Genin!Sasuke x reader fluff

Just wanted to write that … I rewatched the Original Naruto and became addicted again. Why Sasuke ? No idea… I just became creative with his character…

He cheers you up and I hope you like it…

The crickets are noisy as they chirp in the summer night. You are sitting close to the lake, your arms crossed and your head down in your knees. You want to shut up your surroundings. Tears are flooding down your cheeks like a waterfall and won’t stop. The images of your teammates as they got killed, are playing in a loop. I doesn’t matter if your eyes are closed or open. In the end, how you hold your friends head in your own hands was humiliating and daunting. A never-ending Nightmare. Your fingertips are clenching together as the fabric of your clothing knitters together. 

You passed the Chunin Examen Test of the second part yet you feel that you lost everything. This Orochimaru just killed you closest friends and now you are the only survivor of this team. Actually, you shouldn’t pass the second part of the Chunin Examen. Then, the Hokage let you still pass because you already had the scrolls, make it to the tower and helped other teams getting beaten up by a team from Otogakure. However, it doesn’t feel like you won. You don’t even know if you should continue…

Suddenly, you hear steps on the wooden ground of this dock. You grit your teeth. The steps stops directly behind you.

„Seriously, Naruto! I already told you to let me be. I just need to be alone. Don’t take it personally.“

Naruto felt with you. He wanted to cheer you up but right now, he just worsen your emotions. Somehow, his constant worrying got on your nerves. You don’t hear him leave.

„None taken…“ You shoulders clench together. That isn’t Narutos voice. Too arrogant and deep. „I am not Naruto.“ He continues. After his second phrase, you recognize this voice after he mouthed Naruto. Sasuke Uchiha. „Moreover, I am sitting always here…“ You sigh loud. He is not lying, you saw him often here. He walks beside you as he sits down. 

„What do you want, Sasuke?“ You growl more than you wanted when he blurt his words out. „Thank you for protecting us. I heard from Sakura what you did…. And like said, normally I used to sit here…“ he shows you a side smile but you kept your head down in a frown. You shortly inhale as you recall the moments in the forest. Sasuke was unconscious so like Naruto. She was alone being harassed and attacked. You helped her even after your comrade were killed from Orochimaru. Rock Lee joined your attempt but got knocked out after he used this forbidden Jutsu. You just felt feral at that time and were ready to kill anything…. Thank god, Team 10 arrived and Shikamaru Nara, an old friend of yours could calm you down. 

„I… I .. didnt do anything you should thank Team 10 for helping us…“ Again tears dwell in your eyes. 

„It is not easy to thank you, what?“ Huh? „Before Rock Lee and Team 10 arrived Sakura was alone and even you have lost your Team members you had enough will to help her. I just thanking you for this. And… I am sorry for your loss.“ The last phrase he spokes out, were very soft.

„I am pathetic..“ You mumble as you couldn’t look up.

„….?“ Sasuke seems clueless why you insult yourself as you tell him more. „I cry here over two people and you lost your whole clan.“  The silence is killing you until Sasuke starts to talk again.

„You can not compare this. You shouldn’t align with it…. It is different and still tremendous to lose someone close to you…..“ He seems to be deep in thought. There is silence as you try to keep you tears in. 

„I going to kill this man Orochimaru!“ Sasuke bits his lip as he looks forward and touch his curse mark.

Even you peek out of your arms into the water as you agree with him. You think that tears stopped long enough so that your face didn’t show any clues of crying.

„Me too!“ You look forward determined. He smirks as his eyes looks to the side to your clutched form. 

„So finished with the crying?! You are all red and puffy!“

You gasped and pout. „I wanna see you crying all day and night, how you look! Definitely, not good like now.“ He rest his head sassy in his hand. „So… I look good right now…“ He teases you as you blush. Okay, you found him attractive yet you are not a fangirl! Yes, the night and moonlight add something to his charm. „I won’t answer this to fill more confidence in you….“

He scoffs as he looks from you angered  form away to the lake again.

„Then, let’s agree to defeat him together.“ His voice again softer but serious. 

„Yes.“ You simply state and breath in so out. You stand up slowly and stretch your body. Then, you slap your own cheeks as you out of nowhere jump into the water. Sasuke is surprised and shocked as he watches you.

„What the hell?!“ He kneels over the water to have a look where you were. Did you really just jump into..? As you cut surface again, he calms down his nerves. You swim to the dock and rest your hands-on the shore while looking up into his eyes.

„Sasuke!“ You shout out determined to him to gain his attention. „Huh?!“ He seems a bit out of it.

„I decided to continue the Chunin Exam for the sake of my comrades!“ You boldly state towards him. He smirks as he sees in your face confidence and hope. 

„Thats good to know. Yet, you know that is possible you have to fight me?! Are you ready for that? I am not going easy on you.“

„Hah!“ You wave his taunt off. „You really think that you are a big shot, huh?“You grin as you tease back.

„ I shall remind you that I was better than you in the academy…“ „The academy is long over…“ „Don’t take you mouth too full now, Y/N!“ He closes his eyes confidently with a smirk. He is sure that he can beat you.

You slowly got into position to grab his collar and draw it dangerously close. You hear him gasp when your lips almost touches and directly have eye contact. Maybe, you lips touches slightly when you counter back. „Same goes for you!“ His eyes flicker over your wet lips. For a moment he wants to say something as he stutter a bit. He can not control his flustered state. His cheeks burn red and he breathes hastily.  This surprise of you and the weird desire to touch our lips with his own. How could you be so bold suddenly and draw him down towards you. Moreover, you grin evilly as you see that you got him cornered. All these emotions last only seconds when he… „Huh I- What are you-?!“ Splash!

 … is dragged by you into the water. You laugh out loudly and get fast out or you wanted too. As he arises from the water, you look behind you and just stretch out your tongue. 

„If you are like this in the Examen, I think I can handle you….“ Before you can stand tall on the dock, you feel something grasping your ankle and got drawn back. ‚Oh no!‘ You yell in your head. Even so, you control your Chakra at your feet to stand on the water. Sasuke notices this as he flipped you backwards and you got dizzy while landing into the deep wet again. You dive up and splash him annoyed. „What was that?!“

„Huh, Payback.“ He said cocky. You roll your eyes.

„Wait…“ he focused on your face. „What is it?!“ „Your Headband is gone…“ You touch your forehead and yeah somehow the knot got loose. You directly look into the water yet the dark night doesn’t  help you out with the sight.

„I can’t see it. Damn it.“ The problem is… The lake here isn’t shallow at all. So you have to find it before it hit the ground. You shrieks when Sasuke points out „There!“ And dive rapidly into the water. You can only wait until seconds pass. The moonlight comes out behind some clouds and gifts you a slight chance to see movements under water. Does he got it? You hate to wait and can not do anything. Suddenly, the water brakes and Sasuke inhales loudly. „You got it?!“

He closes one eye and rises one arm out of the water where he hold your headband.

„Yay. You are the be-!“ Ugh. 

„What am I?“ He teases and shakes your headband.

„Thank you, you did well and please hand it over…..“ You spread your arms out.

„Hmm…“ He rises his arms higher as you were about to grab it. „What?!“ 

„What is my thanks?“ He playfully looks away.

„Woah! I didn’t take you for this kind of play. What do you want?“ The water is not freezing could yet the summer night is a bit chilly and just standing makes you shiver a bit. You begin to drench the water out of your hair while pouting. He got you in the end.

