Wolfgang Akire and the Blackmail Motive
I have so much to say about this blackmail motive, and I haven’t seen anyone talk about how it’s both indirectly and directly responsible for what went on with Wolfgang. Spoilers under the cut.
Eva and the Direct Killing
Firstly, and most obviously, there’s the direct way with how Wolfgang was affected by Eva. When Damon showed Eva the blackmail he had on Wolfgang, Eva says that it “confirms her feeling that Wolfgang is suspicious”. Afterwards, the group explores the pharmacy, including Eva finding the hidden poster that led to her needing to kill someone. Had Damon not confirmed that suspicion, there’s the slim chance Eva wouldn’t have killed.
To go entirely theoretical, without the blackmail, Eva may have countered Damon when he suggested not trusting the others because of her lack of total suspicion around Wolfgang and his dominance over the group, allowing for her to avoid falling for the motive. It’s also possible Eva would have killed someone besides Wolfgang, though admittedly not likely since she considered Wolfgang the ringleader, and isn’t able to see the people who are kind to her regardless like Diana. Considering Eva’s main reason for murder was her victim complex of everyone hating her, she could have killed someone else, especially with how common it became to bully her for her talent near the end, which Wolfgang didn’t necessarily do, but did “allow” (at least, in Eve’s perspective, which was the only one she needed).
2. Wolfgang and Indirect Killing
Now, what I haven’t seen anyone talk about, is how Wolfgang indirectly caused his own death! Wolfgang is the one who implemented the “one-on-one” conversation policy for blackmail discussions. He even starts to sweat when people start discussing just sharing the blackmail openly beforehand, and he says instead that people need to “give the person a chance to explain themselves”. Given the suspicious contents of Wolfgang’s blackmail, and the fact Wolfgang himself is clearly very aware of it, he implemented this policy not for the safety and structure of others, but for himself. Is this technically, in a roundabout way, implementing a rule for the safety and structures of others, as Wolfgang was aware he had become a leader for most and didn’t want to shake their faith in him? Yes, but it’s because of this selfish decision for privacy rather than open discussion that both Wolfgang and Diana were lured to the boiler room, and Wolfgang was killed. He was trying to preserve his image, and statistically he had a great chance of succeeding with how many people he had gathered to his side. It was unfortunate luck that it was Damon, who later shared with Eva, rather than one of the other 13 students who received his blackmail and likely would have actually brought and talked to him about it. Still, had the entire group had an open discussion and everyone explained themselves, what would have happened? Would Eva still have had a reason to find Wolfgang suspicious if he explained himself? Would it have furthered group trust or worsened it? We’ll never know, but it would have certainly been an interesting thing to see, especially since that’s where it was going before Wolfgang’s interference. We definitely know what happened because of Wolfgang’s decision to discuss the blackmail one-on-one.
3. Bonus Thought: Wolfgang and the Knife
Additionally, a vague foreboding reminder, we have no idea what Wolfgang’s “come to the boiler room” note said. It was ruined by the water, and Eva (its writer) never revealed its contents. The most likely instance is it was a “discussion of blackmail” note, like was used to lure Diana. However, Wolfgang still brought a knife. Considering they were meeting in the dark boiler room all alone, and with what ended up happening, he wasn’t wrong to, but was his original plan to bring a knife to a “normal” blackmail exchange? What for? What was Wolfgang planning to do with the knife if there was no murder plot occurring that morning? Was it a last resort of sorts, if his blackmailer didn’t like his explanation? Was it really just for protection? Regardless, I think it’s fascinating that he clearly brought the knife due to a lack of trust, either for his own protection or his own safety, which goes (again) against everything he was preaching. Wolfgang, who constantly told everyone to trust each other, didn’t trust anyone- to the point he brought a knife to a private meeting and refused to share his own blackmail, which got him killed. Beneath the Veil of Hypocrisy indeed.

Project Eden's Garden Theories + Minor Analysis 🍎
Not a specific death order theory, just an excuse to yap because I'm hyperfixating
This is very long and it probably doesn't make sense.
🐍 Damon Maitsu- Ultimate Debater
Obviously everybody has the mastermind theory. It's the garden of eden and Satan was the snake. I do agree with the Satan analogy, but more so as an "outer" symbolism as opposed to an "inner" symbolism. Let me explain that better. I think that Damon will come of as antagonistic to the group because he says the right things in the wrong way. Like how he was trying to help everyone by telling them not to trust each other, but he was a dick about. Damon will play the Devil in the perception of the cast, but I don't believe that he will be actually behind the Killing Game.
🐦‍⬛ Eva Tsunaka - Ultimate Liar
I understand the first culprit theory. Eva is a similar name to Eve, Eve is the first human to sin, Eva is the first cast member to kill. That makes sense, but I see her taking on a more Kirigiri kind of role. Smart girl sort of side protag actively tries to hunt down the mastermind. However, since she's the Ultimate Liar and the cast already seems distrustful of her, I could see Eva discovering the secret to the killing game or the true mastermind but no body believes her which either leads to Eva killing the mastermind, or the mastermind killing/framing her. (Like Junko trying to frame Kirigiri in chapter five.)
🦈 Desmond Hall - Ultimate Marksman
I don't have much for Desmond. I feel like he'll either be a victim or a survivor. I can't see him as a culprit. At least not intentionally. I could see him trying to protect someone and killing their attacker in the process on accident, but I lean more towards a victim for him.
🦢 Eloise Taulner - Ultimate Fencer
I see Eloise as a survivor, but I lean towards a culprit. It's not a strong theory, but I see them trying to flip the shrinking violet trope on its head. In the chapter one preview from the San Antonio game expo we see Wolfgang trying to "help" Eloise by offering to walk with her before they go exploring and she seems to get annoyed with him. I could see this being a way to show that Eloise isn't a fragile as she let's on.
🦩 Toshiko Kayura - Ultimate Matchmaker
I want to believe that since she's literally a baby that she won't die, but part of me believes that since she's so young she will die. My current theory is that she's either the chapter one or two victim. I could definitely see the team choosing to kill her off early as a sort of "shock value" for the cast. Because I'm sure seeing a child get murdered would be more psychologically damaging then seeing an adult die. I'll be honest my Toshiko theory is kind of weak.
