hi kay tell me about jerrykramer if you want? it's been too long since i watched seinfeld
oh boy... where to start...
maybe it's best to come in hot with a tinhat theory? imo, jerrykramer was never written as a romantic ship or intended to end up as one. if anything, i can see the writers (and jerry...) more go the route of your classic 80s buddy comedy that has maybe some tropey romantic undertones to it if you care to look (like, say "midnight run").
BUT i think that michael (richards) and jerry (seinfeld. lol.) had such an amazing chemistry that it also kind of wrote itself and a lot of the "acting" choices on jerry's part (who has also stated again and again that he is not an actor and can only react genuinely to the people opposite to him - which is also why he cast the show the way it was cast - because he felt comfortable around those people and knew he didn't have to stretch himself beyond his abilities) were just actor bleed (the fkn heart eyes, man...). with michael, you can see it especially in later seasons when he's allowed himself to relax a little.
And, of course, most importantly, it WORKED. jerry's #1 priority has always been to make it funny. in his own words: he lives in a world of funny (and he has also said he doesn't see race or gender which still drives me insane to think about. funnysexual).
But there were also very conscious writing choices for jerry and kramer which has me believing that the writers (and jerry. who was "micro managing every aspect of the show") knew exactly how you could look at their relationship if you wanted to. plus, the show has always been very queer friendly (hell, there is a whole episode dedicated to gay okay. and jerry has been very vocally pro queer - especially on comedians in cars getting coffee *cough* - most noticeably in the episode with howard stern where he literally said: "i like gay." after HS asked him "why is everything gay with you?").
This is just my reading and probably also projecting but none of the characters read particularly straight to me. kramer is so special, he most of all is so above labels and societal norms - that's his whole thing (in Seinfeld!Jerry's words: he is a pod).
And as the show progresses and the characters, the writers and the audience all become more comfortable and accustomed with/to each other, jerry and kramer become increasingly domestic.
I have made a whole post about the tropes applied to them (I even think I forgot a couple) but the ones I love the most are: jerry being wife-coded in the episode "The Bizarro Jerry" // jerry being girlfriend coded in "The Apology" // meetcute trope also in "The Apology" // jerry being such a germaphobe but somehow always being okay with whatever unsanitary thing kramer is up to at any given moment // bed sharing in "The Wig Master" // a literal kiss (that wasn't played off as a joke) in "The Kiss Hello" // jerry taking kramer as his date to award shows & once on a holiday to tuscany despite being a notorious and chronic dater // the others noticing/commenting on their relationship-y behaviour (george's reaction to the kiss & his reaction to finding them in the shower together. elaine and jerry talking about settling down and saying "it's just gonna be you and kramer" "just me and kramer, huh?" & elaine commenting on their relationship trouble whenever one of them is sulking) // their co-dependency (it's being commented on in tiny moments throughout the show how much kramer needs jerry's friendship/love and kramer comments a few times how empty jerry's life would be without him)...
oh, i guess all of them are important to me haha. and they all come so easy to them. but here's the post i wrote a year ago on that. feel free to browse through my jerrykramer tag (or jerrymichael *cough*) or this blog to ogle at them.
I will leave you with this homosexual promo pic outtake, thanks for coming to my TED talk <3

Puppetry Lost Media
Tumblr media
In honour of reaching 50 followers last week (now 55 followers, as of writing this) I decided to cover two subjects of great interest to me: puppetry (of course) and lost media.
Everybody online loves a good old bit of lost media. Whether it be being a part of the many searches for the media in question, or watching documentaries about them on sites like YouTube. I’ve been mildly addicted to the latter kind of content for a while. From what I’ve seen, though, there aren’t many videos or articles out there specifically covering lost puppetry. So, in no particular order, here are a couple of pieces of lost puppetry I found while scrolling through the lost media wiki.
銀河少年隊 - Ginga shounen-tai AKA Galaxy Boy Troop (1963 - 1965)
Tumblr media
Osamu Tezuka is one of the most pioneering figures in Japanese art and animation. Starting as a manga artist in the 1940s inspired by the animated works of American studios such as Walt Disney and the Fliecer Brothers, he adapted and simplified many of the stylistic techniques of both artists to create his own signature style of big shiny eyes, physics defying hair and limited animation. A style that would go on to heavily influence the world of anime and manga as a whole.
But animation and graphic art were not the only mediums Tezuka would dabble in. Ginga Shounen-Tai, or Galaxy Boy Troop in english, was a television series that aired on the public broadcast channel NHK from April 7th, 1963 to April 1st, 1965. Running for 2 seasons with a total of 92 episodes.
The series was a mixture of marionette characters that utilised the Supermarionation marionette technique, popularised by Jerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds, and limited traditional animation. The story revolves around a child genius named Roy who leads a rag-tag group of heros around the galaxy in a rocket ship in order to revive the earth’s sun and later protect it from alien invaders.
Tumblr media
Out of the 92 episodes that aired, only episode 67 still exists in its entirety with French subtitles, and the full episode can be found on YouTube with English subtitles uploaded by user Rare TezukaVids. According to user F-Man on the Tezuka in English forums, footage of episode 28 exists but with no audio, and episode 87’s animated segments exist without the marionette segments. F-Man also claims the reason for Galaxy Boy Troop’s disappearance is due to Tezuka not being proud of the series and having all episodes of it destroyed.
Personally, I think it’s a shame that pretty much all of this series is gone. From what I’ve seen in episode 67, it looks really charming. Tezuka’s signature character design style was adapted suprisingly well to marionettes, and the puppetry itself isn’t that bad either. I love the little face mechanisms like the blinking eyes, flapping mouths and others. It gives the puppets a lot of personality and charm. Like, just look at this old mans eyebrow mechanism and tell me you wouldn’t want to watch 92 episodes of this show;
Tumblr media
Tinseltown (2007)
Tumblr media
Tinseltown was a 15 minute sitcom pilot created by the Jim Henson company under thier Henson Alternative banner. The pilot was commissioned by the Logo Network and aired as part of the Alien Boot Camp programming block in 2007.
The pilot (and likely the series, had it been picked up by the logo network) features a cast of both puppets and live actors as characters. The premise revolves around Samson Kight, an anthropomorphic bull preformed by Brian Henson and drew Massey, and his partner Bobby Vegan, an anthropomorphic pig prefomed by Bill Barretta and Michelan Sisti, as they attempt to balance thier lives working in Hollywood with life as parents to thier sullen 12-year-old foster son, Foster, played by Paul Butcher. Other human characters included Mia Sara as Samson’s ex-wife Lena and Francesco Quinn as the family’s manservant Arturo.
The Tinseltown pilot used to be available on the Logo Network’s YouTube channel, but was later removed for unknown reason. Since then, the pilot has not been made available online. However the characters Samson and Bobby have made appearances in other Henson related works, such as the improv stage show Stuffed and Unstrung, where they played the role as the shows producers, and in a 2011 video on the Jim Henson Company YouTube channel celebrating Jim Hensons 75th birthday.
Tumblr media
I find Tinseltown pretty interesting as I feel like it should be more noateable or known, considering that this is (as far as my knowledge goes) the first Jim Henson Company project featureing openly lgbtq characters as its leads, and would have been the first Henson show to do so had it been picked up. As someone who’s interested in lgbtq+ representation in creative media such as animation, I realised that there’s not many examples of canon lgbt characters in puppetry. The only ones aside from Samson and Bobby I could think off the top of my head would be Deet’s Dads from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Rod from Avenue Q. Though, obviously, there could be more I’m not currently aware of. I don’t think the Tinseltown pilot was a masterpiece or anything. After all, there’s probably a couple of good reasons Logo didn’t pick it up for a full series. But I think it be cool if either Henson co. or Logo made this available online again, if just so we could appericate it as an interesting little footnote in the history of lgbtq rep in puppetry.
With that said, considering the pilot’s obscurity and the fact that it’s main couple haven’t been used in any Henson Related projects in almost ten years, as well as the possibility that there may be legalities preventing the Henson company from releasing it such as Logo still owning the rights, it’s unlikely we’ll see the Tinseltown pilot anytime soon.
Sonic Live in Sydney (1997 - 2000)
Tumblr media
Sonic the Hedgehog is a fictional character no stranger to multiple interpretations of him and his universe across a diverse range of media. From the more light-hearted and comedic stylings of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Cartoon Networks Sonic Boom cartoon series, to more serious faire such as the Sonic SatAM cartoon and the Sonic Adventure videogame duology. One of the more obscure and stranger adaptations of the character came in the form of Sonic Live in Sydney, a one an a half hour live show hosted at the former Sega World Sydney amusement park in Darling Harbor, Sydney, Australia. Originally beginning as a live show with actors in meet-and-greet style costumes, the show eventually was replaced with a puppet show during its last two years.
The shows plot was set in an alternate timeline whos continuity was a mix of the SatAM cartoon and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where Doctor Robotnik’s Death Egg crash lands in Sydney, Australia instead of Angel Island and attempts to take over before being foiled by sonic and friends. According to Phillip Einfeld of Phillip Einfeld Puppetoons, the company that made the puppets, Sega felt the costumed actor version of the show wasn’t dynamic enough, and wished to replace it with a version featuring live puppets with animatronics. Both versions of the shows plot are identical.
While Sonic Live in Sydney’s soundtrack is available on YouTube, and some photos of the show are available on the Lost Media Wiki, no footage of either the costumed actors version or the puppet show version have resurfaced. The show was closed down in 1999, possibly due to cost, shortly before the Sega World park as a whole in 2000. So unless there is someone out there who viseted the show between 1998 or 1999 who recorded the show via a handheld camera, footage of both incarnations of the show are likely forever lost to time.
On a personal note, I don’t have much to say on this one other than how gloriously peek gaudy 90s Sonic the set/puppet design is. I have no doubt finding footage of these puppets in action would truly be a silly delight to behold...
Legend of Mary (year unknown)
Tumblr media
This one is a little different from the other entries on this list as while the film itself in its entiraty is available on YouTube for anyone to view, the information surrounding Legend of Mary, specifically its year of release, remains a mystery as of writing this.
I have mentioned the film before on this blog so I’ll keep it brief here: in summary, Legend of Mary is a short film retelling of the Nativity featuring the Rod puppets of Austrian puppeteer Richard Teschner. the video was uploaded to YouTube by user canada 150 archive. I looked up the people credited in the film and was able to find most of them, but didn’t find Legend of Mary listed in thier credits, and was unable to find the film on sites like IMDB, tMDB or Letterboxd. I reached out to Canada 150 archive asking if they had any info regarding the Legend of Mary’s release date, and after a coupe of months, they replied saying they didn’t know.
And that’s as far as I got on my search for answers, if anyone of you guys has any information regarding Legend of Mary, then it be of huge help in finding the release date.
Sam and friends (1955 - 1961)
Tumblr media
Sam and friends was the very first puppetry television series created by Jim Henson alongside his colabarator and future wife Jane Nebel. filmed in Washington, D.C. and airing twice daily on WRC-TV and the NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C. from May 9, 1955, to December 15, Sam and Friends would mark the first apperence of Kermit (though not yet as a frog) and paved the way for Henson’s iconic and revered legacy in the realm of puppetry on film and television.
With the impact this show had in mind, it may come as a shock to some that almost half of Sam and Friends, specifically, 42 of the 86 episodes, are considered lost. With 16 existing, 8 documented, 9 known from memory, plus 8 existing Esskay commercials and 1 memory-known Esskay commercial. Some taped episodes have been shown at venues such as the museum of the moving image while others have been erased. It’s unknown if copies of these erased episodes still exist.
This post would become far to long if I were too list every episode missing from Sam and Freinds, but if your curious, the lost media wiki article has a comprehensive list of all lost episodes.
Tumblr media
Annnd that about it for this post. This type of content is pretty different from the stuff I usually post. So I’m egar to see what you guys think about it. If you enjoyed this article, want to see more like it or have ideas for what puppetry-related topics I should cover in the future. And again, thank you all so much for helping me reach 55 followers. Your support really does mean a lot to me, and I hope you enjoyed this as a follower milestone gift.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed this dip into lost puppetry, and have a happy holiday season!

Season 8, Episode 7: Before My Very Eyes
This episode sure was a rollercoaster, wasn’t it?
Let’s dive right on in. :)
Plotlines:
The Love Triangle & Allie’s Adoption
Ned & The Canfields
Christopher’s Performance
Clara and Jesse
I guess you could say the plotlines were better written together/integrated in this episode than in previous ones. There’s a lot going on but most of the filming and plots just...rolled together?
For example, the saloon as the “gathering place” where multiple plot points take place simultaneously was really cool IMO. It helps the town feel livelier.
The Love Triangle & Allie’s Adoption
The love triangle is...an enigma. I’m probably in the minority of not really being that invested in who Elizabeth ends up with, but I doubt I’m in the minority regarding my general feelings on the love triangle: I want it to end.
I think we’re at a point where it’s just super frustrating for everyone involved, and we’re stretching the limits of suspension of disbelief when it comes to the audience.
I don’t think we’d be as harsh on the triangle if we had double the episodes a season. We get a whopping 12 this season, more than we’ve gotten in a long time, so space is limited, and time is limited, and we know she’ll reach a decision toward the end of this season, so there’s that...I don’t know...pressure I guess, on the characters and the episodes to showcase things in a manner that feels natural and moves well.
For what it’s worth I’m fine with Elizabeth’s turtle-pace, but with only 6 episodes left (5 after this episode aired), knowing she’ll pick someone soon (and it will probably be Nathan)... It makes it really difficult to stomach the Lucas scenes—not because I don’t want to see her with Lucas if she won’t end up with him, but because I feel really bad for Lucas!
Especially with the intense fourth-wall-breaking level of awareness Lucas seems to have regarding the situation. Yes, I’m talking about the line he quoted.
Tumblr media
“Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not.”
That’s only half the quote. This is the full quote:
“Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and often times we call a man cold when he is only sad.”
—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Sure, it’s applied to Henry, but it seems almost...too knowledgeable to me?
So, the quote is from the novel Hyperion: A Romance, published in 1839. Longfellow’s wife Mary died in 1836 after a miscarriage. Overwhelmed by grief Longfellow took trips to Europe and spent seven years trying to woo Frances Appleton. She eventually agreed to marry him.
Hyperion was inspired by this. Paul is the main character. He travels through Germany after the death of a friend, and falls in love with an Englishwoman named Mary Ashburton. She rejects him.
To say this was a thinly-veiled autobiography of sorts is, uh, an understatement. To have Lucas quoting it in When Calls the Heart feels...odd. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was an omen of sorts, but...we can’t forget Lucas’s parents’ history: his mother refused to marry his father for years, just like Frances refused to marry Longfellow.
It’s not a bad quote or anything...it’s just...frustratingly on the nose.
I did appreciate Elizabeth’s admission of not wanting to be one of Lucas’s “secret sorrows.” They’re courting publicly anyway, everyone knows it. It’s time for them to be a little more open about it, at least in little ways. Him squeezing her hand on the saloon table shouldn’t be a big deal at this point.
Tumblr media
If this was the storyline we were getting for Elizabeth (her slowly working her way toward something with Lucas) I’d be happy with it. I’m still Team Nathan but I like Lucas a lot this season and would be content with a storyline for him.
THE THING IS...I don’t think that is going to happen, and it makes me feel terrible to see him getting strung along like this. Elizabeth doesn’t come off as “has feelings for Lucas and is just nervous about showcasing it” for multiple reasons. First, she was very PDA-like with Jack, and secondly, that’s just...not how the scenes seem to be written. You can assume her reasoning but she never once is the one initiating and then backing off. He always initiates. She always backs off. It’s unbalanced and makes me feel bad for Lucas.
I really hope we get to sit inside his head a bit longer/more seriously at some point. Maybe he’s aware of her feelings for Nathan and is willing to try anyway because he believes that to some extent love is a choice? That would be really interesting tbh.
As it is, I just feel sorry for Lucas. Not that I think Elizabeth wouldn’t have hangups with Nathan, too, but I just feel like Elizabeth’s hangups with Nathan are more fear of what she is feeling/fear of what could happen to him in the future/fear of her heart being broken again, whereas with Lucas it’s almost like she’s not feeling it and trying to force that kind of affection with him makes her feel weird/gross/bad.
I definitely think she has a good friendship base with Lucas, but if the feelings aren’t there, they aren’t there.
Sorry, my thoughts are muddled. There wasn’t a lot going on with the triangle in this episode in terms of...triangley things. I just wish Elizabeth would choose so that the plotline could go away. I’m tired of seeing people strung along.
Nathan was pretty good in this episode. I appreciated his talk with Allie a lot; choosing to be kind and want good things for someone you like is a good example to set. I feel like in the café Allie’s dialogue about Elizabeth smiling at him was off; she probably should have said something more like, “If she doesn’t like you like that, then why does she smile at you that way?” might have sounded better. (He could have said “what way?” and she could have batted her eyes at him lmao.) Allie already knows Elizabeth is courting Lucas...and if we’re to believe the smile directed at Nathan is what tips Allie’s invite consideration to her adoption ceremony, then that would have been a better way to approach it (instead of “Did you see the way she smiled at you?!”).
I really loved that Lucas got Nathan and Allie a little gift. Honestly I just want Lucas and Nathan to be friends or something because the actors have good chemistry together and there’s a shortage of good male friendships in the show that feel Good. I wonder if we’ll find out what the gift was at any point?
Tumblr media
The end with Allie only inviting Elizabeth to the ceremony was hilarious. I wanted to actually see the ceremony (because Nathan promising not to leave her was SUCH a good line, I almost got emotional over that and I wanted to see it put into play again) but the imagery it left us with (it looks like a wedding...) was clear enough haha.
Poor Bill, stuck in the middle of that.
Speaking of Bill, the adoption being “on him” was really sweet. And then of course Bill can’t keep the moment tender because he’s always so Uncomfortable with Feelings, but it’s still very sweet.
--
Ned & The Canfields
I don’t have a whole lot to say here, but I really appreciated this storyline. It wasn’t the best-written surgery-medical-wise, but it felt heartfelt and that’s what matters.
Florence running around trying to do everything herself while also stressing out about Ned really felt...real. And then of course Rosemary getting appointed to the phones and gossiping forever...hahah.
Tumblr media
I’m glad I saw the writing on the wall with Joseph; of course he’s a former pastor! I really am intrigued by what his “plans” are that are not church-related. I like that they tried not to make him exactly like Frank, but boy what I wouldn’t give to see them both pastoring in Hope Valley. Then Joseph could pursue his dream while also pastoring a bit, and so could Frank. It’d be nice, and they’d probably get along swell.
Seeing more faith/prayer in the show has been great. Also, Joseph and Minnie are so cute together... I adore them.
--
Christopher’s Performance
And here we are, talking about the man of the hour... Christopher. Henry’s “secret sorrow” or the product of Henry’s secret sorrow? It almost makes me think he got over Nora with Christopher’s mother and she cut off ties with him and married Jerry the banker.
Henry’s opinion of Jerry is obviously not great, but he’s respectful enough to not talk badly about him. It makes me wonder if Jerry is a worse man than Henry is, though. Maybe so? I wonder if we’ll get more information about it.
They really did a good casting job with Christopher; he manages to look similar enough to Henry and kind of...mimic his way of smiling and movement that’s almost uncanny.
Of course...as Rosemary says, she knows a performance when she sees one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m wondering if Bill feels similarly...
But boy do we know how Lucas feels! Lee tells Lucas that his pocketwatch has been missing “about a week now.”
Lucas confronts Christopher and instead of Christopher being like, “Oh no! I’ll keep my eyes open in case he dropped it somewhere or maybe the chain broke!” he’s really sarcastic about it?
Tumblr media
He then tries for the second time to control Lucas (treats him like...he can order him around/bully him) by asking if Lucas found him a bigger room yet. This dude has a serious ego. The sound of Lucas intentionally shutting the door after this was delicious, though.
“If I find that you’re picking pockets, I don’t care who you are or why you’re here. You’ll be on the next stage out of town.”
Christopher just...almost smiles and stands up. “I didn’t steal any watch.”
Lucas says, “And I should believe you?”
Christopher responds with, “That’s your choice.”
Lucas leaves, and then Christopher pulls the watch out of his pocket.
Tumblr media
He seems to feel a little guilty when he reads the inscription...but still. He’s so skeevy.
And then he takes the flowers Jesse drops off the ground...to give to...Rachel... Honey, you got a big storm comin’... She knows he’s bad news but I guess she’s into it. Yikes.
And then we have the scene where Mike comes to Henry with a great idea he has, and is interrupted by the arrival of Christopher. Henry tells him he wants him to teach Christopher everything he knows. Mike’s enthusiasm dries up right away.