His eyes flicker for moment again to you lips as he shyly blush. „I don’t want anything..“ He mumbles bashfully. You cluck your tongue again annoyed. This boy drives your emotion from ‚Oh how nice‘ to ‚He pisses me off‘ again to ‚Oh, how adorable and than to ‚What the fuck does he want.‘ „Seriously….!“ You just swim towards him and try to catch your headband which is still in air. 

„Hey, we didn’t agree..“ He starts his sentence while having his arms stretched out  behind his head and you force yourself onto him. You have an annoyed expression on your face and focus on getting your precious headband back. What is he playing anyway, you thought. He is so out of character. Then, you feel yourself losing the balance and almost fell backwards. You climbed halfway on him. Out of reflex, he grasp your thighs tightly and your hold yourself on his shoulders. Your and Sasuke nose brushing together as you feel your ears getting burning red. You begin to stutter when you search words for distraction. Why is he looking like he is about to-! 

„Hmpf.“ The Uchiha boy close the distance and kissed you lips. How could he not? The whole time, he was drawn to your lips and as they got again so close, he saw the wet lips getting shine upon the moonlight. There was nothing holding him back. (Wait is that not a song xD)

You deepen the kiss when your arms slide over his shoulders and your hands wander over his neck into his hair.  He shivers as your hands rush over his curse mark to his hair. Definitley, one of his sensitive area. You relaxed firstly because he is really warm, secondly  all the mixed emotion you felt from frustration, depression, sadness, it makes you feel at ease in his arms and thirdly his kiss feels just so good. His arms wander  from your thighs to your back. Slowly, you apart from his lips to breathe again. He touches your forehead with his.

„Is it wrong when I kiss you again?“ He breathes with half lidded eyes. You want to say a ‚No‘ but you kiss him already. Now, his hand reaches towards your head to push you more passionately on him. You can only focus one one thing and your thinking stopped. Or you thought so. Then, you push yourself away hastily. „You still got my headband?!“ As nothing roams in your brain, this just emerged up.

„Really, now?“ He shows you his left hand which he still had it. „Thank god. Sorry I thought you lost it because of all this.“ He chuckles when he flicks your forehead. „Ow, Why?!“ You hold your forehead with a hand and pout at him. „Give me more credits.“ He says with a smile. A kind smile. Without sensing  your assault you dip his body under the water as you press you weight on his shoulders. This time, you make it to the shore and hold your arms while you shiver. 

 „Sure, you got me here…“ He groans while climbing out of the lake. Before you wanted to say good bye, you kiss his cheeks. 

„Thank you for cheering me up…“ „You know I didn’t kiss you only to cheer you up.“ „I know but the reason you came here..:“ „Like I said, Its my spot…“

„Yeah, Yeah it is almost morning, Idiot. Don’t tell me you-! AHHH“ Again he pushed your sideways from the shore. With one eye open and a smirk, he just wanna know if you make it back unharmed.

„If I had lost my headband again, I would kill you!“ 

„Show that attitude in the Chuunin Examen, cry baby.“

„I am so gonna beat you!“

„Like hell.“

„I know your weakness, Uchiha!“ Before, he can counter you back, you tease him with stroking his neck by your finger tips. He shutters while grasping his shoulder. 

„Wha-!“ His voice trembles. 

„You really thought I wouldn’t notice-ACHOO!“

„Get your butt better home and take off your wet clothing before you are disqualified because you are sick.“

„Yeah,….“ You groan. „Can I get a good-bye ki-!“ You playfully ask him when two finger move towards your forehead and push you a bit  back.

„Next time, Y/N, when you are not totally drenched.“ With red cheeks you brush you forehead pouting as you look to him up. „Okay.“ You turn your heels and leave the boy in the dark night of the streets.

„Good night, cry baby!“ You glare at him back while stucking your tongue out.

Out of sight, the Uchiha starts to sneeze ,too.

„Damn it, it is fucking cold!“ He embraces himself while walking to his lonely home.

“Why don’t you come to my office later so we can go through the different internship options?”

“Sure. Is 4 ok?”

“Perfect. See you there”.

You left your class ready to pick up some food on your little break before the last two lessons of the day. Finally, after two years in uni, it was time to look at potential internships. You knew that was what could really get you a job after uni, not just the good grades.

At 3.55, always punctual, you arrived at your professor’s office. And when you got inside, you noticed all the pieces of paper on her desk.

“Hi. Sorry I’m early”.

“It’s ok, sit down, please. So, we’ve got a lot of options here for you. Let me tell you about them”.

She went through all the possible internships and it was a bit overwhelming for you. You expected two or three…not fifteen.

“Roger really wants this one but I think you’d be a better candidate”.

That caught your attention. Roger had been your nemesis during the whole time you were in uni. Always fighting to see who got the best grades and overall being way too competitive. So…the idea of taking the internship he wanted was appealing.

“It’s for Barça. They need someone for their media team. You know, to script and help film the videos for social media”.

“Why do you think I’m a good candidate? If you don’t mind me asking. It’s just that I’m not a football fan”.

“I know, but you are the most creative. Your ideas for assignments have always been the most original and I think you’d fit right in. Football is secondary. They won’t be expecting you to know about it. Just to create content the fans like”.

There wasn’t much time to think about it so you quickly thought about all the pros and cons for each option. And even if you weren’t too proud to say it, the biggest pro ended up being pissing your enemy off.

“I’ll take the Barça job”.

Three weeks later, you were in the Barça offices, being told everything that was expected from you and it was a lot. Did they realise you were just an intern and still had to do a lot of things for uni?

“Some players are a bit more…complicated”.

“You mean they are divas”, nothing you didn’t expect.

“I meant shy. Divas are great for this, actually. They love talking on camera. The shy ones…”.

“Who’s the one you struggle with the most?”, you asked, now curious.

“Gavi. And we know him being in the videos will give us so many more views but he just doesn’t want to do them. He gets too uncomfortable and we don’t want to force him to do something he doesn’t want to do”.

Even if you weren’t a big football fan, you knew Gavi. Who in Barcelona didn’t? But it surprised you to find out he was shy. He didn’t look it on the pitch.

“I can help with that”, your statement was met with a raised eyebrow. “What?”

“If you get Gavi to be in more than one video, I’ll give you a real contract. Not just an internship”.

You laughed nervously. He was joking, right?

“I’m not joking. I know you have great references from teachers but those of us who’ve known him since he was a little boy can’t get him to do it so I’m not sure how you’d be able to".

“I’ll find a way”.

If there was something you loved, it was a challenge.

For your first couple of days, you didn’t really get to bring your ideas to the table but to see how everyone else worked. You tried to absorb as much information as possible.

“So…what would you like to do for your first video?”, asked one of your new colleagues.

“I thought a challenge could be fun. There is a Champions League match coming so how about a language one? We have a Danish speaker in the team, so we can get another player to try and say something in his language. It’s always fun to see them getting it all wrong”.

“Sounds great. We haven’t used Andreas much for videos either so good idea. Who do you think should be the other player?”

“Gavi”.

Did he really snort? “We can’t get him to speak Spanish and you want him to speak Danish. Are you a secret Madrid fan?”

“No, I just think it’s time for him to do more videos. I’ll sort it out”.

“You keep dreaming big. I guess it’s good for our profession”.

All these comments were getting to you. How hard could it be to get Gavi to film a video?

“Ga…”, should you call him by his nickname or his real name? Maybe nickname is better. “Gavi! Hi! Could you come here a second?”