🐻 Wenona - Ultimate Entrepreneur
I see Wenona as a kind of Celeste character. The whole "if you do not adapt, you will die" mindset. I could see her staying distant from the group the majority if the time. I think that she will be a culprit, chapter three specifically. In the chapter on trailer we see during her free time event that the bear symbolism they gave her represents strategy. I feel like she'll have a really complex murder plot since she's obviously smart. She's also a Native American woman in the field of business. That's obviously not something easy. I highly doubt that she would give it up so easily. Plus, she's a billionaire. As much as I love Wenona, she's evil.
🦉 Ulysses Wilhelm - Ultimate Historian
Let me start by saying tat he is my favorite. Unfortunately, that means he's going to die. He writes everything in his notebook, if that doesn't sound like a major point of discussion in a trial, I don't know what does. I could also see him surviving, but I lean more towards a victim for him. The only reason I seem him surviving is that there could be this big moment in the final trial where they have to connect several seemingly unrelated notes in his notebook to find the big mystery or whatever. Anyway, I love him and if he dies I will lose it.
🐊 Mark "Mayhem" Berskii - Ultimate Music Producer
I can see Mark as a victim or a culprit and both of them revolve around Jett. As we see in the prologue, Mark is a very shy and reserved person. Obviously this paints a target on his back and any character who has a close friendship is another death flag. I could see him being killed and Jett falling into despair, or killing somebody with Jett.
💄Diana Venicia - Ultimate Cosmetologist
Diana is a character who I feel very strongly about as a survivor. It's not a strong theory, but it's just what feels right. Most people take the chameleon symbolism to be negative, but I don't see it as good or bad. I think it just emphasize that Diana is your average sixteen year old girl blending in with the crowd. She'd not a threat, she isn't aggressive, she just a teenaged girl. She is kind, she is helpful, she loves makeup. She just wants to love her life. She's so plain that she'll blend in and she will live.
🐑 Wolfgang Akire - Ultimate Lawyer
Oh boy, here we go. This is the big one. I believe that Wolfgang will either be a victim or a survivor. He will be the antagonist, but he is not a villain. Like I said for Damn who says the right thing in the wrong ways, Wolfgang will say the wrong thing is the right ways. I truly believe that Wolfgang has good intentions, but he is so optimistic and passionate that he lets his savior complex to bring everybody into a more vulnerable state. Like Damon's snake symbolism alluding to him bring the "devil" to the group, Wolfgang's sheep symbolism shows him as the "angel" to the group. The lamb of God, the Messiah, the guardian angel. He wants to save everybody, but he can't because he doesn't accept the horrible truth of the group's situation. He wants to believe that he can bring them to salvation, but a man can never be a God. My other theory is that he will be a final chapter sacrifice. A death is necessary for the group to escape and he will accept his new role of Martyrdom. Letting him finally become the savior he wanted to for the entire game.
🦋 Kai Monteago - Ultimate Influencer
Butterflies represent change, the butterfly effect. Kai will be the first culprit and this will lead to more fear without the group causing more people to want to kill. The flap of his wings will cause the tornado of death that will plague the group for the rest of the game. Short theory, but I feel strongly about it.
🐺 Jett Dawson - Ultimate Drag Racer
As I stated with Mark's theory, I see Jett as a culprit. Either Mark will be a victim and Jett will fall into despair driving him to murder in a later chapter, or he will kill somebody to escape with Mark. The only way this would work is a motive we're the backend can bring one person with them to the outside or they find a way for Jett and Mark to both equally be held accountable as the culprit. Though I'm not sure how something lijrme that could happen since the only instance is in SDRA2 chapter three and the plan behind that was bizarre (in a good way) and I doubt they could replicate anything similar.
🦁 Ingrid Grimwall - Ultimate Blacksmith
Ingrid is the only character I can't really think of anything for. I just have a strong feeling that she won't survive. Sorry.
🐲 Jean Delamer - Ultimate Ship Captain
I can see Jean as a chapter five victim. Since we see in the chapter one demo that he takes the hope speech guy role, I can see him dying fairly late in the game either as an "easy target" or since he's getting in the way of more murders happening.
🕷 Cassidy Amber - Ultimate Pro Gamer
I see Cassidy as a survivor, but I don't have any evidence. I just can't think of a theory for her as a victim, or as a culprit. She could also be the true mastermind, which is a fairly popular theory. That makes some sense considering her spider symbolism and the whole "tangled in a web" metaphor.
Thanks for reading!
Feel free to tell me any other theories you have!

Damon, Toshiko and Eva with a platonic s/o thats the most cuddly, most adorable big sister-like friend.
No problem, buddy. I'm sorry to make you wait so long. I hope it was worth it. And I hope reader is the best big sister for these three. Sorry I've been away for so long…. I'm sorry that I almost gave up. hope my work will compensate you.
Pice of Pie with Cup of Coffee! Ready to receive!
Big sister s/o who is best friend
Paring: Character x Fem!BigSister!Reder
Tumblr media
Damon Maitsu
You are the Ultimate Therapist. There is a year difference between you
In appearance, you are a mirror image of Damon in the female mirror. However, in character, you are his opposite. You are always calm, patient, helpful and get along well with people.
You saw that after, Damon is close to exploding while talking to Wolfgang. You stepped in, behind im Damon burst out and said something he didn't mean.
Before you dispersed to your rooms, you entered the storeroom, taking from it a set of walkie-talkies.
You are officially the sister of the whole class.
Damon is no one along the lines of MasterChef or a professional chef. His breakfasts, however, are the stuff of legends. You are the only one who has, the privilege of having Damon get up in the morning and fry you a stack of pancakes or bake you cinnamon rolls.(Once Kai saw you two in the kitchen. He brought several people with him. Damon wanted to strangle him, but you calmed him down. With a little motivation, Damon made for everyone that day, bread pudding for breakfast. It became a hit in class)
Damon, has no problem with things getting messed up for him. He usually goes shopping and buys new clothes. However, the sweater he wears he got from you. Whenever he damages it, he comes to you and asks you to fix it.(Damon is always embarrassed if he damages his sweater. You, however, always never see the problem. You are always ready, him to make a new sweater)
No one knows that, not even you. Damon always, when he gets stressed during debates, puts his hand in his pocket. There he always has the snake key ring he got from you. Although he's not superstitious, it's his good luck talisman.
