what do you mean youre technically a detransitioner cause of terf bullshit?
it's a v long story but i detransitioned for a couple of years when i was 16/17, for multiple reasons but mostly because i fell into the blaire white/kalvin garrah chamber of "you have to be This way to be trans otherwise you're not real".
i was already Deeply insecure about myself and my 'passing' and i was led to believe that i couldn't want to wear makeup or skirts, and i couldn't choose not to have bottom surgery, and i couldn't do anything but bind for 12+ hours a day to the point that my ribcage is still misshapen. basically i thought that if i wasn't suffering enough doing 'feminine' things, i couldn't really be trans, so i should just go back to being a girl and suck it up.
the terf bullshit is because i'd seen a lot of terfs/detransitioners talking about the 'dangers' of testosterone and how it would turn me into a horrible ugly evil monster and how there was nothing worse than wanting to be a man. which combined with 'you need to fully medically transition to be valid at all' creates some very dangerous and upsetting feelings to cope with.
it also came from trying really hard to put myself in a little box before i realised that my sexuality/gender are very fluid and it's FINE for me not to have a label and just do whatever i want. when i was 19 or so i went back to using they/them (and eventually he/him) and changed my name again because even though i like doing 'feminine' things, i don't want to be seen as a woman.
tldr: i was conditioned by transphobic/terf rhetorics to think that i was being trans the 'wrong' way so i couldn't be trans at all, so i believed i must actually be a girl if i still wanted to do 'feminine' things. nowadays i am a transmasc who does feminine things because i don't give two shits about what any transmed prick thinks of me anymore.
#ramble#ok to reblog btw i'm fine with this being shared#this was meant to be a short version but this is just the whole story whoops#sorry i realised the way i phrased it sounded like i'm the detrans you see in the news#i'm Technically a detransitioner because a lot of detrans stats are people who go on to RETRANSITION#because detransition is often because of social stigma and not because you realised you weren't trans#so anyway. terfs are cancer and if you don't think their bs is harming children you're wrong#i know it's easy to say 'you should've used your brain and realised those people were wrong'#but like. when you're 16 you're SO impressionable. even if you think you aren't#especially when you're watching people who have been transitioning longer than you and you assume they know everything#i was in my mid-late teens when 'transtrender' videos were MASSIVE and i believed it!!! and i was Not nice about those people#all they made me believe was that being trans couldn't be colourful and comfy and fun. it just had to be Pain#i hope everyone who contributed to the 'you need to be this way to be trans' mindset knows how much hurt they've caused#nowadays i don't care. go and be stargender. we have actual problems to deal with not debates about neopronouns#anyway this was long. that's the story

@ainurweek day 1
Eonwe / Relations with men
Eonwe bows before Elros on the island of Numenor which has newly risen from the sea.
As the herald of Manwe he stayed with the Edain to help them establish their new realm close to Valinor. At the dawn of the second age a Maia of Manwe saw the rise of the line of Elros. And at its end Eonwe mourned the land and people brought to ruin by Sauron, who had escaped him during the war of wrath.
#eonwe#elros#ainurweek#i dont think that eonwe is the first who comes to mind when talking about relations between ainur and men#but this part of numenors history really interests me#i think him and elros would have been great partners#elros even names his children after varda and manwe#there had to be a great trust in the powers#headcanon#tar minyatur#numenor#tolkien#ainurweek2024#second age#silmarillion#lotr#fanart

