? ‘Course, you’ll need a hundred more of you canon fodder to beat me.” He leads them on a wild goose chase throughout the city. He gets hurt, of course he does; they’re going for the kill and, just like with Kimblee, Ed is still going for the mercy blows. People see this. Officers notice. Something, again, stirs.  Greedling gets the stones, recruits the chimeras, and blows that base to kingdom come.  They’ve been destabilizing the military for awhile now, and Wrath has been unable to help in the preparations for the Promised Day because his main job is keeping the military afloat; without the military, the whole plan crumbles.  People rally, calling for officers to be discharged. For Bradley to resign or explain himself. There are riots in the streets and abuse against high ranking military officers by civilians. Ed becomes the face of a revolution. With all this focus on him, Mustang and his team can act a bit more freely, despite being separated. Laws are almost absently passed or remade or taken down entirely. Winry is giving poor people automail those people turn around and help others; they all realize that the military should not have abandoned them, that they have to help each other, and they are all angry and begin planning attacks of their own. Greedling makes several bases of their own, full of “minions” (hungry children and lab experiments and amputees and those with disfigurements. A home for the homeless. A war base and safe place for the oppressed.) and with the focus on Ed, manages to launch attacks of his own. Greed has been alive for centuries, although he has forgotten much of it, and Ling grew up in politics with assassins and war, they fight the government like they were born to do it. 

It’s a civil war; unlike in Liore, it is no longer one sided. The civilians fight their dictator, military officials fight from within the system. 

This is all I have for it, so far. It’s very ramble-y but vgadhbjnfk I refuse to believe that for about 6 months Greedling and co. sat around and goofed off like Ed has a saving people thing and Greed is antsy and wants (to know) things and Ling wants power and he wants it now. Ed is like pure chaos in a five-foot bundle like you can’t tell me he sat around and didn’t even try to do what he could from the outside?? He is a literal genius smh

Also, you might have noticed that I mentioned the Ishvallans a lot and that’s because there needs to be more about and with them. The manga/anime does handle it pretty well but there is so much potential that isn’t used. Also I am a culture-nerd and love learning about different religions and cultures and architecture so I need this ok???

okay everybody, listen up, because I need to talk about Edward Elric. I've started watching fmab and I am losing my mind over this boy. There's so many incredible things about this kid; he's such an incredible protagonist.

the realism of Ed is so painfully wonderful- this is a fifteen year old child. Remember what you were like when you were fifteen? Yeah? Fifteen is so young. This is a child who's had to grow up WAY too fast and has been through so many unspeakable things, but he's still a kid and he actually ACTS like it. He gets irritable over small things and acts "childish" when he's excited and has that touch of arrogance a teen gets when they know they're important.

Ed gets scared. He's not like a lot of your "unshakable" shounen protagonists, who, when faced with something shocking in a fight, eyes only widen and mouth only frowns and they only worry a little and maybe ask for an explanation. No, Ed is a kid and he gets scared. Sometimes he handles fights well, but sometimes he freezes. When Scar found him and Al, when he hurt Al and tore out Ed's arm and pursued relentlessly in the rain, standing over Ed as Ed writhed on the ground, Ed screamed for his brother and froze in his fear and thought he was about to die then.

He's so fifteen in everything- in his anger and his arrogance, in his fear, in his trauma, in his reverence of life. Ed is at the age when your eyes truly start to open to reality and society, though given his past he probably started earlier. But he holds life so preciously, so closely, cradles it in his arms and declares over and over again that it is one thing he will not trample, will not hurt. That fifteen-year-old conviction and the leftover naivety from childhood, paired with the newer discovery of just how sacred, how beautiful and important life is.

He's fifteen in his love. You ever been around teenagers, especially today's teenagers, and you know they do everything fiercely, most things boldly, and Ed screams it in his love. In his protection of Al, his absolute dedication and protection to the one person he has left, can hold close. He's a teenager in their banter but such an eldest sibling in every way- in his drive to protect Al from anything, everything he can, in his leadership, in his fear of losing his sibling.

Ed is such a real person, such a real kid. He's incredibly mortal, unlike a lot of op shounen protagonists. He hits his head and it bleeds. He gets impaled and struggles to stand at all. Every time he's injured we see him recovering in the hospital after. He has nightmares from his fear of failure, about Al and his mother and Nina. He's smart but not indestructible. He's incredibly earnest about his convictions, earnest about the beauty of life, just like a teen.

Edward Elric is probably the most realistic anime teen I've ever seen, and I love him SO much

Kid!Percy has and Edward Elric thing going on where people have heard of No Mercy Percy the terrible tinkerer of Tal'dorei but have no idea what he looks like so people keep mistaking other VM members for him. And everybody involved doesn't like it cause Percy wants recognition and while VM loves him they would absolutely under no circumstance want to be him

Everyone probably thinks that Scanlan or Vax is Percy and it pisses them all off the whole time. Scanlan is honestly kind of offended that people could ever mistake him for the wet kitten that is Kid!Percy.