I think Mike also realizes Christopher is bad news.
And Henry’s just so excited to be “looked up to” and “seen as a father of sorts” that he can’t see what’s right in front of him. Normally he’d be attuned to bullshit just as clearly as Bill and Rosemary and the rest, but...his bias is in the way. He wants to fix his past so bad he doesn’t realize it might not be worth it...
I hope Mike keeps his idea to himself but I have a super bad awful feeling he’ll admit it to Christopher and then Christopher will pitch it to Henry as his own idea. I feel sick just thinking of it!
--
Clara and Jesse
Clara and Jesse were starting to repair things juuust every so slightly and then he gets mad that she’s shortening her skirt and...it all goes to hell.
Tumblr media
It’s not that I don’t love a little drama but this is just...I don’t know. Maybe too much? I liked Clara’s discussion with Joseph because he tells her the honest truth (and he’s full of advice, for better or worse, just like me HAHA): you can’t repair your marriage if you’re not around one another to even begin to heal the wounds/talk about things.
I’m not very invested in these two as characters these days, and I’m not sure what would fix it, but this spat being dragged out for ages ain’t it right now. I’m keeping an open mind, though; it could go somewhere interesting...and at least it didn’t get resolved in one episode.
Also, I appreciated Clara venting to Bill in that “I still care about him very much way” while Bill tries (somewhat awkwardly) to support her choice(s). He’s in a bit of a tough spot; he can’t offer advice freely because not many people are going to take marriage advice from a divorced man who didn’t marry for love in the first place anyway. It’s just good to see him trying to act supportive for Clara.
--
Other thoughts:
I see we’re getting more of the plotline where Bill has to give up his uniform, but he actually made a really good point in this episode about that. He did earn it! And then insult to injury...trying to make him give up his horse, too?
It’s cute that his horse’s name is Hero; I feel like that was stated much earlier in the show (maybe S3 or S4?) but I’d forgotten it, tbh. How wholesome.
“Am I being prideful?” I think this was a good question for Bill to ask, and honestly it probably took a bit of courage for him to even ask Lee about it/admit that maybe he was being a bit prideful. But like, it’s okay to take pride in your work/the work you’ve done. He did earn all of it and it’s not really fair to ask for him to give it all up. The jacket is one thing (it’s a physical item; yes it shows all the hard work he put in but it’s just an object), but the horse? That’s an emotional bond and it’s rather cruel to break it.
Lee excited to try on the jacket was literally the cutest thing, and I loved that Bill folded and let him try it on. Honestly? Lee looked pretty good in it!
That scene was the definition of BOYS WILL BE BOYS, hahaha.
Also, Elizabeth’s line: “Haven’t you ever lost someone so close to your heart that it tears you apart?” was SO CRINGEY. I don’t know how that made it into the finished episode. Please, writers... read this shit aloud before you film the show. READ ALL YOUR WRITING ALOUD TO HEAR THE CADANCE. I’m literally begging you.
But also, the whole concept is still cringe. You don’t know Dylan, Elizabeth. You didn’t know Colleen. You don’t know if he loved Colleen or not. You don’t know why he ran out on Allie. You’re projecting? Maybe? But even if he did fall to pieces over Colleen’s death, that was no reason to hurt poor Allie who had nothing to do with it and did nothing wrong.
They should have edited the line to say something slightly different. “Tears you to pieces” would have sufficed. And not rhymed on accident.
Last thing for now...the lack of Carson and Faith in this episode was amazing. I know the surgery with Ned will push Carson to either take the fellowship and return to Hope Valley to be of more use there and/or push him to just stay where he is because there’s no one else in the area with his skill level.
I think I’ll be happy with it if he becomes an area surgeon more than a regular doctor... it would help him and Faith both feel necessary for different reasons. And also, he was a surgeon when he arrived in Hope Valley in S4, so it’s clearly his strongest point (and best training/experience).
--
So uh, how ‘bout that preview for next episode, though? WHOA.
Hopefully this isn’t too scattered; work has gotten a lot busier since the weather got nicer, so I have less time to write without interruption lmao.

Today in Fandom History: November 22
Fandom: Disney
November 22, 1991 Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was released. One of my personal favorite Disney films with my favorite princess, the whole movie screams childhood nostalgia. It has voice acting from Page O’Hara, Robby Benson, Jerry Orbach, Richard White, David Ogden Stiers, and Angela Lansbury among others. The animation is fantastic, the music beautiful beyond what I can write of, and every second of it is filled with Disney magic in it’s most perfect form. This classic film got a reboot in 2017 starring Emma Watson and while it doesn’t match the original, I personally believe it did as well as it could have and was by far the best live action remake Disney has made. The story and music is simply timeless, and though it is a kids movie, it is worth a rewatch no matter a persons age. Happy 30th anniversary of one of the best Disney movies!
Fandom: Hunger Games
November 22, 2013 the Catching Fire movie was released. A drastic change in tone from the film I wrote of above, this is my favorite of the Hunger Games films and is adapted from my favorite of the Hunger Games novels. With the characters and world explained well enough now, this book and movie dives farther into the plot and does so brilliantly. With a terrain more dangerous than the forest from the previous, government officials rooting for their deaths, and uncertainty about the future filling their minds, Katniss and Peeta are in more danger than ever. It also includes the introduction of characters such as Beetee, Johanna, and my favorite, Finnick. That’s not to say it isn’t as dark as the previous though with the heart wrenching death of Cinna, and it leaving us on a cliffhanger that reveals the destruction of district 12, existence of district 13, and capture of Peeta by the capital. Raw, action packed, and explorative of both plot and characters, this movie is brilliant from thought to execution.
So much happened today that I didn’t have time to write a full post for them all, but I wanted to do a little remembrance down here. Today was also the death of novelist Jack London, author Aldous Huxley, writer CS Lewis, actor Mark Lenard, and actress Mae West. All incredibly important to the artforms they contributed to, may they rest in peace.

before i watch some shit i gotta know how the story ends. if not, ima critically analyze the whole movie until i figures it... it usually takes me 30 minutes to figure out the whole plot but that’s besides the point. knowing the ending of a movie allows me to pay attention to alll the little things leading up to the end. the directors choice in lighting, the way that certain actor did a certain movement to portray a certain feeling, setting, like camera work, basically everything i just the last 4 years of my life studying get applied to my enjoyment of a film.
I wish life was like that... you get to like google how it all ends for you. like what will happen in your life all the way to the end. you can always have what you envisioned for yourself, your plan, your schedule of things but then life has a funny way of letting you know that shit happens. and you learn whatever it is you need to from that incident, apply the lesson, and keep going. it’s actually pretty simple. like looking both ways before you cross the street and still almost getting hit by a car because a person felt the need to speed thru an intersection because maybe he had a family emergency or he had too much to drink. regardless life will thro curveballs, ain’t that fucked up? like bitch. lemme read my book of life so i can move accordingly. but i guess that’s not fun anyways because God would just tell us what to do and there would be no free will. and we all know how people hate being told what to do with there life from a higher up lmao
....but idk none of this shit really applies to me. I guess I’ll just share my testimony here since I'm only people who really give a fuck about me would give a fuck about this post. ( Which i recently found out is ME, i’m the only person who opinions/decisons matter when it comes to me life)
SO HERE IT GOES
Since a child, I always knew i was going to be a very wealthy person. I’m smarter than my peers, i’m stronger than my peers, and way more wiser than most of people i meet. It’s very rare I met a person who’s intellect is as diverse as mine in terms of emotional knowledge and regular book smart shit. Like i’m sort of a hood intellectual, but like different because my Dad is a foreigner who comes from i guess what you would call a decent background, My grandfather was an engineer in Germany lmao. Like wtf. That’s very hard to do. Them mfs got some history of disrcrimnation if you know what I mean. And another ancestor of mine on my father side was adopted by the priest of a missionary because he was so smart, hence why my last name has french origins. and you know what i found out this year during my research dives on the different religions in the world..
There is a Saint in the catholic religion named St. Malo and his birthday is the same birthday as mine. He’s french as well. LMAO SO like i said I AM BUILT DIFFERENT. But that’s not what i really wanted to go talk about so let’s talk about how I’ve always knew I am dying a extremely rich woman. First of my name type shit.
So yeah.
I LOVE PERFORMING AND PUTTING ON A SHOW OKAY! SINCE BIRTH!
I’m not even dramatic. I remember dancing in front of my family all the time.   Ask my auntie teena and she’d tell ya I would dance in front of anybody at any place in a drop of a dime. There’s literal footage of me dancing at every function at BayBay (Vivian) house. Lmao I still dance with all my family members at the bbqs I attend. Dancing really is my shit.
 Singing is too.
I remember going to church with my daddy, some spot in LA/ the Jamaican jawn with uncle Jerry, and singing “Because of who you are” in front of everybody. No fucks given, And i kid you not I felt the holy ghost. That’s the best feeling in the world. Happened to me a couple times but I’ll tell ya bout it later some day when it matters. i remember one time coming home and singing and HITTING THAT HIGH PITCH ASS MARIAH CAREY NOTE! ( we got the same birthday too)
and i always loved music. the only time i didn’t cry was in my daddy cars listening to the reggae and bass booming thru the fucking trunk.
During school I remember performing all the time. School plays, I got the lead role. School assembly, I’m putting on a show. Shit even for my 5th graduation I choreographed the whole MJ we are the world dance routine. Lol for hispanic heritage month I always was the girl who had the authentic skirt for the folklore dance. it was black and red. Very pretty. Mrs. Sanchez was enamored with me girl. She was like your the star you gone be centerstage in the middle only black girl while everyone else wonder why your on stage lmao. We were so good we entered a competition and got a trophy.
Basketball was fun. I do not like team sports so that ain’t work out. Plus i think i suck. Well I couldn’t have been that bad because in middle school I made the All City team. I didn’t play because my hair wasn’t done I kept the jersey though LMAO. They was hot. HS was whatever. Lowkey only did it because of the niggas and cheer was boring/got too intense for me. I had commitment issues back then like crazy lmao.
Track was fun too. Made championships when I ran. Heart really wasn’t into to it if I’m keeping it G-Real. Didn’t fuck with the track meets plus the girls on the team hated me. I was always with the guys but the weren’t like the guys i hung out with all the time. them niggas was squares, homeschooled and all that. i hung out with delinquents lmao. Shit they always more fun. I know why Jesus hung out with the sinners mmkay. They loyal and know how to have a good time.
In middle school, I won a poetry contest about this poem I had about being a tree and not falling despite what happens. I also got like  award for being the top 3% of scoring in the whole district a couple times. Moms got me a iPod touch lmao.
High school ASB President, got accepted into more than 20+ colleges, in AVID. Cheer team. Basketball team. My drama Teacher, Mrs. Borek called me the baby Viola Davis. I directed and produced my own play lol. Boy, when I graduated I was on stage with admin and faculty.
But anyways overall,
I’ve always been the cream of the crop in any arena I apply myself. And I’ve never ever experienced a situation where I’ve been down bad that I didn’t plot and maneuver my way out of it (besides the shit that happened this year 2020 but i’ll give my 2020 review later ). I’m continuously blessed. Even when  I shouldn’t be.
In elementary, I could’ve caught a case because I punched this boy in the head and he hit the tetherball pole then the floor. Buddy was knotted up lmao
In elementary school during after school day care I banged this girl head on the table and a pole lmao.
In the carmelitos i gave this girl the business at auntie meanies house. Abri said beat her ass so I did. Trust me daddy, I’m always on go lmao. Her family was from some type of hood. They ain’t retaliate.
Middle school I was beating boys up after school never got in trouble. LMAO None of the girls wanted to fight with they scary ass.
High school I did the dumbest shit freshman year but didn’t get suspended. \bro i’m tired. i’ll tell the rest later.  but closing statement life’s a gamble for people who don’ t know the code. once you figure out your role play to the best of your ability and pray to God to constantly look out for you. *  4:48

Weekend Top Ten #475
Top Ten Films Named After the Protagonist
I’m afraid this is another of those weeks where the list is not only plucked-as-if-from-nowhere, but is also going to be relatively perfunctory. I’ve had quite a few mammoth lists recently, and the kids have been off for Easter so I’ve had less time to sit down and waffle with my keyboard. As such, we’re going off on a random tangent (the best kind of tangent, let’s be honest): films named after the protagonist.
I remember when Michael Clayton came out, and without knowing anything about the film, I was a bit confused; “Michael Clayton” seems such an ordinary name. Was it a true story? Was I supposed to know who this guy is? It seemed a strange, non-exciting, non-explanatory title for a film that’s actually relatively twisty-turny. And, of course, once you sit down and think about it, there are actually quite a few films where the whole hook is “here’s a movie about this guy you don’t know”. Furthermore, some of them are pretty darn great.
Obviously I had to establish some rules, because if you say “ooh, yeah, films where the title is the main character’s name,” then instantly you could say, well, that’s every superhero movie, right? So I instantly discounted that; if it’s a pseudonym or a codename or whatever, it’s out. Sorry, Batman. Sorry, Spider-Man. Also, by that same rationale, sorry, The Quiet American or The English Patient; technically, those are characters, but they’re not their names, so they’re out. I’m also discounting anything where there are other words in the title apart from a name; so, yes, that discounts Batman Begins and The Amazing Spider-Man, but also Get Carter. And it has to be one person, so no The Blues Brothers (or, I guess, Ghostbusters, Gremlins, or Goonies).
Where I have taken a moment is whether or not to consider one-word titles; WALL-E, for instance, or Dave. In the end, I have decided – and this feels even a little arbitrary even for me – that WALL-E would be excluded on the grounds that that’s not a real name. it’s not a codename, necessarily, but it’s more of a model number; it only becomes a name because WALL-E is, to all intents and purposes, a person. If you want you can slot WALL-E in at number one, because that’s where it would be if it were included. Dave, as it happens, wouldn’t have made the list (although it’d probably be in the Top Fifteen). But another one that I’ve decided – after much internal deliberation – to exclude is Amélie, because I feel like its real title is Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain. That’s words other than a name. Sorry, Amélie. But like WALL-E, that’s a masterpiece, so would have probably been about number three.
So there we go: utterly arbitrary rules established, we now present a Top Ten.
Tumblr media
John Wick (2014): it’s a film very much about a bloke called John Wick, a name that’s simultaneously very ordinary and also a bit weird. And then it gets into its stride, and Keanu is just offing dudes like a cross between Batman and the Terminator. Excellent action, a great stoic performance by Reeves, but also a rich and deep mythology that slowly unfolds. The sequel is better, but it all started here.
Jackie Brown (1997): Tarantino’s forgotten film, a far more subtle and slower film than most of his others, lacking the histrionics and heightened alternate-reality stuff he’s getting more famous for. Despite QT being relatively young at the time, it’s actually a really sweet meditation on aging and chances passing you buy, anchored by a great, humane performance from Pam Grier. Despite the twisty plot and crime chaos, she’s the dead centre, cool but also realistically vulnerable. Also has Samuel L. Jackson being a badass.
Forrest Gump (1994): often criticised for its sentimentality (unfairly, I think) and its politics (yeah, I’m with you there) Gump is still great. Tom Hanks gives the character a ton of heart and pathos, walking a difficult line between a broad portrayal and nuanced characterisation. As a whirlwind tour of boomer history unfolds around him, he remains an engaging centre. The end of the film, when he struggles to ask if his son is smart, is a beautiful, heartbreaking moment.
Barton Fink (1991): a great exercise in stylised Coen weirdness. John Turturro’s Fink is a delightful arsehole, a writer full of his own self-importance, but as he is sucked further and further into this Hollywood hell, we still root for him and sympathise with him, even if he is in many ways the architect of his own downfall. Kudos, too, to John Goodman for his supremely demonic performance, which really should have bagged him an Oscar nom.
Jerry Maguire (1996): another film that could be criticised for its sentimentality, or maybe even its hypocrisy, criticising the commerciality of the sports industry whilst also cheering about one of the characters bagging a multi-million-dollar contract. But Cruise himself, as Jezza, gives one of his best performances as a man struggling to remain moral and ethical both at work and at home as he rushes into a hasty marriage. The oft-ridiculed “you complete me” scene is actually amazing and really emotional. And the kid is cute.
Donnie Darko (2001): a twisty oddity that came out of nowhere, starring a brother-and-sister team of actors we’d never heard of before, with famous people (her off E.T., him off ER) in supporting roles. But Jake G anchors the film with a great performance, genuinely making us wonder whether trippy supernatural stuff is going down, or if he’s just becoming unhinged. A really cool, interesting, unnerving film, that managed to successfully weaponise 80s nostalgia before that became annoying.
Napoleon Dynamite (2004): another one of those films that sort of came from nowhere, full of unknowns, but instantly built a huge cult following almost immediately. It’s delightfully weird, with its own internal logic, creating a world of weirdos and outcasts that we just completely root for right from the off, and it all hinges on Jon Heder’s central performance as the gangly, strange-looking, crazy-named Napoleon. Altogether now: “Yes, I love technology…”
Michael Clayton (2007): only this low because I don’t remember its twists and turns as well as I should. This is a taut and twisty thriller, with a man discovering a conscience and uncovering all kinds of nefarious corporate behaviour. Its great because the stakes aren’t world-altering, just big-scale bad behaviour and people earnestly opposing it. Full of tremendous performances but it’s got another heartfelt turn by Clooney at its centre.
Erin Brockovich (2000): another great person-investigates-corporate-bastardry, with Julia Roberts never-better as the earnest and earthy Erin who transcends her comparatively lowly status to throw her heart and soul behind the battle for justice. Her performance defines the film (and rightly won her an Oscar), which in terms of events and plot is relatively straightforward, but is shot through with a level of down-to-earth realism and a beautiful portrayal of friendship between Brockovich and lawyer Ed Masry (Albert Finney).
Ed Wood (1994): a film made at the peak of Burton’s powers, before his stylisation became a bit overbearing, and before his constant casting of Depp became annoying (and well, well before Depp himself became problematic). This is a love letter to the golden age of moviemaking and also to the schlocky B-movies Wood himself traded in, finding heroism in the example of one under-talented man making poor artistic choices. Depp is sweet and endearing with an earnest drive behind his good nature, making us root for him throughout. Arguably Depp’s best performance and Burton’s best film. But all due respect to Martin Landau, Sam Jackson should have won the Oscar that year.

Note
do you have any top 10 cruise films?
YES I ABSOLUTELY DOANJDJSKKS
1. Top Gun. God. One of my all time favorite movies I could talk about forever. It’s so gay & I just love the dumb concept of it all. A bunch of queer pilots who stare at each other just a little too long.
2. Risky Business. Also probably tied favorite. My senior quote is from it so it’ll probably have a very special meaning to me. I love everything about it. It was just such a breakout film.
3. Jerry Maguire. He should seriously be in so many more comedies like this. It’s just so flipping cute. It has everyone simping i swear. Plus every single character is so lovable.
4. Mission Impossible Series. I could talk about every single one of these individually but I shall spare you lol. I just can’t believe they stayed so good after like 25 damn years. I’m such a stan. Benjithan all the way.
5. A Few Good Men. A flipping classic omg. I pity anyone who hasn’t seen it. Not is every single actor is it fantastic but it’s so quotable and memorable. I absolutely think it’s a much watch.
6. Tropic Thunder. He isn’t in it much but he completely stole the whole movie please omg. His dancing & his cursing. I died. I won’t say any further as to not expose myself. But yes.
7. All The Right Moves. Ahhh yes another breakout role. I love it cause it shows how truly good he was at such a young age. Like. Ugh such a lil gentlemen. Plus I’m a whore for football.
8. Born On The 4th of July. One of his best performances honestly. It’s so passionate and deep. You can like truly fall into the story & characters.
9. Collateral. If you haven’t seen this movie you are seriously missing out. It’s hugely underrated in my option. The cast is impeccable.
10. Jack Reacher. Both of them have a special place in my heart. Please he is just. Ugh. In them I love his character and the plot. Especially in the second one.
Bonus. Taps & the outsiders.

This is it! The whole article where John Landau writes that Bruce “is the future of rock n roll”. Long but so worth the read, to see that quote in context.
GROWING YOUNG WITH ROCK AND ROLL
By Jon Landau
The Real Paper
May 22, 1974📷
It's four in the morning and raining. I'm 27 today, feeling old, listening to my records, and remembering that things were diffferent a decade ago. In 1964, I was a freshman at Brandeis University, playing guitar and banjo five hours a day, listening to records most of the rest of the time, jamming with friends during the late-night hours, working out the harmonies to Beach Boys' and Beatles' songs.