Do you think Damon is not the party type ? You are right. The exception is dress-up parties. These types of parties are conquered by you two. The Maitsu siblings always have the best outfit. For the first Halloween at the academy, you performed like Tanjirou and Nezuko.(Your most legendary disguise, was how you came to be, as Morticia and Gomez. You as Gomez, Damon, as Morticia. It turned out, that evening, that Damon walks better in stilettos than you do)
Damon suffers from sleeplessness, so most often, once you spend the night at his place or in your room. To help him fall asleep, you sing him a lullaby that your grandmother used to sing to you.
Tumblr media
Eva Tsunaka
You are Ultimate Kendoka. There is a year difference between you.
You are the only person who knows her secret.
Grace hates you, and Kai, Mark and Jett, are even afraid of you.(Maybe Eva is indifferent to all the insults directed toward her. You, however, are no longer indifferent)
You are fans of Demon Slayers. You spent most of your time at home, so you two were looking for all sorts of things to kill time. You got so caught up in this anime that you even taught Eve the basics of kendo.(Once you went to a convention, as Mitsuri and Obanai)
When Eva was sad, you always combed her hair. It calms her down, and combing her hair is a pleasant feeling. Especially since Eva hates doing it, so she prefers it all the more when someone does it for her.
You know everything about everything in the classroom. No matter what happens, you guys know it. You exchange new information in the news on a regular basis.
When you met Damon and Diane, you immediately loved them. Being Eva's new friends, they automatically became your friends.(Damon almost fainted when he went to see you along with Eva. Still everyone remembers what you did with Grace and Kai. Of course, Kai exaggerated it, but others don't need to know about it 😘)
You and Eva have your own language that you use to communicate when you are in public.(It is a combination of Latin, Japanese with the addition, a few syllables of Slavic. It is so complex and little understood that no one even tries to decipher it. It makes you wonder whether to teach it to Damon)
Since childhood you have shared a room. You may have separate ones, however, as besties, you prefer to live in one. Of course, movie nights, home beauty parlors, late-night gossip, pillow battles, late-night game marathons and many other entertainments have been your routine for years.
You got her into Pokemon games. Since the second generation, the obligatory Pokemon in Eva's lineup, is Scizor, which she calls by your name.
Tumblr media
Toshiko Kayura
You are the former Ultimate Chocolatier. You are six years older than Toshiko.
Despite the big age difference, it doesn't stop you from being best friends.
You taught Toshiko about traditional Japanese culture, customs and much more.(The kimono that Toshiko now wears previously belonged to you. You taught her how to tie a kimono)
Your sweets can replace oxygen for Toshiko. But she takes your concern and instructions to heart, so she eats healthy so she can eat as many sweets as she can.(Your parents are in shock. Toshiko has always hated vegetables, and all it takes is one word from you and he will eat them without whining. They can ask and threaten, without result)
Toshiko is free advertising for you. As a gift, it offers everyone chocolates made by you. Even people who don't like chocolate love your products.(Toshiko can advertise effectively. Once she said that when you were in the academy your chocolates were still ordered by Queen Elizabeth II herself. No one checks whether this is true)
She tried to snare you with Damon when she noticed that he was getting stressed in your company.(Not that she likes him. But all for young love and the plot)
Every excursion to a place of interest to you, or holidays, trips or other occasions, are captured by you in photos. You both have a place on the wall where you attach, each photo and new memory. Sometimes you still write down interesting quotes.
You met her class when she invited you to their Thanksgiving feast. You brought your Black Forest Cake with you. That's also when you met Wenone. You took a liking to each other, and Wenone offered to help you develop your delicious business.(Since then, Wenona has become a step-sister to Toshiko)
Toshiko has a habit of giving nicknames related to desserts, especially Japanese ones. She calls you “Castella.”(One of the most complex and elegant desserts. Worthy of you)
You match outfits for family occasions. You usually go shopping together and advise each other on what clothes fit you. Never mind that most of the time Toshiko wears clothes she took after you or got from you.
I did it! Sorry for VERY late. Pls enjoy and don't hate me.
Love you all!

Eva Tsunaka and the art of hiding intentions in plain sight
(Spoilers below the cut… duh)
So I’ve been struck with a thought, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to express it for a few days. Why are we surprised Eva killed first? Truly, everything we needed to know to make an educated guess was presented to us quite early on. And why are some of us upset? I’ve seen a group of people who feel Eva shouldn’t have been the first killer and should’ve been a traditional support. This was strange to me, and I couldn’t figure out why until recently.
One of the things that stuns me about Project Eden’s garden is the fact it’s not a subtle game. In fact, it’s almost painfully upfront. Time after time we’ve been shown this game is presenting itself to us in a relatively blunt manner. This isn’t a bad thing, but it is a pattern. This game made no attempt to discredit its obvious conclusions. Eden’s garden is humanity’s paradise, Eva is meant to be Eve, and Tozu is Satan. These were all easy conclusions we came to. Yet we failed to put the pieces together. Why is that so?
I’d like to shift to talking about the cultural significance of Eve, I won’t be bringing up the Bible as frankly I’m not risking that on tumblr, but I would like to talk about what Eve represents. If you don’t know I’ll give you a super short reminder. Eve was the original woman, who was tempted by Satan to eat the forbidden fruit and thus got her and Adam kicked out of the garden of Eden. Super simple explanation, but it should get everyone who somehow doesn’t know up to speed. Eve being a symbol of more than Satan’s temptations and the fall of humanity is not a new concept, in fact it’s been around for a long time. It’s only gained massive cultural significance relatively recently, however. She is traditionally a symbol of the fallings of mankind and the temptation of the devil, and for a long time that’s all she was recognized as.
Back to the game, a persistent thought in both Danganronpa and Fangans is the idea the first kill dooms them all. Once it starts it won’t stop. It corrupts everyone. That whoever tries to kill first and breaks the tentative peace is most guilty, behind the mastermind and whoever supports them. While not often outright stated it’s a common thought expressed in subtle ways. It’s doing an unthinkable action in an attempt to save yourself. In a way, it’s like tasting the forbidden fruit.
