All for the Cult

I hid this one cuz I’m afraid it’d be controversial and up until this week, I hadn’t even shared it with my sister

I actually am writing a fic for it but the fic will not be published until it is completed. I don’t want to risk leaving it in the public on a hiatus so it’s safe with me until I can finish all the chapters

Basically instead of exy as the base of AFTG, it’s bastardized religion. Exy technically exists but instead of Tetsuji continuing Kayleigh and his pet project, he turns to forming a cult. Exy ends up being a dying sport no one really cares about unless it’s Kevin Day who still plays on the side of his true passion, communing with God.

Neil was a human sacrifice raised for slaughter until his mom took him and ran. Homeless and with no way out, Neil joins Wymack’s staff at his wayward home/church where junkies and sob stories go for their last second chance. No one actually has to pray to god or believe in the Bible’s teachings to work there as it is not a standard church and more like a theater than anything

The more kids Wymack recruits, the longer he gets to keep his church and program at the school

(Also side note but I was doing the comic of andreil but forgot my house looks like a Catholic Church threw up in it so I got awkward and couldn’t finish it)(oh and my sister renamed it all for the debauchery cuz she got to read the altar scene lol)

Key points and fun facts of this au:

- the Ravens are a cult cult instead of a sports cult

- Riko is obsessed with his holy trinity (perfect court)

- The Moriyamas are still a crime unit but Nathan is sort of a satanist on the side (Would like to say mass majority of satanists are not evil or bad, Nathan just is)

- Neil was born as a sacrifice. Mary took him and ran tho before the ritual

- The Foxes are ppl from broken pasts who work at Wymack’s church for scholarship/community service.

- Wymack’s church isn’t a standard catholic kind. He has his own unique spin on it so even those who aren’t religious can still work there. Campus students attend the services to watch the plays, hear the readings, listen to the choir, and some even use the confession box. Some even go to donate as the Foxes are connected to a bunch of charities

- Andrew is not a real priest. The cousins were apprentices for Luther for a couple years to get him off their backs. Because of his experience and eidetic memory, Wymack has Andrew do scripture readings and other tasks. In return, Andrew gets to be off the meds the entire time of mass

- the Foxes attend classes and work shifts at the church in their free time. If they flunk classes or skip church, their scholarship is revoked

- all of the Foxes live in the upstairs rooms above the church

- When Andrew first met Luther, Luther promised to take care of the Cass situation as long as Andrew gave God a try. Andrew only agreed to read the Bible and took Nicky’s since the Hemmicks were worried he’d vandalize a new one. Andrew thought it was a good read but mostly was humored by all of Nicky’s annotations

- Andrew doesn’t care about religion enough to hate it so he’s fine chilling around and hearing the preaching

- When Neil goes to the nest, he agrees to spend those weeks in Riko’s church where he’s ofc tortured. Riko no longer has the desire to sacrifice Neil as long as Neil joins his cult

- Renee holds a Bible study on Sunday evenings and Saturdays so weekends are Andrews days off

- Lots of their readings are done performatively with music, spoken word poetry, or with their own unique spins/translations of the text. (Every mass always starts with a disclaimer that what is being said/shown is their interpretation and not to be taken as the honest god given truth)

- whenever they raise enough money or supplies, the foxes celebrate by getting wasted; Wymack’s treat

- Betsy is still there for mandatory therapy sessions since the point of the scholarship is to rehabilitate troubled youth

- Abby is Wymack’s assistant but she also is a part time nurse

You two met while he was on campus. He saw you at some event, welcoming the freshman or something like that. He couldn’t remember, but he remembered you. Decked out in everything pink, you were beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. He wanted to talk to you. To introduce himself to you. To get to know you.

He was positive there was a beautiful soul underneath that beautiful face.