Real Paper soul writer Russell Gersten was my best friend and we would run through the 45s everyday: Dionne Warwick's "Walk On By" and "Anyone Who Had A Heart," the Drifters' "Up On the Roof," Jackie Ross' "Selfish One," the Marvellettes' "Too Many Fish in the Sea," and the one that no one ever forgets, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas' "Heat Wave." Later that year a special woman named Tamar turned me onto Wilson Pickett's "Midnight Hour" and Otis Redding's "Respect," and then came the soul. Meanwhile, I still went to bed to the sounds of the Byrds' "Mr. Tambourine Man" and later "Younger than Yesterday," still one of my favorite good-night albums. I woke up to Having a Rave-Up with the Yardbirds instead of coffee. And for a change of pace, there was always bluegrass: The Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe, and Jimmy Martin.
Through college, I consumed sound as if it were the staff of life. Others enjoyed drugs, school, travel, adventure. I just liked music: listening to it, playing it, talking about it. If some followed the inspiration of acid, or Zen, or dropping out, I followed the spirit of rock'n'roll.
Individual songs often achieved the status of sacraments. One September, I was driving through Waltham looking for a new apartment when the sound on the car radio stunned me. I pulled over to the side of the road, turned it up, demanded silence of my friends and two minutes and fifty-six second later knew that God had spoken to me through the Four Tops' "Reach Out, I'll Be There," a record that I will cherish for as long as [I] live.
During those often lonely years, music was my constant companion and the search for the new record was like a search for a new friend and new revelation. "Mystic Eyes" open mine to whole new vistas in white rock and roll and there were days when I couldn't go to sleep without hearing it a dozen times.
Whether it was a neurotic and manic approach to music, or just a religious one, or both, I don't really care. I only know that, then, as now, I'm grateful to the artists who gave the experience to me and hope that I can always respond to them.
The records were, of course, only part of it. In '65 and '66 I played in a band, the Jellyroll, that never made it. At the time I concluded that I was too much of a perfectionist to work with the other band members; in the end I realized I was too much of an autocrat, unable to relate to other people enough to share music with them.
Realizing that I wasn't destined to play in a band, I gravitated to rock criticism. Starting with a few wretched pieces in Broadside and then some amateurish but convincing reviews in the earliest Crawdaddy, I at least found a substitute outlet for my desire to express myself about rock: If I couldn't cope with playing, I may have done better writing about it.
But in those days, I didn't see myself as a critic -- the writing was just another extension of an all-encompassing obsession. It carried over to my love for live music, which I cared for even more than the records. I went to the Club 47 three times a week and then hunted down the rock shows -- which weren't so easy to find because they weren't all conveniently located at downtown theatres. I flipped for the Animals' two-hour show at Rindge Tech; the Rolling Stones, not just at Boston Garden, where they did the best half hour rock'n'roll set I had ever seen, but at Lynn Football Stadium, where they started a riot; Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels overcoming the worst of performing conditions at Watpole Skating Rink; and the Beatles at Suffolk Down, plainly audible, beatiful to look at, and confirmation that we -- and I -- existed as a special body of people who understood the power and the flory of rock'n'roll.
I lived those days with a sense of anticipation. I worked in Briggs & Briggs a few summers and would know when the next albums were coming. The disappointment when the new Stones was a day late, the exhilaration when Another Side of Bob Dylan showed up a week early. The thrill of turning on WBZ and hearing some strange sound, both beautiful and horrible, but that demanded to be heard again; it turned out to be "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," a record that stands just behind "Reach Out I'll Be There" as means of musical catharsis.
My temperament being what it is, I often enjoyed hating as much as loving. That San Francisco shit corrupted the purity of the rock that I lvoed and I could have led a crusade against it. The Moby Grape moved me, but those songs about White Rabbits and hippie love made me laugh when they didn't make me sick. I found more rock'n'roll in the dubbed-in hysteria on the Rolling Stones Got Live if You Want It than on most San Francisco albums combined.
For every moment I remember there are a dozen I've forgotten, but I feel like they are with me on a night like this, a permanent part of my consciousness, a feeling lost on my mind but never on my soul. And then there are those individual experiences so transcendent that I can remember them as if they happened yesterday: Sam and Dave at the Soul Together at Madison Square Garden in 1967: every gesture, every movement, the order of the songs. I would give anything to hear them sing "When Something's Wrong with My Baby" just the way they did it that night.
The obsessions with Otis Redding, Jerry Butler, and B.B. King came a little bit later; each occupied six months of my time, while I digested every nuance of every album. Like the Byrds, I turn to them today and still find, when I least expect it, something new, something deeply flet, something that speaks to me.
As I left college in 1969 and went into record production I started exhausting my seemingly insatiable appetite. I felt no less intensely than before about certain artists; I just felt that way about fewer of them. I not only became more discriminating but more indifferent. I found it especially hard to listen to new faces. I had accumulated enough musical experience to fall back on when I needed its companionship but during this period in my life I found I needed music less and people, whom I spend too much of my life ignoring, much more.
Today I listen to music with a certain measure of detachment. I'm a professional and I make my living commenting on it. There are months when I hate it, going through the routine just as a shoe salesman goes through his. I follow films with the passion that music once held for me. But in my own moments of greatest need, I never give up the search for sounds that can answer every impulse, consume all emotion, cleanse and purify -- all things that we have no right to expect from even the greatest works of art but which we can occasionally derive from them.
Still, today, if I hear a record I like it is no longer a signal for me to seek out every other that the artist has made. I take them as they come, love them, and leave them. Some have stuck -- a few that come quickly to mind are Neil Young's After the Goldrush, Stevie Wonder's Innervisions, Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey, James Taylor's records, Valerie Simpson's Exposed, Randy Newman's Sail Away, Exile on Main Street, Ry Cooder's records, and, very specially, the last three albums of Joni Mitchell -- but many more slip through the mind, making much fainter impressions than their counterparts of a decade ago.
But tonight there is someone I can write of the way I used to write, without reservations of any kind. Last Thursday, at the Harvard Square theatre, I saw my rock'n'roll past flash before my eyes. And I saw something else: I saw rock and roll future and its name is Bruce Springsteen. And on a night when I needed to feel young, he made me feel like I was hearing music for the very first time.
When his two-hour set ended I could only think, can anyone really be this good; can anyone say this much to me, can rock'n'roll still speak with this kind of power and glory? And then I felt the sores on my thighs where I had been pounding my hands in time for the entire concert and knew that the answer was yes.
Springsteen does it all. He is a rock'n'roll punk, a Latin street poet, a ballet dancer, an actor, a joker, bar band leader, hot-shit rhythm guitar player, extraordinary singer, and a truly great rock'n'roll composer. He leads a band like he has been doing it forever. I racked my brains but simply can't think of a white artist who does so many things so superbly. There is no one I would rather watch on a stage today. He opened with his fabulous party record "The E Street Shuffle" -- but he slowed it down so graphically that it seemed a new song and it worked as well as the old. He took his overpowering story of a suicide, "For You," and sang it with just piano accompaniment and a voice that rang out to the very last row of the Harvard Square theatre. He did three new songs, all of them street trash rockers, one even with a "Telstar" guitar introduction and an Eddie Cochran rhythm pattern. We missed hearing his "Four Winds Blow," done to a fare-thee-well at his sensational week-long gig at Charley's but "Rosalita" never sounded better and "Kitty's Back," one of the great contemporary shuffles, rocked me out of my chair, as I personally led the crowd to its feet and kept them there.
Bruce Springsteen is a wonder to look at. Skinny, dressed like a reject from Sha Na Na, he parades in front of his all-star rhythm band like a cross between Chuck Berry, early Bob Dylan, and Marlon Brando. Every gesture, every syllable adds something to his ultimate goal -- to liberate our spirit while he liberates his by baring his soul through his music. Many try, few succeed, none more than he today.
It's five o'clock now -- I write columns like this as fast as I can for fear I'll chicken out -- and I'm listening to "Kitty's Back." I do feel old but the record and my memory of the concert has made me feel a little younger. I still feel the spirit and it still moves me.
I bought a new home this week and upstairs in the bedroom is a sleeping beauty who understands only too well what I try to do with my records and typewriter. About rock'n'roll, the Lovin' Spoonful once sang, "I'll tell you about the magic that will free your soul/But it's like trying to tell a stranger about rock'n'roll." Last Thursday, I remembered that the magic still exists and as long as I write about rock, my mission is to tell a stranger about it -- just as long as I remember that I'm the stranger I'm writing for.

Like A Wrecking Ball
(This is my first attempt at a fic, please be gentle. LOL It’s also a very long story so bare with me)
Warnings: 18+ NSFW
“Damnit Alex!” Jensen growled as he tossed his phone on the coffee table.
Jared lifted an arched brow and looked away from the boxing match on tv, “Something wrong man?”
“That girl is gonna be the damn death of me.” He rolled his forest green eyes and shook his head.
“Should I even ask?” He grinned.
“She's sent me over twenty pictures today.” Jensen responded.
“You mean friendly pictures, or pictures?” Jared glanced at Jensen's phone.
“I'll let you use your imagination.” Jensen sighed.
“I thought you were a little distracted today.”
“Couldn't remember a damn line!” He answered exasperated.
“Alexandra getting a little anxious for you to come home?”
“She's not the only one. This holiday shooting schedule is killing me. Between being here on set and at conventions, I haven't been home in three weeks.”
“Face time not working anymore?” Jared laughed.
“Face time? Really?”
“Sorry, forgot you're not coordinated enough to hold the phone and use your other hand at the same time.” He laughed before dodging Jensen's fist to his arm.
“You're an asshole, Jared!”
“Seriously though, as soon as we wrap, you'll be on a plane. Where is Alex anyway?”
“She's in Savannah, airing out the summer house.”
“So how long is she off?”
“From what I heard, she's off for the summer. She has a bunch of comp time I guess.”
“You bringing her back with you?” Jared asked propping his long legs on the coffee table.
“I don't know, you know how she is about “too much commitment”.” Jensen answered.
“Still won't give you a definite answer, huh?”
“Nope. It's fucking frustrating! All it does is end in an argument.”
“How do you two find any time to talk anyway? Seems to me, all you guys do is fuck!”
“Jealous much?” Jensen smirked
“Alright, that's a wrap on 222! Have a good holiday everyone. Call time will be Wednesday morning at 9am, don't be late!” Jerry, the director yelled as cameras and lights were turned off.
Jensen clapped Jared on his back and smiled, “That's it for me! Have a good weekend!”
“Be safe brother...don't need any more Jensen's running around!” Jared smirked.
“Funny! You asshole!” Jensen laughed walking with Jared toward the trailers.
He grabbed his stuff and gave Jared a quick hug before heading toward the black SUV waiting for him. “Hey Jay!” Jared yelled as Jensen threw his bag into the back seat.
“What?” He turned around.
“Tell Alex I said hi and to get her ass out here. It's kind of boring dealing with you fuckers everyday!” Jared cracked a smile, when Jensen flipped his middle finger up at him and slid into the back seat of the SUV.
Jensen settled in and felt the vehicle pull away. He laid his head back against the leather seat and took a deep breath. It had been a long three weeks and he missed Alexandra like crazy. It still surprised him that they were even together. He had met her almost a year ago thanks to her childhood friendship with Jared. At the time he hadn't been looking for anything, he was having too much fun living the single life.
When Alexandra walked into the convention center that day, his whole world tilted. He couldn't stop staring as she took off on a run toward Jared. It seemed as if someone had punched him in the stomach as he almost forgot how to breathe. He watched as Jared stooped down from his massive 6'4” height to pick up her petite body. His heart pounded in his chest as Jared spun her around with her feet dangling above the floor. When Jared introduced them, he had trouble finding his voice.
In the midst of his reflection, his phone vibrated in his hand. He opened his eyes and tapped the message from Alexandra. “You like pink, right?”  It read along side a picture of her sitting on the black marbled bathroom sink wearing only pink polish on her toes.
Jensen groaned shifting uncomfortably in the seat. “Damn her.” he exclaimed under his breath. If she kept that up he wasn't gonna make it.
He sent her a picture back of his face set in stern lines with narrowed eyes and tightened lips. “Keep it up and I'm gonna punish you when I get home!”
The phone buzzed again and he looked back down “How bout you make it fair, send me a pic!”
“I just sent you one.”
“As sexy as your face is babe, I want to see something else...” She texted back.
Jensen dropped his head back against the seat again, every text was going deeper. “I can't send you that kind of pic, Clif is in the front seat and I don't want him getting that view of me.” He glanced back up to the front seat at the back of a bald head that was bobbing along with the song on the radio.
“Too bad! I had a few more pics that I wanted to send you. Guess I'll just keep them to myself!” she responded.
Jensen let out the breath he was holding in. He hoped she was done with the pictures, as it was, his cock had been pressing uncomfortably against his jeans all day. There was only so much rearranging he could do.
The phone vibrated again and he couldn't help but look right down at the picture message notification. “Here we go.” he said to himself.
“Hope you will be here soon! Can't wait to feel your hands....” The picture showed creamy smooth thighs spread slightly open, but the picture stopped before it showed anything.
The groan escaped his lips before he could stop it. Damn this girl!
“You okay Jay? Need anything before we get to the airport?” Clif's gruff voice asked.
“No man I'm good.” He answered shaking his head. “Think I'm just feeling the long night.”
“You gonna be okay catching the plane alone?” He asked glancing in the rear-view mirror.
“I should be fine. It's a private flight thanks to Alex, so there shouldn't be any problems.”
“How has she been? Haven't heard much about her lately.”
“She's great. She's got the whole summer off so I should be seeing her more.”
“You planning on staying with her this summer?”
“I don't know. We haven't talked about it yet.”
“Okay, let me or Michael know if we have to work.”
“Clif, you do realize that we're not y'all's responsibility all the time.”
“Sure you are, we're your bodyguards.” He responded chuckling. “Gotta protect you boys from all those screaming girls.”
Jensen laughed, “O lord!”
Alexanda slipped off the bathroom sink and reached for Jensen's shirt that was hanging on the towel rack. She laughed to herself knowing she was causing Jensen to be turned on all the way back home.  Flipping  her hair back over her shoulder, she walked down the stairs.
She hadn't decided if she was gonna keep messing with him or let him be. It had been a long 3 weeks since she had last seen him and truth be told, she couldn't wait to get her hands on him. It was bad enough his job kept him away from her weeks at a time, but with the conventions thrown in, the weeks got longer and harder.
A couple more pictures shouldn't hurt him. She laughed and took a few shots of Jensen's shirt sliding off her shoulder. Wonder what he will do when he gets home?
The ride to the airport seemed to take forever and Jensen was getting antsy. He had been away from Alexandra way too long and his thoughts just kept traveling back the pictures she had been sending him all day. He couldn't seem to stop torturing himself. He grabbed his phone and flipped back through all the messages and pictures. Suddenly he realized his other hand had wandered down to rub over the bulge in his jeans. He sat up straighter and tossed his phone into the seat beside him.
“Relax boss, we'll be there in about 10 minutes. This traffic sucks.” Clif replied hearing Jensen's restlessness.
Once the plane taxied down the runway and they took off, Jensen let out a deep sigh. Only 7 hours and he would be with Alexandra. It would be four days they didn't have to worry about paparazzi or the outside world
He couldn't seem to figure out how she had gotten to him so quickly. He could still remember the first time he had admitted he was into her.  She had been hanging out with him and Jared on most weekends for a few months, at least when they weren't working. He had been trying to figure out a way to talk to her alone, but was a nervous about Jared finding out. Alexandra and Jared had been best friends since they were babies and from the sounds of things, they had been each other's first in a lot of things. Jensen had never made a move on her because of his friendship with Jared. But one day Jared cornered him.
“Okay brother, what's going on?”
“Don't know what you mean.”
“When are you gonna tell me you have a thing for Alex?” He responded lifting his brow.
“I don't.” Jensen answered.
“Why would you bother lying to me? We've known each other long enough that I can tell.” Jared sat down next to him
Jensen let out an exasperated sigh, “Fuck! Is it that obvious?”
“Extremely obvious.”
“Don't worry Jared, I'm not gonna do anything about it.”
“Why do you say that?
“Dude, that's your Ex! That's just messed up. You and I are friends, practically brothers. I'm not gonna screw with that!”
“You think I'll get pissed if you asked her out? She's not really my Ex. We had a bit of  a thing when we were 16. We've been friends all of our lives. But she's got a mind of her own and has every right to tell you yes or no. Besides I know you're a good guy and you wouldn't hurt her, but if you ever did...” Jared smiled.
“Right...Got it.”
Jensen laughed to himself at the memory of Jared trying to reassure him to ask her out. For all the confidence he projected to the world because of being an actor, he was still that shy kid from Texas. Every time he got into a room with her, he still had trouble speaking what was on his mind. But apparently she had a few ideas and had gotten tired of waiting.
The first time they kissed, he hadn't be prepared. They had all been hanging out and Jared had to go do a meet and greet for their convention. That had left them alone in Jensen's room. He had been trying to act calm and collected but was so distracted by being alone with her. He was trying to focus on the tv, but couldn't even remember what show they were watching. The floral scent of her perfume gently teased his senses making him want to pull her closer.
“Okay I have a deal for you.” She stated, breaking through his thoughts by waving a dvd in his face.
Jensen smiled and watched her flip her long black hair over her shoulder. Her almond shaped emerald eyes sparkling with mischief.  “What deal do you think I'm gonna make? Not sure I trust you.”
Her eyes widened with innocence, “You don't trust me? That's a little pot and kettle don't ya think?” She laughed.
“Okay fine. What's your deal?
“Let's watch this movie, and the first one that jumps loses and has to do whatever the other one says.”
“What movie is it and have you seen it before?”
“It's Saw III and no I haven't seen it before. It just came out.”
He was pretty sure this was a horrible idea but he couldn't seem to stop himself. “I'm game but, are you sure you can handle doing what I want when you lose?”
Alexandra reached her slender hand out and lifted a brow. “Deal!”
Jensen looked from her narrowed eyes to her outstretched hand. “Baby you are gonna regret this! But deal!” He clasped her hand and their eyes met. The thought went through his head that he could just tug her closer and she would be in his arms. His eyes dropped down when she softly bit her bottom lip.
Jensen cleared his throat. “So the movie, you want popcorn?” He asked pulling away.
Jensen lasted about 30 minutes before a scene made him jump. “Damn it!” He exclaimed when she started laughing.
“Bitch you're mine!” She doubled over laughing harder.
“Okay fine. What do I have to do?” He asked watching her shoulders shake.
“Let's finish the movie and I'll let you know” She answered quietly chuckling and leaning her shoulder back against his.
So he spent the rest of the movie wondering what kind of torture she had for him. She had a mind just as twisted as his or Jared's and she wasn't afraid of making them look like idiots. It was even worse since it was during the convention, she could have anything up her sleeve. When it was finally over he turned to face her.
“Okay, let's get this over with. What do you have in mind?”
She smirked and turned to face him. He thought he could see a little bit of doubt in her eyes and was slightly confused.  “Okay, I will give you the chance to back out. I know you are worried.”
“Not a chance Alex! A deal is a deal and I don't back out! Lay it on me!”
“Okay, you asked for it.” She replied licking her full red lips.
“Bring it!” He answered with false confidence.
“Kiss me!” She demanded watching him.
Jensen's mouth dropped and he stared wide-eyed at her. “Excuse me? Did I just hear you right?”
“I'm sure you did. Are you going back on a deal?” She snagged her bottom lip in her teeth again before dropping her eyes to watch his lips.
His sense of competition caused slight insult at her challenging him. He really wasn't sure he should do it, but her command was causing his blood to turn to fire. He had been wanting to kiss her, wondered how soft her lips would be against his. It would only be an innocent kiss, right? Damn this was a bad idea, but he couldn't back out now. “I don't back out on a deal!”
“Well I'm waiting! And I'm not talking a boring grandmother kiss. Give me a good one!”
Jensen's blood pumped hot and fast, he hoped he could keep his voice steady. He moved in until he was breath away from her full lips “Did anyone ever tell you that you talk too much?”
“Well then shut me up!” She answered dragging in a ragged breath.
His hand seemed to move of it's own volition. It gently slid over her cheek before grasping the back of her neck. Her lips opened with a soft gasp as he pulled her to him. He watched her eyes close before shifting forward and touching his lips to hers. A soft moan escaped her and he lost a small grip on his control. The kiss deepened with him tracing his tongue over her bottom lip.