Tozu, who due to the ram/goat imaginary among other things, is our Satan stand in. True to his nature he targets Eva and offers her something. Satan is considered both a being of temptation and a deal maker, so it’s no surprise he offered Eva a deal. I will not deny that he also absolutely targeted her, and while she still had a choice he tempted her masterfully.
So here’s my question… why was this so shocking to so many of us? Me included, I was so fucking taken aback. It’s such upfront foreshadowing and yet we’re surprised. Great work by the entire team, I’m stunned.

You touched on this in your writeup, but whatcha think about Eva Tsunaka?
//Kokichi hates this girl big time.
//Thoughts under the cut.
//Eva was someone I never trusted due to pattern recognition, it’s a common Danganronpa trope that the first character you meet, you befriend for the Prologue and Chapter 1, and they always do shit in that chapter to either get themselves killed, shatter said trust or both. Chisa from The After subverts this by having a fallout with Konoe but they do make up afterwards.
//She also refused to say who her talent was until prompted and then she claims she is the Ultimate Liar which just made me laugh that Kokichi got schooled by Eva. But even though you cannot trust a single word she says, she does bring up good points when she challenges Wolfgang’s optimism and Damon backs up.
//Given the game’s biblical themes, I think Wolfgang was probably meant to be comparable to Jesus, since he’s the pure good person on the group and lamb/sheep symbolism is often used when describing Jesus. Eva is very similar sounding to Eve the first woman created by God and Damon is clearly meant be akin to the Serpent in the Garden.
//Seeing how Eve was tempted by the Serpent to bite the fruit of knowledge, it makes sense why Eva and Damon got on so well. Still my instincts were telling me not to trust her.
//The first twist with Eva is that she was lying about her talent, big shock it’s not a common trait but in a surprise subversion, her true talent is the Ultimate Mathetic, a fairly harmless talent. It’s common for characters like Maki to give a innocent sounding talent to disguise a dangerous one, but Eva gave herself the Ultimate Liar because she wanted to be taken seriously due to hating her talent.
//I wasn’t surprised Eva was the Chapter 1 culprit because she gave me Sayaka vibes that she was gonna snap and kill someone. And her reasoning for killing Wolfgang is multifaceted, on the surface there’s the fact she resented him for isolating her from the others, but then there’s the fact Wolfgang was one of the main power players in the Mock Trial so he was too dangerous to live.
//Damon was the other person but Eva’s plan with him was to pretend to be his friend and when the chips are down and if her fall girl in Diana was cleared, Damon would be her back up fall guy. And I got to admit her murder plan was quite effective as it involved a complicated pully system plus she took advantage of the Not-Melee Tournament Cassidy and Jett suggested which was something she did not account for.
//But for as cunning as Eva was, I will be the first to say she’s a complete idiot, as pretty much all her Chapter 1 woes were self inflicted, the decision to lie about her talent was a moronic move that Wenona in the only moment she did something, pointed out how stupid this was, as all it did was make her look worse then she did. And while there was nothing she could have done about Wolfgang’s hostility towards her, other people, like Diana, DID try to reach out to her and in Diana’s case she actually sincerely meant it, as she offered to bunk with Eva because she could sense how lonely she was and thought she needed a friend.
//But this is when being too distrustful of others has come to bit Eva, if Wolfgang was an example of why you shouldn’t blindly trust others, Eva was an example why you shouldn’t distrust everyone as both extremes are equally dangerous and you need a healthy balance.
//I do like how ugly Eva gets when exposed since she doesn’t back down and you literally have to drag her literally kicking and screaming to her death. Her backstory is sad but again it didn’t excuse Eva’s actions one bit.
//Overall I say Eva was an effectively written antagonist for Chapter 1 but dear god is Eva her own worst enemy here. I am curious when Bubbles and TA tackle PEG, if they agree Eva didn’t do herself any favours or not.
//Also Eva is a bitch in AA.

Thoughts on Project: Eden’s Garden
After watching NicoB play until the point of the trial, I decided I had already invested myself enough to download the game and play the prologue myself. I have a lot of thoughts to express.
But first... P:EG? The queerest acronym of them all. That sells it for me.
Damon Maitsu:
What a different take on the protagonist. Makoto was the more ‘boring’ and optimistic protagonist, Hajime was somewhat cynical and prickly but still led the group, and Shuichi had a lower self-esteem like Makoto but a great talent that was utilized well in the killing game. When Kaede was the protagonist, I feel it was more similar to Damon in the way that she rubbed some people the wrong way right off the bat and had a lot to say. The same goes for Damon, but he’s a rude jackass who values his own talent more highly over others and when others are conceited, he can’t see that same trait within himself. An annoying person in real life, but a super interesting protagonist! Furthermore, when talking to people, it clearly shows he needs people around him that aren’t as blunt and rude to continue conversation, like Wolfgang or Toshiko.
Damon’s obvious snake on his tie is a clear Biblical reference regarding the snake from the garden that tempted Adam and Eve to disobey God. His name means to “tame/subdue”. Much like a snake. This could be interpreted in several ways. Damon did push his peers during the trial to trust Wolfgang’s intuition, but then he lost their trust when concurring with Eva that they all can’t trust one another not to kill each other. He brought up a valid point in the worst way possible, isolating himself in a Kokichi-esque or Nagito-esque way. Since there was a chapter that contained Nagito’s POV briefly, I’ll assume interactions with peers will be predominantly negative next chapter but they’ll still talk to him. But that comment he made in front of Toku -- that agreement with Eva, when he had been helping Wolfgang (the optimistic one) during the trial, could be seen as a similar effect of Adam and Eve listening to the snake... and then someone takes the bite that starts the game. His words helped push people to formulate that budding distrust.