He turned to look at whoever was talking to him while he was on his way to the dressing room. That voice…he didn’t recognise it.

“Who is…hi. Sorry, who are you?”

“I’m new here. I’m working for the media team and need you to do a video for us so I wanted to let you know in person. Just in case you had questions about it”.

“I don’t…have you not been told I don’t like being in videos?”

You realised then how shy he really was. And you actually found that so cute.

“I have. But I think it’ll be good for you to do them more often. So you get used to it. Do you like Christensen?”

“Sure. He’s really nice”.

“Amazing! You’re doing a video with him tomorrow at 2. See you there!”

The option of not giving him time to refuse wasn’t perfect but it’d have to do for now. You left the area with a little smile on your face. But because you didn’t stay to see his reaction, you didn’t see Gavi was smiling too. He didn’t know where you came from all of a sudden but he was intrigued. And if filming a video was the way to get to know you…well, maybe it was time to face his fears.

“He’s actually here”, said one of the cameramen, making you look at him.

“Who?”

“Gavi”.

You couldn’t hide your smile when you turned to look at him. He looked so out of place. And then you noticed some movement by the door.

“Who’s there?”

“My stupid teammates who have been mocking me since they found out I’m filming a video”, said Gavi, rolling his eyes.

“Do you want me to kick them out? I can look very scary”.

He just laughed and shook his head. And you left him there to keep on getting everything ready for the video. Gavi kept looking at you moving around the room and then noticed his phone buzzing.

[Barça groupchat]: now we know why you said yes to the video 🤣

He shook his head again and locked the phone, taking a final look at his teammates who left laughing at him.

“Ok boys, sit there and here you have the script, Andreas. We just need you to read the sentences so Gavi can copy you and then guess what it means”.

“Right”, said Gavi, swallowing and wondering why he got himself in this mess.

“I’ll go easy on you, don’t worry”, laughed Andreas.

And so they started to film the video. The little intro you had written for them took longer than you thought and you ended up asking Andreas to say the lines instead to see if he was more comfortable in front of the camera.

“Stop worrying”, you told Gavi, touching his shoulder. “Just forget about the camera. You’re here with your teammate, who you get on well with. Imagine you’re chatting in the dressing room before the match. It’s just you two here”.

“And you”.

“Do you want me to leave?”, you joked.

“No. I want you to stay”.

Now it was your time to be nervous, feeling his intense gaze on you. But you just nodded and left to go back behind the camera.

“Hvordan har du det?”, said Andres, making Gavi stare at him with wide eyes.

“Oh God…can you do it word by word?”

And so Andreas did, slowly pronouncing each word and waiting for his teammate to repeat them.

“That wasn’t bad. What do you think it means?”

“No clue”, laughed Gavi.

“It just means how are you. Ok, next one: Hvad hedder du?”

“Which means?”

“What’s your name”, answered the Danish defender. “And then you would answer Jeg hedder and your name. So for you it’s Jeg hedder Gavi”.

“Jeg hedder Gavi. I’ll say that at the match”.

Everyone in the room laughed and Gavi turned to look at them. He had almost forgotten they were there. But when he saw you smiling, his nerves were back.

“That was great, guys. People will love the video. Thank you”.

Gavi approached you while you were making sure all the footage was ok. “Thank you, for the advice. It really helped”.

“Do you think you’ll do more videos in the future then?”

“I guess. If you’re here helping, maybe”.

You smiled at that. See? It wasn’t that hard to get him to film a video.

“I’ll take that as a compliment”.

“It was”.

That stare again…it was making you blush. “Then promise me you’ll film a video with Pedri so everyone can shut up about it”.

“I’ll think about it”, he said, but his smile said he’ll do it. If it meant spending more time with you, he will film as many videos as you wanted him to. But hopefully, he would just have to speak Spanish on the next one.

The weeks passed and your crush on Gavi kept growing more and more every day. He was always trying to find ways to see you most days, even if he still hadn’t been asked to film another video.

When you were gone for two days, because of your uni exams, he panicked thinking you were gone. And seeing his overreaction when you were finally back didn’t help with the crush. Because…could he possibly feel the same way about you? You didn’t allow yourself to daydream much about it but the idea was still there.

“Gavi!”

“Pablo”.

“What?”

“Stop calling me Gavi, my friends call me Pablo”.

“Your teammates don’t”, you said, confused. He seemed to be friends with many of them.

“It’s different. They are football friends”.

“And I’m not?”

That stumped him. What were you? He couldn’t really put a proper label on how he saw you.

“Just call me Pablo”.

“Ok…Pablo”, you said dramatically. “I need that video with Pedri so no more excuses. It’s happening”.

“What do I get in return?”

“The satisfaction of knowing you’re making your fans very happy?”

He shook his head playfully. “Not enough. Come to the match with me”.

“The match? Of course I’m going, I need to get content from it. And you’ll be playing. Have you hit your head again?”

“Not that match. The Barça Athletic match from tonight. None of the boys are going and I don’t want to be alone. So you can come with me”.

He actually didn’t know if any of the boys were going but hoped they weren’t or it’d be hard to explain.

“So I’m like…20th choice?”, you laughed.

First choice, actually. “Pleeeeasse, come with me”.

“Ok. But you’re doing the video”.

“I’ll do all the videos you want”.

“Be careful making those promises”.

A few hours later, you were getting ready for the match. What should you wear? Gavi had only ever seen you wearing Barça clothes but this wasn’t a date, right? And it was a match, you couldn’t dress up too much. And if it wasn’t a date, why did you care so much about what you were wearing?

“Where are you going?”, asked your sister, getting into the room.

“A match”.

“You’re working today? I thought the match was tomorrow”.

“It’s not work. I’m going to watch one”.

“You’re going to watch football?”

“Yeah, I was invited to go…”.

“Who invited you?”

You didn’t answer right away but your sister knew you well. And the way you were blushing was very telling.

“Just someone from work”.

“Someone from the media team?”, she tried first.

“No”.

“A player?”

“I need to go”, you said, trying to leave the room but she stopped you grabbing your arm.

“Which one?”

“It’s not a date. It’s just me going to a match. I’m trying to learn about football”.

“Sure…which one?”

“Gavi”.

“And you’re wearing that?”

Thank you for the boost of confidence, you thought.

“It’s not a date”.

“Right”, she said winking at you, “not a date. But let’s pretend it is and dress like you’re going to one”.

She helped you pick an outfit that was cute but not too much for the place you were going to. And after wishing you good luck, you left to go to the stadium. The nerves got worse the closer you got there but when you saw Gavi, looking so cute with his hood on, you relaxed. It was just him, you’d be fine.

“I almost didn’t recognize you with that disguise on”.

“It works sometimes”, he said, looking down embarrassed.

“Really?”

He ignored your jokes and told you to follow him so you could go to your seats.

Once the match started, you both concentrated on watching the players. Gavi murmured things every once in a while and it took you a second to understand he was telling the players what to do. So cute.

At halftime, you decided to stay there while people left to go grab some food or use the toilet. It took him 45 minutes but Gavi finally found the courage to speak to you about…well, you. No work stuff, no football…he wanted to get to know you.

"So, would you like to stay at Barça after the internship? I know you have to finish your degree but I’m sure they would wait for you. Everyone speaks highly of you".

"Not really", you said, making him frown. That’s not what he wanted to hear.

"Why?"

"Can I tell you a secret?", he nodded. "I only took this internship because of a rivalry with another student. I don't even like football".

You laughed but he didn't find it funny.