All at once it was like she came alive in his hands. She straddled his thighs, her tongue sliding against his. The salty flavor of the popcorn was there but also some deeper darker flavor that he was sure was all hers. As it seeped into him, her hands came up to frame his face and her moan shot lust filled heat straight through his body. Once her hands slid up to his hair and sharply pulled, the rest of his control snapped. He scooped her hips up and quickly turned to lay her beneath him on the couch as there was a knock on the door. They froze with him cradling her against his body.
“Wow” She breathed out. “What are we gonna do about this?”
“Right now, I'm guessing nothing. We should answer the door, it might be Jared.” He responded breathing hard.
“I'm thinking I should answer the door, unless that's Dean's gun in your pocket.” She answered grinding her hips gently against him.
He dropped his forehead against hers, “Fuck Alex, you are killing me.” He groaned as there was another knock.
Jensen groaned, realizing he was getting himself worked up again thinking of Alexandra. This girl was like a damn drug. He could never seem to get enough and  she just wouldn't commit to him. Just kept telling him that she wouldn't be good in a relationship. She had bad luck keeping guys around. He knew eventually they would reach a point there had to be a definite decision but he couldn't dwell on it or he'd go crazy.
He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and pulled it out.  “Baby, are u sleeping?” He read, reclining the seat back.
“No, but shouldn't u be?”
“I'm just laying in bed wearing ur shirt. Miss u so much, need u to hurry home.”
Jensen smiled, he could picture her laying back on the bed, the white comforter pillowing around her slim muscular frame. Thinking of her long silky hair fanned out over the white pillowcase. She probably had that cute smirk on her face, she loved being defiant.
“Baby, I'm going as fast as I can, but u need sleep. The things I'm planning on doing to u, I think u are gonna need your strength.”
“Mmmm, babe u need to give me a preview!”
“I think I'm gonna leave u to wonder. Get some sleep!”
“Yes Sir!”
Alexandra laid her head back on the pillow and stared at a picture of him on her phone. The closer he got, the further away it seemed he was. The flight from Vancouver was going to take forever. It was gonna be morning before he got there. She sat her phone on the nightstand and turned off the light. The sooner she got to sleep, the sooner he would be home with her.
Sighing, Jensen laid his head back against the seat and felt the exhaustion of the last few weeks catch up to him. It was gonna feel so good to be home. Settling back he closed his eyes and let the exhaustion finally drag him under.
When he surfaced again, Wendy, the flight attendant was gently shaking his shoulder. “Jensen, we are beginning our descent into Savannah. Fasten your belt please. Just to let you know, Ronnie will be waiting with the car for you on the runway.”
“Thank you Wendy.” Jensen sat up, bucked his belt and looked out the window at day break beginning to come up.
“I bet it's a welcome sight to see Savannah.” Wendy replied.
“Yeah it is. It's been a long time since I've been back here.” He answered taking a deep sigh.
After landing Ronnie ushered Jensen to the waiting car and they sped away into the early morning. He watched the city fly by and his mind drifted again. Alexandra always seemed to do things that caught him off guard. She had seen the house in Savannah online and pretty much bought it sight unseen, because he said he loved vacationing there when he was a kid. She completely baffled him at times. Like the first time they made love;
Jensen had just finished on set and walked back to his trailer. The night shoot had run over and the sun was on the rise. He had been covered in corn syrup blood for so long, he felt like a life sized sucker. He badly needed a shower, a case of beer, and his bed. The only good thing, it was the end of the week for him and he had three days off. He was off to the apartment until work called again. Hopefully Jared wanted to watch the Cowboys kick the Bronco's ass Sunday night.
He stepped out of his trailer after the shower, heading toward his SUV, waving at various crew members as they were wishing him a good weekend. Jensen kept an eye out for anyone wanting to prank him before he left. Pranks ran rampant on the set and he wasn't immune to it. His mind wandered over the next few scripts, trying to work out how he was going to handle Dean's character arc. Clif took his bags and threw them in the back of the Denali and Jensen opened the back door to get in. A movement caught his eye and he followed the long line of creamy white skin up over a slim knee to the bottom of smooth thigh. His eyes widened and he looked up further to see Alexandra's long dark hair falling over her shoulders and a huge smile on her lips.
“Going my way sexy?” She asked leaning back against the other door.
“Baby what are you doing here?” He asked smiling.
“Had a few days off. Clif smuggled me onto set.”
He slid into the back and she draped her legs over his lap. “So I've got you for the whole weekend?”
“Am I screwing up your guys weekend with Jared?”
“I actually don't have any plans with him yet. Was thinking of watching the game with him on Sunday. But other than that I'm completely yours.”
“Good, cuz I have plans for you.” She replied as Clif pulled out into traffic.
“You gonna give me a heads up?”
“Sure you don't want to be surprised?” She asked lightly rubbing her leg over his crotch.
Jensen narrowed his eyes and looked down at her leg. “Alex, baby come on.”
His eyes were drawn up her legs as she slid the skirt of her cobalt blue dress up her legs a little more. She slid a leg to the floor spreading her thighs open, to his shock all he saw was slick, bare skin.
Pure lust rocketed through his body, shooting straight to his groin.“Oh god!” He groaned.
“Everything okay boss.” Clif asked glancing in the rear view mirror.
“We're good man.”
“Okay we will be at the apartment in about an hour. Settle back and I'll get you guys there safe.” He answered turning up the music.
Alexandra smirked at Jensen and lifted a brow. “You better be quiet. Don't want your bodyguard to get a look.” She whispered.
“You're pure evil.” He playfully glared at her.
“Am I?” She asked running her hand up her leg.
Jensen's eyes hungrily followed her hand as it slid up farther, she leaned back against the door . Alexandra smiled and spread her legs a little wider.
“Enjoying the view?”
His tongue darted out to lick his lips, his mouth beginning to go dry. “Come here!” He quietly growled.
“Nope. I'm comfortable over here.” She smirked.
Need was clawing to the surface quickly, he had to get his hands on her. “Come here now!” He demanded.
Alexandra laughed and slid over to Jensen, pulling her skirt back into place.
“Yes dear?” She asked, blinking innocently at him. “Did you need something?”
“I have half a mind to bend you over my knee!” He sternly whispered in her ear as her signature scent of gardenia filled his scenes.
He watched her rub her thighs together and bit his lip to suppress a moan.
“You like that idea?” He whispered lightly running his tongue over the shell of her ear before nipping the lobe.
“If only you could feel how much I like that.” she replied.
“I didn't realize you were such a tease.” He whispered.
“I can stop.” She replied sliding her hand slowly up his toned thigh to the growing hardness pushing against his jeans.
“Baby.” He growled in her ear. “I'm not gonna make it back to the apartment if you don't move your hand.”
Lust had him by the throat and it was getting hard to breathe.
“Aww, my poor baby! Maybe I should rub it a little more to make it all better.” She laughed gripping him tighter.
Jensen groaned before he reluctantly grabbed her hand and moved it down to his knee. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat and Alexandra draped her legs over his before curling against his side.
“God, you're a damn tease.” He softly nipped her ear lobe again.
“So, we've got 30 minutes til we get home... how are you going to keep your hands off of me?” She purred against his mouth.
Between her breath on his neck and her hand rubbing against his leg, it was probably the longest 30 minutes he had ever sat through in his life. He just kept telling himself to relax and he would make her pay when they got back to the apartment.
When they finally got upstairs and dropped his bags, he caged her against the door. “You can't tease me anymore. What will you do now?” He breathed against her neck.
“I'm sure I can think of something. Unless you want to hold me here.” She smirked.
As she reached for him he quickly brought his hand down and grabbed her wrists before holding them above her head.
“Mmm... Jensen are you gonna get a little rough tonight?” She purred.
He slid his other hand down her hip til he got to the bottom of her skirt. “I could get rough. You still deserve punishment for teasing me in the car.”
“Seems like all I'm hearing is talk. You gonna back it up big man?” She asked yanking her leg away from his seeking hand.
“Is this how you want to play it?” He asked grabbing a handful of her skirt and wadding it up in his fist.
His body coiled tight with lust as her eyes widened and she nervously licked her plump red lips. He chuckled darkly hearing her moan. Playfully she fought against his hand still holding her wrists.
“How fond are you of this dress?” He asked tugging a little harder.
She moaned again spreading her thighs open for him. “I didn't hear an answer, Alexandra!” He exclaimed.
“I'm pretty fond of this dress. I just bought it.” She bit her lip.
Jensen felt the dark thrill of control running through him. Too far along to realize this wasn't normal for him. “Too bad. I have a feeling it's about to get ruined.” He smiled.
He gave a strong yank that ripped the seams apart on the sides and heard her moan out loud. “Jay, who's teasing who here? We've only got a few days and you are still talking.” She replied in contradiction to her wide lust blown pupils.
“If I was teasing you, I would do this,” He responded by sliding his hand under the torn fabric, up between her legs, cupping the wet heat of her.
Alex squeezed her eyes shut and strained against his hold as he slid a thick finger easily into her. “Damn, baby,  already so wet for me.” He tightened his grip on her wrists
He stretched her tightness by sliding another thick finger inside her. He pumped them in and out a few times, watching her drop her head back against the door. “Jensen, Please...”
“Please, what Alex?” He asked stilling his fingers.
“Baby, please don't stop!” She groaned bucking her hips to get his fingers to move again.
“I think I'm good right now.” He responded leaning forward to tug her bottom lip with his teeth. “Besides, I said I was going to punish you.”
“Damnit Jensen! Please don't stop, I'm begging you.”
He loved the way she was coming apart in front of him. “Doesn't take much for you to crack, does it?” He laughed.
She looked up at him through glassy, pleading eyes. “Actually it does, I've been edging myself all damn night. Wanted to wait until you had your hands on me.” She moaned.
“Edging?”
“Yeah, I've been reading some fan fiction online and playing a little. Some of it can get a little hot.” She smiled as she bucked her hips again. “Come on, please, I've been dying to come all night. I've been here since six yesterday.” She moaned as he curled his fingers slightly inside her.
“Aww, my poor baby. I think we should do something about that...” He responded letting go of her wrists and dropping down to his knees. “Take off the dress!” He commanded pulling his fingers away from her soaking pussy.
Alexandra quickly pulled the ruined dress over her head and threw it off to the side as Jensen quickly spread her thighs and pulled a leg over his shoulder. He gently ran his tongue against her dripping slit. Her hips jerked and she moaned before he tightly gripped her hips and held her in place. He found her slippery hole and lapped at her like he was a starving man. Her hands came down to grip his hair tightly as she arched back against the door.
“Fuck, Jay! I'm so close...please don't stop!” She moaned, pulling harder on his hair.
The pain of her yanking his hair was sending a wave of heat through his veins. He groaned and pulled back before swirling his tongue around her clit. He glanced up, seeing her bent back against the door and smiled before plunging 2 fingers back inside her dripping wetness. Her internal walls clenched around his fingers and it felt like the only thing holding her up when her knees buckled was his  fingers inside her.  Alexandra's whole body seemed to vibrate with the orgasm but he kept licking and sucking on her now sensitive button.
“Jensen...” She breathed. “Stop, stop, stop....I can't”
He pulled back and looked up at her, “Just one more...Want to feel you come apart on my tongue this time.”
He watched her chest heave with her labored breath. She groaned as he slid his tongue back inside her soaked pussy, fucking her in and out slowly in time with his fingers rubbing on her clit. He heard her voice getting louder and her thighs still shaking from the first orgasm clamp down on his head.
“Jensen, Oh God!” She cried, before her body contracted and arched backwards grinding her pussy against his face involuntarily. She let out a loud wail and he felt her explode all over his lips. She gripped his tongue and squeezed tightly before he felt her walls fluttering from the orgasm hitting her again.
Slowly he pulled back and gently lowered her down into his arms. “Are you okay baby?”
“I think I might have blacked out for a second. Where the hell did you learn that?”
He just smiled.
“I can't believe we just did that in the entryway.” She laughed.
He rubbed her arms and nuzzled against her, “I can say that's a first for me. How bout we get up off the floor, I think I've bruised my knees.”
“Not sure I can walk yet. My legs are still shaking.”
“Everything is shaking.” He laughed. “You do that edging thing often?”
Jensen stood up and pulled Alex shakily to her feet. He helped her to the bedroom where he reached behind her and unclasp her bra letting it fall to floor. Helping her up on the bed he gingerly laid down beside her. He was so hard that moving was becoming difficult.
“Actually, no I've never done it before. I read about it a few weeks ago. I was playing earlier and was so close to coming but I was hoping I could hold it off until we were here together. I have to say it definitely paid off cuz I've never come that hard in my life.” She smiled.
“You know you just delayed the inevitable. I didn't get to properly punish you. Guess I will have to do it again later.”
“I promise you will have the chance but for now, I have something to take care of.” She smiled.
“What's that?”
Jensen warily looked her up and down as her smug satisfied face changed into the mischievous little imp he was used to. Suddenly she sat up and looked down at him.
“Stand up and strip for me.” She replied.
Slowly he slid from the bed and turned to face her. He reached his hand behind his head grabbing the back of  his black v neck shirt pulling it up and off his toned body. He saw her bite her lip as he kicked off his shoes and socks. Her hand shot forward and pulled him to her by the belt before he could pull it off.
“How much of a problem do you have with a woman in control?” She asked lifting a slender brow.
“Don't have a problem at all.” He replied nervously.
“Good!” She exclaimed before pulling his belt off and unhooking his pants. “Take them off.”
Blood rushed through his body at lightning speed at hearing her being in control. He pushed the denim down his muscular thighs and to the floor, leaving him standing there in just his black boxer briefs. She licked her lips again and smugly smiled up at him.
“God you are so fucking hot.” She groaned.
Her hand slid up his hip and grabbed the waistband of his boxer briefs and slowly slid them down. She watched his hard cock spring up before wrapping her hand around it softly squeezing. “Mmmmm, so hard for me.”
Jensen's eyes squeezed shut and his head tilted back.  He bit his lip as her hand pumped up and down a few times. “Get on the bed!” She commanded as his eyes popped open. “Lay down on your back and close your eyes!” He watched her smile before he complied.
“Boy, you sure do trust me. That might prove to be a mistake tonight.” She laughed.
He hoped he sounded more confident that he currently felt. “Do your worst!” He smirked. “By the way, didn't you just say something about me running my mouth? Isn't that what you're doing? Are you stalling for something?”
“Actually I was stalling a little bit.” She laughed.
Jensen jumped and his eyes flew open when he felt cold metal latch around his wrist. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“You said you didn't mind a woman in charge.” She looked down at him. “Am I going too far?” She asked suddenly timid.
“Um...no, but warn me before you do something like that.”
Alex sat on the edge of the bed and worriedly chewed on her lip. “Jay if you aren't comfortable with cuffs, I can get rid of them. You know I'd never do anything to hurt you.”
Jensen hated the look he had put on her face. He turned over as much as he could, being attached to the headboard by his right wrist. He reached up and stroked her cheek. “Baby, I know you'd never hurt me. I trust you. It just startled me a little. I wasn't expecting it.”
“Have you ever played with cuffs?” She quietly asked.
“No. But I'm game to try just about anything.” He murmured before sealing his lips to hers. “Now, where were we?” He asked laying back down on the bed and stretching his left hand up the headboard. “Don't you have another cuff around here?” He smiled.
She shyly smiled and straddled his stomach. As she leaned forward to hook the other cuff to his hand, he leaned up and flicked his tongue against her nipple. She moaned and cupped his head bringing his mouth closer to her breast. He licked and sucked on her nipple before looking up at her.
“Thought you were supposed to be in charge. You seem to be following my lead again.”
He felt her hand tighten in his hair, before pulling his head back and wondered what the hell he had gotten himself into.
“You're right! Thanks.”
Alex slid down his chest lightly scratching her nails down  as she slid her body back to his thighs. He moaned as he felt her dripping slit slide over his hard cock.
“Mmmm baby I want to be inside of you.” He moaned.
“When I'm ready baby” She smiled, spreading her legs wide and leaning forward to take the tip of his cock into her waiting mouth.
Jensen's legs tensed as she slid him all the way to the back of her throat. He felt the warm tightness surround him, leaving him tensing in pleasure. Flicking her tongue against the bottom of his shaft on the way back up, she wrapped her hand around the base squeezing, and pumping her hand up and down.
Jensen strained against the cuffs as Alex scraped her teeth against his smooth hard shaft.
“Oh fuck!” He moaned. “Baby, your gonna get me off.”
“That's the plan.” She laughed coming up for air.
“I'm afraid I'm gonna be useless for the next 30 minutes if you don't stop.”
“I could keep myself busy while you rest up.” She answered leaning back  on her right arm and licking her fingers, trailing them down to her wet slit while he watched wide-eyed.
“Alex.” He groaned in frustration as she slipped her fingers deep inside her pussy.
“You are such a whiner.” She laughed.  She pulled her hand away and slid her slicked fingers up and down his hard shaft. “I can feel you throbbing. God I am so turned on right now.”
He watched her straddle his thighs and grind herself over his hard cock. She started sliding back and forth and he could feel her warm wetness covering him. He arched his back, grinding hard against her. “Fuck Alex, feels so fucking good.” He moaned.
Her body started to shake and he could tell she was close to coming. Her fingers gripped his sides and her nails bit into his skin. “Jay, I'm so close.”
“Baby, come all over me.” He answered pushing against her harder.
Her body shook harder as her hands came up to her breasts squeezing before traveling up to grip her hair. It was so erotic to watch her grinding over him. By now there were no more words coming from her mouth, only unintelligible noises. She tensed tight and let out a strangled cry before collapsing down on top of him, shaking. It was everything he could do, to not explode with her.
Jensen strained against the cuffs trying to hold her. “Alex uncuff me. I need to touch you.” He responded.
“Not yet, I'm not done with you. I'm just trying to get my breath back.” She sat up and kneeled over him. Reaching under she wrapped her hand around his still hard member and lined it up with her dripping hole before slowly sinking down, bowing back with the pleasure that coursed through her.
“You're so tight, feels so good.” He moaned, watching her readjust her hips. Suddenly, she worked her hips up and down riding him hard and fast. He watched her breasts rising and falling, hating that he was still tied up. “You're so sexy riding me like that.”
Her hands came up to her breasts to squeeze them and tug on her nipples as she looked down smiling. “I knew you would feel this good inside me.”
“Baby, please! I need to touch you. I'm begging you!” He moaned as she stopped rocking her hips.
“You need to touch me? Really bad?” She chuckled.
“Just remember, whatever you do to me, you will get back later.” He growled.
She leaned forward to uncuff him and he slipped out of her. When he was released he grabbed a hold of her hips. “My turn!” He grinned.
He flipped them over before burying himself to the hilt inside of her in one thrust. She let out a loud cry before gripping his shoulders.
“Fuck me!” She cried out meeting his thrusts with her hips.
He leaned down over her moving harder and faster, feeling her walls grip him tighter. His lips met hers and their tongues danced together. Alex's hands slid up Jensen's back and her nails dug in drawing streaks of red on their way back down.
“Alex, I'm gonna come!” He exclaimed as his rhythm began to falter.
Her lips slid over his stubbled cheek on the way to his neck where her teeth bit down on his sensitive pulse point. His body tensed as a white hot explosion rushed through him. He felt her body tighten around him as he filled her up with his cum.
They were so exhausted when it was all over they had passed out, with him softening inside of her.
Jensen's erection painfully straining for release brought him back to the present. Damn her, she did it to him again, and she wasn't even there with him. He laughed to himself and turned back toward the window. Once again the thought ran through his mind, God he missed her!
He laid his head against the seat and closed his eyes.
“Are we heading out to the summer house?” Ronnie asked breaking through Jensen's thoughts.
“Yeah, Alex is out there right now.” He answered a little tired.
“Cool. Will you need me once we get there?”
“No, we should be okay. You head out once you drop me off.” Jensen responded yawning.
“Hopefully with the long weekend you'll be able to get some rest. Clif told me that it's been nuts this week.” Ronnie responded.
“It's been nuts for the last three weeks. The schedule has been rushed and we had a few conventions thrown in. Conventions are always fun but man are they exhausting. All those people, the lights, feels like you're running a marathon.”
The road was becoming more familiar as they drove farther out of the city. It was a relief his long trip was coming to an end. He wondered if he would be dragging Alex out of bed or if she was already awake. He shouldn't wake her up but he couldn't wait to see her.
Jensen noticed the homes were coming farther and farther apart. He knew they were close. He felt himself starting to check out again before Ronnie's voice cut through.
“We're here. Would you like me to take your luggage in for you?”
Jensen looked around at the long lane they were currently driving up. He felt a sense of calm come over him at seeing the large white farm house sitting about a hundred feet from a beautiful crystal lake.
“No, I'll jump out at the house and grab my stuff. You can take off. We'll be okay.”