And he was right.

omg friend u do NOT have to worry, i will continue to ship hayffie and write hayffie for as long as i physically can. they are like my oldest hyperfixation and they're not going anywhere in my mind.

that being said, i've seen a lot of hayffie people expressing anxiety about haymitch&HisGirl and haymitch&maysilee entering the general public mindset and i simply... do not agree. if anything, i think maysilee and haymitch will have a distinctly platonic bond and if some people interpret that as romantic, that's fine! that's fandom baby! and i've always been an advocate for haymitch well and truly loving His Girl. part of what makes hayffie interesting for me is the later-in-life-second-love part of it. i don't think haymitch having genuine earnest feelings for His Girl in SOTR will take away from hayffie in any way, shape, or form. and, honestly, i think the idea that haymitch can't fall in love with two seperate women over the course of like 40 years is kinda ridiculous. if anything, i think us seeing haymitch canonically engaging with his romantic feelings has the potential to make hayffie even more delicious!!!

as for a possible epilogue, i am also not that worried tbh. whatever happens happens. i'm still going to keep writing hayffie in the same way. i'll just have to start adding the "canon divergence" tag to all my post-war fics lol.

So, after finishing Gale's origin, I think I'd play Astarion's. Don’t get me wrong, but it’s interesting for me to watch the romance with Gale from Astarion's POV, from the very beginning to the very end, because after reading some fics, I realized that I had never seen such a plot before. I mean falling in love with Gale right away, and not after all the events are over. That would be an amazing slowburn.

What do I mean, you ask? I noticed that when people write about this couple, it often comes up like this: Astarion is usually in a relationship with Tav, but when he/she/they reject him (remember the opportunity to remain friends with him, right?), Gail, according to the plot, usually invites Astarion to settle down in his tower and feelings arise later. Even if they flirted with each other before.

And although such stories are well written and interesting to read, I can’t help but feel that there’s a certain… wrongness in such a relationship? I mean, Astarion gets everything right away without doing much, home, a handsome lover who takes care of him and will do anything for him, yet Astarion himself does nothing to get anything of these after the game ends.

People usually justify this by saying that he has already suffered enough and deserves all the best. And I agree that yes, he really deserves it. However, I believe that in this case he achieved nothing on his own. He saved the world, yes, he killd his master, yes, but still... it happens when he has his friends around who would support him and a lover who he seduces for this particular purpose.

Of course, by this point he may already be in a full-fledged relationship, but it all started with a specific goal, right? And don’t think I hate him, I don’t, as I don't blame him for anything, anyone in his place would do everything to get at least some protection and hope for something better. I don’t know if I can explain what I mean in a best way, but I'll try.

Astarion simply moves in stories from under the protection of one lover to another. And usually in such cases, Gale insists that Astarion doesn’t owe him anything… and here I also agree, but in this case the question is: what did Astarion himself do to deserve all of this? Past suffering, it seems to me, is not a sufficient reason to give him everything at once and it doesn't mean he has to suffer more or anything. That is, as soon as Tav breaks up with him (or he with Tav), Astarion falls in love with the one who turned out to be as kind, more generous, who never demands anything in return. And there is, it seems to me, something not quite right in this.

What am I getting at? I would like to see Astarion's story, from a POV of a person who undergoes development, not just getting everything the best as a reward for his suffering. For example, I would like to watch the story from his point of view, when he falls in love with Gale, and for the sake of this love he begins to change, fight his traumas, outgrow them, because he realizes that, perhaps, for the first time in his life, he has fallen so deeply in love.

Without a relationship with Tav (I don’t like it at all when Tav is in the plot, they seem too unnecessary), but independently decided to change. And I want to say right away that by the word “change” I don’t mean anything bad, since he still changes when the player has a romance or friendship with him.

But for me, for example, it would be interesting to observe these changes, this growth, the struggle with traumas because of his love for Gale. Because there is someon who he cares about, not just about himself.

Let's be honest, Astarion is more a taker, Gale is a giver. Sometimes such relationships work but not always. Some people love to give, some people prefer to take. But I do not think it would work for them.

I see them as equals. Or at least are trying to be.

And yes, it can be love from the first sight (why not?), or the relationship can begin quite like in canon: with manipulation and seduction (tho I've never seen a fic in which Astarion falls in love right away), but then the realization comes that this is not just a hook-up that means nothing, but a connection that means, and not just to get someone as an ally who would help kill Cassador (after all, you can kill him simply by being friends with Astarion).

