Since helping to assist the woman in finding her new freedom, he hadn’t heard from her and he hadn’t tried to reach out. Granted, it wasn’t as if they’d exchanged numbers and life stories. In a city like Providence Peak though, everyone had a way of finding one another again, even when they weren’t looking. “You enjoying your night?” For all he knew, she didn’t even want to see him again, but he wasn’t about to walk away like she wasn’t even in the room. “You look nice.” He wanted to ask about her ex-husband, but he opted out of doing so for the sake of not ruining the moment. If she wanted to talk about it, she would.

Her night hadn’t been an entire fluke. Minus her momentary stint at the edge of her emotions and the jerk who’d thought a simple line would amuse her, everything else had been perfectly grand. She’d even made a few new friends and had gotten someone’s number that didn’t read as arrogant. She was on a high and that was the only reason that when she shoulder checked someone by accident and her drink splashed at her feet, she wasn’t even mad about it. Surprisingly, she was amused. “I can’t believe that didn’t get on either of us,” she hummed after looking over his suit and double checking over her dress. “I should have been paying more attention. I’m sorry.”

Wearing a suit wasn’t the most uncomfortable part of the night, but watching happy couples twirl on the dancefloor without any worries in the world? That was the part that made him feel so uneasy. Whoever he lingered around would be implicated. If Nathan or any of his goons were watching, they’d figure out more than he wanted them to. However, for the sake of blending in and drowning out his discomfort of the night, he did his best to push those thoughts and worries aside. “It’s a shame I don’t remember anything from those dance lessons,” he exhaled lightly, hoping that Dilan could find humor in his joke. They’d paid for them and for what? “It’s good to see you again. Do you know Nathan? Seems like the whole city decided to show up.”

She’d scanned over a thousand dresses before settling on the one that hugged her every curve of her frame. Her intention was simple; turn every head in the room, Nathan Crane included. She’d bounced from conversation to conversation, some being interesting, others being a complete waste of time if she were being frank. “Nathan, this is incredible,” she complimented freely. It wasn’t the champagne fueling her; it was the buzz of the entire night. “You look good.” Not that it was surprising. He always looked good. Her gaze flicked away from him for only a few seconds, but it was a few seconds long enough to see the man who’d just been standing in her living room weeks earlier supporting another pretty face on his arm. Rather than linger, she turned back to Nathan, her intentions shifting from the casual conversation she’d originally sought out. “How’s it feel to be on top?” Her gaze caught his before she spoke again. “Of the world? You must feel like it right about now.”

Despite the fluke with his tie, he’d melted into place just fine after overhearing a small group talking about baseball. It was the one thing he could chime in on without hesitation, but the bonding session was short lived because as soon as his dark hazel hues landed on a familiar handsome man, he said his goodbyes and parted ways from them. “Well, look who it is,” he greeted, a small smile on his mouth as he looked Elijah over before giving his shoulder a friendly squeeze. “Looking good, man. How’s it going? You want something to drink? They have the good stuff."

A charity ball wasn’t exactly where Sage had expected to be on a Friday night, especially when Coyote Night was just a day away and she should have spent the night preparing for that instead. But there was life outside of The Jagged Yard and being a mom and she knew she had to get out and experience it. Plus, she’d never turn down a night to harass her arch nemesis any way she could, even if it were at his own charity event. In the process of seeking Nathan out, the blonde stumbled upon a familiar face, one that just so happened to be friend and not foe. “Kenny! I didn’t know you’d be here tonight,” Sage greeted, a soft smile on her lips. “You look absolutely gorgeous. You here alone or is your lesser half out there sulking because there’s no way he could hold a candle to you?”

Charity events weren’t out of the usual for Emmy. Even if she had never met the hosts of the evening and found herself only slightly uncomfortable in the outfit she had chosen, she’d never turn down supporting a good cause for the kids. She was lucky enough to have a pretty distraction on her arm for most of the night, only losing her when the other woman found someone she knew and her attention was caught up in casual conversation, leaving Emmy to wander the ballroom in search of a strong drink. Instead, she found a blur that almost rushed right past her wearing an expression that didn’t seem typical for what was supposed to be a night of dancing, drinks, and fun. “Hey,” She pointed out quickly, catching Verda’s arm to stop the woman in her tracks, a concerned look pulling on her own face. “You good?”