When they came to a stop, Jensen hopped out and grabbed his luggage from the back. He waved goodbye to Ronnie and walked toward the house. He got to the bottom of the steps and the front door flew open. He had just enough time to drop his bags before he caught a ball of energy in his arms. Her arms and legs banded around him holding tight. He couldn't even get a word out before Alex's lips were fused to his own in a hard bruising kiss. He staggered back before catching himself against the stair rail.
“Baby I'm so glad your back! I've missed you so much!” She said in between hard kisses.
Her moving around caused her to grind against him. He held in a groan before readjusting her by sliding his hands down to cup her ass. Trying to keep his balance, he blindly made his way up the stairs and stopped at the front door.
“Open the door, don't wanna drop you.” He growled pulling away from her lips.
Sparks of pain and pleasure shot through him as she grabbed a handful of his hair, pulling his lips back to hers as she yanked the door open with her other hand. They tripped though the front door and she laughed. Alexandra finally pulled away far enough for him to get a good look at her.  Emerald eyes sparkling with happiness, full lips swelled and red from their kisses, and her long hair swinging free.
“Baby, it's been such a long night coming home. I've missed you so much.” He whispered against her lips.
“As much as I've missed hearing your voice in person, I think we have more pressing issues.” She breathed.
“And those are?” He grinned.
“You have to ask?” She giggled, tightening her legs around him.
“Alex...” He looked down at her bare legs, watching them tighten more. His fingers dug in to the flesh of her ass.
“Come on Jay.” She moaned grazing her teeth against his neck. “I made it easy for ya...” She ground against him again before nuzzling against his ear. “I'm not wearing any panties baby.” She whispered.
She felt him growing harder before suddenly his fingers dug harder into her and he pushed her against the wall. She braced back against the wall before reaching down to unbutton his jeans. He swept everything off of the foyer table before sitting her down.
He tried to step back to help her with his jeans but she wouldn't let go of him with her legs. “Baby let me go.” He murmured against her lips.
“No, there's no reason to.” She unzipped his jeans and in one swift move, pushed them and his boxer briefs down. “I'm all good.” She moaned against his lips.
When she wrapped her hand around him, he was as hard as stone. He groaned, his hands traveled into her hair and pulled, tilting her head up to him. “I've been waiting all night to have you wrapped around me.”
She nipped at his bottom lip causing him to growl low in his throat. “What were you thinking of doing to me? I mean you said you have things planned for me, did you forget?”
“Didn't forget. I just got in the door.” His hands slid down her sides, over the soft cotton of his shirt that was currently sliding off her shoulder, down to the soft skin of her bare thighs. Sliding to her inner thighs, he quickly shoved them wide. “Lean back for me.”
She smiled and leaned back against the wall planting her feet on the edge of the table presenting herself wide open for him. “What are you gonna do to me?”
“Right now I'm enjoying the view.” He smirked.
She traced her fingers down her body sliding over the pale skin of her inner thigh.  “Come on Jay, I'm kind of lonely over here! I'm gonna start pleasuring myself in a second.”
He stepped forward cupping her warm mound in his hand. “Is this what you want?”
“No.”
“No?” He looked up at her confused. “What do you want then?”
“I want your cock deep inside of me.” She smiled.
He stepped forward and she felt him slide the head of his cock against her slit. He leaned over her and drove himself to the hilt, crushing his lips against hers swallowing her scream. Giving her a second to adjust to him, he pulled almost all the way out before slamming back inside her over and over again.
Alexandra rolled her hips meeting his thrusts. He slid his arms underneath her and pulled her up to wrap her legs around his waist. He shoved the table away and slammed her back against the wall, she heard pictures falling down and hitting the floor but she didn't care. He gripped her hips tight but she was unaware he was going to leave fingerprints there. They rocked back against the wall over and over and she grew more and more slick.
It seemed neither one could speak, could only moan and in her case cry out when he hit that sweet spot inside of her. Her hand came up behind him and started pulling his shirt over his head. He didn't even stop thrusting as she pulled it all the way off and threw it somewhere over his shoulder. Her nails dug into his shoulders as she held on for the ride he was giving her.
Alexandra's body pressed tight against his, rubbing her cloth covered full breasts against his bare chest. Jensen moaned out her name as she clamped down on his cock. She felt her body coil tight before it exploded with her cry.
She squeezed down on him harder as he lowered them to the floor. He drove deep into her, chasing his own release. Fisting the front of her shirt, he ripped it open sending buttons scattering everywhere before leaning down to take a nipple into his mouth.  The sucking pull of his mouth caused her to moan and she bucked up against him straining as he bit down on the hard little nub. Her muscles squeezed down on him again and he groaned. She felt him stiffen in pleasure before falling down on top of her.
Alexandra's breath was heaving as she stroked a loving hand through his hair. “Wow baby, have you been storing that up?”
Jensen let out a lazy chuckle before groaning and pushing himself up to his elbows. “Something like that.”
She turned her head, looking around the aftermath of their energetic reunion. “I'm glad we didn't end up in the glass over there.” She smiled.
He leaned down and softly kissed her neck. She followed his gaze and felt a laugh bubble up through her chest.
“Shit, it looks like a damn wrecking ball smashed through this place. Don't you ever clean?” He laughed.
She punched him in the side as he laughed harder. Standing up, he pulled her to her feet and carried her over to the couch.
“Don't want you to stand in the glass. I seem to still have my shoes on.” He responded looking down at his pants still around his ankles.
“Not my fault you didn't take them off before you tried to put me through the wall.” She pulled him down to her for one more kiss.
He slowly pulled his jeans back up and grabbed Alexandra's slippers. “Stay here and I'll clean up. Hope we didn't break anything important.
“I need another shirt. I'll be right back.” She smiled, gingerly stepping around the glass and running up the stairs in only her slippers.
Jensen looked around again once he grabbed the broom. They had destroyed the foyer. He laughed, and picked up a broken frame. In the photo, he stood behind a laughing Alexandra with his arms wrapped around her. Her head was tilted back against his chest, emerald eyes squinting with happiness.
Drifting back to that day, he remembered standing there, with Jared taking a picture to commemorate the Fourth of July. Alexandra had been wearing this yellow sundress that hung off her shoulders and he couldn't help but stare at her.
It was the first time he had told her he loved her. They sat in the middle of the Supernatural cast watching fireworks over the lake in Austin. He had leaned forward and softly whispered the words he had said to no one else before. It felt like they were in there own little world together, in the middle of a crowded lake side. She turned toward him, and with the exploding colors reflected in her tear filled eyes, she said, “I love you too.”
The memory drifted away as a feeling of melancholy took over. He couldn't understand, if she loved him, why did she keep pushing away the idea of a relationship. Lately, this seemed to be all he could think about. He shook his head and sat the picture on the foyer table, slightly annoyed this feeling ruined his joy at being home.
Jensen was just walking out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee when Alexandra was coming down the stairs completely dressed. He watched her smile falter before she walked up to him. “Baby, are you okay?” She asked reaching for his hand.
He inwardly cringed, he hated how well she could read him. “I'm alright. I'm just tired from the last few weeks.”
Alexandra's eyes narrowed, “Jensen, I know you are, but this isn't being tired. What's wrong?”
“Alex, I can't do this right now. Let's just enjoy the few days we can spend together.” He replied quietly.
Her eyes shifted away and he was pretty sure she knew what was going on inside him. He prayed she would just let it go for now. If they got into the relationship problems, this whole weekend would be ruined. This always ended in a disagreement.
He watched her struggle with the decision to say anything, before letting out a sigh. “Alright, we can chat about this later. Welcome home. Shall we watch a movie?”
Feeling relived, he reached out a hand for hers. “Sure, go ahead and grab one.”
“I can choose?” She smiled.
“Yeah sure...just nothing too chick flick.” He grinned.
They sat on the couch with her leaning back against him between his legs. He wrapped his arms around her and breathed in the scent of her shampoo. His body started to relax when her hands came up to cover his.
“Will you get mad if I end up falling asleep?” He murmured in her ear.
“Nope, I'm sure you have had a long night getting here.” She snuggled back against him. “I'm just happy to feel your arms around me. I've missed having you here.”
“Baby, I hate being gone so much.” He gently laid his chin on her shoulder. “Wish we lived closer.”
Her hand slid up into his hair, nails gently scratching against his scalp. “I know you hate being gone. I hate it too. Seeing you through a screen or hearing you on the phone makes me miss you more.”
“Alex...” Jensen trailed off, knowing he couldn't say what was really on his mind. “I love you more and more every day.”
“I love you too, you know that, right?” She responded.
“I know you do.” He took a deep breath, “You know, we're missing the movie.” He answered trying to shift the focus away from the relationship talk.
Alexandra felt Jensen relax into sleep and took a deep breath. She knew what was going on with him. She had been feeling it too lately. Every time they were together there was a ghost in the room. Something that was in Jensen's mind that he was afraid to talk about.
She knew he wanted more from their relationship and she just wasn't ready. Every time she fully gave her heart and soul to someone it always ended with her getting her heart broke. She just couldn't trust him enough to give him what he wanted.
It killed her to know what she was doing to him. She was always truthful with him, she loved him beyond measure but just couldn't go that final step. One day it was gonna become more of a problem then they could solve.
Jensen's eyes opened slowly when he felt something settle over the top of him. Alexandra was watching down over him with part of a blanket in her hands, softly smiling. “I'm sorry. Didn't mean to wake you up. Just didn't want you to get cold.”
Jensen reached his hand out to her and she sat on the edge of the couch cushion. “Why aren't you keeping me warm?” He asked in a raspy sleepy voice.
“I was going to get the porch in order. I haven't hung the swing or put the flowers out yet.”
“Lay around with me today. I will hang it a little later.” He slid against the back of the couch and gently pulled her down against him. Before she could attempt to get back up, he had her covered with the throw blanket and had his arms wrapped around her. “Just want to feel you against me. I hate always being away from you.”
Alexandra snuggled up against him. “You expect me to lay here all day? I won't get anything done.”
“Oh well, we can try again tomorrow.” He sleepily smirked.
“Okay, you win this round.” She giggled as her fingers traced over his hand on her hip.
“How has the office been going?” He asked.
“We've been toying with the idea of a new line of perfumes and colognes. But mom and dad say they aren't quite there yet. Scents are a little off.”
Jensen shifted forward and softly inhaled the scent of gardenias that he now associated with her. He was glad that Alexandra's family, who were in the cosmetics field, made the scent specifically for her. No one smelled quite like his Alex, it was a scent that excited and comforted him. She thought she was being sneaky wearing it when he was home, but he knew she wore it around the house just for him.
“Are they anything like this? He asked nuzzling his nose against the shell of her ear.
He heard her quick intake of breath as a soft hum came from her throat. “No, nothing like this. I think it's a spicy scent. I'm not sure I like it too much. Kind of hoping they don't push that one forward.” She sighed as he softly kissed a line down the back of her neck. “Jay, this isn't laying around.” She breathed out.
“How is it not? We're laying down, aren't we?” He grinned against her skin.
“Your distracting me....” She replied turning over.
“And that's bad, how?” He asked softly kissing her lips.
“I have something for you. I'll be right back.” He smiled as she stroked his face.
“I have something for you too and it's right here.” He smirked.
Alexandra laughed and smacked his shoulder. “I'm sure you do. I'm sure I can already feel it.”
“You know me so well.”
Jensen lazily watched Alexandra run toward the dining room and come back with something in an elaborately wrapped box. It was square and black with a white bow on top.
“You seriously got me something?” He asked sitting up.
“Well, yeah. What did you think I was saying to you?” She shook her head.
“Well I was hoping it was maybe a French Maid outfit, or maybe a sexy cop.” He grinned.
“All you can think about is sex! I'm beginning to feel like your sex toy.”
“Now wait a minute! Who was the one blowing my phone up all day yesterday with sex pics?” He tried looking insulted but couldn't quite manage to hide the smile that turned his lips up.
“Those were an artistic expression. And it's not my fault that I thought you looked fucking hot in them. You should never have allowed me to take those pics.” She grinned.
“I doubt you sent them to me so I could look at my naked body. All I saw was you in some very compromising positions.”
“And you better delete them from your phone too. All I need is for someone to hack your phone and the pics go viral.”
“Oh no, I'm keeping them and I might just show Jared a few of them.” He loved shocking her.
“You wouldn't dare!” She stated with wide eyes.
“What if I already have?” He asked smirking.
“I know you haven't. Jared would have called me as soon as you were away from him. He can't keep that shit to himself. I'm sure he would have teased me mercilessly.”
“Yeah you're right.” Jensen agreed. “Now, I want my gift!” He reached his arms out to her.
“I'm not sure you deserve a gift after this bratty behavior.” Alexandra replied holding it out of his reach.
Jensen stuck his bottom lip out and batted his eyes at her. “Please!”
“Okay, all that shit may work on the 'Jensen girls' but it doesn't get you anywhere with me.”
“The 'Jensen girls'?” he asked completely baffled.
He watched Alexandra break out into a fit of laughter. “Yeah those girls that think Jensen Ackles hung the moon! He is so perfect! If only they knew you like I do...”
“What are you talking about? I am perfect... every inch of me.” He laughed
“And we are back to sex again....”
Alexandra sat down next to Jensen and handed him the box, before pinching his cheek. “Just because you are so cute and I've missed this face, I'll give in this time.”
He leaned forward and softly kissed her lips. “I've missed your face too.”
Her hands came up to frame his face as her thumbs rubbed over his cheekbones. “What is it about you that hooked me from that first meeting?” She asked searching his face.
Feeling concerned at this turn in the conversation he knew he had to tread carefully. “I don't know, I was wondering about that on the ride home about you. I've decided that I don't want to know what it is. I'm just thankful it did.”
“I'm thankful too. I've never met anyone like you. But, you need to open that box.” She pulled back and gestured to the box he was almost dropping on the floor.
He sat back on the couch and slowly opened the lid to find a thin, square dark green glass bottle. He lifted it out of the box and realized there was liquid in it. “Alex what is this?”
She reached over and took the bottle from him. “Just smell this.” She pushed down the top and the air filled with a woodsy clean scent.
“Wow, I like that. But I hope you aren't trying to replace your scent.”
“This isn't mine. It's yours. I've been working on it for about a year. Ever since I met you for the first time.”
She turned the bottle over and there in a white bold script was the word Jagar. “Alex you made me cologne?”
“Yeah. And it's up to you if we market it or you keep for your own. I never know what to get you, that you can't get yourself. I tried to give it a scent that would make me think of you.” She smiled with her eyes beginning to tear up.
Jensen quickly spritzed a little on his wrists and held one out for her to smell. “How does this smell?”
“Like curling up with you on a wooded porch while it was raining.” Her eyes filled a little more.
“If you like it so much, why are you crying?” He asked pulling her in for a hug.
“I truly don't know. This sounds so stupid.”
“What does?”
She rolled her eyes as a single tear ran down her face. “Sometimes when I'm with you, I just get overwhelmed with how much I feel for you. It just doesn't seem like it should be like this.” She answered as she looked away.
“It annoys you that you love me?” He asked reaching up and gently turning her face back toward him.
“No, of course not baby.” She responded as she cupped his cheek.
She continued, “You know I'm not big on the rom-com cliches. And the only thing I can think to describe how I feel about you, it's every one of those damn lines.”
“Well you know those lines came from somewhere first. There's a reason they are used in those damn movies.” He answered pulling her close to his side. “Just know that you are not alone with those feelings. I'm trying not to overwhelm you with the things I feel and think about us. But, Alexandra, I have never loved anyone like I do you. I think we could have a future together.” He pushed forward so she couldn't respond, “I'm not rushing you or even suggesting anything. I'm just stating how I feel. Please don't think I'm trying to start an argument. I know how you feel about the future stuff.”
He couldn't believe that she had actually started this conversation, but it was too far in to stop now. He just prayed it would end peacefully. He didn't want the next few days screwed up.
She turned to face him, playing with his fingers that were gently laying on her leg. “Jensen, I truly don't know how I feel about the future. I guess I'm not as opposed to it as I was before, but...”
“You're still scared.” He finished.
“Aren't you?”
“Alex, the future is never sure. Yes, something bad could happen and we both could get hurt. But something wonderful could happen and we could both be happy.” He answered feeling his heart pound heavier. She was finally coming around to his side of the argument. They still weren't on the same page, but, it wasn't a flat out no anymore.
“Let's not think about this for now. We only have a few days and I want to be as close to you as I can this weekend. I want your full attention and I don't want your mind to be elsewhere.” He answered staring down into her glassy eyes.
She giggled and he felt himself start to relax. “Okay we will shelve this for now. But, do you really like the way the cologne smells?”
“Yeah, I do. It means a lot that you worked so hard on this. Part of me wants to keep it all to myself.”
“Well you do have the right to do that. I told you, Mom and Dad have left it up to you about marketing it. And Jager is just a tentative name. I thought maybe you might have a better one.” Alexandra smiled.
“What does it mean?” He asked rubbing his thumb over the raised letters.
“It means hunter in German. I thought because of your heritage, and and your character's job, it fit. But honestly Jay, you can have it named anything you like.”
Jensen was taken aback. Not only had she been working on this for almost a year, she had thought long and hard to make the name meaningful to him. This was probably the most thoughtful gift he had been given in a long time.
“I can't think of a better one. Baby, thank you.”
Jensen opened his eyes to find Alexandra curled against his side as the sun was began to rise. Her even breathing was as calming as the birds chirping outside. He could feel the last of his exhaustion fade away as her warm body snuggled closer.
He missed her so much when he was gone. It always felt like a part of him was missing when he was away. After the conversation they had last night, they may not be apart very much longer. He just had to wait her out, hopefully she would come to the decision on her own.
Alexandra's leg slid over his as she curled closer to him. He let out a contented breath as his fingertips traveled over her knee and up her bare thigh. He debated on waking her up or just watching her sleep. He watched his fingertips creep higher over her warm smooth skin before feeling her watching him.
“Are you having fun?” She asked sleepily, sliding her hand over his.
“Actually I'm just enjoying a lazy morning in bed with you. Didn't really mean to wake you though.” He smiled, turning more on his side.
“You didn't wake me, not really. I'm still in work mode. Not used to having lazy mornings.”
Jensen slowly pulled her closer sliding her leg over his hip. He watched Alexandra smirk before shifting her leg to wrap around his waist.
“What are your plans this morning?” Jensen chuckled, and rubbed his calloused hand up her thigh pulling her tighter against him.
“Jay,” She bit her lip watching him.
He could feel her soft grinding against him. She was beginning to drive him crazy. He could feel the heat spreading through his blood.
“Hey, slow down, not yet.” He whispered, kissing her cheek.
“Why not? I can feel how ready you are for me.”
“Want to take my time.”
“You mean you want to tease me.” She leaned closer rubbing her lips over his neck.
“Teasing you sounds like a good idea. I can't think of a better way to spend the morning.”
Jensen rolled them both over and leaned down over her. He felt her wrap her other leg around his waist pulling him down closer.
“Come on Jay.” She breathed against his neck.
He slid his hand slowly up her thigh, “Come on, what?”
“Hurry up, want to feel you inside me.”
“You're gonna have to wait for that...” He chuckled. “So, for now, shut up and enjoy.” He stated, leaning forward and tracing her bottom lip with his tongue.
Jensen reached back and untangled Alexandra's legs from his waist, laughing at her protests.
By early afternoon, they were cleaning the wrap around porch. She had talked Jensen into hanging the swing and a couple of ferns she had picked up in town. The peaceful sounds of the country chirped and twittered around them.
By the time the last fern was hung, Jensen turned to watch Alexandra digging in the flower beds to plant the petunias she had dragged out of the shed. He'd bet she had no clue how beautiful she looked, with the bandanna holding the stray hairs away from her face that was currently smudged with potting soil. The same hands that had clung and clawed at him when they were making love were gently placing flowers in the ground. He laughed at how sappy his thoughts were getting.
“What are you laughing about Ackles?” Alexandra stood, looking up at him.
He walked over and dusted his fingers over her cheek. “You look like you've been playing in the mud.” He smiled.
“Yeah, that's cuz I've planted 4 flower beds while you've been playing on the porch.” She batted his hand away from her face.
“Well how about you take a shower and I'll start dinner. I want to get my hands on that grill.” He smirked when she glared at him.
“I think you enjoy the thought of having your hands on that damn grill, more than me.”
Jensen stepped down off the porch and pulled her in front of him. “Really? That's what you think?” He smiled.
“Yeah that's what I think.” She stated rubbing her dirty hands all over his cheeks before running around him and through the front door.
“Damnit Alex, you're gonna pay for that!” He yelled running after her.