Although love at first sight from Astarion's perspective would be quite interesting, since Gale does not seem at all like a person who is easily manipulated and seduced.

There is something incredibly attractive about experiencing the whole story of this love from beginning to end (and despite the slowdown, they can still sleep with each other), and only then, when the final battle is over, they can go to Gale’s home together , but not because Astarion has nowhere to go and he again risks being left alone, but because by that time he and Gale will already be in love and confess their feelings to each other (I think it will be even more interesting to watch from Astarion's POV), and therefore they will no longer imagine their life without each other.

It will all look even tastier if it all happens long before the final battle, because Astarion will already have something to lose.

I want Astarion to try as hard on the relationship as Gale usually tries in fanfiction to heal his injuries. But I have almost never come across stories where they both worked on the relationship and healed each other equally. In most stories, unfortunately, Astarion gets much more, with almost no effort (we are not to talk about his past suffering), and this is just frustrating, as if he is not able to build his happiness on his own.

Someone may mention his traumas again and I understand perfectly well that not everyone can overcome their nightmares alone. But that’s why I mentioned that I would like to see how both work on relationships. In the game, Astarion is the one who takes, and Gale is more the one who gives (which I've already mentioned), but I would like to see equality, so that both give and take equally. And from Astarion's perspective, this would be incredibly interesting to watch, mainly precisely because he is the one who takes, he isn't used to give, but for his beloved, at least when he realizes he's in love, he would want to do more. To be more than just a taker.

You don't have to agree with me. But this is how I would like their relationship to be.

Oh, one more thing

I see Astarion as someone who tops, I do not mind switching, but top Astarion and bottom Gale sounds nice♡( ◡‿◡ )

finally trying to like. watch the flipside bc I don’t have money for the game and honestly like? it didn’t kill my family and salt my crops or anything it was just a mid, weird game that came after absolute peak (the re up). I agree that the characters felt ooc but they felt like stupidly exaggerated versions of what they already were. like we all knew Jeffery was a freak. he was a self insert of SBN3 written so he could be weird to women. he took a photo of Nicole in her underwear and blackmailed her with it, shot up the school over his fetishes being exposed, etc. honestly the game just wasn’t as funny bc like. each game had these girls in miserable situations, they can technically both be “torture porn”. but flipside just wasn’t handled well LOL… the foot shit was nasty, especially considering they didn’t SHOW any of Nicole’s sex work when she did it in the first two games. the Taliban shit was nasty, felt especially weird considering current events and like. general racism. I don’t know like. I do agree that the game just kind of left a weird unresolved pit in my stomach instead of being cathartic and clever like the re-up. idk like I guess snb3 just wanted to alienate his fanbase who wanted fun yuri content? which yknow it worked!! but the game was never really all fun yuri content (even though I do love it). So, I personally don't have a single maternal bone in my body and I'm probably going to project the distaste of having my own kids onto Tseng. I feel like, for Reno and Rude, they would both be the parents to go out of their way to show you up. I also feel as though they would go out of their way to fuck with any new relationship. Like you think you’re gonna have someone else taking a parental role in their child’s life? No way. Lol, good luck. Definitely the cool parents but these two can probably lack any disciplinary skills. So when they come back acting like spoiled brats from a weekend with their dad, don’t be surprised. Definitely lets their kid get away with a lot, but they’ll step in when it’s notably a negative thing. I think co-parenting would be more stable with Rude vs Reno. I super doubt Reno would be a very toxic baby daddy or anything, but he’s far more stubborn. Like I can’t imagine one could be mad at these guys for doing what they’re supposed to for their child, but I guess I can understand being constantly one upped and finding it annoying? But they’re going to make it clear to you how important it is for them to be in their child’s life and will never give up getting you to see this point. It took the two of you to create the little fella, they firmly believe both parents are a requirement. It doesn’t matter how you guys fell out, they’re gonna stick around. Going back to the thing about them not allowing you to have any successful relationships? Like….i do think that these guys would still fully fuck whoever they have kids with SORRY but not really. Now Tseng? Oh god, I have a hard time imagining him as a father unless it’s post-Advent Children. (I have a couple of views for this) Otherwise….LMAO HE’S DEFINITELY PAYING FOR THAT ABORTION…I think he’d be insistent and very negative about having a child while he’s so heavily involved with Shinra the way he is before Advent Children. I don’t think he’d be able to spare room in his heart for a kid at this time and would see it as more of a burden and a distraction that he won’t really be able to take care of. I don’t think it’s the general dislike for having children. I just believe everything in his being thinks he shouldn’t have kids in the first place, probably wouldn’t give it much thought until he’s faced with a pregnancy situation. Doesn’t have the time to spare to figure out parenting and probably wouldn’t want to have a kid because that’s easy leverage too. I think there’s a LOT of reasons Tseng wouldn’t want a throughout CC and 7’s timeline. If he really cannot get you to agree to terminating the pregnancy I think he’d still have something to do with the kid in a couple of aspects. Mostly sending money for things that’s needed and if you desperately need a break and he manages to find the time away from work, but at this time he isn’t going to prioritize the both of you outside of actions he can preform that are quick and keep him at a distance. I think there genuinely would be emotion there but he’s constantly hiding it and acting like he doesn’t give a fuck to the point you can’t help but believe it. Just does what he’s required for this time. But for Advent Children Tseng? He’d give a fuck, he’s probably going to be similar to Reno and Rude just more closed off and he’s definitely not entirely the cool parent but from time to time he’ll spoil and let his kids indulge in whatever they want.

