the triple burden (housework, childcare AND paid employment) IS a real issue that feminists have been discussing for decades... but the way tiktok tradfem tradwife girlies have twisted that into "it's too much stress for women to take on all the housework AND work full-time, so we should ~nurture our divine femininity~ by quitting our jobs becoming housewives and relying completely on our Strong Men to support us financially!!" rather than "it's too much stress for women to take on all the housework AND work full-time, so maybe men could start pulling their fucking weight around the house more and do the dishes every now and again"

I believe Nanami has always been a gentleman.
Due to the climate that exists, it can be hard to assume the best of people, knowing this, its not impossible to understand that in your time being a classmate of the man, you had previously been led you to figure the opposite of Nanami Kento.
Of course, you simply could not avoid the blatant roll of eyes when Nanami would bend down to retrieve a fallen pencil for his female classmate. Or when he would place an intentional hand on firm objects to protect from the possibility of future harm. And it would be remiss to not add that you had seen the men in your shared classes sigh anytime Nanami would defend a predominantly feminist sentiment in classroom discussions.
By no fault of your own, you had started to believe the masses that would perpetuate the rumor of his โwhite knight" status.
This assumption that Nanami was simply trying to get into a girls pants. By being kind and gentle with them, and by being a patient, learned, listener.
This idea all came to a front one day while you were on the train ride home.
Overfilled and uncomfortable, you had never felt so unsafe on your commute home than you had in that moment.
Call it hyper vigilance, but you had the intuition to locate a problem before it occurred. And even before the man, now plastered to your side, had weaseled his way into your proximity, you could smell the poor intentions from a mile away.
Fear sprung through you as you felt his body press against your own, you had a million thoughts flood your brain.
Should you shout at him? Make a scene? Would he accuse you of overreacting? Or perhaps you should simply try to moveโฆ but where to? You felt so terribly trapped that you couldnโt withhold the gasp that left you at the sudden ripping loss of his unwanted touch.
A commanding voice, unafraid of accusation, rang through the train car.
โWhat the hell do you think youโre doing?!โ
You recognized the tall blond man immediately. He was in your ethics and rhetoric classes, and was notorious for being a real gentleman.
The typical assumption was, that this was for his own personal gain.
And, of course, being nice and being kind are not the same. He, to your knowledge, was being nice, instead of the latter.
Back to the moment at hand though, Nanamiโs grasp never faltered on the perpetrators wrist, in fact, your classmate seemed to tighten his fist.
โI said. What the hell. Do you think. Youโre doing.โ
Real anger resounded from his tone. And every negative emotion from the situation seemed to echo in your brain.
Time passed slowly, all too slowly, and yet, before you could really understand the situation, you had ushered yourself onto your platform after your transport had come to a stop. And somehow, your classmate was staring down at you, asking if you were alright.
โIโm fine.โ You force out.
You shouldnโt have to feel grateful nothing worse happened, you shouldnโt feel glad you werenโt physically harmed.
โIโm sorry. This must have been awfulโฆโ Nanami runs a hand through his hair and in that moment, all of your vitriol forces itself onto him as he finishes, โMay I walk you home?โ
Fury at his character, at this act, at everything that had happened today boiled the words out of your mouth, โOh, for heaven sake, Iโm not going to fuck you.โ
โW-what?โ
To his credit, he looks properly appalled. Stepping a wide margin away from you.
โIโm-Iโm sorry, no.โ He stutters, clears his throat, โthatโs not what I- of course not-โ
And he looks genuine in his fear at the thought.
โRight.โ You sigh, โWell, thanks for all that, but I need to get home.โ
He seems to wage a war within himself, to offer to bring you home, or to leave this be.
After a moment of consideration, he decides on the latter of the options. Solely because he knows now that you must not think of him as a trustworthy or safe individual. And rather than angry at this thought, he is sad. Worried about your past, and determined to be a safe option for you.
โPlease get home safe.โ And later you will wonder how he remembered you when recalling how he spoke out your name before saying, โI really am sorry, about all of this.โ
You had walked home that night jumpy and cold.
โ
It wouldnโt take but a week for you to begin questioning his intentions again after you watch your classmate deliver bagged lunches for the homeless outside of campus when he thought nobody was around.
When you had witnessed his genuine argument with another โone of the brosโ after disagreeing with them in class.
And when you saw him offer to tutor any and all classmates that felt they might need a little help.
And while you were analyzing his motives, he started to develop his understanding of where you were coming from- eventually deciding that his goal would be to prove to you that he never had any ill will, and instead, cares for you as a human. Not for what you could offer him.
You donโt know yet, but he always has been a gentleman.

a concept : abby's first time with a woman. maybe her first partnered orgasm too cause we all know owen ain't shit lol.
i'm so in love with this request. @powderpinkandsweeet did this concept too and it was delicious please go read hers here!!
warnings: owen.. fingering (a! receiving), oral sex (r! receiving), afab / fem reader, body worship because Abby deserves it.
a/n: I wrote Abby to be mostly bisexual in this fic, but you can interpret her feelings for men as possibly comphet or something similar. Either way, it's clear she discovers her preference for women.
Sex means a variety of things to people. In Abby's life, sex with men was mostly about love. She did feel attraction to men and she had relationships with them, last one being her ex-boyfriend Owen. It was never about the pleasure itself. Sure, there were moments when she felt physically nice during sex, but it didn't last. She was only halfway there by the time Owen was coming down from his orgasm. He didn't offer to finish her off, and aftercare was the sound of his breathless laughter accompanied by a "thanks, babe."
Abby didn't ever judge her friends who liked to have sex for less emotional reasons. At least, she didn't think there was much emotion behind it. Abby just knew more about sex within relationships. The fact that men were incapable of actually making her cum was overshadowed by feelings. Things changed when she caught a glimpse of Mel's contact in Owen's phone, though. Things changed for the better.
You were much different than Owen in ways that Abby could not grapple with. First of all, you weren't a man. Abby never really considered women as an option for her (though she had lingering thoughts about what it would be like to be with one), but seeing you at a small party, you being a friend of a friend, she wasn't exactly opposed to the idea of being involved with one.
Conversations led to observations. Whereas Owen was condescendingly sarcastic, you liked to be gentle with Abby. You never said a joke that made Abby feel bad about being a stronger woman; in fact, you told her you liked her physique. You asked about her workout routine, and you made her feel feminine. That was simply something Owen could not do. Owen was also a blind optimist. He turned away from issues in the pursuit of "ignorance is bliss." With you, it felt like you articulated your views in a way that made her question her own, even. You were clearly a thoughtful person, and you took time to educate yourself about human rights, something that should be the bare minimum but clearly Owen lacked education on. Abby could never talk to him about topics like feminist issues like she was able to with you. And lastly, a more physical observation, you made her realize that actually feeling pleasure during sex can make the sex 100 times more emotional.