Eva Tsunaka:
The Ultimate Liar -- but is that a lie, or does she have no reason to lie? If we trusted she’s genuinely the ultimate liar, how can an ultimate liar be caught in a crime? Her name, Eva, is super close to the name Eve, and she is one of the main characters that starts off the game by saying the Ultimates are more likely to kill, causing distrust to brew. Eve is the one in the Bible that listens first to the snake; Damon following suit can mean he’s the Steve in this equation? Damon exacerbated that and aided in isolating the both of them from everyone else. It makes me wonder if they’ll distrust each other or pair up as a duo when solving cases. Either way, I’m unsure yet on whether the person biting the metaphorical apple (murder) would be my theorized Adam and Eve in this equation, haha.
Also, I really like her design in particular. It really gives me Danganronpa nostalgia.
Wolfgang Akire:
Umm, where can I start? This man is handsome. I’m a lesbian, but good god almighty... Anyway, forgive me for starting off thirsting on main when I’m trying to analyze this game. Wolfgang is who the protagonist would be if this game was an official Danganronpa game, but luckily that’s not the case and now I’m going to present that he will be a murderer. Or will that be obvious? But I saw a post on here previously that connected his sheep’s pin to his name Wolfgang, and theorized he is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” that may end up doing a murderous deed. I don’t believe the dude is evil, but he’s the one stepping up in trial on a HUGE moral high ground and he, like Tozu stated, may not have similar morals to everyone. I see him not going through redemption, but through an arc where he loses faith in humanity and decides these Ultimates are not worth saving, aka he murders someone later in the game while acting like a friend still. And I think Damon, who starts off badly with everyone with his “don’t trust anyone” shtick, will have to be the one later to bring Wolfgang down in trial and show everyone he was kinda right.
Grace Madison:
She grated on my nerves when first meeting her, but I think like Miu, I can see myself liking her. She seems like a person that will stick around awhile. She doesn’t think through her actions, but she proved herself smart in trial when having everyone go through the little details. I just think she’s quicker to emotion, like Wolfgang is, which I’m sorry but for a lawyer that isn’t always the best thing. Making emotional appeals to a jury is one thing, but getting emotional yourself is another... Anyway, enough about him. Grace’s animal is the bunny rabbit (her visor) and that confused me because bunnies are timid and this woman struck down Tozu. Maybe it alludes to her being a victim? I don’t know.
Toshiko Kayara:
I love this child and I want to protect her with my life. I don’t put it past this game to kill off a super young kid though. I can’t see her murdering someone unless it’s self-defense. Or maybe she can orchestrate a murder between two people, at most. If she’s a matchmaker, that’s a job that involves research and meddling in people’s lives. In a positive way, of course. But could potentially make her dangerous and keep her name out of any crimes.
Or, this child can stay positive and captain all the incoming ships that are bound to occur with this game (Jean: Hey, I’M the Ultimate Ship Captain, not her!). Yes, I’ve seen plenty of fanart -- you all are quick!
Her design is probably my favorite one, or Wenona’s. I can’t decide. It’s hard.
Eloise Taulner:
I felt so bad for her when Grace and Damon were being mean about her hiding and crying behind a bush. She has perpetrator potential though, unlike Desmond -- his talent seems more obvious for killing people with. Her swan symbolizes her talent too, having the agility and ability to take down opponents. She can play the long game.
Also, we can establish her motive pretty clearly: she’s got a mother who she seems close to and wanted to call early on in the prologue. It’s clear compared to everyone else that she has family on her mind while more of them have their futures on their minds.
*cough* she’s really cute *cough*
Desmond Hall:
Damn, another handsome dude. P:EG out here making me wanna -- Okay, I’ll stop before I make that joke. Even though he’s not a minor, it’s still kinda weird. Haha. I like his calm exterior and I can see him being one of the two survivors. I don’t know why, I’m just feeling it. His talent is too obvious to be a murderer, at the very least. Everyone jumped to the conclusion he killed people when they heard his talent anyway.
Jean DeLamer:
STOP P:EG FROM MAKING ATTRACTIVE CHARACTERS 2023. Jean is your “buff dude”, but he feels more real than that. He’s got the fears and anxieties of everyone else, but he can put that aside and lead. He’s goofy but smart and willing to do what has to be done (touching the dummy body for everyone else). I do see him being a victim because I do think he’ll take on a leader-like role and we all know leaders gotta die. Let’s be real, all the protagonists in the other games should’ve died -- it’s people like Damon that live. LOL.
Wenona:
Hawt damnnnn. My left-leaning politics flew out the door and got stomped on when I saw her. Is she accepting any sugar babies? Haha, in all seriousness, she reminds me of female Byukaya and I don’t have much more to contribute so far than that. I can easily see her siding with Damon and Eva on the trust versus distrust issue though. But I think she’s smart enough to not mention that for now.
Ingrid Grimwall:
She’s adorable. I love her accent. I don’t want her to be hurt or hurt anyone else. She could make a weapon out of pretty much anything though, and that makes me Big Nervous.
Cassidy Amber:
I’m a Comrade for Cassidy. I like her design and I like that she isn’t super full of herself. It’s cool that they are delving into these different levels of narcissism in the game.
Ulysses Wilhelm:
Uh, cute design! Hello! What a sleepy boy. Ulysses seems like a ripe victim ready for the taking -- dude transcribes everything into his journal. Time for someone to rip notes out of his journal after killing him and burn them somewhere, but conveniently leaving evidence behind. If there’s ever a double homicide, I feel like he would be killed second because he witnessed a murder and wrote down stuff to show the others or he’d forget. His shitty memory being his downfall.
Kai Monteago:
Dude, dude, why is this influencer so fucking cute? Put on those waterworks more and I’ll want to give you lots of hugs. I don’t know what to make of whether or not he would die or live.
Diana Venicia:
*cough* cute *cough* But also murderer potential here. Time to work some makeup magic to cover up a crime scene and make “fake” wounds to throw off everyone from the real cause of death. Out of everyone, she could edit a crime scene best.
Also, her and Kai are lesbian and gay solidarity and you cannot convince me otherwise. Those two have to be best friends.
Jett Dawson:
Someone said he fit the bill of a “bear” and that couldn’t be more accurate. I wonder what he looks like under his outfit -- wait, he said he would be naked, whoops. I know there’s a ton of hype for him and I like him fine, but I’m not on that same level as everyone else. I think he’ll be a victim though, and I also agree that him and Mark would be cute.