Dare I add….Rufus to this list? 😂😂😂😂GUESS WHO’S FIGHTING FOR FULL CUSTODY!!!!! RUFUUUUSSSSSSSS!!!! This will be the most toxic fucking guy out of all of them. Rufus is not mentally prepared to raise a child realistically but he doesn’t want his child to be raised in a lesser environment. Mr. Gets Full Custody But Doesn’t Know How To Raise A Kid. Expect him to call you about every little problem. You’re certainly not going to be able to start a new relationship with this one as the father. He’s certainly not having some common trash you picked up walking on the streets of Midgar around his child (at least that’s how he would put it probably). Mind you, he didn’t think full custody over properly. He’s gotta be a busy fucking guy so full custody makes zero sense anyways but he’s stupid and wants to get his way so bad, even when it comes to the kids, even if it means sometimes having negative effects on their child’s mental. Look, I don’t agree with the way he intentionally or unintentionally made Jimin the focus of that video even though the headlines spoke about it being about Tae’s upcoming White Christmas but tbf it is journalism and he did mention at the start of the video that he was going to be discussing Tae’s upcoming song as well as some other times when BTS and other members have released Christmas -sy songs ( paraphrasing).

I think the issue is that some fans are too prone to misunderstanding things and jumping into conclusion. I think it was kinda unprofessional of him making another member the focus of the video but it was always clear that he wasn’t only going to talk about White Christmas and that was mentioned at the beginning of the video. While I think he deserved to be called out to some extent, sending him death threats was too far. I feel like sometimes fans forget that these people are only doing their jobs and everything that journalists publish about our faves are not always going to be stuff we like. Sending them death threats over stuff like that, when it’s just them doing their jobs is a little too much for me and let’s be honest. I don’t understand why sending death threats has become so normalized that at any slightest inconvenience, people rush to tell people to kill themselves. Kaz Brekker didn’t know how he never noticed it before.

When it came to you, he typically was so attentive, noticing even the smallest details. And he did technically notice all the symptoms; the way you were always cold, the way your wounds would take longer to heal, or how you would sleep too much or none at all. But it wasn’t until The Crows were gathered for brunch one Sunday morning that Kaz finally put all the pieces together.

It was a joyous occasion, and despite being some of the most secretive people in the Barrel, the seven of you made quite a ruckus. But it was joyful, everyone teasing and messing with each other. Weekly brunch was Nina’s idea, her having lamented that she never got to see everyone all together anymore. So everyone agreed that once a week, they would all get together, the true Crow Club.