You took her home with you the night you met. Abby told you about the break-up and how she was still processing it, and you didn't expect anything more from her than what she was comfortable giving. But fuck, the sex made her feel things. How was she ever supposed to feel this way with anyone else?
You had her laid on your bed, and you only kissed her for a little while. Even your kisses were like sugar, and Abby wanted so much more. Every moment of contact your lips made with hers reminded her of an artist's brushstroke onto a canvas, painting over it a masterpiece that simply cannot be undone.
Your fingers traced over her sides, heightening the pants she spills from her lips, and increasing a neediness deep within her that feels like pressure building up in a small space, needing to be let go. She was a little worried that you'd get her all worked up and not make her cum.
You noticed the way she retracted ever so slightly, and cupped her face. "Hey, what's wrong?" You asked so softly, patiently.
Abby swallowed, struggling to articulate her own feelings. She wasn't used to even speaking during sex. It never lasted long enough for her to be able to.
"We can stop if you want to." You offer, giving her a reassuring smile. Your thumb caressed her cheek, and it gave both a red warmth.
"No, it's not that-" she sighed, almost feeling annoyed with herself for making things awkward, "I just got really worked up, I guess. I've never..done this with another woman before, and men are probably different."
You nodded knowingly. "Do you want me to take care of you?"
Abby didn't know exactly what that entailed, but something in her had a pre-established trust for you, just knew that you'd stop if she needed you to. It made her want you even more.
After both of you had enough touchy-feely, Abby helped you pull her shirt and sports bra off. You admired each freckle-plastered inch of her body, from the peak of her nipples to her firm biceps. You took your time with her, and she loved it.
You used your hands first, your soft skin meeting hers. You trailed fingers over her arms, squeezing. Abby let out a soft sigh, and you took that as encouragement to lean in and plant adoration-filled kisses onto the muscle. "You're so pretty." The words were slightly muffled with your mouth on her skin, but she surely heard. It made her pulse beat faster.
You simply touched her for a while, at first warming her up and kissing her skin, mouth becoming steadily more explicit. When your mouth gently latched onto one of Abby's nipples, she couldn't keep herself from making a needy sound. Your tongue swirled over the pink bud, and Abby melted back into the bed.
Not longer after, you weren't surprised to find a pair of soaked panties worn by yours truly. Abby was laid out on your bed, legs parted for you. She was a little embarrassed that you had her so needy before even touching her.
"Fuck," is all she could manage when she felt a warm finger spread her folds open, sliding up to massage her clit.
"You like that, baby?"
"God, yes-" she breathlessly let out, trying not to completely lose it.
The way you touched her was much different from how Owen did. When he (rarely) used his fingers on her, it felt like he was trying to stab her vagina. He couldn't find a clit if it was bright red and glowing. You, however, both teased her and lavished attention on where her body knew it needed it. Your finger teased her hole before slightly stretching it, earning soft sounds from Abby.
You kissed over the firm muscles on her arms as you fucked her, careful to slip another finger into her and give her a good stretch. Abby was incoherent and so messy that her neediness was soaking your knuckles, trickling down your hand. You didn't complain or joke about it, even letting out sweet, approving hums onto her skin.
Your fingers didn't drill in and out of her like a screwdriver, much like Owen's, but rather plunging within her to press into her g-spot and curling upward. You kept your thumb on her clit, making sure she had that extra stimulation.
"Do you like it?" You asked, eyes peering up to meet hazy pair.
Abby eagerly nodded, not trusting herself to speak a sensical sentence. You smiled and carefully shifted to kiss her. This time, it wasn't as soft, rather sloppy but it was exactly what Abby needed. Everything you did made her head spin. You had her tongue between your lips, sucking on it and occasionally letting her invade your mouth and taste the sweetness of whatever was once there. Just the soft little nibbles you gave her bottom lip made her moan, a sound that would've been much louder if not swallowed by your mouth.
Best part was, you knew how to multi-task. The desperation she felt was slowly fed with the steady pace of your hand working on her pussy, and your lips made her feel what she didn't understand before: you made her realize that the physical part of sex, the part that she didn't quite like to explore with men, could be just as important as the romantic aspect.
You found a pace that Abby particularly liked, causing her to whine and tangle her fingers into the sheets.
"Fuck, right here. I'm gonna cum." She pleaded, as if so desperate to get to cum. She wanted it so badly, and it only made you more needy to give it to her.
"Yeah? You wanna cum all over my fingers for me?" You cooed, lips brushing against hers. Your short breath sent warmth onto her lips, and she wanted to always feel it. It sent heat throughout her.
"I wanna cum for you!!" Her moans were louder, but you didn't shush her. You instead leaned down to kiss her, fingers pumping into her pussy, thumb rubbing circles down onto her clit.
She felt the final seconds of chasing her orgasm, hips lifting to meet your hand, and she thanked a higher power that you weren't a man who was giving her sloppy thrusts that would never get her over the edge.
You made her feel like she was on cloud nine. She probably cried out your name a couple dozen times, grasped onto your face to kiss your lips just to feel that connection as you fucked her. She never expected to feel such emotion during an orgasm, never was she able to feel this way during masturbation or with guys. It was all because of you that her pussy was sloppy and leaking onto your sheets, making a mess.
When she came down, you let her catch her breath, soothing her with kisses on her shoulders and allowing your cheek to rest on her chest. You listened to her heartbeat, waiting for it to grow steady.
Abby felt content and safe with you, but something was still nagging her. You made her cum, but she hadn't made an effort to touch you yet. She didn't ever want to make you feel the way that Owen made her feel.
She hesitantly but gently tapped your upper back, and you sat up.
"Are you okay?" You asked with a moderate amount of concern present, wanting to make sure you didn't do anything wrong.
"Of course, but..I wanna touch you. If that's okay."
You nodded. "Have you ever touched a woman before? At all?"
Abby shook her head, cheeks a little red. She was a bit nervous, but her eagerness made up for it. You didn't seem hesitant in letting her touch you, and that made her feel more confident.
"I've honestly always wondered what it'd be like to like, go down on a girl." Abby admitted with a sheepish laugh.
You smiled and began to strip, your tank-top and bra leaving your body first. For the first time, Abby felt truly overwhelmed with seeing someone naked. You looked so soft and touchable, and she found herself wondering how you'd taste, feel, and sound like when she made you feel good. She hoped she could make you feel good.
