I know the joke about Evangelion is that "they aren't even robots they're some other shit" and it's true, but I think it also took the whole mecha thing quite seriously, something I loved about Evangelion was actually how they show the entire infrastructure required to support these not giant robots, how it's implied what a massive expenditure of resources this is especially in a post-apocalyptic world, and while the details of what Evas are and how they work and are created are esoteric and all, we do get a very interesting idea of what they are and how they work

except we don't fucking know how big they are

Because fuck the canon and the unwritten rule that characters can't be over 30 per most forms of media. Louis Amamiya Canon: 20 Headcanon: 21-23 Reasoning: Honestly I'm fine with canon, give or take a few years. Early 20s matches his appearance and personality fairly well. Yakumo Shinonome Canon: 22 Headcanon: 25-28 Reasoning: I put Yakumo as slightly older than the canon because both appearance and personality wise, it seems that he has escaped that "new adult" phase though just barely. Mia Karnstein Canon: 18 Headcanon: 15-17 Reasoning: I'm gonna be real, I'm not the greatest fan of Mia's design. There is something... scummy about how she is portrayed as "looking underaged but trying to look older" that I struggle to look past. I kinda feel the "but she's 18!" was slapped on to not get the side-eye from the western audience. I understand that there are folks that look like teens but are actually adults, but she also acts like a teen in a lot of the scenes so yeah.... I struggle to see her as the same age as canon Eva which we will get to in a second. Jack Rutherford Canon: 22 Headcanon: 35-39 Reasoning: Banco, are you off your fucking nut? How the hell am I supposed to look at Jack and accept that he is the same age as Yakumo?! He definitely feels late 30s both physically and mentally versus early 20s. Eva Roux: Canon: 18 Headcanon: 30-33 Reasoning: Same as with Jack, I am questioning the dev's sanity. If kept to canon ages, she would be the same age as Mia. I've seen some say that Mia's life and being fed on by revenants as a human aged her rapidly which I'm not disputing I'm just.... 18 though? She feels closer to someone in their 30s. Io Canon: Unknown Headcanon: Io is Io Reasoning: Attendants are odd to begin with and Io is odder by far. I definitely say the marketing team had a hand in Io's physical appearance but mentally, Io feels closer to a child... albeit a rather strange and anomalous child. !!Special Mention!! Oliver Collins Canon: N/A Headcanon: 22-25 Reasoning: not much to go on for this poor guy as the plot decided that he needed to be fridged at the starting gate. I feel early-middle 20s is a good spot for him.

truly not sorry but once again thinking abt miranda/mc/mia in RL. i need them SO bad. like, 2 of the most morally unsound persons (Mia & Miranda) + their little meow meow. Knowing both are so possessive and destructive (TO OTHERS) when they love and instead of running, fully embracing the chaos of it. Loving them despite their delusions of grandeur, the crimes, the secrets, and the deaths (+ undeaths) caused (or ordered!) by their hands. Acknowledging this is fucked up but you can't help it. Lovingly bitching abt their fights but fully done and gone to do anything else but to soothe and continue loving them, because after all those years of waiting and doing and redoing everything to be perfect was worth it for this.

Some TNMN headcanons for various characters

- Francis had a pretty terrible relationship with his dad growing up and after his mom's death he completely cut off ties with him. His dad had too much of a high expectation for him that he couldn't fulfil.

- Following that, Francis has a ton of self-worth issues and struggles with depression.

- Steven has PTSD from his time in the military. He's also one of the few residents who actually encountered a dopple once and is pretty paranoid about them.

- Francis's dad almost enlisted him in the army but thankfully his mom talked him out of it. If she didn't do that then Francis most likely would have met Steven during military training.

- Whenever she goes to a new place to eat Nacha tends to criticize and comment a bit on the food.

- Margarette is a widower. She misses her husband still but makes up for it by focusing her attention and affection to her nieces and nephews. Already said this in a post but she dotes on the Sverchzt twins and Izaack. She constantly encourages Izaack to meet up with someone and tries to hook him up with any suitable ladies she knows.

- Selenne and Elenois have wildly different taste in men and usually bicker over it.

- Izaack is ace and is pretty disinterested in dating but isn't totally against it. He just wants to find the right person and content to let whatever happens to happen on its own.

- Angus moved around a lot before this and tends to not share too much of his personal life with anyone. He's the type of person who talks a lot but you realise you don't actually know anything about them.

- Also a bit of a hopeless romantic with a string of failed relationships/crushes lmao.

- Mia asked Afton out first and is always the more assertive one of the two when it comes to their relationship. It's one of Afton's favorite thing about her.

- Mia's the only one who knows Afton's first name
