what do you think about kai and cassidy’s dynamic as public figures on the internet? I think it’s really interesting how we see like. Kai is just a normal guy off the internet, he can’t be his influencer self all the time, but cassidy is always her streamer self, which makes sense given the different platforms they use but I think it’s possibly an interesting dynamic that could be interesting just considering their similarities and differences…

Hello! The Kai and Cassidy parallels are actually very interesting, so thanks for the ask! I got really into this one so strap in, this one is for you Kai and Cassidy fans.

The most critical difference is that Cassidy chose to become the Ultimate Pro-Gamer but Kai didn’t choose to become the Ultimate Influencer. Cassidy was able to build her platform as herself, but Kai built his completely anonymous. Kai never meant to ‘claim the fame’ so to speak, as he fully intended to keep the account anonymous and restricted to work- because his online fame was for work. Online fame meant work success, not personal success. Kai just needed money, his online fame was not born of a desire or passion for it. His fame is based purely around superficial, predictable and (most importantly) popular trends he was able to capitalize on. Cassidy, meanwhile, would choose when she streamed and what while being herself. It was a personal success and as money raked in, an unintentional work success. Fans who joined ‘Cassidy’s Comrades’ joined because they liked Cassidy, or enjoyed the gimmick she had invented herself. Cassidy has the creative and financial freedom to do as she pleases, unlike Kai.

And Cassidy’s content is also well received! She has millions upon millions of fans. They’re attracted to her passion for pro-gaming and streaming. Generally speaking, Cassidy has a good fanbase. However, Kai doesn’t. He has more haters than fans despite being the Ultimate Influencer, and those who are his fans are described as obsessive and defensive. Damon, in an FTE, says that Kai relies on them but they don’t rely on Kai- and that’s because Kai isn’t himself with his fans, but an empty vessel for social media trends. Cassidy knows she earned her Ultimate Streamer title, and is comfortable doing as she pleases with it. She knows she’s incredibly influential (as seen by her saying she consistently donates money), and I don’t doubt her influence in the gaming world either. Kai, though, doesn’t think he’s earned his Ultimate Influencer title, so he’s constantly trying to prove it to the world, his fans, and himself. He doesn’t see that he’s already earned his Ultimate title despite it taking an incredibly smart person to predict and even shift social trends.

Despite these differences in self-worth, types of fame, and how each character is perceived by the world, it’s also interesting that both dislike their Ultimates. Cassidy complains that many fans are constantly asking her to return to old content, but since Cassidy is a ‘genuine’ online personality, she can’t. She’s grown and isn’t that person anymore, or genuinely has no interest, meaning her audience is losing interest in her or perceiving her as boring. For someone like Cassidy, that’s disaster. Additionally, Cassidy says many people in the gaming community treat her like she’s above them, which she greatly dislikes. Cassidy is both too perfect and not enough. When Kai became the Ultimate Influencer, a scandal erupted immediately that got him sent a huge amount of online hate. However, it also got him a ton of online love that many deem worshippers. Again, Kai is both too perfect and not enough.

Both Cassidy and Kai also feel they are unable to make friends. Cassidy is unable to truly connect with anyone in the gaming space, as nobody sees her as an equal, or is using her for her Ultimate. She can ‘settle’ for a group, but not make real friends. Kai’s only friends are his fans. The scandal that started his Ultimate career ruined all his previous friendships, causing him to rely entirely on his fans for connection. His fans do not know Kai, they only know the Ultimate Influencer.

TLDR: The critical difference is their ‘choice’ in pursuing online fame. Both are very influential, but Cassidy succeeds as an online persona because she is genuine, unlike Kai. Kai’s insecurities prevent him from truly succeeding as an Ultimate (especially Influencer). Still, neither can make real friends due to their online success- there is no winning either as a beloved or despised public figure.

HA, I very much wish I was that clever. Yes, it is a ram (it’s the ram statue of Tozu from the beginning of Project: Eden’s Garden!) but no unfortunately it was not intentional. Man do you guys ever think about how Damon’s animal motif is a snake, and how snakes will latch onto their own tails and cannibalize themselves? They’ll be responsible for their own deaths. This is usually observed to happen when a snake is kept in captivity, and it is credited to happen due to stress and/or confusion. These conditions cause the snake to believe it is attacking prey or other snakes rather than itself. The snake doesn’t realize it’s only attacking themselves until it’s too late.

Do you also think about how Damon has an inherently trusting nature he doesn’t realize he has? Damon believes himself to be independent and a critical thinker, which makes him think he’s better than to trust the other students, but he also latched onto Eva immediately after meeting her without realizing it. He thrived when having that attachment to Eva but it was the wrong attachment to make, and it’s one he didn’t even realize he made.