You laid down next to where she was previously laying, and Abby situated herself in front of you. You parted your thighs, and she sworn she felt herself drooling from the sight of your glistening pussy, begging to be eaten like a savory meal.
Abby found it most comfortable to lay on her stomach, face between your legs. She wanted to make you feel appreciated (and she loved your thighs), so she planted kisses along your thighs, frequently peeking up to make sure you were comfortable. When her mouth was near your pussy, she paused.
"Can you guide me? Sorry, I know it's awkward as hell, but I have no clue how to do this and I want to make it nice for you." She could hear the shakiness in her own voice, making her slightly cringe.
Abby felt one of your hands stroke through her hair, fingers carding through the blonde. "Just do what you think would feel good, you know? You're a woman, so try to imagine it on you. I'll tell you what feels good and what doesn't." Abby let herself imagine it for a moment and nodded, knowing that the best way to learn is to just practice and listen to your moans and what you tell her you don't want.
She gave herself a second to calm her nerves, and gave an experimental lick to your clit. You made a soft sound, encouraging more.
As Abby worked, she knew she wasn't physically skilled at this, at least not yet. However, she was enthusiastic about it. She tried to make up for the lack of experience as best she could. Thankfully, you also tugged her head closer and ground your pussy against her mouth, making it easier for you to feel pleasure while she figured out what worked well for you. You seemed to like when she slipped her tongue into you and worked at your clit with her nose, your moans less steady and increasingly broken as she tasted your gummy walls.
She found that to get you to your orgasm, it took much longer than it took Owen. She enjoyed that more than she'd expected to, savoring being able to just taste you. She craved feeling the way your hips stuttered when she gave your clit a firm lick, or hear you cry out when you finally got close to an orgasm.
Abby initially didn't know whether to speed up or continue, but the rhythm of your hips helped guide her until she finally had you cumming on her tongue. You were pretty with your eyes half-lidded and brows knit tightly together, thighs pressing against her face, it made her want to just take a mental snapshot of this moment and keep it with her forever. She didn't know what she loved more, the process of eating pussy or the aftermath.
When you were stable again, Abby moved to mimic your previous action, letting her ear press against your heartbeat. You had to stifle a giggle at how cute it was, but you were probably too out of breath to even get a steady laugh out. She didn't leave sexual, sloppy kisses onto your tits, but rather gentle, loving pecks.
Abby didn't know when exactly she fell asleep, but she woke up with her chest pressed against your back, cuddling you tightly against her. It was probably early in the morning, and her body was still a bit sore, but she smiled and planted a kiss onto the back of your neck, holding your bare form close to hers as she drifted back into a peaceful sleep.

One user asked me if the reason for the โpush backโ against Robert Eggers intention in his 2024 โNosferatuโ adaptation (especially Ellen Hutter relationship with Count Orlok) is because 1922 Ellen Hutter is meant to be a pure-hearted and virtuous woman, like her book counterpart Mina Harker from โDraculaโ (a model of purity and modesty of the Victorian woman), and I decided to write a post about this.
I think many are missing Eggers intention with this film for several reasons:
1) Going Mainstream
First, this film is being a success at the box office, and while thatโs amazing because I want more films like this getting made, this also means many who arenโt the โtarget audienceโ are seeing it, and completely missing the mark because they arenโt familiar with the Gothic Horror or Gothic Romance genre. Nor with Robert Eggers work.
Not liking this film is completely valid, not every piece of media and art is meant for us. Great, move on.
And thereโs nothing wrong with folks not being familiar with the Gothic genre if they are interested in learning and understanding it. The problem is when people are hellbent in misunderstanding it and stuck on their own narrow views to the point they sound brainwashed, without an ounce of critical thinking and behave like a hivemind: โif many are saying this is probably trueโ type of thinking. And we are in the โsocial media eraโ where everyone thinks their own opinions are valid, so thereโs that too.
Also I would add many are probably used to the โMarvel formulaโ of โover expositionโ: having the entire story spelled out on screen instead of classic storytelling with an actual build-up and narrative devices (foreshadowing, red herrings, Chekhov's Gun, etc.). This causes misunderstanding, as well, because folks used to this type of storytelling wonโt understand what they are seeing because they are used to be fed everything (โexpositionโ) and taking everything literally. This is also a film that requires analysis; this is clearly for the โfilm buffsโ because Eggers wants to become a โcult directorโ too.
Eggers probably knew this was going to happen and he probably doesnโt care either. As Von Franz so interestingly says in the film: โNeque mittatis margaritas vestra ante porcos!โ And ancient Latin saying which means โNor cast your pearls before swine!โ
Directors with strict artistic views (like Eggers) rarely care if the audience understands it or not. โThe VVitchโ was a feminist success when it was released in 2015, apparently now some are saying itโs problematic, because โoh my God, the Devil is a deceiver! Who knew???โ. โThe VVitchโ and this version of โNosferatuโ are also pretty much the same story with a different framing.
2) Lack of Knowledge concerning the story and the time period
Many donโt seem to know that โNosferatuโ and โDraculaโ are the same thing. Count Orlok is Count Dracula.
This story takes places in the Victorian era, and Eggers transports his audience to the time period his films are set in. Which means, we canโt look at this story through contemporary lenses, nor with our current sensibilities because thatโs missing the point of Eggers work.
This movie deals with female sexuality, especially its repression and containment, which was the case in the Victorian era. Women werenโt supposed to be sexual, at all. If women displayed sexuality they were considered โhystericsโ and could be institutionalized by their fathers and husbands (which is what happened to 2024 Ellen, as she tells Von Franz). Really, women could be institutionalized just by talking back to her husbands in this time period. And even within marriage, female sexuality should be modest and restrained, women werenโt suppose to know sexual pleasure, and itโs the husband who took the lead, always.
Men could sleep with whoever they wanted and even go to brothels every night, but this wasnโt the case for โdecent Christian womenโ, at all. Sex for women in the Victorian era was supposed to be a painful task they had to go through to have children. There was even the famous saying โthink of Englandโ when wives were having sex with their husbands (โthink of Englandโ as in โthink of something niceโ other than whatโs happening).
Ellen having astral sex with Orlok and getting pleasure from it was highly scandalous for this time period. Of course this a freaking horror movie and heโs a demon, but if they were actual people, doing this, unmarried, in the Victorian era, this would be a scandal and she would be ruined socially. Which is kind of what happens, and why the whole thing causes her great shame and guilt. It has nothing to do with โabuseโ or โgroomingโ or whatever.