And every week, you would join in on the fun, laughing and joking with everyone. But as Kaz watched you nonchalantly tell the waitress, “Oh, I’m not really hungry”, that something clicked in his brain.

As the gears in Kaz’s mind began to turn, he soon came to realize that you said that every week. And beyond that, Kaz couldn’t recall a time where you had eaten a full meal around him or any of The Crows. It was plausible that you ate alone or when Kaz wasn’t around, but when compared with some of your other behaviors and symptoms, Kaz was fairly sure of what was happening.

Not wanting to cause more distress, Kaz had the good sense enough to leave you be during the brunch. But the moment the both of you got back to the club, he uttered only three words as he walked pass.

“My office, now.”

Despite being close with Kaz, those words still brought a chill up your spine. Cautiously you followed your friend up the stairs and into his office, following his gesture to sit down. For a while, the two of you sat in silence, Kaz staring at you with his chin resting on his clasped gloved hands.

Finally, you couldn’t take it any longer. “Is there someth-“

“Do you have an eating disorder?”

You weren’t sure what you had expected Kaz to talk to you about, but it was certainly not that. Your jaw slack, you rapidly blinked, trying to collect your thoughts.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Kaz’s eyes narrowed. “Do you have an eating disorder?”

You started breathing rapidly, wondering how this man had put the pieces together when you had been so careful to hide it. “I’m fine Kaz.”

“Why don’t you eat with us? Or ever?”

“I-I,” Your words failed you, your brain trying to find some way to combat Kaz’s questions. “Like I said, I’m totally fine. I’m just not hungry a lot.”

With a deep sigh, Kaz got up and moved around the table to sit next to you. When you looked into his eyes, you were surprised by just how gentle they were. “You don’t have to lie to me…or to yourself.”

As you saw the pure concern and affection in Kaz’s gaze, you felt the dams break. Tears freely fell from your eyes as the fears you had been holding in for so long finally came out. Kaz gently placed his hand on your back, trying his best to show comfort and support.

“I don’t-I don’t like my body. Or me in general. Or life. I just…” You trailed off, hanging your head. “I just thought that if I could control what I ate, everything would be so much better.”

“And did it?”

Closing your eyes, you let the truth come out in the smallest whisper. “No.”

“I didn’t think so.” Kaz responded, his voice thoughtful. “Do you want to get better?”

Slightly surprised by the question, you looked back up into Kaz’s eyes. “I—I think so. I’m just scared of what might happen.”

Kaz took his hand off your back and took your hand instead. “You don’t have to go through this alone.” He promised.

“You want to help me?” You asked, searching for any sign of doubt or falsehood in Kaz’s eyes.

But as his blue eyes pierced your soul, you felt the truth of his words. “Every step of the way.”

Good to his word, Kaz Brekker was there for you through everything. He found the best physician and psychologist in Ketterdam, and he was there for every meeting to be a support. Kaz also let you tell the other Crows at your own pace, but when you did, your support system went from one to six instantly. Your little family was there for you, and even though you were scared, it gave you comfort.

Following the treatment plan was difficult. The old inner demons that had haunted you for so long constantly reappeared, making eating difficult. But Kaz and the Crows made sure that you were never alone at mealtime, and they never shamed you for struggling with a particular food or for needing more time. So slowly, with the help of everyone and especially Kaz, bit by bit you learned to heal your relationship with food and your body.

It was a surprisingly clear and sunny Sunday that spring when Ketterdam’s deadliest gang walked down the street, laughing and cajoling the whole way. Upon entering the familiar restaurant, all seven of the crows managed to squeeze into their familiar booth, with only a few complaints and pokes along the way. As you all settled in, a serving girl came up to the table.

You and Kaz were sitting closest to the edge, but the girl elected to talk to you first. “Are you ready to order?”

Kaz held his breath as he watched you hesitate for a moment, looking at the menu on the table.