Nico saying that Lewis gives his daughters boxes of presents every Christmas just got caught in my mind.
Imagine you were a mixed race boy born in Hertfordshire, different from everyone else around you. Bullied in school, being raised by your father to compete in a sport where money is very much of essence and you and your family do not have a lot of it. And then you meet this other boy who comes from the kind of life you dream to live one day. You're friends and fierce competitors. You find solace in each other. You visit Monaco for the first time with your friend, dreaming up the life you will have when you make it, when you beat out of the mould that the world thought it could capture you in.
And then you two grow through the ranks and you're at the pinnacle of your sport and you have what it takes to win and the world recognises that you can win. And you win. You win with your friend and fiercest competitor by your side fighting with you for those wins, and this fighting ruins something something that was valuable to both of you when you were still innocent and unsullied by life.
But despite everything that went into the doing and undoing of this relationship, you still realise that this person you once called a friend has a life and family beyond your bitter dynamic. He has children, and children need love and affection and good memories. And you're a better man now so you understand that. So you make sure the kids get gifts on Christmas. And you make sure of it every year. Afterall, if you met someone you loved deeply when you were both kids, wouldn't you feel a pang of nostalgia when they had kids. Wouldn't you try to extend the warmth that you couldn't find for your friend to his children. Afterall, whatever happens during childhood basically remains with you forever.
#and nico's perspective of the same is just#being bullied as a child and being profoundly lonely till you find this friend who is in many ways the yardstick for performance#and even when you go through all this rancidity and the love has almost evaporated down to bare bones politeness#you know there is something that remains deep down#and so he gets your kids Christmas gifts each year#both their childhoods were sites of pain and both of them found something with each other#and lewis honours that by being a positive presence in nico's childrens' lives#albeit from a distance#and of course we're no strangers to how much Nico loves his kids#you can bet if Lewis had kids Nico would do that same#sorry this caught in my heart a little#I knew he had been giving presents for a while and I always thought of that as very beautiful but seeing it on the tl made me remember#man#love haunts you in such peculiar ways forever#brocedes#lewis hamiton#nico rosberg#f1#formula 1

every time I re read GtN I am caught off guard by how serious it is
Like, Gideon spends the first few pages checking everywhere for possibilities for Harrow's skeletons to ambush her. And then she nonchalantly tells Aiglamene that Harrow would do literally anything to hurt her.
You don't really notice it the first time around because of the lighthearted way it's written, but when you know the context for all of it, it becomes uncomfortably clear how intense and dangerous the situation is that Gideon tries so thoroughly to avoid here.
#I would almost go so far as to say there's a dreading hint of 'this could be where she kills me' in between those lines#and it's soo interesting because that's entirely due to Gideon's perspective because she fundamentally doesn't understand Harrow here#tlt#gtn#the locked tomb#gideon nav#harrowhark nonagesimus#I love that dynamic because you never really know which side of the line it falls#because it's obviously something that stems from a childish enmity with childish means#which makes it even if serious at least not life threatening#however one of those children has always been royalty with all the power that entails#and the other has never had anything to lose#and at the point where the story starts those children have grown up somewhat#enough for where a mindlessly hateful traditionally antagonistic relationship could very well shift into something seriously fatal#and I feel like especially Gideon in the beginning tiptoes kind of around that

not surprising but still wild that google added an ai feature to the very top of every single searches that gives incorrect information more often than not. like a beloved restaurant that randomly starts topping all of their food with cyanide one day for no reason. no you’re not allowed to ask them to not top your dish with cyanide this is the future of food
#it’s not like they needed to either? the google overview based on the first couple of results was already fine?#versus this one that just does not work at all#googles been kind of becoming worse for a long time but this is like crazy. i am fearful for elderly people and young children googling now#hell even just like. stupid people lmao#on the bright side tho#i feel like the biggest downfall of this form of ai is going to be the fact that the tech bros let it out to the public before it was good#theyre slowly ruining any goodwill that the average person would’ve had#so hopefully when it is good it’s a) already going to have support for regulation and/or b) people will hate it so much they’ll avoid it#is that too optimistic? probably but a girl can dream

Abusive parents will go 'Oh yeah? Well I had it worse! My parents were bad!' and it's like, Oh? We can acknowledge that your parents were bad? You can say that? You can say they treated you very badly? You know this and are aware of this?
And yet, when raising your own child, you used their methods and decided that you are the victim here? That it's okay because they've done it 'worse'? You're comfortable telling your children that they're paying for however you've been treated, and that you specifically had your children to expose them to all of the bad things that happened to you? The world feels fair to you if your own children are suffering? That's where you take your power?
Your parents were bad and you know this, so you went ahead and became a bad parent on purpose, and you're thinking you're the victim in all this?
#abusive parents#feeble excuses#if you know your parents were bad then you know they treated you bad#so by logic you would not use the same measures to raise your own kids while whining how you had it worse#nobody believes you btw#you don't even know what your children are going trough and what environment they're exposed#they're growing in a different world than you were raised in#what you do to them will feel different from what's been done to you#but you don't care about all that do you#you only care about having those 5 simple words to excuse everything you've done#i've had it worse#anyone in the world can have a traumatic time living in this world#and none of it gives them the right to take it out on children#children are not sacrificial altairs to make people feel better about their past#children are the future and you are taking that future away from them#disgusting victim blaming mongrels