Mark ‘Mayhem’ Berskii:
What a little garbage can of a boy. I love him already. Someone pointed out the more dead inside he looks, his headphones get dimmer until there is no more yellow on them and I liked that feature a lot. I want to hear his music now. It was cute that Jett hyped him up despite never hearing it before, LOL.
Cara Koskinen and her unnamed killer:
This is definitely going to come back up. This is some last trial shit.
Tozu:
Interesting Headmaster; I enjoy his design, and I applaud his voice actor. I feel like he’s really going to be analyzing these people and their moralities.
Mara:
Hot. Mommy. I’m sorry.
But given the fact there are other masks than theirs in the building shown in the artwork on the walls, is there more than just Tozu and Mara? I feel like that means there’s more masked people.
Morals and Narcissism:
Two big things in this story. A lot of these characters, more so than in past games, seem to have higher levels of narcissism and self-importance. I feel like that’s realistic given how much of a pedestal they are all put on. We also know how much the Bible loves narcissism and selfishness (*sarcasm*). Morals are another big thing. Tozu is clear in his questioning to Wolfgang that he does not know everyone’s moralities and that’s true. Is self-defense still murder to everyone? What if someone accidentally murders someone? What if the perpetrator was blackmailed by another person? What is the victim has done a lot of harm, and someone put them to justice, akin to the death penalty? The Bible itself contains a lot of death, especially from God’s own hand. If Tozu is playing God, then he’s delivering these people’s executions. But, either way, I think Wolfgang will learn his peers do not share his morals.

Danganronpa Project Eden's Garden: Animal Symbolism
Okay, so I just finished the prologue (adored it, the writing is impeccable), and noticed that each character features an animal on their clothing. I'm sure tons of people have pointed it out already, but I thought it'd be fun to go through the symbolism of each, alongside any other observations I had.
Damon Maitsu:
Damon's signature animal is one of the more obvious ones - it's the big snake on his tie. Biblically, snakes are kind of a big deal... Just one snake, really, which gave all of the others a bad name. In 'Garden of Eden' arc of the Bible (which is relevant for obvious reasons), a snake tempts Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. The snake basically says "Hey queen, the apple won't kill you, it'll show you the truth, God's a liar." Adam and Eve eat the fruit, condemning humanity to eternal suffering.
Tumblr media
Painting Damon as the snake tells us a lot about his role in the narrative and his characterisation. The main theme for Eden's Garden seems to be 'head vs heart', or 'logic vs emotion'. While some characters lean towards emotion, Damon leans towards logic... But based on the Pathos system, he doesn't fully condemn emotion - it can be a good tool when it comes to winning arguments, after all.
At the end of the prologue, Damon disagrees with seeing the good in everyone. He argues that the ultimates are more likely to stab each other in the back than to help each other unconditionally... In other words, he argues that ultimates are ambitious, to the point of throwing away their morals - because he himself is ambitious to a fault.
While a lot of people see snakes as creatures of evil (particularly when it comes to THE snake in the Bible), it could be argued that the snake is an agent of the greater good. Yes, the snake was the catalyst for the fall of humanity, but you could argue it was also the catalyst for the first critical thought. Adam and Eve questioned the word of their creator and chose to go against him. That didn't end very well for them, but you could argue it liberated them.
Would you rather be a sheep, at the mercy of your shepherd, or a snake that sees the world for what it truly is?
Wolfgang Akire:
Speaking of sheep... Wolfgang has a pretty neat (very symbolic) sheep pin. The idea of him picking out a sheep pin in like... a Claire's Accessories is very funny to me.
Tumblr media
Much like snakes, sheep are also very Biblically relevant. In the Bible, God's people are usually cloaked in sheep imagery. God is the shepherd (fun fact: 'shepherd' derives from 'sheep' 'herd'), and the sheep are at his mercy. In that light, a sheep is a truly powerless thing.
Perhaps Wolfgang's sheep pin denotes him as a follower rather than a leader. Not to a specific person, but rather to an ideology - to his own morals, which he seems very attached to. Sheep are often seen as weak, existing only to be devoured by stronger, more predatory animals.
But this symbolism might exist here to be subverted. One of the most popular sheep-based phrases is (drum roll please): "Wolf in sheep's clothing".
Lawyer man is, quite literally, a wolf in sheep's clothing. His name has the word 'wolf' in it. He has a sheep on his clothing.
Does Wolfgang obsess over justice due to a guilty conscious? Is it a cover to mask his deepest, most despicable thoughts? Only time will tell, but I'm onto you, lawyer man... If that's even your real name.
Eva Tsunaka:
Okay, so I'm not 100% sure if Eva's animal is a raven or a crow, but I don't think it matters too much, people tend to perceive 'ominous medium-sized black bird' in a similar way, regardless of the specifics. Eva has a black feather in her hair and a badge with a bird's head on it. The badge looks a little bit emu-ish (which would be really funny), but the general vibe is more in line with a crow/raven.
Tumblr media
For simplicity's sake, I'll mostly talk about ravens, because I think (don't quote me on this, I have not read the actual Bible) crows are never actually mentioned... but ravens are, so we'll go with that.
SO, ravens, black birds. Apparently, the first bird to be mentioned by name in the Bible is the raven, which... lines up with Eva being the first named bird character we meet (there are a lot of bird people, we'll get to it). During the whole Noah's Arc debacle, Noah sent out a raven to scout for dry land - it didn't come back (I think? It gets mentioned, 'tos and fros' and then doesn't get mentioned again, so I think it dipped which honestly, girlboss move).
Other than that, a raven was used as a divine messenger at one point, but I think the much more interesting (and relevant) aspects of the raven is the general symbolism.
Ravens are usually seen as bad news - much like the snake, they get a bad rep. While they are often seen as bad omens, they can also be seen as beings of spiritual wisdom. They see more than others can, much like Eva. When the others start to do the whole 'We'll never kill each other!' it's Eva who disagrees, seeing the reality of the situation.
Based on the word 'Danganronpa' being associated with the game, we can assume she's correct, and that the bodies will start hitting the floor very soon.
Eva is wise and holds a lot of knowledge, but she is distrusted for reasons outwith her control. She didn't ask to be the ultimate liar - some random organisation sent her a letter one day putting that label on her.