"Why are you even here then?", he asked, harshly.

“What do you mean? I had to do an internship. And I’m glad I took this. I’ve had fun”.

“Fun…yeah”.

“Pablo, are you ok?”

“I’m great. Just…let’s watch the match”.

“It didn’t start again”, you pointed out, worried by his mood change. You’ve seen him doing that on the pitch but not off it.

“I’m going to the bathroom. I’ll be right back”.

When he got back, he just sat down and barely acknowledged you. And it hurt. What had you done for him to act like this?

“Are you mad at me or something?”, you finally asked, not liking the silence between you two.

“Why are you here?”

"Because you invited me".

"Well, soon you won't have to bother with my invitations or with having to babysit me when I film videos or whatever".

"You're not bothering me and I’m not babysitting you. I’m just doing my job".

“A job you didn’t want to do”, he muttered.

“Just because I didn’t love the idea at first doesn’t mean I don’t love the job now”.

“You don’t love it enough to stay”.

When he finally looked at you, you noticed he looked sad. Was he sad because of you not staying at the club? And what did it mean if he was?

“Do you want me to stay?”, he nodded, looking away. “Do you realize not staying at the club doesn’t have to mean we will never see each other again, right?”

That made him look at you again. “It doesn’t? I’m too used to people coming and going from my life so…that’s not an option I thought of”.

“So, do you want me to stay?”

“I already told you I do. And it’s not just me, other players really enjoy having you around and…”.

“No, Pablo”, you interrupted him. “That’s not what I mean now. I mean, do you want me to stay in your life?”

“Yes”.

I think part of the problem I have (and this may be an unpopular opinion) is all the hopes and opinions and ideas people (fans) have about the new season. And I don’t just mean things like the “mustache = obvious gay Eddie” that’s happening. But thoughts on Bobby, his and Athena’s living situation, Gerrard as captain, let alone Buck, Eddie, and others.

I know a lot of spec is just for fun, but some people take it quite serious. And I know I’m newer to this fandom but sometimes I read serious takes and go “….but that would never actually happen?! I know many of us don’t trust Tim and the writers but realistically that would never be a storyline on a tv show.…that’s a fanfic.”

So I can’t blame you for your pessimism or want to avoid spec. I hope we don’t get a lot of bts stuff either too, because I feel like fans will be trying to (over)analyze everything to figure things out. Only to likely be disappointed because I don’t trust these writers to write/do anything half as creative, original or logical as fans come up with. Expectation is the enemy and I’m afraid a lot of fans have theirs set too high for this season already

i think fandom in general (and i mean any fandom not just 9-1-1) have this tendency to blur the line between cautious optimism/spec and actually convincing themselves of something happening…

i think a lot of people (and if you are one of these people this is NOT a dig at you) still want to have faith that the writers are actually going somewhere with the story, and they do so by speculating and putting actual thought into what the overarching storyline could be but unfortunately after 6 seasons of waiting, i’m getting tired of the whole thing being dragged out.

it’s no longer a will they/won’t they between the characters for me because multiple times they’ve reached the point where they don’t need anymore of that build; the only will they/won’t they is in terms of the writing team actually going somewhere rather than continuing to bait us

i have no issue with spec/theorizing (i may not wanna see it but i just filter out the spec tags) but my issue lies with some of the more popular buddie blogs having this whole “i can sense that buddie is happening” and then treating people who are validly apprehensive towards getting our hopes up like we’re brainless idiots who don’t know what we’re talking about

even though we literally went through the same thing of buddieblr being like “s7 is our year i can FEEL it there is no way they aren’t going canon”….. just for them to not go canon bc the writers (yet again) changed their minds last minute when they got an early renewal and realized “oh- we don’t actually have to commit anymore, we can just keep baiting snd dragging them along— and they technically can’t call it queerbaiting anymore bc buck’s bi now!”

like everything surrounding this season has been screaming to me (NOT anything from oliver and ryan— ive spoken before about how i think they are where we’re at in terms of being strung along by the writers every season) that we are just being baited again.

and as far as the over-analyzing, i’ve seen so many people saying things like “omg oliver and ryan posting candids/photos and tagging each other buddie is obviously happening”……. as if oliver and ryan aren’t friends…. like i fear the two of them posting eacg other doesn’t really mean much if anything when they’ve done that throughout their friendship.

and just because there are some deranged people on the internet spewing hate about them being friends doesn’t mean that their posting is a sign of anything either other than the fact that they’re probably blocking the lunatics and posting each other anyway…. it’s not some gotcha to anyone in the fandom, it’s not a sign that buddie is coming, it’s two castmates being friends, and doing things that friends do all the time

overall, like i said, i have no problem with people (other than myself) engaging in spec and at this point the people who are getting their hopes up will only have themselves to blame if we’re let down again… my issue mainly lies with some of the bigger blogs being dicks to people raising valid concerns over the new season and not trusting the writers when the writers haven’t done anything to earn that trust; in fact having only done things to the detriment of that trust.

A Community Project to Celebrate a Year of r/OnlyFangsBG3

Hello to our lovely community of darlings, blood bags, and precious little Bhaal babes! As you may remember from last week, your hardworking mod team is in the process of putting together a little project to celebrate our one-year anniversary. We wanted to give ourselves a tiny head start (and, yes, maybe drum up some curiosity!) but we are now ready to announce that…

# We Are Assembling an Astarion Coloring Book!

The community we’ve assembled here is so incredibly talented in such an amazing variety of ways, and we thought this could be a fun way for our creative folks to get to come together and share that talent. ~~And. I mean, yes, *some* of us are slightly sad that we don’t have artistic skill but still want to make pretty pictures of the pretty vampire, *okay??*~~

We are currently looking for visual artists to help us by donating their original line art featuring Astarion, which other members of the sub can then color in whatever media they choose and share with all of us! **If you are willing, please send us your submission no later than September 23, 2024.**

While we are soliciting this art, we will be promoting a selection of charities that Neil publicly supports (more on those in a minute). No money will be going through us at any time, we will only be encouraging you all to donate to the charities directly. If you wish, you can then send us (redacted!!) receipts so that we can get a tally of how much the sub has raised and celebrate our community with some altruism. We won’t be requiring anyone to donate in order to get access to the coloring book, just encouraging donations to those causes on his behalf. At the end of the event, our sub’s birthday (September 30), we will share how much we raised and release a link to the compiled coloring book.

Anyway. That’s what we’re looking to accomplish!

Spiderman miles morales (the video game not the comic book)is like a dichotomy between old racism and modern racism. Old racism he experiences at home with his friend and his mom who is designed like its his friends mom rather than his, a light skin hispanic woman rather than one of a more melanated color. And new racism or internalized racism he experiences with his childhood friend who is a light skin african American woman who reinforces his situation amongst the status quo, with pop culture and japanese romanticism displayed in the symbology of her gang. One instance is early in the game where you have to get the power back on to your home for celebration, upon returning, his live in friend distracts his mom and childhood friend by taking a selfie together asking “… is miles still outside?��� To hold up the rues as the picture is taken. Being “inside” and “outside” is an old reference to inside and outside slaves denote by skin tone and looks. Miles being darker toned and male, versus his more fair toned childhood friend who is also attractive. There are more jabs at race in this way throughout the game subtle but visible. Continuing onto his “enemy” the head of roxxon who understands the difference, works with people of all backgrounds and can help him monetize in a way that sheds light on the multiple systems that spread racism that can even divide people within their own racial communities. The point being that he represents universal race based structures that propel society as a whole, as if its a stage or a commercial industry. And he is “right” or “correct”. The point being that without people who take risks in legal industries like him, and people like fisk people who aren’t spiderman or school scholars won’t get a second chance especially in “Marvel’s” New York . The funny part being that the police which in spidermans world normally play a part directly against him, in miles “morales” he is treated very well and loved by the people. There is no fear or menace surrounding him. Which could be another way to promote the fact that world has already decided on racial on cultural factors, being mixed saves him from other stereotypes and real world dramas and that mixing out is a decent outcome overall while stereotypes persist until the plight of the African-American dwindles into non existence over the global stage as aggressions and degradations persist with little to no justice.