'why does show joffrey look like that he's supposed to be handsome' no sorry there's so many ugly/not conventionally attractive characteracters being prettywashed I think the rare cases of deyassification are based as hell. I like his weird little face ❤
#.txt#someone said his show version makes people less charitable to sansa and like. genuinely whats so different except that he looks a bit weird#like ok it does take him a bit longer to be nice to her again post trident but like she wasnt deterred when he tried to kill her sister so#people would blame sansa for trusting him even if he had mind control powers let's be honest#'I would have simply been unaffected due to my superior gigabrain. skill issue'#I do think people would be slightly more understanding if he looked like his book ver but that's a them problem#also like she's gonna be conditioned to think he's attractive no matter what bc he's the prince lol#its like when dream face revealed and all his stans were like omg he's so hotttttt 😍 I dont mean he looks like dream im just saying#people can gaslight themselves into finding any random guy attractive. especially children#and it's not like he's hideous or anything come on#imagine if sansa was like hmmm the rich young prince im supposed to marry isnt looksmaxxed enough. pass

you don't get it. she loved him once. she didn't have a maester, she had a brother. he sold their mother's crown to keep them fed. he said Dany, please. she loved him, once.
#I feel like the tragedy of viserys and dany is they really might have been close and loved each other normally of they'd been allowed to#barristan says viserys always seemed aerys's son but when has westeros had any sort of developed understanding of mental illness#dany knew him best and she said the last kindness left him when he sold their mother's crown#it begs the question how much kindness there would have been if they hadn't been children forced out on the streets#a brother dany says never forgave her for their mother's death giving her birth.#but who told her stories and brought her up while his own mental faculties were wearing thin#it doesn't feel like tywin keeping tyrion based on lannister name and blood alone#she loved him once.#that viserys had some inherent lecherous evil in him doesn't feel in line with that to me#it doesn't feel in line with dany please#if ned is the good guardian to tywin's bad one viserys was just a boy who found himself in that role under the worst possible circumstances#and who under duress of those awful circumstances and his own undiagnosed mental illness#(for which he never got any help or support)#failed his sister very very badly#leaving daenerys to feel the hole of his absence even when he was still alive#because she loved him. once#lol anyway!#asoiaf#daenerys targaryen#viserys targaryen