Interestingly, ravens are the natural enemies of farmers... and Wolfgang has a distinct agricultural reference on his lapel.
To summarise: people don't like ravens, but they're very smart birds who can (in certain mythologies/cultures, at least), see beyond the surface level).
Toshiko Kayura:
Toshiko's assigned animal is a little harder to spot. Two flamingos are on her skirt as a decal, making them less obvious (especially during waist-up shots).
Tumblr media
Okay, so I'm no expert on this, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any flamingos in the Bible. Flamingos played a part in Egyptian beliefs, being associated with Ra, and they might actually be the original inspiration for phoenixes which... is kind of hilarious? The Aztecs saw them as sacred, and in Hindu culture they symbolise hamsa, a divine vehicle, which symbolises the realise from samsara, aka the cycle of suffering.
So... that could be a thing relating to Toshiko. She could be destined to act as a turning point in the narrative (either through death or through character development, same difference).
Or, we could go with the really obvious interpretation of 'flamingo = romance'. Which is very on-brand. Additionally, flamingos represent balance and elegance - mainly because of their 'standing on one leg' trick. Toshiko most likely strives to embody the qualities of a flamingo in these regards.
The use of flamingos in Toshiko's design might point to her being 'the heart' of the group. She's shown to be quite emotional (becoming flustered when challenged, avoiding the investigation, getting into an argument over gremlin-hood with Grace), despite trying to emulate a mature aura. She speaks in frivolous, convoluted imagery, which is peak fourteen-year-old behaviour, and if anything bad happens to her I will cry :D
Ulysses Wilhelm:
Rather than having a picture of an animal, Ulysses wears an owl pendant. Owls represent wisdom, and are particularly fitting for Ulysses due to him being more of a night owl.
Tumblr media
Biblically, owls are seen as unclean birds, alongside ravens. They aren't overly relevant, but are (allegedly, according to some random Bible forum) used to symbolise loneliness, desolation, guilt and mourning. In a broader sense, owls are seen as wise, critical-thinking creatures, and independent.
Because of this, I think Ulysses will fall into the Damon/Eva camp of thinking, due to his historical knowledge. Because if history's taught us anything, it's that people can't be trusted, they will self-sabotage, and murder is inevitable.
I don't have much else to say - Ulysses feels like an early victim/blackened candidate, unfortunately, so I don't think he'll be playing a major role narratively.
Desmond Hall:
This one's a little hard to spot immediately (and when I did spot it, I wasn't sure which animal it belonged to), but according to the concept art Desmond has a shark tooth earring.
Tumblr media
There are no sharks in the Bible. Sharks, apparently, symbolise protection and guidance, so I think Desmond will probably pair up with another character... which will lead to an untimely death, with a very sad flashback scene at the end of a trial. Or he'll survive, who says Biblical relevancy matters? Sharks are pretty cool and so is Desmond.
I think he'll be an optimist in the situation, but I... don't have much to say regarding his animal motif.
Grace Madison:
This one is pretty up there for the 'easiest to spot award'. Grace's animal is a rabbit, which can be seen by her (adorable) rabbit-eared visor.
Tumblr media
Biblically rabbits are pretty irrelevant, but symbolically they're very prominent. Rabbits are probably most famous for their easter connotations (you'd think they'd be Biblical, but no, it just says not to eat them). Rabbits are also known as lucky animals - 'rabbit feet' are seen as lucky talismans...
If Grace ends up with a severed foot, I'm going to lose my mind.
Anyway, since Grace is the resident 'reckless and crude' character, I would theorise her link to rabbits would be 'rebirth'. Rabbits are associated with spring, which is associated with rebirth. I think Grace (who is described as someone who burns every bridge she makes) will undergo the Fuyuhiko treatment and see a lot of character development.
Not much else for me to say here, but rabbits are generally seen as active animals (energiser bunny, the Scorbunny line), so... yay sports..?
Diana Venicia:
I do not trust this girl as far as I can throw her. I saw her across the room and thought, "No, you're evil", and the chameleon bracelet did not help her case.
Tumblr media
Like... not only does it suggest she's hiding something, or that she's a social chameleon, but it looks like a handcuff, that cannot be comfortable. And oddly enough, chameleons do feature in the Bible... and it's very odd, and very interesting.
Basically, chameleons conform to their surroundings through their unique abilities. God likes that for them, but not for humans - apparently, they should challenge things rather than just conforming to them. Which like, okay, someone changed their tune from "Don't do this one thing, no I will not elaborate". In actuality, what this means is "you should not be different on Monday to how you were on Sunday", aka, be #authentic.
Also, chameleons are seen as 'not standing up for what's right', so I guess that's where Diana falls on the morality spectrum, maybe possibly?
Diana is hiding something, she's on my mastermind radar but it feels a little too obvious? If she's not a mastermind, she hiding something and is a killer, nothing can redeem her from being shady in my eyes. I'm onto you, make-up girl...
(My guess is the beauty industry/Hollywood requires a degree of fakery, and she hates it, but she wanted to be successful so she gave into the fakery, and lost her true self in the process. And hey, maybe at some point she decided that she had to see the true twistedness of humanity via a killing game, who knows? Plus, make-up, that's very Junko-ish of her, just saying-)
Jean DeLamer:
Okay, so some people got 'owl' or 'flamingo', but this man got a whole dragon. And he cannot be more deserving of it, fly high king.
Tumblr media
I really didn't think there were dragons in the Bible, but apparently they get a mention (in all fairness, it's a real big book). Fun fact: Biblically, they are usually mentioned to reference sea monsters. On brand for our sea captain. Bad news though, dragons are pretty exclusively evil (sometimes straight-up Satan), and are vanquished by God. So... Not great for Jean, honestly, that's concerning.
Could he have a connection to the killing game? He could be a traitor of some sort, or he could try to rise up against the KG and get struck down.
Basically: Jean has no power here, he will lose every time, if the Bible-dragons are anything to go by.
Anyways, dragons are pretty relevant in... most cultures, so this is probably the most interesting thing I can dig up.