The sound of Alexandra's feet pounded up the stairs as she made her getaway, with Jensen just a few feet behind. He finally caught up to her at the bedroom door, snagging her around the waist, pulling her flush against his body.
“Come here!” He demanded trying not to laugh.
“Something wrong Jay?” He watched her lift a brow as her mischievous smirk crossed her lips.
“Was the dirt necessary?”
“Well yeah, you tend to get dirty when you're planting flowers.” She smiled.
“Smart Ass! Now you're gonna pay.” He responded.
Alex let out a squeal of laughter as he picked her up and carried her through the bedroom door. He felt her squirm to get away as he walked her into the adjoining bathroom.
“Jensen Ackles, don't you dare!” She yelled as he pushed her into the shower and turned it on cold.
Before he could get away, she shot of the shower and pushed him against the wall. She pressed against him tighter, her wet body shivered against the cold.
“You're an asshole.” She chattered, dripping mud all over him and the floor.
“I told you, you were gonna pay.”
A small part of him felt bad so he grabbed a towel to wrap around her. He heard her sigh when he pulled her back into his arms.
“Well now we're both wet and dirty.” He stated looking down at his white t-shirt and blue jeans smeared with mud. “Guess we both need a shower.”
Alex laid her head on Jensen's shoulder and snuggled closer to him. “Only if you promise, no more cold water.”
“You have a deal, but only if you keep your hands to yourself.” He answered as he wiped her hair away from her face.
“I thought the only reason you loved me was because I never kept my hands to myself.” She smirked.
“That's one of the many reasons I love you.” He stated, pulling the towel from her.
Jensen had finished helping Alexandra clean the dinner dishes just in time for his cell phone to ring. When he glanced at the screen, he smiled to see his mom's name.
“Hey Mom.” He answered putting down the drying towel.
“Hey. How has your mini vacation been going?” She asked as he walked toward the back door.
“It's been well needed. Work's been killing me lately. Alex has been great. How have you and dad been?”
“We're good. But when are you gonna bring that girl over to meet us? Your father and I were just talking about that today. Haven't you been dating her long enough to quit hiding your family from her. I promise you, I'll make your father behave.”
“You'll make Dad behave? I think Dad would have to make you behave. Honestly, I just don't think we are at the parent meeting stage of our relationship. There needs to be a bit more time.”
“Jens, you're not fooling me. What's going on?”
“Nothing Mom. Everything is fine. We're just taking things slow.”
“Are you sure that's all it is?”
“Yes Ma'am.”
“Okay fine. You're still not fooling me but I'll let it go for now. I just wanted to check on you. If you don't call me, I'll call again in a few days to check on you again.”
“Okay Mom, I love you.”
“Love you too.”
Jensen turned back around to find Alexandra watching him.
“Was that your mom?”
“Yeah. She says hi. Dad and mom want to meet you. I hear about it all the time when they call.”
“Jay, I... um.. Not ready.”
“I know Alex. I told them that we're not at that stage yet.”
He noticed how uncomfortable she was becoming and tried to smooth out the conversation.
“Alex, I'm not trying to pressure you. I know you're not ready.”
“I feel like I'm disappointing them and you. I just can't.” She responded with tears in her eyes.
“Hey, come here.”
Jensen pulled her into his arms, squeezing her tight. “Baby, you could never disappoint me. I know you aren't comfortable with that stuff. I'm not pushing.”
“Just don't want you to hate me.” She wiped at her tears as she pulled away from him.
“I need some air.” She stated, walking out to the back porch.
Jensen watched her leave regretting even bringing it up.
Alexandra walked down the steps and made her way to the lake. She sat on the dock dragging her feet in the water. No matter what Jensen said, she knew she was letting him down. But she just couldn't do it. She couldn't give him a real relationship let alone meet his parents.
The look in his eyes when she freaked out told her all she needed to know. What they had wasn't ever going to be good enough for him. What she wanted wasn't gonna be enough for him.
She thought back to the first time she realized she was in love with Jensen. They had been dating for 4 months when she woke up one morning with the flu. Her whole body hurt, she couldn't keep food down and she had one hell of a migraine.
Around 5 at their nightly check in, the phone rang.
“Hey.” She answered
“Hey Baby, What's wrong?”
“I feel like shit. Think I have the flu.”
“Aww my poor Baby. Do you need anything?”
“You're across the country in Dallas. How are you gonna get me anything.”
“I'm sorry you don't feel good. Are you still in New York?”
“Yeah, still staying at the 4 seasons. Guess I'm not gonna make my meeting tomorrow.”
“Have you had anything to eat?”
“No, I'm having trouble keeping water down.”
“Well I'm gonna let you get back asleep.”
She curled back into a ball and groaned. Which is where she woke when there was a knock on the door. Daylight was shining bright through the windows and she glanced at the clock as there was another knock. Who could be knocking on her door at 9am?
She grabbed a robe and shuffled her way to the door. She looked through the peep hole to see Jensen standing there with a bag in hand. She quickly opened the door.
“Jay, what are you doing here.” She backed up and let him in.
“Nothing is worse than being away from home and being sick. I just wanted to check on you.” He shut the door.
“You flew across country just to check on me?”
“Yeah. I didn't want you to be homesick and alone. Plus, I found this little bistro up the street and conned them into making soup for me.”
“Let me guess you used the Jensen Ackles charm on them?”
Jensen grinned, “Maybe. I signed a few autographs and took some pictures.”
“I can't believe you came all the way across the country to check on me and bring me soup.”
“You sounded like you needed me here.” He stroked her cheek.
“I'm glad you're here but you were spending time with your family.”
“They understood when I told them you needed me here.”
“I'd kiss you but I don't want you sick. Which reminds me, what are you thinking? You're gonna get sick here with me.”
“It doesn't matter. So do you wanna try to eat or take a nap?”
“I've been sleeping since I got off the phone with you. But I'm still not up to eating. Maybe some juice from room service.”
“Go lay back down and I'll call down for some.”
Jensen spent the next few days helping Alexandra back to health. Luckily for him, he didn't get sick too.
Alexandra drug her feet through the water softly smiling at the memory. But how exactly was she going to make up with him now? She decided maybe the morning would bring more answers.
Jensen was sitting on the couch watching tv. He heard the back porch door open and shut. Her footsteps went up the stairs.
Time always seemed to level her back out. He just had to not bring it up again. But it was getting harder to keep his feelings bottled up. It wasn't fair that she always shut him down when talked about his feelings. Time was coming that he wasn't gonna be able to keep his mouth shut anymore. He was afraid that time was coming soon.
Jensen opened his eyes the next morning to find Alexandra wrapped around him. Normally he would be happy to have her there, but it just reminded him of what happened last night. It was beginning to feel like their life together was a lie. What was he doing there anyway. He was beginning to feel like a long term booty call.
He disentangled himself from her and went downstairs. He made his way to the coffee pot. While the coffee brewed he stood at the sink and stared out the window. He knew this was gonna happen. It was gonna get brought up and everything was gonna implode.
Jensen scraped his hands over his morning scruff and poured himself a cup of coffee. He just had to keep busy or he knew a fight was gonna come. He wasn't sure he could act like nothing was wrong, not anymore. Knowing she didn't feel the same, it killed him.
Before he had a chance to leave the kitchen Alexandra came bouncing in and poured a cup of coffee. She leaned over to give him a kiss and Jensen couldn't help but stiffen up. He watched the confusion cross her face before she cocked her head to look at him.
“Jay, what's wrong?” She brought her hand up to his cheek.
“It's just not a good day Alex.”
“Don't give me that. What's wrong?”
“You don't wanna know.” She lowered her hand slowly.
“Yeah, I do. Jensen, are you mad at me?”
“I'm not mad, I've just realized something. You're never gonna love me like I love you. The future I want, you'll never give me.”
“What are you talking about? You know I love you.”
“Then talk to me about our future.”
“Jensen...” She paused.
“See, right there. That's what I mean. You can't. I'm tired of this song and dance Alexandra. I want a future of , meeting each other's families, moving in together and maybe more. What I can't handle is the “I'm not good in relationships” crap. We've been in one for over a year. Unless you know something I don't.”
“Jensen, there hasn't been anyone else but you. But I can't believe you're bringing this up now.”
“Either can I. We either fix this or I'm done Alex. I can't keep living in the in-between. I love you, but I think we're done.'
“Jensen, don't do this, please.”
“I'm sorry Alex. This is an either or situation. You either love me enough or you don't.”
“So, I fall in line or we're done? That's it? What happened to my thoughts and feelings?”
“I've been living with your thoughts and feelings for over a year. I keep my mouth shut so we don't argue but it's still there in the back of my mind. I'm always so afraid I'm going to lose you because how I feel.”
He watched the tears fall down her face and felt his heart shatter. To know he was the cause of her pain was killing him. He just couldn't do this anymore. They had reached the end.
Jensen blinked away tears and shook his head. “Alex, I love you, but I can't do this anymore.” He walked back upstairs and grabbed his phone.
“Hey Ronnie. I'm gonna be needing a ride to the airport.”
“Sure thing boss. I'll be there in 10 minutes.”
Jensen sat down on the bed and stared at the floor. He couldn't believe he just told Alexandra they were done. He scrubbed his hands over his face wiping away tears before they fell.
He packed his things just in time for his phone to ring. “Jensen I'm here.”
He walked down the stairs and Alexandra stood at the bottom. Her face and eyes were red with tears. “Please don't go.”
“I'm sorry. If I stay, nothing changes. Take care of yourself.” He kissed her on the forehead and walked out the door.
The front door closed and Alexandra dropped to the floor in tears. She just lost the best thing that had ever happened in her life. She heard the car drive away and buried her face in her hands and sobbed.
She must have cried herself to sleep because she woke up on the floor with a horrible headache. Her eyes were swelled and puffy. She didn't know what time it was.
She walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water before trudging upstairs to the bedroom. Once in there, she stopped dead in her tracks. Jensen's side of the bed was glaringly empty. The tears started falling again. She slowly sank down onto her side of the bed staring at the floor. She sat there for few minutes before she grabbed her phone and called her best friend.
“Alex, what's up? Jensen driving you nuts so soon?” Jared answered the phone.
“Jared, he left.” She couldn't help the tears in her voice.
“What do you mean?”
“We're done. He left me”
“Lexi, what happened?”
“I just couldn't do it.”
“You have to give me a little more hon.”
“He wanted a relationship. I just couldn't give it to him. I pushed him away.”
“Oh, Lexi.”
“It's all my fault. JT, what did I do?
“It can all be fixed. Lexi call him.”
“He doesn't want me anymore. I fucked up.”
“He told you that?”
“No but I can read between the lines. I either give him a relationship or we were done.” She cried,“I couldn't do it. What's wrong with me JT?”
“What do you mean, what's wrong with you?
“Why couldn't I give him what he wants? Why couldn't I trust him enough? It's not like I don't love him, I just couldn't give him everything.”
“Lexi, you can't push yourself into something you're not ready for, even if the one you're with wants you to.”
“It just hurts so much. I'm sittin here looking at his side of the bed and it's so empty. I feel so empty.”
“Just give it some time, things will get better.”
“That's a bunch of bullshit Jared. I don't think it's ever gonna get better.”
After dealing with a 5 hour wait at the airport and 7 hours on the plane, by the time he got to Vancouver and back to Clif he was exhausted. He just wanted to be alone.
Jensen figured Clif knew something was wrong because he didn't say a whole lot. He knew he should offer some type of conversation but it just wasn't in him.
When Jensen walked back into his apartment, he threw his bags in the bedroom and went straight for the liquor cabinet. He opened whiskey and drank straight from the bottle. It was looking like he was gonna get drunk and he was gonna pay for it in the morning but he didn't care.
He was right, he was gonna get drunk, and he stayed that way the rest of break. The last night, there was a knock on the door.
Jensen stumbled to the door and opened it. There stood Jared.
“Hey man.” Jared said walking into the apartment.
“Jared, now isn't a good time man.”
“I know, that's why I'm here.”
“Come on man, I'm not gonna talk about this.”
“Then let's watch the game and get drunk. Although it looks like you're ahead of me. Give me time to catch up.”
Jensen sat there and watched the game. He lasted all of an hour.
“What did she tell you?” Jensen asked Jared who was sitting at the other end of the couch.
“Why don't you tell me what happened?”
“There's not much to tell. I just got tired of being a booty call.”
“A booty call?”
“That's all she wants. She doesn't want a relationship. My mom called and mentioned she wanted to meet Alex. I told Alex and she flipped out on me. I'm just tired of it all.”
“Jay, I don't know what to say.”
“I wasted a year on her. And all she did was lead me on.” Jensen took another swig of whiskey. “Why did she lead me on?”
“Jensen, I'm not sure she did.”
“I know, you can't betray her confidence. You know you are willingly putting yourself in the middle of this.”
“I know I am, but I'm not gonna stay out of this if both of you are hurting.”
“I'm not hurting, I'm just pissed. I never should've ended up with her.”
“Jensen, stop. I know you're hurting.”
“Why did she bother with me? She knew what I wanted and she just kept leading me on.” He scrubbed his hands over his face wiping his eyes. “You know what, Fuck Her! I hope whatever she does, she's happy.”
Jensen took a huge drink, feeling the world spinning. The feeling was getting stronger. It wasn't long before the world went black.
The next morning came and Jensen was waking up in his bed. The sun hurt his eyes and his heartbeat was pounding in his head. He groaned and slowly sat up in bed holding his head. The days of being drunk were catching up with him.
It was then he noticed a noise coming from the living room. He slowly stood and walked that way to find Jared's long legs hanging off the edge of his couch. The way his neck was bent explained the horrible snoring that was permeating the whole apartment.
Jensen took one look at the empty bottle of whiskey laying on the floor and shivered. Looks like he won't be drinking for a while. He could still taste it on his tongue. Holding his head in his hand, he walked to the kitchen to make coffee. He felt like he was gonna need it.
When he came out of the kitchen Jared was sitting up on the couch yawning.
“Morning sunshine.” He replied.
“Yeah, morning.” Jensen answered sitting down in a chair.
“How are you feeling?”
“Like shit. Why did you let me drink so much?”
“Hey, you were well on your way to being drunk when I showed up. You were dead set on getting drunk so I just let you go. Judging the amount of bottles in your trash, you've been drunk for days.”
“Yeah, It was just easier that way.”
“Jensen, it will get easier, just got to give it some time.”
“Oh give me a break. The whole time heals all crap.”
“It may be crap but it's true.”
“Whatever. It's over and done. Time to move on. Besides work starts back up tomorrow, I won't have time to think about this shit.”
The next few weeks were all pretty much the same. Jensen went to work, came home and went to bed. But what wasn't the same was the fact that he caught himself trying to call Alexandra like normal. He'd always stop himself before he tapped the last number. It had never occurred to him before how ingrained she was in his life. Now he had to work on getting her out of his life, and out of his mind. The weekends were the hardest. For the last year he had spent most of the time on the phone with her.
Truth be told, God he missed her. He missed the way she used to watch him before leaning in to kiss him, or the way she would curl against him at night. He missed the way she felt in his arms and the sounds she would make when they made love.
As mad as he was, he just couldn't make himself hate her. It was hard enough to stay mad at her. But after everything he had been fooling himself into believing she was there for anything but the sex. How could he have been so stupid to fall for it?
Alexandra flew home and threw herself back into work. Even though she had comp time, she spoke to her parents and got it pushed back until a later date. She worked from sun up to sun down every day, including weekends, but nothing helped. She kept expecting calls from Jensen that never came. As time went on she missed him more and more.
Jared would call her every few days to check up on her and as tempting as it was, she just couldn't bring herself to ask about Jensen. She knew Jared was purposefully keeping him out of conversation and she appreciated it. But it was getting to the point she didn't want to answer the phone when Jared called because it was a last link to Jensen.
Convention weekend was upon them once again. It was another marathon event for them to run. Jared met Jensen at the SUV for the ride to the airport.
“Ready for another weekend?” Jared smiled.
“Actually I am. I need the distraction. I'm gonna have fun whether I want to or not.”
When they boarded the plane Jensen sat down and stared out the window. He couldn't help but think about this convention, one year ago this was when he first met Alexandra. Nothing over these past few weeks had helped him get over her. He still tortured himself looking back at those pictures she had sent him on set.
Jared tried to engage Jensen in conversation but he just couldn't bring himself to talk. The one year anniversary was something he couldn't get past. He just hoped he could fake cheerfulness during the panels.
Thankfully he was an actor, he was able to fake his way through the meet and greets. The panels were easier because Jared was there to do most of the talking. By the end of the weekend, Jensen was exhausted.
When they said goodbye to the fans, they both made their way up to their floors. The feeling of melancholy was returning with a vengeance. Now that their obligation was over, there was no need to keep with the fake happiness. Not that he was normally fake around fans but this time he just couldn't give them authenticity.
He went back to his hotel room and dropped down on the bed. He pulled his phone out and started to dial Alexandra's number. His finger hovered over the send button. But he threw his phone on the bed before scraping his hands over his face. He had hoped he would somehow see her there. Part of him was relieved she hadn't showed up.
The thought had no more than left his mind when someone knocked on his door. He thought it was Jared trying to get him to go out to dinner. But he wasn't in the mood.
He opened the door and there stood Alexandra. Jensen felt his heart drop in his chest.
“Alex, what are you doing here?”
“We need to talk.”
“We said all we need to say.”
“No, you said all you needed to say.”
“What else is there?” He asked watching her.
“Jensen, just let me in. I don't think you wanna do this in the hallway.”
“Fine, you've got 5 minutes.”
Jensen stepped away from the door to let Alexandra in. She came into the room and stood just a few feet inside the door. He could see she was shaking and wanted to scoop her into his arms. But he knew he couldn't touch her or he'd never walk away from her again. As it was, he was losing the fight against being angry with her.
“Jensen, I thought of all the things I could say to you. I even had a speech outlined in my head. Now standing here looking at you, it's all gone.”
“Well you better figure out something to say, or your 5 minutes will be wasted. I'm sure you didn't come here to stare at me.”
He knew he was sounding like a dick but he couldn't stop himself. He had to keep her at arms length. He watched her bottom lip quiver and felt like shit. Even he couldn't be this mean. She closed her eyes as a tear slid down her cheek.
“I don't know what's wrong with me. This is what I do. I find someone who is a great person and I just ruin it. I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you.”
“Alex, I know you're sorry. What more is there to say?”
“Jensen, I still love you.”
“Don't start that. This has nothing to do with love.”
“It has everything to do with love. I want what we had back.”
“There's no way. Look, I know I said I'd give you 5 minutes but all we are doing is rehashing everything that's already been said.”
“How can you act so cold toward me? You don't feel the same, do you?”
“Don't ask me that. Nothing either one of us does will be able to fix this. It's time we move on.”
Alexandra dropped her head in her hands crying. Jensen felt like an asshole. In trying to protect himself, he made her cry. It was taking everything in him to stay on the other side of the room from her.
“Alex, stop crying, please, just stop.”
She wiped her eyes trying to keep more tears from falling. “You said I never loved you like you loved me and now look at you. It didn't take long for you to get over me.”
“What am I supposed to do? Alex, we broke up.”
“I've been punishing myself about this for weeks. About how I hurt you and for not loving you enough. But you're right, it's time to move on. If you loved me that much you would still be hurting like me. This was a wasted trip.”
Alexandra turned away and Jensen took a few strides to the door slamming his hand on the door to keep it closed. Startled, she turned around to look at him. Her back was against the door and she was looking up at him with wide eyes.
“Jensen..”
“Don't ever doubt that I love you. I just can't be a booty call anymore.”
“What the hell are you talking about. You were never a booty call.”
“Then what do you call it. We weren't in a relationship but we sure spent a lot of time in the bedroom though.”
“You seriously think that's all I wanted? Jensen I wanted you. I still want you.”
“We can't work, not like that.”
Alexandra framed his face in her hands. “I want you to listen to me. I love you and I want you in my life.”
“There's only one way that would happen.” She dropped her hands.
“Jensen, I want you as my boyfriend. I want a relationship.”
“Don't just tell me what I want to hear.”
“I'm not. I've had time to think it over and I've realized that I'm so much better with you. I want you in my life. But if you don't feel the same way anymore, then I guess I should leave.”
“I never said I didn't feel the same way. But you can't just tell me what I want to hear. I'm not falling back into that again.”
“Do you still love me?”
“Alex... I...”
“Tell me the truth. Do you?”
“I've never stopped. I miss you everyday.”
I miss you too. I want us back.”
“I don't know.”
“I have to be honest though. I want a relationship with you but there are still somethings I am still leery of.”
“Such as?”