So do you guys actually think that Jason's entire story, relationship to the others, and philosophy amounts to him being a rebellious teen who wants his dad's attention? Like are you 100% serious? I thought you were joking about that but too many of you are saying it with your whole chest.
And what the fuck is this "Bruce antagonizing Jason is fanon!" Shit I've been seeing? You guys are aware that a parent can love their kid and still be a shit parent right? I know you guys don't want to fathom the thought that maybe your blorbo might also occasionally have to face responsibility for consistently endangering children but let's not start being delusional now.
Bruce does love his kids, that doesn't mean that he hasn't hurt them. And I'd also argue that for the most part he feels in the right for it, and he's said multiple times that he believes it's for their own good, so you can't even argue that he's sorry about it. It's okay for you guys to admit that your PERSONAL INTERPRETATION of the character wouldn't do that but don't sit here and pretend that it's not a facet of the source.
#you can argue meta until you're blue in the face#but I can't ignore the ingerent abuse of Batman and Robin because DC is always drawing attention to it#Stephanie and Jason directly died because of Robin#Stephanie wanted to impress Bruce to live up to his idea of a sidekick and prove her worth#Sheila only sold Jason out when she found out he was Robin#Damians life certainly got worse when he became Robin/moved with Bruce#if you bring up racist retcons I'll kill you btw#how are we supposed to read children dying and being tortured and traumatized constantly#and just ignore that these are children#I can ignore the reality of child sidekicks in campy light hearted early comics#but if DC wants to deal with serious topic they're going to have to deal with some serious implications too#Also that post that's going around about “Bruce loves Jason and it's Jason who's causing all the animosity” is such bullshit#what the fuck are you even talking about#and let's not act like Jason is the ONLY one at fault and Bruce is just a poor loving father#is Bruce spreading that utter bullshit about Jason's death and who he was not an act of violence?#was he not the one to cast the first stone by disgracing Jason's legacy and using a version of him that never existed as a cautionary tale#and I know some of you are going to argue that with most of the kids there's nothing Bruce could have done to stop them#and this is the one time in which I will ignore all the very real ways that he could have#but I still think that in universe the characters have a right to be angry about it#Jason always since his debut as red hood been a vehicle for calling out Bruce#he's so heavily steeped in meta narrative because his run is when they started dealing with the real BAD cases#The Cult Garzonas onscreen murders were getting more common#AND NO ONE CAN CONVINCE ME THAT BEING ROBIN DIDN'T MAKE JASON'S LIFE WORSE#THERE WAS NO REASON TO MAKE HIM ROBIN HE COULD HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY AS JUST A NORMAL KID#But Bruce made having a place in his home synonymous with being Robin because the narrative dictated it had to be#what was homeless orphan Jason going to do? say no?#it was basically coercion and it doomed him and he has every right to blame the adult that put him in that position#dc#bruce wayne critical#bat family

something something, the symbolism of how Stan and Ford were only able to see eye to eye when they were wearing one another’s clothes.
something about Ford in Stanley’s clothes, staring at his mirror image in his, and finally seeing Stan for who he has always been— a hero. who saved his family with his bare hands simply because of how much he loved them. a hero who has been protecting that family since he was a child and hasn’t ever stopped. Something about it finally clicking to Ford in that moment.
#gravity falls#stanley pines#stan pines#stanley pines you will always be famous#stanley pines meta#stanford pines#gravity falls meta#ford pines#i don’t even fully know what i mean here except that it’s hitting me hard in the chest#and if you think about it#stanley had been wearing ford’s suit for years#thirty years#ford never thought anyone understood him but stanley has ALWAYS understood him#but it took ford until that moment#i think#to finally see his brother clearly#not for any lack of love for him#but i think probably just because of his own blindness and self preservation that resulted in a lot of self centeredness#ford didn’t take a lot of time to look out into the world#he was too internally focused#for understandable reasons#but it meant he failed to see stanley clearer than his surface perception of him#that got clouded and muddled over the years#i’d argue that they perfectly understood one another as children#but then ford felt betrayed and he closed himself off#and limited stanley to the hurt he caused in one moment#and held onto that too tight#not to mention then bill’s influence#and 40 years apart from one another#anyway