And, I donโt know why many are saying this happened during Ellenโs childhood? Because what she had since childhood are her supernatural abilities, as she tells Von Franz: she knew what her Christmas presents were before opening them and had a premonition of her motherโs death. She wasnโt talking about getting that demonic D, that was during her teenage years as a metaphor for her sexual awakening/puberty. Obviously.
3) Confirmation Bias
While seeing this movie without any previous knowledge (like โNosferatuโ = โDraculaโ; or the historical context where this story takes place) the opposite is also true.
I think this is more true for fans of the previous adaptations of โNosferatuโ. They are misunderstanding the story Eggers is telling in his own adaptation because their perception is shaped by the 1922 film (mostly) and the 1979. And so, they will interpret what they are seeing as a โrehashโ of the previous story (which isnโt the case here, this is an entirely different story).
And so, they see 2024 Ellen as the pure-hearted and virginal 1922 Ellen who selflessly sacrifices herself to save everyone, even though thatโs not the story Eggers is telling and the script contradicts this. Eggers added plots that arenโt a a part of previous adaptations (Orlok and Ellen psychosexual connection; their covenant; occult meaning) and Ellen character being completely different from the 1922 and 1979 films (sheโs a antithesis to them).
And how on earth someone sees these three adaptations (1922, 1979 and 2024) and thinks they are equal and this โsacrificeโ has the same meaning is beyond me, honestly.
4) The โSexy Vampireโ Trope
Last but not least, we have to talk about the โTwilightโ, โVampire Diariesโ, โTrue Bloodโ, etc. generation. Some probably heard โvampireโ and โBill Skarsgรฅrdโ alongside with โobsessionโ and a female character involved, and were probably expecting something like this:
(Thatโs 2024 Count Orlok beneath the prosthetics, when he played another vampire)
Eggers truly catfished his audience into watching this film by not revealing how is his Orlok truly looked like. They did warn us Bill was covered in prosthetics and completely unrecognizable, but that flew over some peopleโs heads?
Personally, I loved the historical and folklore accurate Orlok Eggers created, but, indeed, many didnโt felt the same. Iโm still hearing folks complaining about the freaking mustache when Gary Oldman as Dracula, in โBram Stokerโs Draculaโ (1992) also had one, but yeah, he was hot when he was with Mina (not his usual monstrous self, we also see in that movie) so the problem isnโt the mustache is it?
Of course not, itโs because heโs a freaking rotten corpse and he wonโt make the list of the โsexiest vampires everโ in cinematic history. Because thatโs not what Eggers was going for. We are suppose to see Orlok was handsome in life, but heโs still a walking corpse, because, shocker, thatโs what vampires are.
And Eggers is forcing the audience to confront their own bias with all the necrophilia going on in this film: โyou like vampire love stories? This is what you actually like.โ Many didnโt like to be confronted with that. Which probably has Eggers laughing diabolically because that was his intention, which is why he brings โTwilightโ in his interviews.
And then we have the magnificent love triangle โTwilightโ style, too; Ellen is Bella, Thomas is Jacob and Orlok is freaking Edward Cullen. Someone said Eggers has balls of steel, and he truly does. And itโs actually amazing he didnโt cast Robert Pattinson in Count Orlok role (they already worked together in โThe Lighthouseโ, 2019). But Bill Skarsgรฅrdโs imposing height and previous cinematic experience (Pennywise in โItโ) was probably more in line with what he wanted, and he absolutely nailed this role.
Although we could still see Billโs face as Pennywise in โItโ (beneath all that make-up), which isnโt the case as his Count Orlok, as heโs in full prosthetics.
This also means many will latch on to the โhot guyโ in this demonic love triangle: Thomas, played masterfully by Nicholas Hoult.
Many didnโt see any love story between Ellen and Orlok because they were also expecting a Disney fairytale in a freaking horror film about demons and walking corpses, but I would argue thatโs not Eggers fault nor an execution flaw. Ellen and Orlok are a demonic love story, they arenโt suppose to be rainbows and unicorns. Duh? Although, yeah, if the audience could actually see Bill Skarsgรฅrd, I have no doubt more would recognize this wicked/evil love story going between these two characters.

I'm from a family where women are in charge of most things, finances, the house, bills getting paid on time, important administrative and historical documents and papers, family heirlooms (men are so dumb, they can't be trusted with that stuff!), the children. In my subconscious mind, women work harder. Women go to work everyday and men are just lazy slobs. All men are good for is a (smaller, obviously) supplementary income, having kids with, maybe cooking, and only sometimes emotional companionship. (I am serious - this has been said to me in different ways by multiple family members, from my mom to my great grandmother)
I was told I was so lucky to be born a girl, because I get to join this long line of women. That they were so lucky I was born a girl so they had someone to continue a legacy with. That they could dream of never loving a boy the same way. That they could never let a man continue this legacy, he's too dumb! He'd lose everything. He wouldn't care about the legacy, obviously. He'd just ruin it like all men do. They're so glad I'm around, I'll inherit everything and take great care of it.
I wanted to wear a suit to my father's wedding and they were scared. They heard me going by my gender neutral last name instead of my feminine first name (inherited from my greatx5 grandmother no less) and they hated it. "Don't you want to be a girl?" But I know what they really meant was "don't you want to be what I think you should be?" Then my grandmother talks about how she's scared she won't have anyone to inherit her house, her things, the pieces of history she takes care of (a piece of the Berlin wall, an old German family Bible, my family's passports from the 1800s, a handwoven tapestry, etc... "old country" stuff that every European immigrant family has laying around for some reason. But that's for another post.)
I know why it apparently can't go to me anymore. I've been 'tainted'. My beautiful feminine qualities have been pushed out by my desire to be a handsome untrustworthy kind violent man (they can't even call me that) other . They could handle if I was a lesbian, it was only logical to like other women, and my mother dated women as often as she dated men throughout my life. They could handle if I didn't want kids, in fact, I was told explicitly to not have them in the past (thanks grandma), they can betray you and leave you heartbroken (thanks mom). They couldn't handle me being a man.
There is some kind of inherent quality of being a man that makes you bad. And I was choosing to betray them and myself.
Needless to say, I don't feel very comfortable in trans or feminist spaces.