“I don't mind 'boyfriend' or 'significant other' or any other label you want to put on it. But I'm still not ready for parents yet.”
“What about being together in public?”
“We can be together in public. I'm so sorry I've hurt you with my indecision.”
“Stop telling me you're sorry. I know you are. But I don't know if we can do this.”
“You still love me, I love you. What is there to figure out?”
“So, a relationship, huh?”
“Yeah, a relationship. I'm going all in. What about you?”
“I hope we don't regret this, but I'm all in too.”
He leaned down softly kissing her. Pressing her against the door he deepened the kiss. His tongue licked along the seam of her lips and she opened for him. His hands slid down along her hips and around to her ass. His fingers dug in and he lifted her up, allowing her to wrap her legs around his waist.
“Jensen, wait.”
“What?”
She patted him on the chest. “Weren't you the one who just said you weren't gonna be a booty call? What are we doing here?”
“This? We're making up. And not to mention I have this big comfy bed that's just begging to be used.” He grinned.
“Fine, then take your girlfriend to bed.”
“I like the sound of that.” He kissed her again.
She laughed as he spun around and walked across the room.

Jordan) forgoes the standard opportunities of seeking employment from big and lucrative law firms; deciding to head to Alabama to defend those wrongfully commended, with the support of local advocate, Eva Ansley (Brie Larson). One of his first, and most poignant, case is that of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx, who, in 62, was sentenced to die for the notorious murder of an 2-year-old girl in the community, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence and one singular testimony against him by an individual that doesn’t quite seem to add up. Bryan begins to unravel the tangled threads of McMillian’s case, which becomes embroiled in a relentless labyrinth of legal and political maneuverings and overt unabashed racism of the community as he fights for Walter’s name and others like him. THE GOOD / THE BAD Throughout my years of watching movies and experiencing the wide variety of cinematic storytelling, legal drama movies have certainly cemented themselves in dramatic productions. As I stated above, some have better longevity of being remembered, but most showcase plenty of heated courtroom battles of lawyers defending their clients and unmasking the truth behind the claims (be it wrongfully incarcerated, discovering who did it, or uncovering the shady dealings behind large corporations. Perhaps my first one legal drama was 624’s The Client (I was little young to get all the legality in the movie, but was still managed to get the gist of it all). My second one, which I loved, was probably Primal Fear, with Norton delivering my favorite character role. Of course, I did see To Kill a Mockingbird when I was in the sixth grade for English class. Definitely quite a powerful film. And, of course, let’s not forget Philadelphia and want it meant / stand for. Plus, Hanks and Washington were great in the film. All in all, while not the most popular genre out there, legal drama films still provide a plethora of dramatic storytelling to capture the attention of moviegoers of truth and lies within a dubious justice. Just Mercy is the latest legal crime drama feature and the whole purpose of this movie review. To be honest, I really didn’t much “buzz” about this movie when it was first announced (circa 206) when Broad Green Productions hired the film’s director (Cretton) and actor Michael B. Jordan in the lead role. It was then eventually bought by Warner Bros (the films rights) when Broad Green Productions went Bankrupt. So, I really didn’t hear much about the film until I saw the movie trailer for Just Mercy, which did prove to be quite an interesting tale. Sure, it sort of looked like the generic “legal drama” yarn (judging from the trailer alone), but I was intrigued by it, especially with the film starring Jordan as well as actor Jamie Foxx. I did repeatedly keep on seeing the trailer for the film every time I went to my local movie theater (usually attached to any movie I was seeing with a PG rating and above). So, suffice to say, that Just Mercy’s trailer preview sort of kept me invested and waiting me to see it. Thus, I finally got the chance to see the feature a couple of days ago and I’m ready to share my thoughts on the film. And what are they? Well, good ones….to say the least. While the movie does struggle within the standard framework of similar projects, Just Mercy is a solid legal drama that has plenty of fine cinematic nuances and great performances from its leads. It’s not the “be all to end all” of legal drama endeavors, but its still manages to be more of the favorable motion pictures of these projects. Just Mercy is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, whose previous directorial works includes such movies like Short Term 6, I Am Not a Hipster, and Glass Castle. Given his past projects (consisting of shorts, documentaries, and a few theatrical motion pictures), Cretton makes Just Mercy is most ambitious endeavor, with the director getting the chance to flex his directorial muscles on a legal drama film, which (like I said above) can manage to evoke plenty of human emotions within its undertaking. Thankfully, Cretton is up to the task and never feels overwhelmed with the movie; approaching (and shaping) the film with respect and a touch of sincerity by speaking to the humanity within its characters, especially within lead characters of Stevenson and McMillian. Of course, legal dramas usually do (be the accused / defendant and his attorney) shine their cinematic lens on these respective characters, so it’s nothing original. However, Cretton does make for a compelling drama within the feature; speaking to some great character drama within its two main lead characters; staging plenty of moments of these twos individuals that ultimately work, including some of the heated courtroom sequences. Like other recent movies (i.e. Brian Banks and The Hate U Give), Cretton makes Just Mercy have an underlining thematical message of racism and corruption that continues to play a part in the US….to this day (incredibly sad, but true). So, of course, the correlation and overall relatively between the movie’s narrative and today’s world is quite crystal-clear right from the get-go, but Cretton never gets overzealous / preachy within its context; allowing the feature to present the subject matter in a timely manner and doesn’t feel like unnecessary or intentionally a “sign of the times” motif. Additionally, the movie also highlights the frustration (almost harsh) injustice of the underprivileged face on a regular basis (most notable those looking to overturn their cases on death row due to negligence and wrongfully accused). Naturally, as somewhat expected (yet still palpable), Just Mercy is a movie about seeking the truth and uncovering corruption in the face of a broken system and ignorant prejudice, with Cretton never shying away from some of the ugly truths that Stevenson faced during the film’s story. Plus, as a side-note, it’s quite admirable for what Bryan Stevenson (the real-life individual) did for his career, with him as well as others that have supported him (and the Equal Justice Initiative) over the years and how he fought for and freed many wrongfully incarcerated individuals that our justice system has failed (again, the poignancy behind the film’s themes / message). It’s great to see humanity being shined and showcased to seek the rights of the wronged and to dispel a flawed system. Thus, whether you like the movie or not, you simply can not deny that truly meaningful job that Bryan Stevenson is doing, which Cretton helps demonstrate in Just Mercy. From the bottom of my heart…. thank you, Mr. Stevenson. In terms of presentation, Just Mercy is a solidly made feature film. Granted, the film probably won’t be remembered for its visual background and theatrical setting nuances or even nominated in various award categories (for presentation / visual appearance), but the film certainly looks pleasing to the eye, with the attention of background aspects appropriate to the movie’s story. Thus, all the usual areas that I mention in this section (i.e. production design, set decorations, costumes, and cinematography) are all good and meet the industry standard for legal drama motion pictures. That being said, the film’s score, which was done by Joel P. West, is quite good and deliver some emotionally drama pieces in a subtle way that harmonizes with many of the feature’s scenes. There are a few problems that I noticed with Just Mercy that, while not completely derailing, just seem to hold the feature back from reaching its full creative cinematic potential. Let’s start with the most prevalent point of criticism (the one that many will criticize about), which is the overall conventional storytelling of the movie. What do I mean? Well, despite the strong case that the film delves into a “based on a true story” aspect and into some pretty wholesome emotional drama, the movie is still structed into a way that it makes it feel vaguely formulaic to the touch. That’s not to say that Just Mercy is a generic tale to be told as the film’s narrative is still quite engaging (with some great acting), but the story being told follows quite a predictable path from start to finish. Granted, I never really read Stevenson’s memoir nor read anything about McMillian’s case, but then I still could easily figure out how the movie was presumably gonna end…. even if the there were narrative problems / setbacks along the way. Basically, if you’ve seeing any legal drama endeavor out there, you’ll get that same formulaic touch with this movie. I kind of wanted see something a little bit different from the film’s structure, but the movie just ends up following the standard narrative beats (and progressions) of the genre. That being said, I still think that this movie is definitely probably one of the better legal dramas out there. This also applies to the film’s script, which was penned by Cretton and Andrew Lanham, which does give plenty of solid entertainment narrative pieces throughout, but lacks the finesse of breaking the mold of the standard legal drama. There are also a couple parts of the movie’s script handling where you can tell that what was true and what fictional. Of course, this is somewhat a customary point of criticism with cinematic tales taking a certain “poetic license” when adapting a “based on a true story” narrative, so it’s not super heavily critical point with me as I expect this to happen. However, there were a few times I could certainly tell what actually happen and what was a tad bit fabricated for the movie. Plus, they were certain parts of the narrative that could’ve easily fleshed out, including what Morrison’s parents felt (and actually show them) during this whole process. Again, not a big deal-breaker, but it did take me out of the movie a few times. Lastly, the film’s script also focuses its light on a supporting character in the movie and, while this made with well-intention to flesh out the character, the camera spotlight on this character sort of goes off on a slight tangent during the feature’s second act. Basically, this storyline could’ve been removed from Just Mercy and still achieve the same palpability in the emotional department. It’s almost like the movie needed to chew up someLa Navidad mágica de los Jangletime and the writers to decided to fill up the time with this side-story. Again, it’s good, but a bit slightly unnecessary. What does help overlook (and elevate) some of these criticisms is the film’s cast, which are really good and definitely helps bring these various characters to life in a theatrical /dramatic way. Leading the charge in Just Mercy is actor Michael B. Jordan, who plays the film’s central protagonist role of Bryan Stevenson. Known for his roles in Creed, Fruitvale Station, and Black Panther, Jordan has certain prove himself to be quite a capable actor, with the actor rising to stardom over the past few years. This is most apparent in this movie, with Jordan making a strong characteristically portrayal as Bryan; showcasing plenty of underlining determination and compelling humanity in his character as he (as Bryan Stevenson) fights for the injustice of those who’s voices have been silenced or dismissed because of the circumstances. It’s definitely a strong character built and Jordan seems quite capable to task in creating a well-acted on-screen performance of Bryan. Behind Jordan is actor Jamie Foxx, who plays the other main lead in the role, Walter McMillian. Foxx, known for his roles in Baby Driver, Django Unchained, and Ray, has certainly been recognized as a talented actor, with plenty of credible roles under his belt. His participation in Just Mercy is another well-acted performance that deserve much praise as its getting (even receiving an Oscar nod for it), with Foxx portraying Walter with enough remorseful grit and humility that makes the character quite compelling to watch. Plus, seeing him and Jordan together in a scene is quite palpable and a joy to watch. The last of the three marquee main leads of the movie is the character of Eva Ansley, the director of operations for EJI (i.e. Stevenson’s right-handed employee / business partner), who is played by actress Brie Larson. Up against the characters of Stevenson and McMillian, Ansley is the weaker of the three main lead; presented as supporting player in the movie, which is perfectly fine as the characters gets the job done (sort of speak) throughout the film’s narrative. However, Larson, known for her roles in Room, 6 Jump Street, and Captain Marvel, makes less of an impact in the role. Her acting is fine and everything works in her portrayal of Eva, but nothing really stands in her performance (again, considering Jordan and Foxx’s performances) and really could’ve been played by another actress and achieved the same goal. The rest of the cast, including actor Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk and O Brother, Where Art Thou) as incarcerated inmate Ralph Meyers, actor Rafe Spall (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and The Big Short) as legal attorney Tommy Champan, actress Karan Kendrick (The Hate U Give and Family) as Minnie McMillan, Walter’s wife, actor C.J. LeBlanc (Arsenal and School Spirts) as Walter’s son, John McMillian, actor Rob Morgan (Stranger Things and Mudbound) as death role inmate Herbert Richardson, actor O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Long Shot and Straight Outta Compton) as death role inmate Anthony “Ray” Hinton, actor Michael Harding (Triple 2 and The Young and the Restless) as Sheriff Tate, and actor Hayes Mercure (The Red Road and Mercy Street) as a prison guard named Jeremy, are in the small supporting cast variety. Of course, some have bigger roles than others, but all of these players, which are all acted well, bolster the film’s story within the performances and involvement in Just Mercy’s narrative. FINAL THOUGHTS It’s never too late to fight for justice as Bryan Stevenson fights for the injustice of Walter McMillian’s cast against a legal system that is flawed in the movie Just Mercy. Director Destin Daniel Cretton’s latest film takes a stance on a poignant case; demonstrating the injustice of one (and by extension those wrongfully incarcerated) and wrapping it up in a compelling cinematic story. While the movie does struggle within its standard structure framework (a sort of usual problem with “based on a true story” narrations) as well as some formulaic beats, the movie still manages to rise above those challenges (for the most part), especially thanks to Cretton’s direction (shaping and storytelling) and some great performances all around (most notable in Jordan and Foxx). Personally, I liked this movie. Sure, it definitely had its problem, but those didn’t distract me much from thoroughly enjoying this legal drama feature. Thus, my recommendation for the film is a solid “recommended”, especially those who liked the cast and poignant narratives of legality struggles and the injustice of a failed system / racism. In the end, while the movie isn’t the quintessential legal drama motion picture and doesn’t push the envelope in cinematic innovation, Just Mercy still is able to manage to be a compelling drama that’s powerful in its story, meaningful in its journey, and strong within its statement. Just like Bryan Stevenson says in the movie….” If we could look at ourselves closely…. we can change this world for the better”. Amen to that!

15x05: Proverbs 17:3
Then:
Tumblr media
I’m not crying, you’re crying!
Now:
(weeping in corner ---this is Steve Yockey’s last episode)
Black Forest, Colorado
Three young women on a Pinterest inspired LL Bean photoshoot getaway, toast to friendship and good times. Now that they’re done with college, two of them have found jobs and are on their way to subverting the new world order of underemployment. Ashley, the other friend, will be driving for Uber.
Tumblr media
They all hear a noise outside the tent. Julie goes for more rum and gets yanked. The other one tries closing the tent but is also yanked. Cue Ashley’s screams!
At the bunker, Sam checks his messages to Cas. He’s been texting and texting but hasn’t heard anything back. I am emotional. Dean is going to bury that shit and not even tell his brother what happened? ARGH. Sam hides his phone pretty quick so it’s obvious that he knows something isn’t right --and he doesn’t needle his brother about it so he knows something REALLY isn’t right.
Dean’s back from a supply run and is back on his overcompensating with food bullshit. He eats a ghost pepper jerky bite and instantly regrets it. On the plus side, we get this:
Tumblr media
Anyway, they’ve got a case.
*Dream Vision Alert*
Lucifer!Sam sits at a table in the bunker. Dean approaches from behind, draws the Colt, asks for forgiveness, and shoots Sam in the back of the head. Lucifer!Sam doesn’t die though. The wound heals and his eyes glow red. Lucifer!Sam scoffs at the idea that the Colt would kill him, adding, “we both knew it had to end this way.” Then fire consumes Dean.
Sam wakes in the Impala. Dean wants to know what’s up but Sam will only admit to a bad dream.
They reach Colorado and instead of their usual routine, Dean pulls out some old school tricks: Fish and Wildlife agents. They were babies! (But this is also just such a nice way to show HOW MUCH Sam and Dean have changed over the years. The story Chuck was telling in season one has changed so much --they are not the same anymore. And while Dean continues to repress his current issues (ala Cas), it’s clear that he’s not the same.)
They go in and talk with the sheriff.
Tumblr media
(Also, this is yet another week using an actor that has been in a previous episode of Supernatural. I realize this does happen, but this actress played Tara, the hunter that helped Dean and Crowley find Cain and the First Blade--and the Mark of Cain.)
The sheriff doesn’t think these attacks are animal in nature. There’s one witness they can talk to. They head to the hospital to talk with her. They ask what she remembers. She flashes back to the forest. She’s running and a man/monster is chasing her. She’s reluctant to talk, but Dean assures her that they’ve heard it all. The man that killed her friends had claws and fangs. A werewolf. Dean tells the poor girl that monsters and werewolves are all real.
Dean gets a name. Sam points out that it wasn’t a full moon the night Ashley was attacked (Dean suggests pureblood), and Sam sets off to find an address.
They head to a cabin in the woods where Andy, the werewolf, lives with his brother, Josh. They’re isolated, reluctant to have visitors, don’t have a phone. Just as God intended. Sam and Dean leave.
Josh yells at Andy for not killing Ashley. I’m just loling all over the place. This melodramatic crazy is TOO much. Family of werewolves that hunt people. Their dad’s dead but it’s the family business. Reluctant younger brother...
Tumblr media
The brothers check in at the Sleepy Bear Inn. (Have we mentioned HOW MUCH WE LOVE JERRY WANEK? It’s true!)
They’ve got Ashley under their protection. They need to go take care of “the lumberjack twins.” Sam wonders why this whole case seems too easy. Lololol. Ashley asks the brothers to stay with her until she falls asleep. Meanwhile, Andy and Josh are outside the motel ready to kill her.
Dean and Ashley talk about hunting. Dean says he likes his job --helping people. She asks if he ever wanted to be anything else: Jimi Hendrix. He says that so quickly. It breaks me a bit. But then he toes the company line. Ashley wondering how great life would be if it was all planned out. That makes Dean turn a little green. Poor bby.
Sam wakes Sleeping Beauty - I mean, Dean. He zonked out while Sam headed out to get food and while he was sleeping, Ashley disappeared.
Tumblr media
Cut to Ashley who is astonishingly NOT DEAD YET. She’s tied up in a bloody slaughter room, though. The two werewolf bros burst in, mid argument. “This isn’t who we are,” Andy protests, his pure white, tucked-in sweater standing out sharply against the ACTUAL BLOOD SPATTERED WALL. (Like, seriously, guys. Get a cleaning service, at least. That can’t be sanitary.)
“This is exactly who we are,” Josh growls. Hoooo-boy.
Tumblr media
Dean and Sam race back to the cabin and quickly follow Ashley’s screams to the slaughter room. Their approach causes the werewolves to scamper, but not very far. As they attempt to escape, the Winchesters and Ashley get ambushed in the main room. The two werewolves get the upper hand on Dean and Sam, and the werewolf with a taste for human flesh closes in on Dean, snarling. Andy picks up Dean’s dropped gun and points it at Sam. He stares between Sam and Josh in agony.
Tumblr media
Andy shoots and kills his brother. “He turned into a monster,” Andy explains tearfully. And I’m a monster too.” He turns the gun on himself, killing himself with one quick shot to the heart. (Jeez, always the heart in this season. It’s almost like it’s an important metaphor or something.)
“That was weird,” Dean says which is like a total UNDERSTATEMENT… But that doesn’t even come close to what happens next. Dean tries to comfort Ashley, who pushes away and…
Tumblr media
…trips and falls right onto the antlers. BOOM. Ashley’s dead. Sam, Dean, and pretty much every single one of us viewers stares at Ashley’s body in shock and confusion. That’s…not…normal. Also, this episode is only half over. WTF?
“Well, this is a bitch,” Ashley grumbles, opening her eyes and standing up, still impaled. She cheerfully flashes her eyes white at Sam. She’s LILITH, baby!
Tumblr media
Lilith has clearly never made friends with the phrase “Loose lips sink ships” because she spills E V E R Y T H I N G. Chuck pulled her out of the Empty (where she was dead as a demon doornail), gave her instructions to seduce Dean post-rescue, told her to show Sam and Dean the werewolf murder/sacrifice mirror, and sent her to retrieve the magic gun: Ye Olde Equalizer.
The Winchesters try to fight Lilith, but she blasts them into the walls, knocking Sam out. Dean promises Lilith the gun as long as Sam’s okay. Same old song and dance, my friends. But now we get the feeling that Dean’s SEEING THE SCRIPT even while he’s still feeling utterly trapped by it.
Sam has another vision while he’s power healing through his latest concussion. This time, Dean’s out to kill a human Sam. Dean, under the influence of the Mark of Cain, murders his brother with the first blade. When Sam wakes, the cabin is empty.
Tumblr media
In the Impala, Lilith is sitting about two feet away from the equalizer gun - still hidden in the glove box- and amusedly answers Dean’s questions. She’s massively irked that she’s back on Earth as part of Chuck’s latest story…when the story she THOUGHT her death was integral to was foiled by the Winchesters. It’s adding insult to injury, man. “Wouldn’t it be great if everything was just planned out for you?” she repeats and then laughs right in Dean’s face. Chuck fed her that line directly.
Lilith chirpily comments on Chuck’s storytelling propensity and his hamfisted werewolf brother foreshadowing. “It always ends the same,” she tells Dean. “One brother killing the other.”
Back at the motel, I am still UTTERLY DAMN CHARMED at the Wanek crew’s amazing work on this room.
For Please Come Decorate My House Science:
Tumblr media
Dean tells Lilith that she’ll NEVER get the gun and she starts to slice him bit by bit. It’s the death of a thousand cuts!