TLDR: Damon’s experience in the death game may be shaped and ruined by his own hands while believing he’s doing the right thing.

Gets roughly x10 worse when you remember he didn’t even realize he trusted her until it was too late. Bro subconsciously latched onto Eva like a leech who needed friendship instead of blood without even knowing he did it. And he was a good friend too!!! The scene that stands out to me most is when Kai, someone who’s “in” with the main group invites Damon to join him for lunch. That’s an opening. If the group sees Kai with Damon, they’ll slowly start to accept Damon is okay and Damon can integrate back into the main group, making his life much easier. But instead when Eva (public enemy no. 1) asks Damon to chat with her immediately, no prior notice, before he can enact his plan. Damon almost immediately gives up his tactical advantage and goes with Eva. If he was only “just using” Eva he would’ve demanded her to wait but instead he abandoned his previous plans to see what she wanted to talk about. And even then when she talks about how she “didn’t solve the Tozu problem” he tells her it’s okay and he didn’t expect her to with all that she’d been going through with having her talent exposed. And then shares even more information about his blackmail. Oh Damon you foolish boy, you never stood a chance for you betray yourself

I think it’s crazy that Damon is the guy who was like “I can’t trust anyone it’s a killing game I’m better than you,” but almost immediately considers Eva an ally to him and kind of likes her. I think it just goes to show how lonely he really is, considering he’s spent most of his time focusing on his talent and being better than everyone

I do have a Twitter! My user is evehasramblings, but I’ll be the first to admit I am BAD at Twitter haha. It is not my preferred platform at all, and I hardly have any posts. I at least meant to cross-post my own material but then I never got around to it. Currently I just repost a lot of Project: Eden’s Garden fanart, but my Twitter isn’t strictly for p:eg.

As for the next question, I haven’t found any theorists I like on Twitter but I think that’s more Twitters fault. I‘ve found Twitter to be a bad platform for theorizing and analyzing. I could go into a whole rant about it but I don’t want to distract away from the original questions too much.

Regarding a favourite personal theory, I’m not sure if you’re asking about a theory of my own or the community’s but I’ll start with community so I don’t seem too egotistical haha. Honestly I love the fan theory with Wolfgang’s parents that his father killed his mother. I’m very curious to see where Wolfgang’s blackmail goes- its unsolved mystery haunts me day and night. Now, if you meant my own theories, I honestly really like my Tozu theory but it’s only like half-posted so I won’t count it. Instead I’ll answer with my Damon and Pythias theory. I’m really curious to see if it becomes true. Currently the game has that grim realistic tone that they really will let it get down to the last two students, so assuming we get that far I really want to know who those last students are going to be. If they kill off Damon I don’t know what I’ll do haha.

honestly i havent seen a character more undeniably autistic without being explicitly autistic in text than Damon Maitsu. the fourth fte with Eloise where he clumsily brings up that he earns prize money too and tries to connect over that, his stated struggles with keeping his thoughts and opinions on a situation to himself, his blunt way of speaking but extremely awkward demeanor around people who don't lead the conversation, and like. a ton of other things that i dont feel like making a formal list of. neurodivergent damon real.

Highlights of the “In-Character” portion of the Project Eden’s Garden AMONG US stream in no particular order:

Damon introducing himself as “the Ultimate Debater. A prodigy among prodigies. Someone who simply can’t be outmatched.” And everyone going dead silent before making fun of his egotistical ass

Eva hiding in the corner of the waiting room

Diana going to the corner of the waiting room with Eva to keep her company

Kai being the reason the stream started late because he couldn’t decide the perfect look for his Among Us character

All their little characters matching them so well; Wolfgang in a little suit, Grace with bunny ears, Wenona with bear ears, Tozu’s goat horns, etc, and Eva just having absolutely nothing on

Wolfgang and Jean not knowing how to play video games and just doing their best

How utterly excited Tozu is that everyone is playing a killing game and he gets to play too

Damon yelling OH GOD DAMMIT so bad the mic reverberated after Wolfgang killed him

Jean saying “a princess has to look her best” when Cassidy makes fun of Kai taking too much time in customization menu and then adding “welcome back princess” when Kai finished

Wolfgang hitting Damon with “it’s just a game” when Damon was locked the fuck in on busting Wolfgang as imposter

Diana going for Tozu first as imposter and still being an absolutely terrible liar

Cassidy correct guessing Damon as the imposter begging him loudly not to kill her in voice proximity, so he actually can’t kill her anymore, so instead he scoffs and goes “wish” before trotting off

Damon being revealed as imposter last minute and Eva yelling about how she trusted him. Kai also being there.