Prison For Life

Luke Hughes x fem!reader
summary: based on olivia rodrigoโs โprison for lifeโ
notes: not gonna lie, yโall, iโm not too happy with how this one turned out, but i got tired of trying to re-write it, so here it is. as usual, hope you enjoy.
request: I would love a fic to the song prison for life by Olivia Rodrigo for Luke cause this song is so him
[1.7k]
~
Iโm a feminist, obviously
But I wouldnโt really mind him saving me
You had always been the type to handle your own problems. A guy that doesnโt know how to take no for an answer? You knew exactly how to bruise his ego enough to have him tuck his tail and run away. Someone getting too handsy while youโre out with your friends? A swift elbow to the gut will do it every time. Grown man yelling at yourself or your friend over virtually nothing? Ask him why he feels the need to yell at women to compensate for the fact his mother didnโt love him as a child. It was too easy, really.
You never hesitated to run to the defense of your friends anytime they needed, getting a rush out of watching men deflate at your comments.
That is, until you met Luke.
Your relationship with Luke caused you to discover you actually enjoyed having someone rush to your defense, for once.
The first time you felt the unmistakable burn in your stomach at the act of Luke rushing to defend your honor was when the Devils were playing against the Flyers in the stadium series. You were in awe of the sight before you, the Metlife stadium alive with the screams and cheers of nearly 83,000 hockey fans. You were down near the ice in a designated viewing area for friends and family of the players, ready to cheer on your boyfriend in one of the biggest games of his career so far.
You were walking over towards the Devils bench, wanting to wish Luke good luck before the team returned to the locker room after warm-ups, when you heard someone shout out to you.
โCโmon, sweetheart! You can do better than that! Youโd look so much better in orange!โ a man standing near the Flyers benches grabs your attention, your head snapping in the direction of the noise.
โExcuse me?โ You shouted back, disgust showing in your tone and on your face.
โThe jersey, sweetie! You know heโs got about a million other puck bunnies fawning over him, right?โ He calls back, referencing the Hughes jersey youโre wearing for Luke. โMaybe you should come sit with us! Weโll show you what a real hockey team looks like. And if youโre still not convinced after the game, I can think of a few ways to persuade you!โ The heckler continued, elbowing the man next to him in the ribs, winking dramatically at you.
Is this really happening? Is a grown ass man, one who looks old enough to be your father, harassing you right now? Over what teamโs jersey youโre wearing? You had to bite back a laugh, the situation simply comical to you.
You had the words ready to go on your tongue, a split second from putting the man in his place, when you heard a different, much more recognizable shout from the ice behind you.
โWhat did you just say?โ Luke shouts as he skates up next to you.
โLuke, Iโm fine, really itโs okay-โ
โI was just telling the lady here how much better sheโd look in orange! Donโt tell me youโre actually thinking about taking her home? Go pick one of the other hundreds of bitches here wearing your number! We picked this one!โ the man cuts you off, earning a chuckle from his partner in crime.
You look over to Luke, noticing how his features were darkened and he was nearly shaking with rage. You were surprised with yourself when you found his reaction a turn on. Your face turned warm, your insides lighting on fire at the vein popping out of Lukeโs forehead, watching the thoughts form behind his red face.
โYeahโฆthatโs what I thought you said,โ Luke surprised you by speaking calmly. Too shocked by your own thoughts about how much you enjoyed Luke coming to your rescue, you hadnโt noticed that he removed his gloves and was making his way over the wall surrounding the ice until it was a moment too late.
โHey, woah, slow down there, hot shot.โ You grabbed his arm just as both skates hit the ground.
โY/N, let go of me.โ
โNo. Look at me,โ you requested sternly, tugging at his arm.
Luke looked down and met your eyes, his gaze immediately softening. You had an eyebrow cocked, the look on your face silently asking him what in the hell he was doing.
โLuke, first of all, youโre going to ruin your skates, you donโt even have your guards on. Second, what do you think youโre doing? You canโt go over there and engage with those guys, you could get hurt. Youโre getting ready to play a game, you donโt need bruised knuckles or a black eye affecting your skating. Plus, you canโt exactly win a hockey game from jail with assault charges, now can you?โ You ask him, hands on your hips, scolding him like a child.
โY/N, they canโt just get away with saying those things to and about you. Or any woman around here for that matter. Someone needs to go over there and shut their mouths for them.โ Lukeโs fists clench, jaw so tense youโre worried heโll break a tooth. โAnd if I end up in jail, so what? I can post my own bail. Itโs worth it, for you,โ Luke continued, throwing a glare in the direction of the Flyers fans every few seconds.
You stare at him in disbelief. On the one hand, you find it kind of hot he just said he would literally go to jail for you, if it came down to it. The anger radiating through his body a testament to how much he cares for you. On the other hand, youโre appalled at how stupid your boyfriend is. Heโs about to play in one of the biggest games of his career, and heโs trying to throw it all away over a couple of drunk men?
โNo, not so what. If you wouldโve given me five seconds I wouldโve handled it on my own, but instead you came over here and got me all hot and bothered because you decided I needed saving.โ Lukeโs eyebrows shot up at your confession. โEven if you think Iโm worth it, theyโre not. So youโre going to get your lanky ass back on that ice and beat the shit out of Philadelphia so theyโll shut the fuck up.โ
โHot and bothered, huh?โ Luke smirks, ignoring everything else you just said. You rolled your eyes at him. Typical Luke behavior.
โNot the point here,โ you chided him. โThe point is, no one is going to jail tonight and Philadelphia is going to lose this hockey game. Plus, at the end of the night, Iโm going home with you. Not some random ass-hat thatโs old enough to be my dad. No matter how much he wants to waste his breath on how Iโm a jersey chaser for the wrong team.โ
โDamn right you are.โ Luke agrees to your statement about going home with him. โAnd now that I know you like it when I play the macho boyfriend role, I might have to do it more often. I donโt care if you can defend yourself, itโs my job as your boyfriend to run dickheads like that into the ground when they open their mouth at you,โ Lukeโs tone turns dark once again, causing a jolt of electricity to shoot up your spine.
โAlright, I think itโs best you get back on the ice, now, before you go missing from the starting line-up for another reason other than being in the back of a cop car,โ you all but pant.
Even though Luke letโs out a chuckle at your response, you donโt miss the excitement that flashes across his eyes at your words.
โYes maโam,โ he mock salutes you. โHold on, something I gotta do first,โ he mumbles, hand reaching out to wrap around the back of your neck, pulling your face towards his.
His lips meet yours in a searing kiss. Your mouth parts in shock only slightly, but enough for Luke to slip his tongue inside your mouth, meeting your own. For a split second you forget where you are, savoring the taste of him. When you hear the whoops and hollers of his teammates behind him, you come back to your senses and pull back from the kiss, resting your forehead on his.
โAlright, easy there, tiger. Youโre supposed to be working, you know?โ You say, trying to catch your breath, dodging Lukeโs lips as they chase yours.