Tumblr media
Sam breaks in and shoots Lilith in the forehead without another word. He traps her in place with a devil’s trap bullet. “I’ve got you now, my pretty!” Sam should have shouted (but didn’t). What he does do is threaten to kill her. Lilith gets pissed at this. Like, EXCUSE HER VERY MUCH, but she’s a total badass who LET Sam kill her back in season four. Don’t mess with her!
The Winchesters flee but don’t even make it past the parking lot. Lilith zaps out to meet them. Where’s the gun??? She reasons it out, and concludes that the gun is clearly in the Impala. (Clears throat… The most important car in the universe!?) Lilith finds the equalizer pretty much right away and laughs at how damn easy it was. Which...yeah.
“We’ll get it back,” Sam snarls and without further ado, Lilith melts the heck out of the gun. Now it’s just a cooling black pool against the asphalt. Oooooookay. Plan...X?
Tumblr media
Back at the bunker, the boys fortify themselves with liquor. Sam leaves ANOTHER voicemail for Cas. (Pardon me while I take a short break to weep and rend my clothing.) “We gave him the head’s up on Chuck and Lilith,” Dean says. “What else are we supposed to do?” Oh, I don’t know. Probably apologize? Tell him you love him and value him as a person. That sort of thing.
Tumblr media
Dean’s pretty shattered at the revelation that Chuck’s still pulling their strings. Thanks to Lilith, he understands that Chuck wants an ending where one of them kills the other. Sam immediately ties this into the dreams he’s been having. “You’re just telling me this, NOW?” Dean asks. And…I think that reaction is justified. Sam speculates that his equalizer wound is showing him Chuck’s endings and MAYBE a slice of Chuck’s mind.
“This was supposed to be over,” Dean says in response. “Are we just gonna keep running in this friggin’ hamster wheel until we die? Or we get boring and he ends us?” I’m laughing at the direct commentary on how TV shows live and die but also...DEAN BBY.
Sam thinks they can fight. Dean wants to know how the hell they’re supposed to FIGHT GOD.
Tumblr media

Why Fright Night is the Best Vampire Movie Ever Made - 05/21/2020
You may have noticed that vampires just may be my favorite subgenre of horror to watch. So, I don’t say this lightly when I say that I believe that Fright Night is quite possibly the greatest and best vampire movie ever made. A strong claim, I know, so I must also say that Fright Night is the best one that I have ever seen while also fully admitting that I have not seen every vampire movie ever made in existence. I can however confidently say that I have seen all the great classics of the genre, and in my opinion Fright Night stands above the rest of them in terms of story, effects, soundtrack, and characters.
Made in 1985 and expertly written and directed by Tom Holland, the story of Fright Night contains what I believe to be the perfect structure of any classic vampire story: A vampire (with an unassuming name of Jerry Dandridge) moves in next door, our young hero Charlie Brewster (played by William Ragsdale) discovers the vampire’s secret, the young hero makes themselves a target and seeks the help of an expert, and then lastly the hero and expert face off against the evil vampire for one big final climatic confrontation. Add all of those together for your story, and you have Fright Night.
This is a story that works so well, they repeated it almost exactly in the next three Fright Night movies, and two of those were remakes. Since this particular story structure works so well, those movies actually turned out to be pretty damn entertaining to watch all on their own. I recommend them. Seriously, there is not a weak movie in this entire series, which is pretty rare for a horror franchise, and even rarer for remakes. That’s just how much this entire story structure is a joy to watch for vampire fans.
Fright Night also boasts some of the best practical effects work of the 80’s that continue to stand up today. There’s just something about the use of good practical effects versus the use of CGI that make a movie that much more immersive for the viewer, and the use of the effects in Fright Night really help to make the movie that much more believable and fun to watch. My favorite example of this has to be when they kill the main vampire’s minion and familiar Billy, who must be some type of ghoul or golem considering the way that he dies shows that he is clearly not a human. The melting of his body and decomposing of his bones is beautiful to watch knowing that the effects were all done practically.
Fright Night also is one of the first films to give its vampires monstrous faces instead of just plain old fangs, so the viewer never forgets that these charming and sexy creatures are truly monsters at heart that should be feared. The vampire mouth effect used on Amy was a last-minute decision and prosthetic that they made turned out great for the promotion of the film, since that is the image that is prominently displayed on the great poster for the film. The 80’s gave us some great horror movie posters, and Fright Night is truly one of the best ones among them. One look at it, and you can tell exactly what this movie is all about.
The soundtrack for Fright Night also has some great 80’s sound throughout it. The dance scene at the nightclub showcases some of the best music in the whole movie. It’s also a universal law that almost every vampire movie needs a dance scene at a nightclub. This one does a fantastic job of setting the tone of the scene by having Jerry using his vampire mojo to seduce the young and virginal Amy while some of the best 80’s synth and pop sounds are playing. Jerry even plays some pretty pimping music later when he’s getting ready to seduce and bite Amy. You got to love a villain who plays his own soundtrack.
Speaking of Jerry, he is played to absolute perfection by Chris Sarandon who is most well-known for his roles in The Princess Bride and Child’s Play. He’s perfectly charming, well-dressed, sexy, and completely in love with being evil. This is not a tortured vampire who hates the curse of what he has become. He relishes in his predatory instincts to hunt and kill. When he sees something he wants, he goes after it and won't let anyone get in his way. He knows he’s the apex predator, and as such, he has no fear of the boy Charlie who discovers his secret, or the actor vampire hunter Peter Vincent that Charlie turns to for help.
Peter Vincent is also the best and most memorable character in the movie, played by Roddy Mcdowall. At the start of the movie, he’s just a classic horror movie host and actor who used to star in a bunch of B films as a vampire killer, similar to the famous Van Helsing from Dracula. A clear reference to when the role of Van Helsing was played by Peter Cushing in the Hammer films. He now hosts the horror program Fright Night, where the film gets its title from. Charlie just so happens to be a big fan of the program, so when he discovers that a real-life vampire has moved in next door to him, he seeks out the help of the horror host for slaying the beast.
Peter Vincent shows great character development while first being in denial that a real vampire actually exists, to then being scared out of his mind, and then facing his fear and letting himself become the character for real that he played for so long. In many ways, it is the character of Peter Vincent who undergoes the classic hero’s journey tale that many classic stories use instead of the main character of Charlie Brewster. There are many moments where Peter Vincent summons the strength to face his fears and to continue on in his mission to slay the evil Jerry Dandridge, slowly becoming more and more like the character that he has only just played for so long. Make no mistake about it, the faceoff between Peter Vincent and Jerry Dandridge is the one element that completely makes the film a superior work of the genre.
I also have to mention Charlie’s best friend Evil Ed played by Stephen Geoffreys. He’s the first person that Charlie turns to for advice on dealing with the vampire next door and is played delightfully somewhat over the top. He’s a very loud personality and is a great supporting character who suffers tragic circumstances later in the film. Jerry eventually turns him into a vampire, and when Evil Ed is finally slain by Peter Vincent, he suffers one of the longest and most drawn out deaths in the movie. That doesn’t stop the character though from providing us with a little stinger at the end of the movie using one of his iconic lines from earlier to end the movie with.
The biggest thing I find that Fright Night has whenever I rewatch it is that it has practically everything that you could ask for a vampire movie to give you... Fantastic practical effects: Check. A great cast of characters: Check. Sexy love scenes: Check. A soundtrack that sets the perfect mood: Check. A strong, sexy, and powerful main vampire bad guy: Check, check, and check. It has all of that to go along with a great and satisfying story that can be appreciated by anyone at any age. I rewatch it more than a few times a year and will continue to do so. I can’t say that it’s my top favorite vampire movie to watch, since that’s a personal choice that can change depending on my mood for that particular day. I can confidently say however that it is in my mind and in my view the best vampire movie ever made... for now. I am of course always looking forward the next vampire movie that’s yet to be released just right around the corner.

I’m thinking of starting a blog soon! So uh- if you can answer, if the axis and allies were to go to a fine arts school, what would they do/major in? Thank you! Keep up the good work!
Hell yeah!!! Welcome to the club, bucko!
China: Yao would be a piano master! He takes multiple classes for piano and flute! And he plays the harp too but his heart will always belong to the piano. He takes public speaking classes cause he isn’t the best at it and he learns Chinese instruments with his mom at home :) the way he performs always leaves people in awe, his expressions and the way he plays makes the whole experience magical!! His teachers adore him!
Russia: Ivan is a dancer, watch out man cause he’ll crush your head with his thighs. He’s super tall and strong so he gets the male lead most of the time for ballet performances put on by the school! Cause he lifts his partner so easily and just...glides around that stage! Ivan looks great in sequins and cakey stage makeup :) and he takes very good care of himself, he’s got a *self care* routine that every other dancer at the school is jealous of. He doesn’t talk much cause he doesn’t see the need when he can just express himself through dance! Ivan can do the splits...He enjoys dropping into the splits at home or in the hall at school to freak out his friends and sisters
America: Alfred wants to be a comedian so he’s taking a bunch of theater, public speaking and improv classes! When he’s on stage, he owns it! And he can do a handful of accents! Al’s great at comedic storytelling and takes a LOT of inspiration from Jerry Seinfeld and John Mulaney. He watches their shows/performances and makes notes on them! He’s done multiple assignments on them too so at this point, Al’s teachers know as much about Jerry and John as Al does...RIP
England: Artie wanted to be a musician and came to this performing arts school to learn different instruments like guitar or drums but when he grew out of his punk phase in 10th grade, he realized he wanted to be a writer! So he’s taking theater classes and advanced English/poetry classes to learn as much as he can before being spat back out into the real world to fend for himself. He writes a lot of love poems and then burns them in his fireplace at home cause he believes they’re not good enough. Alfred did a comedy sketch about him once, mocking his accent, and Art threatened to beat him up behind Denny’s at 2am
Canada: Mattie wants to SCULPT!!! Let’s hear if for art bois!!! People expect him to be funny like Al cause they’re twins but Matt just wants to listen to Tessa Violet and sculpt pretty ladies out of wood...That’s all he wants to do :( he takes painting classes and a lot of business related classes cause if he’s gonna sell his art, he wants to know how money works cause it ain’t like anyone else is gonna teach him! He also enjoys widdling and will widdle things out of soap if you ask nicely and buy him a cookie from the lunchroom! His favorite thing to make outta soap are boots “cause you don’t expect soap to be shapes like shoes!”...Nerd
France: Francis has hopped from thing to thing many times! He came to the school for ballet, and continues to take ballet classes, but he found out how much he loved to paint after messing around during tech week for the school’s Big Spring Production as he helped paint the backdrops. So he’s conflicted. He’s been dancing since he was young but he’s found something else he loves! Oh how sad! Fran’s a big drama queen but he’s got such a diverse circle of friends: the writers, actors, dancers, art kids, he knows tons of people and is always out and about! If he sees you crying in the dressing room he’ll run over and hug you! But if you’re his dancing partner he can be very picky “Ugh, NON, stop sickling your foot it looks atrocious!”
S.Italy: Oooooooh boy, Lovino to be a photographer for big brands like GUCCI or Louis Vuitton! But you gotta start at the bottom and work your way up! Lovi is extremely short tempered when he has to work with people his own age and has made his brother cry many times by yelling and nagging. “NO! Look at the CAMERA not ME! You idiot now look! You moved and now he shot’s blurry, nice job!” But despite that, you’ll still find him crying as he edits photos cause he waited until the last possible movement to turn everything in and now he’s gotta cram! But then his perfectionist side kicks in and then he cries even MORE cause ‘I don’t have enough time to make the picture perfect but it needs to look perfect! But I don’t have enough time-‘
N.Italy: Feli wants to be a PAINTER and not just any painter, a realist painter. He loves taking Lovi’s pictures to paint! He goes around and will take pictures of students, with their permission, and will paint them super realistically! He’s painted Ivan and Yao many times cause they’re his buddies and he appreciates them so much!! He’s been to every show their school has put on and he’s always there to cheer others on at art shows, even if he didn’t submit anything to that show. He and Matt work together in the studio sometimes! Matt will let him paint a sculpture or Feli will paint Matt whike he’s working. Feli talks and talks while Mattie listens without a complaint :)
Prussia: Gil is a band boy, he plays the saxophone, clarinet and flute. He’s got a big ol’ lung capacity! He loves music and uses it as a coping mechanism. When he’s having Albino Aches, he plays music to get through it, when he’s frustrated with his peers he plays the sax dramatically and if he’s feeling like a gremlin, he’ll play All Star on the flute to annoy Francis during practice. “Gil! Get out of here!” *vigorous flute sounds*. Gil plays in the pit for shows so even though you don’t see him much, he’s loud and he’s there! He and Yao DONT get along cause Yao is very very serious about music while Gil is just good at it and enjoys it. He doesn’t plan on making a career out of it but he’s having a great time while he’s playing!
Germany: Lud is in an advanced choir and has such a beautiful singing voice UGH DUDE! He gets super embarassed when you compliment him or when Gilbert’s yelling ‘THATS MY BABY BROTHER!! WOOO!!!!’ From the crowd. He’s a freshman there but he auditioned for a hiiiigh up choir and easily got in! He takes great care of his voice, no unnecessary yelling and definetly no smoking. He chides others in his choir for doing so but hey, at the end of the day, Lud knows he’ll just take their places when they ruin their voices! Lud wants to make a career out of singing cause he just...Loves it so much. He worries so much about being in a real serious choir one day :0 His worst fear is that he’ll fail every auditom he goes to! His dad assures him that that won’t happen...And he trusts his dad...So he’ll power through it and sing his kil’ heart out
Japan: Kiku and a few friends want to make their own manga one day! That’s the goal! But for now, they’re all settling for advanced drawing classes and painting classes. They don’t exactly have manga courses at school so they practice that on their own time. They’ve made a bunch of friends through their art program though! And since Kiku speaks English, Japanese and Chinese, he tutors other students who wish to learn those languages! That way he gets money to buy fancy copics :) he doesn’t work for the big showcases or anything like that, he prefers to keep to himself, but his teachers put his art in school art shows constantly!
Long postttttt thanks for reading :) yeeeehaw!

I just got back from seeing the Cats Tour and i have to share my favorite points.
Strap in cause there is a lot.
First off, BOMBALURINA TOUCHED ME! *Squeals and faints*
I actually had interactions with four of the cats.
The first was with Demeter. When she was coming up the aisle i gave her a little bow and she paused and gave me this look before shaking herself and continuing. Not the most positive interaction but vary in character for the skittish queen so still awesome!
The second was with Bomba as mentioned above. During the play the cats would greet each other by holding out their hands. So i did that and gave a little bow when she was coming down the aisle at one point. And i felt her silky glove brush my hand. The fact that i didn’t Etcetera squeal and die right then and there is a miracle.
The last was with Coricopat and Tantomile. During Mistoffelees’ song when they danced down the aisle I bowed to them. Coricopat paused and looked at me. Tantomile (who had already danced past a few second before) rejoined him and they eyed me for a moment. Then they bowed back. I felt so honored in that moment and i still do.
(Cassandra also walked past me twice. She was so beautiful!)
Now to my favorite moments of the actual play. their wasn’t much in regards to Tuggoffelees romantic moments, They seemed to be playing it off as more buddies then boyfriends.
At one point i could feel the music vibrating in my chest. That has never happened to me before. It was amazing.
Skimbleshanks wore his vest for the whole play. It was adorable.
During Jennyanydots’ song Mistoffelees was helping her around the stage a lot. At one point he helped her sit  down at one end of the stage and she looked to the other end and opened her mouth. and stopped moving. Misto poked her. Rose up and looked in the direction she was staring in to try and find what she was staring at. Then he waved his hand in front of her face. No reaction and Jenny is just not moving. it was so cute and funny. He eventually just left then came back a little further into the song, approaching her from the other side, and she finally snapped out of it and smiled at him as if nothing had happened.
Jenny was so sparkly!
Jenny scolding Misto atop the tire during Tugger’s song. it felt very concerned and caring instead of annoyed and it just made me . . . aww.
This Mistoffelees was quite possibly the cutest ever!
There was this scene during one of the times Grizabella shows up. Gus doesn’t see her arrive and doesn’t quite seem to understand whatever everyone in reacting to. Then Old Deuteronomy directs him to go to Grizabella and greet her. Gus just goes “OK! Hello there young lady.” then Jenny hurries forward before they can touch and leads him away. he just keeps smiling, not quite understanding what just happened. it broke my heart.
Bomba holding out her hand to touch Grizabella then quickly pulling back and hissing at her when Griz reaches out. naughty queen. very bad.
Demeter reached out to Grizabella twice and fled each time.
During Bustopher jones there is this sequence when he tucks this napkin into his collar that serves a duel purpose as a table and all the cats come out dancing with platters of food. Skimble also had a napkin over his arm like a very proper waiter for a bit. it was cute.
Alonzo and Cassandra were always sitting next to each other. It was so sweet
There was a moment during the Jellicle ball when Tugger is standing off to the side and Bomba siddles up to him. and he just NOTICES HER. Just a “Yes. I want you.” sort of moment. they started dancing together after this.
Tugger and Misto had a little moment atop the car at some point. it was cute.
Victoria and Plato had extra romantic moments spread throughout the ball. They just kept noticing each other and being all surprised and and in awe of each other. Like love at first sight several times over. So sweet!
That cute little dance thing Munkustrap and Demeter do with their hands? they did it! Victoria and Plato and Coricopat and Tantomile did it too!
The twitchy little thing Sillabub did every time after somebody touched her paw. she came off as such a shy baby!
Tugger standing high up on the ladder and tapping his foot in time with the other songs.
Tugger being the ‘Where’s Waldo’ of cats. Constantly showing up in a different spot and posing.
Tugger doing that stretched out arm thing and Tumble patting at his hands. Being given an annoyed look after the third time he did it just made Tumble bat at the other hand.
Rumpleteazer was so tiny and chunky! such a cute baby girl!
The actor playing Old Dee had such a powerful voice.
Old Deuteronomy bops Coricopat on the head then he and Tantomile run over to Sillabub and bop her on the head to make her start singing her part of Moment of Happiness. it was like song weird form of mind control? :/ not sure what to think about that
During Gus’s song Old Dee comes up to him and sings “You could do it again.” and i will admit i just about cried for joy. Old Dee and Gus just had so many cute moments.
The term ‘Heathen Chinese’ in Pekes and the Pollicles was changed to ‘Winsome Chinese’.
When the train crashed during skimble’s song there was one cat just kinda sticking out the top of the smokestack who just flopped over and went limp. Then he wore it off stage, head sticking out the top and scurrying feet sticking out the bottom. it was hilarious!
Tumblebrutus, Sillabub and Pipe Cat (I think he’s a swing?) are the only kittens of the tribe aside from Jerrie and Teazer and are constantly together.
Three times I noticed Skimble and Jenny sitting in the background together just nuzzling each other.
i actually had a moment during that scene when ‘Macavity’ and fake Deuteronomy are both on stage where i was questioning myself. i knew what was going to happen but still! i actually thought it was Old Dee!
there was a sequence where Macavity is trying to climb atop the car and he kept getting smacked back down. it was both scary and somehow hilarious?
Tumble tries to fight Macavity and is immediately struck down, cowering and fleeing in terror. Somebody protect the baby!
none of the cats were knocked during the fight scene but afterward Munk just starts limping heavily and Demeter runs across the stage to his side. That got me right in the feels
I actually jumped when Macavity fried all the lights. i have seen this scene like five hundred times but somehow seeing it in person was just so . . . jarring.
Have i mentioned that this version of Mistoffelees might just be the cutest thing ever?!
Mistoffelees and Tugger giving each other a hug at the end of Misto’s song.
at the start of Grizabella’s song Tumble and the Pipe Cat are the first to respond to her and start moving closer and closer. Then suddenly pull back and return to their places with their backs turned. i wanted them to be the ones to touch her so bad.
Demeter turned around when Grizabella sang “I can smile at the old days. I was beautiful then.” and i just . . . GAH!
Victoria darting forward when Grizabella falls down during her song and stopping herself before getting too close and slinking back to Old Deuteronomy’s side
Grizabella smacking herself in the face with her long hair during her big number. but she made it work and she could really belt it out i could feel “TOUCH ME!” in my heart.
Tugger was lounging against the oven watching her the whole time. Aside from Old Dee he was the only one who didn’t turned his back or look away from her.
Grizabella being lifted into the air ‘Ala Peter Pan’ by wires was gorgeous.
Mungojerrie spent the entirety of ‘Addressing the Cats’ being so sassy to the audience. I Loved It!
