-magical anathema who was created to be her messiah figure brother’s bodyguard but kills him and takes his place as messiah figure and

-son of a demigod who is killed by missionaries of an imperial religion and it breaks him to the point that he becomes a priest of said religion. he has every problem.

-child of an emperor who kills their father to halt an imperial power and at this point is about 800 years old. They don’t know this.

-boy with perfect memory for everything he’s read and also a generational memory that spans centuries. painful.

-child of a major house that is sent to a priory to have their magic bled out of them only to be trained in secret by two batshit wizard nuns who surgically implant the rib bone of a dead wizard into their rib cage in order to set them as the messiah figure instead of the first character. This has adverse effects.

movie sonadow would be so l umity-coded…and i say this bc their dynamic is similar to the games but with a different and tender perspective: they both empathize deeply with each other now, and this shadow is not as reticent or closed off bc of that. that being said: movie!sonic would ABSOLUTELY 'YOU'RE the sweet potato!' the hell out of shadow

interesting how often the ones claiming that galadriel's season 2 arc was perfect and everyone who doesn't think so is just too haladriel brainrotted or something are the same folks who openly say it's fine if she were to just... fade into the background in season 3 or disappear outright. sorry I actually do think it's sexist for galadriel to be introduced as the central protagonist only for her to be gradually phased out so that gil-galad and elendil or elrond or whichever legendarium dude can have more to do.

Books of 2024: GRAVEYARD SHIFT by M. L. Rio.

I really liked IF WE WERE VILLAINS back when it came out, so I was excited for the same author to do Creepy Fucked Up Fungus and Questionable Scientific Ethics: The Insomnia Book.

This was fun! Very short (my copy is only 108 pages), and it takes place over the course of one (1) sleepless night (which, coincidentally, is how I read it), but I enjoyed it for what it was. I've seen some people in reviews wishing it were longer, but I thought we got to know all the characters pretty well for a story that happens in less than 10 hours, and I had a good time.

ok so i have a slight confession to make

as obsessed as I am with spider-man I have only read a handful of comics, having sort of avoided it because theres SO much content and my comic reading list is already insane (i'm still stuck in 2012) i do know things from other media and just learning but again have only read a handful of spidey comics so now i'm out here asking – if I want to get into spidey comics, what should I read? as a young avengers and ikol loki fan etc (new-ish characters) most of my reading list is comprised of every-single-appearance-of-x-character, and I just can't practically do that with massive heroes that have been around for 60 years and make tiny cameos in many comics (i have a loki list like that and it is long but not as long as a peter parker one would be)

tbh i had no opinion at all of her and then about a year ago there was a poll on which member of the collective was the best. and the tiergan lovers website let tiergan down. in favor of her. /hj

in seriousness, dislike was a bit strong. im still mostly neutral on her. she does sort of feel like just another sparkly girlboss in the series which. admittedly is a trope in kotlc thats started to piss me off a bit bc it seems like every adult woman falls into it.

juline is like. the final evolution of that sparkly girlbossery. she has no real relationship damage for more than 2 minutes after revealing shes been lying to her family for years and was part of the organization that grady thought killed his daughter.

in general! it doesnt seem like she ever faces any consequences for lying to her family or pushing them to the side a bit in favor of the black swan.

idk maybe there were problems (specifically with dex) and we never saw them bc theyre not sophies problem but. whatever.

also what is her "official job." was she passing off as a stay at home mom? does she work in the nobility? idk

Percy Jackson show coming out literally is like digging down and unearthing my roots, it was so formative for me, been there through a lot of transitions and phases, through meeting the most important people in my life now, getting to know myself and the world around me, life was so great, but i've grown up and come to know that life continues to be great.

I've gotten at this before but physical attraction towards + uncritical reverence of + relatability to a character really can poison your ability to interpret and understand them holistically and realistically. you know like how it works in real life