โI donโt really care. Needed my good luck kiss,โ he tells you, stealing a small peck from your lips, stepping back and over the short wall, putting himself back on the ice.
You look behind him, seeing Jack and Curtis making kissing faces in your direction, never missing an opportunity to poke fun at Luke.
โYeah, with an audience, right?โ You were referencing Jack and Curtis, nodding your head in the direction of the two man-children behind your boyfriend, but as you look up at his face, you notice his gaze was set on the two instigators of the whole situation.
โJust wanted to show them youโre mine. Not some puck bunny they can harass,โ Luke shrugs, looking down at you once again. Your cheeks heat at his words, a smile finding its way on your face as he skates away from the wall, still facing you.
You assume thatโs the end of the conversation, turning to walk away, when you hear Lukeโs voice shout once more.
โQuit harassing my girlfriend, jackass, or your team wonโt be the only thing getting beat tonight!โ Luke belts out, throwing up a middle finger behind him as he skates towards his teammates.
You watch the two Flyers fans laugh, clearly not very threatened by the rookie hockey player. One of them notices your attention on them, placing a hand in the shape of a phone at his ear, mouthing โcall me, babeโ at you. You roll your eyes at the both of them, mimicking your boyfriend and flipping them the bird as you walk back to join Lukeโs parents before the game starts.
Later in the evening you watched the two drunk menโs reactions to the game in front of them. The confidence in their stances lost after Nico scored less than a minute after the match-up started. You continued to watch their reactions throughout the game, the Devils absolutely crushing the Flyers.
The two men storm off halfway into the third period, slinging beer cans and throwing their hats on the ground in frustration. You laugh at their distress, wishing you could go back to two hours ago and throw the win in their faces.
And, when the whole ordeal of Luke running to your defense ends up plastered all over social media the next day? Well, letโs just say you and Luke didnโt make it to any celebratory get-togethers his teammates were hosting.

I watched the movie Strange Darling tonight. Great rating on IMDB. Positive reviews all around. It was sexist propaganda ร la Gone Girl. I'm sure it'll be called a feminist movie.
The story is about a serial killer hunting down his last victim. During the first part of the movie we see a young, skinny, blond woman being chased by the killer, a big man with a rifle. She's in pain and has lost an ear. The man is not hurt and every time he appears on screen, some big scary music plays, telling us "he's the killer!"
Then we see a flashback of their first encounter. They're on a date, drinking in his car, she gives him a lecture about how a one night stand can be a life or death situation for women, so women aren't prudes they are careful, but he can't understand that because he's a man. Unlike in real life, he patiently listens and doesn't object nor scream Not All Men. A little feminist lesson. She then tells him that her "kink" is to be strangled and beaten in bed... okayyyy what was the point of the feminist lesson exactly? He's flabbergasted and reluctantly agrees to indulge her. Because we all know it's women who want to be abused, men are just following our lead and have no sadistic bone in their bodies. She starts crying and tells him to stop during it, she tells him that just because she said yes at the start doesn't mean she can't say no later and he should respect that. He feels bad, and suddenly she starts laughing, she was just messing with him pretending to have boundaries and stuff, what a turn on! She toys with him, keeps inviting him to have sex and then says no at the last second because women are just twisted provocatrice, I guess. What a tease! She's giving him "mixed signals." Then she drugs him and tortures him, and we discover that she's the serial killer, and he's a cop! HA! You thought women were abused by men? You thought her little feminist lessons were sensible? You were wrong! Never trust a woman! Men can be victims, too! The reason we didn't see his injuries at the beginning of the movie was because she tortured him with a knife on his chest. See? Men have hidden scars. Don't assume they are the abusers! Since he's a cop, he has a secret gun and manages to escape her by shooting her ear off. She runs from him, and he chases her, and we're back to the beginning of the movie. He catches her eventually, handcuffs her and calls her a cunt.
She still manages to kill him, right as the police arrives because he called for backup. She puts her pants down and lays on the floor ass naked, crying, pretending that he tried to rape her, and she defended herself. False rape accusations, guys! Don't be fooled by women playing the victims! There are two police officers that arrive: a woman and a man. The woman is immediately sympathetic to the fake rape victim, something her male partner questions. She responds "it's obvious what happened", takes the handcuffs off the killer and helps her get up, while the male cop tells her to wait because things don't look right. Blinded by her female solidarity and her defence of rape victims, the stupid female cop doesn't follow the procedure. She tells the male cop that just because she has a vagina doesn't mean she's wrong, another little feminist lesson rendered voluntarily ridiculous by the fact that we all know she's gravely wrong and will likely get both of them killed. He tells her it has nothing to do with her vagina, he speaks from experience because he's older. Eventually the truth is revealed, the victim is the killer, the male police officer calls the killer a bitch. The killer lets the female officer go because she helped her, and kills the male.
The entire movie had a clear message that we all know too well by now: men are the real victims, don't trust women who report abuse, feminism is laughable. I mean, the propaganda wasn't even subtitle or anything. The killer spends a good portion of the movie in lingerie too. Instant classic. True cinema. Would you be surprised if I told you this movie was directed and written by a man?

Feminism doesnโt need to include climate advocacy and animal rights, but these issues must include feminism.
Feminists need to focus on the material conditions of human females and liberate them as our first priority. Too often I see women with bleeding hearts exhaust themselves by trying to solve every problem on earth. Focus on your own wellbeing and the women around you first, always.
What I mean to say is that humanity cannot solve the climate crisis with the patriarchal system intact.
The patriarchy seizes power not only over women, but of all living things capable of fueling the patriarchy to multiply itself. Some second wave feminists have likened this phenomenon to the rape of the planet, but I choose to not use that language out of respect for women who have suffered rape that isnโt merely metaphorical.
The natural conclusion of patriarchy will be the complete destruction of all life. The planet will buckle under the pressure of sustaining all of the human beings men have chosen to inseminate women with.
At the heart of my feminism is that the meaning of human life is not found in reproduction. We should live in symbiosis with the people, animals, and nature around us. Patriarchy is based on exploitation so these ideals can never be achieved under it.

The thing about "parents' rights" and "protect the children [from hearing that other ways of life than ours are possible and okay]" is that it is literally, in the purest sense of the word, patriarchy.
The word literally means "rule by the fathers". We're generally used to hearing it describe how adult women can be dominated by adult men. However, that's not where patriarchy ends; feminists have been less eager to address how within that system, women can exercise power and domination of their own through the traditional gender roles of motherhood. Their maternal rights to power and dominance may have traditionally been lesser than paternal ones, but they were never less than their minor children's. Even single-mother or female-only families can be, in this sense, patriarchal.