While this observation has no insight into the writers intention or desires as far as dialogue and underlying tones. I can only take from face value and multiple playthroughs. And maybe that has caused me to spin the dialogue in a different light. I still feel as though the choice of words is some instances leans into familiar isolatory language.

And regardless of any creative freedoms it blatantly violates the source material making it completely unrelated to the comic books content. The movies are the same. They use the name and rather than create something that can be attributed to the source they sleight it or otherwise create their own narrative that is in no way honest to the characters design. They could have just made a movie and video game about “Silk” or some other “Spiderman” and been just as happy without having to go out of their way to make an example or throw backhanded insults. Because that is a lot of people in both production teams combined to invest so much effort into those projects to ultimately make those statements.

That said the vernacular in the comics is of its own nature. And it probably wouldn’t translate well, but the characters, origin, mannerisms, still fit a Spiderman’s background.

As for my own real world examples, please do not repeat my words out of context, the gravity of them is a conclusion that I have formulated from my own experiences, and out of context they may either be misunderstood or cause similar distresses to one's own outlook or relationships.

If I’m completely honest I’m in a weird place emotionally with the whole Tech thing.

(Rambling under the cut)

On the one hand, I really do think Tech is alive at this point. Not he was alive and they changed their minds, or that they killed him outright and then might change their minds and bring him back later, but that he straight up never died in the first place and that bringing him back after an extended fakeout was always the plan.

How extended the fakeout was planned to be is extremely debatable, but I think that what they did was take him off screen so that Omega’s story could have time to breathe and she could come into her own without Tech taking care of the problem for her. And that the reason we don’t get even the baseline on-screen processing we would normally get with a character death is because he didn’t die in the first place, because while it’s true that most characters who die and come back get that those characters also usually were intended to be dead and then got retconned later due to unrealized potential or popularity; the one main example we have in Star Wars of a character who was ambiguously put off screen with the intent of bringing them back later is Ahsoka, and the processing of her “death” is about as absence as Tech’s. We’re somewhat painfully reminded of Tech’s absence either via a name drop or some kind of visual reference (or CX-2) about once an episode all the way through season three, but never in a way that allows the characters to work through it or finalize anything, and Ahsoka only comes up by name in her capacity as fulcrum or a former Jedi who knew how to do things a couple times before she comes back.

And because of that, because there are other things that seem like the creative team took ideas from Rebels and then pushed them farther (Kallus’s redemption arc stumbled so Tam’s could run so Crosshair’s could fly), and because I never got the impression that they thought of Tech as The Autistic Guy, I suspect that they might have looked at the Ashoka story and decided, hey, let’s do this again, but let’s do it more deliberately and with a lot more set up. Because there is so much set up, right from the first episode, right from the first arc in TCW season seven, potentially. And they could have expected people to react like they did to Ahsoka “dying” at the end of season two of Rebels ; sad, but in a normal way, and with a lot of healthy speculation that people let happen and didn’t go out of their way to shut down. Except the reaction was what it was, and the next year slowly brought out the worst in basically everybody.

Which brings me to the other hand. One the other hand, it still hurt. If it turns out I’m right, I suspect that when all is said and done I won’t have any real problems with the writing and that there’s a lot of potential for a belated Tech return to be so much better than what I originally wanted. But that doesn’t change the fact that I was deeply upset by the finale, or that I actually still get sick to my stomach every time a new reference book comes out because I worry that this time the shoe is going to drop and they’re going to say Tech is dead forever for real. It never does—everything official continues to talk around it in ways they don’t talk about other characters who definitely died—but the emotion is still there.

And the audience management was, of course, atrocious. Atrocious in ways I can sort of logic myself into if it turns out Tech’s alive, and bad in ways I can see certain people missing because everything on certain social media sites is hyperbole all the time, meaning real upset gets lost amongst the yelling, but that almost doesn’t matter. Intent can be one thing, and we can argue about that all day, but the end result is still that people who connected to Tech felt like they were being mocked for investing in a character that was designed to be invested in. That sparked enough animosity built up from being excluded from other things that I almost dropped Star Wars entirely.

So, yeah, I tend to sit in the theorizing about a Tech return space because I really do think Tech’s alive, and I think there’s a lot of potential for a later return to be fantastic. And I don’t spend a lot of time going over what went wrong because I don’t personally find it very helpful. But, emotionally? I’m still upset about it, there are layers to me being upset about it that are directed at the fandom and some directed at Lucasfilm, and I’ll probably be at least a little upset about it until someone puts Tech back. And I’m also emotionally tired and emotionally excited about potential if they do bring Tech back in the next thing and it’s just. A very weird place to be sitting.

I’ve been thinking a lot about LT3 lately. FITF as an overall era feels more true to Louis than anything we’ve seen from him before. From both a business and an artistic sense, it was a foundational reset and fully his own vision.

He didn’t feel the sophomore pressure while making FITF but I think he’ll feel it while making LT3… because there’s going to be comparison back to FITF now and a pressure to repeat or outdo its successes. He has a dedicated fanbase and is an experienced music professional and businessman, so it won’t be a significant career problem. He’ll write great lyrics and great songs no matter what. But I hope it won’t become this thing that drags on his creative courage or his conviction when making decisions.

Yeah, my gut feeling is that Louis will need to find a theme for LT3 that feels original and authentic without being repetitive.

In a way, Louis has the 1D model for instruction. Each album from Midnight Memories to Made In The AM was distinctive, with changes in theme and perspective. We could also see a maturing of songwriting styles for all the guys.

From the way Louis talked, it seems like he’s not in any hurry but wants to marinate a bit. I take that as a sign of confidence too— no pressure to keep up the pace of Walls to FITF. From the projects of his team members, they don’t see an album or tour on the horizon any time soon. I would guess that this willingness to be patient isn’t just about R&R or a new sound, but about (not to be pseudo profound) a search for meaning. On many of his songs, Louis often switches points of view, switching pronouns and even verb tenses, switching time periods. He likes the bird’s eye view.

As for charting, I don’t have any worries. I don’t think Louis worries about it too much either.

I think it’s shameful that Sonic fans gripe and moan about their issues with the series yet they make no effort to let the higher ups at SEGA know their feelings.

You’re no different than them!

I saw your response to that anon. Some fan you are if you’re not going to even try to enact any form of change. You whine about the films and their writing and direction yet you don’t make any effort to let Casey, Miller, and Fowler know your issues. You know, the writers and director? You blather about SEGA’s BS yet by taking no action to let them know your dissatisfaction, you are actively condoning it. As someone who wrote a strongly worded letter to Paramount about the movie design, and to SOA after what happened with Colors Ultimate, I question your proclamation about you being a fan if you’re not even going to take the slightest bit of initiative beyond complaining on places like Twitter.