For reasons Penny still couldn’t figure out, R.J. had been acting a bit distant towards his little sister. It wasn’t like him. She was worried that he was going through something, and in typical R.J. form, he was keeping it to himself. Penny didn’t want to push him into talking, so she had been giving her older brother some space. They had come to the event separately, but it would only be a matter of time before the siblings crossed paths. Penny turned when she heard R.J.’s voice coming from behind her. “Hey big bro. Who knew you could clean up so nice?” She teased, playfully dusting off his shoulder. “Did you come with a date, or flying solo tonight?”

Her dress left a flowing trailed behind her as she weaved through the crowd in search of one of the only reasons why she decided to drag herself out of Aslihan’s very comfy guest house that night — the open bar. Even at the risk of running into her brother, who she had been successfully ignoring since the night their party was broken up, and his horrid blonde of an other half. Somehow, she was convinced that the amount of alcohol she could consume at the event would more than make up for stepping into that risk and so she approached the bar with confidence, holding the skirt of her dress with her left hand as she leaned against the top of the bar, catching the bartender’s attention and ordering the first drink that popped into her mind, the same drink Nathan Crane had her make at her pop-up interview. As she was waiting for the drink, her eyes caught sight of someone that looked familiar, but took a second to click in her mind. “Well, if it isn’t my favorite bartender,” Molly complimented, glancing at the woman who ended up beside her. “How does it feel being on this side of things?”

The champagne had done numbers on helping to warm him up to the night. He still wasn’t venturing out onto the dancefloor, but he was at least relaxed enough to enjoy the company of the night. “Does this guy always throw parties like this?” It was more formal than any gathering he’d ever gone to, but if Nathan Crane always kept an open door policy to those of Providence Peak, he’d have to consider getting out more. “If so, does he always require the suit and tie affair?” With the help of Kat, he’d figured out something to wear for the night, but his closet wasn’t line with options.

"Spin instructor, two o’clock,” he mumbled as he offered a gentle shoulder check to the man who was looking over an decorative piece. Khalil bit back his laughter for as long as he could before a quiet hum fell from his mouth and his lips pulled upwards at the corners to show a faint smile. “Do you ever think of where people get the idea for some of this stuff? I know it looks nice, but how did anyone even come up with that?” Really, he was just there to make an appearance for the sake of amusing Nathan Crane, but he had to make his presence seem deeper than that. “Are you familiar with Nathan Crane?”

Life could be tricky at times, but as busy as it got, Verda never forgot those who were of the most importance to her. “I think it’s a little unfair that you came looking like that. Everyone is going to be focused on you rather than the person they came with,” she teased, bottom lip caught between her teeth as she leaned in for a quick hug. Of course, Sophia looked gorgeous. “I think Zepp has really been appreciating the extra love you’ve been giving him. I’m just wondering when it’ll be my turn to get a little.” She offered her to the other woman and looked over her shoulder towards the drink table. “Have a second before that handsome guy of yours steals you away?”

“I don’t know if this place is for me, Kat.” He wasn’t sure what he was doing with himself anymore, but the woman had assured him that all he needed was a good night out to forget about the things that hurt the most. While a small part of him was excited, the other parts of him felt entirely out of place. “I don’t this suit is going to help me fit in.” They were already there and leaving now would have made him feel like an asshole. Seeing as Kat had done so much for him, the least he could do for her was show up. “I’ll give it a shot, but don’t think I’m stepping foot on the dance floor.” And not because he didn’t have an ounce of rhythm, but more so because he did.

Coming alone had it’s perks, but it had just as many cons when it came to arrogant men who thought they could pull anyone from the room. She’d listened to a few lame lines before shutting him down, but her amusement grew tenfold when he turned his attention to the woman at her side. He dropped another line and when he didn’t get the reaction he wanted, he huffed and walked away. “Can you believe that guy? I think he googled worst pickup lines of the 2000′s before coming in here tonight. I feel sorry for the first person it actually works on.”