Patriarchal families are a complex system that grants parents complete legal and practical control over nearly every aspect of their children's lives. The patriarchal family controls where the child lives, who takes care of them, what rules they have to follow, how they are educated, who they associate with, what healthcare they receive, what religion they practice, and whether they can work or control any money they earn or that is given to or for them.
Normally discussions of patriarchy are a lot more abstract. But right now it's very concrete and real: we are fighting to limit the family's control over children on issues where we can observe that families sometimes tend to make decisions that are bad for the children's welfare or that disrespect their human rights.
Whether a minor child can get an abortion. Whether they can receive gender-affirming care. Whether it's okay to lie or coerce your child to ensure they follow your religion. Whether they deserve to be educated about factual histories or scientific theories that are necessary to understanding the world around them. Whether they deserve to learn accurate, age-appropriate information about consent, setting boundaries, how their bodies and the bodies of other people work, what a normal range of gender and sexual identities look like, what healthy or unhealthy relationships look like, and what sex is, how it works, what its positives and negatives are, and how they might navigate the world, whether or not they ever want to have it.
Hell, on some levels we're still arguing about whether it's okay to hit your kids, or whether children have the right, similar to the rights adults have, not to be assaulted or abused.
Because there are a LOT of people who say: No. Parents should have 100% control over any or all of those issues. If the parent says no, the child is not allowed to do or have any of those things, and nobody else should be allowed to interfere and provide them to the child without their parents' consent.
Pointing this out often results in parents saying, "Oh, so you want just ANYONE to be able to go up and talk sex with kids? You want kids to be able to decide to jump off cliffs with nobody stopping them???" As though parents are the single protective force in the universe, the only thing standing between their child and the ravages of absolute chaos.
On the contrary: most of the time the argument is for children to receive care and guidance from adults who are monitored to ensure they treat children in safe and appropriate ways, who have spent many years studying the best and most rigorously tested of our collective understanding of how to prepare children for happy, healthy lives.
And we are arguing against people who believe that the only important qualification needed to refuse children that kind of care is to be ranked above them in their family hierarchy.
In conclusion...
Fuck the patriarchy. Children have human rights too.

Poor Things
First of all, Emma Stoneโs performance is as good as everybody is saying. Stone takes a very difficult role that easily could have gone very, very wrong and makes it look like the most effortless thing in the world.
I have been looking at the reviews, good and bad, and I think that the minority of people who didnโt vibe with this movie had slightly skewed expectations.
Poor Things starts out at Tetsuo The Iron Man levels of fucked up, but by the end it has dropped to Edward Scissor hands levels of fucked up. This is probably plenty of weirdness for the average movie-goer, but true connoisseurs of mondo cinema should calibrate their expectations.
Second, apparently this is being talked up as a sort of feminist coming of age fable chronicling an everywomanโs sexual awakening and liberation, and it really isnโt that, and I think if you are hoping for that youโll come away disappointed.
Better, I think, to look at it as an autistic coming of age fable and power fantasy, which I think it does a tremendous job at.
Very minor spoilers under the cut; really, this is more an essay about what I thought the film was about than a review, my review would be that it's somehow simultaneously a feel-good crowd-pleaser AND a movie where an adult woman with the brain of a toddler stabs the eyes out of a corpse with a scalpel and then plays with its penis (I wasn't kidding with the Tetsuo comparison)
Honestly now that I've actually written that out I have maybe underestimated how impressive it is that Yorgos Lanthimos made a movie where that happens on screen but somehow basically everybody loves the movie.
In terms of sex, we do watch Bella discover sex, but she very quickly comes to a conclusion about her relationship with it which never once changes throughout the rest of the movie:
She likes it, she likes it more with an attractive partner, she is utterly lacking in any kind of sexual jealousy, and she doesn't attach too much more to it than that.
This is an odd comparison, but Bella treats sex the way Joey did on Friends. A man acting this way is a sitcom cliche, but a woman acting the same wayโฆ
This is a film that is really, really not interested in the real-world consequences of this kind of sex; in fact, given that a pregnancy is the inciting incident of the film, it came off a little weird to me that the possibility of a pregnancy or STD was never really addressed (unless there was a line or two that I missed while I was in the bathroom).
For the most part, though, I was able to get past it by just thinking of it as a heightened world. The sets and settings are extremely artificial, and ultimately I figured, โHey, if I can buy this kind of thing as harmless and fun in a sitcom, I can buy it in this other kind of heightened reality.
I will say, I don't think Bella is meant to be an every-woman, and that there's textual support for this in the film itself.
All of the women Bella deals with in some way question her approach to sex, making it clear, sometimes through explicit dialog, other times more reading between the lines, that her approach to sex is not for them.
If thereโs any particularly feminist message in the film, itโs that when confronted with Bellaโs bizarre approach to the world, none of the women get angry at her, and most of the men she meets do.
But Bellaโs relationships with other women arenโt really the meat of the film, thatโs more about her relationship with men, and particularly the way that they feel, deep in their bones, that they should have control over any woman that they have sex with.
Duncan Wedderburn, when he first discovers Bella and convinces her to go away with him, thinks he is tricking and seducing a beautiful naif who he can use and then discard when he tires of her. Their relationship disintegrates as it becomes clear that Bella hasnโt been tricked at all; she wanted exactly what he was able to give, a chance to sow her wild oats by having some no strings attached sex with an attractive, likable person in an exciting foreign city.
This makes Wedderburn increasingly unhappy and unhinged (He says at one point that he has become what he hates, a โgrasping succubusโ) much to Bellaโs growing consternation. She has no idea why he canโt simply be happy having sex with her and otherwise letting her do what she wants, and he is so committed to a certain vision of gender roles that he canโt even begin to explain it, he can only lash out in frustration.
And that I think is the meatier part of the film; Bella doesnโt so much flout social expectations as she is simply totally unaware that they exist.ย
Honestly I think the character isnโt so much coded as autistic as she just is autistic. Bella is a woman who is basically totally unaware of social expectations and constantly taken aback to discover that they exist.
More than that, she has to figure out a way to work around the fact that many of the people who become most enraged by her are also so totally lacking in self-reflection, and view their social situation as so normal, so self-evidently obvious that they cannot explain to her why it is she has made them angry. They suddenly fly into rages that clearly perplex Bella and which they themselves donโt even bother to explain, because they regard their own ideas as self-evident.
Bella is an idealized autistic hero; personally as outlandish as she is I donโt really think the film expects us to take the side of anybody else, and I think there are some fairly subtle and accurate bits of autistic behavior on her part.