Looking back up at the serving girl, a bright smile adorned your face. “I’ll have [your favorite breakfast food], please.”

The girl nodded as she wrote down your order, and moving on to Nina, who launched into her elaborate waffle order. But Kaz felt his heart swell with pride, knowing deep down the effort that you were putting in. Kaz reached out underneath the table, and softly he took your hand inside his gloved one. Slightly surprised, you looked up at him, but looking into Kaz’s eyes told you everything he couldn’t say aloud.

Gently squeezing Kaz’s hand in return, you looked around at the little family you and he had built. The journey ahead was long, but your future was bright and full of love.

going to ramble a bit about hbomberguy, not the latest video directly more about some of the reaction to it. full disclosure i am a patron of his, have been for a few years, and became a fan of his channel years before that. i think maybe six years ago? give or take.

im maybe experiencing cognitive dissonance bc its nice that something ive enjoyed for a long time is gaining new audience, and of course new criticism. my initial reaction has been one of resistance that i need to check.

but after reading a bit more of the criticism im like. i kinda of agree? only kind of. i feel like the criticism is maybe not directed at me (or types of fans like me) but at folks for whom this is their first encounter with hbomberguy and are hailing him as a career-ruiner and gleefully enjoying the takedowns. dont get me wrong, takedowns are fun and they’ve always been core to his channel. his oldest stuff was debunking and clowning on right wing youtubers. but thats not all he is? and i dont like the idea of him as this Great Takedown Guy because personally the stuff i like best is his media criticism.

and thats not in the way some folks are like “oh yeah i enjoy hbomberguys media analysis but not his political stuff” i like both. but i think if folks are disregarding that side of his channel then theyre not like. idk how to word this im not the best writer. theyre missing out? or missing the point?

my personal favorite hbomberguy video is Halcyon Dreams. I also really enjoy Scanline (which is both him and shannon strucci), the CAD SLA, and the whole And Here’s Why series (especially speedrunning and pathologic). in much of hbomberguy’s other work, he will disagree with creators or producers in ways that aren’t career endings. and i don’t imagine he’s trying to become a person who does that all the time? i see behavior of his that indicates this to me, such as not naming who took his joke in the uber, explicitly saying “if you go harass Somerton you are worse than him”, and how most of And Here’s Why is neutral to positive, even tho the Garbage ones may get more views. the Sherlock has the highest

I mostly, in this type of drama, take more seriously what people who were close to dream has to say. And i mean not just having make content together, i mean we know they have a deep connection or know each other from long ago. Dream's close Friends from years don't seem to want to drop him, expect punz but that's for a unrelated reason, but tommy. Tommy's Friends knew dream but werent that close to him, and they never gave fully convicting reasons on what dream's a Bad person. Maybe a bit of a dick or negligent sometimes but that's not being Bad person. And i Say this bc people who were not close to dream but are close to Tommy Will obviously take his side of things and try to back him up Even if they weren't close to the guy and his only proof of him being Bad it's"he was complicated to communicate/a bit of a dick behind the scenes sometimes". And i'm not saying this to bash them but bc it's a fact. When we have a close friend we tend to take their side over someone we don't know well or don't like too much and don't have anything to add not matter the situation.

And also i personally don't think this would ruin dream's close Friendships bc like this drama isn't that serious, it's ex-friends being bitter of each other basically. Yeah The comminities harrassment is serious but i'm the personal side it's not that serious, there's not a crime involved

Oooohhh… I think I understand a bit better. The fact that Dream’s oldest friends have not turned on him, the ones who actually know him (besides Punz, but I don’t think he would say Dream is a movie villain he’s just upset) and have deep relationships with him unlike Tubbo, who by his own admittance said he hadn’t hung out with him that much, or Jack who really didn’t know him that well, speaks more of the fact that Dream is not a bad person. Yes I agree, I think it’s interesting that the accusations against him have little to no basis and that the people saying he’s this bad guy aren’t people who’ve actually spent much time with Dream (besides Tommy but we’ve already talked about his possible reasonings). The fact that his old friends stay by his side proves that if you give him the benefit of the doubt and try to work things out then you can have a meaningful relationship, but like anyone you don’t know, if you judge a book by its cover and never give it a true chance for whatever reason then of course your perception of that person will be skewed and the moment they hurt you at all intentional or not is the moment they become a bad guy… anyways… in general it does just make me sad he doesn’t get more support in general (like man, to have someone defend you is so meaningful. In retrospect I realized a good portion of the times I’ve been hurt by people, I really just wanted 1 person to have my side and defend me, course I didn’t really even have that privately so… At least Dream has that. HD Movie ending spoilers