Even if you think actual action is just a lesson in futility, do you not think at least doing something is better than doing nothing? For shame! A fine “longtime fan” you are.

It amuses me how you approach trying to convince me my voice matters to anyone with power to change anything by calling my answers to people asking for my opinions as “whining”. You’re not doing your argument a favor by framing my honest thoughts as such.

These series of movies have, in about a four years span, made a collective amount of over $700 million against a budget of $80 to $110 million each. Money talks and movies or any creative discipline is no different.

I’ve been working in entertainment for the last almost decade now. I bump elbows often with producers, directors and the like in my career. And I’ve learned a thing or two from this experience thus far and one of the main lessons is this.

Most studio heads and those with authority to greenlit anything do not care about “integrity” in adaptations because they go where the money goes. Apparently, what actually convinced the producers of the first movie to change Sonic’s design wasn’t all the heat they were getting from fans and critics alike. They in fact, expected that. They mostly cared about the opinions of their target audience, which is the young children. And it wasn’t until during test screenings with children who ended up not liking the design and even found it scary, that they THEN gave any serious thought to shifting gears. (I’d provide the source on this but it seems to be tough to find. I’ll share once I can locate it again)

My voice is but one of a many that are drowned out into a single tune of white noise of what the entertainment industry just considers to be from “basement dwelling losers who think too much over this stuff.” Theres little I or most fans can hope to do because it’s been clear for years now that most producers do not care about what fans think of their products. If they can sell their product to a tried and true audience that will haplessly consume whatever they throw in front of them, there’s very little incentive to change for any reason. “Respecting source material” won’t, by their perspective, bring the massive amount of return they want, especially if they can find a way to widen that gap by spending less on budget as is possible to maximize profits.

It’s a messy, terrible, goofed up situation but unfortunately, there’s little anyone can do about it save for just not giving them money anymore. But the likelihood of convincing millions of parents not to take their kids to see a movie about a funny hedgehog boy because it “doesn’t properly adapt the original games” is in the negative chances of happening. You are up against the nature of the average consumer and they do not care for one woman’s tumblr blog of opinions.

And if the audience of people willing to pay money to see it regardless of quality don’t care, why should the production team?

The Last of Us Part II Remastered will feature enhanced graphics, including native 4K output in Fidelity Mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K1 in Performance Mode, an Unlocked Framerate option for TVs that support VRR, increased texture resolution, increased Level-of-Detail distances, improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and more. It all brings the world of Part II’s story to life in richer and smoother detail, from the snow-swept mountains of Jackson, Wyoming to the rainy cityscape of Seattle, Washington, and should make a first visit or a return trip to the complex journeys of Ellie and Abby all the more engrossing.

Part II Remastered takes advantage of the PS5’s power and features in more ways as well, including improved loading times. Part II Remastered also incorporates DualSense wireless controller haptic feedback and adaptive triggers integration to better immerse you in every moment of combat and exploration.

Enhanced Accessibility

We’ve ensured Part II’s award-winning suite of accessibility options returns for the PS5 experience, alongside new additions like the inclusion of Descriptive Audio and Speech to Vibrations, which uses the DualSense controller to indicate character speech and cadence. Grandma originally named me after her little sister who died in early childhood. She was babysitting and blamed herself for that accident.

But that was too dull, widespread, and didn’t felt mine, so my nomatophobia started progressing. Finally I renamed myself after Fairytopia Barbie. Best friend started calling me Elina in 2008, when I was pretty much into Barbie movies fandom. It stuck, I started telling everyone it was my actual name, even at work. Then finally changed it legally and never regretted. 

Barbie movies is everything, yeah.

2. when was the last time you cried?

One weekend ago.

3. do you have kids?

Nope, and it’s most probable I won’t. Already in my 30s, didn’t start wanting/regretting yet. I like kids, kids are like flowers, but let them bloom in someone else’s garden. 

4. do you use sarcasm a lot?

Not really. Being neurodivergent, I have troubles with a sense of humour in general. Many things feel more offensive than funny to me, and if I try it myself, it might be rather insulting than funny... So only with closer friends, I guess.

5. what sports do you play/have you played?

Drinking games, lol.

Not a fan of sports and competitions. I prefer fitness\wellness, where you don’t have to compete or show off. Never liked team games as well. As a kid, I enjoyed tennis or badminton a bit, but again, just for fun.

I do yoga a bit, would like to excercise more though.

6. what's the first thing you notice about other people?

Style, clothing, hair, accessories. Whether they have some fandom\music\etc merch on. This way I might identify them as the ones like me, the ones worth talking to - at first sight.

I can be generally cautious, even hostile, about people, esp males and elders. And in general, I prefer meeting people online or in some safe spaces / meetups where everyone shares some interests/hobbies/fandoms. It’s easier for me.

blue gray. and I do wear color lenses - need them to see things anyway, so why not have fun with colors? Last year I had red ones and wore them casually.

Happy and clever endings that give you food for thought and make you feel feelings - I’ve been a long time Pixar fan, you know.

Some belated thoughts on Boruto manga’s chapter 80

We have officially reached the time skip, a critical juncture for the story. Just at the same time, the manga decided to go on hiatus, almost a month after the anime did the same.

The manga’s absence will be short lived as it returns in August, so the hiatus is clearly for purposes of giving the creative team more time to prepare for the next arc. The anime, meanwhile, might take longer to return as I presume they’ll wait until the manga gets a good amount of material so it doesn’t catch up too quickly.

On the one hand, it makes sense the anime is taking a break given they had reached a point where they had little material left to adapt from the manga and it wasn’t easy to insert any more filler or original arcs. 

On the other hand, I think it would have been better if they had adapted the rest of the Eida arc and finished “part I” on the current manga chapter before going on hiatus. I guess the Studio didn’t know the time skip was about to come or preferred to prioritize the celebration of the OG anime anniversary, given there’s going to be commemorative episodes from it later this year.

As to the content of the actual chapter itself, a few impressions with spoilers after the cut:

Honestly, as critical as this chapter is for the rest of the story, I feel that it was a bit rushed towards the end, but I have to admit I find the set-up intriguing. It’s essentially a twisted mirror of what happened at the end of Naruto’s part I: In the original series, Sasuke willingly abandons Konoha to become a missing nin in pursue of his revenge, while Naruto vows to bring him back and leaves on a training trip in order to become stronger. Here, with everyone’s memories of him altered, Boruto is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and forced to become a missing nin and abandon Konoha, while Kawaki vows to hunt him down and kill him in order to put an end to the Ootsutsuki clan.

Ironically, Sasuke also became a missing nin again but for completely different reasons: This time he helped Boruto escape and will be traveling with him in order to train him and protect him at the behest of Sarada. In a way, that also makes him parallel Jiraiya’s mentorship role in the original series even further. As an aside, him saying that even if he can’t trust his own memories he will always trust his daughter was a nice touch.

As I suspected, all this mess was engineered by Momoshiki himself in an attempt to break down Boruto spirit and take definitive control over his body. But just to show that the apple never falls far from the tree, in spite of how dire is his current situation, Boruto doesn’t let it brought him down and vows to become stronger and eventually return to fix things with Kawaki. I have to say that while the kid didn’t exactly start as one of my favorite Shonen protagonists, he definitely has become one after this chapter.

Eida got a few more points in my book as well, given how she apologized to Boruto for the mess caused by her Omnipotence Shinjutsu and decided to help him a little by refusing to share his location with Kawaki or Shikamaru. We also learn that even if she dies, the effects of her Shinjutsu won’t dispel. I wonder if there’s any possibility of she eventually learning how to control her powers (at least to a certain extent) in order to reverse the damage.