She responds to life as a kind of social experiment, attempting to parse out a set of logical rules and, especially in the latter parts of the movie, she often justifies her actions with a perfectly sensible internal logic that the emotional men in her life canโt parse out. Late in the film, when she and Wedderburn are destitute, she prostitutes herself for 30 francs, and with implacable logic, explains the two reasons that Wedderburn ought to be quite happy she has done so: First, her john was much worse at sex than Wedderburn, which ought to satisfy his ego, and second, they now have 30 francs and the potential to earn more.
Wedderburn does not appreciate her logical approach.
Another thing that strikes me as very true is that Bella has a very odd theory of mind for other people. Thereโs a scene where, traumatized by the unspeakable poverty and suffering she sees in Alexandria, she puts all of Wedderburnโs money in a box and rushes out to give it to the poor. Unfortunately the ship is leaving, but two port attendants tell her that they will be staying on the island, and would be happy to deliver a package. She tells them that she has a big box filled with money and they should give it to the islandโs poor, and they agree to do so. Now, the film never tells us one way or another whether they keep their word; but Bella herself retains an iron certainty that they did exactly what she asked them to. Now, we know Bella understands what lying and deceit are, because weโve seen her trick people before, like when she chloroforms McCandles to run away with Wedderburn. But it never once occurs to her that these sailors might do something similar. Call it paradoxical, but that kind of thinking is common in autistic people.
Thereโs also the scene where the self-professed cynic Harry Astley shows her the suffering in Alexandria; he admits, when he sees how terribly it has affected her, that he didnโt tell her simply because he thought it was the truth of the world, but that her attitude made him angry, and he wanted to hurt her. A very common part of the autistic coming of age is the slow realization that not everything people tell you is part of a dispassionate, scientific search for the truth.
Thereโs also a scene in a whorehouse in which Bella argues that it would make more sense to have the women decide who is to sleep with the johns, so that then the john could be more confident that the girl was attracted to him, which he must doubt if he chooses. You can tell Iโm autistic because I immediately had the thought, โWell, but the johns would probably be worried that nobody would choose them.โ
One of Bellaโs fellow working girls instead tells her, โSome of them like the fact that we donโt have a choiceโ.

look, here's the thing. you can come online and you can say that you're protecting women. you can say that your vengance against trans people is some kind of feminist move, but that doesn't erase the fact that YOU are next. when trans people are gone and there is no one left to turn on, you will be next.
you come online and say you support the indefinite ban on puberty blockers in the UK, you come online and erase the fact that only 83 gender non-confirming (GNC) people were on them, that more cis people were on them. you start a war against hrt, about minors taking hormonal medication and we'll watch as america starts clamping down on contraceptives. you cry about the 83 GNC people that were on puberty blockers, but you'll later be worrying about the 58% of 16-17 year olds afab that are on some variation of hrt themselves. you come online and cry about hrt, ignoring the fact that the pill is hrt. it just doesn't have the word trans infront of it.
you come online and blow up a trans persons comment sections. you cry about the fact a trans man is wearing makeup or that a trans woman hasn't shaved. you come online and pinpoint all the ways that we aren't doing "enough", and you erase the decades long fight against gender norms. you say a trans woman isn't trying hard enough when she doesn't have a full face on, and you'll watch as YOU start not being enough. you watch as the gender norms we fought against for so long start coming back into play, where women are told they aren't doing enough and those with PCOS or any other hormonal imbalance watch as you ridicule a trans woman for having hair and therefore not being a woman. you'll watch as you, with your hair not done, your makeup not on, and your legs unshaven start becoming a debate about womanhood and what it really means.
you come online and cry about the fact trans people are "mutilating" themselves with top surgery. you say we rush into this surgery with too little thought, and you watch as a 16 year old online gets a rhinoplasty. you watch as an 18 year old gets filler, as people get boob jobs done and that's okay. that's fine. because your issue was never "if you're unhappy with your body, get therapy", you issue was that it was Trans. you say that trans hrt should start at 25 despite it being mostly reversible (bar bottom growth and voice on T) and you'll let people sign up to the army at 18. you'll let people fight for their country before you'll let them have bodily autonomy. you'll say gender-affirming care is disgusting and ignore the fact that every time you get your hair done, your nails done, lip filler, botox, boob jobs, etc etc - THAT is gender affirming. and you'll watch as the media starts dissecting celebrities appearances and questioning what they've had done.
and you won't be protected even if you're an olympian. even if you're successful.
you say you're protecting women when you talk about single-sex spaces and you listen to the government say that we, trans people, are the issue. you listened to Sunak talk about how trans people are nothing but sexual assaulters and ignored the fact that over 50 MPs of his party, the ones that were making these laws to "protect women", had sexual assault allegations. you'll say that people are pretending to be women to get into your spaces, and you ignore the key word - pretending. not trans people. cis. men.
and you'll listen to those men make the laws. the anti-trans laws, btw. none that are woman-centric, no. just anti-trans laws with a "for women" sticker put on top to hide the fact that they've done nothing beyond that to actually protect women.
you say you're "protecting kids" and you ignore as the suicide rates peak, how LGBTQ+ helplines reached record high call numbers the night of the election. you're "protecting families" and ignore the 1 in 4 trans people that experience homelessness in their lifetime, and the 1 in 2 that are domestically abused. you say you're "protecting women" when you talk about bathrooms and you ignore the fact that 1 in 2 trans people are sexually assaulted, and 10% of those that report are then assaulted AGAIN by the officers meant to help them. and then you'll go online and cry about trans officers.
you'll talk about the "them" and the "us", and you ignore the fact that when you start reducing gender down to an ideal woman or an ideal man, YOU lose too.
you ignore the fact that you are just as at risk, and you will be next. and it's already happening.
and i think the difference is, the really big key difference, is that trans people are going to have your back regardless. trans people will fight alongside you just like they did at stonewall, GNC people will fight alongside you just like they did during the suffragette movement, a movement that fought against the same ideals you are perpetuating all over again.
trans people are going to have your back because whilst you focus on the "trans" part, we focus on the "people". because that's what we are. people.
and i think you're a piece of shit if you use women's rights as a guise for your transphobia whilst perpetuating ideals that have harmed you, are currently harming you, and will continue to harm you, unless you realise the only "them" versus "us" you need to worry about is everyone versus the government.
#im going insane im sorry#absolutely insane#the woke left and its just me going uhhh guys !!! maybe we could... ALLLLL have rights????#maybe... maybe we could... crazy idea! ALL be protected#ignore me#robyn's trans talks