Thinking about Elizabeth Woodville as a gothic heroine is making me go insane. She entered the story by overturning existing social structures, provoking both ire and fascination. She married into a dynasty doomed to eat itself alive. She was repeatedly associated with the supernatural, both in terms of love and death. Her life was shaped entirely by uncanny repetitions - two marriages, two widowhoods, two depositions, two flights to sanctuary, two ultimate reclamations, all paralleling and ricocheting off each other. Her plight after 1483 exposed the true rot at the heart of the monarchy - the trappings of royalty pulled away to reveal nothing, a never-ending cycle of betrayal and war, the price of power being the (literal) blood of children. She lived past the end of her family name, she lived past the end of her myth. She ended her life in a deeply anomalous position, half-in and half-out of royal society. She was both a haunting tragedy and the ultimate survivor who was finally free.
#elizabeth woodville#nobody was doing it like her#I wanted to add more things (eg: propaganda casting her as a transgressive figure and a threat to established orders; the way we'll never#truly Know her as she's been constantly rewritten across history) but ofc neither are unique to her or any other historical woman#my post#wars of the roses#don't reblog these tags but - the thing about Elizabeth is that she kept winning and losing at the same time#She rose higher and fell harder (in 1483-85) than anyone else in the late 15th century#From 1461 she was never ever at lasting peace - her widowhood and the crisis of 1469-71 and the actual terrible nightmare of 1483-85 and#Simnel's rebellion against her family and the fact that her birth family kept dying with her#and then she herself died right around the time yet another Pretender was stirring and threatening her children. That's...A Lot.#Imho Elizabeth was THE adaptor of the Wars of the Roses - she repeatedly found herself in highly anomalous and#unprecedented situations and just had to survive and adjust every single time#But that's just...never talked about when it comes to her#There are so many aspects of her life that are potentially fascinating yet completely unexplored in scholarship or media:#Her official appointment in royal councils; her position as the first Englishwoman post the Norman Conquest to be crowned queen#and what that actually MEANT for her; an actual examination of the propaganda against her; how she both foreshadowed and set a precedent#for Henry VIII's english queens; etc#There hasn't even been a proper reassessment of her role in 1483-85 TILL DATE despite it being one of the most wildly contested#periods in medieval England#lol I guess that's what drew me to Elizabeth in the first place - there's a fundamental lack of interest or acknowledgement in what was#actually happening with her and how it may have affected her. There's SO MUCH we can talk about but historians have repeatedly#stuck to the basics - and even then not well#I guess I have more things to write about on this blog then ((assuming I ever ever find the energy)#also to be clear while the Yorkists did 'eat themselves alive' they also Won - the crisis of 1483-85 was an internal conflict within#the dynasty that was not related to the events that ended in 1471 (which resulted in Edward IV's victory)#Henry Tudor was a figurehead for Edwardian Yorkists who specifically raised him as a claimant and were the ones who supported him#specifically as the husband of Elizabeth of York (swearing him as king only after he publicly swore to marry her)#Richard's defeat at Bosworth had *nothing* to do with 'York VS Lancaster' - it was the victory of one Yorkist faction against another#But yes the traditional line of succession was broken by Richard's betrayal and the male dynastic line was ultimately extinguished.

Oddly for a sequel show, Cobra Kai is putting far too much weight on the original TKK film. They keep acting like this is teenage Johnny and teenage Daniel going toe to toe, but these are adult men. They should have lived adult lives and processed adult experiences and emotions before getting to the beginning of Cobra Kai’s story. Why can’t Johnny ever seem to grow up in a meaningful way? Why does Daniel keep chucking his healthy wealthy family life to the side to get involved in random ass karate shit? Why do they refuse to truly mend the fences between them? I understand showing trauma affecting them and TKK being an important moment in their lives, but the show acts like that was THE important moment in their lives. Nothing was bigger or more life changing than that (basically a high school karate tournament that happened one time) even though they’re decades past it. These characters aren’t truly allowed to be adult men grappling with the past, they’re written like stunted teens who are simply walking through some strange daydream life where they’ve got kids and jobs. And if the writers don’t ever treat them like adults, they’re never going to act like it nor will they ever grow in meaningful and permanent ways.
#I get Cobra Kai is fundamentally about that trauma and about TKK#but they keep acting as if neither character has thought about anything else other than it or just repressed it like crazy#be real with me. it was high school. crazy life changing shit happens then but the fact is crazy life changing shit keeps happening#they write Daniel as if his marriage was less important than TKK. his children his business his social life everything else#and Johnny was originally written as a man who let that trauma crush his life#but really had the power to move forward because HE NO LONGER WAS THAT KID!#the whole point at the beginning was Johnny having to reconcile himself with the fact that TKK is over. has been for decades#and he can’t live there anymore. there’s not space for adult man Johnny in that story#but then they kept writing it like TKK was the pinnacle of Daniel and Johnny’s lives#which is crazy!#and then only focused on that#even though there were serious important plot lines like Johnny neglecting Robby or Daniel repressing his emotions#or that violence left to fester is violence that will be fostered#these are adult men. make them act like it for fuck’s sake#cobra kai#ck#ck criticism#tkk#the karate kid#johnny lawrence#daniel larusso