Jett Dawson:
In my original post, I mislabelled Jett's animal as a wolf. Somebody in the comments corrected me, pointing out that it's a coyote. Coyotes are closely related to wolves, so there's some symbolic overlap, but I'll rewrite the section anyways, because the original didn't shed much light on anything.
Tumblr media
Biblically, coyotes are in a bit of an odd spot. They're seen as cunning and dangerous for the most part, but in Isaiah's passage (disclaimer: I haven't read it, I'm doing the deeply unacademic thing of trusting 'straightforwardguidance'.com) he complains that coyotes and lizards are more grateful to him than humans. This is used to demean the coyote; a wild animal is better than people in Isaiah's eyes, placing them at the low end of societal importance (not literally, ofc).
Apparently, the bible also describes these animals as being wise, due to their hunting tactics. Coyotes will hunt rabbits as a team, with one tiring a rabbit out and another finishing it off. This little tidbit does not bode well for Grace, our rabbit. But, to be fair, the presence of a coyote wouldn't go well for most small animals.
I don't have too much to say about coyotes, beyond their obvious similarity to wolves. Wolves tend to hunt sheep (which gave them a bit of a negative biblical rep), but let's be real, a sheep isn't winning many battles out in the wild.
Jett strikes me as a 'tragic killer', like our usual chapter 2/4 killers. There's wildcard energy to him, though - I could see him killing, surviving or dying, but whatever happens, there'll be a plot point surrounding his face, it seems too interesting to not be a thing.
Kai Monteago:
Butterfly, on chest, let's go.
Tumblr media
Most obvious interpretation: social butterfly, he's an influencer.
Biblically, they're pretty irrelevant, but symbolically they're all about transformation. This could indicate character development, a change in tune, etc. Not much to say here, it could represent vulnerability (butterflies are fragile), but it's most likely a reference to the phrase social butterfly.
Mark 'Mayhem' Berskii:
His hat is, indeed, an alligator. At first I thought it was a dragon, then a crocodile, but the concept art confirms it to be an alligator.
Tumblr media
Google couldn't tell me much about Bible alligators, which was expected. What it can tell me is the symbolism behind them, though.
Alligators are cunning and wise. Which adds up here, Mark seems way smarter than he lets on. He makes a comment at the end of a non-stop debate (something about setting the trash fire) which suggests he's a critical thinker, seeing the misguided logic in the room.
They are also apex predators with a lot of strength which... is concerning, in terms of potential murderers. Since they've been around since the prehistoric age, alligators are seen as having an ancient, primal aura about them.
I feel there's more than meets the eye with Mark - he'll carry a key discovery or two, just you wait.
Wenona:
Wenona is the girlboss we need, as well as the girlboss we deserve, no further questions. Her animal decal is a little less obvious than others', being bear pawprints at the bottom of her coat.
Tumblr media
My favourite Bible story ever (because it's hilarious out of context) is the one about Elisha and the bears, where two bears maul forty-two children because they made fun of a guy. So, maybe don't get on her bad side via mockery.
Interestingly, bears are used to symbolise cruelty and self-servedness which... adds up here, I guess.
Symbolically, bears are a little more cuddly than the Bible makes them out to be. They're known for hibernation, making them quite patient and cautious animals. Bears are grounded animals and represent strength, being fearsome predators.
Wenona is very set in her views, and appears to be unwavering, much like a bear.
Eloise Taulner:
Eloise wears a swan pin in her hair, making that her signature animal. Swans are graceful and vicious; a fascinating combination for a character like Eloise.
Tumblr media
In the Bible, swans are everything you'd assume a white bird to be. It's all very 'this bird is the serene love of god, do not eat it, but for different reasons'.
Symbolically, swans are loyal birds, being of the 'mates for life' variety. Something interesting to mention is the concept of a swan song - a song that laments death, said to be the most beautiful song ever sung by a swan, despite the birds being far from natural singers. In Greek mythology, swans were sacred to both Aphrodite and Apollo, with Apollo being the god of music.
Which presents the possibility of a friendship between Mark and Elodie, with him being 'music' and her being a swan.
Swans are very powerful birds, so Eloise's character arc will probably involve her becoming stronger in terms of willpower and confidence.
Ingrid Grimwall:
This one's a little harder to spot, but Ingrid's animal symbol is on her bag, in the form of a lion.
Tumblr media
Lions are generally seen as brave, proud animals. The main Biblical story that comes to mind is the story of Daniel, who was thrown into a den of lions. A lion's roar is intended to paralyse its foes with fear, but can its bite match its bark? I suspect Ingrid will be a big talker, but less keen to take actual initiative. Male lions are known for being less active than their pride members, with the female lions doing the hunting.
Although, you could argue that a lion is a natural leader. These qualities don't need to be exclusive though - why not be a leader and a layabout?
Besides that, there's pride and family and strength, but the less prominent placement of Ingrid's emblem tells me she'll be less fearsome than her classmates.
Cassidy Amber:
Cassidy's a little bit different from the others. Her animal motif doesn't have a specific portrayal of the animal (much like Wenona's and Ulysses'), and hers is repeated as a pattern - Cassidy wears tights with a spiderweb pattern.
Tumblr media
Now, spiders are pretty well known for trapping things. It's kind of their whole deal. This gives Cassidy some serious mastermind vibes to me, especially when coupled with the fact that she's married to the content grind, loves games, and has a lot of money to throw around.
But anyway, the Bible just kind of complains about their webs being fragile, which could be interpreted as 'her fanbase isn't a true connection to others, they'll abandon her the second someone new catches their attention'. In reality, the Bible doesn't hold up for most of these, but like... it's interesting, right?
Spiders could be described as patient killers. They weave intricate webs for their victims and wait for the opportune moment to strike. Spiders are often feared, with arachnophobia being one of the most popular phobias. Cassidy herself is capable of projecting an unsettling aura and might be described as unnerving.
Fun fact: Red spiders specifically symbolise wealth, passion and excitement, which lines up pretty well with our pro-gamer.
In Conclusion:
I spent way too long making this.
Also, the Bible was pretty useless for most of these BUT the Bible reflects a lot of general perceptions (because it set quite a few of them), so it was sometimes interesting, I think, I'm tired, send help, goodnight!
(If you've made it this far, say hi or something, this took three hours and for what?)