Sarada awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan in response to Boruto’s plight is a massive piece of BoruSara ship teasing, especially if you remember that, in the manga, Sarada didn’t awaken her Sharingan out of trauma or stress like the rest of her clan bur rather out of love: She awakened it specifically due to the excitement of finally meeting her father. I’m not necessarily complaining given I do like the pairing. I’m just extremely wary and already tired of the inevitable shipping wars that will come because this fandom never changes.

Naruto and Hinata are safe and sound, both in a state of unconsciousness akin to suspended animation. Time is stopped in the dimension that Kawaki sent them, so neither one will age or suffer from inanition while trapped there. It’s very likely they weren’t affected by Eida’s spell, so that will make things… interesting when/if they’re freed from there.

It seems Code is still building his army from the Juubi’s body. With his memories altered by Eida, all of his hatred towards Kawaki has now transferred to Boruto, so it seems like he plans to hunt him down as well. I guess that means he won’t attack Konoha for a while.

The chapter ended leaving a LOT of pressing questions unanswered, hence why I felt like it was rushed towards the end. Some of the more pressing ones:

Why are Sarada and Sumire immune to Eida’s power? Are they the only ones immune to the Shinjutsu or are there more people unaffected as well? If there are more people that were unaffected, does that mean Boruto and Sasuke might find allies during their travel?

What happened to Himawari? Was she also affected by the Omnipotence Shinjutsu and had the memories of her beloved brother rewritten? And if she wasn’t affected (which might be a possibility related to the strong “intensity” that Daemon felt from her) how is she going to react to Kawaki’s actions and the rest of the village turning against her brother?

For that matter, while we know the Shinjutsu overwrote the memories of people regarding Boruto and Kawaki, what about all the physical evidence that exists contradicting the new history? All the video, photos, documents and records that exists showing that Boruto is the Hokage son: Did all of those disappear? Were they altered by the Shinjutsu? Or is people’s perception of them altered so, to put an example, if someone looks at a photo of Boruto with his family they will see Kawaki there instead?

Now that most people think that Naruto is dead, what will happen to Konoha’s leadership? Will Kakashi return to the position as 6th Hokage? Will they name a successor?

I hope all of these questions get answered when the manga returns for the time skip.

I’m not referring to rhe “he don’t cate about the timeline article” I mean the “No Comment” article when he was asked about an OoT remake. It’s on gameinformer and twitter, and I think i might be skeptical bit time

Ah! I have a several thoughts on this!

(Disclaimer: I do not work for Nintendo and this is all speculation.)

Given Aonuma’s high profile in games, “no comment” is really all he could say in that situation. If they were considering an OoT remake, HD re-release, anime series, etc. in the indeterminate future, he couldn’t hint to it in an ad hoc interview question and certainly wouldn’t announce anything outside of a larger, Nintendo-driven marketing reveal. Given the interest in the topic, anything other than a hard “no” could easily be interpreted by the fandom and game media as a “maybe yes” (hence all the speculation around the “no comment” response itself). If they are not planning on making anything OoT related at this time (or even if it’s not on any future long term release roadmap), they also wouldn’t want to commit to a hard “no” there, either.

My guess is that if they were to “remake” OoT, it’d be like all of the other Mario and Zelda HD remakes: “upres it” to significantly higher detail and frame rate, modify the controls to make sense on Switch, and don’t change the content at all (other than adding additional graphical details—like what can be found in the delta between the original N64 OoT release the later 3DS re-release).

The “upres” of an older game is a massive undertaking. The OoT 3D port came out in 2011. For the sake of accuracy and feel, they might be able to rebuild / extend the engine they used on the 3DS to run on Switch, but that would likely be extremely difficult. Or maybe they could recreate the entire game in an already Switch-compatible engine (perhaps the Skyward Sword HD or BotW tech), but then it would be difficult to capture the core gameplay experience. Perhaps they could just start from scratch, but that’s even more expensive. No matter what they run it on, they’ll have to reproduce all the assets. Because OoT is such a beloved game—and there is precedent here with WW HD, etc.—they would likely choose to closely and carefully recreate the style of the original game, vs. drastically changing the art, sound, etc.

Regarding the narrative content, as others have mentioned, the game is 25 years old and from a less inclusive era, so aspects have not aged well. If there were edits made, it would perhaps be to modify those rougher spots, but likely not be a drastic rewrite.

To quote Husband, “There are very low odds they’d go the Final Fantasy VII Remake route” and retcon / change a bunch, especially since Nintendo already has such a strong HD re-release precedent. Because it would essentially be a port at that point, it would likely be given to another company to handle as the first-party TotK team moves on (if they haven’t already) to their next big project.

I have no idea what Aonuma’s role entails at Nintendo, but at the very most he would be part of the greenlight process to have another studio work on a re-release of OoT, and would likely not have any creative nor directorial influence on the game itself (there even are several interviews in which Omega Force described having very little oversight from the BotW team as they worked on AoC). So if folks are worried about him taking the game in a different direction, if he’s even still in a creative position at Nintendo, he will undoubtedly mostly focus on the Next Big New Title. But it sounds like maybe he’s moved to the more corporate / franchise level now, in which case he will not be in the weeds on creative direction much at all.

In the end, if Nintendo did decide to tackle the heavy lift of delivering a new generation of OoT to players (including getting it running on the Switch, redoing the art and audio, and making then localizing specific string changes, etc.), the end result probably won’t be different enough to risk undermining the long-established OoT lore nor impact the game’s place in the hearts of the fandom.

If anything, it could be a great chance for returning and newer players to experience this chapter of the older lore at >20fps.

I had originally put posting this off, hoping that the FG cards’ vignettes would provide some content that I could add onto what would’ve otherwise been a short post, but now that I’ve read the vignettes, I’ve learned that there isn’t really anything I could insert Yuu into since I think her presence for those scenes won’t be necessary. That’s why I just decided to get creative haha

The beginning of the event that involves just Crowley and the dorm leaders happens just like it does in canon, with the only difference I’d want to make is that the FG’s theme is “abundance” rather than “windswept” cause I thought the ENG translation team could’ve come up with something better. 

Like I get wanting to use something other than “exotic” which was used in the JPN version before they went back later on and changed it to “fabulous”, but surely, there were better alternatives than windswept lol 

I just think abundance works well cause that’s a word that can be associated with spring, and you think “rich” when you think “abundant” and Leona/Kalim are definitely very rich lol

Anyway, since everything else is the same, I’ll fast-forward to Yuu being brought into the story. Up until this point, because the school’s magestone got stolen by the fairies, Ramshackle has been unbearably hot, and Yuu was actually about to leave to go talk to Crowley about this situation when he summoned her to get her to help out with the magestone retrieval team.

Since Yuu really does not wanna have to suffer inside a sweltering dorm for a prolonged period time, she agrees to help out without putting up any fuss.

When the group leaves Crowley’s office to meet up with Ruggie/Jamil and formulate a plan, Kalim suggests going to Ramshackle to meet up. However, Yuu advises against it because of how hot her dorm is, even though she knows both Kalim and Leona are used to the heat.

Instead, they have their meeting outside Ramshackle since the weather is normal outdoors, because I think the magestone situation only affects the inside of the buildings associated with NRC, not NRC’s campus as a whole.