Jasper deserved better! You’re so right!!

I loved seeing Ray at the end but there’s also a lot of psychology around it I kinda dove head first into. Like the way Henry acted like Ray for most of the movie and then just up and left??

Like “you want a gold star or something” at the beginning for Henry to literally give him a gold star at the end, where I assume real world Jasper didn’t know that anything had changed, had to have felt entirely too condescending, right??

I have extremely mixed feelings about the whole movie now that I’ve watched it three times and the initial shock and excitement has worn off, but I think what happened with Henry in the movie is essentially:

he leaned into his lessons from Ray (the subconscious personality building ones) in order to stay ahead of Jasper because if he treated Jasper as an equal then it would’ve given him an opportunity to surpass him and he would’ve been stuck in someone else’s shadow again, and that insecurity presented as this standoffish jerk as a way of keeping Jasper in his place.

And when Missy made him realize how helpful Jasper really was to him, he felt so bad that his insecurities kinda took over and he was like “you have the spotlight here, I’m off to Newtown because they need a hero and I don’t have to compete for the spotlight.” Because unfortunately he does seem to view it as a competition. Even though he and Jasper have been friends for so many years. That never changed. We saw it in Henry’s Jelly. And it was more subtle and adult here because it seems like they avoid confrontation and let it build up.

And then taking on Missy as a sidekick and returning to the person who started it all just feels like the beginning of a generation trauma spiral imo.

In terms of the ending with Jasper I agree with you a hundred percent. I’m still a little confused on the implication of Ray maybe kickstarting a whole new thing but I guess we’ll see if it goes anywhere.

oh yeah I can totally see that. unfortunately I dont think the writers intended for it to be purposefully negative from a writing standpoint and be a generational trauma kinda thing but you could totally see it in this context

honestly I think Henry danger has just gotten the franchise syndrome where the OS starts off with the best arcs of the characters first developing and still being written good but as soon as it goes on for long enough/OS ends the characters get a soft reboot where they either get their character development regressed so they can have it again in the new series or they just. get changed completely and the show plays it off as growing and changing

most of the time they try and at least break down each character into archetypes and traits and just slap them onto a new mannequin to be them in the new series but I dont even think this movie did that tbh. henry felt so ooc and it feels like they really just want him to be a gritty badass hero and also be attractive for all of the people that thirst for him. I've seen so many comment sections in Nickelodeon posts of people saying Jace norman is attractive. it feels like hes just not gonna be like Henry again. hes too gritty and serious to contrast missy's silliness even tho Henry has always been a silly billy

My impression now: defending sejanus on tumblr is not enough, I need a gun. he became my favorite character in tbosas and probably is on my top 3 of the hunger games franchise. he changed the chemistry of my brain and I love him very much.

Favorite thing about that character: I really like how suzanne collins made it so clear how sejanus was just a teenager. he's so young, and he's a genuine kind soul. he was just a sweet boy from highschool and not only I think it's adorable seeing how youthful he is, but it makes everything that happens to him hurt even more and be more impactful.

