soap's whole deal being sniper and demolitions gets me going bc on the surface they sound so different but when you get into it, you realise it's bc soap's smart

sniping is all math; calculating distances and wind interference and bullet drop. something i think people overlook is he was listed as a sniper first so it can be implied that he's better at it than demolitions. he does more sniping in both campaigns than demolitions work; in capture or kill, ghost specifically calls on him to take down the aq snipers

and demolitions is math with a hit of chemistry; knowing what mixes with what, knowing how much to use, recognising environmental factors and adjusting accordingly. it's not just about the boom; so much work goes into contained/ planned explosions. especially when having enough power for a breacher charge and not bringing down the whole building is the difference between mission success and failure

the chemical bombs he makes in alone can't just be any old cleaners, they have to have the correct reaction to each other; he just knew off the top of his head what would mix with what to create what reaction. he would also potentially have to recognise them by sight/smell bc they would’ve been written in spanish

soap would also have to know architecture; recognising structural integrity and weak points so he knows exactly where to plant a charge to bring it down and how it'll come down

he has an incredible soldier's mind people just forget that bc he's sociable which itself is a skill

we know he tends to buck against orders he doesn't agree with like when he pushes back against ghost in capture or kill and shepherd when he tells them to release hassan

he gets closer to people and sees if he can trust them and that's when he follows them without question. really think about how he talks to alejandro and rudy; he asks about their home and alejandro's family and rudy's relationship with him. those aren't questions you ask a stranger after a few hours of knowing them. that's not even touching on his relationship with ghost

he also deliberately brings people of higher ranks down to his level; talking informally with ghost and giving him a shoulder punch, addressing alejandro (a colonel!!) by his first name and rudy by his nickname despite literally just meeting them. he personalises all of them and it’s in direct opposition to the reason most characters do that; it’s not due to insubordination or lack of respect, the more he respects and trusts someone, the more casual he is with them

he digs into people; he wants to know what makes them tick and that determines if he can one, trust them and two, follow their orders. once he decides that, he's the ultimate soldier; he bleeds loyalty which makes him vicious when that loyalty is taken for granted

he isn't naive or bubbly or insecure; he's an incredibly smart and aware soldier. he's aggressive and bloodthirsty and loyal and intuitive and i love him so much

tbh I don’t think therapy would have fixed Jayce and Viktor lmao. maybe would have softened their self-destructive tendencies but there’s no fixing that co-dependent relationship. Heimerdinger Mel and Sky are told “yeah, I can help treat their individual depressions but nothing is gonna reduce their co-dependency. I’m pretty sure separating them makes it a lot worse for not only them but much worse for everyone else. for everyone’s safety I suggest they’re not allowed to be more than a buildings length away from each other and even that is pushing it.” That therapist then quits on the spot cause now they’ve literally seen everything.

It’s like that scene in Brooklyn nine nine where all the physiatrists are observing and talking with Gina but instead it’s a whole crew of therapists and neurologists and physiologists trying to find out how these two men literally mind-melded together. They go to couples therapy but it’s literally just individual therapy held together because why tf not it’s the only way to get them to go.

God, I'm (yet again) exhausted. What a show. I will say, flaws and all, it's still one of the best animated series I've watched. Ever. No, I don't think it deserves the vitriol it's getting on social media.

I have a LOT of emotions right now. I don't think I'm even thinking straight after watching through everything once. It definitely needs to be re-watched multiple times. No, I'm not offering any kind of insights or anything like that. I think I'm just too emotional seeing my favorite show end.

I really wanna thank the writers, directors, artists, animators, producers, and everyone else who worked on this show for this work of art. It was beautiful, and it's why I love making gifs of this show.

And just because this show has ended, doesn't mean I'll stop making things. There's two whole seasons to work with now. I hope I can have enough free time to post regularly. I still need to make some 8k wallpapers and a ton of gifs haha.

I'll take a break and sleep for now. I'll see what I can make when I wake up tomorrow. I have so many things I want to do, but I also feel like crap and I too, have a life LMAO.

Oh, and I'm still looking forward to the next stories that they tell us! Runeterra truly has amazing lore. Excited to see what's next!

a Charlie who spent the last few years kinda physically and emotionally isolated from people, now trying not to scare off the cute wounded dumpster lady she brought home-

and Charlie's still juuuuuuust out of practice enough that Vaggie (having fallen asleep sitting against a wall) not only wakes up gently covered in Charlie's coat (aww), but also with Charlie herself crouching Less Than A Foot Away From Her Face, Staring And Frowning With Worry

Vaggie: *groggy and in pain* *sees a demon* *AAAA*

Charlie: "Hi"

Vaggie: "AAAAH!!" (reflexively punches)

Charlie: (right before getting punched) "Are you feeling any bet- ARUGH!!!"

Vaggie realizing this is the nice demon? who helped her??? and she just punched the nice lady demon in the face????? hard enough to knock Charlie ass over tea kettle?????

Vaggie: (jumps up to help) "SORRY! I'm sorry I didn't-"

Vaggie: (back slams into wall)

Vaggie: "ah"

Vaggie: (faints from pain)

cute dumpster lady slumps unconscious to the floor, or rather onto the floor Charlie is already inhabiting. Charlie now has cute dumpster lady limp in her arms AND a black eye and one of these is really freaking her out

Charlie: "Oh nooooo. Oh shit oh fuck don't be dead don't be dead, first time alone with someone in years please please PLEASE don't say I've killed her- hey? Hey! Open your beautiful eyes! Y-your eye, your normal looking eye- I- Fuck fuck fuck-"

next time Vaggie wakes up she thinks she's alone... until she looks around and sees Charlie peeking nervously around the edge of the open door. and it's, kinda hard to be freak out by a demon when she's huddled down as small as she can make herself, waving one finger at Vaggie tentatively, and whisper-shouting that she's got snacks and juice if Vaggie's feeling hungry

years later, Vaggie still feels really bad about the black eye thing. Charlie loves it though. she specially loves teasing that, technically, Vaggie was the one who hit on her first

Vaggie: "I still have nightmares about it yeah."