Upon hearing about Ramshackle’s situation, Kalim offers Yuu/Grim the chance to sleep over at Scarabia until the magestone is recovered since he’s sure it would be difficult to sleep while it’s so hot.

Of course, sleeping at Scarabia which is as cold as the arctic won’t be super pleasant either, but Kalim cheerfully says they can just host a sleepover in his room since that way they can keep each other warm. 

After all, dealing with the cold is easier in this kind of situation than dealing with the heat is. Plus, I could easily see him with his great wealth being able to afford some heaters for his dorm to make things easier for everyone there until the magestone situation is fixed.

I wouldn’t put it past Jamil to be taking care of those kinds of arrangements while the dorm leader meeting was going on lol

While Yuu is bad with cold weather, she is willing to take her chances cause of how miserable it is now inside Ramshackle. Plus, she could never turn down a sleepover request from Kalim.

Grim, of course, is fine with it as long as he gets to enjoy lots of great food haha

Kalim naturally invites Leona over too if the temperature situation at Savanaclaw gets unbearable, but Leona turns him down since he can sleep through anything if he puts his mind to it lol 

(It’s never mentioned what kinda situation Savanaclaw’s dorm is in, but since it’s likely always warm there, I’m thinking it would be their luck to be stuck in a freezing cold dorm too lol)

Ruggie and Jamil arrive on the scene just in time to hear that Kalim has invited Yuu over for a sleepover/plans on her spending the night in his room. Unsurprisingly, they are not fond of this plan 😂

Ruggie immediately puts up a fuss, but Kalim just thinks it’s because he didn’t get invited, so he’s quick to tell Ruggie that he can spend the next few days at Scarabia too.

Once he realizes that he’ll have free access to Scarabia’s huge feasts, Ruggie immediately changes his tune and is all for the sleepover lol Plus, once he learns how unbearably hot it is in Ramshackle, he’s more willing to allow the sleepover, just as long as he can keep an eye on Yuu.

Jamil is the definition of exasperated about Kalim just doing as he pleases as he always does. However, he goes along with the sleepover idea since it’s really in Yuu’s best interest, and it could negatively affect her health if she’s stuck in that sweatbox of a dorm for too long. 

After that matter is addressed, Jamil and Ruggie are told about the FG and how they’re now on a team to take back the magestone. Just like in canon, these two are not at all pleased about this haha

The whole planning process happens like it does in canon, with Yuu helping to keep the peace and reminding the guys that they’ll have to repeat a year/be stuck in these horrible extreme temperature conditions for a while if they fail to steal the Fairy Queen’s crown. 

She does her best to keep Leona cooperative since he’s really the main one to worry about in this group lol

When Jamil eventually summons Vil/Crewel to help the group prepare for the fashion show, Yuu is very sympathetic cause with those two at the helm training is gonna be absolute torture 😂 

On the bright side, Yuu gets to enjoy seeing her friends all decked out in Crewel’s specially designed outfits, and she absolutely loves them. She thinks everyone looks amazing and makes sure to take pictures of them. There’s definitely a wry remark on the guys’ end about how at least Yuu is enjoying herself haha

In regards to Yuu’s outfit, Crewel saves it for last since she won’t be the focal point, but since she’s one of his pups (cause she’s in his homeroom), he wants to ensure she’s dressed to perfection. That’s why he spends more time thinking about what he wants her to wear. 

In the meantime, Yuu has to spend even more time than the boys changing into different outfits so Crewel can see how she looks in all different kinds of designs. 

It’s exhausting for her, but Yuu doesn’t mind all that much cause it does make her happy that Crewel wants to do something special for her outfit since she’s not used to receiving this kind of attention from adults. 

Plus, Yuu always likes doing things that result in Crewel calling her a “good girl”. Praise from him is rare, so she just soaks it up like sponge, especially since praise from adults was even rarer during her childhood. This kinda positive treatment just makes her happy. 

In regards to the fashion show team’s walking practice, Yuu is impressed by how beautiful and elegant they all look. However, she does know that Vil will complain about Leona who’s not really putting forth any real effort and doesn’t look nearly as elegant as Kalim and Jamil.

Yuu feels really bad for Leona when she hears everyone else’s savage comments about him. Like she knows he’d do the same to anyone else if the roles were swapped, but she still feels bad cause they’re all so brutal lol 😂

The days leading up to FG pass with Leona/Kalim/Jamil practicing while Yuu plays the support role and pitches in whenever. One way she does this is by providing refreshments, once they get approved by Vil, of course. 

Yuu and Ruggie are given the job of making the flower crowns that everyone is supposed to wear as well as plenty of extras since Kalim often ends up ruining his while he’s dancing.

Whenever she’s available, Vil also puts Yuu in charge of watching Kalim/Jamil when they practice while he focuses on Leona because she’s very observant, and she can provide helpful feedback, although he does have to tell her not to go too easy on Kalim cause everyone knows she’s extra soft toward him lol

In Jamil’s SR vignette, it’s Vil who points out Jamil’s lack of passion in his dancing and how Kalim makes a mistake every time he performs on the day before the FG, but I could see Yuu pointing this out sooner while she’s observing them.

Vil would backup her words, so Jamil takes them seriously and goes looking for inspiration to improve his dancing. In Kalim’s case, he does his best to work on making less mistakes while Yuu cheers him on.

At nighttime, sleepovers are hosted at Scaraba, so they all get to enjoy good food and all the comfy mattresses there that get brought into Kalim’s room to make a place for them all to sleep on. According to Rugge, this is the only bright side of the FG situation haha

During one of the days leading up to the FG, Yuu’s Quirk shows her a vision of the moment when she, Grim, and Ruggie get caught in a squall following his successful theft of the crown, and the vision ends with the three of them hiding from the fairies since their fairy dust got washed off.

Naturally, Yuu is not thrilled about what’s to come and wants to do whatever she can to avoid them getting into trouble, especially when they’re so close to accomplishing their mission.

After racking her brain, Yuu gets the idea of contacting Idia/Ortho to get them to hack into the botanical garden’s automatic sprinkler system, which she figures must be controlled by some kind of computer system so everything can be handled remotely when necessary. She asks them to make the necessary arrangements, so that during the day of the FG, they won’t have to worry about the sprinkler system going off while they’re there.

Thanks to the Shroud brothers, Yuu’s group is able to avoid getting soaked and are able to escape with the stolen crown without any issues.

Overall, that’s the only real change to the events that happen during the day of the FG, so most of the event happens like it does in canon. 

I will add that Yuu gets the lookout position because she’s really good at observing people/looking for cues, so her being the one to give the signal to Ruggie just made the most sense. Plus, he didn’t trust Grim with the job lol

She was a little nervous about having everything resting on her, but Yuu was determined to succeed since she didn’t want to let everyone down.

At the end, when Vil and Crewel reveal their plans for the group’s next fashion show, Yuu is amused by Leona/Jamil/Ruggie’s dismayed reactions and how Kalim actually got excited about doing more fashion shows with everyone. 

While she understands Kalim wanting to hang out with everyone more since they had many fun moments over the last several days, Yuu also perfectly understands the others’ feelings since all that training did seem exhausting and she can’t see herself ever being any good at being a runway model. 

I could see Yuu pointing out how they need to hurry and get the magestone to Crowley, so everyone, sans Kalim, jumps on that chance to get away from Crewel and Vil lol

In hopes of cheering Kalim up, Yuu suggest they have one more sleepover since she knows how much he has been enjoying the sleepovers, and he’s all for the idea. 

So it’s a happily ever after all around.