Least favorite thing: look. I know sejanus was in a very bad situation, and that in his place, coriolanus was probably the only thing near to being treated with dignity and he clinged to it. however it bothered me how sejanus was so genuinely hyping him up in D12. and yes, even though I agree that he didn't know 100% to which extent coriolanus was evil, he did hear some of his takes on the games on the academy, and he did hear coriolanus saying some very evil things and went "lalala I'm not hearing it-". it makes me crazy that he slanders his father while hanging out with someone so alike strabo

An unpopular opinion about that character: this doesn't apply just to him, it applies to the plinths in general, but I really think people take coriolanus' words (you know, coriolanus, very much bitter that a district family has so much more money than him, and that a lot of times refers to district people as animals and savages and etc) too much to heart regarding the privilege the plinths have in the capitol. I'm not saying they aren't privileged, but I see some people going to say that sejanus should've pulled a plutarch and went into politics, when I hardly think he would be able to survive a year in a political landscape in the capitol because the system simply wouldn't let him do it lol. the plinths already need an INSANE amount of money to be able to live like "equals" in the capitol, and that while always giving and giving and giving to the capitol to compensate their presence. tl:dr; I think coriolanus overestimates too much the privilege and power that money brings to sejanus, because in the end, sejanus is still district, and in the end, that's what prevails and sends sejanus to his death.

it's also understandable that they try and dissect dz then miss the mark by a mile LOL. but again, can't be blamed if you hate the guy and thus don't read into him too much, which i think is a reasonable way to consume media... probably more reasonable than me. hence why i didn't respond with my own thesis paper. overall idk man it's not that deep, i've been having fun with rimu and i'd advise y'all to also be silly w/ ur Budgeted RPF Dead Author Yaoi, it'll make things a lot better

abt what you've said, i think dz and chuuya can't exist as true characters w/o each other, unless you fundamentally change their truth. a lot of their good & bad (& inbetween) sides are exposed through their relationship, which i believe is asgr's very interesting way of employing "show-don't-tell." i don't think chuuya's storyline is over, because dazai's isn't, and vice versa. this doesn't mean i don't think they have their own arcs, just that these arcs Must involve the other — if dz's main conflict is good/bad + the mafia, chuuya is his biggest amiable tie to it, and if chuuya's conflict is his self + power, dz must be there for corruption. there's more to say there, but again i don't want to feed rimu's claims of us all being dormant essayists LOL

What makes you think Toga will live? I want to agree but the more I see these sick and demented people cheering for her suicide, the more I start to think maybe I’m the one who has it wrong, and I’m so depressed over the reactions it’s distracting me from other things…

Coherent writing, character arcs and how they generally work in fiction, themes being consistently delivered in a consistently written story with a consistent writer, the author’s own commentary on the story and the character arcs in question (even tho author commentary should always be taken with a grain of salt, his much later comments have adhered to his story very clearly)

Also like I’m sorry but other peoples’ reactions don’t determine my own, nor should they determine yours.

If it makes you feel better feel free to go check out the general take on Reddit from during the PLF war about Deku and Tomura or Touya. Go ahead, because you’ll be seeing what the general consensus was back then and you will wonder how the fuck these people understood a single thing in this story.

So many people swore up and down that the last 3 tgck chapters would never even happen. At all. “Everyone else’s” opinions mean dick to me.

I am unsure how long you’ve been in the fandom but people like myself, @redphlox, @transhawks, @hamliet, @helga-grinduil, and several more I just can’t think off the top of my head been having this debate/argument/back and forth about the villains being just SAVED or seen as victims by the heroes since 2020. And here we are, 3 years later with Touya, Tomura, and Toga all with people in the narrative hellbent on saving them. That argument alone has already been won, that the concept is even present in the story.

People who pay attention to the details and the character arcs and the story’s themes at play have all more or less hit the nail on everything to expect in the big picture.

Everyone you’re mentioning and referring to are the people who call it a Mickey Mouse Manga or call the author a fraud or scream retcon at everything because everything they predict is wrong. Every. Single. Time.

There is only one party here that is angry at the manga, and it isn’t any of the people who have been screaming about a happy ending for the villains for the last 3+ years (much more for some of the people I listed above).

So yeah “everyone is cheering for Toga’s suicide” is not a convincing argument for why she will die. Everyone was cheering for Dabi to die and for Deku to see Tomura as a unsaveable monster and now all those people are throwing online tantrums.

Funny enough, none of the rest of us are.
